somehow some time magic goes wrong and young arthurs from different points in time are pulled into king arthur era. everyone kinda has this back and forth of who is going to watch the literal 8 month old. gwen and lancelot are pretty good at taking care of him, so is percival but he doesnt seem comfortable with it so no one forces him. elyan tried to hold him but baby!arthur started wailing after three seconds. leon is sorta good but he has like no idea how babies work or what they need so when baby!arthur found his sword and almost lobbed his own head off, leon was forbidden from taking care of the child. gaius is too old and busy researching how to reverse the issue. who the HELL would trust gwaine with a child? arthur has this Odd aversion to the child but no one pushes him on it. ofc merlin, magic incarnate, has this like aura or energy that draws all these innocent woodland creatures to him so obviously little arthur is also drawn to him. in fact, merlin seems to be the person he likes the most. and merlins a natural w kids apparently so hes often the one that baby!arthur is handed off to.

he complains about it at first but when baby!arthur breaks into a fit of giggles after merlin calls adult!arthur a clotpole, he has merlin wrapped around his little finger. merlin stops complaining but does let arthur know that the one thing he Will Not Do is change his diaper. arthur laughs and walks away. merlin talks to baby!arthur like they’ve been friends for years (bc they have). arthur points out that baby!arthur cant understand him and merlin retorts that its like how it normally is. merlin gets to perform magic in front of baby!arthur and he LOVES it

my point to this was merlin dotting on little versions of arthur is a way that no one ever really did for him growing up and adult!arthur seeing it and healing little pieces of his inner child as he watches merlin play games with baby!arthur and make sure he’s taken care of. it especially hits him when gaius finally finds a way to send baby!arthur back and while everyone seems torn between upset they have to say bye, they’re also relieved to get the baby back where hes supposed to be,, merlin is like choking back fat tears. everyone backs off to give them privacy and merlin just kisses baby!arthur’s forehead and whispers some encouraging and heartachingly sincere words that have adult!arthur choking back tears.

then BOOM the spell also backfires and while yes baby!arthur got back to where hes supposed to be, now theres toddler!arthur. he has this gravitational pull to gaius (can recognize him) and merlin (magic soulmates ofc he has an innate trust in the man). merlin is happy to have his little friend back and gaius goes back to the drawing board. now they have this little 2-3 year old toddling after them and blabbering something that sounds like english if you’re patient enough

(merlin makes another comment about how little arthur has changed over the years)

the cycle repeats, merlin and toddler!arthur get attached and adult!arthur watches and heals a bit more of his inner child. gaius finds another cure that falls through the same way and now they have child!arthur. he has a bit more of uther’s influence in him but hes still a child. he gets hurt and tries to fight back tears but merlin sees he’s in pain and tells him it’s okay to be hurt, to feel pain, to cry. child!arthur says in that stutter cry children do when they’re fighting back tears that his father says boys shouldn’t cry. merlin wipes a tear that slips down child!arthur’s face and whispers about how he cries and lets himself feel his sadness before picking himself back up and dusting himself off before getting back to it, that it doesn’t make him weak but stronger. adult!arthur hears this and this may not be the beginning of his deconstruction but it makes a tremendous amount of progress in him rewiring his brain away from his father’s toxic ways of thinking.

idk if they’d get a teen!arthur since gaius probably would’ve learned his lesson by then but if they did, we’d get to watch Merlin vs Arthur Showdown 2.0 as merlin humbles the young prince and i think that’d be funny. especially for gwaine since he didn’t get to see it happen the first time.

Hey I happened Apon a post where you commented about how BBC Merlin is actually a horror series and your explanation of that was so compelling that it’s all I can think about now is Merlin through that meta narrative horror lense and I need you to talk about it more immediately or I might go coco bananas bc wtf I cant get it out of my head

Oh! Thank you, it's very nice to hear it was compelling :)) I don't quite remember what I said -- there's a lot about Merlin that's horrifying -- but I suspect that it had to do with the fact that the characters in Merlin are trapped and not allowed to escape. By virtue of the genre, we expect that they will escape. We expect that Merlin will be freed from his obligation to hide and to make compromising moral decisions because the future of the kingdom rests on his shoulders. We expect that Arthur will be freed from the world of lies he’s living in. The plot goes in this direction, too -- you’re so certain that that’s what’s going to happen in “sins of the father”....and then it doesn’t. You think it might happen in “the disir”...and then it doesn’t. In both these cases, Merlin intentionally lies to Arthur, keeping them both trapped. Add to this the fact that the writers keep resetting Arthur’s character to allow them to play out the same plot line over and over. I think, to be honest, this is just lazy writing, but the way it combines with the intentional writing choices gives you an uncanny feeling, kind of like watching a time loop and realizing the thing you thought would break it doesn’t, or like watching a vampire or zombie attack our protagonist and seeing the exact moment their struggle turns to acquiescence, watching the now-infected person return to their friends and feed on them without their knowledge. Even at the end, Merlin is not allowed to escape, forced to play out the same time loop for all eternity.

I’m really not a great horror aficionado, so I’m kind of struggling to come up with comparisons -- perhaps you’re better versed in horror theory and can articulate this better! I think the horror effect is most pronounced for me with Arthur’s storyline, especially with his relationship to Merlin. Arthur has no reason to believe he’s making decisions of anything other than his own free will, but he’s unaware of the manipulation constantly happening behind his back. Maybe the closest comparison i can think of is the truman show. The only character who is allowed to break out is Morgana, and she immediately becomes a monstrous villain, at least in the eyes of our protagonists.

This ask was the motivation i needed to actually make a merlin side-blog, so @camelotluteguild is it! I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this and related topics -- I think the thing that makes Merlin so compelling to me is the way in which different expectations and meta-narratives get layered onto each other, both intentionally and by virtue of a tv show being a group project -- it often leads to really interesting effects!

Saw this post and had ideas but ran out of tag space

S1, Killy speaks to Merlin he Nopes out of there.

Merlin walking right back to Ealdor.

 But you can't fight fate, and on his way he runs into a rogue wanderer with gorgeous hair and a bright laugh.

 Gwaine accompanies him back to Ealdor.

 They fought bandits with magic swords on the way, and Gwaine mentioned sorcery in a negative tone. 

Merlin wilted but Gwaine didn't notice, he was too busy trying to impress merlin with the sword flip thing he does, accompanied with his hair flip. 

