Extremely traditional, he has the entire date planned out has a whole list of things to do and places to eat, and things to see.( more often than not already has a reservation planned)

No matter if it's your first second third or 600th the date he'll always feel nervous to take you out somewhere.

You never expected Kabu to be so romantic, he just wants to make sure you're having a good time.

Kabu's idea of a date is just as traditional a fancy dinner or somewhere quiet and go home.

The gym leader does admit that it has been sometime since he's taken someone out, and he wouldn't be surprised if dating has changed in recent years, so he would be open to anything if you decide to change it. But his first instincts will always be take you out to dinner.

Now he doesn't mind taking you places to have fun it will just take him a while to let loose a little bit. He'd much rather take it slow.

During the actual date, Kabu won't take his eyes off you; you have his full attention.

Kabu prefers taking it slow he is not interested in flings when he is with someone he is in for the long haul. He wishes for a partner to stay by his side.

Kabu says is not a jealous man but you can't help but notice his eyes seemed to Twitch when someone gets a little buddy with you.

Raihan

Raihan thrives off dates while a dinner is considered for him, it isn't his go-to.

Like the extroverted battery he is he will drag you to any place he thinks is fun and wants to bring you to. Every attraction in Galar are you two have gone to at least twice. And precious thumb drives are filled with pictures and videos of every date. The ones he posts on his social media are not even 1% of the ones he has.

Raihan is less of a list and plan guy and more of a follow your heart.

If going out isn't really your thing or going anywhere where there's a lot of people he'll try to meet in the middle because a date is successful when two people are having fun.

As much as I do see Raihan being the more extroverted going out and doing things kind of boyfriend I do think he is rather flexible with Partners who don't really want to go out.

Raihan is extremely perceptive of other people, and we'll take note of your likes and dislikes, to be completely honest he is the happiest when you're happy.

Raihan is a self-proclaimed Master at dating spots; like I said, he is highly perceptive of the people he is dating. He'll pick a place that he knows you'll like, and he'll pick up on your habits pretty quickly. He'll know when you are or not having fun.

Raihan is a very doting boyfriend anyone would be lucky to be with him.

I also see him as quite the gift-giver as well, he puts a lot of thought into every gift he gives you, ( sometimes he has Dragon brain and gives you a Shiny rock or nick nack he randomly saw and made him think of you)

Piers

Eh, to be completely honest Piers doesn't care one way or the other; if going on dates means a lot to you, then sure, he'll do it to make you happy. But Piers can spend time with you in any way he wants to without any of that fancy stuff.

A guy like him, oblivious and doesn't know what romance even is, would be very in trouble on a first date, lucky for him, his sister has his back whether he wants help or not. What kind of sister would she be if she let her brother crash and burn? And Raihan can supply good spots in Galar that have good reviews and are good dating spots

Piers classifies anything as a date, even if it's just you, too, having a lazy Sunday on the couch.

Peirs ideal date if you were to ask him he, would probably say being at home with his partner eating pizza and watching The Great Galar Bake Off.

But once in a blue moon, Piers will knock you out of the park with something you never expect from him. Taking you outside of the town and watching the Stars or Have you listen to a short song he wrote about you. You have no idea where is this comes from because usually, your Piers has no romantic bone in his body.

If you would like to take him out somewhere, sure, he'll bite. He doesn't mind either way.

It had started as a normal conversation. You wanted Raihan to pause his training to battle Leon again for one day. Your birthday. You explained to him that you wanted to spend the day with him and would appreciate his full focus. Of course it had turned into a spat. You knew it was important to him to beat Leon, but he had been obsessing lately and you could both use a break from it.

Covering your face, you move to lean against a wall, closing yours eyes to cry softly, letting it all out. You were so upset that he couldn't see from your side on this. You didn't think you were asking for too much, but after that you were wondering if you had been the one in the wrong. "No passion? ... Fuck... " You were heartbroken, your sobs sounding rather pathetic to anyone who could hear them, though you were left alone to your thoughts. It was hours before you had been ready to return, having gotten it out of your system and being resigned to being hurt, understanding that you would not have your way this time. You didn't expect to see Raihan stand up in a hurry with a bundle of flowers. He had a sad, desperate sort of look on his face.

