𝟎.𝟏: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐲 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐲.
Spencer always lived under the stigma of being a child genius. His I.Q. was 187, he could read 20,000 words per minute and had an eidetic memory.
Everyone around him told him what to do, from his mother, to his "friends," to his teachers, to his neighbors.
"Hey Spencer, with that brain of yours you could make it in the government" "Spencer you could be part of NASA" "Spencer you could be a mathematical genius like Einstein!" "Spencer you're going to get into the CIA!"
"And where are you going to go to college? Because you know Harvard is already a lock for you" "I bet you'll go to YALE, that's where all the smart ones go" "Princeton is an excellent choice for you!" "MIT could open a lot of doors for you"
Spencer this, Spencer that.
But no one really thought about what Spencer wanted. Maybe he wanted to be a magician and make children happy with his tricks. Maybe he wanted to be a trapeze artist, or a fireman, or an astronaut, or just an ice cream man.
All these expectations of Spencer reached a point where he didn't even know what he wanted in life. He lived under the shadow of the expectations and visions people had placed on him, and he didn't want to let them down. He was just a kid, a kid scared of adult life who had to impose himself because others imposed it on him.
That's how his brain made him skip grades, have to enter high school at age 12, and have to suffer a lot of abuse from the grown-ups for just being a boy genius.
Spencer sometimes wished he could make his brain disappear and have a normal one. Then he could have normal friends, go to a normal school, have a relationship, experience the problems people his age have, and be able to feel the phases of adolescence like any other kid.
But things were not like that.
He had to live the life he had been dealt, with his genius brain and the damn adult problems at 13.
CalTech was a new life he had to accept, but it wasn't as bad as the one he had before. His mind was kept busy for a long period.
He was forced to grow up around books full of equations, chemical elements and mathematical problems, managing at 16 to get his first college degree, which was Mathematics, and the following year to get a PhD in it. But he did not dislike this.
But as they say it is never enough, he kept on studying until he was 21. Thanks to this, he became a doctor of two more degrees, Chemistry and Engineering, in addition to Psychology, Sociology and Criminology.
His social life at the university was not so hectic, in fact, he only stood out for the fact that he was a boy genius, and that was it. To other people, he was a person like any other.
Until one autumn day, in the middle of his 19 years and studying psychology, his paths were interrupted by crossing that of others, and that, probably, is the person who changed his life the last years of college.
Tumblr media
It was an ordinary day in the university library. Spencer had been rereading an encyclopedia of human anatomy for two hours. Why you may wonder, well, it was his way of killing time during his free time.
Acquiring knowledge was the best way to keep his brain fed and occupied, according to the boy.
He had eaten his sandwich a couple of minutes ago and let his brain feed on information at that moment, trying to persuade his intrusive thoughts at that minute. Through the pages you could see the muscular system, focusing on the leg and foot areas.
To be honest, it looked quite interesting.
That day, leaves were beginning to fall from the trees, filling the ground with their autumn colors; there was a gentle cool breeze, a strong smell of wet dirt and people were crowded in the warmer areas of the campus. It was no surprise to anyone that the library was one of the most crowded areas, the vast majority of people were gathered around the tables as large college texts lay open on them.
Spencer was sure he had seen more than one student curse at the fact that they couldn't find what they were looking for, and then walk out of the room in exhaustion. It wasn't the first time someone had cursed his name because they found themselves reading the text they were looking for and, besides, they weren't able to approach and ask for it.
He could believe it was cowardly on their part, maybe they were too shy to be able to do it or it was an excuse to put off studying what they were looking for. Even though he considered that the The study methods they had were not very good and, if they started studying earlier, they could increase their grad-
"Excuse me."
A voice interrupted the conversation Spencer was having with himself, pushing away his intrusive thoughts that were beginning to take over his mind. The young man's head turned and he saw a girl, perhaps his age, staring at the encyclopedia in front of him.
"I asked Miss Wellington about the Rouviére and Delmas encyclopedia of human anatomy, and well..." The girl looked over Spencer's shoulder. "She told me that maybe the boy sitting at the back table had it. There are no other tables in the back and you're the only guy sitting here, so I think my deduction is correct and you have it."
"Y-yes, this is the encyclopedia you're looking for." Spencer admitted, looking at the young woman.
More than looking at her, he was admiring her. She was wearing a red skirt and hoodie with some embroidered words on it, her legs were also wearing dark leggings and some rather damaged black converses, over it she was carrying another coat and a backpack; her arms were loaded with medical and anatomy books, plus her hair was disheveled.
"Great! Must be my lucky day that a cute guy has it." Her books fell onto the table and she sat down next to Spencer.
The boy could smell the scent of tobacco and mint mixed with the scent of cherry perfume.
"May I see?" Spencer turned to look at her and, even though he was reading that book first, his head nodded. "Fine! I just want to see..." The sound of the leaves was rapid, as if a fan was moving them. "This... Nervous system."
Suddenly, and as if by magic, a notebook appeared in front of them both and quickly the girl was beginning to write on the blank sheets, even though to Spencer it looked more like a scribble than a resume as such.
"Shit, what is this?" the girl paused to read more closely. "In the central axon, the electrical signal is converted into a chemical signal, and then releases the chemical signal with chemical messengers called neur-neurotransmitters." The sound of the pencil falling on the table made the boy startle.
"Nervous system?"
"That's right, I have a lecture in three days and I'm still trying to associate concepts in the nervous system. Like my nervous system isn't nervous anymore."
Spencer chuckled to himself, the girl had a funny sense of humor.
"In fact, when the brain interprets that we are in danger, it produces a rush of adrenaline that activates the heart and muscles to place them on alert, but if prolonged, it can lead to health problems such as cardiovascular disease like heart attack and is associated with hypertension and arrhythmias and is the enhancer of other cardiovascular risk factors." Spencer turned to look at the girl, who looked quite interested in what he was saying, jotting everything down in her notebook. "But it's not that your nervous system is 'nervous', it's that it interprets that it's in danger and so it sends that kind of stimulus to your body that makes you anxious."
"I see you know about the nervous system, much more than I do." The girl scanned him from head to toe. "Are you a medical student?"
"No, CalTech doesn't have a medical degree, but I am a doctor." The boy admitted.
"How old are you?"
"Nineteen."
"Shit, and you already have a doctorate?"
"Actually I have three."
Silence stretched between the two, caused by the woman's shock.
"Are you some kind of alien or is your brain too big that it stores more information than I can retain?"
"Well, I have an IQ of 187 so I can read 20,000 words per minute, plus I have eidetic memory. But I prefer the concept of being more advanced than others."
The girl stared at him.
But to his surprise, the young woman only let out a giggle.
"You're funny, I like it." No one had ever told Spencer that he was funny. In fact, he thought that adjective didn't directly relate to him. "I'm Y/N, Y/N L/N."