When merlin arrives in Ealdor, Will is thrilled and so is Hunith but also Hunith is concerned bc what?? happened???

Merlin explains everything to Hunith as Will gives Gwaine the shovel talk.

 When Gwaine eventually packs up to leave after an incident involving a goose, a felled apple tree, and a pair of underpants (an incident that gets him kicked out by the village leader) he returns in s3e4 fashion to help the fight against cenred's men

Merlin thinks travelling with Gwaine and helping people doesn't seem like a bad idea

Hunith sees the decision in Merlin's face before Merlin himself does.

Will pulls his soulmate since childhood down and rubs his knuckles in his hair while Hunith silently packs some bread and cheese, a single tear falling because her boy is leaving yes, but he’s also in love and isn’t that wonderful? 

Merlin asks Will to come but Will says he has duties as 'prince william of ealdor' but he softens and says eventually. when the time is right

in their travels they run into a handsome but sad swordsman, a man who could never be a knight of camelot for he wasn't nobility. 

merlin gasps and gwaine sighs. they were always ready to fuck with the elite anyways

the identity theft thing happens except lance doesn’t get caught ‘cause. its not like anyone KNOWS who gwaine is

on their way to camelot gwaine promises to fight arthur and merlin mournfully says as a knight of camelot lance would have to defend arthur and merlin cant fight his FRIENDS.

they are having this conversation when they are attacked by a griffin.

they barely make it to camelot, and it is while merlin is being treated by gaius for the cut he got, all while valiantly ignoring killy's calls, gaius presses a book in his hands- the enchanted lance happens, lance knows, and Lance accepts him.

 when Merwaine leave there is a steady flow of correspondence between merlin/gaius and merlin/lance

this is how merlin knows when the dragon escapes (killy switched tactics and spoke to morgana) and gaius writes to merlin and says ‘hey ur dad is alive lol’ 

merwaine finding balinor who dies and merlin cries and gwaine realizes oh. this was his father. and theres pain cause he realizes merlin never told him because gwaine was never quiet about being anti-magic

on their way back to camelot they run into a badass blacksmith 

turns out he’s going to camelot too, his sister and father are under seige by a dragon after all. 

when merlin defeats the dragon, the knights were knocked out and so everyone thinks Elyan is the dragonlord

gwen rolls her eyes fondly as arthur asks her if she’s a dragon lady. 

just. merlin running from fate. and fate finding him anyways

I firmly believe the only reason Merlin didn’t turn around and walk away when that is such a Merlin thing to do was plot purposes. Had Merlin left Arthur would have been dead a hundred times over

omg im pretty sure i met and started following you like the day of that bellamy scene™️ because i remember thinking how fucking horrendous that episode ended, and, at the same time, how amazing that night on tumblr was aksnakaaj. so that night, tumblr was a fucking disaster and chaotic and funny asf. i remember texting @tkstrrand the entire ep (bc she couldn’t watch it for some reason) like how boring it was/how she wasn’t missing much blahblah and then when the death scene happened at the last fucking second, i sent her about a thousand separate incoherent texts in the span of like two minutes LOL tumblr was in shambles and i made a few posts about how fucking dumb the show was—one post i made i told my few new followers to fuck the 100 and just watch merlin and you texted me about it!! we have literally so much in common (with merlin, atla, the 100, tog!!!) that when you texted me about how you felt about that scene compared to merlin’s ending, my thought was like “this blog is so kind and we feel the same way and i need to follow asap.”

my opinions on morgwen:

I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I SHIP IT WITH MY WHOLE ASS SOUL. dude, their potential as a ship is incredible😭i fucking love them together. i wrote them as a side pairing in my first multi-chapter merthur fic and i adored writing their interactions and dynamic sm. if morgana was going to be with anyone, my first choice will always be gwen. i also read them as a pairing in fics all the time because the pure power-couple potential is insane.

hot ☕️ here™️: i think if someone was to bring morgana back from the brink of hatred, it should have been gwen (not merlin). so, like, i could definitely see merlin telling her about his magic and whatnot and maybe that would have stopped her from going dark side...but...i didn’t think merlin should have (ekk probably an unpopular opinion).

see, i love merlin with my entire heart..and tbh telling uther fucking pendragon’s ward that he had magic was just too much of a gamble—especially with arthur’s life on the line, which literally became merlin’s sole purpose in life (another matter for a different essay™️). i understand his need to keep it a secret from her even more when the large reptile repeatedly got into merlin’s head that she was bad news from the jump (also another matter for a different essay™️).

SO. that leaves two options for our miserable magical gal: arthur or gwen. now, i honestly believe arthur wouldn’t have hurt her if he was told. and i even think he may have became more sympathetic to the magical community because of it—especially when he saved mordred wayyyy early on that cemented the fact that arthur was not uther. but i can also understand why morgana wouldn’t tell arthur, and it’s pretty much the same reason merlin didn’t tell her about his magic: the risk was too big and she didn’t want to gamble her life with an unknown reaction.

now we get to the main point: gwen would have been the best option for her. whether it is platonic or not, gwen was always there for morgana. gwen is such a kind, loving soul, and she deeply respected and adored morgana—you can tell by the way she smiled around her in the beginning seasons, how she would get her flowers, how she would worry about morgana’s wellbeing. even though gwen was morgana’s servant, she cared for her in more ways than were required and it showed. they were best friends. the entire incident with gwen’s father, which was horrendous, might be the reason gwen would be rightfully upset about the subject of magic; however. she knew her father wasn’t magical, she knew uther was a tyrant, and she knew morgana’s heart. someone is gonna tell me that if morgana had explained to gwen what happened, how her magic was innate, how morgana would never fucking choose to have magic anywhere near her shithead guardian (who probably would have killed her imo if he knew bc you know the whole “fire will purify” bullshit), that gwen would hate her??? I MEAN LITERALLY WATCH THE LAST EPISODES AGAIN. when QUEEN GWEN realizes that the whole time it was merlin saving everyone’s asses, and she connected all the dots, her face showed nothing but pure understanding and acceptance.

