Like there are (very very very) few things I prefer on iOS but for writing stuff, I use my pixel 3a 99% more often. Androids are generally just a lot more customizable anyway

in case anyone ever wanted to know how frustrating it is to set up biometrics on a google pixel 7. this was for my thumb and i was doing it exactly as it said. my 3a had the back of the screen finger scanner that worked every single time without fail and for my 7?? i can't even set it up let alone reliably use it

hey so today is 9 Sept 22 and there is a big trade-in deal for the Google Pixel 6a right now. Instead of giving you 50$ for an old trade-in, they are giving fucking 300$ for the trade-in.

I just pulled the trigger to trade in my old Pixel 3a to get a new Pixel 6a.

The catch: You gotta be able to pay the full 500$ up front, which fucking suuuuuucks, but they will send you the Pixel 6a and a trade-in box to ship them the trade, and they'll refund the difference as soon as they process it. I looked into it and apparently they do the refund pretty fast, less than 3 weeks usually, sometimes much faster than that.

ALSO: This includes phones with cracked screens! You'll get like 40-60$ less, but that's still a huge discount.

The phones part of the trade in deal:

Google Pixel 3a

Google Pixel 4, 4XL, 4a (incl the 5G version)

Apple iPhone 7, 7 Plus

I bought a new phone. Again.

I bought one a few months back when there was a good sale and was absolutely disappointed. So, fool that I am, I bought the exact same phone again because there was an even better sale.

My main irritation was the battery but my brother in law has the same phone with no complaints so I'm hoping mine was a fluke even though Google refused to take the least bit of responsibility for it. I'll just put off sending my old one in for the trade until I'm sure. Like last time. Mainly I just pulled the trigger because of the rumored $200 price point hike for the Pixel 8 which would put the base phone at $800 which I'm not willing to spend on a phone. It may end up not being that but at the end of the day I'm getting the Pixel 7 for $450 or $130 if they honor the estimated trade in value. And honestly one is a good price for a phone and the other is an amazing price.

I wish literally anyone was giving the Pixels a run for their money vis a vis the "pure" Android experience. Because I was annoyed enough with my experience with the Pixel 7 that I was considering switching away from the Pixel line even though I've owned a 1, 2, 3a, and 6. And don't say Samsung their phones are so full of branded bloatware it's a joke to call them pure Android

I've been purchasing Google phones since they started with the Nexus series and their collaborations with different manufacturers. I then switched to Pixel. Had the 2, 3a then 5a. Recently I had the BSOD issue with the 5a, I reached out to Google, 5 weeks after my 1 year warranty ended. They said they would repair it. Today I got a diagnosis alert and they are saying it's a screen issue and power issue. It's $349 for a refurbished device.

So right now I am using a moto g stylus 5G (2022) and am pretty happy. The camera isn't that great compared to the pixel, but overall it seems to be a solid device for $299.

After this I am done with the pixel line. I had the same issue with my 3a but it at least lasted 26 months. Then purchased the 5a and at 13.5 months it's dead.

Anyways.
