It was a cold and blustery day in December as you strolled through the streets of Azuchi. Your hands were filled with bags brimming with gifts for all your friends, including an extra special one for Mitsuhide -- a small porcelain mouse.
Christmas was one of your favorite holidays – the lights and the trees and the family dinner of fried chicken were just some of the things that made this holiday so special to you. You had thought this year would be bittersweet, as it was your first away from home, but it had been anything but so far. Christmas might not have come to Japan yet, but there was nothing stopping you from bringing the spirit of the holidays here.
You had planned to sneak out that afternoon under the ruse of needing to go to the markets in search of new fabric – it was the perfect excuse to go shopping alone to get everyone’s gifts.
And then you ran into Mitsuhide.
“Where’s this little mouse running off to this early?”
Close. So close to freedom.
After you informed him that you were going to the market to pick up some new fabrics, you were shocked when he asked if he could join you. Of course you said yes – who would say no to their boyfriend – but now you were in the unenviable position of trying to evade the kitsune somewhere in the market as you purchased the presents.
As it turned out, Mitsuhide was meeting someone in the markets, so it was easy for you to shop in secret. After spending an inordinate amount of time perusing various shops to find the perfect gifts – down to Nobunaga’s favorite konpeito, sorry Hideyoshi – it was finally time to return home to the castle.
One moment you were hurrying through the streets of the markets in Azuchi, and the next, you were lying flat on the ground. Cheeks warm with embarrassment, you sighed, your bags lying scattered on the ground around you. Your only saving grace was that no one you knew witnessed your fall.
Or so you thought.
Your stomach twisted in knots as you looked up into the crowd and spotted a familiar head of silver-white hair, suppressing a groan as he approached.
“Little mouse,” he said, offering you his hand in assistance. You slipped your hand in his; he easily pulled you up to a standing position. His eyes flickered over your figure, assessing any injuries. He reached out a hand, tucking a stray lock of hair behind your ear. His hand lingered, his fingers grazing your still heated cheeks, his touch comforting.
“You really do need to watch yourself,” he chided, his eyes fixed on a patch of ice on the ground. “It certainly would have been a blue Christmas if you had hurt yourself.”
You turned to him, your eyes wide with awe. How did he know about Christmas? You hadn’t said a word about it as you were waiting until the 25th to surprise everyone. So who told him?
He gazed at you knowingly, his golden eyes twinkling like familiar Christmas lights. He huffed a small laugh, and as if he was reading your mind, he pulled you close to him in a warm embrace, his fingers running through your hair as he held your face close to his heart.
“Lucky for you, I was here to help.”

50 Follower Event 🎉🎉
So I posted a bit ago about getting to 50 followers and thanking everyone and mentioned I would try thinking of something for it and I have. This is open to all my followers and anyone who comes across this post just send me a msg or an ask (they should be open).
Pinning for You
Submission Dates: March 24- April 12 2024
Details: This is about unrequited love and how one of the guys feels about that, not a new concept but this is what I kept coming back to. You get to chose two suitors for this the one MC is in love with and the one that is in love with her despite her being in love with another. You can also specify which suitors pov you would like it from or you can leave it up to me. Also if there is a certain event (ie engagement reaction, drunken confession, flirting gone to far) you'd like included you can ask for that as well and I will try my best to incorporate it or again leave it up to me. More than likely these will all be sfw at most a tiny bit of suggestive spice, if you don't want any possible spice let me know though as I said more than likely everything will be sfw. My personal deadline for finishing whatever asks/requests I get will be April 30, 2024 unless I get way more than expected and I need to extend it.
Ikevamp: Any suitor released in english with one exception. I have already written a few fics with Mitsuki and Theo as a couple with Leonardo being in love with her and it's my pet project so I won't be writing for that specific comboination. I will write it the other way around though.
Ikepri: Any suitor released in english. Only exception is a very specific one but it's how Rio would react to Emma and Silvio announcing she's pregnant because I wrote that already lol.
Ikesen: The original 11 guys, and please include a back up from either ikepri or ikevamp as I have not been playing Ikesen long so not sure how well I could do and if I'm not confident I can write it I'd like to have a backup for you.
Thank you again to everyone who has followed me and liked my works! I'm glad I can put something out there that people are enjoying 🙂. I can't wait to see what if any requests I get for this I am both excited and incredibly nervous!

a/n:  Inspired by Lana's song Yayo, because it was written for Shingen Takeda. (Daddy? Tiger?!) For Late Summer Rendezvous, Day 3: Private pool skinny dipping
Tumblr media
"Are you excited to find out which one of the swimsuits you bought me I'm wearing under this dress, Daddy?"
Looking at Shingen over your shoulder, your fingers trace down the skin, not yet lowering the frilly sleeve - just teasing. The chic little dress you're wearing for him is perfect for executing your plan of keeping him on his toes, leaving him burning with curiosity.
Earlier today, when you got a text from Shingen to meet him by the pool, you found three luxury brand bags on your bed - all three containing swimwear he picked only just for you.
As you tried them on, you saw in the mirror what he saw in his fantasies. Glowing with the affection you felt still lingering on the pieces of fabric, knowing that he chose all three led by the simple desire to see you wearing them. Did he spoil you by getting you that many, or could he simply not pick? Perhaps both answers are correct. You love him, you love him too much.
That's why you want to give him something in return. One leg in front of the other, you step in closer so he can get a better look from where he admires you on his chaise longue. Preferred poolside drink swirling in his glass as he moves it to his thirsty lips, the ice in his glass clinks and Shingen's sip is suspiciously small - you interpret it as him wanting to free his field of vision of anything that's not you quickly enough not to miss anything, no matter how small of a detail - and you giggle.
Giving him a little dance, you turn around again, looking over your other shoulder, and this time you bare it for his eyes. The neckline of your dress lowers with the newly pulled-down frilly sleeve, and you leave it as that as you move your hips. The music coming from indoors syncs perfectly with your alluring dance, it's as if the universe works for you today. Confidence runs through your veins, and you boldly hold Shingen's gaze to prove it as you striptease for him.
He's so gorgeous occupying his seat and letting you do this to him; play tricks on his mind like his personal little siren. His heavy necklace shining on the sun, golden rings adorning his hand as he taps lightly on his glass. His grey eyes so dark now, a shadow of lust cast over them. You're proud of yourself for getting this reaction so quickly. You keep moving your hips.
The other sleeve is off, and of course, it shows nothing of what Shingen is waiting to see. There's no bikini tied behind your neck so he narrows it down to two possible choices, and perhaps makes it harder to place his bets on one over the other. That's what you conclude by the way he's cupping his chin, one finger ghosting over his lips.
Turning your back to him, you change tactics and begin raising the hem of your dress now. Past your knees, past your thighs. Your body lowers down to a squat as you do, it goes down, the dress goes up. Soon the globes of your backside enter Shingen's vision - but only briefly, leaving too little yet too much to his imagination.
A thong then, is what most probably enters your humming darling's mind. You almost feel a devil's horns materializing over your head, and you wiggle your ass hoping that the pointed tail would follow.
"Daddy's patience has limits, sweetheart. You know that, don't give me these eyes now."
Faking a frown for him is hard when you want to grin at his 'warning' - oh, you've heard those exact words somewhere before. Before your mind can be taken to other places, pink-tinted memories making your body hot as you remember, you pick up your dance where you left. Right, the part where you make the big reveal.
Facing Shingen once again, you let your movement loose the neckline of your dress without the support of your shoulders holding it in place. It lowers down as you almost wiggle out of it in your sultry movements, lower and lower, showing more of your skin.
Shingen's sharpened gaze follows suit, waiting to meet the valley of your breast with his gaze - and to meet the fabric of the swimwear that won the opportunity to adorn your body on this hot summer day by Takeda's private pool. One that was picked especially for his sweetheart, and that she, in turn, picked to wear for him today.
Except, it's nowhere to be seen.
Shingen gazes upon you as you reveal millimeter after millimeter of nude cleavage, trying to remember if the bikini tops he gifted you were that skimpy. He's mesmerized by the time he sees the familiar forms of your breasts in their whole beauty, dress falling down your tummy. Then sliding down your hips with the help of your hands, you turn just a little to reveal the curve of your ass that is equally as uncovered, no thong to be seen.
And with that, the dress falls to the floor. Making a little spin for Shingen, you beam up with growing anticipation.
"Do you like it? I wanted to swim with you today in this."
Shingen takes another sip. His smile is just as familiar as is his gaze to you. It could mean a lot of things, all things you're guaranteed to love.
He places down his glass slowly, moving his eyes on you from head to toe. One of you is a bad performer - either you at seducing him, or him at playing cool. He stands up.
"What are you waiting for, then? Get in the pool."
You bite on your bottom lip watching him get up to undoubtedly join you, and you feel the telltale shivers run down your spine. The pool ladder is right there behind you, and you take a step back to position yourself, seeing that Shingen is eager to follow suit. You see him taking off his trunks in a hurry, now as nude as you are.
But you mistake his enthusiasm for impatience, leaving yourself open to his surprise attack - strong arms taking hold of your body, you're soon lifted off the ground, final destination already known.
Jumping together with you in the water, Shingen makes you scream with adrenaline, even if he is as careful as he can be in his act of spontaneous wildness. You can't blame him for wanting to get you in the water as fast as possible - knowing you're not leaving his hold for awhile - especially as something big and firm presses against your hip.
"Daddy, you're-"
"Are you surprised?" Shingen hisses against your neck, ambushing it with kisses that make you weak. He has you like putty in the water, already grabbing your legs and guiding them to wrap around his torso. He's going to have you right now, no more games. Arousal clouds your mind and you feel ready for him, hot and needy inside and aching to feel him claiming you.
"You're whining. What happened, sweets? You looked so full of yourself just a second ago. Where did that confidence go?"
Eyes opening wide as you register the unmistakable rubbing of Shingen's length along your glistening lips, incoherent syllables leaving your mouth that dangerously resemble a plea. Shingen smirks as if he loves them more than a proper begging, and you guess so by the rewarding ministration of him guiding the tip inside you. Only, he loves to play dirty.
"Oh, it slipped out. Perhaps you can lend me a hand."
Muscular arms flexing around your waist, you picture Shingen easily impaling you on his cock like a ragdoll - his teasing is obvious and irritating, and you're so very shaky when you remove one arm from around his neck and instead reach down to find the place where you're supposed to be connected.
Just to return the favor, you give him a good stroke, falsely pretending to guide him in once or twice - for the fun of it. Just so that it's known it's not only you who's impatient.
Shingen curses under his breath and crashes his lips against yours, making you feel every ounce of frustration in the form of a fierce kiss. He also aims at distracting you.
Getting a good hold of your form, he makes your dreams come true by pressing you down on him, stretching out your insides on his thick length in one long thrust, inch by delicious inch.
You arch your back, trying to withdraw from the kiss just to fill your lungs with oxygen again and use it to voice out the intense pleasure waving over you in a series of moans.
Shingen smirks against your neck, kisses getting rougher and shapeless, wanting to feel you on his tongue just somewhere.
"That's it, good girl. Hold onto me and let me move you up and down. That's what you wanted, right? For me to fuck you silly?"
Wrapping your legs tighter around Shingen's waist, you moan hopelessly, praying that he accepts it for an answer rather than bully you into begging him more. The water feels so good all around you accommodating your untamed act, and you think you're in heaven. Fucking your daddy in his private pool, seducing him to madness with your audacity to show up wearing neither of the luxurious swimsuits he bought you. You don't even need the guttural sound of his groans at this very moment in order to explode and cum all around him - but hearing him voice out the way you make him feel, you climax on the spot.
"Ahhhhhh-Daddy-Daddy!"
Writhing in his hold, you let yourself be fucked hard and deep through it all, not realizing when Shingen's thrusts got deeper and uneven, the heat inside you suddenly intensifying in a familiar way until a groan falls from your lips. Shingen finds them to claim, giving you a sweet, lazy kiss as he pumps the rest of his cum in your welcoming depths, chuckling at the way your refuse to unwrap your legs around him even after he calms down from his high.
"If you're going to play, go all the way. I don't want to see a single piece of clothing on you the whole time we're here. Got that, sweetheart?"

You Reap what you Sow
Fandom: Ikemen Sengoku
Pairing : Ieyasu X MC
Genre: Fluff
TW : Pregnancy
The warlords had been away for nearly five months in the war with Echigo; only Mitsunari had stayed behind, occasionally racing out to see how things were progressing. Two nights before they left, Nobunaga had a feast. Alcohol was flowing, but knowing her limits, she stated she was going to bed before she got too drunk. Ieyasu, annoyed with Mitsunari, offered to walk her to her room. Feeling they needed to sober up, she made them some tea, but she tripped on the rug and landed in Ieyasu’s arms, taking them both down with her lying on top of him. He stroked her cheek with the back of his hand while keeping his emerald eyes locked with hers. His hand went to the back of her head and, tangled in her hair kissing her fiercely. Their clothes fell to the floor, and they woke up naked and entwined in her bed.
It was awkward afterward; they couldn’t even look at each other, then the warlords left. First, there was acne, and her emotions were all over the place. Then Mitsunari finally figured it out when she cried over dropping an egg on the floor. Then, not ten minutes after breakfast, she was vomiting in a pail. “I don’t mean to pry my lady, but is it possible that you might be pregnant? I’ve been researching all your symptoms in Ieyasu’s library of books, and that’s what I’ve come up with.”
She smiles at him and ruffles his hair. “You noticed, huh?” She says with a sad smile. “I wasn’t sure until recently myself when I started getting nauseous. “I’ll try to do my best to take care of you in Lord Ieyasu’s stead.” she laughs. “You can hardly take care of yourself.” He chuckles, “Maybe I’ll do better knowing I’m taking care of you and your growing child.” He smiles, but then her face falls.
“How’d you know it was Ieyasu?” Mitsunari takes a drink of water with his breakfast. “It wasn’t hard; he walked you to your room and never returned, even though he left his scarf in the dining hall. Then you two wouldn’t even look at each other. If I’m wrong, please let me know.” She laughs. “You aren’t wrong. I guess it was pretty obvious.” Mitsunari finishes chewing and sets his chopsticks down. “Should we send him a letter?” She shook her head adamantly. “No, I want them all to focus on their jobs; my job right now is getting through this.” Mitsunari grins. “I have to ride out there next week. You’ll be okay with me being gone for a couple days?” Laughing, she shakes her head. “I’ll be okay, Mitsunari.”
That’s how it stayed; Mitsunari kept his word and took care of her, holding her hair back when she had to vomit and rubbing her shoulders and feet. Her belly had finally popped out.
She looked out in the distance one evening and saw them riding up to the castle. “They’re back! Mitsunari, where are you?!” He appeared at her side. “He looked at her, and thankfully, with her haori on and her obi wrapped around her waist, it was hard to see her little baby bump. He didn’t want it to be a shock to the warlords as soon as they saw her.
As they rode up, they all looked weary, but alas, the war with Echigo would continue. She hugged each one of them with armor and all. Mitsuhide smiled at her. “I must say you are positively glowing; it’s nice to come home to have a greeting such as this.” She smiled, but she knew it wasn’t because she was happy to see them; it was the pregnancy.
Nobunaga had planned a celebration for their return after a full day of rest. _ _ _  went about her day as normal. She was walking through the gardens, and Mitsuhide and Ieyasu were nearby talking when they both saw her; not that it was abnormal, she often made sure the gardens were being properly attended to. She put her hand on her stomach and sat down on the bench, putting her head in her hands. “She doesn’t look well.” Ieyasu sauntered over to her, “If you aren’t feeling well, you should be lying down.” She looked up; she knew who that deep voice belonged to. “Ieyasu, “he grimaced, “Come on. I’ll help you get to your room.” Normally, she would have said she could do it herself in order to avoid him, but she felt awful and was exhausted, so she accepted and put her hand in his.
“Thank you,” she said as he pulled her to her feet. Mitsuhide had a knowing smile on his face and continued on his way as he watched Ieyasu help her inside. His arm wrapped around her shoulders as he helped her to her room. “I’ll untie your obi. That way, it’s not so constricting, especially if you’re nauseous. I have something for that; I’ll get you some.” He snickered, “Last time I was doing this, things turned out a lot different.” she blushed, and he chuckled. “can we forget that happened and be friends again?” He asked, her obi fell away, and she turned around to look at him.
“I wanted to talk about that, actually, and I hope you don’t get mad.” He was perplexed but listened to her. “I’m not sick.” He tilted his head slightly. “What do you mean? You seem sick to me.” She bit her lower lip, trying to figure out how to tell him. “I feel sick, but I’m not. I’m pregnant.” He searched her eyes, so much emotion filling them. “What? It’s mine, not Mitsunari’s. You’ve been here alone with him for months. “Let me show you then. She faced him as she took off her kimono and lifted up her undergarments to expose her swelling belly, proof of the growing baby inside of her. “Mitsunari and I are friends; he’s been helping me through this, but nothing more. It’s yours, Ieyasu.”
Tears filled his eyes, and she took his hand and put it to her belly. Tears rolled down his cheeks, and he looked at her. “but I don’t want you to be with me just because we’re having a baby; if you don’t want me, I’ll understand -“He glared down at her. “Don’t be ridiculous; if you weren’t being an idiot and actually paid attention, you would’ve realized that I’m in love with you.” Stunned, she gazed at him, searching his eyes. “I guess I’m an idiot too. I don’t know how you feel either.” She put her hand over the hand that was placed upon her belly. “I love you.”
He took her face in his hands and crashed his lips upon hers. He kisses her thoroughly, his tongue twining with hers. She drops her undergarments, and her arms wrap around his neck. When they pull away from each other, he gazes into her eyes. “Come live with me. I’ve already missed five months. I don’t want to miss anything else. I want to be there through your sickness, through your being upset, through joy and happiness. I don’t want to miss any of it. I want to be a family.” Tears trickle down her cheeks. “Of course, I’ll live with you. I want to be with you.” He kissed her again softly.
“I’d like to lie down now. I’m still not feeling that great.” He held out his hand and guided her to her futon. “Sleep now, I’ll be back later to check on you.” She nodded as she closed her eyes. Ieyasu smiled and slid the door shut. His heart felt light. Even if the war hadn’t ended victoriously, he was happier than he had ever been, and no one could ruin it for him. He went to the library, grabbed a book about pregnancy, and sat down, reading as much as he could, absorbing the information on how he could help her medically and what herbs he could use for her nausea. “She might have to tough it out .” He comments out loud to himself.
It was time for the feast, and Ieyasu came to rouse her; she was already up getting dressed, and he helped her with her obi. When he was finished, he kissed her cheek. “Let’s go.” He held out his hand, and they walked hand in hand to the dining hall. Nobunaga let out a hearty chuckle, “I knew you two had eyes for each other, but with how you avoided each other, I never thought I’d see the day that you’d come together. “Ha! This is not just a celebration of our safe return but of your union. Let me pour you both some sake.” She shook her head. “Thank you, Nobunaga, but none for me.” He raised an eyebrow. “You always drink with us. “She smiles softly, and Ieyasu puts his hand on the small of her back. “Ieyasu and I are having a baby.” Everyone was excited and hugging. Ieyasu went over to Mitsunari and reached out his hand. “Thank you for taking care of her.” Mitsunari grinned. “Lord Ieyasu, there is no need to thank me, I was only doing what needed to be done.” She walked over, standing next to Ieyasu, “No, you went above what needed to be done, and you put me before yourself. I will forever be grateful.” She kissed him on the cheek and hugged him. “Thank you, Mitsunari,” she whispered in his ear as she started crying. “_ _ _ and Lord Ieyasu are so kind.” Ieyasu scowled. “Don’t let it go to your head. “Everyone laughed, and seeing how happy their friends were for them made her heart smile. Then she felt little flutters inside of her. The baby had become active from all the excitement. She kissed Ieyasu, and his hand went to her belly, and they both smiled into the kiss as everyone cheered.

