Listen. Probably my favorite thing about The Terror is that because the story is one planned out season, the arcs and parallel scenes are set up so cleanly and nicely that it echos.
#listen. i safely traveled the 1st leg of my vacation journey and now im gonna rant abt the terror a sec bc god#i just want to line up all the parallel scenes bc theyre so good in my brain. i love it so much. even my dumbass can see what theyre doing#i dont have a good media analysis brain. i was in and English class full of other stem kids in college who got shouted at for mineing books#like we were looking for data and not going for the meaning lol. but ive watched thr show so many times. so many times and yet reading the#scripts is even better bc it makes it even more clear what theyre doing in each scene. i love it#im just gonna list scenes i remember that echo back. obv the more than god loves them via james as a parallel and an arc for francis. silna#y do u want to die. James god wants u to live. hicky bitching abt the dog thrn the crew bitching abt the dog. james assuring john abt his#being given command. francis reassuring james abt being given command. irving god sees u here more than anywhere. goodsir is god here? any#god? goodsir talking abt the radience when ppl die. goodsir hearing the angles as he dies. theres more but those r at the top of my head#i just wanna line them all up and stare at them. god. do i try to learn video editing for that? with what fucking time? but then i could#force my observations on other ppl in a way thats satisfying lol. maybe. id also want all the lines that echo constantly in my head edited#together. also. reading thr scripts they r obviously writing the apathy of god into the story. the sundog is a portentous celestial eye lol#im gonna have to write out my thoughts on god in the terror. whether or not i make a video. but the thumbnail would b Crozier staring at#the sundogs. i just have zero video editing skills and also zero time when im working lol. ugh but this idea is like a maligned tumor in#my head. and i must satisfy its demands. also just watch the terror. i beg of u. its so so good. also if u dont live in a city hellscape or#the god forsaken desert. go run around in the grass. it feels so so nice. i had to run around the house a few times when i got home lol#unrelated#the terror

Has any Yautja come to love a human?
Canonically speaking? Uh....it hasn't outright happened like we haven't gotten a straight up love confession or anything of a yautja and a human hooking up...(yet)
First off I want to state what IS canon about how yautjas view humans in general.
A majority think of us as cattle, and most likely VERY appalling.
They have stated that we are "soft meat" and compared to the tanks that they naturally are? Yeah we are :')
It's important to them to breed with the STRONGEST And most oomans will find it hard to impress a yautja without being in a near death situation 💀 and somehow survive said encounter
Also the fact that I think it's impossible to even crossbreed with a yautja so....
1 not being nearly as physically capable as them and 2 not being able to ensure a bloodline with them (that would be accepted in yautja society) ???
Again the odds of hooking up with a yautja are SLIM I'm talking 🤏 but in HALF
But of course we all knew that.
I guess the prime example of a yautja and a human even having CHEMISTRY was very much in Alien Vs Predator (2004)

BUT the way they simply interacted with each other was just!!! Sus!!!
Sadly this movies script was cut VERY short due to the filming deadline the crew had and what we lost was some very cute Scar and Lex interactions!
Again I'm sure you can find an article about what the interactions were (bc I can't remember) but I remember them being a tad bit more intimate!
Even just the way they were staring at each other in this scene like yeah! Lex had proven herself to be a great warrior! But come on!

But yeah again Scar being actively in love with Lex has never been stated as being canon I think? (God I hope I'm wrong)
They weren't even the first to have such a chemistry! The OG ship is of Machiko Nagochi and Broken Tusk!
Another instance of a human female proving herself to be a great warrior and a yautja marking her because she has earned his respect!
If you haven't read the original alien vs predator comics I highly recommend them!
I don't want to spoil anything regarding that epic story 🥺♥️
But yes that is all that I have on this topic
Everything else is just more speculation and fan canons!
I do love that Yautjas are simply just a natural threat to humans and id prefer them to stay that way!
I love that a majority of them would simply ignore humans and have little care for them unless proven otherwise! It makes earning the respect of one a big deal!