"Spencer...Spencer Reid." Y/N denied.
"No, you're not Spencer."
"Excuse me?"
"You're Dr. Spencer Reid." Spencer smiled, she was right. "Well, it's nice to meet you, dr. Reid."
"Nice to meet you, Miss L/N." They both smiled.
"Well, now that I know your name, dr. Reid, we can start our friendship."
Spencer never thought making friends was so easy, even though he knew it was because the girl had gone to the trouble of calling herself his "friend," without even knowing him.
But that didn't bother him, in fact, he found it nice that someone had decided to be his friend.
Tumblr media
Overnight, Spencer's evenings began to become more colorful, smelling of tobacco and mint, and filled with questions from Y/N, his new friend.
Although, at first, Spencer didn't seem comfortable around the girl, he quickly got used to it. He had learned several things about Y/N over the days, such as that she was a medical student at Pasadena City College, a college a couple of blocks from CalTech; she was the youngest in the family and had an older brother who had been diagnosed with leukemia a couple of years ago.
He had also learned that she was very into fashion, lived in an apartment complex nearby, smoked a couple of years ago, and only liked menthol tobacco cigarettes. Her favorite color was orange, but she didn't think it looked good on her, and she didn't see herself going to medical school, but she wanted to be a singer.
The first time Spencer heard Y/N sing was during a kermes in Pasadena City, she had been invited to sing on behalf of the medical school. Spencer never liked the idea of being around so many people, let alone at a kermes which was as unsanitary as possible, but his new "best friend" had begged him to go.
He couldn't say no.
He remembered perfectly how her hands shook with nerves, how she bit her lip as she cleared her throat and watched her bandmates, aka Y/N's other friends, rehearse with their instruments.
He knew she had practiced for this moment a bunch of times, had more than once arrived at Spencer's dorm wet from head to toe from running in the rain after a rehearsal, and hummed the songs under her breath every time they studied together in the library.
She was more than ready, but her own fears sometimes made her afraid of her talent.
Reid's eyes were on her, smiling confidently to convey that feeling as a guitar began to play the first chords, and announced the start of her performance.
Spencer didn't know what song it was, he wasn't even sure if the song was to his taste, but when he heard Y/N's voice he knew it had become his favorite song.
“Her name is Noelle
I have a dream about her, she rings my bell
I got gym class in half an hour
And, oh, how she rocks
In Keds and tube socks
But she doesn't know who I am
And she doesn't give a damn about me”
Their gaze was on each other, as if they were the only ones in that large space. The few times the eye contact was broken was when Y/N closed her eyes.
The song ended successfully and an avalanche of applause greeted Y/N, who thanked the audience for their attention. Soon another band filled the stage and for a few seconds, Spencer lost sight of Y/N. He wanted to tell her how great she had turned out, how all her effort and practice had made everything come out perfectly and that she looked like a total rockstar on stage.
"Spence! How was it, did you like it?" Y/N hugged the boy's arm, who turned to look at her with a sweet smile on his face.
"It was amazing, Y/N. Everyone loved it." Affirmed the boy.
"I was so nervous, I was so afraid it wouldn't go well, but I saw you there, and I felt like I could do it. You're my lucky charm, Spencie."
Spencer felt something jump in his chest.
"Let's get something to eat, I'm dying for some corn-dogs." Said the opposite.
"Y-yeah, let's get something to eat, my treat."
Tumblr media
The day Spencer was accepted into the FBI academy was probably the most bittersweet day of his entire life.
At 22 years old, and in the middle of finishing his college semester for what felt like the fifth time, a letter arrived in his dorm room.
A letter of acceptance.
He could feel that all his hard work had been rewarded by whoever was up there. He quickly put on his sneakers and ran a marathon to the medical building at Pasadena City College.
His best friend's short red hair he could quickly visualize as he saw her smoking by the entrance, she seemed to be listening to something on her MP4 and bobbing her head to the beat of-who-knows-what song.
"Y/N! Y/N!" Spencer's voice sounded agitated, trying to get her best friend's attention.
The, now, redhead removed her earpiece and turned to see the tall boy running towards her.
"Spence?" From her mouth came the tobacco smoke, causing her to let the cigarette burn between her fingers.
"I made it, I got into the academy!"
The two big hazel eyes made contact with those of the girl, who dropped the cigarette to the sidewalk and hugged her friend tightly.
"I can't believe it, Spence! You did it! You did it! My goodness, I couldn't be prouder!" The younger girl began to do some jumping jacks as she didn't let go of her grip on his embrace.
"Thank you, Y/N. I couldn't have done it without you, you were the one who stuck with me through this whole process."
"You don't have to thank me, dorkie. I knew you'd make it, they couldn't leave out a genius like you." Soon they both disengaged from the embrace and the girl looked at the boy's face. "W-where is the academy? Tell me."
"I don't know, I-I didn't fully read the letter." He admitted embarrassed.
"Then read it! Go on." The girl took him by the arm and forced him to sit down on the faculty stairs.
Slowly, Spencer began to read the letter while Y/N listened intently to every word.
"The course begins on September 23rd of the current year in..." A pause.
Y/N looked at Spencer, who had stopped reading the letter.
"Where, Spence, what does it say?"
"The course begins September 23rd of the current year in Quantico, Virginia."
Y/N felt like a bucket of cold water had just been dropped on her.
Quantico? That was on the other side of the country!
"Q-quantico? Spence, that's on the other side of the-"
"Country, I know Y/N. I-I... I can't do it, I can't."
"What the fuck are you talking about!" The girl stood up startled, looking accusingly at her best friend. "No, I refuse. You have to do it, it's your dream, Spence! What you've always wanted for the last three years that I've known you, I refuse to let you back down now, I won't allow it!"
Spencer looked up from the letter, watching Y/N who was looking at him with her face burning with anger.
"You know I can't do that, what's going to happen to my mom? You know what's going on with her and her schizophrenia, I can't leave her alone."
"She would want you to go, Spence. Her happiness is where yours is, you know she'll be able to do it, there are plenty of options to help her." A long silence settled between the two of them.
Spencer didn't want to leave California, he didn't want to leave his mother or Y/N, he couldn't.
"Spencer Reid, I know what you're thinking right now, but I won't let you let this opportunity pass you by. You have dreamed of this exact moment for years, for as long as I have known you you have always wanted to go to the academy and you have done everything in your power to do so. Now they are offering it to you on a silver platter, you have to do it, there is nothing more you can do here in California. You've already studied all the existing careers in the world, you've already done what anyone in 50 years would have done and at your short 22 years you're already a doctor of three careers." The girl settled back down beside him, letting her icy hand wrap around Spencer's warm one. "You can't just limit yourself to staying here just because you have an engagement, the world has to know who Dr. Spencer Reid is like I know him, you have to go."