"I fucked up." He says simply, moving toward you. You were inclined to tell him to leave you alone but something about that expression he had made you hesitate.

"I know I did and I'm sorry... I just got so caught up in my own head." He begins to reach his free hand toward you, wanting to touch your arm. It had been hours and yet your eyes still stung from having dried out after you'd cried all you could cry.

You started to pull away, but relented and allowed him to hold onto your arm. "We're going to take a break for the whole week. You're right.. we're burning ourselves out like this and... I think the fact I snapped at you. YOU. I know that I'm at my limit right now... can you forgive me, Y/N? I'm going to make it up to you." Letting out a soft sigh, the tension in your chest released almost immediately. "You really hurt me today, Raihan. But that doesn't mean I can't forgive you." You take his hand in yours, squeezing slightly. "I support you and I always will."

He smiles at that, clearly having been afraid that you weren't going to accept that he was going to try.

"I know you just want me to be healthy and happy. I want to get there with you." He pulls you in for a tight hug and you reach around him, gripping at his jacket. Relationships were tough, but you wouldn't want to battle your way through life with anyone else.

Very self indulgent Raihan headcanons but

I like to think that Raihan lives inside Hammerlocke castle, one of the towers being converted into a living area for him. Though, he does want to settle down into a quaint house eventually, he's happy with his position right now.

There's a library in the castle that he frequents, just to study when he's bored or can't sleep (and knowing that if he used his phone he'll just not be able to sleep more). He'll make himself something warm to drink and play some music (probably some piano) which echos against the stone walls of the library.

The Pokémon League’s getting him a bodyguard? What? When did this happen?

Raihan was confused. He was one of the strongest trainers in Galar, he was known to train difficult dragon types, he was the eighth and final gym leader, and he was (probably) the tallest person in the region. Why did he need a bodyguard?

When it was explained by the league that, when he took a recent vacation to Kalos, it was not normal for him to be threatened by a terrorist organization dressed in ugly red suits, he still didn’t even get it.

He was fine. His Flygon handled them so easily he almost forgot the threat on his life even happened. He couldn’t be Leon’s greatest rival if he couldn’t handle a few weak Team Flare grunts, now could he?

The League was still concerned for Raihan’s safety, however.

He tried to find some loophole or some excuse to get out of the situation, but when one of the League’s attorneys showed him the Protection and Safety clause in his gym leader contract, he knew he would have to just suck it up.

He just didn’t want to be babied by some buff, overly-professional. middle-aged man who would be sticking to his side at all hours of the day (at least that’s how he imagined the bodyguard to be).

So, when Raihan was introduced to you, who was around his age and had a smile sweeter than a Swirlix, he couldn’t be bothered to contain his relief. Did he mention that you were very good-looking? Raihan wanted to make sure that was clear.

Then some random dude started lecturing him about your duties, where you’re from, and what he should expect from you.

Yes, okay, he’ll try to be safer. Yes, he’ll inform you if he’s ever alone and in trouble. Hmm hm.

Yep. He’ll listen to the advice you give him…yada yada something about you prioritizing his own safety over your own yada yada...

Okay, Pokémon League Official Whatsyourname, he’s got it. Raihan’s definitely been listening to the whole spiel. Now can he go and spend some time with his abnormally attractive bodyguard? Cool, thanks.

When you’re both alone, you introduce yourself and your partner Pokémon: Houndoom. By your accent, Raihan immediately knows you’re not a Galarian native (not that he minds this, however, your accent is adorable).

And he’s right! You say you’re from northern Johto, specifically Ecruteak City. Turns out, you used to be a gym trainer there. You got the job because you grew up with the gym leader there, but you left pretty quickly because one, you were far too strong to be a gym trainer, and two, you didn’t really fit the ghost-trainer vibe.