gwen was such an underused character. her fucking potential arcs could have been phenomenal (again, LOL, another matter for a different essay™️), and the way canon made morgana use gwen was fucking gross and im not a fan🙃 but fuck canon. i ship them and i love them to pieces ✌🏻thank you for coming to my talk✌🏻

my opinions on manon mf blackbeak:

oh boy, where do i start? i would die for her...is that too extreme for the starting place? i fucking LOVE manon blackbeak dude. oh my god, so, remember when her and aelin fought for the first time in QoS? i remember jumping up from my lounging position with my hand over my smiling mouth because i love both of these badass hardcore women with everything i am. i mean, aelin owns my ass (she is probably my favorite character of all time rn) but manon hits differently. her storyline at the beginning was so bleh, but, man, did it escalate fast to “holy shit” to “i fucking love her” to “oh fuck im sobbing.”

the only thing i will complain about with her character in canon was the fact that my girl was straight???? excuse me?? she has been alive for fucking forever and she is straight? no. i cant accept that. tbh i ship manon and elide🥺 (i also ship dorain and chaol oops). but her character development was everything and i cant think too long on what happens because i will start crying tbh sksjsmakks

ok  film  summary  for  those  who  haven’t  seen  it  (  aka  everyone  )

when  danny  was  2  yrs  old  his  parents  were  involved  in  a  anti-vietnam  war  protest  that  involved  burning  down  a  lab  w  a  bunch  of  other  ‘  radicals  ’.  no  one  was  supposed  to  be  there  but  a  janitor  was  &  :(  was  blinded  in  one  eye.  since  then  they’ve  been  on  the  run  ‘cause  the  gov’t  wants  them  to  pay  for  what  they  did

the  film  opens  w  danny  as  richard  mcnally  noticing  the  gov’t  has  found  them  again

the  family  immediately  bounces,  leaving  THEIR  DOG  BEHIND  >:(  &  changing  their  names,  hair  colour,  &  town

u  find  out  danny’s  super  good  at  piano

they  move  to  jersey  (  &  arguably  to  princeton,  new  jersey  -  their  original  home  ),  &  theres  like  shots  of  danny  changing  their  number  plates  &  arthur  finding  them  new  identities  from  obituaries  etc

danny  starts  school  as  michael  manfield  &  it’s  very  quick  that  he’s  super  into  classical  music  &  a fucken  prodigy.  he  also  takes  home  ec  ‘cause  he  needs  to  take  2  electives

his  first  music  class  is  awkward  bc  he  recognises  a  beethoven  piece  but  not  madonna’s  new  single  lucky  star,  &  his  music  teacher  immediately  recognises  his  talent  &  invites  danny  over  to  play  his  piano  some  time

the  next  day  danny  skips  school  bc  it’s  picture  day  -  can’t  risk  having  his  picture  taken  !!!!  -  &  goes  to  the  teacher’s  house  to  play  piano.  he  meets  the  teacher’s  daughter,  lorna,  n  its  love  at  first  sight  thank  u.  she’s  super  snarky  to  his  quiet  sensitivity  n  i  lov  them

the  next  day  the  teacher  is  like  ‘  um  i  didnt  mean  u  can  break  in2  my  house  thats  criminal  behaviour  ’  &  danny  is  just  👁👄👁

danny  &  lorna  are  paired  up  for  home  ec  &  everyone  thinks  its  hilarious  that  a  boy  is  learning  how  to  bake

danny  n  lorna  hit  it  off,  he  asks  her  on  a  walk  w  him,  he  invites  her  to  his  mum’s  bday  party,  they  have  a  deep  convo  w/o  actually  revealing  anything  abt  danny  ,  it’s  cute

blah  blah  blah,  lorna  shows  up  to  annie’s  bday  party  &  gives  her  a  little  shell  necklace  she  made  &  the  popes  love  her  immediately

danny  walks  her  home  &  they  make  out  but  stop  short  of  having  sex  bc  danny  doesn’t  want  to  do  that  when  he’s  lying  to  her  bc  she  thinks  his  name  is  michael  &  everything  she  knows  abt  him  is  a  lie

lorna  doesn’t  ,  like  this  rejection  &  is  v  upset  abt  it.  she  ignores  him  the  next  day  at  school

danny  cant  sleep  bc  hes  so  torn  up  abt  this  that  he  sneaks  into  her  room  because  ‘  u  wouldn’t  talk  to  me  ’  in  the  middle  of  the  night  &  convinces  her  to  go  into  the  woods  w  him  &  he  spills  everything  because  ‘  i  didn’t  know  what  to  do  but  i  love  u  ’  &  lorna  cries  bc  of  the  weight  he’s  been  carrying  &  they  have  sex  &  now  he  has  another  secret  but  lorna  can  share  it

danny  sneaks  back  home  but  arthur’s  up  &  is  just  ‘  are  u  sleeping  w  her  ’  &  when  danny  nods  arthur’s  just  ‘  i  like  her  ’.  earlier  in  the  film  we  see  arthur  has  his  own  issues  abt  this  life

UM ---  danny’s  teacher  says  he  should  apply  for  juilliard  bc  hes  that  talented  ;  danny  doesn’t  let  his  parents  kno  bc  they  would  never  allow  it  as  trying  to  produce  school  transcripts  would  blow  their  cover  ;  he’s  a  fucken  genius  n  the  school  wants  him

the  teacher  reaches  out  to  annie  to  talk  abt  danny  &  the  school  &  she’s   just  :O  bc  she  had  0  idea  he’d  done  that,  but  then  it  turns  out  danny  got  his  talent  from  annie  &  she  regrets  never  having  like  ,  taken  her  talent  that  seriously  /  focused  on  uni,  &  she  doesn’t  want  him  to  make  the  same  mistakes

there’s  scenes  where  she’s  talking  to  arthur  abt  it,  &  danny  asks  arthur  if  he  can  stay,  &  annie  reaches  out  to  her  father  who  she  hasn’t  seen  in  fifteen  years  &  lets  him  know  abt  the  situation  &  ‘  surprise  we  have  another  kid  too  now  ’  &  asks  if  he  would  take  danny  in

the  gov’t  closes  in  on  them  so  danny  says  goodbye  to  lorna  bc  he’s  never  gonna  see  her  again.  it’s  very  heartbreaking

surprise  !  his  grandfather  has  agreed  to  take  danny  in  &  the  popes  are  gonna  leave  but  danny’s  gonna  stay  &  danny  is  equal  parts  thrilled  but  also  devastated  bc  who  knows  when  they’ll  see  each  other  again  &  that’s  where  the  film  ends  :)

little  things  i  didn’t  add  :  u  hear  throughout  abt  other  radicals  they  were  with  being  caught  ;  arthur  finds  out  his  mum  died  of  cancer  ;  one  of  the  radicals  who  had  a  thing  for  annie  finds  them  again  &  is  all  chummy  &  turns  out  he  stole  a  credit  card  from  someone  at  annie’s  new  work  (  dental  assisstant,  arthur’s  a  chef  )  &  that’s  how  the  gov’t  cottoned  on  to  where  they  were.  this  film  is  very  much  a  character  based  film  rather  than  a  plot-based  film  &  if  u  wanna  cry  just  watch  the  last  scene  ,  whew.  the  timeline  in  the  movie  is  unclear,  but  it’s  clearly  a  decent  chunk  of  the  school  year.