oh god OH God right so crowley's comment about the richard curtis film? just hit me that he's possibly (probably? im assuming crowley is talking about screenwriter credits here) talking about the ending of four weddings and a funeral (bold choice) and i am reeling bc if im reading into this correctly neil really is letting the narrative punches fly
so i dug through the yt archives to find the ending that id all but suppressed in my memory (andie macdowells acting in this brings me out in hives, crowley is such a hero for making it through this film) and-
right fuck it let's just basically do a basic transcript of it:
carrie: "i just wanted to check you're okay, not busy... killing yourself or anything, but you're fine so... i shouldn't have come to the church this morning. im sorry-"
charles: "no, no, wait- it was all my fault, i- i- im the bastard here! and it definitely sorted out one thing; that marriage and me are very clearly not meant for one another... sorted out another big thing as well- there i was, standing in the church and for the first time in my whole life, I realised i totally and utterly loved one person, and it wasn't the person standing next to me in the veil, it was the person standing opposite me now, in the rain."
carrie: "...is it still raining? i hadn't noticed..."
charles: "the truth of it is that i loved you from the first second i met you... you- you're not suddenly going to go away again, are you?"
carrie: "no... i might drown, but otherwise no!"
charles: "okay, okay, we'll go in... but first! let me ask you one thing... do you think that after we've dried off, after we've spent some more time together, you might agree not to marry me? a-and do you think not being married to me might be something you'll consider doing for the rest of your life?... do you?"
carrie: "...i do."
okay so now that you and me, reader, have had to suffer through that, i am just in shock that this, this, is the scene to which crowley is potentially referring. im not saying that he takes it as absolute inspiration for his romantic scenario idea, bc i think he is just covering for what is his own personal fantasy... but boy is it potentially insightful. as ive said before im fairly certain that whilst he was fascinated and amused by aziraphale, i certainly don't think he fell in love on the Wall like he would like to think, in retrospect, that he did.
so let's board this train hurtling along the rails of that particular thought (ie stick with me), crowley really seems to be deluded as to the love story he and aziraphale share... to the point that in ep2 when he makes the curtis remark, we can infer that whilst he may have been subconsciously reconciling his actual feelings of More with aziraphale for a long time, and only fully accepts and declares them in ep6, he's looked over their history as being more than it actually is. because this script? is not even close to what happened on the wall.
like, first of all - aziraphale is not at all andie/carrie (a divine mercy, truly). aziraphale is not passive, however much he plays into it with his damsel-in-distress syndrome, and certainly is not dim and virtually silent. aziraphale always has Things To Say. and crowley, until ep6, does not wax lyrical about his feelings, his innermost thoughts, and certainly not as 'poetically' (see: cheesy af) as a curtis script. in his playful moments he is an outright dork, but not like this.
now this bit? im going to be fanciful and fanfic-y, and very clumsy in how i put this across... but replace the context for a moment:
charles: "no, no, wait- it was all my fault, i- i- im the bastard here! and it definitely sorted out one thing; that belief and love for god and me are very clearly not meant for one another... sorted out another big thing as well- there i was, standing on the wall and for the first time in my whole life, I realised i totally and utterly loved/believed in? one person, and it wasn't the person standing in front of me when i fell, it was the person standing opposite me now, in the rain."
im not going to double down on the red bits, because it is ridiculous, but the vague idea? insane! insane to intimate that he replaced the void that was his belief system, the divine love he now lacks after falling, the betrayal he feels from god, with aziraphale! goodness crowley, this is not healthy, my guy! and then:
charles: "the truth of it is that i loved you from the first second i met you... you- you're not suddenly going to go away again, are you?"
no, i don't think you did, crowley bud- but you are definitely lonely. and lonely not even in the sense of isolation, but lonely in the sense of lack of purpose, possibly guilt and shame, and the inability to understand (or accept that you do understand) why you're currently in the position you're in. but aziraphale is not the replacement for that.
he's not there to fill the spaces where you're barely holding yourself together. you literally end up spending millennia apart in between your run-ins, and get along with it just fine... or maybe aziraphale does, but do you? is why you do the things you do, did what you did; because of this fear?
(when did i suddenly start addressing crowley directly, ah well i cba to rewrite)
charles: "okay, okay, we'll go in... but first! let me ask you one thing... do you think that after we've dried off, after we've spent some more time together, you might agree not to marry me? a-and do you think not being married to me might be something you'll consider doing for the rest of your life?... do you?"
the arrangement? aziraphale be in crowley's company all the time, stop him feeling lonely and make him feel wanted, but not commit to anything more than crowley can handle?
all im saying is that i hope noone dares show crowley the confession from julia roberts in notting hill without giving him a bottle of talisker and a litre of häagen-dazs first 💀

