HxH Theory

Hi! And here we are again! With a new HxH theory ( 2 theories pratically into one ), that obivously is only A TOUGHT OF MINE AND WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TOGASHI SENSEI WILL DO FOR THE NEXT CHAPTERS. Said that....

Is possible that Gon and Fugetsu could be Brother and Sister, or even Twins ? The physical appareance is a subtle 1st hint

And many noted also many similiarities between personality and whatever that can really make think. If this can be true, then it would give a good plot twist and also a new route for the character, as probably someone can make hint over the fact that she's not like at all at her family and something like that. So... it will end up like what happend to Gon. Obivously is not the Depart to take an Exam and then travel all over the world to find your biological family, sure no. But... Sometime ago here on Tumblr i've found a post where someone did a meta about HxH and a sort of Moebius Ring, where everything is begenning all over again but also at the same time a sort of parallel between the past arcs and the ones that will come. So, if there's going a new path in HxH, that can also be a sort of parallel to Gon's, maybe that will be her's. Also we know that Fugetsu is not totally a naive Child: she's Analytical, has a nen beast that let's her to go anywhere she wants, useful for Exploring like she did ALREADY in this arc, and has resolution by protect her beloved ones, like we saw in ch.400. So a news like " you don't belong there. Not with them" or something like that, who'll in this case inadvertidly will assume Kite's role ( he was the one that we should thank due that thanks to him Gon choose to search ging and do the hunter exam ), Will Provoke a new course of events, that will also mirror the beginning of HxH itself. Obivously she'll want to know more about it, and at the right time, she will start by her own, even tought is obivous that she can't do it all alone. So maybe she will probably ask to a Hunter to hunt down somebody of her biological family or somebody or something near to it. And everything will come naturally. And obivously i think that if this is really going to happen, then ( ok, Togashi sensei will ever do it in everycase anyway ) Gon and Killua will surely come back, Maybe for Leorio and Kurapika as the Catalyst for the reunion that maybe will even include Alluka And Maybe Mito-san ( even tought that's only a tought of mine that she'll maybe tries to stop Gon and maybe in a way or another she'll end up going with them, so thus far also provoking a sudden reunion with Ging ). If this will ever happen, then everything will come by itself. And maybe at the end she will found out that the one she was searching we're with her all along and, knowing how Ging is, maybe we will end up with a cute Twins/brother and sister reunion at the end, with a take like Gon choosing to be for his newfound twin/sister the always there for you figure that he hoped Ging would ever be. But That's ONLY A TOUGHT OF MINE AND WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TOGASHI SENSEI WILL DO FOR THE NEXT CHAPTERS.

I think that Ging Freecss and Fugetsu Hui Guo Rou would have interesting interactions if they were to meet. Aka, more rambling about Fugetsu just waaaay longer now:

I'm not saying it as a particular theory post, or that I think they're MEANT to meet and form some kind of relationship, just that I believe their personalities and motivations compliment each other, or that they both have something that the other values.

Fugetsu at the moment isn't a super complex character, as of current events it's been revealed that she cares very deeply for her sister, knows very little about nen (she calls it "magic"), but is, at least, a determined character and is willing to learn and take risks in order to survive and protect her sister. She is as normal of a girl as we've had in this series, and I find that very endearing.

I'm sure you must be thinking then that she couldn't be any more different from Ging, who is a learned prodigy and a loner. If they were to interact, I'm sure many would think that he would brush her aside, but actually, I think that Ging often prioritizes a strong heart and a caring personality over innate skill. He does so with Leorio, saying that he possesses a lot of potential, despite how Leorio has seemed to have been lacking in skill to most everyone else in-universe. He also seems to value Leorio's friendship with Gon. Though Ging never seems eager to form lasting relationships himself, he seems to value other people's ability to do so. It's for this reason that I think that Ging would quite like Fugetsu, if he were to meet her.

I also think that Fugetsu would like Ging, or at least envy him. It's only stated once, but it's also represented in her ability that Fugetsu has a strong desire to travel the world, or at least, she values "the ability to go anywhere".

This coincides with Ging, whose desire to go anywhere, do anything, is a very prominent part of his character. With her very limited knowledge of nen, Ging's sheer skill and power would probably shock her, but I also think that it would inspire her. Like I said before, she possesses a strong desire to learn and grow. If she were to meet Ging, I'd say that she'd wish to be as strong as him, so she could also fulfill her own desire for freedom and protect her sister. Though this second desire is of course impossible now, as we all know...

How that may affect her and her desire for freedom is anyone's guess, but I would like to add that Ging and Fugetsu share one more similarity, or at least they share one more thing to gain from each other:

I believe that Ging cared for his son. However his being a father to Gon, traveling with Gon like how he'd done until his son was two, is no longer possible in my opinion. Ging knows this, and continues to travel and explore knowing this.

Fugetsu has lost her sister, her only relative that she feels safe with. She doesn't know this yet, but her dream to go anywhere, anytime, with the person that she loves and cares about the most, she can no longer do.

They both have something in their personalities that the other would value; they both have something that the other would gain from situationally. For example, Fugetsu could escape from the succession battle and travel the world with Ging. Ging could teach someone nen again, something he seemed to enjoy with Kite, but with the added twist that Fugetsu might be the perfect person for Ging to interact with positively.