Chapter 42: Mitsuhide POV Chapter - Other Half - Catching up with the Kitsune, as Hideyoshi attempts an intervention of sorts.
Mitsuhide x OC; Hideyoshi x MC (Mai)
All Chapters Archived on Ao3
Logline - With Mai, Hideyoshi, and Aki missing, Mitsuhide and Katsuko reluctantly team up. Disguised as a merchant and his concubine, can they outsmart the man known as the God of Deceit?
As soon as the guard captain ordered their unit to the top of the castle wall, he knew. Something had gone wrong for Katsuko. Although Mitsuhide was certain his encounter with her in the courtyard had remained undetected, he had not been able to watch out for her as she returned to the castle.
Whatever just happened had resulted in Motonari and Iekane having a low-voiced conversation while the rest of them waited at attention, hands on the hilts of their swords, ready to draw them upon command.
Mitsuhide stayed at the edge of the line, keeping his posture at attention, with his helmet low on his head. It would do her no good if he were to be identified before he could even determine the extent of the problem. So he stood still. Even though every muscle in his body was alert for an opportunity to take control of the situation. Even though his mind was already racing through a number of scenarios – none of which reached a positive conclusion.
In a few moments, another contingent of Kanamori vassals marched Katsuko and Yoshimoto onto the wall. She was still wearing that fur cloak, while Yoshimoto, on the other hand, was dressed in an informal kimono, and as usual, unarmed. Mitsuhide doubted that the man would be much help in this, but perhaps he was counting on the gloss that came from being an Imagawa. Indeed, he was already puffing up into the parody of an annoyed high-caste Prince. "Master Iekane, what is the meaning of this insult?"
"This doesn't concern you, Lord Imagawa." Iekane’s voice was a few degrees short of the groveling that Yoshimoto seemed to expect. Since this man was not yet familiar, Mitsuhide kept his attention on him, hoping to learn as much about Katsuko’s enemy as possible. From what she’d revealed of him, Mitsuhide knew that Iekane was a good liar with the patience of spider; able to spin a web and lie in wait for it to snare an unwary victim. "Motonari has a problem with a member of your household."
"I don't see how. My page has devoted his attention to me since the moment we arrived. Any insult would have come about because he was merely doing my bidding." Thus far, Yoshimoto’s approach was to throw around his status to protect Katsuko.
Unfortunately, what would work against the Kanamori vassals was unlikely to work against Motonari and that man’s distain for the current societal structure (a philosophy that Mitsuhide somewhat sympathized with, though he disagreed with a ‘burn it all down’ solution). Indeed just as expected, Motonari focused his ire on Katsuko, having apparently recognized her from their prior encounters. "Lord Imagawa, yer page is a spy who works for Mitsuhide."
Yoshimoto whipped out his fan and yawned. "Of course she's a spy. But she works for my cousin, not Mitsuhide."
For one very short moment, Mitsuhide wondered if that was in fact true. Was Katsuko one of the mitsumono? Had she always been so? He glanced over at her, and noticed a quickly concealed flash of surprise, that was then followed by a straightening of her posture, as if she was mimicking what she believed a Takeda spy would look like.
It seemed that Imagawa was improvising.
Keep talking. It would give him an opportunity to figure out how to defuse this situation without giving up his mission.
Rescue her first. Hang the mission.
No. Now was not the time for indecision.
Iekane started to speak, but Motonari took control. "Shut up." He turned to Katsuko and asked, "Yer one of the Mitsumono? Why’d ya help Mitsuhide?"
“The best way to gain his trust was to help him. And of course once he pulled us off your ship, I figured the only way I was going to get back to Kasaguyama was to work with him."
Good girl. That sounded plausible.
“By burning down my camp." Motonari’s words came out as a growl, but there was a different kind of light in his eyes.
"Next time tell your men not to store, the gunpowder so close to open flame.” She shrugged. "Hell of a fire though."
For a moment, Mitsuhide worried that she had pushed Motonari too far, but then the man started laughing. ”Hell of a fire."
The guards near Mitsuhide shifted uneasily, apparently not used to this type of volatility. Iekane looked around and seemed to be preparing to try and re-take control, but Katsuko spoke up first. "Lord Iekane knows this, because he and I were both originally trained by the same spymaster." She addressed the rest of the Kanamori guardsmen. "Just a suggestion, but you might want to get a food taster in for Mozumi's meals and drink."
Iekane put his hand to his heart. "Are you accusing me of harming my dear father? The man took me in, saved my life. I'm devoted to his health."
Hmmm. From that response, it was possible that Katsuko had hit a nerve. Mitsuhide continued to study him, watching his face for reactions, looking for any opening that would allow him to subtly help matters. As always, in the back of his head, help Katsuko warred with stop Yoshiaki.
But thus far, Yoshimoto appeared to have a slight edge of control. "Yes, of course you must be. A poor orphan is always grateful to the rich man, especially if he has no other living offspring."
The difficulty of this whole situation was threading the needle in such a way to get both the Kanamori vassals and Motonari on their side. Katsu and Yoshimoto had yet to manage that task, for Motonari simply shrugged away all hints of that accusation. "Heh. This is all very interesting. I don’t care if Iekane is offing his Pap, it all ends up the same in the end. Imagawa ya in for destroying Nobunaga and getting this party started or not?"
"The desire of my vassals is clear." Yoshimoto snapped his fan shut. "That said, I do not agree that Sakai is a worthwhile target." Did that translate into ‘not interested in wanting to stop Yoshiaki’? Or could Mitsuhide count on Yoshimoto’s aid?
"Iekane when you caused the cart accident, was your target me... or was it Hiko?" Katsuko sent her former friend a lethal looking glare.
Iekane caused that accident? Why hadn’t she told him that? As far as Mitsuhide knew, Iekane had not been to Sakai. Or was this something she’d only recently discovered and not had time to share with him?
"Accident?" Iekane laughed, and turned to look at the guardsmen, sending them a ‘do you believe this nonsense?’ look. "Kaya, you've always been clumsy. And little boys, well, they can get into so much mischief."
Interesting. It seemed that Katsuko had just led Iekane into a trap.
"Lord Motonari… Has Iekane ever met Hiko?" Her posture was triumphant as she snapped that trap closed. Mitsuhide felt a quick shot of pride in her interrogation skills.
Motonari frowned. "No. He ain’t been to Sakai. Do you have a point, spy? Or are ya wasting time waiting for reinforcements?"
"How does Iekane know Hiko is a little boy?" She took a deep breath, and spoke faster. "Hiko is in danger, from Iekane. Before my former master disappeared, he sent me a letter, asking me to find Hiko and protect him from Iekane."
Akihira’s letter… if only he’d let her have it back earlier… could this have been prevented? What did Hiko have to do with Iekane and Akihira?
"Why, why would I care about some street kid?" Mitsuhide was looking at Katsuko’s face when Iekane asked, and he caught her hesitation. She doesn’t know.
"Because," Yoshimoto must have noticed her panic as well, and began spinning a tale. "Hiko is actually Mozumi's son. His blood son. Hiko's mother was one of Mozumi's concubines. But Mozumi's second wife Osumi was jealous of Niwa, and arranged for an attempt on her life. Frightened for her safety and realizing she was carrying a baby, Niwa decided to fake her death, at least until the child was born. Unfortunately, during childbirth, poor Niwa’s death became a reality. This was when her sister decided to raise Hiko as her own. She already had a daughter, Sho, and the children were devoted to each other."
It was a wild tale, full of the Imagawa’s flair for the dramatic. Mitsuhide noted it was partially striking sympathy from the Kanamori guards and vassals, and was gaining a little ground on Motonari as well.
"And that is why Iekane plans to attack Sakai. It would be easy enough to kill one small boy in the confusion and make it look like an accident of war." Katsuko seemed more confident in this answer, an answer that Mitsuhide internally agreed might be effective on Motonari, whom he knew was not convinced that Sakai was an appropriate target for the shogun’s forces.
"That's ridiculous." Iekane addressed Motonari, "Lord Imagawa has spent so much time on the arts that it’s rotted his brain. No true warrior would believe such a fanciful tale."
But the Kanamori were on the edge of believing it, and Mitsuhide added in his part to tilt the balance in Katsuko’s direction. “Mozumi did have a concubine by name of Niwa.”
Iekane looked hesitantly over his shoulder but Mitsuhide was already hiding his face. He placed his hand in front of his mouth and directed his voice so that it appeared to be coming from the vassals. A stage trick, but a useful one. “Lady Osumi was the jealous type.”
“Are you really believing this nonsense?” Iekane’s voice was shaking. A cornered beast is a dangerous one. As he spoke, fumbled for something he had in his kimono. Something that made Katsuko turn pale, her fear visible even in this deepening night. Was he armed with one of those Nanban pistols?
It was only a split second of hesitation while he tried to calculate whether he could stop Iekane from shooting without jeopardizing his own mission. Failure in either could spell disaster for not only Katsuko but also Nobunaga. How could he weigh one against the other?
How could he weigh his head against his heart?
Before he could determine the best course of action, Katsuko gave him one last look, then before he could stop her, she jumped on Iekane. Mitsuhide leaped after, this time knowing he could use the excuse of protecting the Kanamori to grab her, but for some reason, Iekane pulled her close, and let the motion carry both over the side of the castle.
Mitsuhide put on a burst of speed and lunged for her, his hands only reaching empty air.
It wasn’t that far to the ground, a ground covered in soft snow… a fall from that distance would have been survivable. Even so, Mitsuhide would have forgiven if he had shut his eyes to the sight of her body hitting the earth.
But he didn’t.
Which was how he was able to witness Katsuko and Iekane vanishing into a shimmer of thin air.
“What happened to… ah…” Yoshimoto trailed off, but Mitsuhide caught his tone of voice. It was the voice of someone who had made a realization. Yoshimoto looked at him, and his eyes widened. Hm, it seemed that he had not been informed of Mitsuhide’s presence here.
“You know something.” It was only his disguise that stopped him from grabbing Yoshimoto by the neck and dangling him over the edge.
“I promise to explain… later. If you will back me up now.” Without giving Mitsuhide a chance to respond, Yoshimoto whipped around and addressed the vassals. “Witchcraft! The Kanamori imposter has escaped into the spirit realm and stolen my personal guard in the process.”
“Master Iekane was Yokai! Before they vanished, he revealed his true form is that of a Tengu.” Mitsuhide turned to the Kanamori guards. “We have been misled by a demon.”
“Yer not a Kana-“ Motonari scowled in his direction, then apparently decided he had had enough of the Kanamori and Yoshiaki in general. “Never should have trusted that the shogun had the brains to pull this off.” He made a mocking bow toward Mitsuhide. “Until later.”
Then he stalked away.
Mitsuhide debated stopping him, but Goro was still outside the castle, and was smart enough to follow Motonari back to his lair, back to where Kennyo was holed up as well. At the moment, Yoshiaki was still the more dangerous of the two, and stopping the shogun was his primary mission.
And at least in this, he could keep an eye on Yoshimoto, ready to question him about Katsuko’s mysterious disappearance.
Tumblr media
It was well into mid-morning before Yoshimoto and Mitsuhide were able to have their promised talk. With a bit of prompting from Mitsuhide, Mozumi had tottered up from his sickbed, and in no uncertain terms, told his vassals he was honoring an alliance with Nobunaga. Generally disgusted by the attitude of both the shogun and the too-proud Imagawa vassals, the Kanamori vassals and guards evicted their former allies.
Yoshimoto seemed to have exhausted his supply of diplomacy and was unable to convince his vassals to return to Kasugayama. Therefore, when Mitsuhide had finally followed the man back to his quarters, it was to watch him pack his things in order to journey with Yoshiaki. This was a journey that the Imagawa Prince was clearly dreading. “However, if I am with the shogun, I may be able to distract him from his plans, at least until he meets with an unfortunate accident.”
Mitsuhide raised his eyebrow but did not comment. In truth, whatever Yoshimoto was going to have to do to “distract” the shogun sounded even less pleasant than any plans to assassinate him.
“Yoshiaki is not good for this country.” Yoshimoto’s voice was quiet but full of conviction. “I am uncertain if Nobunaga is the answer, and certainly my cousin does not believe so. But Yoshiaki’s use of my vassals is a mess of my making, and I see now that I must do what I can to unsnarl it. In any case, even with what is left of the Imagawa clan, the shogun does not currently have the resources to make trouble.”
Though this was indisputable Mitsuhide resolved to keep an eye on the situation, well aware that even with a small force, the shogun was capable of plotting revenge. But he had a more urgent question to be answered. “Do you know where Katsuko is?”
“I expect she has returned to her original time.” Yoshimoto rummaged in the shelf and pulled out a familiar pack. Katsuko’s. “She is from the future. About four hundred and fifty years forward in time. And… if you think such a thing is impossible, I suggest you discuss the matter with Mai.” He plopped the pack in Mitsuhide’s hands.
He hadn’t realized he was even reaching for it.
It sounded less plausible than Yoshimoto’s tale of Hiko’s origins. If Mitushide hadn’t seen Katsuko and Iekane disappear between the castle walls and the ground, he would have accused Yoshimoto of telling more folk tales. But the explanation of time-travelling explained so much, not just about Katsuko, but also Mai. “She told you of this?”
Yet another bit of Katsuko that Yoshimoto knew and Mitsuhide did not. It… hurt that she had never confided this in him.
“She did not originally, though we have discussed it. I have been aware of the existence of time travel for several years, and Kenshin’s ninja is from the future as well.” Yoshimoto kept his focus on packing up his own belongings. Even though the man took care to neatly fold his clothing, his hands were shaking. “If I must spend the next few months with Yoshiaki, I will be unable to give Katsuko her things, not to mention her horse… if she returns. I am given to understand that she comes from a time of peace. Perhaps she has had enough of these troubled times and the people in it.”
Perhaps. Perhaps she is safer where she is now….
Tumblr media
"I'm not going to Azuchi. There’s no place for me."
"You undervalue yourself. If we don’t find Akihira, you have plenty of skills to make yourself valuable at Azuchi. Your language facility alone would be enough for Nobunaga to employ you as a translator."
“I know. Actually he offered me a job the first time I met him. But that wasn't what I meant." She had then put her hand on his heart. "There's no room for me here."
Mitsuhide rubbed his chest, as if he could still feel that touch of her hand as she reached for something he had no business giving away. Something he was no longer certain he had.
“Shall I unpack this?” Kyubei’s voice was full of impatience.
Mitsuhide looked up from the pile of reports on his desk, to find his vassal uncharacteristically out of sorts. He was holding the pack of Katsu’s things that Mitsuhide had brought back from Genba. Though he had turned the horse over to Ieyasu, who appeared to get along very well with the temperamental beast, Mitsuhide had kept control over the rest. Control… but he had yet to look through them. (He had of course, taken the time to decode his handmade copy of Akihira’s letter – however it did not contain anything beyond what he had already learned from Yoshimoto).
Her personal items… though it was unlikely she would ever return for them, it now seemed… impolite… to search them. However, to refuse Kyubei’s request would only make the man overly suspicious. “Dear me, I had forgotten I had that. Yes, of course.”
He bent his head over the correspondence. As expected, Goro had managed to track Motonari to the Chugoku region, which was still home to the Mouri clan. Unfortunately, he had not yet located where Motonari had stashed Kennyo, as it seemed they were indeed lying low until Spring. Meanwhile the Imagawa and Yoshimoto had not even bothered to keep their escort of Yoshiaki secret, and had blazed an easy to follow trail to the port city of Tsuruga. Thus far, the Shogun was simply throwing his weight around the city without managing to increase his meager forces. And…
A flash of turquoise silk caught his attention. The yukata he had had made for Katsuko. It seemed that she had kept it. Or at least tried to before she’d been pulled back to her original time. He watched Kyubei shake out the wrinkles, and then a scroll of paper fell out of the garment.
It rolled within Mitsuhide’s reach. Without thinking, he opened it, and was surprised to see a drawing of a young man. What was she doing with this? The drawing was old… creased… the paper thinning as if she had taken it out and looked at it many many times. The subject … was a familiar face.
“Katsu’s brother.” Kyubei answered a question he had not asked. “She has been searching for him for as long as I have known her. Apparently they were attacked by bandits and he was carried away, possibly sold to the Nanban.”
No he was not. Katsu’s brother was currently living in Sakai, working as a healer. Toshiie.
“Will you return to check on her?”
The man backed further away from the bed, glancing down at his stained clothing. “No… I can’t. Not like this.”  With that, he fled from the room.
Only after it was clear the healer had left the building did Shojumaru speak into the silence. “Toshiie is a strange one, but he’s saved many considered too injured to survive.”
If only he had thought to ask her brother’s name when she mentioned he’d disappeared. Or asked even one question about him. Of course she would have devoted her life to finding him… and of course she transferred that obsession to Aki when he disappeared as well. Having already lost her home, her mother, and her brother, she would be fixed upon finding the one person left to her.
The one person who could be left for her.
“Kyubei.”
“I am standing right in front of you, Lord Mitshide.” It was said with touch of dry humor.
“So you are.” He tapped the drawing. “This man is living in Sakai as a healer. He should be easy for you to find.”
Kyubei nodded. “And bring him to Azuchi?”
He considered for a moment. It had been clear that Toshiie had not wanted to be recognized by Katsu, had not wanted her to see him. “Not yet. Not unless he seems to be preparing to leave the city. Simply… watch the man, and report on his well-being.” If Toshiie needed help, Mitsuhide would provide it. If he wanted to return to the future to be with his sister, Mitsuhide would figure out how to make it happen. She deserved that much, at least.
“I will do so.” He laid Katsu’s belongings on Mitsuhide’s desk, bowed, and took himself out of the room.
Never happy with a task half-done, Mitsuhide finished unpacking her things, and finding a place for them amongst his own. Though he deemed her return unlikely, there was at least some comfort in placing her small shogi set on the shelf, putting her clothing next to his in the closet, and setting aside a place on his desk for her brush and ink. At the bottom of her pack, he found another letter, this one from the ninja Sasuke, though it simply named two places, Honno-jo and Togakushi, each followed by a series of dates. He suspected that this might be an item more easily decoded by Mai, so he set it aside.
Then, he returned to his report, making plans for his next journey, whether it be to Chugoku to root out Kennyo, or to Tsuruga to help bring about Yoshiaki’s “unfortunate accident.” Wherever his lord needed him to go.
He had work to do. Work that no one else could accomplish.
That no one else should be asked to accomplish.
Tumblr media
It was to be Tsuruga, it seemed. A secret trip, so secret that Nobunaga would not even be aware of it until after Mitsuhide had left.
Instead of outright telling Mitsuhide to go to Chugoku, Nobunaga had surprisingly assigned that task to Keiji, who… Mitsuhide supposed was capable enough to avoid getting kidnapped by Motonari, but didn’t quite seem terribly skilled in… as Katsu would describe it, ‘the art of being invisible in plain sight.’ Nor had his lord believed that sending Mitsuhide to Tsuruga was necessary. “To make any move upon Yoshiaki while the man is not actively rebelling would be considered an insult to Emperor Ōgimachi. In your own words, the shogun is not keeping his activities in Tsuruga a secret. A few spies placed in the city will be sufficient for the winter months. We will lay a trap for him in spring, should he attempt another attack.”
With the rest of Nobunaga’s council as witness, Mitsuhide could do nothing but publically agree to Nobunaga’s plan. In private… well, Nobunaga hadn’t specifically said that Mitsuhide couldn’t be one of those spies.
And so, it was under the cover of darkness that Mitsuhide stepped out of the entry of his manor.
Whoosh.
Clang.
The telltale sound of a sword whistling through the air gave him enough warning to meet that sword with his own, easily diverting the strike… although his attacker hadn’t been aiming to kill. “My dear Hideyoshi, if you wished to pay me a visit, you had only to knock upon the door.”
Hideyoshi gestured to the door in question with his weapon. “After you.”
“As you can see my friend, I am on my way out. Perhaps tomorrow.” Or in a few weeks, when I have returned. When Hideyoshi lifted his sword again, Mitsuhide sighed. “I’d prefer not to take arms against you.” He could, if he put his mind to it, best Hideyoshi in battle, but that would defeat the purpose of leaving Azuchi undetected. More than likely they’d just send Masamune after him. Another who could not master the art of invisibility.
“I insist.” Hideyoshi normal manner of speaking was one of gentle bossiness, however in certain instances, he could become as immobile as a statue. This, clearly, was one of those instances.
Stubborn ass.
Bowing to the inevitable, Mitsuhide went back inside, into his office, with Hideyoshi close at his heels, so close that if he stopped suddenly, he was certain that the man would slam into him. “Do you not trust me? I am wounded to the core.”
“Of course I don’t trust you. Not in this at least.” Hideyoshi waited until Mitsuhide was seated before settling down between the desk and the door. “I would trust you with my life. I would not trust you with your own.”
“Perhaps I was simply on my way out for a late night stroll.” He brought out a bottle of sake, and two cups. He would not need to fight his way out… he could simply drink his way out, as Hideyoshi had a lower tolerance for alcohol.
“You were not. You plan to set yourself up as a traitor, offer aid to Yoshiaki, while the rest of us wonder how much is an act.” Hideyoshi took the offered sake cup, but set it in front of him untouched. “Much as you did this summer, when you pretended to support Kennyo. Such an act won’t work a second time.”
“On the contrary, most still believe I am a traitor, and those who don’t would not expect me to repeat myself.” He drank his own portion of sake, hoping that Hideyoshi would join automatically out of politeness. When Hideyoshi simply continued to look at him, Mitsuhide poured himself another. It seemed he would not be leaving tonight after all. “You and Mai are exceptions, not the rule.”
For the first time in months, speaking Mai’s name did not cause that internal twist of pain. Apparently what was needed to get past that was to inflect a far deeper wound upon himself.
“You are not required to take on the burdens of all of the unsavory tasks.” If Hideyoshi settled back on his heels, looking as if he intended to spend the night if necessary. This was confirmed when the man gestured to Katsu’s shogi set. “Up for a game?”
“I didn’t realize you played. No… not that one.” Mitsuhide pulled his larger shogi table out from the corner, and withdrew the tiles from the drawer hidden inside.
“I know how to play, but as you are aware, Nobunaga prefers Go. There’s not been any time to play for my own entertainment.” Hideyoshi began setting up the tiles in the wrong order, immediately disproving the ‘know how to play,’ claim. “What is wrong with the other set?”
“Nothing is wrong. It simply does not belong to me.” He considered resetting the tiles in the correct order – or at the very least, flipping the ones that were wrong side up over - before deciding that it might be an interesting experiment to start from this unusual pattern. He therefore set out his own pieces mirroring Hideyoshi’s.
“How did it come to be in your possession?” Again ignoring the conventions of the game, Hideyoshi moved his tile first.
“Katsu… er, Kaya, was not able to take it with her when …” Mitsuhide paused, then figured that Katusko’s origins would not be a surprise to Hideyoshi. “… when she returned to her own time.”
“Did you simply let her go, or did you drive her away?” Hideyoshi moved his rook in a direction that the piece was not legally able to make.
“Are you certain you know the rules of this game?” When Hideyoshi simply answered the question with an ashamed smile, Mitsuhide gave up and began building a fortress with his tiles. “In this particular case, her return was somewhat of an accident of fate.” Or something involved with Iekane’s strange device.
Hideyoshi reached out a finger and knocked over Mitsuhide’s fort. “Was it? And the circumstances that led to this accident? Also fate? Granted, my information is third hand, as I am only aware of what Kyubei told Mai.”
“Kyubei is too loyal to gossip.” He thought a moment. “Mai charmed the information out of him.”
“While I’m certain she could do just that, in this case, your vassal is worried about you. You have jumped from one dangerous escapade to another without stopping to rest.” Hideyoshi nodded at the pack that Mitsuhide had brought back inside. “That seems rather a large bag if you were simply going for a midnight stroll.”
“Oh my, you do have a rather liberal definition of escapades. I prefer the word missions, and they are vital to the health of Nobunaga’s cause.” Although as honest as Hideyoshi was, maybe he would never understand the necessity of having one person willing to crawl through the muck for the good of the whole.
“Must it be you? Must it be now?” The question was posed philosophically. There was no anger in Hideyoshi’s tone. He began picking up the tiles and rearranging them again, this time in the correct formation on the board.
“It absolutely cannot be you. Not only it is essential that there be one person on the Devil King’s side with an unblemished reputation… you could not do that to Mai.” Hadn’t the entire experience with Motonari convinced Hideyoshi of that?
“Ah.”
“’Ah?’” Mitsuhide put his hands in his lap in an attitude of peaceful silence. After a long moment, he said, “You must be aware that I am well versed in the art of interrogation. Dropping a one syllable ah and waiting only works if you target feels he has something he must say. Therefore. Ah?”
“You believed, perhaps still believe, that you are in love with Mai.” Hideyoshi professionally tossed five pawns in the air, and counted the results. “I win first move.”
“Setting aside the issue of the truth of that statement, you can’t possibly think I would attempt to take her from you. I’ve known from the start that you and Mai are two halves of one.” He watched as Hideyoshi play an advanced opening. Apparently during the first ‘game’ Hideyoshi had been teasing him. Interesting. He hadn’t thought the man had it in him.
“Yes, we are.” Hideyoshi smiled. “I suspect, however, that you also believe that we,” he gestured to himself then to Mitsuhide, “are also two halves of one. I am the light half and you are the dark half.”
“Interesting theory.” Mitsuhide studied the game board, and realized that he would have to work to win this match.
“There’s more.”
“Oh do enlighten me.”
“I suspect that you were less in love with Mai, than with the idea of sacrificing a chance of happiness, as penance for the things you believe you must do.” Without even a shred of reluctance, Hideyoshi advanced the knight. Demon killer opening.
It was also, one of Mitsuhide’s favorite openings. He knew how to counteract it. He moved a pawn to protect the bishop.
Hideyoshi wasn’t finished with lecture. “Do you think that because I’m the right hand and you’re the left, that if I am happy, you must be miserable? You are permitted happiness, my friend… you only need to reach for it.”
“My happiness, as it were, is about four hundred and fifty years in the future. That is a bit of a reach.” Instead, he reached for his sake cup, and finding it empty, refilled it. “Even if there weren’t some rather pressing issues to take care of here. Kennyo. Motonari. Yoshiaki. Not to mention Kenshin and Shingen.” Although from what Yoshimoto had said, it appeared that Shingen had also travelled to the future. He and Katsuko might even be in the same place.
And… that was something he didn’t want to contemplate.
“Mitsunari has analyzed the situation and does not believe any of them will make a move until Spring. That gives us five months to plan. That also gives you some time to determine how to make amends to your Kaya. Time that will be available to you if you give up on these suicide missions.” Hideyoshi’s silver general ruthlessly tore a hole in Mitsuhide’s line of pawns.
“She is … not mine.” Even discounting the rest of Hideyoshi’s words, discounting the issue of time travel, or the necessity of the missions at hand, even if he could believe that the Gods would permit one such as himself to have a love… “My life is dangerous, and she would never be safe.”
“No one is safe anywhere, and would you not rather keep her at your side, than wonder what sort of danger she has gotten herself is into alone?” Perhaps thinking he had gotten the final word, Hideyoshi was silent for a while, as they moved from the opening of the game, until… “Check.”
Mitsuhide blinked as he searched the board for options. How had this happened? He never lost.
“I cheated when your back was turned to get more sake,” Hideyoshi said, unprompted. “No one is purely good or purely evil.”
Message received.
Be honest. Can you live without her?
No. He could not.
For that matter, he supposed he was curious to see if Hideyoshi could handle it if Katsuko went full on chaos goblin in Azuchi. It would serve him right if she did.
Mitsuhide picked up the piece of paper with the mysterious numbers and dates. “I suppose I should ask Mai what she knows about time travel.”
“Oh Good!” Without warning, Mai suddenly bounded into the room. At Mitsuhide’s raised eyebrow, she added, “Kyubei let me in after you guys. I was the back-up plan if Hideyoshi couldn’t change your mind.”
She plopped down in Hideyoshi’s lap. “Now… let me tell you about a modern concept we call the Grand Romantic Gesture. It’s got to be big, not just flowers, but something meaningful. Oh, and when you get settled we need to go on a double date…”
Hideyoshi met Mitsuhide’s gaze. “I believe I will have another drink now.”