people can apply to work for him !! it’s quite a small store but it’s like a little family and very homey

he lives in a cottage in the woods! its in the outskirts of town, and he drives an old volkswagen beetle that’s a manual transmission and doesn’t rly go above 50mph 

he rly needs it to get fixed but he cant figure out mechanics that well, he just kinda talks to it and hopes that’ll be enough

what is technology ?? he LOVES it but it doesnt come naturally to him AT ALL

he misses his magic plates and objects bc they were his friends :(((

MORE ABOUT REMEMBERING HIS PAST:

he feels like such an old man, he feels like he’s lived eternities and he remembers everything and sometimes it can get so overwhelming, which is why he always surrounds himself with as much new life as possible.

ambrosius loves the little trivial things, like board games and souvenirs and tiny musical instruments, because the little things make him happy and remind him why he’s still doing this

as powerful as he was, and as ancient as he is, he can get tired.

but he knows why he’s here: he must protect Arthur, he must protect his people, and the residents of apple peak have become his people too now.

he’s very much a neutral grey person – he’s not someone who believes in absolutes, he believes in the lessons of the past, the actions of the moment, and the possibilities of the future.

he remembers his ‘real’ past with a lot of love, but knows that they will probably never return. so he is super grateful for the history and life he’s had here -- and hopes that he can make the world a better place with the little he can do for it

i’ve read in at least two places during my recent barrie reading (between his speeches + letters) about barrie referencing/saying how before he got into journalism (and then thus literature) and stuff he thought/was afraid he was gonna have to work as a clerk back home for like the rest of his life or w/e

which makes me think of george darling, man stuck in an unfulfilling job as a clerk. and wondering if there’s a significant connection to that (why not). i mean, after all, george darling has a lot more in common with barrie than arthur llewelyn davies, the father of the llewelyn davies boys and the patriarch of the family the darlings take much inspiration from. and obv there’s a connection (~foil related stuff) between george and peter and hook and obv a connection between barrie&peter + barrie&hook, so it makes sense george would have a lot of barrie in him too. BUT I DIGRESS

 so like, george is barrie in an au, where he doesn’t become a writer and becomes a clerk (in london). so while he has that unfulfilled job and feeling of something lacking, he does have a happy marriage and children --  and while barrie took care of kids and were very close to them, i think that was always something he wished to have or wanted, to be a real father and not a(n ‘inferior’) substitute. so you lose some, but you win some in this trade off.

hook, i think, is barrie now [or now when it was being written].  except, you know, more villainous. i don’t think hook is literally barrie in a straight up allegory way, but that parts of him are definitely drawn from barrie, or at least a certain aspect of barrie. the melancholic depressive moods of his seem not unsimilar. and then there’s this stuff:

merlin s2 ep10 sweet dreams

holy shit guys it’s been a while. things have been crazy with me. if you want details you could always follow me on twitter and instagram (@tlcyellow) (plug plug plug). the short version is, i finished up my third semester of school, moved to a new apartment, had a two week break where i went home and many adventures, and now i’m back in nyc and starting my fourth semester tomorrow. i want to give a shoutout to my mutual bearwithoutpaws for messaging me and saying they enjoyed my merlin posts and wanted them back. i really appreciate your support and i’m sorry i’ve been away so long!! ALSO some of my posts are missing??????? a lot of my season 2 posts have mysteriously disappeared from my blog? i didn’t delete them and i don’t know where they are lmao. it is a true mystery. if anyone has any ideas on how to recover them please let me know. okay with that ridiculously long intro out of the way, lets get back into it (if i remember how to do this)

- damn bradley james is fine. how could i have ever left him

- they are having some sort of peace conference thing in camelot and there’s this grumpy ass dude whose trying to end the peace talks and he’s going to use lady vivian (a woman we’ve never seen before) as part of his plan. she’s super pretty and arthur helped her off her horse so they’re probably gonna do it by the end of the episode

- okay jk vivian is a spoiled ass bitch and i hate her

- vivian’s dad’s name is olaf. like the snowman. frozen has ruined that name forever.

- arthur is now trying to pretend to merlin that he doesn’t have the hots for gwen which is weird because he only really knows two women and one of them is basically his sister so his options for love are limited

- katie mcgrath???? the queen of my heart 

-  okay so the evil man’s plan is to make arthur fall in love with vivian through magic. hasn’t this exact thing happened to arthur already?? have they run out of ideas already?

- arthur and merlin are trying to woo vivian and they’re like “um?? feelings??? girls??? i know not the name” and it’s like, we get it, yall are too gay to figure out what to do with women

- ohNO WAIT there has been a classic sitcom-style misunderstanding. arthur is enchanted and talking to merlin about wooing vivian but they don’t mention names so merlin thinks he’s talking about gwen so he brings flowers and a love note to gwen instead of vivian. yikes

- oh my god arthur knocks on vivians door and she’s like “whos there?” and hes like “its destiny my love!!!” which is cringe-y enough and then he looks at what he has in his hands and says “its destiny and chicken”. even under the influence of literal magic arthur doesn’t know how to talk to women

- okay so vivian rejects arthur because shes a brat and the evil man is like “i don’t get it!!! everyone in the world is attracted to this boy. i’m almost attracted to him myself” and then he like has a small orgasm and his jester has no clue what to do 

- arthur is full of melancholy and hes leaning his head on his horse in the most dramatic and emo fashion 

- vivian has now been enchanted to fall in love with arthur and she has come to his bedroom and is sniffing his pillows and rolling around in his bed like a crazy person 

- the jester has told vivians snowman dad that vivian is in arthurs bedroom but merlin has her unconscious and hidden in a closet. so olaf comes in all pissed and is like “I HEARD VIVIANS IN HERE” and arthurs like “damn i wish. shes fine as hell!!!” (im paraphrasing) which is not a thing you say to any girl’s father ever. 