Spencer drew an elongated smile, feeling his body fill with that feeling of sadness that pervaded him from head to toe.
The redhead's words were true, it was his dream. But he didn't want to leave the only thing that made him happy on the other side of the country, he would love to carry it in his pocket to Virginia and have his dose of serotonin after each day.
He didn't want to stop smelling her tobacco and minty breath, the cherry smell coming off her clothes and the blueberry smell coming off her hair. He wanted to keep seeing the reddish locks of hair on his clothes and the cheesy paper notes in his pockets every time they met. He wanted to keep listening to the music on Y/N's MP4 every time he went to her apartment and drink coffee with lots of sugar that she made for him, keep hearing her voice in the shower and get biology questions at three in the morning every time she had a test.
He wanted to go to thrift stores to try on printed T-shirts and watch Y/N's camera fill up with pictures of the two of them, keep going to her shows with her band and eat frozen pizza after every gig.
He wanted to keep being with her.
But if she was letting him go, then he had to let her go too.
"I think I can go on living without hearing your bad jokes." Spencer's words lifted Y/N's spirits, who gave him a playful smile.
"Hey! My jokes are the best, last time you laughed for two hours."
"Because it was stupid."
They both laughed, letting the tension of the moment go with the last echo of their laughter.
"So you'll go across the country to make me proud?"
"Yes, I'll go make you proud."
Y/N's arms wrapped around Spencer's body, resting her head in the space of his shoulder and chin.
"I'm glad you didn't make a dumb decision."
Staying here with you isn't a dumb decision, Spencer thought.
They both pulled apart.
"Well, screw the skeleton. Let's go to the library and write your answer."
The girl's small hand imprisoned the boy's large hand, guiding him to the library to write what would be Spencer's fate.
Tumblr media
The flight from California to Washington was five hours.
Five hours where Spencer and Y/N would be separated, and they would have to accept that fate had something different in store for the two of them.
Despite California being a sunny paradise, that day he wanted to keep the two friends company as they said goodbye at the airport.
"You already know my number, you know you can call me whenever you want." Commented the girl, who was in charge of carrying the book she had given him to read during the trip.
"I'm not such a fan of technology, you know that."
"There are pay phones over there too, Spence. It only costs a couple of cents to call me, plus they must have landlines there, and you have my email." The girl stopped in front of the door that separated goodbyes with new beginnings. "And if not, you can send me a letter. You know my address."
"A letter doesn't sound bad at all, in fact, for centuries, it was one of the most widely used means of communication by human civilizations since man began to write and whose importance transcended nations. The oldest courier service ever found was in Egypt in 2400 B.C. and in 1840, Sir Rowland Hill created the first postage stamp, which was called Penny Black, which was a profile drawing of Queen Victoria of England that had the rate 'One Penny' written on it."
"Oh Spence, I'm going to miss your fun facts about absurdly boring things." Commented the girl before she could hug him.
Spencer felt his heart clench.
"I'll miss you listening to me." They both turned in an embrace so tight it could take all the oxygen out of their bodies.
Neither wanted to be the first to say goodbye, neither was ready to leave the other. Their hearts were bound together like puzzle pieces, and just as when you lose one, the puzzle will no longer be complete.
"Now, you must go, your flight is about to leave." Y/N commented, separating from the young man as she wiped away the small tear that escaped from her eyes. "Miss me a lot, huh? And show off how pretty your best friend is."
"Always. Remember that wherever you are, whatever you do or whoever you're with, you'll always be in my heart."
A pout settled in Y/N's mouth, who felt like she was letting a part of her go with Spencer.
"Don't forget about me, because I will never forget about you." Demanded the girl, who was pushing the boy to go for his flight.
"It's impossible for me to forget you, I have an eidetic memory." He said laughing, waving goodbye as he received the book the girl handed him.
The two met in a final embrace, where Spencer could smell the girl's cherry and menthol tobacco scent for the last time.
"Write me!" Y/N vociferated, waving goodbye to the boy who nodded and disappeared behind the airport doors.
Y/N and Spencer didn't know that at that moment fate would place them on trial, causing their paths to diverge for many years until, magically, they would come together again.
“When two souls are meant to meet, fate brings worlds closer, erases distances, joins paths and defies the impossible.” Anonymous.

Tumblr media

Title: I can't believe you're here.
Author: Tory / @tkwrites
Relationship: Quinn Hughes x Sarah Roberts
Warnings: Unprotected sex - p in v (wrap it up unless you’re in a consenting relationship!), Captain kink unlocked, oral & fingering (f receiving), squirting, swearing, surprise visit, if I missed anything, please let me know.
Summary: After a very long time apart due to bad timing, Sarah surprises Quinn on the road. Wearing his jersey, she fulfills one of his long harbored fantasies. The night just gets better when he sees what she has on underneath.
Word Count: 6,000
Comments:
Hoo boy. This is by far the most depraved thing I’ve written. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
If you did enjoy it, please let me know! Your comments and questions inspire me to keep writing!
To the lovely anon who requested this: I hope it lives up to your expectations. I had so much fun writing it.
Anonymous asked: 'In some ways, he’d love to see his name across her back, but not at a game.' Ohhh, I'd love to see something about this in the future. Later on in their relationship, he's on a roadie and not seen Sarah for 4 weeks due to it and some study trip prior. He has just played either Brady or his brothers who noticed he's really down and missing her, they call Sarah and organise to fly her to his next destination to suprise him after the game. She's waiting in his hotel room, wearing nothing but his jersey to cheer him up after a loss 😉 Or a more wholesome storyline of her first WAG jacket or something aha Absolutely love all your pieces and can't wait to continue reading of their universe xx
I can't believe you're here.
A Quinn & Sarah Snapshot
Fatigue and failure were deep in his bones as he walked into the hotel.
Logically, Quinn knew winning streaks always come to an end. It was impossible to have a perfect 82 game season. No one had ever come close to that.
It didn't matter how much he tried to reason, it still felt like shit to be on the receiving end of a shut out after two straight losses.
The fact that they were still on the road didn’t help. The fourteen day trek away from home was always terrible, no matter when it fell in the season, but having it come right after Sarah had to be at a conference was torture. It meant he hadn’t seen her in over 12 days.
It was terrible timing. The day after he got back from the six day Midwest road trip, she left for a seven day ocean conservation conference in Costa Rica. She got back two days after he had to leave again.
It had been nineteen long days since he'd seen her for more than twenty four hours.
They talked and sent messages and photos, but it wasn’t the same as talking face to face and kissing her and feeling her skin and smelling her perfume.
He’d learned from the past and brought her pillowcase with him, but even that was beginning to smell less and less like her.
He only had to get through three more games and five and a half more days before he'd be back home and in her arms.
One of the team assistants ran up to him in the lobby, “Hughes,” he said, a little breathless, “they changed your room.”
