Mmhmm so I was so excited to see the holbein pastel colored pencil set made it to the US. Months ago I was tempted to import from another country but I couldn't justify the cost also I could only find the 50 set piece. As much as I love pastels..I dont use pencils that much to pay import fees for 50 pencils. So Im really happy to have the 12 available. My only complaint is the tin looks like its from 1982. Like, I need my products to come in cute packaging.

Im not that big of a pencil snob to get into pencil details. I used it on top of some copics I purchased as well and they felt great. I needed to replace a purple copic that died and then I wanted 2 other flesh tones for dog ears. Not that exciting but I did make a pastel drawing for the sake of the holbeins!!!! *heavy breathing*

Im also retiring my crap sketchbook that I use for thumbnails. Ill need to I guess scan some of the more finished appearing drawings and then start a new one.

And I purchased a couple inspirational artsy books that were on sale. I already own David Colemans first book and have had it for years and it was inspirational when I was younger. So I saw the second on sale and said "I could use this money for a vacation but ok, book it is" . And this other book "The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse". I saw a lot over christmas everywhere but again it was on sale. I would have loved this book as a kid. The real simple lines forming a complete illustration. I cant do that now and I really appreciate the style. Strangely enough it brings me back to that scene in Homeward Bound when Peter is in class drawing shadow. When I was a kid that little doodle of shadow was extremely inspirational to me for some reason. And this book reminds me of that. If I were to do a proper inktober Id want my art to look like this but ha...never in a million years could I do it.

And last have my angry puppers whos officially overweight and now we gotta kick up the exercise and less snacks which mommy throws at her so she can be left alone long enough to draw.