“What do you mean, ‘Yukimura, I need you to pretend to be my fake lover to get Shingen to take a hint.’?” Yukimura and Mai were enjoying some late afternoon tea in his room, when Mai had proposed this idea to him rather nonchalantly. “Are you crazy? He can read me like an open book. He also knows I’d never date an ugly boar woman like you.”
Mai huffed, blowing air out of her hair, making her bangs fly up and lay askew on her forehead. “Don’t say it like that Yuki! Learn some tact, wouldya?”
“Oh shaddup Mai,” Yuki said, gesturing at her with his full teacup. “You know it’s true!”
“It isn’t true and I’m not a boar woman!” Mai argued, her brow furrowing in frustration. “I happen to be a very graceful woman. Like… like a swan!”
Yuki snorted into his teacup. “Yeah, that works.” He leaned in closer, glancing at her neck. “You do have an abnormally long and curvy neck.”
Mai’s cheeks flushed in embarrassment, the way they always do when she gets into a heated argument with Yukimura. He always found a way to get under her skin, and she usually finds herself wondering just why she chooses to spend so much time with him when he’s back in Kasaguyama. This time was no different.
“Yukimura, I’m serious! Shingen won’t leave me alone. He’s constantly calling me a princess, or a goddess, or his angel. I want him to stop!” Mai slammed down her teacup a little too hard, forcing the table to wobble more than Yukimura would’ve liked. “He’s all bark and no bite. Just smile nicely and move on.”
She looked at him with wide eyes, almost panicked - like a deer in headlights. “But he has tried to bite me! Quite recently, might I add.”
“He’s old, probably turning senile too.” Yuki responded, reaching for more hot water to warm his tea that had turned cold. “And shouldn’t we do everything we can to make sure grandpa’s are happy in their old ages?” There was a hint of sadness in Yuki’s eyes as he looked intently at the floor, and Mai dropped whatever retort she had as Shingen brazenly waltzed into Yukimura’s room, pausing only slightly when he noticed Mai sitting nonchalantly on his friend’s floor. “Well, well, well. What do we have here? Yuuuuki, you didn’t mention anything about having any female visitors this afternoon.”
Shingen’s shark-like, suave grin had Mai rolling her eyes, biting her lip so as not to snap back at Shingen. She was in Yukimura’s room, and they were good friends so she wouldn’t disrespect Yuki like that, as much as she wished she could. So, Yukimura’s response to Shingen had Mai, whipping her head up to stare wide eyed at her friend. “Please don’t disrespect Mai like that again, Shingen. The woman I love is more than just a female visitor, maybe you were mistaking me for you?”
Shingen faltered slightly, his grin slipping for a moment before returning. “The woman you love, eh?” He questioned, bringing his hand up to rub at his chin. “And don’t think I didn’t hear you insult me. I’m just in a particularly good mood today and will let it slide.” His gaze fixed on Mai now. “Mai, you didn’t tell me that you and Yuki had this… relationship. No wonder you never took me up on any of my nightly invitations.”
Before Mai could lose her courage, she shoved her hand into Yuki’s, gripping his calloused hand in her own sweaty one. “Yup! I couldn’t betray my Yukimura like that. Sorry Shingen, I should’ve been more honest. My sweetie pie is just very shy, as I’m sure you know well. Right Yuki?”
“Hey! I’m not your–” He cut himself off as Mai dug her nails harshly into her skin, shooting daggers at her before plastering the fakest smile on his face she had ever seen. “You’re right, boo bear. I was a bit embarrassed to admit my feelings for Mai to you, Shingen. That’s why I asked Mai to not mention anything. We’ve been meeting late at night every night, but today I couldn’t bear to wait any longer to see her, so I asked her to meet me for some afternoon tea.”
“I see,” Shingen nodded, eying their tightly clenched hands. “It seems as if I’ve interrupted something, so I’ll leave you two lovebirds to it. Yuki, you know where to find me if you need any tips or suggestions on how to keep a woman happy.” “Goodbye, Shingen.” Yukimura dismissed his elder, his eyes not once leaving Mai’s face as his grip on her hand loosened into a gentle hold.
“Goodbye, you two.” Shingen turned away, and as he exited the doorway, he called over his shoulder. “By the way, if you want anyone to actually believe you two are in love, you better start working on your acting.”
Shingen’s laughter could be heard from down the hall, and Yukimura hastily jerked his hand away from Mai’s rubbing it on his kimono. “Your hand was so sweaty! It was gross!”
Mai recoiled, shoving her finger in his face to point at him. “Yeah well, we wouldn’t have had to hold hands if you didn’t decide to pretend to be in a relationship with me!”
“You asked me to, woman!” Yukimura swiped Mai’s hand away from his face, capturing her hand in his once again, and clumsily interlocking them. “And this is how you hold hands! Not whatever you tried to do before!”
“Why are you always so critical of me?!” Mai asked moving to stand up and rip her hand out of Yukimura’s. He didn’t let go though, instead opting to use their linked hands to tug her back down, tumbling into his lap.
“Because you’re a boar woman, and someone’s gotta keep you in check.” Yukimura’s voice was deeper now, his lips brushing against the shell of her ear. “Plus, you seem to like it. Always asking to spend time with me.”
“I–” Mai faltered, turning to meet Yuki’s gaze, not realizing just how close he had gotten. “You’re just sometimes more tolerable than the rest, is all.” Yukimura squeezed her hand, and a surge of electricity shot through her body. “If I’m tolerable, you should reevaluate your taste in company. Sounds like we need to get you more air.” “Hey Yuki,” Mai muttered, their noses so close they were almost touching.
“Yeah?” He whispered back, his eyes searching her own for any sort of clue as to what she was gonna say next. “Shut up!” She exclaimed and shot up from his lap, escaping from his grip as giggles bubbled from her lips while he scrambled to chase after her, muttering under his breath that he was gonna get her when she least expected it.
On the other side of the wall, unbeknownst to Yukimura and Mai, Shingen and Sasuke stood shoulder to shoulder, exchanging knowing looks as they heard their two friends’ laughter ringing through the hallways of the otherwise quiet castle.

