Happy Birthday David Chiem!
Usually, for these characters’ birthdays, I do a somewhat half-hearted attempt at a character analysis. But do you think I’m gonna do this for David? Hell no, he’s way too complicated for me to do something like that in this style of post! And I am not making a post that difficult right after that Mai thing.
So, instead, I’m just going to list a few fun facts, because that’s easier. Hope you like it anyways!
(By the way, I’ve always loved that frame of the MV so, so much)
-His birthday lands on “National Book Lovers’ Day”, which says National but is recognized globally. Considering the MV, I’d say that fits. It also coincides with the Annual Perseid Meteor Shower Peak Night, Co-working Day (hah, as if), and get ready, “Hold Hands Day”.
-His profile states he likes ready-make oatmeal. According to the recent Q&A, he can cook, he just prefers not to. This actually fits with quite a few scenes in the series where it’s implied he prefers not to get out of bed unless necessary (mood), such as his brief outburst in the introduction and the several times he’s shown not to eat with anyone else. Though maybe that’s actually caused by him hating people.
-He dislikes expensive things. Kinda based.
-He does TEDTalks, and that’s presumably where he gets his talent from.
-As he stated himself, he has pretty bad bed hair. And apparently, he can summon it at will, as seen in Ch 2 Ep 11.
-His pupils seem to turn into stars whenever he… smiles or puts on a positive attitude? It doesn’t seem to follow a strict logic other than “whenever it looks cool”.
-He has an older sister named Diana. Or, well, that’s what he claims. Footnote 11 of you-know-what may imply she never actually existed. It’s unclear what this means at the moment.
-He seemed to genuinely like Xander, and wanted to be friends with him, as he’d value that relationship more than Xander’s idolatry.
-The secret quote in his page is "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. I wish you could just die." How nice! This is either talking to himself, or presumably something he'll say to Teruko since their characters do be foiling.
-The quote on Mai's page attached to him is "She forgives everyone." It's the second to last line in the script, before MonoTV's. I have to physically restrain myself from theorizing.
-Some stuff from the Q&As:
*He usually wears semi-formal, 'professional' clothes.
*His blue hair is actually fully natural.
*This is the default sprite for his fuckboy persona:
... But, like, why though. Why's he so sassy.
*Bisexual with a strong female lean. Diversity win! The biggest liar you know is bisexual!
*His favorite color is gamboge (the yellow of his star pupils), stating it’s inspiring; while his least favorite is gray, stating it’s depressing. This could imply he actually likes the cheerier persona he usually puts on more than his real self, or the villainous persona he plays in the trial.
*He handles his feelings badly. We been knew.
*His hair clips were his manager’s idea, to build brand recognition. Apparently David doesn’t like this manager too much, but he puts up with them for the contract. Also, when he takes off his hair clips in the trial, he places them in his PANT POCKETS.
*I’m sure you’ve realized this, but you remember that section of the Q&A where the dev gives details about the family members we had known about from the series (Elliot Cuevas, Felicity Giles, Fuyuko and Natsuko Naegishi, Ryan Moreno/Rosales)? Diana Chiem isn’t mentioned, perhaps further hinting at her non-existence.
*He has an average amount of strength.
*His favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio, because of course it’s pistachio.
*He smells like men’s cologne, but only faintly. Hope you’re happy with that answer, you weirdos (/affectionate).
*He’s American, like everyone else except maybe Teruko.

Is there any lore or backstory about the island and characters?!? ( if not that’s okay :•] ) I visit your island every couple months it’s just so fun!!!

Fun fact, I originally wanted it to be a comic and then realized that my drawing skills were....subpar, so acnh island it became instead!
So some story lore below the cut!!!
(TW for some medical trauma involving kids, derealization, and general weird stuff)
So the main character is Tommy! He's depicted as a young boy (roughly around 8 in this version of pigeonhole) he wakes up in a dreamlike version of his town, pigeonhole. He's greeted by his little sister marble* (5) who tells them to leave immediately because it's "not his time yet", pigeonhole is pretty much like purgatory for Tommy and they are actually in a coma in real life due to a near fatal car accident involving a neighbor Tommy knows** and must wake up before the get too far into this "dream" of pigeonhole. Marble acts as a guide to help them return to the real world, as there are forces trying to make Tommy succumb to the dream and stay here forever (essentially dying in the real world)
Um that's it for like background plot? Like I said it was gonna be a comic in my head but because I can't draw...that's as far as I've gotten with it.