I'd also like to point out one last thing, and it's that Fugetsu and Gon look INCREDIBLY alike:

This was pointed out by someone on Twitter a long time ago, but the eyes, the nose, shape of the mouth- it is all the same. That could of course be a coincidence, like I said this isn't exactly a theory post, but that, on top of all this other stuff strikes me as very noticeable, at the very least.

okay. so i really like the parallels and the foils and the environmental storytelling in train to busan like. how it all comes down to selfishness vs. selflessness and sacrifice and every man for himself vs. working together and cruelty vs. compassion and the spreading of hate vs. the spreading of kindness like wow. i love a good zombie movie with overall simple themes but executed perfectly.

i like the little parallels especially when the dad group and the selfish asshole group were trying to get in/trying to keep the other out. when the selfish and fearful group were fighting to keep the doors shut because of their paranoia and cruelty vs. the sang hwa fighting to keep the zombies out and sacrificing himself for the good of everyone. i like how he passed that torch of kindness and the protector role onto the other dad and how he too died a martyr how his ultimate enemy by the end of the film wasn’t the zombies but the man who was essentially the person he used to be. not willing to help anyone only caring for himself. and while people on the good side like the sisters and the teenagers still died in the end it was only because of other people’s cruelty and unwillingness to help that ultimately lead to their deaths. u know it’s ppl dying because they sacrificed their self vs. ppl dying because they sacrificed others.

also about the storytelling this is again a very simple thing but how the environment on the train tells us everything we need to know about zombies in this movie. how we learn about their lack of intelligence and poor eyesight due to things like the train doors and tunnels. how we learn about their immediate reactions to sounds through baseballs tumbling off of the luggage racks. ..after half watching promare earlier it was nice to see some classic show don’t tell and have it engage u throughout the movie.

top ten baddest bitches in hunter x hunter’s succession contest arc

I hope you’re ready for six+ pages of meta

cw: suicide mention, spreadsheets, spoilers up to Chapter 390

NO. 10 : SHIMANO

If you don’t remember Shimano, she is Oito’s last surviving maid, and the one who straight up ignored Kurapika when he told her to answer Benjamin’s call first.

To not do what Kurapika tells you to do, especially when he’s like this takes an insane amount of guts. You have to remember that she just watched two people die, one of whom was her co-worker. Her head is so level you could build a house on it.

She had a better strategy, she was not afraid to go through with it, she didn’t bother wasting precious time to explain herself beforehand, and she was not afraid to let him know that he was incorrect.

She’s bad as hell!!!!!!

Shimano: lmao like hell

What makes her interesting is that her main motivation during this succession contest is to get out alive. While she later explains to Oito that she is staying out of duty for the royal family, I suspect that she isn’t exactly attached to the young queen, which is entirely reasonable given the situation that she’s in. I mean, she’s here to do a job.

Shimano did not know what she was signing up for, but she has not fumbled the ball once since getting on this murder cruise; something that has earned her Kurapika’s respect. I hope that cements her role as a larger player during this arc, and I really hope Togashi gives her more time to shine.

Fun Fact: she’s called Shimanu ONLY in Volume 36 of the Viz Translation.

Survival Rating: 4/5, she might pull a Bizeff and get out by the skin of her teeth, and there’s no one actively trying to kill her.

NO 09: MELODY

Oh sweet, sweet Melody, how I love you so. We haven’t seen too much action from her, but the reason she has placed on this list is her performance during the second banquet.

In order to give Kacho and Fugetsu a chance to escape, she pulled a Hisoka and revealed her ability to literally anyone who would listen, placing herself in serious danger

Little does she know how much trouble this is going to get her into, especially now that Tserriednich is interested, and it’s safe to say she won’t get back to bodyguard business anytime soon. Please, please keep yourself safe, Melody.

Survival Rating: 5/5 bc I just can’t accept even the thought of a reality where Melody isn’t alive

NO. 08: QUEEN OITO HUI GUO ROU

Listen, we’ve all entertained the fantasy of going from sugar baby to trophy wife, but few of us are unlucky enough to turn that dream into a reality. I bet you she was living her Hot Girl Summer until all of this happened, and honestly, good for her.

But by GOD was she ready to give it up to face the Succession Contest head on. She switched it up on us at the start by specifically targeting people who wanted to kill or control Prince Halkenburg, the current favorite to win. There was no hoping or wishing that things were different, she did the only thing that she could do in her situation: stack the odds in her favor as much as she possibly could. And I’m not gonna lie, she really lucked out. Kurapika is someone you want on your side if you’re trying not to die.

My favorite thing about Oito is how well she handles the pressure of her situation; she just picks it up and runs. Who can afford to feel pride when your daughter’s life is on the line? Need a cockroach? Start screaming! You’re the Queen and this is your house. You get what you want, Oito.

As someone on the bottom of the ladder, there simply is no time to entertain fantasies of grandeur. Oito never tries to check out of reality, like so many of the other Queens have done. She is not here to play around, she is here to play the game.

Unfortunately, her convictions lie in the fact that she thinks she and Woble can get off the boat alive, a theory disproven by Kacho and Fugetsu’s ill fated attempt in Chapter 383. Given the change of circumstances, how far will she let herself go to survive, and what will she have to give up?

If we’re being honest, the only way I can see this playing out well for her is if there’s a fire, or an iceberg, or i don’t know, a riot caused by a murder cult that somehow forces everyone on tier one to evacuate, and she just happens to be the last on to get a life boat, but I highly doubt that things are going to be that convenient for her.

Survival Rating: 2/5

NO. 07: KACHO AND FUGETSU HUI GUO ROU

These girls are willing to do anything, ANYTHING to get themselves off of this ship, including but not limited to, learning morse code, going into unknown territory unguarded, and risking their own lives in order to protect the other. And they’re like what, 14? 15?

