real ones ALWAYS knew tengen was a hottie esp when she was first introduced 😔 everyones suddenly changing their tune after seeing her younger version so fast.....theyre all SNAKES.......if u dont like her at her (older/current ver) then u dont deserve her at her (younger ver/not sure which era xP) 😢 although i am glad that more ppl started talking abt her n paying attention tho but i cant believe thats all it took 😭 i cant wait for more of her n kenjakus relationship to be revealed that tenken edit was a banger !!!! (since we're on the topic on crackships thoughts on yukiten-)

This switch-up on Tengen is giving me whiplash man...

I mean, I'm happy people are finally appreciating her as an actual character and are starting to see her influence on the story and I'm certainly stoked for the up tick in fanart (hope it last past the release of Vol 23), but it's just so weird to go from the fandom being like "ugly old man, stop taking up screentime" to "oh she's a woman?? who knew? not like she literally told us that. she's hot? suddenly I can recognize her as an actual character"

If you only like/are interested in Tengen when she's young and pretty, you're missing out. Have you seen her hands?! Also, ageing is her whole thing. It's literally her superpower. It's part of what makes her so interesting. And in terms of her relationship with Kenjaku, the older she gets, the more her body ages, the more appealing she becomes for them. This young appearance is like a slap in the face because she only looks like this for a few years after the merger, the thing Kenjaku dedicated 1000 years to preventing. Her looking like this means they failed.

I feel if you're gonna be in it for the old people yuri, you shouldn't exclude the "old" part of it. I mean, ultimately people can ship and enjoy a character however they want, I just want Tengen to get appreciation for who she really is (old, stubborn, dangerously disinterested and passive granny) and not just be the hot girl of the week.

I'm really looking forward to the exploration of their relationship and characters in the future. Like all the drama of how Kenjaku currently copes with having almost reached their goal and having lost Tengen (you're doing amazing honey, sitting all alone, talking to yourself). I'm stoked for their backstory too. I still believe they used to have a teacher-student relationship and to a degree still do (Tengen calls Kenjaku a child, they call her old like every other sentence). Just how they both contributed to jujutsu society existing the way it does is so fascinating.

YukiTen...now that's something I haven't thought about at all. I can see the potential with the vessel breaking away and defying her "destiny" thing, but honestly, to me it just feels like Yuki suffering through hanging out with her abusive, conservative grandma. Also, wouldn't this count as twincest? selfcest? Their relationship is certainly interesting and honestly nightmare fuel from Yuki's perspective. Is she just hearing constant whispers from the previous vessels? Screams? You could've gotten a lot more drama out of their interactions. Instead of muddy Choso, I would've been really interested in hearing how Yuki feels about fighting and dying for the person she was made to submit her body and soul to. She managed to keep her personhood, but ultimately still died for Tengen's sake. Pointlessly. Honestly, her death ended up being not so different from Riko's aside from the fact that she chose it. Even if she won, would protecting Tengen really feel that much better? She's basically fighting to perpetuate the system she technically wants to dismantle.

Anyway, I have a lot of thoughts about the two, but I don't ship them.

I am really conflicted with Togiri. I’m definitely a multishipper so I don’t know thst I actually /hate/ many ships , but I just kind of cannot see them working in any context. I like the two and how they interact but I cannot see them being anything more than platonic at best, unless it’s one of those dynamics where they are dysfunctional and don’t like each other and that’s part of the appeal. Fheirk. I dont really ship Togami around too much, he’s so highly specific to me tbh. I do love both of these characters vibes though, and exploring how they intersect would really interest me. I feel like they are both very closed-off people who value professionalism and togami does respect her prowess but there is always a bit of friction, even when he eventually can concede to her. I do not think they would be friends without Naegi being involved.