You have posts about building up relationships, but they're all about tv shows. Are there ways to build up couples from strangers to stelena level love without the benefit of multiple episodes without the relationship feeling contrived - like rose and jack. If they weren't teenagers I'd be harder to accept their id die for you status even though we've only known each three days.
Oh, I have posts about movies too, they're just less popular.
Cecilia and Robbie in Atonement. When I read this ask, my mind automatically went to them but I felt like I should do a list since I have so many ships and sometimes I forget a few, not because I don’t ship them, but just because I have so many but I don’t know there’s something about Cecila and Robbie … it’s not just that I find their story beautifully tragic because there are a lot of beautifully tragic ships on this list, it’s McAvoy and Knightley together and as actors unto themselves, the way they hold the emotion of their characters and their relationship in their bodies

and then there’s the fact that this is an intimate, gentle love scene between two Black boys/men. I just love this movie so much.
There is such a weight to this movie and to the dynamics portrayed in this movie and there’s almost this cosmic connection between Chiron [Black] and Kevin

okay so i reread the good omens script book trying to look up a quote i remembered and i kept writing down the things that i absolutely loved about it, so here's just a list of all the quotes and moments that rewired my brain chemistry
aziraphale sasses the hell out of crowley about his antichrist birth organization skills
aziraphale saying “oh sugar” instead of oh shit...
first appearance of everyday by buddy holly, we all know how that turned out
aziraphale doesn’t know how an ansaphone works. this was in the book too, but it’s still funny, especially considering how in radio omens he at least knows about caller id
aziraphale brought shortbread for the drive to the convent. did he think it was a date? please say yes
crowley asked aziraphale if heaven wouldn’t give him (crowley) asylum and aziraphale was going to ask him the same about hell
aziraphale says “what the hell” after pointedly not swearing earlier. hypocrite ass

in the script uriel and sandalphon have their flaming swords drawn, so it wasn't going to be as insidious as expecting aziraphale to walk into the flame of his own volition. but they didn’t end up including it in the show, so it is that insidious after all
aziraphale-as-crowley keeping his socks on for the bath was such a choice
“he doesn’t actually have a newspaper and a cigar, but damn, he’s enjoying himself in his bath” 
i've seen so little talk about how absolutely ice cold aziraphale is in the bath scene with the whole “so you’re probably thinking, ‘if he can do this, i wonder what else he can do’? and very, very soon, you’re all going to get the chance to find out.” BECAUSE THAT SHIT IS TERRIFYING

I've never been so invested in someone's OCs before. I can't help but rewatch your animatics and wish there was a 'directors voice over' type thing or a scene by scene breakdown, haha. Would you ever consider sharing the process behind your animatics?

Of course I'd share my process if people are interested! My method isn't very complicated. Here is a broad overview, focusing on a scene from the BRUTUS animatic.
First, I come up with the entire animatic while listening to a song on repeat (I like to do this on walks / runs) - and then, when I like my ideas enough, I make a script using the song's lyrics (like so):

This was the climax of the song, and I wanted the scenes to overlap so that the mood could be as chaotic as possible. At this point in Cadogan's life that the animatic is centered around, he feels like all of his separate tragedies are collapsing into one never-ending nightmare. I wanted the separate scenes to feel like they were likewise all crushing together for each shot.
2. Once I have the script, I go to my art program (Autodesk Sketchbook) and then draw a LOT!! I like to dive in straight to lineart / shading, but when there’s a complicated scene (like the one scripted above), I do have to slow down and draw a sketch first.
If the scene involves fighting, I like to watch some videos of the type of fighting to get a sense of movement, like this one:

