a few weeks ago my friend came over totally unprompted and i was actually totally fine with it, because she’s just a super chill person and we’ve been friends for about a decade now

we ended up going to the mall and were gonna get food, but my mom told me to go order and pay for the panda express i wanted all on my own, which obviously made me freeze up

my friend:

- walked me over to the panda express

- helped me pick out what i wanted

- rehearsed a script with me for my order

- offered silent support while i put in the order and then paid

- said she was really “proud of me” and i’m “becoming more independent by the day”

i’ve shied away from independence essentially my entire life, i never went to stores to buy food by myself, went to the movies alone with my friends, ordered my own food, or basically did anything that a teenager is expected to be able to do

so this exchange with my friend was so, so, so, so heart warming 🩷🩵🩷 it made me feel encouraged to continue with the road to independence, rather than feel disheartened and that i’m too far behind to fully catch up

so a lesson to allistics for autistic acceptance week — when your autistic friend doesn’t know how to do things you perceive as basic life skills, guide them, do not shun them

a work in progress of some doodles i did this week of @faruzan-official and @the-wanderer-official 👀 i am hoping to expand on the spiderverse concept more because it makes me SO happy and designing suits for them is so surprisingly fun (i already have some of another duo, so those might appear soon :D). i would also like to turn this into digital art at some point so we shall see!!