Kacho said FUCK boomers

They worked, they planned, they gathered allies, and experimented, and they would have succeeded were it not for the curse that put their lives in danger in the first place.

It was so hard not to root for them. When we learned the truth about Kacho’s ability, I literally screamed. This is Gift of the Magi on steroids, and watching this animated, if it ever does get animated is going to be a tough ride for me, and I will start crying again.

These sisters have a heartbreaking devotion to each other’s safety, and I’m terrified to find out how Fugetsu will react once she learns the truth about her sister’s sacrifice. Will it break her? Will it make her stronger? My money is on the latter for now, but the way this arc is going, who the hell knows?

The beginning of her arc and even the passive nature of her symbiotic nen beast frames her as a co-dependent character. While Kacho 2.0 is still, technically, an active player in the form of a nen-beast, she is a nen-beast, something that I suspect will be picked up by either a bodyguard or someone from the Hunter’s association if Kacho’s original body is never recovered. Someone will have to break the news to Fugetsu eventually, setting her character up for some fantastic trajectory. She will either have to lean into her budding independence, or rely on Kacho for what might be the rest of her short life.

They have a lot to reconcile with once when we see them again. They’re in baby jail, Their most loyal bodyguard is dead, and Melody is temporarily out of the picture thanks to her stunt at the banquet. With mostly enemy bodyguards left in their employment, she has a lot of growing up to do. I hope this doesn’t make her an easy target. We’re rooting for you Fugetsu!!

Survival Rating: 3/5

NO 06: BISCUIT KRUEGER

I am so fucking glad that Biscuit Krueger is on this boat, I love her, she’s unstoppable, I don’t need to explain why she’s on this list. My only wish is that we get to see her beat the shit out of someone who really deserves it. Could she take on Benjamin? Probably. I hope she does. She’s got like twenty years on him.

Survival Rating: 5/5 because I just don’t think she’s capable of dying

NO 05: MACHI KOMACINE

Oh she’s on a mission, and honestly fuck Chrollo and Illumi because I would pay to see her rip that clown apart. Look at this face? How can you not get chills. I love this for her.

Revenge won’t fill the hole in your heart where Kortopi and Shalnark used to live, and honestly I don’t know if you can survive a second tussle with Hisoka, but you Go Get Him Queen.

Survival Rating: 1/5 Togashi said she ain’t gettin off the boat, and I’m inclined to believe him on this one. She’s had a good run. I just hope she pulls some wicked sick shit before she goes.

NO 04: MORENA PRUDE

Edgy, Nihilist, Boss Babe, Patient Zero, Bisexual Icon, Murder Messiah, the Joker wishes that he was Morena Prude so fucking bad. She is so more committed to burning this world to the ground. If you thought we needed more women in positions of leadership, here she is. She’s like the Herbalife of homicide. Let’s take a look at the math.

Assuming most people aren’t nen users and the Hunter x Hunter world population is about the same as ours, 7 billion, she runs out of people to kill/infect by round 13, making this a great way of causing the mass extinction of the human race, and a fantastic way to run a multi-level marketing scheme.

She looks like she’s handling being a boss pretty well, and her 22 picks for Contagion seem to be pretty good choices. They’re legit, they know what they’re doing, they’re loyal, and they’re really excited to straight up go Purge Night on this yacht.

While it’s safe to assume that Morena has already killed between 9 to 45 people, the only reason she’s not higher on this list is because we haven’t seen her do much except set off this gigantic domino chain of problems. Her influence on the arc looks like it’s going to be more passive, but she’s definitely here to make a splash. Her nihilism, and her connections to Tserriednich have me thinking that she might to be a crucial late-game player when things go completely fucking awol.

Ahaha, everyone in that boat is in terrible danger.

Survival Rating: 1/5 because bad girls live fast, die young

NO 03: SARAHELL

We do not know a lot about Sarahell, but her name has Hell in it and she’s willing to perform suicide in order to kill an infant and if that doesn’t make you Bad than I don’t know what the hell does.

Out of all the women on this list, she’s the only one that really scares me. Not only is she willing to risk her life, she wants to die for Camilla in the most efficient way possible. Woble is in her crosshairs, and if she’s as good as acting like a two-faced bitch as she says she is, we’re not in for a good time. I doubt that Kurapika would let her anywhere near the Prince, but I don’t know. They might fake an alliance, something that the Oito and Kurapika have been very open about. I can see her offering up information on Tserriednich in an attempt to wedge her way in. She might even help them out a bunch before she goes in for the kill.

This is a legitimate assassination attempt, and one that’s a lot more sophisticated than Vincent’s. They’re in for a fight over in room 1014.

2/5 it would be interesting if she somehow managed to survive and had to live with the guilt of failure. Sarahell that she is prepared for that possibility, but I don’t think she knows how badly things can go for her yet.

NO 02: CAMILLA HUI GUO ROU

Camilla, Camilla, Camilla literally what part of you is not bad to the bone.

I think she might have as many costume changes as Killua?

We are first properly introduced to Camilla when she asks her dear old dad if he could, quote, “not accept dropouts that are not biological death,” meaning that she fully intends for every single one of her brother and sisters to die, and she doesn’t give a fuck who knows.

The next time we meet her, she’s instructing her mother to buy a bunch of designer clothes, and in the SAME BREATH she goes “Oh yeah, you need to kill your son for me, okay? Thanks.”