Tommy is actually 13 in reality and Maribel/marble is 10 but in this dream version Tommy has regressed to about 8 because he was that age when they first moved to this town.
All of the villagers are supposed to be weird versions of people Tommy knows in reality.
All of the locations on the island are tied to specific memories from Tommy and is why the are important enough to manifest in pigeonhole (his mother works at the post office at the entrance of the island, stuff like that)
**this explains all of the medical equipment scattered around the island and the scary junkyard owned by Roscoe
*Marble greets him here because she's kinda like an amalgamation of a character from his favorite video game and his little sister in real life (her name is actually Maribel)
Some bonus Tommy character traits:
He HATES wearing shoes and socks so in dream pigeonhole he'll never have any
Their favorite color is yellow
His favorite food is beef stew
They are always wearing a cute sweater because his mom used to make them for him because he gets cold very easily (this is just a real trait of mine because I'm cold all the time)
They're terrified of robots
Also if it had been a comic it definitely would have had a happy ending!! Tommy would have successfully escaped pigeonhole and fully healed from the car accident!!

6. Ice skating
Winters in New York were always your favorite. The snow seemed to clean the mucky streets for a brief moment and the nights seemed less dark.
Noises were blunted and the hustle and bustle of the city were muted for a short moment. Growing up in the midwest you were accustomed to the ups and downs of winter weather and had assumed all who resided in a winter wonderland once a year were the same.
Turns out you were wrong. You caught sight of Billy getting out of his towncar, nearly losing his footing on a patch of black ice. Hand shooting out with immaculate skill to grip the car door.
You don't know how he heard your chuckle from so far away but his dark eyes laser focused on you once he was standing upright again.
"Why did you ask to meet here?" He huffed walking over towards you. Hundred, no, thousands of people milled around you. Some carrying large parcels and bags from their shopping.
"Because we're gonna do a New York Holiday staple." You grinned grasping his hands in yours. His look of frustration melted away replaced by a warm look of affection seeing you so excited.
You gestured to the Rockefeller skating rink before you, the large Christmas tree lit up just as darkness had fallen.
The kind smile on his face turned downwards immediately.
"No."
"Ohhh-yes"
Hid brows drew together fixing you with a look of disaproval.
"I don't skate." You stepped back, tugging him along with you in the direction of the ice skating rental booth.
"Well I do." He dug his heels in, larger frame stopping you in your tracks. You turned back, sticking out your lower lip and putting on your best large eyed pleading look. "Please"
His glare lasted only a second longer before he sighed, shoulders drooping. That look always worked. Always.
A few moments later you were skating at full speed, weaving in and out of fellow skaters smiling as the cold air bit at your face. You had circled the rink completely before you arrived back at Billy's side.
Billy who, grand CEO that he was, was clinging to the wall, barely having moved a foot.
"You know I hate this right?" He gritted through his clenched teeth, holding onto the wall for dear life. You giggled, skating in front of him and holding out your hands.
"Come one Mr. Russo." You gave him your best shit-eating grin. He growled at you, half playfully half serious before gingerly taking one of your hands.
He moved slowly, feet almost slipping out from under him as he grabbed your other hand as well. You gently skated backwards holding his hands as he left the wall.
A flash of concern as his feet realized they were moving and his hands were out of reach from the protective barrier, then it faded as he began to move, following your lead.
Forward left, forward right, then again. Soon your movements were matching up as you both began to circle the rink keeping a steady pace.
As you passed by the Christmas tree both your figures illuminated in a wonderous array of colors Billy actually smiled.
Mind not fixating on the movements of his feet instead his full attention on you once more. You felt warmth bloom in your chest, watching him actually beginning to enjoy skating.
You'd completely rounded the rink and began to slow down by the entrance, but felt something push into you from behind.
A group of young kids had pushed their way onto the rink moving at a fast clip and once fully bumped into your side sending you sprawling down to the hard ice.
Billy, bless his heart hadn't let go of your hands, attempting to save you from your crash but instead you only managed to drag him down with you.
Both ending up in a heap on the ice, laughing until your cheeks hurt.
"Well that's not what I had planned." You managed to get out between hiccups of laughter. Billy's warm body still hovering over you protectively as skaters passed by.
This time he was the one who managed to be up first, gripping the trusty wall and hoisting you back to standing position.