When I have a sense of the movement, I freestyle the sketch:

It’s probably not great for Cadogan to spin around like that, but I just drew what I thought looked cool. 🥲 You can also see I was having trouble telling his legs apart, so one leg gets to be blue. :)
3. Then, I draw the scene in over the sketch:

The same gif as before, but now the sketch has been filled in with lineart and shading. The central figure does all the same motions, but the background changes around him to show a battlefield and a tournament arena.

For this shot, I remember I originally had the sky the same color for both the battle and the tournament. However, because the scene moves so quickly, it wasn't clear that he was fighting through two separate scenes, so I made the skies different so that they were easier to tell apart.

Listen, last year I did two hours and twenty-eight minutes and when I hit two hours and fourteen minutes this year I was like "whatever, print it." Also I liked how they hung together and some life stuff kind of meant that what I needed was a very loopable couple hours, not a curated several hours. I think every time I hear a Donavan song I go "this is my favourite" but it's more like "this is my favourite right now." More love and relationship type songs because you can't get away from that in music tbh, but also it's a fun thing to theme around.

"Oh Snap" has some muddy origins, like any phrase. Wild in this article to see that as of this 2009 article it had worn its ironic welcome.
'Heartbeat' by Riggs is from Heavy Metal (1981), well not *from* the movie, but was in the movie, which is so specifically of its genre and era and also so specifically for me, who ended up with a sizable Loc-Nar tattoo. I think you can gauge pretty quick if a deeply '80s metal animated movie is for you and it conveniently is available on Archive.
It was a wet month here, hence all the rain songs, I hate linking to Insta, but latimes.404 had a nice little rundown of stats. yknow what? im gonna see what you guys think
for the fic, i'd basically post the Script i have written out already to both ao3 and here in a text post, and id draw a few scenes that i really wanted to have visualized but not the whole story. this would be way faster and i could IMMEDIATELY post the story for consumption. the only thing w this is that yeah itd have way less art for it and also some scenes in the script would be...script lol. so they may seem a little weird to read because theyre meant for me to picture how to draw the scene. it WOULD feel a little clunky in script form i guess??
for the comic, itd...probably be over 100 pages long, judging by how long my other comic was at the amount of script i had written. thats a LOT of work for a fancomic, and i already have other ongoing comics to worry about, plus itd make the story take a Lot Longer to get out which is unfortunate bc i kind of only wrote this story to build up context for One Scene i had in mind :/... but also, i think id still have fun making it? i love making comics a lot and i HAVE been itching for a new comic project...idk. itd be a lot slower to get out and would be way more work but it Might be worth it?