Naehiro..oh my god I really like them. Something about them is so sweet, and I think it does some justice to Naegi as a character, I am really put off when he is depicted as overly submissive or passive, and I’ve always felt he and Chihiro are depicted more on equal ground. Plus I’ve always found Naegi’s relationship with alter ego really charming. He seems a bit drawn to Chihiro in some of the early dialogue which I appreciate a lot , he thinks she’s so cute…I get excited whenever I see fanart of them tbh. Plus…it kind of hits that somewhat melancholy note for me that I enjoy with relationship dynamics, given Chihiro’s death and then alter ego saving Naegi when Kirigiri basically had him sentenced him to the gutters lol. Oof. Big fan, like them a lot. I have yet to draw her but Chihiro is up there for me regarding characters I enjoy\<3 All in all it’s a little sweet for my personal hyperfixations and I don’t always understand all the fanon I see surrounding them, but I support it and am very fond.

"You were quite a known face on social media back in the human realm, playing games, doing unboxings, just vibin in general, fans around the globe looked forward to your streams a lot! However, considering the sudden (unannounced) invitation to the exchange program, you had to leave all of that behind out of the blue. It wasn't as bad at first, but you have to admit you do miss the feeling of being able to do goofy shit online. Luckily for you, with the advance technology of Devildom and some spicy magic, the internet had synced with the human realm, and thats when you decided to finally re-enter the streaming scene. How will the brothers react upon seeing your peculiar past time?"

I honestly don't see him as someone who goes on the internet a lot

This man felt his instincts kick in, he ran as fast as he could, papers forgotten, and he immediately slammed your door open. Splinters scattering around, your door definitely damaged, as his eyes held a glare and his demon form was out, wings spread in a threatening display.

He was ready to beat someone's ass as he had thought someone had hurt you in here.

But all hes met with is you, infront of your chair and PC, and a game over on the screen...

To say he was unamused was an understatement cause you just lost your internet priviliges for giving him a heart attack (He said it was because you were being rowdy and noisy but with what you saw you knew that wasn't the case)

Good luck tryna puppy-eye your way to his heart to let you continue streaming lol.

If by some miracle you managed to wriggle your rights back from his hands, he'd warn you not to be so loud next time.

Not everyone's the same, so if you were the shy soft streamer who does more art streams or something akin to a podcast, you can bet that Lucifer will be putting you on while he works, he kinda knows your streaming schedule at this point and if you were running late, he'd force one of his brothers to take over your dish washing duties or any chores you were stuck with

If you were the loud obnoxious meme type, hed still try to watch out of curiosity, and as much as he appreciates that you were getting comfortable here in Devildom with how you laugh and joke around, he still can't approve of it. Its too loud, its much like his brothers energy and he has enough of that already, so he probably doesn't watch as much.

He has countlessly came to your room to shush you and at this point your fans had made a compilation of each time Lucifer had barged in to tell you off

Look he likes it when you scream, but not when hes in the middle of work okay--

At this point, chat has deemed Lucifer as dad and you as their mom/dad.

If he ever catches wind of this he'd definitely be teasing you in private for centuries to come.

You love your broke idiot, but you did wanna keep the tone of your stream today a bit more chill, you wanted to have a proper Q&A with your fans to hopefully clear any bad vibes around your 3 month disappearance.

When Mammon has learnt your door was locked he definitely was a bit pissy, he knocked on your door loudly even and was calling out for you to let him in, but to no avail.

Bro he's scared.

He usually was allowed to enter, and you usually answered if you did need to be left alone for a bit, so just leaving him hanging got his mind racing and he had to press up his ear on the wooden door to try and hear if you were okay

When this continues on he finally resorts to getting help, but the only one in the house ws Levi, so he kicks down HIS door.

Levi boutta summon Lotan for interrupting him honestly

But as Mammon exclaim you weren't answering and he worried for your wellbeing, Levi rolls his eyes and scoffs,

"Idiot Mammon, they're streaming don't bother them…"

Streaming? why didn't you tell him???

He did huff and now was forcing his way to use Levi's PC for a moment

He was busy on his console, and if he stood up now hed be breaking his world record so he was at a terrible state so he just resorts to threats of him drowning the Avatar of Greed if he does anything stupid on his PC.

