SO YOU WANT TO GET HIRED IS NOW LIVE ON ITCHIO! :D
This thirty-page guide is specifically written to help you navigate the world of working-class jobs. In it, I break down what to put in your resume (even if you have no experience at all!), how to dress for the interview, how to play the very confusing and nonsensical world of the working-class interview, and what happens after you drag yourself out of the crucible of the interview on your hands and knees.
It's helpful! It's for those of us who want to know how to get hired for something as menial as a food runner! It's not that long, so you don't need to carve out several hours to in-depth research! It's got jokes — and Brian David Gilbert references!
Please reblog to help reach as many people as possible, because sometimes we all need a little help adulting, and I'm here to share what I know with you, no judgment.
(If you want to make sure I am not forced to be victim to website fees, you can always just send me $3 on Ca$h@pp/V3nm0 (deadtower) or P@yp@l (paypal.me/deadtower) and email me at [email protected] with your username/when you sent the money, and I can send you the PDF that way! Also, if you can't afford it, no worries! Just shoot me an email and I'll send it to you discounted to as low as $1, or for free, depending on your financial situation. I want everyone to have access to the resources they deserve. <3)

An Etymological Dictionary of Matoric, Third Edition - Volume I COMPLETE (A-G)
Tumblr media
On the world of Spherus Magna, many millennia have come and gone since the time known as BIONICLE. And in that time, the scholars of Spherus Magna have not been idle...
Under the auspices of the Annoxtus Academy of Science, a team of researchers, including linguists, historians, archaeologists, and agoripologists, has worked tirelessly to record, preserve, and analyze the ancient languages and linguistic varieties of the Mata System.
The Institute for Matoran Studies is proud to present the newest result of those labors: The full and complete Volume I of An Etymological Dictionary of Matoric, Third Edition, now covering the letters A through G, along with “Supplemental Entries” for H-Z.
An Etymological Dictionary of Matoric, Third Edition - Volume I: A-G [with Supplemental Entries H-Z] (PDF)
The previously published version of Volume I covered the letters A and B only, amounting to about 90 entries, with 36 root-word entries. In contrast, the Complete Volume I is substantially expanded, containing about 274 entries for the letters A-G, along with an additional ~407 Supplemental Entries, and ~169 root-word entries.
The Supplemental Entries contain words that are referenced in the etymologies of the primary entries for A-G, allowing the reader to cross-reference almost any word referenced in the dictionary. The Supplemental Entries also contain many words not referenced in the primary entries, but whose etymologies have been finalized by the IMS research group, providing a snapshot of the development of future dictionary volumes. This includes nearly all words and grammatical markers listed or referenced in other educational materials, making the Complete Volume I the most comprehensive reference document for the lexicon of the Matoran Language.
[Link to Previous Version (Volume I: A-B)]
======
The Matoran Language (Matoric) is a constructed language (“conlang”) set within the universe and lore of BIONICLE (a LEGO property). It is the language of the biomechanical species called Matoran, and it is also used as a lingua franca amongst many of the biomechanical inhabitants of the artificially-constructed Matoran Universe.
If you would like to learn more about Matoric, further documentation can be found in this post: The Matoran Language [2021].
The Matoran Language Resources page of this blog also contains a wealth of additional content and archival material.