"My hero." You chuckled, grinning as you leaned forward your lips meeting his in a soft caress that quickly began to turn more heated. "Careful you might melt the ice."
He took your hand, squeezing it firmly in his own as he scanned the rink once more.
"Let's go around once more."
"Are you actually having fun?"
He smiled back at you.
"Yes...and I also want to knock down those kids on your behalf."

Poor Unfourtunate Souls:
“You know, nothing you can do to me will make me talk,” the vet drawled, hiding apprehension under snark.
look. look. opening a scene where legend is snarky at first, but we all know it’s a front and then it crumbles so fast- that makes me go feral, I will never get tired of writing it.
Legend scowled, thinking hard about what would be safe to say without being an obvious lie. “One has a huge, ferocious wolf that follows him around everywhere. Could maul you in a heartbeat, but obeys every command from him. Another hates mirrors. Show him his reflection and he’ll be depressed for a week. Oh, and one guy? Pillows, blankets, anything soft and cuddly.”
just one of those little things i was so proud of thinking of :) it’s so fun to write hints that the readers but not the characters will understand.
“You want the truth?” Legend asked, and the blademaster inclined his head. “I don’t know. I’ve been locked up in here for ages, they could be anywhere by now.”
that moment when he realizes that he’s not getting anywhere by being funny and he takes the risk of telling the truth but it’s not enough-
Now that they finally, finally, had a safe and quiet moment, Legend took the time to actually inspect Four. The smith’s breathing was ragged and wet, and Legend prayed that his lungs were free of water. Liquid dribbled from Four’s mouth, nose, and eyes; water and bodily fluids combining into one sticky mess. The tips of his hair were damp, and the feather which usually swayed from his ear was now heavy and still. His broken wrist was clutched to his chest with his other hand to reduce agitation.
if i knew how to render i would draw this in a heartbeat. gonna go cry over the poor thing instead :(
Four’s eyes were wide, swirling with blue and red, but then he narrowed them and nodded determinedly.
foreshadowing for the eventual sequel!! right now vio and green are in shock so the most emotional colors are stuck in the front. red is still terrified and blue is too, but the latter is trying his hardest to direct his anger at the yiga instead of focusing on their own feelings.
Four’s mouth opened in a silent scream, lungs too weak to produce anything but a high, wispy whine.
there's definitely going to be some lasting physical effects too, he just practically drowned three times for goddess' sake.

Trust Fall:
starting with the title this time since i already talked about the other one! this was a stand-in title that i immediately fell in love with. it represents the actual trust fall that legend shares with warriors, letting him administer the sedative. it also makes me think about how close legend was to falling (unconscious), without being able to rely on trust. if warriors hadn’t gotten there just in time, this would be a very different story.
They held him in place as he watched the remaining medic draw up a sedative in… in a…
this isn’t the only time this happens; I try to show how even thinking certain words is a big trigger for legend. even in his own mind, he can’t bring himself to fully acknowledge what’s happening.
He knew that it was worse to look but he couldn’t make himself look away and Warriors would tell him to stop but Legend was alone and scared and-
here’s a writing tip! run-on sentences are very good for when you want to portray that your character is spiraling into a panic. shorter sentences work for a character who can barely think because their panic is more of the hyperventilating kind.
Then the captain spoke, and Legend realized that he was furious. His tone cold and commanding as he ordered the other soldiers to “Release him. Now.”
“B-but sir,” the soldier on Legend’s right said, “He’s highly dangerous and violent.”
“So am I,” Warriors hissed. “Hands. Off.”
*obligatory pause for the screaming fangirls*
He let out a ragged sob, and let Warriors pull him into a loose embrace.
in hanging by a thread, warriors asked hyrule to hold legend because hyrule is more comfortable with touch. warriors is able and willing to provide physical comfort if there's no other option, and he doesn't hesitate for a moment this time. anything to help his brother feel safe.
While Legend did that, Warriors looked over his shoulder at the confused medic. “Put that away,” he whispered, nodding at the syringe in their hand.

Legend heard a few soft clicks as they capped the needle and hid the syringe in a drawer.
this is the first time that legend actually acknowledges the fact that the medic is wielding a syringe. warriors' presence helps him face his fears even the tiniest bit.
He could do this. He was still injured for goddess’ sake.
fun fact i spent so long trying to figure out what injury he should have before deciding that it isn't plot-relevant enough to bother wasting my time on it.