[fic] a quiet glow

a quiet glow
Ikemen Sengoku | Naoe Kanetsugu x Main Character!Reader | G | 1.3k words ao3 link
Making no sound Yet burning with love, Fireflies far More than chirping insects, Move me. —Minamoto no Shigeyuki
A/N: For @aquagirl1978 and @violettduchess's Summer Days Sultry Nights event. It's my first time participating in an event! :D The prompt I chose is fireflies and it's a Kanetsugu fluff fic. Dividers by saradika. Forgive the slightly anachronistic prose lol
Tumblr media
I haven’t seen fireflies since I was a child.
It had been a passing remark, a slide of fingers across the textured roll of fabric patterned with glowing fireflies. In your gaze an odd sheen flickered and faded – blinked away – that Kanetsugu caught, stole his steps and his attention. But you’d already moved on to the next item.
He lingered, however, arrested by this seemingly negligible thing, eyes falling upon the object in question – a column of benighted forest hue, spattered with yellow-green dots that counted as lights, nostalgic in a way that invited a quiet contemplation.
You hadn’t seen fireflies since you were a child.
Later, as he’d lay with you on the futon, your warmth seeping into his skin, Kanetsugu would dream of floating orbs amidst a beautiful night, playfully dancing, up and up and up.
Tumblr media
“Summer is upon us,” Sasuke said, falling into step beside him.
Kanetsugu ignored the man. He had just finished meeting with Lord Kenshin for an update about his territories and was on his way to the library when the ninja suddenly appeared.
It didn’t deter Sasuke at least. “Make sure your face is UV-protected.”
Not knowing what that meant, Kanetsugu continued walking.
But Sasuke kept on, unbothered by the lack of conversational reciprocation, “You’ve already done well with your body – covered and all that.” He glanced at Kanetsugu’s clothes, then hummed in thought. “I suppose it’s not that difficult to invent sunscreen …”
Kanetsugu let Sasuke talk some more.
“That reminds me – according to my calculations, it’s approximately three weeks from now that the Nigami Firefly Festival will begin.”
That rendered Kanetsugu pause.
He turned to Sasuke, felt his brows dip low. “What?”
“I once took my niece to a firefly viewing in Joetsu – which, by the way, is the future name of –”
“I see,” Kanetsugu interrupted. He pivoted to another hallway and left the ninja blinking, confused.
He’d forgo the library today, it seemed.
Tumblr media
Lord Kenshin ordered Kanetsugu to quell a minor rebellion three towns away. That required him to travel a week or two, depending on the size of the men and the number of horses his lord would allow him.
On the way to his destination, he and his men stopped by a village at the foot of a mountain to spend the night. The villagers were welcoming of them, having met Kanetsugu a year before in another mission. He was a familiar and memorable face, one that brought a delighted smile upon the village leader – and a score of young women.
“Lord Kanetsugu,” the leader greeted him warmly, “it is an honor to have you rest for the night in our humble village.”
They made him and his men a sumptuous dinner – rather, a feast – which he tried to refuse at first. But his companions stared at the offerings with great eagerness, so Kanetsugu relented with a condition or two.
In the middle of the meal a girl came up to him with large, trusting eyes and an enthusiastic smile, and told him, “There are pretty dancing lights outside!”
Food set aside, Kanetsugu permitted the child to lead him to the forest right outside the village. They walked for a while, the child never breaking pace, and before Kanetsugu questioned the girl’s knowledge of the area she skidded to a halt, spun around to grab Kanetsugu’s hand, and with a vibrating grin she proclaimed, “We’re here!”
Kanetsugu blinked and looked around, and found what the girl was talking about. He heard himself take a sharp inhale, his body frozen taut with a memory.
Moments later he patted the girl’s hand on his and murmured, “Thank you.”
As they stood there, an idea formed within Kanetsugu’s mind.
Tumblr media
“Clear your schedule for a week,” Kanetsugu announced right after coming back from his mission, opening the sliding door of his office with solid intent. “We will go somewhere.”
Perched at the center of the room, you paused from your work, wide-eyed surprise melting into excitement. The garment you’d been commissioned splayed on your lap like fishtail. “Oh! Is it a date?”
A barbed denial spiked through his mouth, but you’re blooming like an eager flower facing the sun, so he swallowed that reflex. Instead he answered, “Yes.”
Your smile rivaled the sun, your hands curling to form a heart. Kanetsugu squinted, and shifted his stance. “Then I’m looking forward to it!”
Kanetsugu exhaled, tamped down the rush of heat in his veins, and went back to work.
Tumblr media
The journey back to the village went faster than last time. The residents welcomed them again cordially, and you and Kanetsugu stayed there for a while before he took your hand and led you outside.
He remembered the directions the little girl took the first time. Night had arrived, the full moon illumining the leaves with its silver light. It was also a good time for stargazing, but Kanetsugu had another plan in mind.
“Where are we going?” you asked, your voice inquisitive, your hand kept warm in his.
When Kanetsugu peered at your expression, shafts of moonlight sliced through the canopy and grazed parts of your face, one iris aglow – a tenebrist diptych of curiosity. It made you seem ethereal, a part of the forest night’s wonder. Something translucent and could easily slip through fingers. Kanetsugu let out a quiet breath, returned his attention to the front, quelled the nervous pace of his heart.
He stopped all of a sudden, which elicited a sound from you, almost colliding with him. Still holding your hand, Kanetsugu whirled around, and the spill of moonlight shifted to illuminate your whole face.
“Watch,” he said.
And you studied your surroundings, waiting for anything. Then: one by one, in the near-complete darkness, they sprung to life. Fireflies. Little yellow-gold lights playfully whirling and twirling in the air. One brushed past Kanetsugu's nose and then flickered away, and your silverbell laughter filled the spattered night.
“They’re beautiful,” you tell Kanetsugu, the curve of your mouth soft and warm. You extended a hand, palm up, and one hovered for a couple of seconds then moved on. The look you gave him afterwards arrested him. “Thank you for taking me here.”
“After what you’d said before, I had to do something at the very least.”
There’s a puzzled silence, your head tilting in question.
“You haven’t seen fireflies since you were a child,” he elaborated.
It wasn’t immediate when you put the pieces together. But when you did, surprise rippled throughout your body, and Kanetsugu was tempted to push closed your gaping mouth.
“Did I say that?”
“Yes.”
“When?”
Kanetsugu sighed. “When you were perusing some fabrics in the market. There was one designed with fireflies, and you commented upon it.”
“Oh,” you said, dazed. “You remembered that? I didn’t!”
“Of course I remembered,” he said, tone almost offended. But then – a whisper: “I remember everything when it comes to you.”
It sounded like a confession, but you knew the depth of Kanetsugu’s love and devotion. Still – it felt embarrassing. Vulnerable, even.
Still.
“Kanetsugu,” you breathed. Like a prayer. Like a marvel. Like the hundreds of fireflies dancing around them.
Kanetsugu swallowed.
“I love you,” you said, impeccably, implacably, an arrow hitting dead center. “I love you so much, Kanetsugu.”
He exhaled a long breath. “I know. And I you.”
You smiled, and it was more radiant and more beautiful than the fireflies and the moon and the star-filled sky tonight. You stepped closer to Kanetsugu, wrapped your arms around him tight, and sighed happily. He reciprocated the act, his arms molding snugly across your back.
Around you the fireflies continued dancing, their lights burning brightly.

Yore Of Shooting Stars - Nobunaga
Every year on my birthday I post a little something to commemorate Nobunaga's death anniversary which so happens to be the same day, I wanted to write a little something to keep up the tradition. I hope you like it.
Words = 364
Warnings = established relationship, kissing
Excerpt = "I hope the stars were not listening to our wishes"
Tumblr media
Summer was beginning and the nights were getting shorter and hotter. Y/n and Nobunaga were out on the balcony of Nobunaga's tenshu, watching the stars in the humid breeze. Nobunaga's arms were wrapped around Y/n as she was seated in his lap.
Suddenly a bright light shot across the deep cerulean sky and Y/n quickly clasped her hands together and closed her eyes.
Nobunaga angled his eyes down towards her as he watched her effulgent and elysian visage in all her glory. He waited until she her interesting action was finished but it ended up being protracted and he became impatient.
He stroked one long finger down the side of her face to draw her eyes to his. "What were you doing just now?" he inquired in confusion as her eyes flittered open to meet his.
"A shooting star just went by so I was making a wish" Y/n spoke as if it was obvious
Nobunaga hummed but before he could answer, another bright light arched across the sky.
"Quick Nobunaga, clasp your hands together and make a wish!" Y/n enthusiastically pointed out in a slight panic.
He did as she said and put his hands together in silence, he wished for the first thing that came to mind. When he opened his eyes, Y/n's curious eyes looked eager to hear his wish.
"That was a pointless activity, the stars cannot answer a person's wishes" Nobunaga boldly declared. Y/n's expression fell a little upon hearing his opinion.
"However, sharing a superstition you believe in was interesting but I hope the stars were not listening to our wishes" he declared as Y/n tilted her head in puzzlement.
"How come?" she asked inquisitively.
Out of nowhere, Nobunaga pulled her by the waist towards him and planted a deep kiss upon her lips of pulchritude before pulling away.
He looked straight into her eyes as he replied...
"Because it is my duty as your boyfriend to fulfill all your wishes. I won't let the night sky steal that from me"
Y/n chuckled quietly as she stared in mild shock, adoration and love for Nobunaga overflowing in her heart.