“What?” he asked, trying to pull himself from his misery and back to the present.
“They had to change your room. Something about the heater being broken,” Sean said.
“Okay. Petey still with me?”
“No, they had to separate you,” Sean forced the key into his hand as they stepped on the elevator, “I already moved your bags.”
He’d slept four quick hours in a room that felt perfectly fine before heading to the pre-game meeting and meal. He couldn’t remember if he’d left his stuff all over the bathroom counter. Hopefully, Sean didn’t have to go through too much trouble. Quinn definitely owed him dinner.
The room was dark when he walked in. And it smelled like… it smelled like Sarah’s smoky vanilla perfume.
Fuck. He missed her so much, his mind was playing tricks on him.
At least he would have a room to himself, and could call her in peace without the threat of Petey listening in. They could probably even get some phone sex in, which hadn’t happened for far too long.
Then, he would get a full night's sleep before their flight to Chicago. That, in itself, was a rare luxury he was outrageously thankful for.
When he flipped on the light, the first thing he noticed was the king size bed. The bedspread was mussed, as if someone had been lying on it. Strange for any hotel, but especially one this nice. Rooms he came into often looked so pristine, it was as if no one had ever stepped foot in them before.
He pushed the worry out of his mind and started toward the bathroom.
“Hey.”
Great, now he was hallucinating. It sounded like Sarah was right behind him. He must be more tired than he thought.
“Quinn?”
He stopped dead in his tracks, backpack nearly slipping to the floor. If he turned and she wasn’t here, he didn’t know what he’d do.
A touch grazed his shoulder, and a strong whiff of her perfume made his knees shake. “Sarah?” he asked, hoping against hope. Why would she be here?
“Yeah,” she said.
He turned and felt a strange, strangled sort of gasp escape his throat.
Sarah was in his hotel room. She was here. She was in Boston. How was she here?
When his brain finally reconciled the fact that she was actually in front of him, he noticed she was wearing his flying skate jersey.
“I - how?”
She smiled softly, set his backpack aside and wrapped her arms around him.
His body caught on before his brain did, hugging her against him fiercely.
Coming home from her conference in Costa Rica, which had been lovely but incredibly socially exhausting, all Sarah had wanted was to fall into bed with Quinn. When she came home to a dark and empty house, it had been a rude reminder he was on the longest road trip of the year. The apartment felt too big without him in it, especially for so long.
“I missed you so much,” she said into his neck.
“How did you do this?” he finally asked.
He’d known other players' wives and girlfriends occasionally showed up on road trips, but generally, their partners always knew, and it was usually because they were close by one of their hometowns.
“Brady called me. He said you were so sad and not yourself on Wednesday, he wanted to do something. So he bought me a ticket and called Brock to get the schedule.”
He sniffed and she pulled back.
“Oh, Quinn,” she said upon seeing the tears pooled in his eyes.
“I’m just…” The shock of seeing her brought all his emotion up to the surface.
“I know,” she said, pulling him into her again, feeling a few tears slip down her own cheeks. It felt so good to hold him.
His mouth landed on her neck. It was a comforting thing to taste her skin as they embraced. He mumbled something against her.
“Sorry?” she asked, trying to pull away so she could see his face.
He didn’t want to let her go, not even for a second. Instead, he lifted his lips just enough so he could repeat, “I missed you so much.”
“I know Quinny,” she said, running her fingers into his hair. “I missed you, too, but I’m here now, and we have all night.”
His mouth was still on her neck, though he’d started moving with more intent, licking and kissing. The shock to his system was giving way to relief and desire.
Finally fed up with his teasing, Sarah took his jaw in her hands and forced his head up so she could kiss him.
He sighed into it, and found some way to pull her tighter against him.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew she was wearing his jersey, but the shock of her in his hotel room, seeing her face and her blue eyes and her lips - god her lips, he couldn't get enough of them - stole all of his brain power. Now, as his hands splayed across her back, feeling the numbers patched and stitched there, the reality of it hit him.
Forcing himself to break away so he could look at her, his knees threatened to buckle when he noticed she wasn’t wearing anything else - not that he could see anyway. The fabric hit her upper thigh, leaving much of her legs bare.
“I -” he tried to say something, but lost the words.
The idea of wearing his jersey came from Emma. Sarah thought it was cheesy, but Emma assured her he’d love it. She’d surprised Brady at the end of a roadtrip like that, and “I swear his brain, like, short-circuited or something. He just stood there, staring at me for like 30 seconds before he went wild.”
It didn’t surprise her Quinn didn’t have the same immediate reaction. He was so much quieter than Brady, and from what she could tell, they had a much more subdued relationship than the Tkachuks.
The way he was looking at her now, though - like she was the thing he'd been anxiously waiting for on Christmas morning - made it all worthwhile.
“I borrowed it, I hope that’s okay.”
“Yeah,” he breathed.
When they were apart, the mechanics of an orgasm could be there, but it just wasn't as good. It could never be. She missed feeling him: his skin, his breath, the rigid length of him inside her.
It wasn’t that she’d been hoping he’d ravish her right away (okay, maybe she had been, but she knew Quinn, and knew he would never react that way), but all this looking without any touching was getting out of hand. Impatience was pulling tight through her stomach. The prospect of finally feeling fulfilled was driving her crazy.
She needed to give him a little nudge.
Leaning in, she let her lips graze his ear, down to his jaw and then back. He made a soft, breathy noise, and she knew she almost had him.
Just one more push.
“How do you want me?” she asked, following it up with a slow, open mouthed kiss to the soft spot under his ear.
Blood rushed from his head so fast he felt dizzy.
“I want you to ride me in this,” he managed to say, fingering the stripes on the sleeve.
It was a fantasy he'd harbored since middle school, but had yet to experience. He'd asked his college girlfriend once, and she had scoffed, telling him it would get too hot, which he thought was a strange argument considering a jersey was designed to do the exact opposite.
Sarah didn’t acknowledge his request other than popping open the buttons of his shirt, one after the other. That set him into motion, tugging at his clothing. He couldn’t get it off fast enough.
Through a jumble of arms and hands, tangling in their effort to get him naked, they found themselves on the bed. Quinn flat on his back, breath heavy with anticipation, and Sarah astride him, trying to game plan her next move. She had on lingerie he’d never seen before and didn’t want it to go to waste, but he wanted her in the jersey, and she couldn’t take anything off without spoiling the surprise.
He grew impatient as she debated, shifting his hips up, trying to entice her onto him already. “Sarah,” he whined.
Finally, she decided to just move it to the side, and sink onto him. The stretch after so long was a pleasant burn.
His eyes rolled back, and his hips jumped, wanting to fill her more.
“How are you so wet?” he asked. They hadn’t kissed for that long. Usually, it took a little more to get her this soaked.
A wicked smile spread over her face, “I may have gotten myself off while I was waiting, thinking about finally seeing you again.”