hello! i hope it's alright to ask you this but i was wondering if you have any recommendations for books to read or media in general about the history of judaism and jewish communities in egypt, particularly in ottoman and modern egypt?
have a nice day!
it's fine to ask me this! Unfortunately I have to preface this with a disclaimer that a lot of books on Egyptian Jewish history have a Zionist bias. There are antizionist Egyptian Jews, and at the very least ones who have enough national pride that AFAIK they do not publicly hold Zionist beliefs, like those who spoke in the documentary the Jews of Egypt (avaliable on YouTube for free with English subtitles). Others have an anti Egyptian bias- there is a geopolitical tension with Egypt from Antiquity that unfortunately some Jewish people have carried through history even when it was completely irrelevant, so in trying to research interactions between "ancient" Egyptian Jews and Native Egyptians (from the Ptolemaic era into the proto-Coptic and fully Coptic eras) I've unfortunately come across stuff that for me, as an Egyptian, reads like anti miscegenationist ideology, and it is difficult to tell whether this is a view of history being pushed on the past or not. The phrase "Erev Rav" (meaning mixed multitude), which in part refers to Egyptians who left Egypt with Moses and converted to Judaism, is even used as an insult by some.
Since I mentioned that documentary, I'll start by going over more modern sources. Mapping Jewish San Francisco has a playlist of videos of interviews with Egyptian Jews, including both Karaites and Rabbinic Jews iirc (I reblogged some of these awhile ago in my "actually Egyptian tag" tag). This book, the Dispersion of Egyptian Jewry, is avaliable for free online, it promises to be a more indepth look at Egyptian Jews in the lead up to modern explusion. I have only read a few sections of it, so I cannot give a full judgment on it. There's this video I watched about preserving Karaite historical sites in Egypt that I remember being interesting. "On the Mediterranian and the Nile edited by Harvey E. Goldman and Matthis Lehmann" is a collection of memiors iirc, as is "the Man in the Sharkskin Suit" (which I've started but not completed), both moreso from a Rabbinic perspective. Karaites also have a few websites discussing themselves in their terms, such as this one.
For the pre-modern but post-Islamic era, the Cairo Geniza is a great resource but in my opinion as a hobby researcher, hard to navigate. It is a large cache of documents from a Cairo synagogue mostly from around the Fatimid era. A significant portion of it is digitized and they occasionally crowd source translation help on their Twitter, and a lot of books and papers use it as a primary source. "The Jews in Medieval Egypt, edited by: Miriam Frenkel" is one in my to read pile. "Benjamin H. Hary - Multiglossia in Judeio-Arabic. With an Edition, Translation, and Grammatical Study of the Cairene Purim Scroll" is a paper I've read discussing the Jewish record of the events commemorated by the Cairo Purim, I got it off either Anna's Archive or libgen. "Mamluks of Jewish Origin in the Mamluk Sultanate by Koby Yosef" is a paper in my to read pile. "Jewish pietism of the Sufi type A particular trend of mysticisme in Medieval Egypt by Mireille Loubet" and "Paul B Fenton- Judaism and Sufism" both discuss the medieval Egyptian Jewish pietist movement.
For "ancient" Egyptian Jews, I find the first chapter of "The Story of the Jews: Finding the Words 1000 BC-1492 AD” by Simon Schama, which covers Elephantine, very interesting (it also flies in the face of claims that Jews did not marry Native Egyptians, though it is from centuries before the era researchers often cover). If you'd like to read don't click this link to a Google doc, that would be VERY naughty. There's very little on the Therapeutae, but for the paper theorizing they may have been influenced by Buddhism (possibly making them an example of Judeo-Buddhist syncretism) look here (their Wikipedia page also has some sources that could be interesting but are not specifically about them). "Taylor, Joan E. - Jewish women philosophers of first-century Alexandria: Philo’s Therapeutae reconsidered" is also a to read.
I haven't found much on the temple of Onias/Tell el Yahudia/Leontopolis in depth, but I have the paper "Meron M. Piotrkowski - Priests in Exile: The History of the Temple of Onias and Its Community in the Hellenistic Period" in my to be read pile (which I got off Anna's Archive). I also have some supplemental info from a lecture I attended that I'm willing to privately share.
I also have a document compiling links about the Exodus of Jews from Egypt in the modern era, but I'm cautious about sharing it now because I made it in high school and I've realized it needs better fact checking, because it had some misinfo in it from Zionist publications (specifically about the names of Nazis who fled to Egypt- that did happen, but a bunch of names I saw reported had no evidence of that being the case, and one name was the name of a murdered resistance fighter???)