"Um, did you just say Ashton??" Eliana questions Victoria.
"Yes, yes I did." Vic responds.
"You went on a date with MY ex?! How could you?!"
"Eliana, for the last fucking time. We're not friends anymore. You took Austin right from underneath me. If I want to date Ashton, I can. You can deal with it if it really bothers you that much."
"God, you're such a bitch." Eliana scoffs.
"Takes one to know one."
"Hey, can you not treat my girl like that?" Austin asks Vic.
"Why? I'm just treating her the way she's treating me. She shouldn't even be on set."
Austin didn't say anything because he knew she was right.
Everyone headed off to set to take their places, Eliana stayed off to the side to watch.
"You know, why can't you girls just learn to get along for the sake of the movie so we don't have to be so miserable on set?" Austin asks Vic as they take places.
"Look, Austin. I would be perfectly fine with being civil but she's the one that's always starting shit, and I'm not letting her get away with it like I did when we were friends."
"Are you sure you're not the one starting things?"
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"Because she's always telling me that it's you."
"Well, somehow you're rarely ever around when she starts it, so you're not there to actually see it. Oh, and by the way, I'd keep my eye on her. I saw her checking out one of the extras."
"She wouldn't. She loves me too much."
"She loves your dick & good looks. That's about it."
"How could you be so sure?"
"That's how it is with everyone she dates. Trust me. And I feel like I've told you this before."
"Ha, yeah. Okay."
"Don't come crying to me when you catch her cheating, saying "I told you so.""
"I won't, because she won't do that."
"Mhm."
"Alright, everyone places! We're rolling in 30 seconds!" Anna shouts.
Austin & Victoria deliver their scenes and get their takes.
"Great work guys. I'm sure as you both read in the script & in the schedule, tomorrow we're doing the sex scene. I hope you guys can really bring your A game tomorrow for it. Do what you have to do to bring that passion." Anna tells them before they go off for break.
"Wanna meet up and rehearse later?" Austin smirks, really giving a fuck boy look.
"I would never in a million years have sex with you." Victoria says in response as she walks off set.
"We'll see about that."
Victoria rolls her eyes & heads to Mila's trailer.
"Austin really thinks we'll end up fucking." she says to Mila, walking in.
"What? How?"
"Well we have to film that scene tomorrow & he's like 'Wanna rehearse later?' like ew no, I would never. And he's like 'We'll see about that.' being all cocky in shit like ew stop."
"He's so gross."
"Tell me about it." Vic rolls her eyes. "After lunch we have to film the club scene and I'm so not ready to make out with him & dance all sexy."
"I do not blame you. But I'm sure it'll be fun either way."
"Only because I have you to help me through it."
"Awww stop. I love you."
"Love you too. I really don't know what Id do without you."
After lunch, everyone got changed into their club scene outfits & got into the correct hair and makeup, then headed onto set.
"Alright, so we're gonna have the music playing, everyone just dance and groove along. Victoria & Austin, the main focus on you both. I don't care when, but just kiss at some point. Keep it steamy." Anna says before calling action.
The music starts playing, everyone's dancing. Victoria and Austin keep it as steamy as they can, spite their feuding relationship.
Vic has her arms wrapped around his neck, and Austin has his hands on her hip & ass. They rock back & forth to the beat of the music.
"Oh, this is nice- Wait no. Don't fall into his trap Victoria." Vic thought to herself. "He's just being super extra handsy right now to get me to 'rehearse'."
She turns around and Austin pulls her into him. Victoria grinds herself against him. He puts his lips on her neck. She tries to fight enjoying it, but she does, until she gets a flashback to that night where everything went down, which lead her to have a mini panic attack.
"Wait, wait, wait. I need a second. Excuse me." Victoria removes herself from set to go take a breather. Mila follows behind her to make sure she's okay.
"Hey, hey, hey. Are you okay? What happened?" Mila asks her as they go outside.
"I just got a flashback to that night where everything went down, and it just kinda sent me into a panic." Victoria explains to her.
"I'm sorry babe. Do you need anything?"
"Yeah, she needs to suck up whatever this is and get back in there. What the hell, Vic?" Austin says coming outside.
"Are you serious right now, Austin?" Victoria asks him. "I wouldn't have panicked if it wasn't for your whore ass."
"What do you mean?" he asks confused.
"This scene was like that night all over again. We danced just like that before you went & fucked things up."
"Again, I'm sorry that I did that. But this is our job, we can't let the past effect us."
"Well, I'm sorry that it effected me because you're a two timing man whore."
"You're so dramatic."
"Can you fucking not right now? And just fuck off? I'm not gonna be able to compose myself if you're just feeding into it."
"Fine. I'll fuck off."
"Good. Bye."
"Anna wants us back in no more than ten minutes." Austin says before heads back inside.
"God, he's such a dick. I don't know if I can handle another few weeks working with him." Vic says to Mila.
"Hey, you'll be okay. You've gotten this far. I know it's hard, but you got this. Don't let this asshole ruin your big break."
"I know, I know. He's just making it so hard. Especially having Eliana around."