“Fuck.”
She was a vision. Riding him after so long? Wearing his jersey? Confessing to touching herself in this bed thinking of and waiting for him? He was the luckiest man on the planet.
She pitched forward to get the right angle, and moaned, loud and earnest. Good thing they moved him two floors up from the team.
He tried to brace himself, but the fantasy of it, of her being here and wearing his jersey - the golden C winking at him, reminding him of all the work he'd done to get here - knowing his name was on her back made him groan out loud. His restraint stretched until it was paper thin.
His hands explored under the jersey only to feel something smooth tied at her hip and lace at her ribcage.
He coughed, “are you wearing lingerie?”
“Just for you,” she said, meeting his heated gaze with a coy smile.
He didn’t think this could get any better. Now, his mind was wild with possibilities.
“Come for me and I'll show you.”
Holy shit.
The little control he had snapped and he flooded her with a loud groan of her name.
Sarah's hands traced his arms, entwining their fingers before guiding them to rest on either side of his head as she leaned forward to kiss him.
His chest pressed into hers, catching the scratchy logo on his jersey as he tried to catch his breath. “You’re incredible, you know that?”
Shaking her head, she pushed herself off of him to go to the bathroom. She needed to clean up and readjust before the next part of her plan could move forward.
He lay there and tried to wrap his mind around what had just happened. It was almost too fast for him to remember the way he wanted. The bathroom door opened, and he looked over.
“Alright, captain,” she said, leaning on the door frame. She felt incredibly silly, but relished the way his eyes widened at the nickname, “are you ready to see what I have for you?”
Oh God.
He nodded, though he wasn’t sure how he could possibly be prepared for what was coming.
“Do you want to, or should I?” she asked, fiddling with the hem of his jersey, exposing the little heart tattooed on her thigh.
“You can.” His voice squeaked a little as he said it, and he blushed.
Being sexy wasn’t really in her forte, but Sarah tried her best. Lifting the jersey over her head, she thought briefly about tossing it in his face. Deciding that was a step too far, she let it fall to the floor.
Quinn gaped.
Most of the time, Sarah wore cotton briefs - occasionally she switched them for lace or a thong, but this was something totally different than what he was used to seeing her in.
For one, the matching set was so sheer, he could see her nipples through the swirling pattern of the black lace. Then, there was the fact that it was obviously made to be removed. The bra tied in front and her underwear tied at the hips, each with a silky black ribbon, like she was a gift for him to unwrap.
His mind ran away with the thought of tugging the bow on her bra undone with his teeth.
When she did a little twirl so he could see the back, the breath knocked out of his lungs. She looked so damn good, she might just kill him. His heart might just explode.
“What do you think?” she asked, walking closer. She could already see how much he liked it in his wide eyes and panting mouth, but she wanted to hear him say it.
“I -” He didn't know it was possible to get hard so soon after coming.
“Do you like it, Captain?”
His breathing hitched. He never thought he'd have a captain kink, but hearing the title come out of her mouth while she was wearing that? He might just develop one.
Adjusting the bows at her hips so they sat more naturally, Sarah looked at him and repeated, “do you like it, Quinn?”
“Fuck,” he breathed. “Yes. I love it.”
She smiled and climbed onto the bed then straddled him. His hands went to her waist of their own volition.
Her hips ground down.
“You can’t do that,” he said, teeth gritted as he forced the words over a moan. The soft texture of the lace against his cock was incredible.
“What?”
“You can’t ride me again. I won’t last and you haven’t come yet.”
She leaned down so her mouth was inches from his, her breath making him hyper aware of his own mouth and how much he wanted it on her.
“And what are you going to do about that, Captain Hughes?”
He topped her so fast that Sarah grunted and let out a little giggle when her back slammed into the mattress.
“Sorry,” he breathed, only half meaning it as he planted a wet kiss at the base of her throat. He moved down her chest, following the outline of her bra with his mouth. He almost made good on his fantasy of biting it open, but held off. He wanted to watch her fall apart with it on.
“What were you thinking about when you were getting yourself off?” he asked, kissing over her tattoo.
“You,” she panted.
“And what were you imagining me doing?”
She whined.
“What was I doing, Sarah?” he asked, lifting his mouth from where he’d just kissed down to the band of her panties.
“You were eating me out,” she confessed, a blush rising high on her cheeks.
Sometimes, he wished she would have told him how much she fantasized about and enjoyed oral sex before the first time he’d done it. There were four solid months he could have been pleasing her he would never get back.
He smirked a little, “is that what you want now?”
“Yes.”
“Yes what?” he asked, tracing his fingers up and down her thighs.
“Yes, Quinn.”
He tutted, “Yes, what?” he asked as his lips went to her inner thigh.
The bolt of electricity that fractured up her spine tipped her voice into a high, breathy whimper.
When she didn’t answer, he repeated the question again, ghosting his fingers against the lace of her panties.
Her hips jumped. “Yes, Captain.”
Oh, it was definitely a kink now. He couldn’t get over the sound of it coming out of her mouth.
He made a satisfied noise and hooked two fingers under the lace gusset, pulling it away from her experimentally. The ties pulled taught, but didn't seem to want to slide over her hips. He tugged again, a little harder.
Flinging a hand down, Sarah grasped the band, “you're going to rip them.”
“I'll buy you more,” he said, almost off handedly, still pulling.
“Quinn, that's not the point. Please don't.”
The pulling stopped, and he pulled back to look into her face. “Okay. I'm sorry.”
Her face melted into a smile, “thank you.” She reached down to ease the ties over her hips.
“No,” he breathed.
Her eyes snapped to his, questioning.
Before she could ask what he wanted instead, he was knocking her hand away and licking one of the ribbons at her left hip into his mouth.
He pulled it away from her with his teeth, eyes growing darker when the bow unraveled and the pieces fell apart.
Taking his time to kiss and lick his way to the other tie, he repeated the action, and groaned when it also untied so easily.
He pulled on the whole thing and flung the garment away. It sailed somewhere across the room, ties flailing.
Sarah bought this set because it was cute and sort of reminiscent of her black bikini he liked so much. She didn't realize what a fetish he would have for the bows.
Settling back between her legs, she whined as he parted her lips and blew on her hot core. Shivers ran up her spine and down to all her fingers and toes.
“What were you thinking about?”
“What do you mean?”
“When you were touching yourself, what were you thinking about me doing?”
“You were eating me out,” she repeated, confused.
His laugh chuffed a burst of hot air against her that had her squirming.
“I mean how. What exactly was I doing?
“You want me to describe it to you?”
“I want to do it for you,” he confessed, voice gravelly.
She made a little squeaking noise that told him how much that idea excited her.
“Tell me how you want me to touch you,” he said before he leaned in to press his tongue against her, just to feel her twitch.