He immediately logs in to your streaming platform and he watches for a bit,

You were more dolled up now just to look decent on stream, and he felt this jealousy rise as you interact with your chat, especially to those saying I love you's and stuff, and you even said it back? the audacity! You were his werent you? Were you replacing him with these nobodies?

He huffs as he realized that those who paid got their message highlighted, and thus, he starts donating. (Mind you this was Levi's account...)

NGL, they thought Mammon was a creepy stalker and red flags were being waved everywhere

Mammon wasnt deemed to be the fastest out of his brothers for nothing

But really though, as much as he enjoys the thought of getting so much cash from something so simple, he prefers the joy of being able to proudly exclaim that he was your first man!

but for those who fully support you, he always feels so mushy and shy when they say the ship you guys so hard

But now, as you make the announcement to your viewers and Levi to his, the internet explodes as a special collab stream was hapening between the expert gamer and avatar of envy of Devildom along with the beloved exchange student and streamer of the human realm

Your usual viewers reach between 10-15k, but as you start stream, that number boosts higher and beyond

Before streaming though, Levi was incredibly nervous, he'd picked the games for you to play that he knew you would enjoy with him, but his mind kept racing about whatthe fans thought, he didnt wanna disappoint them

But you had to remind him that whatever they say will not matter in the end as this was merely for fun, this was YOUR stream and you guys were gonna do what you want and nobody can have a say on it. (Maybe except Lucifer)

Regardless, his thoughts subsided as you two delve into your stream that lasted a solid 7 hours, you definitely promised your chat that you and Levi will be doing more streams together from now on.

Once the cameras cut and yall are left alone, Both of you collapse on bed, and despite you being asleep already, Levi was just far too giddy as everything dwells on him.

Having a player 2 by his side now had never felt so intoxicating and he as just so lucky to have you.

He obviously adores it, although some streams he wouldnt join just so he can play games on his own

He's still an introvert afterall, he needs his alone time

But he prefers that alone time with you, his Henry.

So when youre about to go stream, he kinda becomes a bit pouty, but with a simple promise of kisses (and maybe even more if youd like) he would let you go, but his attention would disappear from his game altogether.

He might just end up watching you instead

May or may not, at some point, just chat you and ask if its too late to join you

You do allow him to join you and play from the comforts of his room as both of you can simply play via internet, you give him the comfort to not turn on his mic or webcam either and you have no idea how he appreciates that.

I have always loved theories (movies, books, tv shows—you name it). And I fell in love with many elriel accounts because of their theories and how they made me feel welcomed and appreciated. But lately, I just feel really tired. I kind of want to take a step back and not deal with the labels of the ship war, the “they’re the enemy” type of mentality, and just be simply a *reader* again.

Like, I just saw someone posting about another book series I really like under its tag, and when I visited that person’s page, I realized they were a pretty well-known Gw*nriel shipper who has more often than not been very snide and rude towards Elriels. And it made me really sad because obviously we enjoy a lot of the same books, but because of this stupid, absolutely crazy ship war, I have such a negative view of them and they probably do of me as well.

So then I decided to glance through the Gw*nriel tag just to see if I could feel more neutral about the whole thing, but I was met with fake acotar quotes that made me cringe and posts belittling Elriels. I scrolled for a good 10 min and other than harmless fanfics, everything else was completely unconvincing. The same ribbon/training scene was used exhaustively. You get my point.

So now I’m sitting here debating if I just want to delete this app because at this point I know who I ship and that’s not going to change, and I feel like the only thing I’m enjoying anymore is fanart and I can typically just find that on insta. I do still enjoy a lot of elriel pages (such as yours), but I find a lot of elriel pages also dive into the drama too much for me. Sometimes even purposely mistagging to spark drama, or making pretty snide posts of their own that I just don’t think help the situation. So many Elriels preach of being the bigger person, and while I think that’s mostly true at times, I still find many Elriels just as guilty of shameless behavior online.