If Warriors asked if he was ready, Legend didn’t think that he would say yes.
Warriors gently loosened Legend’s hands and held them in his own. “Come with me,” he said, pulling Legend up to stand with him.
warriors knows. he knows that asking would make things worse, so he just takes things into his own hands. he's exactly who legend needs right now.
Legend heard the rustle of fabric as Warriors awkwardly unclipped his scarf. He fumbled to undo the clasp with only one hand; the other was holding something.
we're back to treating the syringe as an unspoken thing... legend's fear has returned in full force and not even warriors can comfort him enough.
“I’ll be fast. Just a few moments, then you can rest.” The cadence of Warriors’ voice was steady, almost unnaturally so.
this isn't easy for warriors either. he hates that he has to do this again, but he can't let legend know that. maybe i'll mess around with a warriors pov someday...

3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
I mean obviously there are a lot of Vikings ones that I disagree with... that's boring (also I fought those fights in real time and now I'm over it lol). I'm gonna commit to choosing violence and pick the last jedi.
The take on Rose as being someone who abused Finn and was a terrible person the film was trying to "pretend" was a good person. It was essentially this long post about how Rose's initial introduction marked her as a terrible person who abused Finn and the end of the film was terrible for shipping Finn with his abuser. It's one I hated very much and its one I dislike all the more because I do agree with some of the points made even as I really disagree with the conclusion (and one glaring implication that we will get to).
Because here's the thing, even as a TLJ fan I agree with a lot of the criticism TLJ gets, including and actually especially about Finn's arc within that film. I like the overall idea and some beats, but I think that there was a lot that the film missed out on by having Rose operate as "teacher" rather than having them both share their experiences and allowing Finn to come to his realizations a little differently. And I would go further because I could choose violence on this subject too but actually let me get back to the topic at hand...
Back to the terrible Rose takes, I think the reason it galled me so much is because while people were very correctly discussing the issues surrounding Disney's racism and the films treatment of Finn (and John Boyega).... at the same time their arguments about Rose often had... implications that I found very uncomfortable.
Because the thing is... Rose's intro... that people found abusive... it's a parallel to Rey's first meeting with Finn. This woman sees him, makes an incorrect (but reasonable) assumption based on the info she has on hand that this guy needs to be taken down, and takes him down. Then, after he explains, she realizes what is actually going on, helps him, and then they work together. Rey is violent towards Finn in her first meeting with him too. But with her it's a cute rom-com right, with her it's a sign of how much she's fiery? Like I think people fully had a blindspot to the disparity of their treatment of Rey vs Rose.
And part of the reason I think it's so bad is because it didn't have to be like this! I think you absolutely can critique the films and Rey and Rose as characters... you can very easily criticize the decision to treat Finn like this. So it's disappointing to me I guess, that people chose to, at the same time, kind of join in on the racist pile-on that Rose (and KMT) was getting. Like she was getting it from all corners of the internet... but what else is new for actors of color I guess.
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Switching gears and moving to a fandom nobody but me cares about: Psych. I cannot believe Shawn x Gus (Shus) is not more popular than Shawn x Lassiter. I mean, I can believe it because people are often wrong. But come on! Shawn and Gus would DIE for each other, Gus claims Shawn on his taxes, Shawn and Gus practically have a secret language! They literally joined a dating show for a case and the girl revealed that she couldn't really separate them because they were so close. I mean, keep in mind they are Holmes and Watson... and yet people basically ignored them.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
I'm gonna be honest, my thing here... it's pretty much for fandoms that I am not a part of.... Basically when like hugely popular tv shows are popular on tumblr and people are complaining about fandom trends (everybody likes X, Y is so prevalent, everyone ignores this ship). I want to be clear, I think you should always criticize things like racism, homophobia, misogyny, ableism... those things will run rampant in a lot of fandoms, because they run rampant in society at large, those aren't trends, they're not what I'm talking about. But like if your fandom is big enough that you can create an entire subculture around character B even though character A is more popular in the "main stream", I think you shouldn't take that for granted. Your sub culture has sub cultures, that's not nothing, a lot of fandoms aren't that big and can't sustain that. Lol, this might be me being upset and petty, I feel like none of my fandoms are big enough to even get to that point. No sub-sub culture for me!

So a little story from me because I feel really impacted on your topics regarding POC so I wanted to share this with you because I feel more comfortable telling you about this.