And you have really got to feel for Duazul here. Like. She’s got four kids and the most to lose in this game. She’s doing her best to keep it together.

Anyways, back to Camilla: uh, her nen ability? Are you kidding me? Who taught her nen? Who told her she could do that? Was the first thing that popped into her head “giant cat-shaped nen curse that activates when I’m murdered?” What kind of things do you have to do to form this kind of ability?

And don’t even get me started on her fascist suicide death cult. She’s taken advantage of people from the lowest caste of society and turned their gratitude into fanaticism. You cannot buy this kind of loyalty, especially when you expect your personal guard to do this. Which is insane, considering I don’t think she’s planning on abolishing the caste system any time soon.

Where Benjamin takes a more traditional approach to this war, aka strongarm the competition until they forfeit, Camilla has taken the most extreme measures to ensure that she wins. She does not expect anyone to survive, including herself, and has based her entire plan around that. If Benjamin is a lion, then Camilla is a steam roller.

As someone who has had it her way her entire life, she’s convinced herself that there is no possibility that she can fail, a trait that makes her nen ability so powerful. However, this determination is quickly turning into tunnel vision, and when people don’t play into her games, she doesn’t leave herself with a way out.

Which leaves us with a very interesting problem: if she dies on the black whale in a way that she cannot be resuscitated, what is her personal guard going to do? It’s hard to believe that they won’t want anything but total retribution, especially when they have nothing else to lose.

Bar Tserriednich, and maybe Halkenburg, I truly believe that she’s one of the most dangerous players on the Level One.

NO 01: THETA

Theta is the baddest bitch on the boat, and that’s a hill that I’m willing to die on.

Who else has the resolve, the guts, the conviction to take this crazy motherfucker out for the greater good? Even after getting caught red handed, she’s still making moves to make sure that Tserriednich gets his ass assassinated. Period

When she finds out what an insane risk his nen poses does she get scared? Does she try to run? Does she try to bargain with the situation? No! She puts her big girl pants on and understands what she has to do. Shoot him in the head point blank because he’s nasty.

Note: in the Viz Translation she thinks, “I have to do this. I’m the only one who can...!!”

What puts her at the number one spot is her willingness to accept the consequences of her actions. Unlike Sarahell, there is literally nothing in this for her. The fact that she alone put herself up for this sacrifice speaks miles about her character, and since nen and personality work hand in hand, I’m really looking forward to seeing her Hatsu. I bet it’s sick as hell.

Considering that Tserriednich is the big bad of Succession Arc, it’s safe to assume that Theta is going to take an important supporting role in his downfall. Listen, I am counting my blessings and praying every day that her and Kurapika find common ground and team up in the next batch of chapters. These two have too much in common not to do so, and I can’t wait to see what she does next.

There is a lot to expect from what is one of my favorite characters in Succession Arc. She relies on herself, has her head on straight, and is willing to clock any bitch that needs dealt with.

You may not agree with me, and that’s fine, but on a list full of baddies, I dub her the baddest.

Survival Rating: Theta, I hope you live to see the end, but I’m going to give you a 2/5 on the survival scale because you are on thin ice, sister. Good luck and Godspeed.

I hope it's okay to ask, what do you think about the theory of Zhang, Luzurus and Tserriednich being illegitimate children? Do you think is a red herring or something plausible?

Tbh I have never heard of this theory before now, so I don’t really have many thoughts on it. I guess that when it comes to Zhang Lei, all comes down to it:

Here, he might be referring to Onior as his father either because he considers him his father and has a special relationship with him or because Onior is in fact Zhang Lei’s biological father.

In short, I can see why this theory might have been born in reguards to Zhang Lei, but I don’t understand why it should reguard Lazarus and Tserriednich as well. Is it because they have, like Zhang Lei, ties with the other two mafia families? It could be possible that both Onior and Brocco Li have had illegitimate children with two queens and that they have tried to take care of their kids by having them become close to their respective mafia families. Assuming that is the case, though, I think we should make some considerations.

1) I wonder if Nasubi knows about this. After all, he, as a King, can have multiple kids with multiple wives and even with lovers. However, I doubt queens are given the same degree of freedom and, even if they were, their half-children should not have any right to the throne. After all, Morena is Nasubi’s own daughter and yet she has no right because she was not born from one of Nasubi’s wives. However, it is also possible that Nasubi might be willing to close an eye both to avoid scandals and because it might be an unwritten rule of Kakin, as the second consideration will try to explore.

2) Onior and Brocco Li have utilitaristic reasons to support the princes tied with their mafia families. This is true both if Zhang Lei and Lazarus are their biological children and if they are not. That said, if they are, I can see their births having to do more with interest than with love. Brocco Li and Onior could have had a biological son among the princes, so that he would have represented the interests of their respective families. This would be an interesting twists because it would show how the rule according to which “second rate” children have to stay uninvolved in politics is clearly a farce.

In short, if the theory is true, it could be used to highlight the hypocrisy of the Royal Family and how intertwined with the underworld it actually is. It is precisely against this hypocrisy that Morena is rebelling. As a matter of fact she has the same blood of her half-siblings, but, simply because her mother was not a queen (and we have seen how queens can be of modest origins, like Oito), she is considered second rated. If Lazarus and Zhang Lei are indeed illegitimate children (and even more illegitimate than her, in a sense), but are still treated as princes and tolerated, then I can see it exasperating Morena’s hatred.

