ok so listen. tears of the kingdom happens near the end of (one of) the Zelda timelines, right? and Zelda was born into the royal family, raised as such, so she had to have been educated in her own reincarnation history AND the history of the other triforce holders! this is how they identified link as the hero of time, right?

so how the hell does she meet GANONDORF, ONLY MALE TO BE BORN TO THE GERUDO IN 100 YEARS, and be like "hm. there's something not right about that man. his name gives me pause..."

like??? OF COURSE IT DOES!! that's literally the same guy from the history books!!

so there's one possible explanation for this.

-not every male gerudo named Ganondorf has been a bad guy. IF the triforce holders have been reincarnating for at least 10,000 years, and the existing LOZ games only cover a fraction of that time, then there were many centuries in which the male gerudo was just a normal, everyday guy.

so imagine if you will, the gerudo announce that a male child has been born to them. the existing Hyrulean royalty very cautiously accept the invite to see this baby.

everyone is gathered around the crib, and the King (and Zelda, in some cycles where she is born before Ganondorf) are like "awww how cute, congratulations, what a precious baby boy--"

and Zelda very discreetly pulls a suspiciously triforce-shaped baby toy out of her pocket and dangles it in front of this infant while whispering furiously, "do you want this? HUH? YOU WANT THE TRIFORCE, YOU TINY DEMON KING?"

and the baby is like :0 and the gerudo mom who is just barely recovering her six pack goes "please leave my infant son alone" and the Hyrulean family excuses themselves and apologizes and leaves.

The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. People are self-censoring sex to seggs and $3× but every other ad you see is still filled with half-naked women. Rightwingers want queer people arrested for so much as existing in the same postal code as a child and are also drumming up a moral panic about how teenage boys aren't getting laid enough. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

All respect, that's an important concept, but that is not what I am thinking about when I read 'grieving the undead'.