-  gwen is now sending a love note to arthur which is super awkward since he’s still enchanted and in love with vivian and im afraid she’s going to get her heart broken :(

- OHNO SHE DIDN’T SIGN HER NAME SO ARTHUR THINKS ITS VIVIAN. this is a mess

- arthur has crawled up into vivians window and gwen is waiting in her house and arthur isnt coming ahhh this is so sad

- ohboy olaf walked in on vivian and arthur making out and olaf has challenged arthur to combat and gwen is brokenhearted

- DAMN MORGANA ALWAYS LOOKS SO GOOD

- okay so arthur is all enchanted and olaf breaks one of his ribs and arthurs like “im fine gaius. IM IN LOVE!!!!!!” 

- okay merlin visits the unhelpful dragon who is actually relatively helpful in this situation and he tells him merlin has to find the person arthur truly loves and get her to kiss him which is handy bc gwen exists but what if she didn’t? merlin would have to make out with him i guess.

- gwen and arthur are kissing!!!! she broke the enchantment and now arthurs like “where am i?? why is my rib broken??” and gwen’s like “youre in a fight to the death. no time to explain. head on out there buddy good luck”

- so arthur almost kills olaf and then is like “this is no way to achieve peace” and olaf just??? forgives him??? and forgets he was trying to fuck his daughter????

- so after all that gwen is like “we cant be together” B I T C H you were so ready to get with him twenty minutes ago what the heck

- wait wait wait no one unenchanted vivian!!!!!!!! she’s gonna be hung up on arthur for the rest of her goddamn life

Your first OC ever?god. its got to be Super Kitty. when i was like … an incredibly small child I used to draw comic strips about this feline caped crusader, who was friends with everyone in the city, and the comics always involved him stopping an evil banana man from stealing money from the local bank. He was paid with donuts for his service to the city. i still remember how to draw him. 

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?i’d get arrested if I didn’t answer this with Bronze, probably… but really, they’re very important to me

3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?man, i cant remember! i really dont think i have… P:

4. A character you rarely talk about?there’s loads of characters ive never even posted a single picture of on tumblr, i wouldnt even know where to start asdf

5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be? bronze is the easy answer, but… i guess that could also go to Servant or Westrin. Servant has a comic project in the works that basically stars him, sort of a series of one-shots about the things he’s experienced, i feel like that would be a good thing to take off and run with. Westrin’s just fun as hell, i love the guy.

6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related?real talk now… there’s at least five different characters that i refer to as a whole as “bronze-tangential”, who started out as, “what would bronze be like if they were in this world?” and then becoming their own thing within said world because i just get stupid attached

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory Mmm… there’s a few of them, most obviously Lent (whose background I did a short comic about). Basically his entire town got eaten by ghosts and turned into zombies, he only barely survived with a sliver of his soul left. 

15. Do you like to talk about your OCs with other people?yes, i often discuss storylines and such with friends

16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)? Probably Bronze’s dad! I don’t talk about him much, but his name’s Devon Reed, and he was a biotech developer specialising in android design. 

I often describe him as being something of a reverse Arthur Weasley - a very fatherly scientist fascinated to the moon and back with the concept of magic.

Any OC OTPs? having trouble thinking of a lot of them right now, but there’s Eric + Lent & Naiadine + Tailias from Emerald Sigil, Avken + Baromet from my space campaign world, Sydd + Wyvv from my unnamed campaign world, and I’ve been considering Westrin + Servant as an interesting dynamic in Servant’s story

18. Any OC crackships? My character Bismuth and @autistictimeknight​‘s oc Eros. Theyre so fucking in love, I love it. Its been awhile but I do still think about them sometimes.

As I recall, Eros is an empath, she can read other people’s emotions. But Bismuth is a robot, and Eros can’t read her. Because of this Eros can let go of her fear of unintentionally manipulating the emotions of her date, which would hold her back from most other relationships. 

19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)Hey, meet Bronze! I definitely do not talk about them every five minutes, why would you say that. 

Bronze was with me through two of the hardest years of my life so far, and being a DND character they grew with me, both as a fighter and as a person. They were non-binary before I started using those pronouns, they were the first character or person or anything who I fought someone about using the right pronouns for, they make a great icebreaker for if I want to see how someone reacts to non-binary pronouns … 

One funny anecdote about Bronze is that when I first made them, their “gimmick” was that they would sometimes glitch out and mess up their speech, mostly because I wanted an excuse not to engage in the roleplaying (which I was very bad at). The interesting thing is that as I got better at interacting with the group, we both grew out of needing it very quickly. 

I’m very proud of Bronze. 

20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)?Westrin is a bard! His singing voice sounds like Bill Wurtz and these are his theme songs.

22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how? I honestly dont know… no-one talks to me about them, haha!

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?I’m gonna go with Enza for this one. Enza Colie was originally written entirely because I wanted an antagonist for a short starring his sister, Jane Colie. But the more I fleshed out his reasonings for acting how he did and explored his character, the more I realised he’d make an even more interesting character if allowed to have a redemption arc, too. 

I just want to state for the record that I was very reluctant to the idea, and he basically dragged his way out of the villain pit entirely of his own accord. I am dubiously proud of him, and also a bit scared. 

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?Probably either Eric (Big Man, Best Friend), Crocus (Mother figure), Reed (Father Figure), Westrin (hed just make a good friend u kno??), or Bismuth (she makes good conversation!)

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)probably the homestuck fan-troll Hallux, but that’s mostly because they were based on a troll-sona I made awhile ago. They’re a hope/prospit game designer who is small and full of rage and love

oh, and there’s dave! dave’s a superhero speedster, existing in a modern-day superhero version of seattle. theyre idiot, just like me,

26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will? this is an interesting one… i don’t think ive ever had something Bad in a design ive done called to my attention by someone, but I did create my character Servant at around the same time I was first really expanding the diversity of my casts. (since i don’t talk about him often, a little context: he’s a magic spirit creature bound to human form to serve the royal family of the land and follow their orders.) 

somehow, younger-and-more-stupid me managed to have the revelation that making this “eternal slave” character literally anything other than a white man, especially as a white author, would be Pretty Not Good. im … thats really, really not something i should pat myself on the back for, but i do consider it one of the biggest bullets dodged in my artistic career so far that i realised that not all representation is good representation so quickly, before i could make that incredibly, incurably stupid mistake. 

after that, trying to make sure my characters and their presentations don’t harm anyone pretty much has become a paranoia. i don’t seem to have stepped on any toes yet, but when it inevitably happens, please let me know - i didnt know, and i want to fix it! 