. his father’s smile .
. nobunaga x reader . 2k words . f!reader, pregnancy ment, mother!reader .
It had been three years since I was forced to part ways with the Sengoku period, and all the wonderful people I had come to think of not only as close friends, but as family. Those smiling, pouting, laughing, grumpy faces were a part of my life for three months before heaven itself tore me away. Not a day went by where I didn’t have to hold back tears and clutch my chest, trying to suppress the pain of being away from the one and only place I felt like home.
And the man I loved most.
Oda Nobunaga: The first of the three unifiers of Japan, and one of the most ruthless rulers in Japanese history. He was cruel and calculating to the outside world, but I’d come to know him as an ambitious, strong man shaped by circumstances outside of his control. The way he held me and looked at me couldn’t be done by a man who was legitimately as devilish and evil as he was made out to be. He filled my days with warmth, he protected me, and he loved me more than anyone else in the world. The stone he commissioned outside Azuchi with my name proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt. But there was one thing he didn’t know.
“Mama!”
I wasn’t the only one who left in the wormhole. When I returned to the 21st century, I found out I was pregnant with his child, and soon birthed his son. A little, mischievous, baby boy who smiled just like his father. His name was Nobuhiko, and he was the only thing I had left to remind myself of the man I loved more than life itself.
“What is it, sweetie?”
“Can I have a candy?”
He really was his father’s son. Sweet tooth and all. I couldn’t help but grin. “One, and that’s it. You’re going to spoil your appetite.”
Nobuhiko giggled and stumbled after me as I went to get his favorite candies from the jar. When I gave it to him, he took it and gobbled it up immediately.
“Hey, you need to savor those! Don’t just hork them down,” I laughed.
“Sorry Mama!”
“And what do we say?”
“Thank you Mama. I love you.”
“I love you too.” I sighed and picked my toddler up, making sure he was level with me. “Nobuhiko, I have something important to tell you. And you’re going to need to be a big boy for this.” He tilted his head, obviously not yet prepared to react to what I was going to say next. “We’re moving. Tonight. We’re going to pack up our most important things and say goodbye to our home forever.”
“Why?”
“Well… Do you remember when I said your daddy is somewhere very far away?”
“Yeah…”
“We’re going to see him. We’re going to be with daddy forever.”
Nobuhiko’s eyes lit up. His jaw practically hit the floor. He instantly began screaming, trying to get out of my arms. “I’m gonna meet Daddy? Are you being for real?!”
“Of course I am! I mean it, honey!”
“We have to get ready! Mama! What are you waiting for?!”
Laughing, I set him down and followed him to his bedroom, where I helped him pack only the most essential things. Favorite toys, blankets, and things the Sengoku couldn’t replace. I’d never seen my son so excited before. I felt horrible when I’d take him to playgroups and he’d be the only one without a father. I couldn’t tell him the truth: That he was born of two different eras altogether. That, realistically, he shouldn’t even exist. But he was only three, still very little. He didn’t grasp how tragic his circumstances were on the outside. Well, hopefully it wouldn’t be tragic for long.
I’d been talking with my friend Sasuke for months, and he said tonight was the night the wormhole was going to open, and we’d all be sent back to the Sengoku. Funny enough, I found myself thinking ‘We’re finally getting sent home.’ The world of 500 years ago had been more of a home to me than anything my own time offered me.
We waited until evening, and took a train to a part of Kyoto I’d become all too familiar with. The very same place the wormhole appeared the first time I’d fallen in. How wonderful it was I’d won fortune’s favor and was able to come here again, this time for good.
“Mama! Uncle Sasuke!” Nobuhiko let go of my hand and sprinted forward to Sasuke, who was waiting for us up ahead. The man smiled and picked Nobuhiko up.
“You’ve grown, young man. Are you ready to go on a trip?”
“I’m gonna go see Daddy! Are you coming too?”
“I absolutely am.” Sasuke waved as I caught up and handed me my son back. “Are you ready, Y/N? Unlike last time, I believe this is the last time the wormhole will be appearing. There truly is no going back once we cross the threshold. Are you sure this is what you want?”
I glanced at Nobuhiko, who still wore the biggest smile on his face. He had his little bag in his hands, with a sailboat on the front. My stomach began doing flips. This was really and truly happening. If we pushed ahead, we’d be back in the company of Nobunaga, and everyone Sasuke and I had come to know and love with the fullest capacity of our hearts. And my family could finally be complete. I kissed Nobuhiko’s cheek and nodded. “This is what I want more than anything in the world.”
“Good.” Sasuke smiled warmly.  “He truly has his father’s smile…”
Thunder roared in Kyoto, and the clouds began to kill the remaining light faster than the setting sun. I braced myself. We knew what was coming now. Nobuhiko began to whimper.
“Mama, I’m scared!”
“Don’t worry, baby. It’ll stop soon.”
Sasuke pulled us close to him, guarding us as the white lightning made its commanding strikes on earth. The wind felt more powerful this time than ever before, and the storm began to blend with Nobuhiko’s cries. I looked over at him as he buried his face in my chest, as if trying to hide himself from God himself. I couldn’t help but repeat myself. “It’ll stop soon! I promise! As long as I’m here, nothing is going to happen to you!”
“Y/N! Look!”
I tore my gaze away, and gasped when I saw the very familiar sight of the wormhole beginning to manifest.
“We need to act now! Just go! Go!” Sasuke cried, ushering all of us forward. I held onto Nobuhiko as tightly as I could, trying to keep my eyes open for his sake. My head spun faster and faster as the fog thickened. My son kept sobbing, completely and utterly helpless to the situation I’d dragged him into. Immediately before blacking out, I could hear him one last time.
“MAMA!”
---------------------------------------
“She’s waking up.”
“How do you know?”
“I can see her moving.”
“That doesn’t mean– Oh! Her eyes are opening!”
…Ieyasu? Mitsunari? I forced my heavy eyelids open, and my surroundings began to make themselves more clear. It worked. I was back home.
“Y/N… Can you hear me?” asked the gentle voice of an angel. Mitsunari looked over at me and smiled. “I can’t believe you’re finally back…”
I nodded, and tried to sit up. “Mitsunari!”
He laughed and nodded. “Welcome home.” He glanced over at Ieyasu, who was trying his hardest to not look over at me. Eventually, he gave in.
“We were worried about you. It’s been three years. We didn’t even think we’d ever see you again.”
“I’d do everything I could to come back!”
“Well you should’ve come sooner.”
I laughed, and so did Ieyasu and Mitsunari. Immediately I was starting to feel better. But I froze. “Where’s–?”
“Your son? He’s being babysat.” Mitsunari smiled and looked at the door. “I can’t believe there’s two Nobunagas around here now.”
“Babysat?”
The door flung open, and in barreled Nobuhiko, dressed in a dashing little yukata. “Mama!!”
“Hey, you can’t–!” Hideyoshi darted in after him, and froze in his place when he saw me. “Y/N! You’re awake!”
I laughed and hugged my son, stroking his jet black hair. “Hideyoshi… I missed you so much!”
He joined the rest of us on the floor and pulled me and Nobuhiko in for a hug. “Thank God you’re safe… We were praying every day you’d make it back to us someday… And your son–! How did–?”
“I had him after I returned,” I explained, hugging Hideyoshi back. “Crazy, isn’t it?”
“I’ll say. When you got back he started running around the castle, asking all of us if we were his dad.”
His dad.
I pulled away and frowned. “Where’s Nobunaga? Does he know I’m home? Does he know about…?”
Hideyoshi smiled warmly. “Don’t worry. He knows.”
I looked at Nobuhiko, who was bouncing up and down. “Uncle Hideyoshi said Daddy’s coming back today!”
And as if on cue, the door opened for a final time. The man of the hour stepped in, and locked eyes with me. His gaze completely and utterly shifted. From “warlord mode” into the warm, passionate eyes that had seen me at my lowest and at my highest. The other warlords took their leave, and left me, Nobunaga, and Nobuhiko alone together.
We all just stared in silence, trying to take in the situation. There he stood, tall, proud, and handsome as ever. Nobunaga broke the stillness and moved towards us, crouching down to get on our level. He cupped my face, his big, calloused hand perfectly fitting the shape of my cheek. I leaned into it and closed my eyes. Whether I intended to or not, tears began to fall.
“Nobunaga…” I moved into a full embrace, breaking down in his arms, gripping his clothes like my life depended on it. “I missed you! Nobunaga!” I buried myself in him and couldn’t hold back. I was sobbing, I was shaking. I was back with him.
“No time has passed at all,” Nobunaga whispered, hugging me so tight I felt I wasn’t going to be able to breathe. “My one and only love… You’ve come back to me. You’ve come back at last…”
We sat this way for a few more minutes, allowing me to get all my tears, three years of grief and heartbreak out. I kissed his lips, his nose, his cheeks, everything I could in those few minutes. Finally, I could kiss him again. I could finally be with the man that would love me even after Hell froze over.
“Oh, Nobunaga. I don’t know if you knew, but…” I wiped my eyes and gestured to Nobuhiko, who was staring starstruck at the two of us. He played with his hands a bit, clearly unable to put together the proper words he wanted to communicate. He was only little, after all.
Nobunaga didn’t say anything. He just stared back at the child, narrowing his eyes a bit as he looked him over. Nobuhiko swallowed. “Daddy…?”
My lover stood up and left the room for a moment, returning with a little jar. He knelt down and held out one of its contents.
“Konpeito!!” Nobuhiko dashed forward and gobbled up the treat, squealing with joy when Nobunaga scooped him up for a hug.
“My boy!” Nobunaga pulled me in with the group, planting a kiss on my head as well as Nobuhiko’s. “He’s perfect. He looks just like his mother, Y/N.”
“Don’t lie,” I laughed, hugging Nobunaga again. “I can’t believe it. We’re home. We’re all together again!”
“And we will be forever. Nothing’s going to take you from me again, my lucky charm. Or you, my son.”
Nobuhiko looked up at us, bouncing and giggling like he always was. “I love you Mama! I love you Daddy!”

Warlord Roasting By An Open Fire (NSFW)
Fandom: Ikemen Sengoku Pairing: Nobunaga Oda x f!MC Warnings: NSFW, Oral sex (female receiving) vaginal penetration  Written by: @voltage-vixen Prompts: Sleigh ride your partner into holiday bliss & Bodies roasting by an open fire
Tumblr media
The village that surrounded the perimeters of Azuchi Castle fell silent as it was the grave of eve on a nipper winter night. Specks of white snow droplets coated the grounds, painting the terrain in a luminescent blanket of ivory fluff. Within the walls of the dwellings that lined the streets of the Oda Clan territory, the villagers slumbered peacefully. Everything and everyone in the town was tranquil-
-Save for the moans and groans echoing from the tenshu of the Great Lord himself.
Flames from the fire cackled, burning an immense heat that elicited tricklets of sweat from the body of Nobunaga’s Fireball as she thrusted her hips again and again while her warlord squirmed beneath her in pleasure. With each roll of MC’s body grinding and tightly clenching the passion between his thighs, Nobunaga’s torso would ascend in attempt to trace his fingers along the curves of his lover, only to be denied by his lucky charm as she would firmly tap his chest back down against the surface of the futon.
“My lord, shall I remind you again? Naughty boy. Tonight, I will be the one to pleasure you.”
To punish Nobunaga for defying her orders, MC ceased her movement; drawing a testy growl from the man who held her heart’s affection. His cock twitched inside of MC in a fit of impatience, forcing her to bite her lip to lull the moan threatening to escape at how damn good Nobunaga and all of his glory felt against the slickness of her walls.
“Once again, my lucky charm isn’t very skilled at keeping her true desires hidden,” Nobunaga crooned, smirking at MC’s slight curl of her mouth. “If you wish to please me, allow me to hearken in the harmony of your angelic voice.”
While pondering the weight of Nobunaga’s declaration, MC’s eyes involuntarily rolled to the back of her head when an abrupt jolt of the warlord’s pelvis ascended to deepen their enjoinment.
“It pleases me when I can survey you from underneath,” Nobunaga crooned, wiggling the arch of his eyebrow enticingly as his gaze shifted towards the bareness of her supple breasts that were jiggling from when her back arched at his recent movement. His words heeded no repeating since MC swiftly propped her chest out and her hands encompassed the soft mounds of flesh. Nobunaga’s voice hitched; memorized by the marvelous sight of her fingers kneading the skin he longed to caress.
“You drive me crazy,” he breathed, his confession nearly bordering along the lines of a plea. “You’ve left me ravenous for you. Satisfy me and allow your lord a taste. I shall not heed in anticipation naught a moment longer. Take your rightful place upon my mouth.”
Eager of the naughtiness she knew was about to be instilled upon her, MC dug her nails into the sheet of the futon. Crawling up the length of Nobunaga’s body, she paused once settled over his face and braced herself. MC gasped when Nobunaga’s hands cupped the mound of her ass and pulled her down where his tongue was zealously awaiting.
“Ah, yes, Nobunaga!!” she screamed at the blissful intrusion of him assaulting her. “Yes, eat me for as long as your heart desires. Grant me the release to cum, my lord. Taste what I have to offer. Lick me clean until my nectar quenches your thirst.”
Nobunaga’s tongue grazed along at her walls; his pace leisurely, yearning to stall out the session of pleasing. Not wanting to leave any part of her body neglected, Nobunaga’s teeth found the velvet of her folds. His gentle nibbles earned a moan of gratification from MC from the thrill the delightful friction was eliciting. Teasingly grazing his nose against the swell of her clit, the warlord’s large palms traveled to the sway of her breasts, murmuring in delight as he toyed and squeezed while her hips snapped into a rhythmic bounce and carried on with her mission of vigorously riding him until the both were left content.
The electric of each one of Nobunaga’s fondles were only turning MC on more and more. She grew wetter and wetter, eventually feeling a pool of her wetness drizzle onto the inner surface of her thigh. MC’s eyes half-shut when the onset of fluttering in her lower belly pushed her into the brink of a delirious state.
With MC’s body jolting from the waves of electricity, she collapsed down beside Nobunaga’s side and snuggled under his arm. Her head rested on the perspiration trickling down his chest. The embers of the flames continued to burn hot, yet paled in comparison to the heat scorching through Nobunaga’s frame.
“My greedy girl,” Nobunaga hummed, his lips curling in amusement at the way MC was provocatively gaping at his naked torso. “Are you already prepared to engage in more sweetness? I myself am ready. No matter how often we make love, I could never grow disinterested in you.”
Their gazes locked upon one another, and the obvious passion was coated in MC’s eyes. Words were not needed to express consent since MC nodded in haste, curling her fingers to fasten her grip onto his shoulders. Lifting her hips to align with Nobunaga, the woman gasped when the thickness of his erection stretched her. Immersed with the newfound fullness inside of her, MC stroked the side of Nobunaga’s cheek and met his gaze.
“You’re not the only one who could never grow disinterested either, my lord,” MC asserted. Wiggling her hips in encouragement, MC’s eyes disappeared into the back of her head when Nobunaga eventually did thrust forward. Nothing else around them mattered as the heat of their bodies rose.
Fulfilling the inclinations of their mutual pining became their only objective as they crashed into each other. Over and over, each thrust became more desperate to satisfy the magnitude of their cravings.
As snowflakes continued to drape the town’s structure and chill the air outside, the outpour of heat continued to incline in the tenshu, even long after the burning flames of the roasting fire ceased in the wee hours of the early morning.

Note
Can you do a headcannon of what Masamune, Shingen, Kenshin, Nobunaga, Ieyasu, Kennyo, Mitsuhide and Mitsunari will react if the MC were to give them flowers instead of them giving her them?
It's Nobunaga's birthday, so here's some headcanons (with some other warlords). Hope you enjoy!
SUITOR'S REACTION WHEN READER GIFTED THEM FLOWERS (Masamune, Shingen, Kenshin, Nobunaga, Ieyasu, Kennyo, Mitsuhide, Mitsunari)
Masamune Date
He was surprised. No one had ever gifted him flowers before, let alone a lass as beautiful as you. When he first saw you with the bouquet, his initial thought was that they were for someone else. His hand found the hilt of his sword, ready for a fight for your love. But then you presented the bouquet to him. He placed the flowers in a vase in his room, a small part of him sad there was no battle for your love.
Shingen Takeda
Shingen was impressed. It was normally he who gifted the flowers, not the other way around. Flattered by your gift, he found himself enjoying this role-reversal, hoping to receive more thoughtful gifts from you in the future. As a thank you, Shingen took one of the blooms, broke off the stem, and tucked the flower behind your ear.
Kenshin Uesugi
Kenshin was afraid. Why were you holding those flowers - did they hurt you in some way? Ready with his trusty sword in hand to cut down the plant that dared harm his love, he blinked in surprise when you laughed and told him the flowers were a gift for him. After sheathing his sword, he asked for your help in putting the flowers in a vase.
Nobunaga Oda
Nobunaga was happy. It was his birthday, after all. After a day of receiving numerous, extravagant gifts, it was refreshing to receive something so beautifully simple from his lover. Or maybe it was because it was from you that it was his favorite gift that day. Now if only you had stashed some konpeito in the bouquet somewhere.
Ieyasu Tokugawa
Ieyasu was grumpy. Why did you have to give him flowers? Now he had to find a vase to put them in - did you think he had things like that handy in his bedroom? And make sure they had water. And get you a gift in return. Oh, why did you have to give him these silly, pretty flowers?
Kennyo
Kennyo was flattered. What a beautiful gift from his beautiful lover. He marveled over the pastel shades of the petals and the sense of serenity he felt just by looking at them. He placed the flowers in his bedroom (unlike some of the warlords in the Oda forces, Kennyo actually owned a vase) on a table near his bed so that every night when he went to bed, your flowers were the last thing he saw, and when he woke up in the morning, they were the first thing he saw.
Mitsuhide Akechi
Mitsuhide was mischievous. Mitsuhide was not used to receiving gifts, let alone a bouquet of flowers. Was this just an innocent gift? Were you rewarding him for the prank he pulled on Mitsunari the other day? He hoped it was for the latter - he would happily pull any number of pranks to bring a smile to your face.
Mitsunari Ishida
Mitsunari was flustered. Flowers? For him? Was this some kind of prank? (He's still getting over being pranked by Mitsuhide the other day). Once he got over his initial confusion and realized that these flowers were a genuine gift for him, he thanked you profusely for said bouquet. He particularly liked the various shades of purple in the bouquet and found a nice spot to display them in his room.

This tiny fic was inspired by a specific event in Hideyoshi's route. I am not used to writing for Ikesen so I apologize if they feel out of character. Purely fluff WC approx 495.
Tumblr media
The sun had finished setting and several figures crept silently along in the darkness. The figure in front suddenly made a motion and they all halted, their attention focused on the lead figure.
“Remember failure is not an option, you are some of my best warriors and I expect results.”
“Yes my lord!”
The chorus of voices was quiet yet determined and with a nod of the leaders head the figures resumed their mission. They crept along silently dodging obstacles and guards until their final destination was in sight. The figures surrounded the door and waited for their leader to give the signal. One swift motion of his hand and the figures leapt into action and before long they had entered the room, sights set on their target.
The group moved silently as one and after their target was quickly secured the leader of the group spoke again.
“I commend you all, you have performed admirably this night.”
The rest of the figures bowed and then held out their hands in unison. The leader smiled a deep smile while letting out a soft chuckle, just as he was about to speak a noise was heard from the other side of the door.
“Is somebody in there? Lord Nobunaga how many times have I-”
The figures inside froze instantly holding their breath but just as the door was about to be slid open.
“Hideyoshi, what are you doing?”
“I could have sworn I heard noises coming from the kitchen.”
“I didn't hear anything.”
“Maybe not but I think I should still check to be safe, what if it's an intruder.”
The door slid slightly open and the group looked uneasily between themselves but as soon as Hideyoshi had thrust his hand inside the kitchen another hand reached out for it.
“Really Hideyoshi.”
“What?”
“Can't you stop worrying so much and take at least one night off?”
“I…”
“The castle is perfectly safe, nothing will happen and thanks to Lord Nobunaga taking the children we have the whole weekend to ourselves. Shouldn't we take advantage of his generous gift to us?”
There was a short stretch of silence then they heard Hideyoshi let out a sigh.
“You're right Mai, let's head back to the manor.”
At the sound of Hideyoshi and Mai's receding footsteps Nobunaga and the children let out a collective sigh of relief.
“That was close. I thought Dad was going to catch us for sure.”
“Ya and then we'd all get a lecture.”
“Or worse.”
“It’s a good thing Mom showed up when she did.”
The children all nodded and Nobunaga let out a low laugh.
“Of course she did, she is my lucky charm after all.”
“And this lucky charm wants her fair share.”
The five children jumped and looked towards the door where they saw their mothers head and hand poking in. Nobunaga sighed and walked over to the door, dropping a few pieces of sugar candy into Mai's hand as she smiled at him.