Something inside her broke. Even though she felt depraved at the very thought of telling him this, it was too late to go back. The possibility of feeling it had taken over her body and wouldn’t let it go.
“You had your fingers on my g-spot,” she breathed.
“How many?”
She squirmed again.
“How many, Sarah?” he repeated, circling her entrance, enthralled at the way she flexed.
“Two.” Her mind made her continue and she squeaked, “then three.”
His eyes widened and shot to hers. “Will they fit?”
She nodded. “If you get me off first, they should.”
His eyes were blown dark and full of mischief when he glanced down then back up to meet hers again. “And how was I using my mouth?”
She moaned out loud just thinking about it. “You were doing that suck and flick thing with your tongue.”
He had no idea what she meant.
He'd done it before: the night they'd been eliminated from the finals last season, but she couldn't very well bring that up. I want you to eat me out the way you did when you'd had one of the worst nights of your career? There was no way. Maybe if she demonstrated...
“I can show you,” she said, grasping one of his shoulders, “I need a part of you.”
He toyed for a moment with the idea of presenting her his dick, but if he did that, he wouldn’t want to stop feeling her mouth, which defeated the whole purpose of this. Instead, he crawled over her and tipped his head to expose the column of his throat.
His eyes rolled back as her open mouth connected with his hypersensitive skin. She ran her tongue over his pulse, following it with her bottom lip, before ending with suction, and a flick with the tip of her tongue.
Moaning, he ground against her hot center when she did it again and again.
He wrenched himself away before he could follow through with his desires to sheath himself and take her any way she would let him.
Settling back onto his stomach, he shook his head to get back into the right frame of mind before leveling his gaze with her perfect, pretty pearl again.
He tried to follow the movement of her mouth, and her hips jumped at the feeling.
“Quinn,” she whined as he eased two fingers into her, curling them against that sensitive spot. “Oh my god.”
He continued on. She could feel the movement of his chin, up and down and in and out with each pass of his tongue.
“Harder,” she begged.
He dug his fingers into her soft spot even more.
Throwing her head back, she moaned loudly. “Oh my god, Quinn. Just like that. Don't stop. Please don't stop.”
Like he would ever stop when she was at his mercy like this. Grinding into the mattress, he continued on, moaning at the way her body undulated as she moved with him.
She let out a gasping noise as if someone had forced all the air out of her in one swift hit. Her core began to pulse around his fingers, trying to suck them deeper inside her.
Tipping her chin back, Sarah sighed as wave after soft wave of pleasure crashed over her.
When she stopped contracting so tightly, he waited until one of her aftershocks passed to work another finger into her.
Her voice echoed around the hotel room as she cried out.
He said a silent prayer of thanks to whoever had the wherewithal to separate them from the team. There was no way he wanted anyone, let alone someone who knew them, to overhear this.
“So good, Quinn,” she croaked out. “Feels so full.”
He continued kissing her bundle of nerves the way she wanted, pausing every few passes to suck a little more intensely.
A surge of pleasure coiled low in her belly, winding tighter and tighter until every breath ended in a moan. She felt so full and stretched open. So… Alive. All other thoughts fell out of her brain except Quinn and his silver tongue and wicked fingers.
Feeling as if she might just shatter to pieces if she didn't get some relief, Sarah moaned and panted and begged, “please, Quinn. Please.”
She had no idea what she was asking for, but the waves of pleasure kept coming and coming until it was winding up her spine and pulling so tight, she thought it might just wrench every vertebrae apart and fill each gap with the soft promise of her impending release.
He could feel her high building and kept urging her up the slope. Anxious for her summit, he sealed his mouth to her, milking her clit like her orgasm might just satiate his hunger.
“Quinn,” she gasped, spine arching as her hands abandoned her nipples and rummaged for some way to ground herself. One ended up in his hair, and the other fisted into the bedspread. “Oh my god. I think I'm gonna…”
Her voice dissolved into a noise he'd never heard her make as her muscles locked around his fingers. He forced them to continue, working through her orgasm.
Quite suddenly, as pleasure whirled through her veins, a feeling, intense and ferocious, swelled within her.
As a tsunami of white-hot ecstasy crashed over her, he unlocked a space deep within her she didn't even know existed.
“Oh, fuck! Quinn!”
Something molten erupted in her belly like a long dormant volcano.
Vaguely, she heard him groan as if every fantasy he'd ever had was being fulfilled.
Though he knew women could, he’d never seen it in person, never even imagined what feeling her release gush over his hand would be like.
Sometime last season, Beauvillier had gone on and on about making his girl squirt, and Quinn remembered wishing he would keep it to himself. He didn't want to think about that every time he saw them together.
Now, having experienced it first hand, he understood why Tito wanted to tell everyone he knew.
Pleasure continued to ripple through her. No high had ever gone on this long. It eased away the tension that had knotted up in her body, until all at once, sensitivity and overstimulation set in.
“Too much, too much,” she croaked, trying to squirm away from his touch.
He’d been so mesmerized watching her face, he hadn't realized his fingers were still moving. They uncoiled and stilled, and she melted into the mattress as a sigh melted from her lips.
Her chest rose and fell steeply, the tie of her bra pulling taught with every heavy inhale, making the cups ride up the swell of her breasts. God, she was so beautiful.
It took quite a while for her to come down. He gently eased his fingers out only after she stopped pulsing.
A whine escaped her throat at the sudden emptiness.
Slowly coming back to herself, Sarah registered something wet underneath her.
“Oh my god,” she breathed. “Did I -” her eyes darted to his as her face flushed with the reality of what had just happened, “did you make me squirt?”
“Yeah," he said, crawling over her again, "and it was the hottest fucking thing I've ever seen in my life.”
The embarrassment she felt at making such a mess ebbed away with his confession.
“No one's ever done that to me before. I haven't even been able to.”
A look of immense pride took over his face. “Did you like it? I mean, it seemed like you liked it.”
She nodded, “I've never felt anything like it.”
He brought his lips to hers, and the taste of herself on his tongue made her passion throb to life again.
“Well, Captain,” she said a little while later, smiling at the way his jaw slackened and eyelids grew heavy at the title. “I think I've got one more round in me. What do you want?”
He twitched against her.
“I just want you,” he brought his mouth to her neck. “Want to feel you come on my cock,” he murmured into her skin.
“I think we can arrange for that,” she said, fingers winding into his hair.
Bracing up on his elbows, his gaze fell to her bra.
Instead of using his mouth, he twirled one of the ribbons around his finger and pulled gently to ease the bow undone. It fell apart, revealing a knot in the middle.
“It kept coming undone,” Sarah confessed, hands coming up to help him with the knot, which had pulled incredibly tight amidst her heavy breathing and writhing around.
“I think it's stuck. I can't get it out while it's on me, anyway,” she said, raising her arms above her head. “Here.”