"I know. But if he tries shit again, I will fight & lose my job. I don't care. No one messes with my best friend."
"Thanks, Mila. Again, I don't know what I'd do without you."
The girls went back inside & continued to film.
Austin & Victoria we're facing each other, dancing. They kept looking at each others lips, getting ready to go in for the kiss.
"God, those lips are so lucious. NO stop Vic. Don't think like that."
Austin goes in for the kiss, Victoria follows his lead.
"Wow, this is actually an enjoyable kiss because I can't taste Eliana on them. Fuck, he's such a good kisser. NO shut up brain. We are not doing this."
Anna calls cut & we were done for the day.
Austin clears his throat, "Good work, Williams."
"Yeah, uh, same to you Butler."
"Hey, we should probably practice for tomorrow." he says.
"Why? Can't we just wing it?"
"Well, I mean, we'll rehearse it before we film it with the intimacy coordinator but I mean, we should ourselves so we're more prepared."
"No, I know you & I know you'd actually try to bang and that's NOT happening."
"No, we wouldn't."
"Yes we would. If we're rehearsing, it's here on set witu the coordinator. That's it."
"Cmon, Vic. You don't want to be with me?"
"Id rather die than to ever be with you." Vic says, attempting to storm off.
Austin grabs her wrist and pulls her in, & kisses her.
She gets lost in him for a moment before she realizes what's going on.
"Oh my god, Austin. No." she shoves him off of her. "We're not fucking, we're not kissing, we're not doing shit unless it's for this film. You're with Eliana, right? Use her for your fucking & kissing needs, not me."
"Fine then. Our scene will just suck."
"If it sucks, it sucks. I really don't care."
Victoria walks off set & goes to her trailer to grab her things.
"Vic, you ready to go?" Mila pops her head in.
"Yep, let's go." she says, in a passive tone.
"What's wrong?"
"Austin kissed me. Trying to get me to have sex with him to "rehearse" again." she rolls her eyes.
"Ew."
"I know. I cant with him."
The next day on set...
Austin & Victoria meet up with Casey, the intimacy coordinator in a closed office space that's set up as a bedroom.
"Okay, the scene starts with Allison jumping into Jake's arms, kissing very passionately. Jake carries Allison into the bedroom. I was thinking from there, Jake will throw Allison onto the bed before hovering over her, continuing the makeout. Jake will remove Allison's dress leaving her in her underwear, then his shirt comes off, he pulls down his bottoms, her panties come off, and they go at it kind of rough, but passionate. All that sound good?" Casey asks Austin & Vic as she's done explaining the scene.
They both nod their head in agreement, although they don't want to.
"Perfect. I'll have you guys get into your nudity wear stuff. It makes it all look real, without any genitalia touching. Once you guys are ready, we'll go over it, then we'll go to set and shoot."
"Ready to have your mind blown?" Austin asks Victoria all cocky.
"Please, Austin. It's not like we're going to have actual intercourse."
"If you say so."
"God, he's so annoying." she thought to herself.
The actors went off to get prepped and into costume.
Once they we're ready, they went back into the room to go over it.
Victoria jumps into Austin's arms and starts making out with him. He throws her onto the bed as directed, and hovers over her kissing her.
He removes her dress and tosses it to the side, then removes his shirt & tosses it. He pulls his pants down and removes her panties, then "goes inside of her", mimicking the actions. They both make the faces and sounds of pleasure, does whatever feels right for the scene.
"Cut! That was perfect guys. It's a super short scene, but it was great. Let's head off to set and do the exact same thing."
They all go off to set, and do their thing, of course doing the dialogue that leads up to it.
After Anna calls cut, Austin lays down next to Vic. They're both out of breath like they were actually doing it. And they'd be lying to themselves if they weren't turned on by each other right now, which they're hating on themselves for.
"Good job, Butler." Vic says to Austin.
"You too, Williams."
They get up from the bed and put their robes on.
Victoria heads off to her trailer to get dressed and break for lunch.
On Austin's way back to his trailer, he sees something that Victoria tried warning him about, but just brushed to the side, not wanting to believe it. Now that he sees it, he believes it.
"Eliana??" he says, catching her making out with that extra, as they were trying to hide in a corner of a building but it wasn't working out very well.
"Oh my god, Austin! I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen." Eliana goes on.
"Save it. I should have listened to Victoria. She was right about you. And I should have never kissed you that night. I lost the girl who I had thought was the best I ever met, and now I'm losing the other girl who I thought was the best."
"Austin! Please! I love you."
"No you don't. You never really did, and I know that now. You only wanted me for my looks like Victoria said. It's over Eliana. You can get your stuff out of my trailer after break. Id rather not see you again."
"Fine. If you want to be over, then we'll be over. You weren't that good at sex anyways."
"Whatever, Eliana."
Austin walks away, regretting so many decisions he's made in the past few weeks.
Maybe he should have listened to Victoria. Maybe he shouldn't have gotten with Eliana in the first place.
Only time will tell what will happen next.