I am so sorry I ended up kinda rambling and didn’t even really have a question in there. I think I just wanted to get that off my chest. I think it may be time I give tumblr a break until after the acotar 5 announcement comes out…

I always advise against deleting accounts, unless you leave the fandom entirely. I think some drama comes with the territory.

Also, while it's a bit more difficult, but you can try to separate the fandom allegiance from your interest in other books. So to give you an example--I follow some Nessian blogs, which are EXTREMELY anti IC and anti Elain, but they offer me interesting info, stuff that I want to read, and while i dont necessarily engage, I still enjoy what they put out. And stuff I dont enjoy, I just skip.

I think we are so programmed to be very black and white in our likes and dislikes that we leave no room for gray. I think in every fandom you have a 'hard no', but otherwise, as I always say, enjoy what you enjoy.

But, as I always say in these instances--you look out for Number One, which is you. If something is affecting you very negatively, don't force yourself to follow or engage. Your mental health is the #1 priority. Always.

OMORI SPOILERS, but it accidentally turned into a long appreciation thread for the game and fandom??

[TLDR] I am very greatful for this community and the game because it pretty much got my life back on track ♡

Anyways thinking about how in the "netural" ending when basil yknow, uses the garden sheers on himself, sunny decides that nothing is there

Can you lease enlighten me as to why you ship Amomiche and why you love Amostia so much? Since Amostia is given very little screen time if you will and barely characterized at all it's difficult for me to see why you ship them so much and why you love Amostia so much. Or is it partially because your a hardcore Len x Miku shipper? You can ship whatever you want ofc I just am curious as to what led you to ship it and stuff. Plus I'm more of a Gumi x Gammon shipper (#NemesisxNyozeForLIFE!!!) who barely ships Miku or Len or Rin with anybody and when I do ship them it's more often Miku x Rin (I'm trash for girlxgirl ok) sooo. And yes that goes for in Evillious as well I barely ship any of the Mikus with anybody (minus Michaela x Clarith) and same goes for any of the Lens. So oof

dw!! i understand your points and im aware of how unusual it is for me to love a character like amostia and ship something so unexpected like amomiche (i already apologize since this is long,,, oops,,,)

i would be lying if i said that the fact im a diehard lenmiku shipper didnt affect my decision in bringing amomiche into existence, but it's mostly due to this specific extensive au that serves as amostia's characterization arc and the hcs involving both amostia and michelle.

as for why i love amostia, it's because i thought he was a character with a lot of potential that was shoved to the side as a simple plot device + i was incredibly salty over why amostia is the only irregular who doesnt appear in motheavenly novel at all. since ma was given some characterization that culminated in her "i'm going to destroy the universe to confirm my existence" goal at the end of the novel, i wondered, "what about the Punishment boy? doesnt he get a chance to appear since he's an irregular too? where is he?"

heck, even irregular in scap short story gets a personality, however extremely barebones and single-minded it is, and he's called a boy without an ego since he died right after being born. despite this, he still had the desire of meet his mother.

around 2018, i began writing what would be amostia's backstory because i thought he deserved one. he deserved a personality. he deserved to be cared about. i was ready from the start to be that one weirdo who likes an obscure character no one cares about (i never finished that fic, btw. my hcs changed overtime and my prose back then was kinda ew, so i deleted it)

i never intended to love him as much as i do now. i just wanted to give him a personality and a backstory, but the more i thought about what might had happened to him in lunaca labora and during his time as Punishment the weapon and what would be his personality, the more i wished him to be seen as a person rather than "the weapon nemesis used to blow up the world".

i joined an ec discord server for no other reason but to find other fans, and rather hesitantly shared my hcs of him and fanart in the channels. as i said before, i knew it was weird for me to be attached to a character no one cared about, but i nevertheless persisted on.

before i knew, i was changing everybody's perception of amostia, turning him from a simple plot device into an actual character to the eyes of the fandom.