So I had a friend who was black-american who was really, really bullied alot because of his skin when he used to live in America, he's been my best bud for years ever since he came to the Philippines a year ago and honestly he is literally one if not the most important person in my life, he's an amazing person who is kind, smart, and so generous and loving I sometimes couldn't believe I was friend with a great guy like that.
His impact on my life made me push for my goals, he made me feel safe when I'm at my lowest, and he always sticks up for me whenever someone was being an asshole to me. (Pardon my language)
So being friends with an amazing guy, this amazing person who became so important to me for just a year of friendship, made me feel so afraid for him when I found him scrubbing his skin so raw the skin was starting peel and bits of blood came out. I remembered how I grabbed the scrub and threw away and helped him calm down and just making sure he's okay, I was heart broken when he kept telling me to leave him alone and keep trying to scrub himself raw.
I was utterly terrified, devastated and so, so sad at how he hated himself, how he said that he didn't like the color of his skin, he didn't like how he was born black and that being black was what was wrong with him. He told me stories of how he was bullied before but my heart literally broke when I realize those assholes actually convinced him, manipulated him into thinking that him being black, him having a dark skin tone that everyone always describe just to be factual or polite to POC, is the problem.
I was so, so, so furious that these awful people manipulated my best friend, my best friend whose a one in a million, whose so important to me, Into hating himself. I spent that entire night at his side being there for him, talking to him, supporting him at that low moment where he felt awful and self-loathing to himself.
That was a year ago during new years, and honestly one of the most heart wrenching night of my life, Now I spent my time being the friend he deserves, I made sure he always knows he's loved, cared for, and him being himself is not the problem. I will spend the rest of my life telling this person I love everything about him, from his skin to his smile to his personality and more, I'm gonna keep reminding him that I got his back and can always count in me.
This guy, my best friend means so much to me, bookish. And I'm so lucky to have an amazing person in my life, and I'm going to work hard to always make sure he knows I love him and his entire being.
Also I'm so sorry for just dumping this one you 😭😭😭, A lot of your posts pulled my heart strings so much and impacted me so hard. A lot of them made me cry because of how true they are. And honestly a lot made me cry and sob and I got so emotional I just had to write this. Again I'm so, so, sorry for dumping this story unto you 😭😭
But I would like to thank you for being such an inspiration to me and to my friends, my best friend always loves your posts whenever we scour Tumblr. Your an amazing person bookish and I wish you best days and regards.

Nonny this ask really hurt but it fully encapsulates why it's so important to me that we keep talking about things like this. Why we talk about racism and colorism and whitewashing, because of how absolutely insidious and deeply rooted they become in our psyche. It's wonderful that you're such a supportive friend to him, and I'm sure your friendship helps--but the nature of internalized racism is how deeply rooted it is due to systemic racism, and its an insidious plague that takes years of self-love to unlearn (if ever). When I was a little girl I prayed to God that I would wake up white and "pretty." The self-hatred that's instilled in POC and especially in Black people for our race and our skin tone in particular, believing that our skin makes us incapable of being attractive or that having darker skin than white people and nonblacks makes us "dirtier" than other races of people (something I heard a lot of attending a mostly white school in American suburbia--), takes YEARS to overcome. THAT is why representation matters. THAT is why more diversity on screen and in books is a good thing. And THAT is why we must have these conversations about racism and colorism and whitewashing, no matter how uncomfortable it makes people. I'm glad my posts were able to resonate with you <3

Happy Birthday Dork
Yep! Today's my birthday! This gal right here is turning 16! (Now time to change my age in all my bios💀💀)
And i decided to draw these two gals. Now of yall weren't following me back in 2020 on insta, then yeah, you have no context to who these two are
The blond one is well, Cake, my oc/persona, and the ginger one is Brooke, an oc thag belongs to @/ molzysketch on Instagram. I wont go into full detail, but we basically ship these two. We made them during the fall of danplan, Brooke was supposed to be Ann for molzy's pirate au. A group chat was made to make theories of what would happen on the next part of the au, but the next day the fall happened. After the fall we revamped them as ocs tho, and everyone in the group made their own ocs and we role played with them
I'll add the version with no text under the cut, plus bonus info and ramblings boyt my art :>
This all are kinda redesigns of them really. Brooke was redesigned by her own creator molzy of course, but i worked on the colors by the end 😌
On another note tho! To make this drawing an even better birthday gift to myself, in the middle of doing this i realized how similar it was to an old drawing of these 2
This one was from July 2020, it was the last time i did a proper drawing of them in their pirate self
But honestly, looking back the old drawing i did of them, god am i happy with my progress. You can see they actually grew up too, the old one looks more soft, childish and now they seem to have grown up! It's more mature, has more personality to it, to the characters!