(BONUS) DAY 24 - Breeding + “I know you can fuck me harder than this…”
Tumblr media
Sex with Masamune is always a wild ride.
Splashing hot spring waters by a mutual jump-in, stolen trysts at the wrong time at the wrong place, wreaking havoc of a silent night in a caste they're guests in. The recipe for trouble; the two of them and any surface that could do.
MC believes her body is now modified to sync with Masamune's hard, fast fucking - nothing else feels enough, she is never quite ready to let the world slow down until they've reached that high together, at all costs.
It's a little puzzling why tonight is not the same, given the circumstances.
MC thought that ever since they negotiated wanting to try for kids, Masamune would be a beast. Untamed and free to fill her with as much cum as he sees fit, without the need to pull out nor to resist her at her most vulnerable, MC anticipates having the best sex in her life in those fateful few weeks.
Yet Masamune is gentle.
He is taking his time twice as much, littering kisses across her everything; mouth spilling no flirtatious filth now as if wooing her for the first time, hands lacking the youthful vigor of feeling her up as usual. He is now mapping out every millimeter of her skin with calloused fingers that are capable of being feather-like where they meet the surface; and the strings in her body are being oh-so tantalizingly pulled. It's something she can get drunk on, the pace slowing down as she curls up and stretches out and curls up anew, Masamune maneuvering her legs from pointing towards the ceiling to sandwiching his pretty face in between as he lays on his side. It goes on for sooo long. He eats her out like the world ends tomorrow, and she is close to threatening him that it actually would, for him, if he makes her cum one more time without shoving his cock inside first.
"I can't. You're giving me so much of your sweet nectar during this time of the month. Your pussy is asking me to eat it out."
Is she really wetter than usual? MC groans and shifts on her back again, sweaty arm shielding her vision. No, you idiot, it slicks the way for you to finally fuck my brains out.
Instead of the open provocation, she comes with a more head-on question to ask.
"What's the matter, Masamune? Why aren't you inside me yet?"
As an indication that it caught him off-guard, Masamune's wicked tongue pauses, gives one last flick at her swollen nub and then is gone; instead, he runs his velvety lips across it to make her twitch with the change of texture before withdrawing. Blue eye searching for hers.
"I've been a little lost in my thoughts here. Forgive me."
While eating pussy? The raise of her brow is perhaps vocalizing her bewilderment enough. Masamune chuckles as his large frame raises to full glory, him kneeling between her open legs at last.
She doesn't deny herself the peek at his cock, insides clenching at the sight of it rock hard and standing at attention flush against his abdomen, tip glistening with a drop of pre-cum. All for her and her alone.
"So what are you thinking about?" She tries to close her legs behind his back, anything to pull him in to lean over her and close the painful distance.
"Us."
He pushes in. In a fashion that is now surely a lot more like him, Masamune splits her insides around his thick cock in one long push, sheathing in all the way to the hilt. He loves to prepare her as long as needed for that one awaited and explosive first thrust that always hits them in the way a summer storm's first lightning hits the soil thirsting for water. It's a relief and a terror, both equally anticipated.
"About you ripe with my child. Well-fed and taken care of; silky hair and glowing skin. Like a goddess."
MC's heartbeat speeds up; emotion blooming inside her heart and burning into lust as it moves across her body; making her thus more aware of the place where she and Masamune are connected.
"About Aoba filled with the pitter-patter of tiny feet."
He's barely moving, caught up in his own fantasy as if the mess of colors that the surrounding world would become once he picks up the speed would erase it. Yet for her, his thrusts are intense - senses heightened and insides hypersensitive to the smallest of movements he produces. It could be because of the body reaction, or it could be because of his words, but tears are pricking at the corners of her eyes.
Masamune intends to hold her waist, yes, how else would he get his secure grip on her on his way to some serious fucking; alas, his hand lingers. He caresses her lower abdomen, astonished by imagines that exist only behind the mist in his deep blue eye. He hears her quiet sobs.
It is that that finally does the magic and he is pulled in close, with no arms to guide him down - he cups her cheeks, and runs his thumbs over them to brush tears away, and whispers a dozen of questions filled with concern. She chuckles between sobs, as it feels good to finally wrap her arms around his muscular back.
“I know you can fuck me harder than this, Masamune…”
It's the confirmation he needed to hear, masked with a hint of why she remains and will always be his naughty little lass. He gets the message and loses no time hooking her leg on his shoulder, feeling himself quite ready to provide with his first load for the night. He's been denying himself awfully lot while admiring her in her sexiest, now.
"Yes. Yes, I can."
Every pleading word leaves her lips in the form of his name; a whimper or a near-scream, the only thing better than hearing the dulcet sounds her mouth makes is to seal it with his own mouth. But Masamune can't stay quiet for long, too. It's simply not his style.
As the hot walls tighten around his shaft, eager to milk him from everything he has to offer, his even thrusting starts to lose its rhythm; fingers finding fingers to entangle with, Masamune sucks on air giving a single warning as he nearly cums on the sight of his darling thrashing underneath him in desperation to feel his cum inside her.
"I'll give you all of me. But I'll do it in a way the whole caste gets to know how the Dragon of Oshu breeds his wife."
His composure crumbles as the reaction follows suit, playing loud and clear on her face, in her voice. It's her scream that fulfills the filthy promise he made, mind too lost in pleasure to be concerned about the volume of those illicit cries. MC's whole world shrinks down to her insides; the pulsation, the warmth, the fullness. Rope after rope of Masamune's cum is disposed inside her, coating her thickly and placing its mark on her. It's beyond what she's ever felt, with the risk of offending some of their other mindblowing sex sessions.
And the best part, it is only just the beginning. It could be the echo of her thoughts, or the voice of Masamune, but she eagerly responds to it, tightening her core around the thick girth inside her until it's steel hard again.