if the writers planned the whole season out in advance then eddie and marisol makes even less sense because they literally didn't even have a moment or an interaction in the episode she appeared in and she was largely forgettable. And please don't sit there and suggest that Natalia Ms Buck's death was so cool is the couch he's been searching for since the premiere cause that makes even less sense.
Okay listen, I get that you're worried about your preferred ship, but you're drawing some really weird conclusions completely based in internal agony.
We still don't know if Marisol is back to date Eddie or not. We'll know more tonight (or tomorrow, in my case), and if she is there to date Eddie, then we'll see how it's presented and can start speculating with some actual canon to back it up. And yes, the writers always plan for season-long arcs and stories from the very beginning of starting to put together a season. Scripts for specific episodes aren't written until later, of course, but the big themes and stories are brainstormed and agreed upon at an early stage. For example, Juan Carlos Coto said this after 6x02:

This could be hinting at several things - Buck's upset over Levi and the happiness convention and Bathena never getting to go on their honeymoon being two of them. We'll know more once we see the last two episodes.
But my point is, being worried about potential new love interests simply seems very unnecessary to me, because the way their stories this season have been framed, there's been so much pointing to buddie. Remember how in 6A people were complaining that we got the initial Buckley-Diaz dinner in 6x01 and then very few buddie-on-their-own scenes the rest of the half-season while we got much more Hen/Buck and Chimney/Eddie content? It seems very obvious, to me at least, that they gave us that not just to deepen those on-screen relationships (which are so great!), but also so we'd be able to contrast those interactions to the many Buck/Eddie/Christopher scenes we got in the beginning of 6B. That's what the writers do, and what they are so good at: they see the whole picture, and know how to reach both forwards and backwards in the show's timeline to make us react to what we're seeing on the screen.
I've been watching seasons 2-4 with my sister while s6 has aired, and we all love to talk about the shift in buddie's dynamic between season 2 and 3 (which is huge! Don't get me wrong!), but let me tell you, the difference to s6 is also much bigger than I think a lot of people realise. (I actually feel like this second shift really started in s5, but I'll have more thoughts on that once I've gotten to rewatch it.)
And lastly, if you think I'd suggest that Natalia is Buck's endgame, I don't know who you've been following on here, but it sure isn't me.