27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song? None that I can think of, actually! I don’t really do that often. 

28. Your most dangerous OC? god damn it i have no idea!!! is it the terminus? glitch in the matrix god of chaos motherfucker?is it sarle? terrifying calculating scientist with the power of the soul at her fingertips ??? is it ares??? is it athena????? is it petra?????? the gatekeeper???? 

… actually, the gatekeeper might be it, if “dangerous” just refers to “the amount of raw power it can wield”. the Gatekeeper is a titanic entity that exists in interdimensional multiverse space, and its implied to have the ability to create and destroy entire universe bubbles at will. for what cosmic purpose, no-one knows. 

at a more personal scale, though, literally all of the aforementioned characters are pretty bad to run into too. 

29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone they’re going?god. Mina or Tawn. Tawn is the Indiana Jonesy type and probably dumb enough, but also competent enough not to get into too much trouble there. Mina would probably drag her friends along. 

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection? XEN09. No-one knows, because no-one knows xir personal identity. Xe absolutely does, though. It’s less of a secret if you know xir in person, but good luck finding out about it otherwise.

Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)dave just reblogs memes all the time tbh. they like to keep tabs on the ridiculous superhero news going on, and they show human jokes and cat videos to their alien gf. they dont really post or add to posts, but they talk in tags a lot. 

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why? i want to say tawn because i literally just realised ive been imagining their voice as sounding like luigi this entire fucking time and i never realised until this exact instant

33. Your shyest OC?probably baromet. they prefer to keep to themself in their hideout, with their collection of shiny things. they don’t really enjoy trying to communicate much, mostly because they expect to get yelled at. 

34. Do you have any twin characters?Yes! At least two sets; 

- Crocus and Sarle. (x) (x) They don’t exactly have a very well-developed relationship, but they are both quite important to the plot of my campaign world, and they are both very interesting. Crocus is a motherly figure who just exudes friendliness, while Sarle is .. very much not that, a researcher studying very gruesome things and pushing the boundaries of reality. 

- Jane and Enza Colie. I haven’t talked a whole lot about either of them here, but I’d rather leave their story to do the talking whenever I get around to it. Essentially, the both of them were intended to do the dirty work for their crime boss family, but Jane ditched to study medicine. Most of the conflict between the two of them comes out of Enza not understanding why she made the choice she did, and coming to understand how he’s been manipulated. 

35. Any sibling characters? I can’t really think of any off the top of my head, I should … I should really work on that. 

I can talk about Westrin, though. Westrin (a demigod of many things, but namely bards, travel, travelers, and people who are lost) often becomes close friends with mortals, sometimes practically adopting them. These people who consider him family, and people who have received his blessing, are able to use his surname, Brilanta, as their own if they choose. So I guess all of the Brilantas are siblings, at least in spirit. 

Oh, and XEN09 has like, seven siblings. Xe is the second-oldest, and least remarkable.

Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)? I already talked about Eros and Bismuth up there a ways in question 18, but I’ll talk about another relationship here. @autistictimeknight​‘s character, Nova the Alchemist, is mentor and adopted parental figure to my character Munna. Munna … Munna isn’t a very good apprentice. She tries very hard. 

37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human That’s most of them, I’m not quite sure what to say here. Bronze is an android? Bronze again? Westrin? All the aliens ??

39. Introduce any character you want ??? uhhhHHHhhHHH Lord Brillium is the reigning deity of the Cloud Kingdoms in the other campaign setting I’m working on. They represent light and the quest for knowledge, and spend most of their days in the Cathedral Observatory watching the stars.

also one time bronze rickrolled a rakshasa demon and then pulled updog on it like, two minutes later

42. Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods? this is kind of a weird question, m, I feel like Bismuth would find learning about the mythos utterly fascinating, as would Tawn.

aside from the entire “bronze-tangential characters” thing i mentioned awhile back, I tend to really like designing characters with hair color lighter than their skin color. it just looks so cool man. i love drawing freckles but dont put them on enough characters. i like really curly hair, but also really long and flowy hair. i like drawing triangular body types, and pointy/prominent noses.

-So One day Tristan comes up to him and hes like ‘Arthur is sending me out for this mission but I need you to go do your thing and scout out this place and these people and come back and tell me all you know thanks.’

-So according to the files tristan is gonna have to take out a corrupt country leader and all hoseok has to do really is check out how much security he has, who’s close to him, and what their best course of action is going to be.

-Sure he could just get close to the guy himself and use his pen poison but  he doesn’t like getting to close to a target you know

-So here we are at some boring meeting where a few country leaders are discussing important things like trading and not firing missiles at each other you know the usual

-And Hoseok has been trailing behind this guy, Lee Junhyuk, Lee Somin’s father SURPRISE BITCHES they all tie in together

-Anyway, as Hoseok is trailing this guy he can’t help but notice an attractive young woman at his side and he’s curious bc how did she get there like is she his secretary but she’s so young she can’t be any older than him and wow so pretty.

-So he’s acquired his first real target. You. LOL SEE THERE YOU ARE. chilling with a corrupt leader whats new

-Halfway through the day there’s like a little lunch banquet thing for VIP’S and the only way to get in is with a vip pass and Hoseok realizes you have one but he doesnt so how is he going to get close oh no what a dilemma.

-Just kidding

-Hoseok uses the stun feature on his cool kingsman watch on some guy walking down an empty hall. Then he knocks him out cold. Ties him up and locks him in a random room.

-And suddenly he’s a VIP and he not only gets valuable information but he also gets a good lunch? The last time he ate a good lunch was like 2 weeks ago when Arthur treated everybody because they completed a mission without nearly exposing themselves.

-So Hoseok is sitting at a table hoping to get a little bit closer to you but umm

-He? Cant? Find? You?

-Cue contact with galahad at kingsman hq

-‘Galahad, i need you to find someone for me in this building’

-‘Who?’