Because everyone is reacting to Dark being short, here's something that I did on February 28th.
Hollow Heads and their Posture plus Character Analogy #studies
I never posted it here, but I did this intense research thingy where I became obsessed with properly getting the Hollow Head's posture.
This was my last project before I moved from Adobe Photoshop CS6 to Krita. I completely forgot about it, to be honest.
Tumblr media
From left to right: Dark, Chosen, Second, victim, and H I added my tall boy H (Hangman) in there too, 'cause why not.
So what were my conclusions?
Second is the tallest one. His legs are longer and he's more slouched than the rest of them. He notably has a wide leg stance, but his shoulders are the most relaxed. Having a weak stance like this implies that he's mostly in a peaceful or at least safest environment compared to the rest of them.
Chosen has the most tensed posture. His arms look as if he's always ready to block any attack, and his legs look as if he's always ready to run at anytime. What does this mean? He's never relaxed. There's always this fear at the back of his mind, that someone is out there to get him.
victim is the most fragile out of all of them. He moves as if he has this plan in his mind that he's replaying over and over again, like anticipating every variable. His stance is very narrow, with his limbs barely leaving his main body. Not a fighter at all. He knows he's weak so he makes up for it with the smarts and resourcefulness.
Dark is the most confident. His legs look as if he has strong stance, yet his arms look very relaxed. He knows he's strong and isn't afraid of what his opponent might do. The way his head moves while in combat, imply that he's also very observant, and can likely anticipate the moves of his opponent. And yes, he's the shortest one (because victim is slightly slouched while Dark is standing straight).
H is mostly an OC at this point. He evolved so much that you can't even recognize that he's the Hangman.
Main inspiration came from:
Second - AvPhysics Also had some help with Nova on getting the head just right.
victim - The Box
Chosen - Wanted
Dark - Showdown I drew Dark's head thinner, unlike the Showdown which has thicker strokes. Although someone pointed out that I should've used the King Orange vs. The Dark Lord - An Actual Short as reference for the body.
The heads were manually redrawn and was not traced at all. The reason for this was I had to make them the same thickness.

I was just thinking recently about how to be an ally to my queer friends on tumblr. Do you have any suggestions? What kinds of things would be supportive and gender affirming to you? How can mutuals support you?
Hi there!
Ok so I'm going to generously assume that this was asked in good faith by a real person and not by an AI or bad faith actor, and will answer accordingly: the first thing to please keep in mind is the labour involved in answering basic, generic questions like this one.
Many people have already written guides which are easily accessible and publicly available, so I'd encourage you to do your own research. There are also blogs dedicated to answering questions of this nature; mine is not one of them. If you do have any specific, targeted questions about things I post, I'm generally happy to answer them, so long as it's not 101 things like "what is asexuality?". Thanks for understanding!
Since I'm feeling generous, see a few other tips below.
Obvious things to do include putting your pronouns in your bio and respecting other people's pronouns. You may also want to check your blog for any red flags such as H*rry P*tter. Overt references to Chr*stianity in your bio or pinned post can also be a red flag, especially if you don't have anything indicating that you practice an inclusive form of the religion. I'll leave it at that for now, but again: there are plenty of other pre-written resources out there that can tell you more.
Hope that helps!