Speaking of her, Morena and Tserriednich seem to break the pattern. As a matter of fact, Morena is Tserriednich’s half-sister and not his mother. I personally think that Tserriednich being associated to the Heil-Ly family has to do with both him and Morena being foils of Kurapika and Chrollo, as I have written here:

Morena is set-up to be a foil to both Chrollo and Kurapika.

She and Chrollo are both outcasts and both are leading a group. However, their powers are somehow opposite. As a matter of fact Chrollo steals others’ powers and has stolen even the ones of his comrades in order to fight Hisoka. Morena’s power on the other hand lets her comrades gain new abilities the more they kill.

What is more, both her and Chrollo have religious imagery associated with them since Chrollo is associated to both Jesus and the devil and Morena is wearing a crown made of thorns exactly like the one Jesus wore. Moreover they both encourage their respective groups to create chaos. And they both don’t really care about their own lives.

Kurapika and Morena are foils in the sense that they are both doing the same thing, but in completely different ways.

If we consider what is happening in the first tier and in the lower ones we can notice how Morena and Kurapika are being the most active players right now and how, in a sense, what they are doing is similar. As a matter of fact they are both trying to make normal people develop nen abilities, but they go at it in opposite ways.

Kurapika is trying to do so in a pacific way. He is using Bill’s power, which isn’t particularly dangerous, so that people can easily awake without hurting themselves or others. Kurapika’s objective in doing so is trying to preserve the status quo, so that the princes can survive until the boat reaches its destination.

Whereas Morena is trying to have people develop hatsu abilities through violence which specifically targets the status quo and the society Morena herself was born in. Let’s also underline how the members of her group are considered civilians and not mafia members.

Now, the way nen is used by these two characters is interesting to me. As a matter of fact nen has been introduced since the beginning as something which must be kept secret and which only few people know about. However, both Kurapika and Morena are trying to increase the number of individuals who can use this incredibly strong and dangerous power. Actually, Kurapika is doing so even if it goes against the rules of the hunter organization.

And here:

At the same time Tserriednich’s power reminds me a little of Emperor Time. As a matter of fact both powers are connected to time and to seconds passing specifically.

For now I don’t see many similarities other than a generic connection to time, but from this we can already see how the two characters have a completely different concept of the value of their respective times.

Kurapika doesn’t care at all and is ready to throw it away in exchange of a power which can help him to reach his objective.

Tserriednich on the other hand is incredibly self-entitled and his power basically lets him gain ten seconds for free.

I think this difference mirrors Kurapika and Tserriednich’s opposite and extreme mentalities. Kurapika doesn’t care about his life and ends up putting himself in danger for others, while Tserriednich cares too much about his own persona and can’t see others (for example he never suspected Theta could be planning to kill him and is genuinely surprised when he sees it happening).

This difference is also shown in the current chapters where Tserriednich is concentrated on his own training and doesn’t care much about others, while Kurapika is trying to give the greatest number of people possible the chance to use nen and he is ready to use ET in order to do so. This despite the fact that, as Bill points out, there are no guarantees that the people Kurapika helped will help him in return.

However, since they are both set up to be foils of two major characters, they will probably foil each other as well. If that is the case, Tserriednich being an illegitimate child could come back to bite him in the ass, especially because of the high opinion he has of himself.

Finally, if this theory is true, it might be interesting if it played some role in breaking the rules of the succession war. After all, it has been stated by Kurapika that the war is happening because of a system of vows and conditions. This is why Kurapika thinks that if even one person is able to forfeit, the whole system will crumble on itself. As for now, we have seen two attempts to give up on the war, but they both failed. On one hand Halkenburg tried to rationally not take part in the war, but uncounsciously he wanted to fight to change his country. On the other hand Kachou and Fugetsu tried to run away, but failed. In the end, it is possible we will have a successful attempt. Who knows? Maybe having some illegitimate children taking part in the war will help breaking the system.

In conclusion, I do not know if this theory is true. So far, the most convincing evidence is Zhang Lei’s conversation with Onior, but it could be explained in another way. That said, it could be an interesting way to use the mafia family motif in relation to the three princes. This is why, in my answer, I mostly rambled about some interesting implications of this theory and how it could influence characters and themes. Basically, I am neutral to it so far. It might be true, but there is not a ton of evidence.

book of secrets 6: On a sunny Tuesday afternoon, the late sunlight glowing in your hair

notes: the best part about this write-a-day thing is how I just generally ignore the actual prompt half the time in favor of doing what I want. anyways, felt like actually moving the plot on this one--none of these are in order, but there is a general order in my head. killugon, T (killua uses the fuck word once), 1460 words.

It takes Gon four months and six days to figure out where Killua went after he gave the Book his Secret. Not for lack of trying—Gon does everything he can short of tracking down Kite to beg for help. Every Door he could find, every spell the Book had, anything to try to find his best friend. Illumi Zoldyck has shown up at the Freecss house every week like clockwork, his threats culminating when he used family connections to try to lock Gon in jail for a night on accusations of kidnapping. The only reason Gon hadn’t gotten in even more trouble was that he’d opened a Door in the back of the policewoman’s car and vanished. Aunt Mito’s yelled at him more than once, has grounded him for life for skipping classes. But she hasn’t found the Book, so Gon can keep opening Doors.

Killua was supposed to be the one who took the Book. That had been the deal. Or so Gon had thought. The Book didn’t lie. The Books can’t lie, except for the Book of Promises. But Gon’s Book of Secrets hid something in the bargain of Killua’s first Door, and it refused to let Gon follow directly.