to be honest, i still do not believe how much everything has changed all thanks to me, only because i cared enough to share what i thought of him. i didnt... expect my hcs to be received so warmly. i made him starkly different from your typical ec len — he's angry, explosive and rude; nothing like the dimwitted and enthusiastically chaotic hansel, much less like the loyal and stoic allen — but maybe the fact he was so different was why people liked him so much. he's like a bright red dot on a canvas of soft colors. im really happy that people liked and accepted my hcs, even after Outlaw & Lychgate was published.

as for amomiche, here's where the extensive au comes in — before Outlaw & Lychgate was published, i had a thought that amostia wandered around the dead world before being found by meta and pretty much adopted by her. this characterization arc of his is meant to be a "coming to age" type of story, exploring his past and making him learn how to be a better person — an actual person with dreams and purpose instead of a weapon merely to be used by others.

initially, i intended michelle to be amostia's friend since they both have a link through nemesis. they would kinda bond through that since michelle wanted to know a bit about nemesis despite amostia himself not knowing much, after amostia finding michelle lost in a snowy night and bringing her back home.

one time, i received a m/a ask in amostia askblog about "len" and "miku" being a couple for some asks. since michelle was the closest "miku" to amostia, i obviously were to bring her in. tbh i was already slightly struggling with keeping them as friends since i found them to be really sweet together and my dumb lenmiku ass bothering tf outta me, and that m/a broke me definitely. i gave in. (although i took a time to answer the m/a itself, admittedly. by the time i answered it, i was already doodling some amomiche stuff)

again, i was ready to be seen as weird, to be the only person in the entire fandom to ship them together. i never hid the fact it is a crackship. i knew i would possibly be cast out as lenmiku trash for it. regardless, i kept doodling them and talking about them simply because i liked them (hell, they stay as friends for a long time in the au before romantic feelings blossom. sue me for liking friends-to-lovers trope with a self-improvement undertone)

and then, my surprise when it was accepted by the fandom despite its status as crackship. gosh, even people who arent into evillious had doodled amomiche!! someone who was into ec actually thought it was canon!! and was saddened to discover that it wasnt because they thought it was really sweet!! and they didnt even ship lenmiku normally!! i swear this still makes me die inside, seriously 😂

so you can say it's a combination of everything that eventually brought amomiche into existence, including my own love for amostia. i dont blame anyone for being confused with it since amostia as a character is so underdeveloped in canon and amomiche is a crackship. it's okay, really. im just vibing here. im not here looking for validation for them nor am i hoping for official crumbs.

all of this is self-indulgent, simply because i want amostia to be more popular, even if slightly. amostia will never become as popular as hansel or allen, im aware, but as long as someone appreciates him as a person, then i think my job is done here. all i want is people to appreciate him. if someone comes to like amomiche too, then it also makes me extremely happy! if someone likes amostia but not amomiche, that's fine too! i don't mind different hcs. if one respects my own, then i respect theirs.

so. yeah. it might not make sense to some people, but that's basically it. i am but a humble artist doodling stuff for a character who she wants to give the happiness and the characterization he didnt get in canon. if someone likes them, then im happy!! 💖

!!! omg thank u Ceru! u might be one of my favorite mutuals <33 (putting this under a read more just so I can speak at lengths about each individual character)

Why I like Kagami: this is where I sarcastically ask “why DON’T i like him” but that’s literally the next question so; he’s everything i want to be and more. He has the determination and the willpower to make his own dreams come true, he’s gay as shit, he’s tall and buff and well-adjusted, mature enough to live on his own at an annoyingly young age, he’s funny and dumb and a total himbo as well as an excellent advisor bc of how grounded he is.

Why I don’t: I’m... not really good with explosive people. Violent men with loud voices especially scare me, and I’d think I’d flinch around him a lot and that would make me rlly anxious.