At least he'd been able to remove her bottoms the way he wanted. He eased the lace over the swell of her breasts and helped her lift it off.
He made love to her the way he did whenever he got home from a long time away - earnestly and full of wonder, compliments falling from his lips like raindrops, as if they didn’t cost a thing.
“Fuck, Sarah, you feel so good.”
“I can't believe you're mine.”
“You're so pretty. I can't stop looking at you.”
“God, I'm so lucky.”
They didn’t cost him anything, but they made Sarah feel like she was worth a million dollars.
“I love that sound,” he murmured when she gasped in pleasure and followed it with a low moan.
As he drove into her again and again, he shuttered and moaned, feeling like she was going to shatter him into a million little pieces
He'd been hot all night. A sheen of sweat had spread over his skin as soon as she'd climbed on top of him in his jersey. The prospect of a fantasy being fulfilled sending his body into a frenzy. Working her up to that intense high hadn't been a walk in the park either. He'd been on edge and so focused. Now, he felt like his body was on fire.
She felt and sounded and looked so good. He couldn't think of anything but her.
When she tipped her face to the side with a loud moan, he attacked her jaw and neck with his lips, desperate to taste her again.
She was here. She was in Boston. She was here, in his hotel, in Boston. He just made her squirt, and he didn't have to be down to the bus until 10 the next morning. He must have been doing something right.
When he felt her fall apart around his cock, he breathed through it and hung on for dear life, twitching with the bliss of it.
Coming down from her high, Sarah was mesmerized by him. The defined set of his jaw, the sweaty sheen to his skin, how his curls fell over his forehead.
“You're so handsome, Quinn.”
She knew he was holding on, hoping to urge another high from her, but she didn't have one to give him. It was time to send him over the edge.
Propping up on her elbows, she traced her mouth along his jaw up to his ear. He let out a panicked little whimper.
“Want to feel you,” she whispered. "Want you to fill me up."
His hips stuttered.
“Come for me, Captain.”
White spots blipped in his vision and he had no choice but to obey.
Her name fell from his mouth like a prayer as she pulled him over the edge.
When they walked back in the room after showering, Sarah realized just how much of a mess she'd made of the bed. There was no way they could sleep in it as it was.
“Oh no.”
“What?” Quinn asked, lowering the towel he was running over his hair.
“We need new sheets and housekeeping is going to know exactly what we've been doing.”
“No they won't.”
She pointed to the bed, “you want to tell me they're not going to know we weren't just having sex?”
He laughed, “fine. So they might know. What does it matter? It's not like we know any of them.”
“It's so embarrassing.”
“What is? That your boyfriend made you come so hard you squirted?”
“No,” she was blushing though, “I mean…no. That was amazing.”
“So what's the worry?”
“I just…I don't want anyone else to see.”
He laughed, “that's fair. I can just ask them to bring some extra bedding. No one has to come into the room.”
She nodded, “okay.”
He called the desk, and despite his insistence he would prefer to make the bed himself, the hotel sent someone up anyway.
Sarah folded the comforter before hiding in the bathroom.
Quinn noticed the housekeeper's eyes lingering in one corner of the room. When he glanced over, he saw Sarah’s panties from where he'd thrown them, ties scrawled over the carpet like calligraphy strokes. So much for being discreet.
After giving the woman a tip, he tucked them in Sarah's suitcase before letting her know the coast was clear.
As they settled into bed, Quinn relished holding her close.
Before sleep could overtake her completely, Sarah needed to set something straight.
“I hope you know that Captain thing is only for special occasions. There is no way I'm calling you Captain all the time.”
“That’s fine,” he said, laughing. “Makes it more special when you do.”
“To be fair, I didn’t expect you to like it so much,” she said.
She’d called him Captain as a kind of joke, and half expected him to tell her not to do it again. Quinn didn’t even like pet names. She vividly remembered the way he grimaced the first (and last) time she called him baby.
He ran his fingers through her soft hair. “I don’t know that I would have either. I’ve never had that happen before. You said it, and it went straight to my dick. I think your lingerie had something to do with that.”
She propped herself up on an elbow. “You liked the lingerie?” she teased, full well knowing the answer.
He scoffed, “I'm going to dream about it for the rest of this damn road trip.”
Giggling, she leaned down to kiss him. “Maybe I'll have it on when you get home,” she said against his mouth.
He groaned, “don't joke about that.”
“Why not? Wouldn't it give you something to look forward to?”
“I always look forward to coming home to you.”
She looked down at him for a long time, memorizing the love in his eyes. “I love you, Captain Hughes,” she said before lowering her mouth to his to tell him that way too.
“Tease,” he chided when she pulled away.
She smiled and settled back, laying her head on his chest.
“I love you, too,” he whispered into her hair before they fell asleep. “I can't believe you're here.”
The next morning, Sarah put his jersey back on and put his morning hard on to good use - slower this time so he could remember it properly.
After room service breakfast and a very steamy shower, he walked her down to the lobby to catch her car to the airport.
“I love you,” he said, kissing her forehead.
“I love you too.”
“Thank you for coming.”
“You're welcome. You should really be thanking Brady, though.”
He watched her pull away before heading back to his room to pack his bag.
On the elevator ride, Quinn did just as Sarah suggested.
Love you man. I owe you big time.

Conrad Fisher x Eldest Conklin Sibling Reader
Blurb | Chapter 1 | Chapter 2
~~~~~~~~~~
The first day always went the same. Unpack, swim, shower, nap, dinner. Sometimes the first bonfire of the season was the first day we got there, other times it was the next day. This year it was the first. So today’s order was, unpack, swim, shower, nap, dinner, get ready, party.
We all gathered around the table for dinner in our usual spots. My Mom, Belly, and me on one side,  Steven and Jere across from us, then Conrad on the end next to me, and Sussanah on the end next to my Mom. The spots never changed over the years, unless we had guests to squeeze in somewhere. The other thing that never changed was the food. Susannah was an amazing cook. She had taught me to cook over the years. I had spent many hours by her side being her ‘little sous chef’ as she called me. This summer she told me she would show me her old college food recipe hacks.
I picked my head up from my plate when I heard Jeremiah’s voice, “So Y/n/n when do you leave for school? Do they have the swim team go early?”
I nodded, quickly swallowing my food so I could answer, “Yeah I have to go early, It's not too bad though only 2 weeks before the regular move-in date. I leave on August 5th.”
Susannah spoke next, “We’re so proud of you, our little fish.” Everyone chuckled at the nickname, ‘little fish’. Susannah had been calling me that for years.
“So what about you man when do you leave for training camp?” Steven asked Conrad, only he wasn’t the one who answered. Jeremiah did.
“He uh quit football.” Silenced stretched over the table. He what? I stared at him in disbelief, but in my heart, a part of me felt relieved for him. Being a student athlete isn’t easy and I knew Conrad only did football for his father. Sure he still loved the sport, but not enough.