Raihan tries his best to get to know you beyond just basic-level friendship. He wants to know everything about you that’s not already online–which is practically everything. He’s got to set you up with an Instaryugram account asap.

When he asks, you tell him about your other Pokémon. You’ve been traveling a lot, so you have a wider range than most trainers. You have a Mismagius from your gym trainer days, a Sigilyph from a Unovan vacation, a Clawitzer from when you lived in Kalos, and a Mareep your old friend caught you (turns out Mareep is Houndoom’s best friend). Houndoom is your ace, though, and is the only one trained to do bodyguard work alongside you.

Raihan loves to ask you questions, but he loves to compliment you more. You always laugh, grin, and compliment him back.

To be honest, it’s hard to pay attention to what you’re saying sometimes because all Raihan wants to do is stare at your face, your muscles, and your smile. Arceus, you’re so kind.

But then he snaps out of it when a growl hisses at him. The perpetrator? Your Houndoom.

It has its very sharp teeth bared at him, sparks of heat flickering in its gums. Its tail is wrapped around your leg, standing alert next to you.

Raihan quickly learns that your Pokémon is a damn menace.

While you and Raihan go about his day as he likes, treating each other more so as friends on a day out rather than bodyguard and client, your Houndoom is an unwavering presence of intimidation. It takes its job as a bodyguard very seriously.

A single look from Houndoom sends any bad people the other way, and Raihan hasn’t been approached by any obsessive or crazy fans since you and Houndoom were assigned to him. If you tell your Pokémon to be on guard, Houndoom doesn’t give two Furrets who steps up the dragon trainer, they’re not getting within five feet of Raihan without its fangs in their arm. Not even Leon or Chairman Rose.

Houndoom doesn't descriminate. Everybody's getting bitten.

However, when you and Houndoom are guarding idly, innocent fans of both his gym and his own Pokémon are allowed to come up to him. When that happens, Houndoom is as docile as a Lillipup and even receives a few scritches from braver fans. Its tail always wags aggressively when that happens.

But at this point, Raihan believes your Pokémon has a vendetta against him.

You swear that Houndoom is as cuddly as a Komala at home, but Raihan refuses to believe you. He's tried to pet your Pokémon one time and nearly got four of his fingers taken off. You said it was because he didn’t ask for consent first, but he’s not buying it. He thinks it's personal.

When he tells this to Leon, the champion just comments on how the dark type Pokémon probably notices how much Raihan is smitten by you and is acting extra protective.

Raihan nervously chuckles at that, rubbing the back of his neck.

“It’s not that obvious, is it?”

“I bet you wish it wasn’t, but it is.”

Raihan slowly notices that he doesn’t flirt with you as much now as he did when he first met you. He had subconsciously stopped doing it when his brain realized his feelings for you were more than just physical attraction. 

He was so into you it hurt.

You’re always so nice to him, offering to take photos of him for his social media feed. You have a knack for getting the best angles and telling him the best poses. His smiles in those photos are more genuine too, but he doesn’t want to admit to you that they’re just because you’re the one holding the phone.

He wants to tell you his feelings so badly, but he knows that if the Pokémon League catches wind of them that you’d be reassigned to someone else.

So he’ll wait. He’s trained baby dragons into full-blown monsters, he’s got the patience to wait it out.

In the meantime, he’ll just soak in your presence every day and enjoy it while you’re with him.

Raihan is around you so much that sometimes he forgets you’re not actually his partner yet. You’re his bodyguard, and you have bodyguard duties.

This was one of those moments.

You randomly take hold of him by the arm like a couple would before smiling up at him. He grins back at you with that signature smirk of his. He has no idea why you’re doing this, but he’s not going to complain when you’re holding onto him so tightly.

With a tug, you subtly take the lead and start to move Raihan down a different road in Hammerlocke than you had both planned to today. Houndoom walks on his other side, staying in line with every step he takes.

When you speak, your serious tone doesn’t match the carefree and blissful look on your face.

“There’s four people that have been watching us periodically on our walk since we left the gym. Your safety at the stadium’s been compromised, I’m taking us to the Vault.”

