Matty has always had a habit of getting into trouble, from being suspended for fighting to being arrested for breaking and entering, Matty knows what it’s like to be in a tight spot. But being chased down by an honest-to-god demon is a bit much, even for her.

It’s a good thing Matty has always been able to roll with the punches relatively well, because she’s pretty sure that any other person would have lost their mind when a boy appears out of the shadows to tell her that she’s a demigod. The boy seems extremely unwilling to explain anything to Matty, not even telling her his name before he drops her off at some random summer camp.

Thankfully, she meets Percy Jackson. A boy who seems to be going through the same thing as Matty — if not something worse. The two of them find a friend in each other, something Matty hasn’t exactly had for most of her life. So once the Gods decide to endanger Percy’s life, they unknowingly make an enemy out of Matty Ellis.

It’s a good thing she has her shadow boy to protect her, even if she doesn’t know it yet.

Frequently described as “unusual”, the name Hivallion is of the ancient and long-extinct Falathrin dialect of Sindarin. Thankfully Hivallion himself remains to recall that the Falathrin word hiválew once described an impressively-sized (and now similarly extirpated) seabird—similar in appearance and manner to our Wandering Albatross, the hiválew has not been seen anywhere in Middle-earth since the destruction of Beleriand. His first name combines this word with the common male suffix “iôn”; notably, he inherited the avian portion of his name from his mother (Hivalleth).

With so few Falathrim left in Middle-earth now, Hivallion is always glad to explain the meaning of his name to anyone who asks, as he feels it is a “precious scrap of proof” that such a creature once existed in the world.

If Hivallion has a second name or a Mother-name, it is not known to most others (if anyone else at all).

His best known after-name "Pellithorn" is also Falathrin and roughly translates to "Fading Secret", which is likely an oblique reference to his trade as a master of lore.

Sure have! #I forgot how long it takes for Chimera Falin to come into play. #I still really love my 'better drawn' art of her - unfortunately it was several weeks too early for the anime only folks. #Slowly getting the hang of drawing Laios. I don't know why I struggle so much but I am getting...somewhere. #Meta time: God damn I love how the chimera shows off the expertise and gap between Kabru and Laios. #The truth is: they are both *right* and they are both *wrong*. #This creature is a combination of monster and human and they only have the skillset to deal with one of those. #Kabru goes for all the human vitals - but she isn't human. #Laios tries to approach her as a monster and is struck down by the humanity he sees in her. #She is something new that defies what they *both* understand about the world. And that makes her such a perfect antagonist. #The damsel was the dragon all along! #...She is really so cute though. Terrifying! But adorable. I am so excited to see the boom of fanart for her.