Finding the Light - Chapter 9
Fandom: Ikemen Sengoku
Pairing : Mitsuhide X OC ( Evelyn)
Genre : NSFW
TW : n/a
AN: This is a long chapter, sorry!
Walking carefully to Mitsuhide’s room, Evelyn gently knocked, holding the serving tray tightly in one arm so she wouldn’t drop it. “You may enter.” She slid the door open and walked into the room. As she put the serving tray on a nearby table, Mitsuhide looked up from what he was writing, still holding the brush between his fingers. He watched her as she turned to slide the door closed again.
“What is happening here?” Mitsuhide asked as he watched her turn around from sliding the door shut. “Drink with me? Mitsuhide felt the concern wrap around him as soon as the words left her lips. She definitely shouldn’t be drinking. With how small she had become, her tolerance wouldn’t be what she was used to.
He knew she had enjoyed drinking in the past when Nobunaga would have one of his big feasts, but she was never out of control; she always seemed to know her limit. “Why?” He asked, still holding the brush. “Why not?” She replied. Mitsuhide studied her as she sat at the small round table off to the side of his room. “Did today make you feel anxious?” He asked as she poured the sake in both the cups. “I’m relieved it’s over, is all.” He glided over to the table and sat where she had set his cup down.
“I know it was hard, but the important thing is you got through it. You didn’t panic. You didn’t shut down. You should be proud of yourself. You did well.” Mitsuhide took the cup and put it against his lips, taking a sip, but was surprised when Evelyn downed the drink in one gulp.
He wanted to voice his concern, but he had to slacken the ropes occasionally, and he poured the rest of the sake down his throat, matching her pace. Evelyn poured them another drink. They had drink after drink, both of them getting quite inebriated. Mitsuhide stuck a piece of cheese in his mouth, and Evelyn watched. “I am happy that you ate today.” She grumbled, “It was only one meal.” He finished chewing and swallowed; clearing his throat, he said. “It’s the most you’ve eaten since you’ve been here. It’s a good start.”
Mitsuhide swallowed the cheese. “Evelyn, why is it so hard for you to eat? You used to love food.” She looked down and tilted her cup so that the sake inside swirled. “Truthfully? It keeps me from thinking about what happened. The pain from the hunger helps me focus on something else.” Mitsuhide gently took hold of her hand to show his support. “We just need to find something else for you to focus on.” She looked up from the cup and at him. “I don’t know what that would be.” Mitsuhide squeezed her hand. “It might take some time, but I’ll help you figure it out, but you’re hurting yourself by not eating.” She sighed, “I know, and I feel it too. I’m not as strong; I’m always tired.”
Evelyn hadn’t opened up like this before. He was going to let her talk about whatever she needed to say. She looked away from Mitsuhide and out the window. Far away, further away than he could ever be. She was lost, and he wanted to bring her back.
As he watched her, he saw tears drip off her face and onto her hand. He immediately scooted closer to her and put his hands on her face to force her to look at him. His thumbs wiped her tears away as he held her face. “You don’t have to be brave in front of me, little one. I can see how much pain you are in.” Her eyes connected with his golden irises. He had a look of seriousness and determination in them. Something that told her that he wasn’t lying. He took a breath as her tears kept coming. “I cannot take your pain away, but I am here for you; I will keep you safe, and I will do everything I can to help you move forward so that you can keep on living.”Evelyn lunged herself onto him, wrapping her arms around his neck and sobbing into his chest. “They are still out there, Mitsuhide. What if they come looking for me? What if they find me?” Mitsuhide rubbed her back soothingly. “They won’t find you, Evelyn; even if your attackers tried looking for you here, they’d get captured and thrown into the Azuchi dungeons before they could put one foot on the property.” She took some deep breaths, and her tears finally ceased, but Mitsuhide continued his calming efforts.
“Mitsuhide, what does everyone think I’m staying here for?” He pet her head. “They know you are unwell and need to take some time for yourself, and I decided to stay here with you because I don’t trust that you won’t go snooping.” She lifted herself off Mitsuhide and looked at him, “They don’t know any of it?” He combed her hair behind her ear. “No, only myself and Ieyasu, and neither of us has said anything.” She exhaled with relief.
She sighed, and Mitsuhuide raised his eyebrows, questioning her. “What is it?” She swallowed and started fiddling with the sleeve of her kimono. “I want to get better. I want to face my fears. I don’t want to be weak anymore. I have one fear I can never face.” He knitted his eyebrows together. He hated it when she got down on herself, but being attacked had stripped her of everything but her bones. She was bound to get into her head on occasion. “There is nothing you can’t overcome; you are stronger than you think.”
She shook her head, “Not this.” He had an idea of what she was referring to, but he wanted to hear her say it. “And what may that be?” She lifted her head and took another drink. “Romance, intimacy … Sex. “Precisely as he thought. “That is going to take time; you will get there, eventually, when you’re ready.” She shook her head, “Who would want me after I’ve been tainted? Besides, I don’t want to be with anyone like that. I’ve accepted that I won’t have romance in my life.” Mitsuhide hadn’t expected her to be so honest with her feelings. It hurt his heart that she was so afraid of moving forward in that area of her life that she would accept being unhappy. Again, he is reminded that she has changed; the old her would have never accepted this. He has to stop comparing this new her to the old her and take her for what she is now.
“Is that how you truly feel? Everyone deserves love, especially someone like you. Everyone should be able to experience intimacy and sex. It is instinctual, human nature. We need sex as much as we need air to breathe.” She shook her head. “Not me, not anymore.” Mitsuhide took her hand, “Even a woman has sexual needs.” She shook her head in defiance. “I’ll help you face those fears if you’re ever interested.” She looked at Mitsuhide, afraid of what he was offering.
“Mitsuhide?” He gave her a gentle smile. “If you want, I’ll show you there is nothing to fear. If it’s too much, I’ll stop. I would never force or push you to do something you don’t want to do.” He looked at her thoughtfully. He wanted to convey that this was her choice. He combed his fingers through her hair, soothing her and trying to relax her. Then he kissed the top of her head, then her forehead. Then, the top of her hand, as his eyes met hers.
His lips were soft and warm; she had never considered Mitsuhide a gentle lover. She imagined him being rough and fast. Fucking for his own needs, never thinking about his partner. Then again, that’s how she always had sex. Fucking just to fuck and never really feeling that high.
He took her hand in his. “We’re friends, right? You know I won’t hurt you. You know I’ll respect you and your body. It’s a safe option.” He squeezed her hand. “I meant what I said. I will stop, no questions asked. No hard feelings. I’m doing this to help you heal, not to make you fearful. I expect nothing in return; this is for you and you alone.” Her mind was racing, and her heart was beating so fast she thought it might burst out of her chest. “Mitsuhide, I don’t think we should do this. I think we both had too much to drink.” He smiled, “You are probably right, but if the opportunity is there, sometimes we have to take it. What do you say, little mouse?”
She stared at Mitsuhide for a good thirty seconds, mulling over the offer he had given her. He looked sincere, but the one thing keeping her from saying yes was her fear. It was all about the fear. She didn’t want to live in the shadow of her fear anymore. “It’s okay to be afraid. Try with me, and if you can’t, then you can’t; at least you tried. That would be a step forward.” How did he always know what she was thinking? It was aggravating.
“Okay, I’ll try.” Mitsuhide combed her hair behind her ear soothingly. “Okay.” He said as he nodded, confirming her decision. He stood up and held out his hand for her to take. Reluctantly, she placed her hand in his, allowing him to pull her to her feet. Still holding onto her hand, Mitushide looked her over and saw the uncertainty written on her face.
Taking initiative, he picked her up, her legs draping over his arms. She yelped, not expecting him to pick her up. She grabbed the lapel of his kimono in an attempt to steady herself. She must have finally lost her mind completely. Was she genuinely going to allow Mitsuhide to drink in her body and make love to her?
He carried her over to the futon and laid her down delicately. After he removed his arms from under her body, he settled in next to her, turning on his side so that he could get a better view of her. He waited patiently, letting her get her bearings together. “It’s going to be alright, I promise.” She had a petrified look in her eyes, and Mitsuhide cautiously took her hand and rubbed her skin with his thumb. She looked at their connected hands, which had become a regular occurrence. “Then why is this so awkward?” Mitsuhide, still rubbing her hand, studied her.
She was nervous and tense, clutching the blankets and holding her breath. “Evelyn, take a breath. Just breath. You’re fine. You’re not in any danger. You are safe.” She nodded apprehensively. He put his hand on her cheek, turning her head to face him. “I’ve got you.” He said as he looked her over, tracing her jaw with his index finger. He smiled gently at her. He was stroking her long hair to ease her anxiety. Even this kind of intimacy was new to her. He was being so careful, so gentle.
Her cheeks were flushed, and she looked flustered and a bit confused. “I don’t know about this Mutsuhide.” His expression softened, and he put his hand on her cheek. “Look at me, Evelyn.” Her eyes connected with his, showing him her fear. “Let me show you what it feels like to be loved.” She bit her lip, “I-I’m not ready.” He stroked her hair lovingly. “You’ll never be ready if you refuse to try. You must move forward; you can’t live your life refusing to let yourself have intimacy or love. Be kind to yourself.”
She shook her head. “I don’t want to be in love.” Mitsuhide continued stroking her hair. “Maybe not right now, but you will.” He moved her hair to the side and gently kissed her neck. “Trust me,” he whispered lowly in her ear.
She was overwhelmed. Why was Mitsuhide doing this? “Relax, mouse. Focus on me. An immediate blush of embarrassment crossed her face. Mitsuhide smiled. “There you are. Mitsuhide kissed her forehead. “I will be here every step of the way. If you get scared, you can hold onto me as tightly as you need. We are going to do this together because that’s what sex is about. Togetherness” How had she never known he was so kind and caring? Still lying on his side beside her, she looked at him, and he gave her a tender smile, “Turn towards me.” He helped her turn on her side so they were facing each other. He reached between their bodies and took her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers. She watched him do so, and he was silent as she processed what was happening between them. He looked into her eyes and squeezed her hand as he caressed her arm lightly.
He bent his head down and kissed her neck again. He laid kiss after kiss down the side of her neck. Her heart was beating hard and fast. He kept dropping gentle kisses on her soft skin, making the tiny hairs on her skin rise. He pulled away from her neck. “I’m going to untie your obi; don’t be startled.” She squeezed his hand tightly and closed her eyes. “No, look at me. Focus on me. See that I am the one who is doing this. If you close your eyes, the fear might come back.”
She understood his point, so she opened her eyes, watching as he bent over her to maneuver her obi to loosen her kimono. He was so gentle, untying it with ease. He laid back down and stroked her cheek with the back of his hand. He opened her kimono to expose her collarbones. He shifted his body, bringing her with him. She laid on her back with him above her, with a sweet smile on his face. He could see the uncertainty flash in her eyes. “You’re doing great,” He reassured her as he bent down to kiss her collarbones. His free hand explored her curves, sliding over her stomach, along her rib cage, just beneath her breasts.
Her chest heaved up and down, and she swallowed thickly. “Evelyn,” He said with his deep voice. “Are you with me?” She blinked as he paused to ensure she was alright. “Y-yeah.” He lifted his head so he was at her level. “It’s okay to be scared. If something becomes too much, you tell me as soon as it happens. Do you understand me? I do not want to be part of your pain.” She nodded. “Say it, so I know you understand.” He had to be sure she understood that she was safe with him and that he would never do anything to scare or hurt her. “I’ll tell you if it’s too much.”
His expression softened. “Good… How are you feeling right now?” She looked straight into his solemn eyes. “Scared and, uh, nervous.” Mitsuhide brushed her bangs back, trying to soothe her. “We’re going to go nice and slow, okay?” As he stroked her head, he looked dead into her eyes. “I’m going to undress you.” She began to understand that he was telling her what he would do to her before he did it, so she was prepared. Her eyes searched his with a conflicted expression on her face. “Talk to me.” He said in a soft tone. “How is this a turn on? I’m pathetic.” Tears filled her eyes, and she turned her head away. He placed his hand on the side of her face, forcing her to look at him. “You are desirable, Evelyn.” She pressed her lips together. “Don’t think about such things; I want to do this. I want you to feel the pleasure I’m going to give you.” She bit her lip, embarrassed by what he said.
He began to open her kimono, revealing her body, as he finally slipped the kimono off her. There were yellowing bruises and cuts that were healing on her body. She reflexively covered her body with her arms. He didn’t try to remove her hands, letting her hide her body.” You’re alright, focus on me.” She kept his face in her vision as she started shaking. “Evelyn, you are safe. I will not hurt you.” She was breathing hard, and panic was rising. He cupped her face, looking deep into her eyes. “Breathe. You’re okay.” She was listening, but the panic was uncontrollable. She started hyperventilating. “Okay, come here.” He sat back on his heels, bringing her with him.
He held her shaking form to his chest as he petted her head. “I’ve got you. He looked down at her, wiping her tears away. “I need you to take some breaths. Do what I do,” Mitsuhide said, taking a deep breath in and exhaling slowly. He kept doing this until she could finally copy him, their breathing in sync. “Good girl.” He connected his eyes to hers. “There you are.” He smiled at her, “You’re okay now.” He smiled that smile he only ever showed for her and leaned forward, lying her gently back down on the futon, her hair splaying around her. He once again tangled his fingers with hers, but he paused. “Would it make you feel less self-conscious if I undressed as well?” He asks, “Your body isn’t bruised and beaten.” She replies, and Mitsuhide shakes his head in disagreement. “Maybe not right now, but I have plenty of war scars. My body isn’t beautiful.” He didn’t wait for her to answer. He let go of her hand, stood up, and undressed slowly, taking each article of clothing off as she watched nervously. He pulled down his fundoshi, exposing his whole self to her.
He was not yet ready to be one with her, but he was letting himself be a little vulnerable, only to help her relax. He climbed on top of her. “Remember to focus on me.” His eyes took in her nude body. “you are most beautiful. Being complimented like that from him felt so good. “You’re drunk.” He chuckled. “So are you.” Then he kissed her neck and put his lips to her ear. “That doesn’t make you any less beautiful.” Her face heated up, her cheeks and ears turning pink. “And cute when she blushes.” Mitsuhide cupped her cheek, taking a long look at her. He never intended to kiss her to keep some semblance of friends and not lovers; instead, his primal desires took over all reasoning.
He leaned his head down and put his forehead against hers, looking into her green eyes. “May I kiss you?” She looked deep into his eyes, making him feel awkward as if she were looking into his soul. “Yes,” and with those words, their noses rubbed together as he positioned his mouth over hers. He pressed his lips against her full lips, feeling their softness.
Their eyes fell shut; his hand went into her hair, and her hands went to the back of his neck. He was gentle, taking his time, giving her peck after peck until he couldn’t contain his needs, and kissed her harder. He broke the kiss, and They opened their eyes silently, gazing at each other. Both realized that this was happening, and there was no going back. He returned to her warm lips, kissing her harder, their mouths moving together in unison. She sighed into the kiss, letting him slip his tongue into her mouth.
Mitsuhide had his fair share of casual flings, but never had he been this intimate with a woman. Mitsuhide wanted this for her, but somehow it had also become for him as well. His tongue tangled with hers as they both breathed heavily through their noses. He could feel his cock hardening as they continued to ravish each other’s mouths. Kissing had never turned him on this much before. He pulled away from the kiss, looked at her, and smiled. “Evelyn,” He said her name in a husky voice laced with desire. “I’m going to touch you.” She nodded in understanding, still feeling high from his kiss. He rubbed his thumb over her bottom lip and gave her another peck.
His hands went to her sides, feeling the curves of her body. Her hands were still on the back of his neck. Her hands found their way into his hair. He smoothed a hand over her stomach. He leaned down, kissing her chest sweetly and slowly, taking in the scent of her skin. He pulled away, looking at her while his hands explored her soft skin. His fingertips ran between her breasts, and her chest heaved harder. With calloused hands from years of using a gun and sword, he ran his fingers over her skin. With feather-light touches, he caressed the contours of both her breasts. Her pupils started to dilate, telling him that she was aroused. He gave her a mischievous smile as he placed his hand on one breast, kneading and massaging. Then, he began to caress the other side.
As he bent his head down, he licked her nipple with the flat of his tongue. She jerked, and he looked up, questioning her. “Uh, k-keep going.” He squeezed her arm in reassurance. Mitsuhide pinched her other nipple and rolled it between his forefinger and thumb. He circled her areola with the tip of his tongue, making her breath hitch. “mmm.” Pleased with the sound of her pleasure, he smiled. He then latched his mouth onto her nipple, pulling the flexible skin with his teeth. She looked down at him with heavy, lidded eyes as he switched sides to do the same thing.
As he released her nipple from his mouth, he looked at her. “How do you feel?” Her breathing came out hard and ragged. “Good, don’t stop.” He chuckled. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” He laid another kiss on her lips as his hand drifted down her body to her legs. With his other hand, he intertwined his fingers with hers. “Evelyn, keep your eyes open and focus on me.” He spread her legs further apart, and his fingers went down her leg, and she squeezed his hand tightly. His fingers slid into her labia. He stopped and looked at her. “Are you doing okay?” She looked apprehensive. “I’m scared.” He knew she was. “relax, breathe, and let me take care of you.” He said as he found her clit and put a little pressure on it. “Ohh, “Mitsuhide smiled, “Does that feel good?” She was breathing heavily. “Y-yes.” He began to move his finger in circles. She bit her lip, and as he looked at her face. Her eyes were clouded over with lust. He switched between rubbing and pinching her clit.
Her hips bucked up involuntarily; she was turning him on like nothing else. His member was fully erect and leaking. Then, he adjusted his position at her center. He lifted her legs over his shoulders and lifted her hips and put his face up to her core and licked up her clit up then down. She tilted her hips, needing more friction. He brought her clit into his mouth, sucking. Her moans were turning him on more and more. Her legs started to tremble, and her body began to tense. He pulled away from her needy core. To look at her, “Are you okay with me putting my fingers inside of you?” Her body paused with his question, and he waited for her answer. Finally, a soft “yes,” but with how meek her answer was, made him question her. “Are you certain? You don’t have to let me.” She cleared her throat. “I’m sure.” He reached up and rubbed her belly in reassurance.
He kissed the inside of each of her thighs. His mouth went back to her clit as he slowly pushed in a finger. She focused on her breathing and soon felt him add another finger. She was becoming so wet, but he wouldn’t comment. He wanted her to feel good. He curled his fingers inside of her and began pumping them as his tongue worked on her sensitive clit.
She curled her toes, and her thighs tightened around his head. Her back arched as her moans sang a beautiful song. He pulled away, cupped her cheek, and bent down, kissing her with a need that he didn’t know existed inside of him. He searched her eyes, then put her hips down and hovered back over her. He kissed her deep and slow, then looked at her. “Focus on me, see me, and feel me. I’m going to go slow; at any time, if you need to stop, then I’ll stop.” He kissed her nose, and then he sat back on his feet.
He put his hand around his throbbing member rubbing it over her clit, eliciting a sweet moan until he found her entrance pressing the head just barely inside. “Look at me.” She squeezed his hand tightly as he slowly pushed in. She felt so good, her walls stretching to allow him in. He pushed in further and further until he was fully inside of her, and he sighed from the delicious feeling of her; it took so much of his self-control not to pummel into her right then and there. Seeing the uncertainty in her expression brought him back to reality. “Are you still with me?” She took a breath she had been holding in and blinked. “I -I’m okay. I just need a minute.”
She squeezed his hand so tightly that her nails dug into his skin. He wanted her to feel comfortable, so he would patiently wait. “Whatever you need.” She swallowed, looking into his lust-driven eyes. She tried to imprint his features in her mind. Finally, She reached up for his face and traced his features with her fingers. She outlined his lips and put her hand on the back of his head, pushing him to her lips. It was a sweet kiss. Their mouths moved together, both melting into the other. Evelyn pulled back to look at him and cupped his cheek. “I’m ready.” Mitsuhide was sure that she needed reassurance that it was him who was inside her and not one of the monsters that assaulted her.
Mitsuhide put his weight on her so they were skin to skin. She reached for his hand, and they threaded their fingers together. With their bodies pressed together, Mitsuhide kissed her forehead. She looked at him expectantly, “don’t look away; keep your eyes on me.” he said lowly, and then he moved his hips, thrusting into her gently. Both of them started breathing heavily, and as he continued with the slow pace, sweet moans began falling from her lips. Likewise, Mitsuhide was sighing and grunting. “You’re doing so well.” He said as he looked at her flushed cheeks. "Kiss me, Mitsuhide.” He did, but it was sloppy and wet as they breathed hard into each other’s mouths. He broke the kiss and put his forehead on hers. He looked into her eyes and saw it the moment it happened. Something behind her eyes changed like a dark veil had been lifted. She took him in completely, letting the pleasure fill her up. She began rocking her hips in rhythm with his thrusts. She let go of his hand to feel his body. First, she held onto his strong shoulders, then she moved her hands to his back, dragging her fingers up and down his back, feeling his soft skin, touching the raised skin from his scars.
Mitsuhide had never been touched in that way before. It was electrifying. Evelyn put her hands on his biceps, and she could feel his muscles flexing as he rocked his hips into her. Getting caught up in the moment, Mistuhide nuzzled into her neck and kissed her there, then gave her a bite, leaving a nicely sized welt there. Both of their bodies were damp with sweat. Mitsuhide could feel her walls spasming around him. He put his hand between their bodies, finding her clit. “I’m going to make you come,” He spoke seductively. He began rubbing her clit in tight circles. He shifted positions, and the angle of his member hit a sensitive spot, and she cried out loudly. He was sure the whole manor could hear her.
Her toes started to tingle, and warmth radiated throughout her body. Pressure started building up. Something was happening to her that she had never felt before. “Mitsu-ahh.” He smiled and bent down to kiss her lips. Her grip on his arms tightened, and her nails dug into his flesh. Her legs began to tremble, and the pressure exploded, making her body stop moving altogether. All she could see was a bright white light, “Mitsuhide, mmmn, fuck.” Her walls clamped around his cock, squeezing it making Mitsuhide shudder. “That’s it come for me.” Mitsuhide slowed his ministrations but kept going to help her ride out her orgasm.
Evelyn blinked several times before her vision came back into focus, and her body, which had tensed during her orgasm, went limp as she caught her breath. He brushed her sweaty hair off her face. She leaned her face up, kissing him passionately, her fingers threading through his hair. He was so close, and she began moving her body with his again. How he wanted to ram into her in that moment and fuck her, but he had to let his needs fall back on the wayside. He would get there eventually. When she broke the kiss, she angled her hips in such a way that his pubic bone was hitting her clit with every thrust.
He noticed how her walls were fluttering again. He had planned on pulling out, but when her walls tightened around him yet again and squeezed his sensitive cock so deliciously, he had no warning before his essence spilled inside of her, causing him to tremble. He bit the side of her neck, then moaned in her ear as he came, and she could feel him expel his seed inside of her. Then his breathing evened out, and he leaned down, kissing her. When his cock softened, he slowly pulled out of her. As he broke the kiss, he searched her eyes. She looked utterly blissed out, making her look incredibly sexy. “How do you feel? “He asked, feeling concerned. “Really, really good. I’ve never had sex that felt that good.” Mitsuhide smiled, “neither have I.” He smiled and kissed her forehead. “I’m glad you’re satisfied.”
Mitsuhide rolled off of her and pulled the blanket over both of them, not caring that they were both nude. Evelyn turned to face him, and he intertwined his fingers with hers, holding her hand while he held her close as they slept. “Mitsuhide.” His eyes were already closed. “Hm?” She drew circles with her finger on his pectoral. “Thank you.” He opened his eyes and kissed the top of her head. “You are most welcome, little mouse. Now, let us sleep.