He should have asked Kite. The real Kite. But that’s a secret he can’t even tell the Book.

So Gon had searched, high and low, in underwater worlds and kingdoms nestled on clouds, in worlds impossible to comprehend and worlds achingly similar to Gon’s own. Every Door is a little easier to open, but the mark circling his arm becomes thicker and darker, until it’s a band of black dark as the space between worlds. Gon can feel it seeping through his skin sometimes, even when he’s not opening Doors. Worse are the whispers that follow him, ghostly echoes that sound like windchimes and breaking glass, scattering from every open Door and vanishing when they close. The others, those with the Books, have noticed it too, mentioning it in whispers when they think Gon’s not listening, as though he’s too young to know when there are ghosts traveling in the spaces between.

It should worry him. It doesn’t, though. It’s the price for what he did, and it lets him find Killua. Gon doesn’t care what happens to himself after that.

The last Door, a tip from a strange colorful man with a malicious twinkle in his eyes who looked at Gon’s arm and knew, opens on a tiny farm nestled in a mountain valley. It’s so green, greener than Whale Island, dirt roads sketching spiderweb paths through endless fields speckled with flowers in every color imaginable. The farmhouse is an eye-burning shade of yellow, brighter than the sun glittering above in a pale orange sky. Here and there, the fields thin out, revealing pens full of animals that look like sheep, if sheep could be purple and the size of cows. When Gon takes a step towards them, he thinks he sees fangs.

“You really don’t want to do that,” a familiar voice calls, and Gon nearly drops the Book. “They look cute, but they really don’t like new people. Took me days to—"

“Killua?” he says, the name sticking in his throat.

His best friend leans on the other side of the fence, one hand ruffling the fur of a fanged purple sheep. His white hair is longer, curling out from beneath a wide-brimmed black hat that covers the rest of his face. Woven into the hat are a strange golden script, the letters struggling to become readable as Gon stares.

And stares.

And then breaks into a sprint.

Killua barely has time to look up before Gon barrels into him, sending them both flying. The sheep baa out of the way as Killua’s hat goes flying away, landing somewhere. Gon doesn’t pay attention. He’s too busy laughing, and crying, and listening to Killua’s sobs of laughter in his ears.

“Took you long enough,” is the first thing his best friend says once they both can breathe, and that sets Gon off again.

It takes them both awhile to calm down, long enough that a few of the sheep start gnawing at Killua’s hat. Killua waves them away as best he can. “I’m helping out,” he says. “Kacho and Fugetsu, they’re the sisters who own the farm, but they gave me a place to stay when I fell out of the Door.”

At the mention of a Door, Gon swallows. “Were you okay?”

Killua gestures at himself, at the sturdy jeans and boots that look more like Gon’s sort of clothing than Killua’s. “You didn’t tell me that opening a Door meant opening all of them,” he says. “The first Door took me where you said it would, the broken castle with the chocolate clocks. I waited for you for…I don’t know, Gon. When you didn’t show up, I got really angry. And I tried to open more Doors, but that only landed me—other places.” He shudders, and Gon has a feeling he understands. “So I’m here. Have been for a month or so. I think I’m getting better at magic, but time’s weird here.”

“Are you still angry?” Gon asks. He had looked everywhere he could, had tried every Door, but that almost wasn’t enough.

A flicker of sorrow ripples across Killua’s face, before it’s replaced with bemused resignation. “You tried to find me, right?” he says. “And you did. So I can’t be angry with you.”

Gon relaxes. “I’m happy to see you, Killua. I missed you a lot.”

His friend doesn’t even bother to scowl, even though he blushes furiously. “Yeah. Me too. I…it’s been a long time. I didn’t know if—well, it was hard to figure out where I was, and where you were, and…”

I think I love you.

Gon’s grip on the Book tightens. He’s fifteen now, and those words have been locked in his ears as surely as they’re stuck to the pages of the Book of Secrets. A Secret so big that it could be used to open Doors to other words, as long as it stays trapped in the pages. A Secret so big that Gon doesn’t know what will happen if he mentions it. And here’s Killua, standing with sunlight in his hair and blue eyes clear, skin a little burnt from the foreign skies, and Gon doesn’t know how to ask if he still feels the same way.

If Gon feels the same way.

“—your arm?”

Gon blinks, and turns slightly, keeping his arm out of sight. “My arm?”

“Yeah, there’s something…” Killua doesn’t quite manage to grab onto Gon’s arm, but he snags a wrist, keeping him stuck long enough to push the edge of his sleeves up to his elbow. Killua’s blue eyes grow round. “What the fuck, Gon?”

He yanks himself out of Killua’s grip. “It’s nothing.”

“It’s not nothing! That’s dark magic, Gon, I’ve seen it. It’s not safe. It’s not—”

“I’m fine,” Gon says, and smiles. He knew what he was doing when he went into this. It had been his choice to make, and he made it willingly. He just didn’t expect Killua to find out so soon.

But the reassurance only makes Killua’s eyes narrow dangerously. “My brother does that to other people. You can’t bind yourself like that. It’s not right.”

“I’m fine,” Gon says again, insistently. “I would never do this to anyone else. It was for a Door.”

“Then how did you get that from opening a Door?”

“I found it in the Book.”

Killua stares at him for a long, uncomfortable moment, and it’s hard to forget that this is a Killua who has seen worlds Gon hasn’t, who has been lost for months on his own. He can open Doors now, even if he can’t yet control them. Gon wonders what else he’s seen, what adventures he’s gone on. Where he’ll go next. If he’ll let Gon join him.