Month of Nagisa - Same Blood, Different Results
Status report.
I cannot obtain the result I was expecting with my experiment. I cannot discern whether the environment or the subject himself is the problem. I shall look into the experiment conditions in more detail.
Until now, I have used solely visual observation, but I should erect cameras to watch the subject at all times and discipline the subject when resting longer than allowed.
It's embarrassing that a family name like mine has had to put up with such mediocrity for so long. If this keeps up, there is to be further reassessment of the situation and the plans for what to do moving forward from now.
I've already begun the consideration to produce a second subject for the experiment if the results prove to be below what is expected once again. I have the room space and money to be able to provide enough resources to have two experiments running at the same time. Money truly is an essential in this world.
As of writing this, even some of the higher ups in Hope's Peak Elementary is starting to chew me out for my lackluster performance as of late. I swear, this brat... ugh.
For now, I'll wait a little longer and be generous enough to give the subject another chance to finally prove his worth.
(Note to self; discuss this with the wife the next time the subject comes back with another wave of disappointing news.)
(Note to self; I should start referring to him as Subject N from now on, just to ease myself into the fact I may have to use a different subject in my reports a year or so from now.)
...
...
...
Status report.
Yet again, Subject N has shut down due to what appears to be exhaustion. It has been seven years since he was first brought onto this world, and somehow, little improvement has been made from when these tests first began four years ago. It's taking a mental toll on myself - are my methods simply not effective enough? Have I yet to find the right formula and discipline to bring out the best in him?
... No, it can't be. I've tried just about everything already from pushing him to beyond his regular hours to discipling him properly. Not to mention the growth that the subject has shown throughout the years has been minimal, and are far from the results I need as a researcher of a child's talent.
It's becoming more and more clear now. Subject N may truly be the issue here.
I've already made sure the wife will give me another subject to experiment on in the near future. Time of arrival is expected to be around eight months from when this status report was written. They will be referred to as Subject H. There's a lot of gender-neutral names in there and we've yet to figure out what the new subject's will be.
This time, for sure... on my pride as a researcher, I will not fail. My methods aren't the problem, it's him.
He's an embarrassment to not just my name, not just my work, but to anyone that's tried their best and put in the effort to reach the top. I've given him every opportunity to succeed, and he's done nothing with it. I'm tired of it. Onto the next.
...
...
...
...
...
Status report.
It has been thirteen years since Subject N was first born, and for Subject H, it's only been six.
Yet in those six years from the moment he was born, Subject H has already proven to be a massive success. Two mishaps and disputes with his physical education teacher aside, Subject H has been a hit with the researchers due to his natural born talent for any given lesson or topic, and his cold and compliant personality makes him easy to talk to.
There's little discipline or lessons needed to be taught with him, nor is there any resistance from him about any new task he is given.
He's assigned, he works, he processes, he completes it. Simple and to the point. There's minimal flaw in what Subject H has accomplished.
I was already quite sure of it about half a decade ago, but it's with 100% certainty now that I'm proud to say that Subject H has proven that the methods weren't the hiccup in my research - just the first subject; Subject N. He was unable to do what I asked of him despite the numerous years and chances I've given him.
Subject H accomplished more in less time. That's the most basic takeaway. I look forward to all the opportunities and offers the Shingetsus will be getting in the upcoming future. I'd heard that there's a recent rumor that the Izuru Kamakura project will be starting soon, and they need a subject for testing. I'll do everything I can to give Subject H such an irresistible way to improve himself to perfection.
And when I say Shingetsus, I do mean all three of us.
Subject N has proven worthless and has ran out of use.
He'll be dismissed as of tomorrow. Where he ends up after the fact is no matter to me, though I doubt with his capabilities that he'd find a place to stay in at all.
A failure has no home. Not in mine, not anywhere else.

Darcy// Wanna dance? *Refers to making a combo attack*

Laurence// Well, doll- You don't seem very wounded, unless you hide secrets too well~
Laurence// Of course, I'm reliable- you don't have to tell me~>
Rosalyn// {*H-Hehe,,,*}

Connor// You're an intolerable, egocentric reporter... I'll burn you.
Laurence// So you now wanna fight, fire boy? Let's do that OUTSIDE,,,~!
___
(In a long debate)
Laurence, one side of a round table// Aquariums are needed, we need people to acknowledge the existence of these marine creatures! They are in danger and we need this establishment to both bring families together and preserve the creatures from extinction and rescue them from natural disasters!!!
Eiji, other side of the round table// If it's meant to be for preservation of marine creatures, it won't always be the case... *Makes a thinking pose* Being in captivity at an unnatural environment would bring them psychological, mental, and physical side effects- the aquarium doesn't always have the right resources for the fishes they grow up.
Connor who likes science and still finds animals more ok than humans// The scientists are still researching to design a perfect place to keep them longer. All the countries around the world are not even banning the aquariums in the first place- so closing them down might be a big impact for all of us.
Kitty// But the bigger the fishes become, they start needing to eat big sizes,,, Instead, the workers feed them with small fishes, which isn't enough! So some of the sharks would even eat each other! Even if they get released after growing up, they didn't even learn how to get adapted to the wild since childhood!!! It's so sad,,,, This must be stopped as soon as possible! >:c
Angel// But how are the other people going to have jobs?
Peter Drew the Activist// The opposing group are being logically reasonable.... As much as I'm aware that the aquariums accelerates climate change by taking the creatures from performing their important roles of nature in maintaining rainforests- and even disrupt certain fragile food chains...!
Rosalyn, having similar thoughts as Peter// {* We don't seem to agree with closing down the aquariums immediately... You'll leave hundreds of people suddenly unemployed...*} ówò
Edward Blackwell the inventor, only knows a bit but still got invited to talk// they can just take a few days to get ready before closing down. Let the workers find jobs first as they work for the last paycheck or two.
Mira Morgan, the Marine Biologist in the middle// *listens attentively like a teacher reviewing students' homeworks*
___
If Connor does team up with the group to kill Romero
Angel// Molotov, now!!!
Connor// *Clicking something, activating a bomb before aiming at Romero* Eat this.