I'll keep it short, but basically, I'm happy with how my art and the characters grew. They actually feel like pirates, and Cake feels like how i wanted them to feel, and Brooke now actually seems like Brooke and not a revamp of Ann. Which props to Molly for that!
Also, i tried out a new shading technique here, which i love! But hate it just as much, bc of how many layers i had to use, and how slow it gets when you leave or come back to the drawing 💀
Also really time consuming, but it's worth it bc it looks epic. And honestly it's way more fun, with how free i am with it and messy i can get with it
And yeah, the similarities between this snd the 2020 one, it was PURE coincidence. I started to work on this mostly testing out a technique i saw on a reels and it turned out great, the bodies, didn't know who to use it with. After a while decided to use Brooke and Cake, was gonna draw Brooke holding cake, but the body better fit Cake so i did them instead. And only when i was sketching Cake out did i realise it

hello! i am starting this blog mainly for art- i predict about 90% of it will be reblogged art, usually of animals or video game stuff. i'll also be sharing my own art and talking about video game stuff occasionally, mainly my genshin impact challenge runs. yes runs plural. i have 3 currently, alongside my main account. more about them under the cut further below.
my current art style is just space with planets. mildly cartoony i think? def not realistic, but i think it's pretty (im a sucker for space, though i'd be terrified to actually go up in a space ship or anything- im content to admire from afar lol).
planning to share art on a MWF schedule- i can make the space art p quick and easily, so i need some sort of limiter so i don't burn myself out, while also practicing sticking to a schedule and also just doing art more frequently- im extremely rusty atm. hoping getting into the habit of drawing more often will shake off the rust and bolster my confidence.
i also like to use free stock photos as a sort of cut-out guide to make animal shapes out of space. it's fun and pretty painless- im used to spending hours getting angry at myself for not being able to free-hand anatomy, to the extent i stopped drawing for i think about two years now? cause i just hated everything i tried to make. rn i just wanna get used to drawing again without getting so angry with myself, and then slowly work on free-handing again.
oh, and! if you're doing a genshin challenge run, feel free to ramble to me about it! i love genshin challenge runs- i've got several im keeping tabs of on yt, and several more i wanna catch up on. aand question- what's your pulling plans for this upcoming patch?
on my main, im at i think 53 pity on 50/50, gonna try to pull xianyun. my most hoped for result- lose 50/50 to tighnari (or jean, ill take jean too), then spend a few 10 pull to get xianyun while getting faruzan and noelle to c6. overly hopeful maybe! i'd also be happy to win 50/50 too, of course. not getting the 4 stars c6 would sting a little, but it's more primos for future banners (already have nahida so once i get xianyun im done pulling).
challenge run #1 is a standard banner only account. it's the furthest along by a long shot, having been started several months ago, but bc it's a more casual account, im thinking it'll get overtaken fast. currently post act 1 of inazuma, with level 60 characters, almost ready to upgrade them to 70.
originally planned to not pull at all til i got all the free characters up to 90 and fully built, and then had a realization that was kinda incompatible with how i was playing- there just keep being more and more free characters, and it's a slow paced account that im mostly using to replay story stuff when i feel like. so now i just do pulls whenever.
i feel like the game mildly punished me for that decision, bc out of 200+ pulls, i got. 3 5 star weapons and a diluc (who im not really interested in playing atm, though i DID get wolf's gravestone. so im on the fence). and then a little while ago, i got qiqi. i had been really, really hoping for tighnari, or at least. pretty much anyone else? keqing, jean, and dehya i'd have been fine with. don't really want mona, so i'll probably end up getting her next. or another weapon :P
next is dark hair only, where yeah. i only play characters with dark hair. i just started less than a week ago now, so very young account. i judge who has dark hair using medibang's color picker on the character' hair in their icon (ignoring shadows and highlights), since it's neutral lighting. any character who stays generally at or under 100 value counts as dark haired.
some characters were hard to judge bc gradients- shout-out to mona for being a weird edgecase- the purples in her hair are definitely too light, and most of her roots are in shadow or covered, so it's hard to get a good read. i'm thinking she will count though- if for no other reason than, there's literally only 13 other characters that count currently.