Or if he’ll give up Gon as soon as he finds out what Secret the Book holds from Gon.

Killua blows out a frustrated breath. “Fine,” he says. “But promise me you’ll tell me if you want help? I owe you for finding me.”

“You don’t owe me anything, Killua.” If anything, Gon owes him. Owes him for friendship, despite all of Gon’s screw-ups. For not giving up while Gon did nothing but look.

Anger passes across Killua’s face again like a summer breeze, hot and dense. But it’s gone before Gon can say anything else. “Let me tell the sisters I’m leaving. And then… ” Killua stares for a long moment at the sky, relief loosening the tension from his shoulders. “Let’s go home.”

He doesn’t comment on how Gon’s arm turns black nearly to the wrist when the Door opens.

I’ll be honest, I really don’t like the Gon/Fugetsu Killua/Kacho comparison post going around the Killugon side of tumblr. Like, if you just think Gon and Killua are best bros or whatever, fine, I think you’re wrong but if I truly believed that I wouldn’t have any problem with the comparison.

But if we like... actually believe and think Togashi is trying to purposefully foreshadow Killugon, why the fuck would he be placing them in direct comparison to a pair of sisters?

Also like. I feel like ultimately they’re just expressions - if I wanted to, I could probably find panels where Leorio and Mereum both have a similar expression, because Togashi draws emotions in a certain way.

hi im not that last anon but if youd like to explain dark continent id rly appreciate it, ive tried reading it like 3 times already and i can tell its good but im just too dumb to get it jsjsjsjskkw

youre not dumb dont worry togashi just likes confusing us with a lot of text! ill put it under the read more!! :))) im gonna recap everything thats happend since the anime ended so its gonna be long !!! im sorry this is probably gonna be as mad as reading the manga

this is just a recap of what happend before the arc so you can just skip this if you dont need it!

after the anime ends, the zodiacs receive a video of kakins emperor announcing their journey to the dark contient (forbidden) with the help of neteros son, beyond netero pariston has joined forces with him and he and ging have both left the zodiacs, ging also joins beyonds team and forces pariston out of his role of second in command and takes over his position

meanwhile steiner (political figure) posing as v5 (the rulers of the five biggest countries) has comissioned the zodiacs to hunt beyond netero who turns up at their headquarters to hand himself over

cheadle, in need of two new zodiac members recruits leorio who suggests kurapika as rat, mizai goes to get him with the promise of him being able to get the remaining scarlet eyes, as prince tserriednich (fourth son of kakins emperor) posesses them and kurapika accepts

cheadle makes beyond sign a contract that basically states that he is allowed to go on the journey to the dark continent but will be imprisioned the whole time

meanwhile, mizai and kurapika find the mole in the zodiacs, the person that is on beyonds/paristons side, its the monkey zodiac saiyu

meanwhile another hunter exam takes place and kurapika uses his dousing chain to make sure none of the applicants are on paristons side (he failed them if they are) theta and other bodyguards also pass this exam and become hunters

six kakin princes put out bodyguard requests and kurapika gets five of his allies to fill the positions so that no other anti-zodiac hunters can get on board

kurapika chooses the bodyguard requests he beieves is most likely to belong to prince halkenburg ( he wanted the position because halkenburg and tserriednich are on good terms) but ends up with prince woble and promises her mother that he will do his best to protect her (he doesnt seem to be lying and actually prioritizes woble on the boat)

all 14 kakin princes receive a nen beast through an ancient ritual

hisoka and chrollo have a fight in heavens arena that escalates greatly and hisoka dies but revives himself with nen and promises machi to kill every last member of the phantom troupe, then kills kortopi and shalnark. chrollo and the phantom troupe board the boat in belief that hisoka is on it as well but we have yet to see him

this is where the current arc starts!!!!

everyone boards the ship and it heads off to the dark continent, but the zodiacs will have the “normal” people, kakin royality and others reach a fake dark continent, less dangerous and plan to arrest saiyu (traitor zodiac) shortly before arriving there

wobles staff looses most members, as they are revealed to be working for other princes and two/three are killed by an unknown nen user, only bill and kurapika are now working as bodyguards for woble

benjamin sends one of his bodyguards (vincent) to woble, to act as spy and bodyguard to her but hes stopped by bill and kurapika and comitts suicide by swallowing a pill

babimyna is sent by prince benjamin since vincent comitted suicide

kurapika reveals that hes able to steal nen abilities and share them and shares an ability to control small insects with queen oito which they use to spy on the other princes, queen oito sees how prince momoze (hanzo was assigned to her) is killed and screams out, trying to get up and help her but kurapika stops her as babimyna is sent by another prince and isnt supposed to know about oitos ability but oito tells him that childs life is on the line and he should get his priorities in order (or something along those lines)

the third prince, zhang lei, contacts kurapika since kurapika has announced the existence of guardian nen beasts to everyone and is as such now known as nen user and questions him about nen

kurapika begins giving bodyguards from every princes lectures about nen to educate them (no open hostility can be displayed or an arrest will happen, the succession war is going on in secret and the public isnt allowed to know) and the same unknown nen user from earlier kills another person

hanzo kills the murderer of prince momoze in secret and is now officially assigned to guard prince marayam with bisky ( he was with him earlier because momozes and marayams mother told him that marayam had priority and ordered him to leave her daughter)

the phantom troupe beat up members of the mafia while second prince camilla attempts to attack first prince benjamin but is imprisioned