Special issue of Human Ecology Review:
Innovations in Human Ecology - Looking Back and Moving Forward
In 2003, Drs. Tom Dietz and Linda Kalof were hired at Michigan State University’s Sociology Department and initiated the Ecocultural Studies Research Group. The group brought together scholars that worked at the intersection of environment, animals and humans in the tradition of human ecology. The underlying idea is that an ecological system is constituted by humans, other animals, and the biophysical world all influencing each other. For example, it is now popularly accepted that humans have a significant influence on ecological systems - both its animal species and biophysical processes (Dietz et al., 2013). Significant work emerged from this group on how animals and environmental factors influence human behaviors, such as recognizing the role of animals in history (Kalof, 2007; Pohl-Resl and Kalof, 2021), the role of underlying human values but also of social structural forces in shaping ecosystem change (Dietz et al. 2005), and how companion animals influence crucial decisions such as those to leave relationships where there is domestic violence (Barrett et al., 2018). This work has been characterized by a dual commitment to quantitative and qualitative approaches. It has also employed an empirical research approach that takes seriously both critical realist and social constructionist paradigms.
Both the founding scholars are assuming emeritus status and the 20th anniversary of the community is upon us. We plan a meeting and a special journal issue to assess progress, identify challenges and celebrate continuing work. We welcome abstracts that reflect the themes of this tradition. Examples of areas of inquiry that might be addressed include but are not limited to:
● the intersection of harms perpetrated against humans, other animals, and the environment
● the symbolic and applied relations between humans and other animals
● the role of human values and other social psychological constructs in pro-environmental behavior and attitudes
● relationships among social structure and environmental conditions
● the applications of social science in addressing global environmental challenges, including deliberative processes that link science to the public
We are calling for 500-word abstracts to be submitted by August 25th, 2022 to [email protected] with the subject headline of “[Last Name of First Author] - INNOVATIONS IN HUMAN ECOLOGY”.
Selected abstracts will be notified by September 1, 2022 and invited to participate in a workshopping of a draft paper presentation October 17-18th at Michigan State University (funding situation to be determined, but we hope to provide travel assistance to early career scholars). Full paper manuscripts will be invited for submission to a special issue of Human Ecology Review by March 15, 2023. Manuscripts will be peer reviewed, need to be 6,500 words, no more than 50 references, and follow the author guidelines at https://www.societyforhumanecology.org/about-her. You may view past volumes of Human Ecology Review at https://press.anu.edu.au/publications/journals/human-ecology-review .