all who are currently allowed in dark hair only- amber (this one caught me off-guard ngl), beidou, dehya, kaeya, mona, tighnari, venti, wanderer, wriothesley, xiao, xinyan, yelan, yun jin, and zhongli. surprisingly, raiden shogun, xiangling, and kujou sara don't actually make the cut-off- they're all generally just a little bit above 100.
xianyun and gaming's icons aren't officially released yet, so while i expect they'll make the cut-off, im still not gonna count them quite yet.
last account, which i finally got going yesterday, is signature weapons only. simple enough for most of the limited 5 stars- and with xiao coming up, this is the best time to start, since PJWS is also a standard banner weapon. ganyu's also a must-pull for this account for similar reasons.
as far as four stars and five stars without signature weapons, my first thought was "whichever weapon they used in their character miscellany". and then i actually checked, and dear mercy, there is. 0 synergy with the weapons they chose for so many of them. i still haven't gotten over EM layla. it would be a severe power discrepency- 5 stars get a weapon that bolsters their abilities, while 4 stars often get a stat stick at best.
so im kinda at square one with them now. my next thought is just, scrub through the character miscellany, record all the weapons a given character uses, and then those are the weapons available to that character. repeat for the next character. which could give them much more flexibility. that's gonna take hours though, so ive been putting it off lol.
could also just keep it simple and say, if a character has a signature they HAVE to use it, if not, then whatever. or put a rule that i have to pick 1 weapon per 4 star, and they can't be shared (ie yun jin and yaoyao can't both have fav spear), with shuffling allowed when new weapons come. dunno, ill think on it some more while exploring new region on my main ;P
oh, and general rule for all accounts- trial characters and traveler are allowed for solving puzzles, if necessary, just not for combat. will try to avoid when possible of course.

hello! im not usually active on here (i use twitter more) but i stumbled on your asks while scrolling through my feed and after reading some, i realized that we have the same stance on chapter two. when it was announced that each member would be releasing their own solo album, i was super excited. ive loved everything each member has put out before including collabs and their songs on soundcloud so, of course, i was excited to see what this chapter had to bring! looking back, i have no idea how my feelings abt this changed so much.
it was definitely after face that i started to get a bit tired with all the releases but i still streamed and kept up with all the content because i truly do love all their solo works and wanna give all seven members my full support. i was definitely a bit overstimulated with how much individual content we were getting, which could be why i started to feel these things, but ive always shown my support.
although im vmin biased and adore the layover album with my whole heart, i definitely think layover era was definitely my breaking point. twitter has become so insufferable and has just created a space so negative that its hard to even enjoy anything. i was so excited for layover but everytime i would go on twitter, solo stans would be tweeting nonsense and comparing numbers and its just all too much. this has been a problem ever since chapter two started but i never saw how bad it was until now and its honestly heartbreaking. i miss when there was no division between the members and everyone was supported equally among the fandom. ive spent a lot of time on twitter and would just block solo stans and call it a day but its come to the point where its impossible to just block and ignore bc theres way too many! chapter two has definitely fueled their narratives and given them more confidence for some reason but i truly hope theyre gone when 2025 comes around.
even some fans have started acting like solo stans but hide behind the fact that theyre heavily biased. theres clearly a difference in how armys treat the members and it definitely shows more with how they treated each solo release which is just disappointing. i understand people have different music tastes but would it hurt to act excited for a member that you supposedly love?
ive never noticed this before but this chapter definitely showed some armys true colors. this chapter also did an amazing job of fueling solo stans and their narrative that their favorite could go solo and leave bts behind, which is completely untrue and none of the members would actually want that. because of this, twitter has become such an uncomfortable space and has definitely made me less excited abt future solo works which ive never thought would happen since i love new bts music.
im definitely gonna take a break from twitter until jin comes back but for now, i really do wish i was able to enjoy chapter two without such negative feelings. i was truly very excited but looking back, i see how rushed everything was and although im glad each member was able to shine in their own way and explore with different genres, sometimes i wish this chapter took a different approach or just never happened. im hoping this feeling goes away when bts are fully seven again but i dont know. i just felt the need to let that out since ive been feeling this way for so long that i started to feel guilty bc ive never had such negative feelings towards bts before.
and of course, this is no hate to bts! i love my boys and have gone all out for all solo releases. im more just ranting abt army twitter and how they kinda ruined this experience for me which isnt the boys faults at all.
