I really like the ending to episode 5, when Mireille opens up to Kirika for the very first time. Oh, she's been cordial. They share a bed. They've almost certainly fucked (are we going to do it? Yes, we are), and yet Mireille has been offended by Kirika, whose killing is vulgar, yet dares to cry for her own barbarity. Whose wit shames Mireille, whom Kirika has repeatedly saved. She let Kirika into her life, but refused to let her into her heart.

The scene resembles the previous morning, when she passive-agressively describes the state of the game. She vents her grief upon Kirika, to whom she owes her only piece of the puzzle. Yet as the only face to the faceless conspiracy, Mireille makes her the target of her misplaced frustration.

The next day, after retreiving Vanel's message, when she feels she owes Kirika an explanation, she's so stiff about it. It isn't easy for Mireiilleto trust. Gazing at her with a straight back and a hard stare, yet speaking in a faltering, low voice. Yet, she seems lighter for it, smiling gently.

That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"