Using Young Adult book recommendation site
Tumblr media
In this blog post, I will be reviewing a website that was created for young adults to view. However, we will also be looking at websites that review books. The books we will look for on these websites are the young adult ‘shortlisted’ awarded books mentioned by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2024.
Established in 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia is a not-for-profit organization. The goal of the organization is to encourage reading among young Australians through the celebration of stories.
In the beginning, the CBCA started when the availability of quality children’s books was low and Australian authors and illustrators weren’t celebrated. However, this changed in 1946 when the CBCA began its annual book awards to promote Australian books with high literary and artistic quality.
(The children’s book council of Australia, 2024)
The website we will be reviewing is the young adult (YA) book-reviewing site called ‘YA Book Central’ (YABC). Founded in 1998 by Kimberly Pauley as a simple website for people to view for information on young adult books, over the years the website has grown into the largest professional book recommendation site that is targeted towards tweens and young adults. (YA Books Central, 2022)
Some may ask why is it important to have websites and be aware of websites like YABC. The answer is that YABC provides a safe space for young adults to view high-quality written YA books and this website allows them to connect with other readers. The websites give librarians a place to go to find good quality books that will suit the needs of patrons. In the article ‘Young Adult Literature: From Romance to Realis’ author Michael Cart states that the young adult genre is set to grow and become a more permanent fixture in libraries due to increased demand.  (Young Adult Literature: From Romance to Realism, 2022)
When viewing YA Book Central for the first time you are welcomed with a simple lavender design that draws the viewer's eyes to the book covers that are on display. The home page showcases the latest books that have been reviewed. Using the CBCA 2024 Young Adult Shortlisted books as a guide, one book was selected to test the search features and navigate the website.
The book that was chosen was ‘A Hunger of Thorns’ written by Lili Wilkinson, doing a basic search using the search bar. Finding the book was easy. Right away you are presented with the book along with a professional review and a reader’s review.
What was Learnt:
When first researching the Children's Book Council of Australia, research was done to understand if the CBCA shortlisted books are diverse and meet the needs of educators. In the 2021 article, ‘I See You. Do you see me? Investigating the representation of diversity in prize-winning Australian early childhood picture books’ this question is asked and answered. The authors found that the CBCA Book of the Year Awards Early Childhood Category failed to meet the needs of educators by not reflecting the diversity of current-day Australia. (reference)
Why is this representation important? As stated in the article, educators use award-winning books to assist with building books to address the Curriculum needs and as resources for teaching in the classroom. (para. 22)

Feminism and Digital Communities: The Case of Tumblr
Tumblr media
The rise of social media has revolutionized how feminist movements communicate, organize, and build communities, challenging the traditional notion of the public sphere proposed by Habermas. While Habermas (1964) envisioned a space for open discourse and debate, the reality of social inequality often limited equal participation. The advent of digital platforms like Tumblr has created a dynamic and accessible feminist digital public sphere.
The digital spaces enable open discussions on various feminist issues, from workplace inequality and sexual harassment to body image and reproductive rights (Usman 2023). Women share experiences, exchange resources, and offer peer support, fostering solidarity and collective strength. Hashtag activism further amplifies this power. Campaigns with hashtags like #MeToo and #TimesUp, born on social media, have ignited global conversations and mobilized millions around issues of sexual violence and workplace harassment (Jouët 2018). Activist Tarana Burke introduced #MeToo in 2006, but it gained widespread recognition in 2017 when actress Alyssa Milano's tweet garnered 12 million responses within 24 hours (Corbett 2022). These hashtags function as rallying points, allowing women to connect, share their stories, and demand change.
Tumblr media
To be more specific, Tumblr’s platform vernacular creates a community for feminist discourse through interactions like reblogging and roleplaying. Research by Keller (2019) shows that teenage girls on Tumblr are strategic and savvy users, not merely victims. The platform's design, which prioritizes aesthetics and user customization, supports its role as a creative and feminist community. Besides, the accessibility and reach of social media platforms are particularly empowering for marginalized voices within feminism. Unlike traditional spaces dominated by academia or mainstream media, online communities offer a platform for diverse feminist perspectives (Megarry 2014). This promotes a more inclusive approach, ensuring the movement reflects the experiences of all women.
In conclusion, Tumblr presents how digital communities function as modern public spheres, facilitating feminist activism and critique through platform vernaculars. Social media enables diverse and inclusive feminist movements, empowering marginalized voices and fostering global solidarity.