Your feelings are valid! You don't need to feel only positive things about people you love. Think about the people you love most that you know personally. Have you never been disappointed in them, with or without reason? Have you never been irritated by them, irrationally or righteously? Have you never wanted distance from them, because you wanted space or because you were upset with them? People only have these kind of unrealistic expectations about love when it comes to their favorite celebrity. Having mixed feelings about people you're close to, or even love, is just life.
Fandom is a large part of being Army - I mean, it's right there in the name -, of course bad fandom experiences can "turn you off" from the group. Before this blog actually started to resonate with some people, I wanted to delete it and hated myself every time I posted because I felt that all I did was spread hate - even when it was more political and not really about BTS themselves. I felt so alone and it was hard being a fan. Then, because of my Jikook and Jungkook posts, more people started following me and interacting with me - for example, sending me asks like this - and everything changed. Now I know that if I don't like something, I can share it, and someone will most likely feel the same way. It makes a world of difference...
I don't think I was ever that excited about chapter 2 tbh. And, unlike you, I definitely was disappointed by most releases. Most of it grew on me over time though, and I genuinely appreciate everything BTS has accomplished in chapter 2. I had so many mixed feelings about Jungkook, and still regularly get annoyed and disappointed, but when I see everything he's been able to achieve... like having the fourth most streamed song on Spotify this year??? With 3 months of tracking? Being the first Asian act ever in the top 5?? That's crazy. His music is so loved, and he's done so many cool things... I wouldn't trade solo era for anything. I really believe they needed this. There was always so much talk about BTS having no individual branding, and everyone wondered how well they would do solo - I'm sure BTS themselves had these thoughts about how they'd manage on their own - and now we/they know. They did great!
Obviously, chapter 2 made solos worse and fueled petty competition between the members, but I don't think it was that bad? These issues have always existed in the fandom and I don't believe chapter 2 made things that much worse. I still see so much support for OT7...
Honestly, I'm OT7 but I love Jungkook way more than the other members... I only streamed for Jungkook because otherwise I didn't have the motivation to stream songs I didn't want to listen to that many times. I think it's impossible to expect everyone to have the same energy towards every member. I listened to every song and album in chapter 2, and watched most of the performances, but with so much content, I couldn't be bothered to keep up with most of it. I have, like, 10 Jungkook lives as well as radio interviews and other videos of Jungkook to watch still.
Another point, I think it's easy to get caught up in fandom battles. I found myself pitting JK against Jimin, for example, because I saw so much of it and maybe I'm naturally competitive? You just get sucked into the bullshit as well. Even if you're not a crazy toxic fan, Twitter can change you.
Sadly, solos will still be around in 2025, and a lot of them will still be crying out over mistreatment and other bullshit. Now the members have "legitimate" solo stans too - ie. people who became fans during solo era and didn't bother checking out, or liked, the other members.
There was definitely so much content that it was overwhelming, but that's BTS tbh. I've just been a fan since 2019, but I was only not overwhelmed with content in, maybe, 2022?
This post kinda got away from me, but, yeah, take a break from Twitter, don't feel bad for feeling tired and overwhelmed with all the content (what Army isn't tbh), and my ask box is open anytime you want to vent!

it’s hilarious to me when people call historical fashions that men hated oppressive
like in BuzzFeed’s Women Wear Hoop Skirts For A Day While Being Exaggeratedly Bad At Doing Everything In Them video, one woman comments that she’s being “oppressed by the patriarchy.” if you’ve read anything Victorian man ever said about hoop skirts, you know that’s pretty much the exact opposite of the truth
thing is, hoop skirts evolved as liberating garment for women. before them, to achieve roughly conical skirt fullness, they had to wear many layers of petticoats (some stiffened with horsehair braid or other kinds of cord). the cage crinoline made their outfits instantly lighter and easier to move in
it also enabled skirts to get waaaaay bigger. and, as you see in the late 1860s, 1870s, and mid-late 1880s, to take on even less natural shapes. we jokingly call bustles fake butts, but trust me- nobody saw them that way. it was just skirts doing weird, exciting Skirt Things that women had tons of fun with
men, obviously, loathed the whole affair

hoops and bustles weren’t tools of the patriarchy. they were items 1 and 2 on the 19th century’s “Fashion Trends Women Love That Men Hate” lists, with bonus built-in personal space enforcement