anyway tho like. now that ive played the 1.2 story and sat on it a bit id say my overall thoughts are def mixed. i enjoyed a lot of it but theres some things that sorta just stick out or dont work and the pacing definitely worked against the story
(just a long rant/ramble upcoming its not coherent at all lol)
one thing that rly rubbed me the wrong way was like. while overall this story rly sold fu xuan as a character to me (i was a huge fan of her presence overall) the dan shu thing just felt? wrong? and like to be clear it wasnt just fu xuan the scenes writing was off in general but her role in being the one countering dan shus points just made her p central to the problem.
but like my issue is that dan shu is previously established as having very understandable reasons behind her resentment of lan that made her compelling as twist villain imo. Yet that resolve was nowhere in the scene in her rebuttal of the xianzhous ways?? when i think that shouldve been The moment of her calling out the xianzhou and actually challenging fu xuan properly. it wouldve been an even better opportunity to expand upon how fu xuan responds to being confronted with the xianzhous flaws and hypocrisy and problems. but somehow yassified dan shu really just. had a generic villain speech and thats it. the callback to their heritage as former followers of abundance was... fine? but like it wasnt that impactful. and fu xuan essentially calling her nothing but a power hungry villain when thats very much Not what dan shus motivation boils down to sucks and now players who didnt read her diary or play/pay attention to her side quest will think of her as just a generic bad guy and not a very tragic complex figure of her own
then the like. underutilization of blade was just like. ok what was the point. it IS funny to reference the tuxedo mask meme and how he skewers his ex yet immediately gangs up with him against yanqing and all but honestly he shouldve gotten to be more feral and present than he did like its just meh. ig its kafka keeping him from messing up elios script but cmon. i want more of him. yanqing also got done so dirty in that scene like. he shouldve gotten some more screentime and focus even if his job was p much to just get bodied. kid just watched jing yuan make deals with criminals no way he isnt affected by it
in general i was p shocked how inexistent the high cloud quintet was from the story. but ig w how rushed the pacing was for dan hengs backstory reveals at times already ig its better left for later (hopefully). i just rly hope this means that the topic get its time to shine properly in the future. esp since im p sure they never even named any of dan fengs crimes outright which is a curious choice.
jing yuan got a rly solid characterization and i definitely enjoyed it!!! even if im a little miffed at how they didnt give dan heng enough breathing room to come to terms with the emotional impact of facing his past and memories thanks to the plot moving forward so fast and he was kinda the one leading that. but he was still great - i liked the scheming side to him and the arguably pretty ruthless way he leveraged dan hengs exile status to force his hand to cooperate a lot. his reasoning makes sense obvi but its still a very brutal and utilitarian approach and i like that energy for his character. his duty is to the luofu above all else even if thats far from all he is about. overall his and dan hengs interactions including dan heng very much emphasizing his desire to be seen as separate from dan feng were a highlight for sure. and jing yuans final showdown moment against phantylia slapped obviously
and then w dan heng im torn between like. really loving all the good stuff we got with the insane cutscenes and the vidyadhara echoes and then wishing that he got just that little bit more for his own realizations and inner conflict. and the part about not properly featuring blade also hurt his story too imo bc the anticlimactic nature of the scene where blade confronts him and forces the transformation and how he n kafka just... leave rly kinda flattens the impact of the reveal moment esp since thats when jing yuan just all but openly says ok time for the plot. but they still did a great job selling DHIL and i think im overall a fan of how they seem to have handled the dan feng vs dan heng thing (and its roughly what i was expecting). dan feng is dead but its never just that simple either. i hope theyll be exploring the exact nature of dan fengs sins and the sedition in the future
im so mad i spoiled myself the tingyun thing bc jfc the neck snap wouldve hit So hard if the reveal itself was also a complete surprise. and its sth that was genuinely well built up like i remember thinking her 1.0 dialogue was kinda sus but wouldve never imagined the actual truth. dont do leaks folks sometimes this happens and it sucks :/ but i have to say phantylia herself was kinda? underwhelming. i liked when she picked up jing yuan like a little bug she wanted to squish and the boss fight was cool but to be fair. this was like 50% bc of how bad the sound mixing was for all of her dialogue that overlapped w in game battle. she rly lacks the necessary menace and imposing energy when u can barely even make out what shes saying 😭 her voice shouldve been as loud and large as her..... Presence. jing yuan carried the boss fight and the final cutscene but man the fade to black rly didnt do the abrupt ending any favors like we just teleport to exalted sanctum and thats it???? maybe jing yuan dies maybe not!!!
overall my prime issue is p much just how like. it feels like they shoved 3-4 mini arcs worth of stuff into one speedrun when all of them deserved more focus and exploration and the pacing rly got rough at times. it wasnt like inazuma level bad but it does get me wondering if hoyos just bad at doing these big conclusions to prior build up and holding the story threads tightly together until the end.
this comes off as super negative helpp but like. by no means did i hate all of it so dont take it the wrong way lmao. its more that there was good stuff there but also wasted potential. for the most part i was having a blast but to be fair that was 40% just playing blade ridiculously underleveled through it all. i only got him to lvl 80 for the boss fight