Favorite episode: it’s a toss-up between the Seirin fam visiting his place for the first time (is it where Kuroko confesses his love to him and then passes out in his arms? idk), and the onsen episode. I also loved all his plays against Kise and Aomine. AND the training camp w him running a lot in the sand.

Favorite season/movie: season 2 probably because he’s not a jerk anymore, but he’s still on his way to shed off any asshole behavior stuck to him. And I actually liked Last Game?

Head Canon: I have several collections because I think too much about this boy, but here’s something I think about his family: he doesn’t know what happened to his mom. He never asked, because it wasn’t relevant, and he didn’t want to inconvenience his dad by questioning him. Occasionally, as a kid he felt like he was missing out on something (seeing other kids with their moms, feeling like they’re being treated with much more gentle care because they have moms), but as he grew older he realized that nurturing behavior shouldn’t have been limited to only a mother, and that he was just straight up neglected without any regards to missing a parent in his life.

Unpopular opinion: I never realized this was an unpopular opinion but I’m glad he went back to America at the end of Last Game. Obviously, it’s sad that he had to separate from the others, but I felt like Japanese basketball has always been just a stepping point to him, and now that he’d beat the best of them, it was time to move on. And it also warms my heart that him getting scouted in the US gave Aomine hope to aim big, too. I felt like both of them would’ve felt trapped in Japan with their skill sets.

A wish: I want him to be happy and gay and to confront Himuro and tell him how hurt he was by how he treated him and probably do the same to his dad too

Why I like Momoi: she is SO nurturing and sweet and she cares so much about her boys!! I’m sorry it always turns into “how they remind me of myself” but actually I get feeling like a background character and being the moral/emotional/physical support of those who are more talented or in any way better than you. I feel a strange kind of kinship with her and also,,, feminine girls make my heart stop, and it doesn’t get more feminine than Momoi. Added: Aomine aside, the Touou team wouldn’t worth shit without her skills tbh, and she’s not in any way less than the GoM. Also, I appreciate her being the one person to try to keep their friend group together.

Why I don’t: Analytical People Scare me like!! how do u know stuff people are Unknowable!! I usually am also irked by her pointing out Riko’s breast size but I can just pretend that’s in a gay way (maybe Momoi likes girls with small boobs and she’s just bad at flirting) (also I don’t exactly liked her calling Aomine a “ganguro” but I have too little knowledge on the use of this word to say exactly why)

Favorite episode (scene if movie): uh the one where Aomine made her cry? It really came through how much love she actually has for her friends at that one.

Favorite season/movie: she was great in all of them!!

Favorite line: I can’t remember the exact quote and Google isn’t really helpful either but the one where she made Kuroko promise they’ll always play together or something? Or that they’re gonna beat Aomine?? idk?

OTP / Brotp: it’s both AoMomo. I feel like the have the most special and strongest bond in the entire series.

Why I don’t: the whole “kissing children” thing rubbed me the wrong way but again, just like Momoi’s obsession with comparing breast sizes, it’s just bad/sexist writing from Fujimaki probably

Favorite episode (scene if movie): adshg any and all where she expressed that Himuro and Kagami are equally important to her <33 that shit makes my heart burst

Favorite season/movie: she only appears towards the end of s2 and in s3 so... I guess s3?

Favorite line: its so Bad that u literally can’t find the iconic quotes of these iconic ladies anywhere but... her story on finding her passion again through teaching kids, and anytime she mentions her fondness of Kagami and Himuro.

Why I like Himuro: em dash Asdgsdj I’m joking, I’m becoming more and more fond of the boy. Once I realized that he shouldn’t have been the “bigger person” in that situation and one year doesn’t really mean much when you’re that young and that hurt, I realized he’s actually a good and hard-working kid and I’m sorry for giving him so much shade. Also I really like his snark and sass, but that might not even be canon at this point tbh

Why I don’t: I’m still sort of irked by him beating down on Kagami because he was envious/mad, but I realized the aspect of that situation that Really got to me was how devoted Kagami still was to him after all that. That devotion was what felt toxic, nothing that Himuro actually did to him.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): the time they met up w Kagami just to exchange a dramatic socially distancing bro fist and a few encouraging words.... gays be Like That