-‘She’s a girl, has a vip badge, shes wearing a peach colored shirt with a black pencil skirt and shes constantly pulling it down like its too short and uncomfortable and her hair is down but she has like a small crown on her head and i want to know where she is and everything we currently know about her.’

-Galahad is just ??????? is this part of the mission or are you in love bc that’s been happening a lot lately

-‘Umm okay give me one second.’

-So Hoseok takes this opportunity to munch on his meal and look around at the other VIPS and sure enough there is Lee Junhyuk with a security guard on every side of him so 4 in total with him plus all the supposed hidden ones but you cant hide from Hoseok

-Like the guy that’s constantly talking into his sleeve and looking around suspiciously, good going dude.

-Or the guy that straight up said ‘being undercover security is so boring’ like everyone thinks spotting undercover guards is so hard but if you just listen for .2 seconds and observe you’ve got them all or maybe Hoseok has just perfected it who knows

-‘Alright Gawain I’ve got her on the fourth floor of the building. She’s eating by herself. Third door on the left. These files are telling me her name is F/N L/N, 22 years old. She’s the daughter of a King but they’re from a small country, that still makes her a princess though. But I don’t happen to see her father anywhere and I don’t think he’s even on the list of leaders that are supposed to be present.’

-‘Thanks Galahad. I’ll contact you if i need anything else’

-‘Hoseok...I’m reading into a few things and I’m gonna need you to tread lightly here. You get out of there if things go South.’

-Hoseok gives a thumbs up knowing the super techy kingsman glasses are transmitting everything back to Galahad.

-So Hoseok follows Galahad’s directions  and he just so happens to ‘stumble’ into the same exact room you’re in

-You’re so startled when this guy walks in thatyou SPILL YOUR WHOLE DRINK ALL OVER YOURSELF GOSH DANG IT HOSEOK

-You make a really odd sound when the cold liquid seeps through the fabric of your clothes and onto your skin

-Hoseok blushes because he did not mean to scare you like that and it was totally an accident and oh my gosh what has he done your shirt is see through now!!!!

-‘I’m so so sorry.’ like the gentleman he is Hoseok shuts his eyes and immediately removes his suit jacket before blindly holding it out in hope that you’ll accept it.

-You’re a little reluctant but you also cant walk around with a see through shirt so you take the suit jacket and slip your arms throught the sleeves before buttoning it up.

-‘You can open your eyes now sir’

-Hoseok slowly opens his eyes just to be 100% positive you’re decent and he just burst into another fit of apologies because it was totally his fault and oh god the guys back at hq are probably laughing at him right now.

-‘Also sir is a bit much for me. I’m Hoseok the guy that just made you spill a whole glass of water on yourself. It’s a pleasure to meet you.’ Hoseok holds his hand out and you shake it before introducing yourself

-‘The pleasure is all mine. I’m Y/N.’

-‘Ah yes, the Princess of Elodea (lol this is a plant we’ve been using in my biology lab recently. Go bio majors!) right?

-Its your turn to blush because this handsome, charismatic gentleman knew who you were oh my gosh best day ever.

-‘Mhm. Soon to be Queen actually.’

-‘May I ask what you’re doing here by yourself, your highness?’

-You clear your throat as you slide the diamond ring on your finger on and off. Wow how did hoseok not notice that thing before oh my gosh.

-‘Umm my fiance. He’s very stubborn and I don’t think he really cares for these things. But I’m sure he’ll be a great...ruler to my people and when we unite our countries things will get better.’ You sounded like you were trying to convince yourself more than you were trying to convince Hoseok.

-‘What is your fiance’s name?’

-You look behind Hoseok at the door for a second before smiling

-“Lee Junhyuk”

-Hoseok is about to respond but Lee Junhyuk himself pushes him to the side before approaching you. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. THis OLD GUY with a daughter older than you was your fiance? Something was not right.

-‘Y/N! What happened to you? Has this man been harassing you? GUARDS! Remove this man immediately.’ You shy away from his touch as he tries to inspect you like some object to see if any damage has been done.

-‘No. no. I am alright. No need for the guards to come in and worry everyone. I spilled my drink you know clumsy me and he was just helping me by offering me his jacket so that I don’t walk around soaking wet.’

-Junghyuk is literally shooting death glares at Hoseok and he takes that as his cue to leave.

-‘I suppose I should be on my way then. It was a pleasure to meet you sir. Until next time’ Which should be SOON

-So Hoseok leaves that event with an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach like ehs so so so worried for you because you were definitely uncomfortable in there and he just had to leave you and oh my gosh Tristan was going to kill your fiance.

-Hoseok is back at hq later that night and he’s like hey guys we need to talk and the other guys just take their seats and the meeting starts lets go.

-‘Galahad there’s something youre not telling me’

-GALAHAD IS SWEATING BC A WORRIED UNHAPPY HOSEOK IS A SCARY HOSEOK.

-‘I was going to tell you but it would've ruined the mission…’

-‘FUCK THE MISSION SEOKJIN’

-Oh shIT hoseok just used galahad’s real name this is serious now

-‘This is about Y/N now. What aren’t you telling me and how are we going to help her?’

-‘So according to our files Y/N’s country was having financial issues up until a few months ago where they suddenly reported having more money than they’ve ever had. It was rumored that Y/N’s father had started his own drug cartel because it was really the only plausible explanation for the drastic increase in money.’

-Galahad looks at hoseok to gauge his reaction before continuing because oh my gosh that’s not even the bad part and he already looks pissed i hope he doesnt beat him.

-‘Y/N’s dad hadn’t done that though but he did... hand Y/N off to the highest bidder. The highest bidder was Lee Junhyuk which now makes him the future King of Elodea. As we know that would also tie Elodea and Y/N into the Somin drug cartel seeing as though Lee Junhyuk is Lee Somin’s father and they work together. We were initially targeting Junhyuk for his corrupt ways as the leader of his country...now we’re in a bit of a bind.’

-Everyone looks at Hoseok as they wait for him to say something anything really.

-‘So what are we waiting for? When do we get rid of this guy?’

-THATS NOT WHAT EVERYONE WAS EXPECTING

-‘I say we get Y/N to safety first and then Junhyuk is all yours tristan.’