Gratitude Journaling for Enhancing Resilience
Introduction
To get through the ups and downs of daily life, resilience—the capacity to recover from setbacks—is essential. People can face challenges, get back on their feet after failures, and keep a positive attitude even when things are hard (Lohner & Aprea, 2021). One effective way to boost resilience is to keep a gratitude journal. This is a simple but powerful tool that promotes mental health and strength.
Main Content
The Concept of Gratitude and Its Relationship to Resilience
Even in the face of challenges, gratitude entails noticing and enjoying the positive parts of life. From negative to positive events by thinking about what are grateful for, which makes to feel happier and more hopeful helps to change the focus (Lohner & Aprea, 2021). A positive attitude is closely related to resilience because it allows people to observe things in a new light, find value in hard times, and keep their hope and drive.
Improved Mental Health and Gratitude Journaling
Researchers in the Journal of Positive Psychology found that people who kept a gratitude journal for 10 weeks were happier and had fewer signs of depression than those who did not do the activity. Another study in the journal Personality and Individual Differences found that people who kept a gratitude journal regularly felt better about their overall health and happiness.
Writing down one's blessings urges people to keep their minds on the positive things in their lives, which can change their outlook and mental state over time. This change in focus helps people become more mentally strong, making it easier to deal with stress and bad luck.
Intervention / Exercise of Starting a Gratitude Journal
Starting a gratitude journal is simple and can be a natural part of daily life. Here is a step-by-step plan to get started:
Choose a Journal:Choose a notebook, notepad, or digital app that looks good and is simple. It does not matter what style to use as long as stick to it.
Set a Regular Time: Write in the journal simultaneously every day. Many people start their day positively by writing in the morning, while others like to think about their day in the evening.
Start small: Every day, start by writing down three to five things are thankful for. These can be simple things like having a tasty meal, being thanked for something nice, or seeing a stunning sunset (Kumar et al., 2022).
Be Specific: Avoid making broad comments; instead, talk about specifics. This morning, I could write "I'm grateful for the phone call with my sister" instead of "I'm grateful for my family."
Reflect on Feelings: Take a moment to think about how each thing made to feel and why are thankful for it. This makes the practice more profound and increases its emotional effect (Klibert et al., 2019).
Stay Consistent: Try to write in the journal every day, but do not stress if forget one. Always being the same is the key.
Conclusion
A gratitude journal is a vital practice that can significantly improve resilience and general well-being. A more positive and robust attitude can develop by regularly thinking about the good things in life (Bird et al., 2017). Check out the changes in the attitude and mental health after trying it. Explain their experiences to others and push them to join this practice that changes lives. Writing in a journal can make it more robust and more adaptable.

Funding of a major sports venue (SoFi Stadium)
The funding of popular sports venue always come with criticism and different perspectives. There is a school of that believes taxpayers become burdened by the funding of a new sports venue (Matheson, 2019). Other believes the funding should rather be invested in areas such as housing, healthcare and education (Merrefield, 2024). For the purposes of this topic, I would analyse the funding of the SoFi stadium in Inglewood, California in the United States of America. The total cost of the stadium settles around 5 billion dollars and was built with a combination of public and private funding (Lubell, 2020). Home to the Los Angles Chargers and Rams, the construction of the stadium sparked arguments about the use of taxpayers' money and priorities of sitting governments.
Tumblr media
Image 1.0 depicting some concerns about the construction of the SoFi Stadium.
As evident in Image 1.0, there was popular belief among sections of the public that funding behind this project should have been allocated to more pressing community needs such as homelessness and public health care (Coleman, 2020). From an academic perspective, critics challenged the fairness of using taxpayers' money to support a privately-owned venue like the SoFi stadium. There were others who believed the construction of the stadium will reel in economic benefits of the city of Los Angeles including increased job opportunities and a boost to the tourism sector. From the media point of view, there was emphasis on the state-of-the-art features of the stadium, its grandeur architecture, technological innovations and advancements.
Tumblr media
Image 2.0 showing some technological features of the SoFi stadium including a 360-video board.
Both academic and media perspective agrees on the economic impacts such a sports venue would do for the city and ultimately the country by driving tourism numbers and generation of jobs. The academic perspective on this is quite diverse and involves the allocation of public funds, opportunity cost and the potentially trade-off (Hanstad et al., 2020). This perspective raises issues around economic justifications and impacts of rather funding other community services. The media perspective focuses on areas such as the coverage of the architecture design, the innovation and grandeur features of the venue. There are others that questions the spending behind such venues and emphasise the controversy surrounding the funding of sports venues (Sant et al., 2019).
Tumblr media

Overall, both perspectives provide valuable insights into the complexities and arguments surrounding the funding of major sports venues. These arguments counter each other but ultimately helps form the opinion of the average sports fan, taxpayer or citizen.
