Rewatching Good Omens season 2 and noticed that in the first episode when Aziraphale is suggesting a name for Gabriel, he glances at Lord Jim on his bookshelf. Whew! This novel is about a ship’s first mate who, when the ships is damaged, abandons his 800 human passengers in an ill-considered and deeply shameful impulse move! He joins the ship’s captain in a lifeboat and spends the rest of his life trying to forgive himself. Foreshadowing much?

I cannot believe I did not see this sooner... another post made me fact-check it... The Metatron's tie is DICE!!!! God plays cards with the universe... the Metatron plays dice. There are sooooo many metaphors that could be used for these distinctions! Neil... you are a treasure!!!!

If you hadn't gotten back your flat, would you still be living in your car?
Yes I would. The Bentley would hate it however.

The other day I read a fanfiction in which Aziraphale had purple eyes, because of his new Supreme Archangel status.
And that's it, that's the post ahah I can't stop thinking about it! I need to see that in season 3, I'm MANIFESTING IT INTO EXISTENCE!
Aziraphale with purple eyes! 🥺

Finished good omens 2 and I have to say, on some level I was afraid that despite the strong hints in season 1 their relationship showing romantic interest might seem abrupt somehow -- but I'm sososo glad those fears were unfounded.
The story did a fantastic job of making their (verbal & physical) confrontation in the final episode seem if anything a long time coming. Even after only 6 episodes of direct buildup everything unfurled in a totally organic way that was touching and gripping and so many other wonderful things.
Also the way David Tennant played Crowley's confession, the way he could barely get the right words out at times and his visible frustration with himself? Perfection. I've rarely related to a confession of love before but in this case I resonated with his desperation and hopefulness.
And how Aziraphale slowly came to the realization that maybe just maybe he and Crowley could be partners, be that to one another?? Also perfection. Even though he went about it from a place born of his own trauma, rather than what he or Crowley actually wanted or needed, his own offer was born of love.
I really really hope there is a season 3.

so i’m a bit of sucker for lots of pining and outburst confessions of love mid - argument, so have a mini good omens fic
“No.”
Crowley’s mouth fell back into a tight line as the word escaped his lips.
Aziraphale remembered the touch of those lips, and wished for just one moment that he didn’t.
“No? Crowley - Crowley, listen to me!”
“We saved the world once before!” Crowley cut him off sharply, and lowered his voice. “I won’t do it again. We can’t keep carrying the fate of the human race on our backs - someday, the dam will break.” Crowley turned on his heel and strode about the room, eyes to the sky, trying not to make it clear he was avoiding the stare of the two blue eyes that made him give in every damn time. “And when it does, I hope to be on Alpha Centauri, sipping whisky and enjoying the view.”
A lower growl now, voice almost hidden beneath the way he bit down words he would have choked on.
“You had your chance to come with me.”
Aziraphale pushed the thoughts that threatened to consume him to the back of his mind.
“So, my answer,” Crowley said with a thin layer of self-assurance spreading over him like old jelly, “is no. Go save the world yourself, archangel.”
He turned towards the door, and tried not to cry. And tried not to stop.
Aziraphale uttered his name, and he failed.
It was a small, desperate sigh of a word that spread through Crowley too quickly, permeated his lungs and his every thought.
Aziraphale Aziraphale Aziraphale, cried every inch of him, parts that he had kept hidden back slowly infecting the parts he had cultivated and farmed to be almost good enough for the world to see.
“I never said I didn’t want to.”
Crowley didn’t let a word escape- it only took one open of his mouth for the whole sea of words that could never be said to boil over.
If he had turned to look at Aziraphale, he would have seen a trembling mess of an angel biting back gasping sobs at every moment.
“I wanted it to be good. I wanted it to be perfect,”
began an angel through tears he could no longer hide.
“I wanted to tell you at the ball. I wanted a fairytale ending. I wanted - I wanted you! You, even when you’re drunk and talking nonsense. You, in the early mornings with your hair all mussed. You, always, all the time. Until the end. Forever.”
He took a step forward. Crowley didn’t move.
“But it wasn’t right, Crowley. I would have given anything to - to ‘go off’ with you. Anything. But to have you, to keep you, I needed it to be perfect.”
Another tentative step.
“I - I love you. I love you I love you I love you. For six thousand years I have loved you. On this spinning, tilting little planet, we all need to find something to hold onto or we’ll just fall off. Even angels need something to grasp.”
A final step.
“I have you.”
“Angel-“ Crowley began with a turn of his head, and then the whole world ended and began again in splendid colors and bursting nebulae and newborn stars pulling air into their lungs for the first wail of a life.
A real kiss, a breaking of the dam, here-I-am-let-everything-I-am-flow-into-you-let-everything-you-are-flow-into-me.
Aziraphale knew so many things, but Crowley opened his mouth and then he knew nothing.
Crowley held on tight, so tight, and knew what the angel said was true, if he let go he’d be sailing off into a black eternity forever.
They broke apart and kissed again, and again and again and again, trying and failing to make up for thousands of years spent without their lips touching, without the real knowing of the other.
And then Aziraphale caught his breath, and whispered,
“Now let’s go save the world again.”

I see a lot of posts gleefully repeating Rob Wilkins’ comment that Aziraphale’s expression means “do that again” but leaving out the second part of his comment which was “…and trying to understand what is happening”
So, hello - it’s great but also terrible that he wants Crowley to do it again because he has been TEMPTED. For all their playful banter about temptation over the years, it’s serious business to him in this moment. An attack on his angelhood. And this is what, in his little angel view of the multiverse, he finally decides what must be happening (and why he says “I forgive you.”)
Demons tempt. Angels forgive.

This is not a cute “oops” miscommunication moment. This is the beginning of a war, in Aziraphale’s view. And if he’s going to treat Crowley as a combatant then Crowley will answer.
(I for one am looking forward to a season’s worth of them being on opposite sides. Maybe 5/6ths of a seasons worth.)

Listen, I am all for the idea that a good story can show a romance without a kiss, but believe me when I say it does not work with queer couples. It works for queer people and shippers, sure, we see the romance. We saw Crowley and Aziraphale were in love already in the first season. But watching Good Omens 2 with my family that are all straight non-shippers? They call it a beautiful friendship. They aren't particularly homophobic (for Polish people ...) but it just doesn't register. We are two episodes from the finale (that only I saw) and I am dying for them to realize that they didn't see the whole picture.
Kisses for queer couples in media are important because straight people will deny the existence of a romance until they are proven wrong in the most indisputable way - and they make you feel like you look too much into things. A kiss removes all deniability. A kiss will get the show canceled in conservative countries. There is a place for stories that make queer people feel seen covertly, and they are important too, but sometimes, we really need that kiss.

Crowley, do you remember your fall? (Kind of a personal question, feel free to ignore)
I remember some of it. What I was allowed to remember. Won't share the nasty details.