-INITIATE PLAN: FUCK JUNHYUK UP

-It takes a few days to get coordinated but usually it takes weeks so this is good so far

-Lancelot and Kay will be clearing the path to you and Junhyuk respectively so that Hoseok can get to you and tristan can get to junhyuk. Tristans job is to eliminate. Hoseok job is to extract. Arthur and Galahad will remain at hq and oversee the mission through the transmissions from the glasses. Percival has been tasked with manning the helicopter that will get everyone back to hq.

-Shit goes down. Like junhyuk’s home is huge and even galahad has a hard time figuring out the best routes but things get done eventually.

-Lancelot is literally mowing guards down with this wild umbrella shotgun and by the time Hoseok gets to you you’re hiding under a bed of all places.

-‘Y/N? Are you in here?’

-You recognize that voice its the same guy from a few days ago. You never did catch his name.

-There you go crawling out from under the bed to a total stranger that may or may not be here to actually kill you but you’re gonna take your chances.

-‘What’s going on?’ You’re kind of scared but from the short time you’ve spent with this man he seems like a good guy and you trust him???? After only a couple minutes of conversation???

-Hes just so smiley and charming and a gentleman and its hard not to you know its Hoseok

-‘I  don’t have much time to explain right now. We have to get out of here first before this place blows.’ BLOWS??? DID HE JUST SAY THIS PLACE WAS GONNA BLOW????? Holy shit!!!!

-OF COURSE LANCELOT KEEPS YOU SAFE HES THE GOLDEN BOY

-Tristan and Kay have done their part by setting up the explosives. Lancelot and Gawain have escorted Y/N out Percival was at the pick up spot and galahad and arthur were satisfied with how things had gone. 30 seconds later Gawain is spotted headed towards the helicopter carrying the other members and you and he hops in.

-Everyone questions him bc he just disappeared umm what? But he doesn’t respond. Arthur gives tristan the go to push the detonator and percival tells everyone to hang on and the detonator is pushed and OH MY GOSH…

-Nothing happened.

-No explosion. It was a bust someone must have gotten to the explosives and messed with them FUCK

-Mission failed

-Gawain puts his glasses on

-‘Galahad. Pull up the security camera in Junhyuk’s office.

-‘Umm okay’

-Galahad does that and there’s Junhyuk throwing books and papers and his chair and everything in sight he is LIVID. LIVID BC HIS FUTURE WIFE HAS BEEN STOLEN AND SOMEONE JUST TRIED TO KILL HIM

-He’s shouting out orders and once everyone leaves the room and he’s alone he just takes a seat and pours himself a drink.

-His LAST DRINK

-This sucker just drinks straight out of the bottle. The only bottle in the room after Hoseok went in there and broke all except one.

-Everyone is kinda like what are we looking at and why

-Hoseok pulls out his small notebook and his fancy kingsman pen from his pocket and hands it over to you.

-‘Y/N. Would you mind giving me your phone number?’

-You kind of look at him like umm now?? And hoseok nods. You shrug your shoulders and click the pen before writing your number. When you try to unclick the pen you can’t and hoseok points to a small button on the pen. You push it and the pen unclicks.

-Also what the guys can see but you cant since you dont have fancy kingsman glasses

-YOU JUST KILLED JUNHYUK. BC HOSEOK PUT HIS INACTIVE PEN POISON IN THAT ONE BOTTLE AND WHEN YOU PUSHED THAT BUTTON IT ACTIVATED.

-HES DEAD

-DONE FOR

-GONE

-You’re a little confused when the guys cheer and give Hoseok a thumbs up

OHHHHHH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. oh my GOD. okay i lose my shit over Designations Congruent with Things on a yearly basis because it is, by far, one of the most stunning pieces of fiction ive read. full stop. not only is it a feat of fanfiction (it’s GODDAMN LONG. it’s been taken off of ao3, so i cant check the wc, but damn i remember it was long), but as a story, it’s just. god, i dont even know what to say. ive already talked about this fic in a previous ask, so im just going to reiterate all my love again, just phrased slightly differently.

DCwT is an epic piece of Newt/Hermann Pacific Rim fanfiction. it follows Hermann and Newt after the events of the movie and delve painfully into each and every consequence their actions cause. it’s quite possibly the hardest thing ive ever read, for many reasons; the emotions are so vivid and they hurt; the science is so well researched it took me an hour to get through a paragraph because i my brain was still trying to catch up; Run On Sentences For Miles; it’s really, really goddamn long. i remember it got some flack for being over complicated, but in my opinion, the things that make this fic difficult are exactly what make it incredible. it’s overly cerebral in a way two messed up genius scientists would absolutely be. this fic is. i dont have words for it. i have only read the whole thing in its entirety ONCE and i have tried to reread it but goddamn is it difficult. this fic is definitely not for everybody, but it’s a piece of art that gained a bit of a cult following back when it was updating. (theres a fictional band in the fic that inspired ppl to make the band and the music real. RIGHT???) anyway this fic is basically the cornerstone which i worship when it comes to fanfiction as a genre of literature. jesus christ. jesus christ.

HUMOR. this fic is perfect. literally no other words. it’s just perfect. i read this in my last few months of senior year high school, and never before have i ever read a fic that actually, truly, felt like it was about teenagers. the narrative and the voice. the dialog. god. if this were a book, id buy it. and that’s saying something because im always BROKE. but id buy this fic. several times. who am i kidding. you dont need to know this bc youve read this fic before. if you havent, please. do yourself a favor. oh my god. oh my god. I LOVE THIS FIC SOOOOOOO MUCH. it’s a really delicate, heartfelt piece that isnt afraid to be an asshole sometimes, which is basically jim kirk in a nutshell. not only does it go through an incredible reflective relationship with some rando vulcan who decided to take him under his wing, but it does so in a realistic way that doesnt over dramatize aspects, but still ends up very vivid. also, THERES VULCAN LINGUISTICS. linguistics + fanfiction = 10000000% Best Shit EVER.

ghghgfjhdh the first xmen fic i ever read and by far, the most fukcgin hilarious. jesus CHRIST. theres just something subtly incredible about how the author uses phrasing to make every sentence as goddamn funny as they are. im really in love with the comma placement in this fic. every comma is exactly where it needs to be. every em dash is where it belongs. IM NOT MAKING SENSE, but i would send this fic to people as a prime example of narrative humor uplifted via phrasing and punctuation. just read this fic. it’s got Hank POV, Charles being a “strange lecherous Englishman”, Peter being a Teen, and everybody drags Erik’s fashion choices.