Chapter47: Epilogue Katsu settles in in Azuchi. Plus kittens.
Azuchi, Six weeks later…
The maids were going to kill me. Having been one myself, I understood the frustration of someone dripping mud across a freshly cleaned floor. But even though I left my mucky geta at the entry, there was no way to stop the rest of my clothing from scattering dirty water all the way down the corridor.
“You should just let Katsuko decide.” Though I’d intended to go change into dry clothes, I ended up halting by the door to Mitsuhide’s office area when I heard Toshiie’s voice.
What is this all about?
Before I could hide behind the door to eavesdrop, Mitsuhide called out. “I hear you out there, Brat, you might as well come in.”
As I entered, both took in my barefoot and soaked appearance with varying levels of concern (Toshiie) and amusement (Mitsuhide). I sighed. “Yes. My horse dumped me in a puddle again. Yes, in front of Nobunaga.”
On the bright side it had been after the afternoon of negotiations with a contingent of Nanban merchants, so at least I hadn’t spent the day messy and uncomfortable. Far from being insulted that one of his entourage had suffered an embarrassing splat, Nobunaga had been amused by the whole thing. Though he was still an imposing authority figure, and a stern boss, I suspected that below all that was an inner troll.
Mitsuhide took off his socks and passed them to me.
“Funny. That horse never does that to Ieyasu.” Toshiie’s comment confirmed to me that Ieyasu had continued to secretly ride her on the days where I was occupied with my duties as Nobunaga’s translator.
Eager to move the conversation away from my latest riding mishap, I turned to Toshiie. “What are you doing here?”
Usually at this time of day, he was in Ieyasu’s manor, while the two spent the afternoons exchanging medical knowledge. Now looking much more like the brother I remembered, he’d been enthusiastically training in feudal medicine. To everyone’s surprise, Ieyasu appeared not only to tolerate his company, but actually enjoy it.
Immediately Toshiie clammed up, looking furtive. Mitsuhide simply raised his eyebrow. Oh. Another romantic gesture was incoming. Mitsuhide had taken to love bombing me with just-because gifts. The gestures were always thoughtful, though occasionally embarrassingly timed, such as when he had Keiji perform a K-pop ballad in the middle of a banquet. (“How did you remember all the lyrics and teach it to him?” “I have my ways.”)
Hm. I would get nothing out of Toshiie with Mitsuhide around – I would have to privately interrogate my brother later.
“Come over here – I haven’t seen my darling fiancée all day.” Mitsuhide patted a spot on the floor next to him. I was soaked and muddy, but… details. If Mitsuhide wanted to be covered with ambient muck, who was I to stop him? After kissing me thoroughly (much to Toshiie’s embarrassment) Mitsuhide easily switched to business mode. “Was your day a success?”
“Yes to the negotiation, no to the drawing.” Before leaving modern Japan, I had printed out a screencap of Father Slappy Hands, and Mai had tried to draw him wearing period appropriate costume. I’d taken the drawing with me to show it to the Nanban merchants, but none of them recognized him. Nor had I been able to locate Francisco to question him about the man (or the gun).  He was still playing least-in-sight, and his business had been shuttered all winter.
Removing the drawing from the leather tube that had protected it when I splashed down, I unrolled it and showed it to Toshiie. “Do you remember this guy?” It was unlikely he would recognize the man who had spied on the gymnastics meet. It had been nearly fifteen years and Toshiie only had him on camera for a few seconds. So I was surprised when Toshiie said, “Nuno da Guerra. Why is he dressed as a missionary?”
Mitsuhide pulled our original screencap out of his desk and passed it to Toshiie. “Same man?”
Toshiie squinted at it. “Could be. What is this about?”
“He attacked us in Sakai. Once when we were investigating a slave auctions, and then a couple weeks after that.” At my selective edit (Toshiie did not need to know exactly how I had been investigating that) Mitsuhide raised his eyebrow, but let the omission go. “How do you know him?”
“I don’t know much about him at all. He would sometimes visit the herbalist.” Toshiie gave a bit of a shrug. “But… there are rumors that he’s bringing in opium from Goa.”
“That would certainly be a deviation from history.” A new voice came from the ceiling, then a moment later, Sasuke popped into the room with a graceful flip.”
“Dear me. Are you at all aware of a concept called… a door?” Mitsuhide gestured to his rifle, which was within reaching distance. “One of these days someone is going to hear you scrabbling around up there, shoot first, then question later.”
“If I ever made enough noise to, um, scrabble, Kenshin would skewer me before I lever left Kasugayama.” Sasuke turned and bowed to Toshiie. “Greetings and salutations. I take it you are Katsu’s brother.” He raised his hand in a Vulcan salute.
Since Sasuke’s greeting had only served to confuse Toshiie, I introduced the two of them and explained the future connection.
“Before this conversation can degenerate into a litany of modern Japanese cultural touchstones-,” MItsuhide’s eyebrow raise was in full force, “will you please expand on what it is you were talking about when you so charmingly… dropped in.”
Sasuke pushed his glasses up on his nose. “Historically, Japan never had the type of … issue… with opium that the Chinese empire did. Although its use medicinally dates from this period, it was rarely used recreationally, and by the nineteenth century the Tokugawa shogunate proactively banned it. Therefore, a foreign merchant attempting to disseminate it as a drug in this era, could theoretically do a fair amount of damage to a culture that has not been inoculated by China’s bad example.” Having dropped that lecture on us, Sasuke turned to Toshiie. “Did I hear you say you were working with the one and only Tokugawa Ieyasu? Would you mind if I accompanied you back? I’m eager to hear your impressions of that man.”
Seeming bemused by the torrent of words, Toshiie simply nodded.
“Wait, Sasuke. Were you just in the ceiling to spy?” Seemed like a rather large risk, especially when he could easily have just walked in through the entry.
“Ah. It escaped my mind when I heard him mention Ieyasu.” Sasuke dug a letter out of his kimono. “Yoshimoto sent this.”
Moving quickly, I grabbed the letter before Mitsuhide could confiscate it. “Thanks, Sasuke.”
He and Toshiie were already on their way out, with Sasuke eagerly listing his favorite Ieyasu accomplishments.
“It’s probably for both of us,” I said to Mitsuhide, hoping to prevent a sarcastic-
“Ah yes. Of course. I am accustomed to receiving love letters from a resident of Kasugayama.” He pulled me closer to him. “Hm, you are indeed quite damp.”
“There’s a thing called rain that you may have heard about.” Then, because I doubted he would let me leave with an unopened letter, I unsealed it and held it up so that we could both read it. “Save you the trouble of stealing it later.”
“Pity. I quite enjoy your attempts to ransom back your belongings.” He rested his chin on my shoulder and began narrating the letter. “’Dear Katsuko.’ Hrm. Inauspicious beginning. I would think you’d rate a darling at least.”
“If you’re going to snark all the way through this-“
“I make no promises.”
Sigh.
“I hope this letter finds you well. Thank you for the letter you sent via Sasuke. I shall cherish it always.” Mitsuhide tapped my forehead with his finger. “You wrote to him?”
“He did see me go over the wall. I thought he at least deserved to know that I survived… and deserved thanks for helping me out.” I elbowed him. “May I finish or are you going to continue to be a yandere about it.”
“Carry on.” He tickled the back of my neck. “He may have a paper from you, but I have the real thing.”
“’I am relieved to know that you survived your journeys through time, and if you are indeed settled in Azuchi, I wish for all your happiness. However, be assured there will always be a place for you wherever I am.’”
Hm, maybe I shouldn’t have let Mitsuhide read over my shoulder after all.
Luckily for the sake of peace in our relationship, Yoshimoto’s letter quickly switched gears to catch us up on politics. “You maybe be aware that Yoshiaki has entered a Buddhist temple. He will not be leaving it, as he recently suffered a brain storm that has left him rather incapacitated.”
Brain storm? Stroke? Yoshiaki was a little young for that, although I supposed it was possible.
“I thought that might occur.” MItsuhide sounded a bit… disappointed. “Although I do wish that could be confirmed.” Ok, not disappointed. Suspicious.
“As for your young friends, Sho and Hiko, they have settled in nicely at Kasugayama. Hiko has been all but adopted by Kanetsugu, who prizes education and has a school in the city. Our lovely flower Sho has a string of lovelorn vassals following her every step, although she does seem to prefer arguing with Yukimura. Shingen and I are amused by how easily they annoy each other. Meanwhile, I have returned to my passionate patronage of the arts. Come the Spring, I do believe I shall make the journey to Azuchi in order to explore the wares of your local artisans. I hope to encounter you then. Yoshimoto.”
“Is he warning us of an attack on Azuchi in the Spring? Or does he really plan to go shopping?” With Yoshimoto, it could go either way.
“I suspect the latter. Kenshin may be battle crazy, but he prefers to fight in a more open territory. Terrorizing civilians is not his style.” Mitsuhide made a move to confiscate the letter again, but I quickly folded it up. “It’s rather disappointing he wasn’t specific on the timing of his travel plans, in order for me to ensure you and I are elsewhere.”
I decided to ignore that bait. If we got into an argument, I never would get to the bathhouse, and I had become more uncomfortably damp as the afternoon wore on. A hot bath, and then maybe I could convince Mitsuhide to make an early night of… drat.
A long discussion of any of the things we had just learned had to wait. I’d forgotten that Mai had arranged the often-threatened “double date” for this evening. True, I liked Mai and Hideyoshi, and a meal cooked by Masamune was almost enough to make me forget my preference for a quiet night in. But given the already late hour, I rushed through my clean up, then had to press Mitsuhide into service to help me control my hair.
“Are you sure it’s going to stay?” I gently touched the series of knots behind my head, all held in place by a mass of hairsticks, including my beloved bellflower lockpicks.
He placed his hand on his heart. “I am devestated to hear you question my abilities as a hairstylist. It will last as long as it needs to last.”
With that cryptic statement, he led me into Hideyoshi’s manor… where I discovered that the hairstyle was meant to last until I bowed, at which point, the structural integrity disintegrated, gravity took over, and everything landed on the floor in a clatter of hairsticks. I cleared my bangs from my vision in time to see Hideyoshi wince.
Yep, I had already heard his opinions of how an employee of the Oda ought to look in public. It was similar to his opinions on running in the hallway, allowing Nobunaga to purchase a large quantity of konpieto in Saiki (as if I could have stopped him), and general tardiness.
To his credit, aside from flinching, Hideyoshi easily moved things along, becoming a perfect dinner host. Though Mai was the only one of us who had ever been on a double date, the evening proceeded smoothly enough, especially when Mitsuhide brought up Yoshiaki’s reported illness and the conversation turned to politics.
It was nice to be able to sit back in a relaxed setting and watch Hideyoshi and Mitsuhide interact. Though on the surface, Mitsuhide subjected Hideyoshi to as much teasing as he did me, I could see there was deep respect and admiration between the two of them. I recalled Mai mentioning that Mitsuhide only teased when he was serious, and I mentally amended that to the fact that he only teased where he loved.
Yep, his love language was snark.
As I continued to watch the two of them, Mitsuhide’s expression radiating relaxation and contentment, even as he good naturedly disagreed with something Hideyoshi had said, I realized that contentment was mirrored inside myself. I … was … happy. It was unexpected. Though I had spent most of my life running from unhappiness and my mother’s example, I had never run toward happiness. Instead, I’d had a hard-fought equilibrium, a balanced life that I enjoyed, and I’d been fine with my lot.
But this all was new. And… lovely.
Catching my gaze… and the direction of my thoughts, Mitsuhide smiled at me. “Happy?”
“Yeah. I can’t imagine anything that would make this moment better.” If I could have frozen everything in time, I might have chosen this exact point.
Although Mai did have a suggestion that was intriguing. “Mitsunari and a basket of kittens.”
“Ok, that might just-“
“No.” Her voice was full of wonder and amusement. “Mitsunari has a basket of kittens.” She sighed and gestured to a point behind me.
I turned and… Mitsunari stood at the door, holding a basket of kittens. A little grey one had already escaped containment and was climbing his arm.

“My response was perfectly normal given the situation. He had a basket of kittens.” I took one of the hoodies I had smuggled back to the Sengoku and used it to create a makeshift bed for the new feline members of our household – Hawkeye and Natasha.
It turned out that Toshiie’s ‘secret’ meeting with Mitsuhide had been to determine which kitten I might like. They’d decided to let me choose for myself, hence Mitsunari’s sudden appearance (he’d gotten the message confused) with his cat’s recently weaned offspring. “Thank you for the gift. It was very thoughtful.”
I stood up and gave him a kiss.
“To be clear, the gift was the cats themselves, and not the man holding them.” He picked up Natasha, tickled her grey striped fur, then held her against his chest. “Until I saw you and Mai melt that way, I had not realized that women become that weak when presented with the sight of a man holding a miniature cat.” He set the other kitten on his shoulder then smirked at me.
It didn’t have quite the effect that Mitsunari had, but he looked handsome none the less, especially when he tapped his finger over his sensual lips.
“A basket of kittens. Not that he held onto that that long.” Mitsunari’s attempt to keep the kittens in the basket had met with certain failure, resulting in seven furry bullets ricocheting all over Hideyoshi’s quarters. By the time the five of us managed to round them all up, the double date was well and truly over.
Mitsuhide seemed to have ‘the touch’ with them, and he settled them onto the hoodie. They instantly curled into each other, and dropped into sleep. “Tomorrow, I’ll introduce them to Chimaki and ensure she understands they are friends. But for now…” He turned, scooped me up, and carried me to our own bed (he seemed to like doing that, and I was getting used to it). “I believe we should follow their example.”
In moments, we had created our own ‘cuddle puddle,’ our arms and legs entangled. “The fact that you remembered I still miss my old cat. It was… I’m…” Too many words struggled for supremacy. This was beyond happiness.
“I know.” He pushed my hair out of my eyes. “I remember every moment of that night. The best and the worst parts of it. I wanted to love you slowly and thoroughly, but I told myself that was not something I could have. Still… there was a part of me that pretended it was the first night of many. That we would return to Azuchi together, I would find a cat for you, and you would-“
“Give you everything. I have. And I will.” No more words were needed. He made good on his promise and began to make love to me, slowly, tenderly, taking time to assuage both of our needs, rocking against me as gently as a boat rode upon the waves.
Maybe it had been a longer route to get here… but we had made it.
The tenth thing I hate about Mitsuhide. The fact that everything about him makes it impossible to avoid loving him.

Coda: Sasuke
“Status update?” Aki, still looking frail and slightly feverish, settled behind the massive European style desk in his office.
Sasuke considered telling his part-time employer to take a few days off, but he settled for handing the man a bottle of antibiotics stolen from the hospital pharmacy. Though Aki had wanted to return to the Sengoku era immediately, Sasuke and Kayten convinced him to wait at least a week to ensure his infection would not recur. Instead, they had used the prototype to laterally jump to Sasuke and Kayten’s primary timeline, where at least the police (not to mention Shingen and their alternates) could not follow.
Now, after very little rest, the three were in the modern version of Aki’s manor in the Togakushi mountains, trying piece together the strands of the known timelines. While Aki was often out of communication range, as he hopped around the multiverse, he usually had let them know where he was going. The trips to 1578 and 1586 had been unplanned, leaving Kayten and Sasuke scrambling to not only manage the timelines, but also search for Aki.
“To borrow a phrase, would you prefer hearing good news or bad news?” Sasuke did at least like to prepare people first.
In this case, though, Kayten was clearly feeling less polite and her hiss of frustration suggested she didn’t appreciate his attempt to soften the blow. “One of the Katsukos was executed.”
A harsh way to put it, but Sasuke remembered the look on Kayten’s face when they arrived in timeline G a few days after her alternate had been put to death. He’d never wanted to see that look again.
Aki closed his eyes for a moment. When he reopened them, he said (in Sasuke’s opinion) the worst thing possible. “And Hikosane?”
“He’s fine. Dad. Adopted by one of Nobunaga’s vassals.” She got to her feet, glaring at them both under a fringe of violet bangs. “I know there’s a bunch of us… versions of myself scattered across the multiverse … maybe to you, it doesn’t matter if one of us dies. But it feels like little pieces of me are being chipped away.” For a moment it looked like she was about to say more, perhaps even include Sasuke in her blast of anger. But instead, she simply left the room, without even a slammed door to punctuate her outburst.
Unsure of whether to try to comfort his friend or continue to keep Aki company, Sasuke stayed frozen in indecision.
“She’s wrong.” Aki’s voice was so quiet, Sasuke might have thought he imagined it. “I lost them both once, and my response to that almost destroyed the multiverse.”

Coming next winter… As Yuki Likes It
Courier, scout, daredevil, housemaid … Bodyguard? Katsuko has had many identities in the seven years since a wormhole sent her back in time to feudal Japan, and she’s found a certain satisfaction working for Akihira. Then an accidental encounter with an alternate timeline gives her a glimpse of a blissful future with a handsome grey-eyed warlord.
To ensure that future for herself, Katsu accepts a mission guiding a young prince and princess to Kasugayama. But a series of betrayals endangers that mission, and only by accepting the escort of Sanada Yukimura do they have any chance of reaching their destination. Meanwhile, Katsu’s wish for that once-glimpsed future is tested by her growing friendship with Yukimura. Not that it matters, as Yukimura is fascinated by the beautiful Princess Shohime… a girl already betrothed to the Dragon of Echigo.
Only time can sort out this entanglement of mismatched lovers. And time… is the one thing that is quickly running out.
… Loosely inspired by Shakespeare's As You Like It
Excerpt
I handed Shohime my arrows, knowing her aim was nearly as good as mine. “You know what to do.” I nudged her toward the cover of trees. “Wait… give you your shawl.”
While she and Hikosane vanished in the undergrowth, I pulled my hair out of the braid, and wrapped her shawl around my shoulders. It would fool no one at close range, but hopefully I could lead our attackers out of the area until the Kanamori vassals could bring reinforcements.
Then I leaped on my horse, and making as much noise as I could, cantered out to the crossroads, where the mercenaries were still searching for us. Moonlight wasn’t fast, but in this mountainous territory, a surefooted horse was more valuable anyway. To ensure I had their attention, I shrieked in fear, then took off through the trees.
Behind me, I could hear the pounding of hoofbeats, and the occasional yelps as one of the ronin got too personal with a low-hanging branch. Taking a meandering path, I zig-zagged through the area, until I was sure the men behind me were thoroughly lost.
After that, it was simply a matter of finding my way back to the others. I love it when a plan comes togeth-
In the midst of my anachronistic celebration, I heard another horse behind me. “Hey! Stop!”
Yeah, that would be a big old no. I spurred Moonlight into action again, but this pursuer was a bit more competent than the others, and no matter how sharply I turned, I could not lose him.
Plan B.
I cut back around, across his path, and took Moonlight directly toward a puddle of water. As expected, as soon as her feet got wet, she reared up, and dumped me off.
Shit, this is going to hurt.
I thudded to the ground, rolled, and, as the rider approached, I pulled Shohime’s shawl over my face, pretending to be overcome with terror. Whoever wanted to kidnap her would be surprised to discover they had the wrong girl, but the longer I could string this out, the better chance I had to learn why he wanted her. As footsteps reached the spot where I had ‘fallen’ off my horse, I added a couple of theatrical sobs.
“Ah… geez. Don’t cry. Are you hurt?”
The voice was vaguely familiar. I risked peeking up at the man who was raking his hands through his hair in frustration… Sasuke’s friend? Yuki? What did Yuki want with the Princess? And how could I make his life a misery for grabbing me instead?

Another story has come to an end, and it's always hard for me to say goodbye to the characters - that snarky kitsune just worms his way into the soul, doesn't he? We will of course see these characters again in other longfics, and I'm actually in a few weeks going to do a follower celebration here, with one of the options being "suggest or vote" on a scene to go with a fic in the Katsuverse.
As you can see, Yukimura will be our next hero in longfic #4, and, despite the angsty coda of this story, I'm hoping it will be heavier on the comedy side (more in tone to Mitsunari's story than Shingen's).
Until then, I want to once again thank everyone who read this story, whether you were a Unicorn commenter, or left a comment sometimes or just quietly came in to read. I'm so grateful for everyone - I love this community, both here and on Ao3.
In the meanwhile, as I try to get Yuki's story written, I'll be bringing back a throwback Thursday fic, so starting in April, keep a lookout for A Mitsunari Night's Dream.