fugetsu begins learning about her nen ability while the unknown nen user kills again

the phantom troupe splits up, shizuku bono and chrollo going together, machi going alone, phinks feitan and nobunaga going together as well as kalluto and illumi, franklin is by himself too i think

phinks feitan and nobunaga join forces with the mafia

theres three strings of mafia aboard, all cooporating ewith a different prince, all of them are led by unofficial childern that the current emperor of kakin or his father had (two of them are uncles to the princes, one is a sister) and theyre scarred so their status as illegitimate children can be recognized

the hei-ly family is lead my morena, the illegitimate child of the current emperor and her nen ability is based on having others awaken their nen through killing, they gain levels and kakin princes give you the most levels, morena activates the level up system in a person by kissing them, multiple murders happn on lower decks and the military starts sweeping them

mizai investigates a murder and later finds illumi and kalluto on board, illumi reveals that the phantom troupe is on board and mizai is afraid they might be here to take revenge on kurapika but doesnt tell him (yet?), then is called away to prince fugetsu who traveled with her nen ability to the lower decks

meanwhile one of prince benjamins bodyguards (rihan) uses his nen ability to kill prince sale sales nen beast and switches places with a different bodyguard belonging to benjamin who then kills prince sale sale. rihan is currently guarding prince tsubeppa, planning on taking out her nen beast too as soon as his ability has recharged (takes two days)

halkenburg attempts to plead with his father to stop the succssion war for a second time (first tiem at the banquet) and first tries to shoot his father and then himself but their nen beasts stop the bullets

meanwhile phinks feitan and nobunaga take it up to kill morena, as requested by the cha-r family mafia branch

kacho has been planning her escape with melodys help and attempts it with fugetsu during melodys music performance that has everyone in trance but it fails and she dies( the conditions of the ceremony that granted the nen beasts also state that noone can leave the ship while the war is going on) , yet her nen beast materializes and takes her form so fugetsu isnt alone and they all think shes survived

during all this theta has been teaching nen to tserriednich whos learning at alarming speed and she attempts to shoot him as she recognizes that hes way to dangerous but tserriednich activates his nen ability (being able to experience ten seconds of the future, acting on what would be the best thing for him and then traveling back those ten seconds) and avoids being shot. his nen beast threatens theta and leaves a (nen?) scar on her face that looks like an infection and may spread if theta betrays tserriednich again

juliano and izunavi, bodyguards to tyson have been reading her bible and juliano has fallen under the influence and if he kills, tysons nen beast will kill him for disobeying tysons bible and hes also been bound to protect prince tyson with his everything (hes gonna die :( )

halkenburgs aura is growing stronger and bursts of it can be felt on the whole (?) ship

meanwhile kurapiks nen lectures are going well and all of his students have awoken to nen with the help of bill

Hello everybody! Today i've decided to share the th tought of mine, who's just as i said a THOUGTH OF MINE. As some of you may remember, some time ago i've talked about Killua and Fugetsu. Today i pick up the subject of the similiarities between the two. So let's get it started!

1. Sibilings.

Like i've said in the other post, killua and alluka's and Kachou and Fugetsu's releationships have many things in common. The fact that one brother/sister decides to protect the other, their own way of interact with each other, the complicated family situations and the Extreme measure of escaping to get freedom. As we all know, while Killua and alluka suceeded in their plan, for Fugetsu and kacho the thing was stopped almost from the beginning. Maybe in the next chapters they will do it too, but we don't know what Togashi sensei will do for their storyline.

2. Their families.

The Zoldycks and the Hui gou rou. Two of the most famous and relevant families in the HxH world. While the 1st ones are the most rinomated assassin's family on the place, the 2nd are the Kakin Empire royal family. Each got their own arc, with the 2nd ones who started again only today. In each the kids have been put in a sort of prespective by their own parents; as Silva and Kikyo always expected from Killua to be a great assassin, as everyone has noticed his incredible talent, Nasubi and/or Seiko expects form Fugetsu and/or Kacho to be the next kakin king. And what they really wanted was to just be normal kids/teens, being happy with the ones they care.

3. Just a child.

This phrase has been said only by two characters while referring to them: Knov and Mizaistom, during the chimera ants arc and the succession war arc respectively. This in a point reflects even what we've said before about themselves, but that's only the iceberg's tip.

4. The needle.

Another thing that connects our mains is a simple needle/needle ball. Always in the CAA, Killua has been put in the desperate situation of a fight against a chimera ant to protect Gon, incapable of using nen. In that moment he heard his brother Illumi tolding him to escape, as only his Force of will helped him to remove the needle Illumi himself has put into him. In the succession war, we discovered that a royal guard has used his ability against Fugetsu, which consist on a needle ball attached to the target. The ability can be stopped permanently only if the target itself removes the needle ball. Similiar to something?

5. Thinking.

As saw many times in the manga, killua has shown a great Quick thinking ability that helped him really much. Also Fugetsu has an analytical mind, as she figured out the way "magic worm" works, to the point she reacher tier 3 without problem.

6. Unaware of...

Getting back to the starting point, we can realize that they don't always know all the details, even tought is just to protect them. After the 1st escape attempt, Kacho was replaced by her nen spirit beast, who's pratically copied everything from the original. Same technical way is for Gotoh, as he was replaced in order that Killua and alluka will never know about his murder. Also Fugetsu doesn't know about Kacho yet.

Well, this is. I just repeat that this is JUST A TOUGHT OF MINE, and we don't know what Togashi sensei will do for the next chapters.