I have to say it’s refreshing to see that there are others who also aren’t super into the beefleaf thing cause I thought I was missing subtext or something. Like am I dumb? Was there stuff going on that I didn’t catch. I’ll say that even though I don’t have a problem with people shipping it and I think the art and AUs are fun, I could never ship a post canon beefleaf. The main reason being (and I think this gets super lost in all the shipping and AUs) just how messed up what he xuan put shi qingxuan through is. It isn’t lost on me that what happened to HX is terrible and he has every right to want revenge. Shi Wudu totally had that coming and like I don’t feel sorry for him. But SQX?? He did nothing but be your BEST FRIEND. Such a lovely person full of life, who cares so much about his friends and you pretended to be his friend for so long, then pulled the rug from under him and ripped everything away from him. Yes, you could say that SQX was never meant to have all that stuff to begin with, but is that suppose to make all the trauma he went through go away? Finding out everything has been a lie. His brother did a terribly corrupt thing and he benefited from something that hurt someone he cared about. Then he becomes a crippled beggar. Yeah he ends up seeming to make the best of it, but it doesn’t change how awful it is. So yeah, I could never get into that ship personally because those are things I can’t get past. (But no shade to beefleaf shippers. I appreciate your passion for your ship and a lot of the AUs you come up with <3 )

🤝🤝🤝 honestly im pretty sure when i finished reading tgcf i made a post that just said "wait THATS who beefleaf is??" bc i had heard about them before and had seen some art but when i read i just did not pick up on them at allllll i really did feel like i had missed something too... but yeah you said it all i pretty much feel the same way as you like ive seen cool art and AUs but tbh ive never seen anything that actually dealt with the extent and horror of what went down and i have nothing against the fashionable modern lesbian art i see on twitter but it just does not match up with how i read it at all. and even post canon i dont really see them reconciling and even being friends again like maybe they could be chill with each other but it would be much easier to avoid each other too and i really think its fine that way literally the trauma is too great for sqx to be friends with hx again imo and i mean if people want to write that post canon they could work it out with a lot of work thats cool but i honestly dont see the need for it im literally just here for the lesbian fanart and transgenderism of it all like the concept is cool and the potential for angst and internal conflict is off the charts but as far as how it actually goes in canon i just cant get into it 🤷‍♀️

Man once you watch the clone wars and care about characters like Aayla Secura and Plo Koon, and understand the bond the Jedi had with their troopers before the chips... watching the footage of Order 66 becomes just excruciatingly painful. Thanks Star Wars!

Anyway, I think that PTSD from the clone wars is touched but often not focused on in obikin, which is a shame. Brothers-in-arms is indeed one of the best things about the ship—I was brought to the ship by fanart of Anakin tending to Obi-Wan’s wounds in the style of Achilles tending to Patroclus, so it’s pretty fundamental to my understanding of their relationship.

One of my biggest frustrations with loving a children’s television show is that they show traumatic experiences and then never dip into the character’s processing of those events afterward. We don’t see the impact on the characters and it doesn’t seem to really impact their future decision making. I guess that’s what fic is for haha

I personally dipped into it with Unwrap, Wrap because it seemed to me that surely, SURELY, it would be traumatic to lead good men to be cut down by machines over and over and over. I know there are many war stories, idk how PTSD-related but they are about the war.. like With a Warm and Tender Hand or maybe Mud or Within Limits (it’s been awhile since since I read them but I remember they were war fic lol).

There are good post Order 66 stories, like A Mouthful of Ash that deal with PTSD. But you’re right that lots of the good good stuff with PTSD isn’t obikin tbh. There’s a series I love when Obi-Wan goes back in time and trains himself; the older version is very impacted by the events of the clone wars.

