beomgyu wanted to play cupid.
he knew it was going to be a stupid idea to set yn and eunseok up, his two best friends, to date but that didn’t stop him from trying to.
and that is how he ended up being in the newly opened cafe in their neighborhood. good thing it had a warm, welcoming atmosphere; which was ideal for this situation.
“beomie, you seem nervous.” yn breaks the silence between them and he tenses up and turns to face her. “i’m not,” he brushes her off, ignoring her glare.
“yeah right.“ yn rolls her eyes at his answer, she wasn’t buying it. his behavior was extremely unusual to her.
first it was him showing at her door to ask her to wear something pretty to the cafe and now him glancing at the door every few seconds. it’s like he was waiting for someone, but before she could think more about it, the door’s bell rings; indicating that someone entered the cafe.
“finally.” beomgyu breaths out, raising his hand to signal for the other person to see him. and when yn turns around to see who it is, her eyes almost fell out of their sockets.
“you’re late.” beomgyu grimaced as his friend reached the table, “i know, i told you i’d be late.” eunseok sighed before he pulled a chair and sat down next to beomgyu, only now noticing the silent girl who sat in front of his friend.
she had an iced cup of coffee in front of her. and her bangs were held back with miffy hair clips. miffy again.
“oh, hello.. yn, right?” he offered a smile, and she returned it shyly. “yeah, you’re eunseok?” the boy gave her a nod at that.
“i can’t believe you two lived in the same building for nearly two years and never once spoke properly before.”
“no we did, couple times in the building lobby and elevator, we just never had a real conversation before,” eunseok smiled at the girl, remembering their encounter the day before. where she embarrassed herself by dropping her bag in the elevator.
he thought her flustered state was cute.
“you spoke before?! and never told me? fake friends, what the hell” beomgyu glared at the two. “it’s nothing big, beomie.. just normal neighbor encounters.”
“yeah sure,” beomgyu shook his head; pretending to be hurt at her words.
the three, but mostly beomgyu and eunseok, kept talking about random stuff and bringing up memories, while yn remained mute. only speaking when it felt necessary; it was as if the two were her own podcast show.
suddenly, beomgyu gets a notification that has him jump from his chair immediately “oh, shit. guys i have to go, something came up.”
“is everything okay?” eunseok frowned, “yeah, but wonbin needs me at the studio, i’m really sorry.” then he turns to face eunseok:“can you make sure she gets home safely?” eunseok answers with a nod.
and with that, he leaves the two alone. yn awkwardly shifts in her chair, looking around the cafe. not many people were here considering it was a weekday. only a few here and there.
“wanna go home?” eunseok breaks the silence a few seconds later, sensing the awkwardness in the air now that beomgyu left.
“yeah,” she answers a little too quickly, which made her cringe internally, but eunseok didn’t seem to notice it.
once the two reached their building, eunseok walked with yn to her apartment, that was right next to his. after she unlocked her door, she turned to face him “thanks.. um, for walking me here.”
“no need to thank me, had to keep you safe or else beomgyu would kill me.” he let out a laugh before continuing:“do you need anything, before i go?”
yn shook her head, giving him a little smile. “no, i’m good. thank you, eunseok.” the boy returned the smile and nodded, before he took a step back. “alright, if you need anything just knock on my door, i’ll be happy to help.” and with that, both went into their homes.
after settling into her cozy home and changing into more comfortable clothes, yn texted beomgyu; assuring him that she’s home safe, and also making sure he was safe and okay.
before she could dive into her usual overthinking routine. she opened the chat with her anonymous friend, and without rethinking; she sent a text.

You know, I'm re-reading Surge/Kit's introduction arc and I'm noticing something
long winded rambling ahead!
That if Sonic had actually stopped and listened to what Surge was saying when they both initally meet, I feel like Surge could've possibly been reasoned with. Especially when you take into account that that's what's hes done previously with former foes who were able to be talked down like this.
Surge had Starline's personal opinion on Sonic practically forced on her and that's basically all that she knew as that was all that she was told and taught about him. If Sonic was allowed to give her an ounce of empathy at the -start- of this arc, rather than at the end, they could've been on a path towards a solution.
Instead, Sonic actually does what Starline did and completely went on to ignore her thinly-vieled vent in regards to what happened to her because of his (I don't wanna say carelessness, more so along the lines of...naviety?) view on second chances, and patronizes her in regards to his "solution" to his problem: telling her she has a "choice" to choose how she carries herself while also telling her in no uncertain terms that she either does it his way (aka: have another person impose his will on her) or he's not going to pull his punches if she chooses poorly (lowkey threatens her really). And repeatedly insists on this with every encounter they have after.
this goes on to reaffirm Surge in her belief's on what Starline forcibly taught her, and her own personal trauma in regards to her "creation" that she's extremely but clearly Not Very Ok about. It essentially just pushes her over the edge of no return and solidifies her resolve to see the world burn, because it BURNED her.
After Sonic learns the gravity of what Starline did, and only after, is when he actually stops and tries actually talking to her with a semblance of understanding and empathy. Which means diddly-squat to Surge (and Kit!) because of a horrific first impression that left her feeling like a cornered animal who can't trust anyone, no matter how well meaning, and desperately trying ANYTHING (modding herself with the dynamo cage to the point of risking self harm) to get the slightest reprieve from it all.
TL;DR: this all couldve been avoided if yall got surge and kit therapy after hearing them out >:/

hi !!! i was checking the ghibli museum tag and found ur post abt it from a few months ago. i noticed that your photos were taken at a later time ?? which is a bit unusual from ghibli museum pics that i see (ppl usually post pics at daytime or wtv i think?? 😭) hehe it closes at some time bw 5 to 6pm, right? do they let you take pictures outside even when the actual museum is alr closed? i'm planning to go there and was thinking of dropping by the shiro-hige/totoro cafe at 4pm or something but seeing the museum (from the outside at least) at sundown might be nice ?? 😭 sorry im... a bit of a... sap? a romantic? i'll see the museum in daytime so not much should be different in nighttime-ish but 🥹😭 i am so impractical but omg what are your thoughts on how to spend time there
yeah yeah we went a little later in the day! i was in japan around wintertime so the sun set pretty early and we got to see it set while we were there :) our reserved time was a bit later so we didnt get to spend too long there since they close at like 6 pm if i remember correctly
and yeah you arent allowed to take pics inside but you are free to take them anywhere outside! theres some cool photo spots and things to take pics of but theyre like within the museum area so you cant really take pictures after closing since they usher you outta there
i dont know if i have any specific thoughts on how to spend time there i just kinda played it by ear ^^; being there at sundown was more of a coincidence than anything else