Oh. So that’s why you’re doing this.

He had no idea you had been paying attention to your surroundings that much. But, he really shouldn’t have been surprised, you were hired as his personal guard by the league for a reason.

Once you reach the doors and Raihan unlocks them, he takes a glance over his shoulder. He sees four ladies with red outfits, funky glasses, and colorful hair approaching the Vault. It’s Team Flare again.

“Get in the Vault and lock the door, I’ll handle this.”

Wait, what? You’re going out there by yourself?

“Hey, wait a sec–”

Houndoom’s tail wraps around his ankle tightly as you shove him in the chest, simultaneously snatching the Vault’s key from his hands as he stumbles backwards.

Raihan can’t even protest before the door is shut on him, followed by the turning of a very heavy lock.

These Vault doors were ancient, but very well made. There was no way he was getting out of here unless he broke it down at full force.

So that’s what he plans to do.

He pulls out Duraludon, commanding it to help him break out of here so he can go and help you.

After a few breaking swipes and flash cannons, the door doesn’t even have a dent in it. He feels powerless.

But then the sound of the locks turning catches his attention before the door opens.

It had only been mere minutes, but you come into the Vault without any urgency and the sunlight cascading behind you.

There’s blood dripping down from your knuckles to your fingers. Your hair looks a little disheveled and there’s a thin layer of sweat on your forehead. But, other than that, you seem unscathed.

Raihan doesn’t think you’ve ever looked so radiant before.

Houndoom waltzes in after you with longer horns and vicious bone armor curling around its body. Mega Evolution made your Pokémon partner scarier than ever.

Looking over Raihan, you begin to laugh while shaking out your aching hands.

“Sorry about shoving you! I had to act without thinking and–”

Raihan grips the front of your shirt and places his lips over yours.

Yeah, screw patience. He’s waited long enough.

You can't help but laugh at this.

Sometimes he stops talking when you cuddle him, so you wonder if he has ever pretended to be sleep-talking to get you to cuddle him, but whenever you ask he denies it.

You have talked about this with Marnie.

She always suggests that you hit him in the head with a pillow when he starts with his antics.

Leon also has weird dreams, so he'll often say dumb things like how his mom is a mudsdale or something.

When you tell him all the weird stuff he says the next morning, he just ends up telling you the dream he had.

This man has a wild imagination.

He also snores, so the combination of his snores and his sleeptalking drive you crazy.

More often than you think you end up sleeping on the couch because of this.

"Did I talk too loud last night?"

He asks when he finds you sleeping in the living room.

Opposite from Piers, he won't shut up.

No matter what you do to make him stop talking, he just doesn't.

He just rambles on and on about how his day went.

You love to mess with him and tell him random things about how his day was the day before, and when he asks how you know you just say you're psychic.

Like Leon, he's a pain in the ass when he's asleep.

Sometimes he just yells when he sleeps and it is exhausting.

Sometimes you just sleep while covering his mouth.

Often you go as far as waking him up and telling him to shut up.

He just laughs it off and says that he'll try.

When Raihan is fast asleep, he goes on this huge rants about how in love he is.

When you comment on it he just gets flustered but tries to hide it.

"I said that?"

Raihan x reader - Surprise! (SFW)

You had woken up expecting some attention and were surprised to see he wasn't even in bed with you. Had he really gone without even saying goodbye on your birthday? You make a soft, sad noise and flop back against your pillow to sulk for a moment. You usually were the one to set up events and get togethers and had hoped he would do a little something for you... of course he was busy. You were trying to reason with yourself to avoid feeling upset all day, but it was hard when you were feeling very low about the situation.

Getting up, you spotted the note he had left ontop of your phone and picked it up to look.

'Sorry I had to leave before you woke up. I'll see you at the gym! Love, your dragon~ ❤️'

He really had forgotten. Your heart sunk, but you pulled yourself together enough to get ready for the day. Getting dressed in something cute, at least you could feel good for yourself. Maybe seeing you dressed up would jog his memory.