You said you dont demand that people stop shipping BurDa, you just want the ship to be seen more critically, which I believe (unless that has changed ofc) But I’m struggling to understand how this statement works with believing that it is inherently racist? Surely if that’s the case people should stop completely? Regardless of answer, thank you for Ur posts!

don’t worry about it! i’m sorry actually, i’m having trouble connecting concepts and putting thoughts together tonight, so this will probably be a little disjointed.

it’s kind of a complex subject! my purpose in making those disclaimers is to make my posts as accessible as possible to my audience, whoever that might be. to be clear, i’m NOT saying my way of doing things is right or the only right way or that people have to “be nice” about their opinions, this is just how i choose to go about this conversation. but i do want to be nice when i can (eg. i don’t make problems on random people’s burakhovsky posts* or talk about specific users i disagree with unless they have spoken directly to or about me or they’re big well known racists like threi), and i want to make it as easy as possible for well-meaning people to start thinking and talking more critically about things they like. i think that there are some people who have been able to learn something useful from my posts who wouldn’t have if i had said “if you like burakhovsky/burda, stop it or block me”. i would personally rather encourage people to think and talk about it critically, and i know it sucks to see even valid condemnations of the things you like so i want to remind people i’m not attacking them. i obviously don’t like that it’s shipped at all, but... point number 2:

i don’t feel comfortable saying that it Should Not Be Liked as a rule / demand / universal statement. a lot of things are inherently racist. most things are inherently racist. again, please don’t take what i say in this post as my assertions of how anyone else should be acting because this is my very specific and uncertain personal choice. i wouldn’t argue with someone who said everyone should stop, and i don’t argue with my mutuals who enjoy it critically. i’m pretty good at making connections between concepts (normally) but making moral or authoritative judgements about them is something i’m a lot less confident about, believe it or not. like, the ask i just got about the stamatins: i can tell you some things i find interesting about them, i could do some analysis that might make someone think about them in a new way, i can tell you they’re racist, but when asked how i feel about them or if it’s ok to like them i’m at a loss. i thought for a long time about “why it’s ok” for me to like maria and i’m still not completely confident in my answers. “is this racist?” “is this a harmful trope?” are different questions than “are its elements so racist and harmful that it can never be liked or engaged with without being part of the harm?” that is a complicated question with a lot of variables, and i am very fallible, and i don’t feel educated or experienced enough to tell you not to like something, period.

one of the reasons for this is i don’t know what’s going on in the heads of people who like it. i don’t know every single shipper’s heritage, experiences, conclusions, or reasoning. i never saw anything between them so i clearly don’t see what a lot of people see, and i don’t know how it’s handled when it is handled critically-- i don’t consume burakhovsky content when i can avoid it (i have it blacklisted on tumblr and don’t read fics) because it very easily can become upsetting for me due to my personal experiences. like tweets about me, i only find out what’s going on with burakhovsky content when friends or followers show it to me. and again, i don’t know how you think about it in your mind. my conclusion is that it is racist and harmful enough that i personally should not like or engage with it. when i ask people to think critically about it, i want them to come to their own conclusion on that matter for themselves, personally.

* where i draw the line and start getting assertive is when you create and publish content that is harmful. when you are creating content, even fan content, even analysis, it’s no longer a matter of “enjoying things”, it’s a matter of actions and decisions which can affect others. which is why i say racist tropes/themes in fanfiction and fanart and discussion should be addressed and why i really appreciate creators who make space for good faith criticism and acknowledge their fallibility. this is also where my footnote for the “not making a stink on other people’s posts” comes in-- as i’ve said before, if you see offensive content being made, you’re welcome to ask me to address it directly on your behalf. i appreciate all the people who have held me accountable throughout my life, even when sometimes it took me a while to come around.

i hope this made a little bit of sense! in conclusion it’s a matter of my intention in the posts i make, which is to start a conversation and offer a new perspective, a matter of establishing my respect for well-meaning people with lives and thoughts i don’t know, and a matter of the complexity of ethical judgements and my own insecurities about whether my feelings are right or good or real.
