Found a Darkthur sketch in procreate from about a month ago, decided to clean it up the tiniest bit to post. I know this isn’t necessarily the only or the most likely interpretation, but I absolutely love the narrative idea of this Arthur cutting off his own left arm when John gets too uppity.
This season I want John to use his projecting powers/his arm to kill again, but this time I don't want it to be out of hatred, I want it to be out of devotion to Arthur, so devoted he becomes unrecognizable in a way we've never seen before. I want him to become utterly visceral. Out of so much devotion that it doesn't even cross Arthur's mind that this could be remanence of The King in Yellow, John's his own now, I want him to blur the lines between John and something else entirely, something worse.
john and arthur are so interesting because the worst thing ever could and will happen between them like things that would destroy the most strongest friendships or family relationships but they HAVE to soldier on through them and repair what they're left with because they physically cannot be seperate from eachother and neither can they take a longer break from communicating with eachother
“average person encounters 1 eldritch horror a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person encounters 0 eldritch horrors per year. Horrors Arthur, who has an elder god in his eyeballs & encounters over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
AU where instead of getting separated, Arthur and John fused together into a new creature, not human, not god.
He still keeps Faroe's music box close, he does not remember why he does, or what is it supposed to mean, he only knows that letting it go means losing himself again.
"Faroe... I can't let Faroe go... I can't let her go...
Who is Faroe...?
I don't know... Faroe... I can't let her go... I can't let her go..."
This is probably a favorite piece of mine right now that was done as a collab with bluejayblueskies as a journal cover and piece!

[ID: A painting of a depiction of John Doe and Arthur Lester from Malevolent. Arthur is a faired skinned man with freckles, russet hair with gray streaks, wearing a white button down shirt, looking defiant. He stands holding a silver lighter in his right hand that illuminates him and the figure behind him. John Doe is a large, masked figure cloaked in golden yellow and a large white mask with golden eyes and one broken horn on the mask. He has coal black skin and a monstrous hand grasping Arthur's shoulders and neck, claws poking against his shirt. Both of them are cloaked with black and gold smoke circling around them with colored shadows cast on them from the flame of the lighter. The logo of the artist is in the lower left hand corner.
