Same places on a Friday night

Holding glances but we're tongue tied

I'm with my friends, and it's hard to smile

It's crazy how that feels, I haven't slept in a while

I never saw it coming

I thought we had it all

I feel you in those moments

Those nights, held in your arms

Or where Tony is a senior in high school and Peter just a sophomore. After the splitting of their secret relationship, Peter tries to avoid him at any cost. Mostly because he can’t take the pain that is seeing Tony flirting and kissing other women, like he was used to before they got together.

But it hurts more because Peter knows Tony is doing it on purpose to get him away. It’s a torturous feeling because Peter knows they broke up as a result of Tony’s constant fear of prejudice. Even when they were together, he was scared of being discovered all the time. The weight of being a Stark made him deny his true identity. Tony was afraid of his father, a father that was constantly disappointed on him.

So it was normal to see Tony drunk at every party. But the one Peter attends, Tony gets even drunker. He just drinks and drinks in a failed try to erase the enormous hurt that he’s feeling in his chest. He can feel Peter’s stares, but he ignores it. He needs to ignore it for his own sake.

Peter can hear his friends talking lively, Ned and MJ a little tipsy, but he can’t focus in their conversation. He just keeps staring at Tony, seeing him laughing and drinking with his new girlfriend- or whatever the new girl is. So he leaves, at some point of the night. His friends are already too drunk to realize Peter’s red eyes, but that’s okay for him, he doesn’t want to ruin the party with his pathetic moping.

He’s falling asleep in his bed when Peter hears something falling besides him. It’s Tony entering through the window, a common thing he used to do. “Tony? What the hell are you doing?”

“I’m coming to your bedroom.” Tony’s voice is gritty from the vodka and the cigarettes.

“I know that, you dumbass, but it’s three a.m., May can hear you.”

“Oh right right, imma be quiet then.” Tony says trying to make it as a whisper, a silly grin on his face.

Peter looks at him in a mix of frustration and tenderness. “What are you doing, Tony? Seriously.”

Tony’s face softens, his full vulnerability finally showing. “I don’t know, okay? When I looked back you weren’t at the party anymore.”

“Yeah, that’s because I left. And you better leave my room, too.”

There’s a dead silence between them. Long enough to feel the pain intoxicating the air. It’s sufocatting.

“I miss you, Peter.”

And Peter wants to hate him. He really does. Because he’s been an ass, because he broke his heart wide open. He wants to hate Tony because of his cowardice. He wants to yell and tell him to go away forever.

But Peter can’t, even if he wishes he could. He can’t hate the love of his life. So instead of tearing everything apart, instead of kicking him out of his bedroom and out of his life like he should do, Peter accepts him into his arms when Tony gets closer.

“I miss you too.”