You grab yourself a protein bar and a bottle of water before heading out, walking toward the gym. It was a nice day out, at least. You could appreciate that little gift, though you couldn't help the tears welling in your eyes as you thought Raihan didn't care enough to put your birthday in his phone or something.

Too caught up in your low feelings, you didn't pay much attention to your surroundings on the way and even when you got in. You didn't notice the 'closed for event' sign outside. The clerk who manned the counter for challengers smiles and greets you happily. "It's nice to see you today, Y/N! Come right in!" They weren't in their uniform, but that didn't really register to you either.

As you walked out to the field, expecting him to be training with his pokemon, you were wiping at your teary eyes. You still hadn't noticed that the arena was decorated in your favorite colors.-

"Happy birthday, y/n!!"

You gasp, startled by the voices cheering and calling out to you. Your head rips up to see Raihan coming up to wrap you in his arms. Your friends from all over Galar were there to see you and celebrate.

"Are you okay, babe?" He asks curiously, concern in his voice. He could see that your eyes were all wet. "You didn't think I forgot, did you?!" He smiles and pets his hand along your back in a comforting way. You huff a little and shake your head, unable to help the laugh that escapes your lips. Of course he hadn't forgotten. He just liked to get you all worked up!

"Hey! Don't hog them, Raihan!" Leon shouts as he comes running up to shove Rai playfully so he could hug you too. "Come on! We have presents and cake!" He pulls back and hooks his arm in yours to drag you toward everyone else, Raihan following behind and chuckling. He was happy to see how much everyone loved you and wanted to celebrate with you.

"Hey! Ill hog them all I want! They're mine!" He shouts after you two, half playful. You blushed at that. Today was going to be a very good day. You couldn't believe you had really thought he would forget your birthday.

I wanna request a Leon and raihan reaction to s/o having a protective incineroar? Like, incineroar would glare at them if they got to close with his trainer. But would soon be a friend of theirs after he realized they meant no harm to his trainer.

Leon:

Leon loves your Incineroar! He thinks the large, buff cat is wonderful! But Incineroar sure doesn't like him, especially when he starts to date you. It stares at him whenever he gets too close to you for its liking, and its fur stands up whenever he touches you for too long, or when he kisses you

The both of you find it endearing when Incineroar climbs into your lap like its still a Litten in order to stop Leon from loving on you, but it is a little intimidating to Leon. So, in order to endear himself to your protective Pokémon, he starts bring around treats and toys

It's a very funny sight, watching Leon wrestle your Pokémon, toss around toys for it to bat at, to carefully offer treats over with the hopes of not losing a finger to Incineroar's maw, but it works! Incineroar slowly warms up to Leon, and stops hissing at him whenever he hugs you too long. Instead, it flops across both your laps for a nap during movie night, keeping you both comfortable and pinned to the couch. Oh well, you weren't planning on moving much anyway.

Raihan:

Raihan is taller than your Incineroar, but that doesn't make the Pokémon any less intimidating when it glares at him and bears its fangs as he flirts with you. You may be giggling, but Incineroar is already planning murder, and Raihan can see that all too well. The way its claws come out when he leans on you or kisses you shows it. Incineroar also butts its way into your selfies with Raihan, getting in between you two and making Raihan pull a stupid face out of surprise

Raihan, frustrated that your Pokémon doesn't like him, tries to endear himself to the cat. He brings treats, then stops when Incineroar nearly nips off his fingers eating them from his hand. He brings toys, and finds that its like armwrestling the bodybuilder feline, so that is also quick lived. The thing that he finds works best is when he relaxes on the couch or in bed with you and coaxes Incineroar into lying with you both

Incineroar always purrs as Raihan brushes through its fur. He's gotten himself a proper glove for it, to help with shedding fur, and constantly strokes Incineroar with it. It gets to the point where Incineroar will bring the glove to him when it wants to be groomed by the gym leader. Raihan is plenty proud of himself, and takes a million photos to send to you, he's dorky smirk and Incineroar's happy face as he cradles a large ball of fur in his gloved hand.
