I’ve hiked the rolling hills of the Appalachian Trail. Hiked Death Valley in extreme heat. Pikes Peak was extraordinary. The Rocky Mountains in Colorado are breathtaking in more ways than one! I’ve been across the country and have been given difficult tasks in my wanderings…I will continue to push through no matter what those obstacles are, making my journey over rough trails and mountains of memories to come. What’s lies ahead? I know my training will continue to go further, longer, harder and will not give up my journey to discover more. I am driven. Focused. And with new found friendships through the Summit Gladiators, we will conquer more together! Almost 15 weeks ago my incredible husband challenged our family to train for a #HalfMarathon Since he and I had already run @runrocknroll 2 years ago, I thought I had checked that off the bucket list, however this would be a #FIRST for @emilyditzel & @aaron_ditzel The clincher of the deal was we would be training for @rundisney in January! We were all up for the challenge and began to #hilltrain #trainhard #trainintheelements We trained with @jeffgallowayolympian #runwalkrun #rundisney getting ready for #wdwmarathonweekend Despite a few minor setbacks, we followed the plan 3x week #longruns, #rain #snow We made it happen. Left the 18° temps in Philly to head to sunny FLA. I was just out for an easy #bikeride ride on the #fairfaxcrosscountytrail, but I guess I got moving well through this little sprint segment. 12 miles on the hybrid to finish out the week. I also closed out my @mcmillanrunning #hilltraining program, and now I move into a #staminatraining program. As long as racing is mostly on hold, I’m just going to keep putting these building blocks in place. Optimal Running Workouts to Loose Weight 🏃‍♂️🤝💐 Running is simple yet one of the most effective workout routines.if done correctly and consistently, it can help to burn tons calories and also strengthen heart muscles. The Fartlek ; In Swedish, the word Fartlek means ‘speed play’ it’s a continuous long distance run that alternates between fast running with periods of slower running. We can mix and match as per our liking and convenience. Like you can jog for 100 meters minutes then sprint or walk. Downward ladder ; This is more difficult than the first one. We have to start with running at a moderate pace for a mile, followed by light jogging for 2 minutes then running at a high pace for half a mile. Again jog for a minute followed by running at a high pace for another half mile. It tests our limits and also our lung capacity. But should not be attempted for those just beginning their workout journey One -for- one training ; Just like Fartlek, one for one training also alternate between fast and slow running sessions. The only difference is that the timing is fixed. We have to run for a minute and then walk for another one minute then repeat. So we get enough time to rest and catch our breath. Long Run ; If we don’t find much time on weekdays to run,try long running sessions. This training session improves our overall endurance and boosts our confidence. Also can try different kinds of terrains, increase our pace and also cover more distance with time Hill Training ; In this session we have to run up and down the hill. Choose an inclined surface , then run uphill. Had to force myself out the door this evening. Just down the big hill & then back up again! The original thought was an extra couple of repeats of the steepest top section. But it is a big hill & on the way back down I realised I could be home & complete 5km so I sacked off the repeats.