“What you quit? Why man, I would’ve killed to play college ball?” Steven asked Conrad but again he didn't respond, his mother answered this time.
“He can always change his mind.” That made Conrad speak up, getting defensive towards his mother in a way I didn't usually see from him.
“I’m not gonna change my mind, I was just gonna sit on the bench all season anyway.” I sat quietly. I didn’t know what to say. Conrad and I bonded over our athleticism over the years, it felt weird to think we didn’t share that similarity anymore.
I hadn't realized I was staring at him until he looked back at me, our eyes locked and yet I still couldn't move. You'd think it'd be instinct to look away but as he came into focus, we just stared. I tried my best to read him to understand why he might do that, Why would he quit? I knew he didn't love it but he had gone this far with it, What made him change his mind?
There was something unreadable in his expression I didn't think it was regret or nostalgia or sadness or anger but instead some combination of all of it. I wondered why. He looked away first turning his attention to his plate as he picked at the food in front of him. I didn't push him on it, I wasn't sure I'd push him on it later either. I’m sure he had a reason, maybe it’d be best if I just let him tell me if he wanted.
The rest of dinner continued on like normal on the first night. Catching up, making jokes, and just being happy to be in each other's presence again. Everyone went their separate ways to get ready for the bonfire, and Belly and the moms stayed downstairs preparing for their movie night. Their tradition started a few years ago when Belly was 11, almost 12. That was the first year we went to a bonfire, Conrad and I were 14, and Jeremiah and Steven were 13. The bonfires were different then, we were with the younger crowd still unmixed from the older kids.  It was in the backyard of the house owned by a kid Jeremiah and Conrad knew from sailing camp. Belly was so upset she couldn't come with us. She was too young and we didn't want to have to watch out for her the whole night, or entertain her for that matter. I love my sister and she's gotten a lot better over the years but she loves attention, even though she won't admit it. Having her come meant that I would have to keep her by my side the whole night, that I couldn't mingle with new kids and make new friends. The moms promised to hang out with her that night. They went to the drugstore in town and bought a bunch of candy. Susannah made brownies and they watched a movie, a PG-13 movie which Belly thought was awesome at the time.
I didn't do too much to get ready for the bonfire, it wasn't anything new, but I still like to look a little bit nice. It was the first time I was seeing everybody for the season after all. My hair was down, air-dried from the shower I took earlier so it had a natural wave to it. A little concealer under my eyes, some mascara, tinted lip balm, and that was that. I put on a tank top and some jean shorts with my navy Cousins Beach sweatshirt on top. It tended to get a little bit chilly on the beach at night. I looked at myself in the mirror, my eyes catching on the shimmer coming from my ears. My pearl earrings, Susannah's pearl earrings. She gave them to me for my 16th birthday just like her mother did and I've treasured them every day since.
I had to shoo the thought away as I felt myself getting choked up. I exited my room and went down the stairs, slipping on my very worn-in black Converse by the door.  I heard stories of people in college having a designated pair of shoes they called their ‘frat shoes’. This pair of black Converse was that for me over the summer.  They had been covered in sand, soaked from water, and scuffed with dirt, more times than I could count.
As I finished tying my last lace, the boys walked down the stairs. I sat up, shoes now tied, and patted my knees, “You guys ready to go?”
“Yep let's do this we're taking my car. Y/N you promised to be DD for the night right? Don’t worry though I won’t drink too much anyway, wouldn't want to be hungover for my first day of duty, right Y/ N?” Jeremiah answered.
I laughed, “No Jere, you definitely shouldn't be hungover. Wouldn't look good for me either after I vouched for you to get this job. But yes I’ll be DD.” He laughed with me throwing his arm over my shoulder as we walked to the car. Steven called shotgun which left me and Conrad to sit together in the back. I hated to admit it to myself but he looked good. How someone could pull off a gray hoodie that well I didn't know, but he pulled off a gray hoodie and jeans better than I'd seen ever before.
The drive was silent in terms of conversation but in the front seat, Jeremiah and Steven were singing their hearts out to Steven's ‘pregame’ playlist off Spotify. I kept my gaze out the window. Partly because I was still taking in the beauty of Cousins, partly because I could look at him. He looked too good and I always had to distance myself from Conrad before parties. I never knew how they’d play out with him. Sometimes he’d just stick close to us, the crew, and have a super fun night hanging out. Usually, that’s what he did when I was at the party with the guys but I’d been told the stories of his playboy party actions when I wasn’t there, and last summer I had gotten a glimpse of it. A girl named Nicole had come up to him and started chatting with him. Within seconds she was quite touchy-feely. Her hand was on his chest or upper arm, even playing with his hair every once in a while. I had whispered into Jere’s ear who was between me and the horny fest, “Who’s that?”
Jere took a quick glance over his shoulder and then whispered back, “Nicole, she and Conrad hook up every once in a while.”
I furrowed my brows, “I’ve literally never seen her before.”
“They met at a party last summer when you had left for swim camp, I think her family like only comes out for August.”
I swallowed the information and then excused myself to get a drink. I stole a beer from the kid's fridge and walked back feeling a little bit better now that I had a drink in my hand. But when I looked up to find Nicole on her tiptoes kissing Conrad against the wall, the power of the drink in my hand ceased. I turned back to the kitchen, leaning against the counter by myself for a few minutes. I had my focus down on my hands when I suddenly looked up at the sound of the refrigerator doors flying open. It was her. She was seemingly grabbing a beer from the fridge the same way I had been just a second ago. I expected her to walk back out to Connie, but instead, she stationed herself on the counter, so I took that as my sign to walk back. It was the first, and only time since I had seen Conrad's fuck-boy behavior, but the stories continued, and I never let myself feel unprepared for the chance I might see it again.
Now sitting in the car with him I did just that as I watched the houses go by. The streets are littered with beautiful bloomed hydrangeas. Suddenly, my hair was pushed behind my ear. I turned my head as his hand draped its way down from my ear to the ends of my hair. His face was soft but I could see the dimples around his smile starting to crease. I shifted in my seat, nervous with his attention on me.
“W-what are you doing?” I spoke lowly. Not that it mattered, Jere and Steven had no chance of hearing over our screaming.
“You’re hiding.” It wasn’t a question, it was a statement. And it left me speechless. “Your hair is always so soft, you’d think after years of chlorine that wouldn’t be the case.”
That eased the tension a little, as the corner of my mouth turned up. “Well, that's because I wear one of those swim caps.”
He laughed, “I’d pay to have a picture of that.”
I laughed with him, “Don’t say that to my mom 'cause she’d easily take your money for an exchange.”
“Let's go!” Jeremiah shouted, exiting the car along with my brother. I hadn't realized we had stopped.
I looked over my shoulder to see Conrad hadn’t moved. His eyes looked at me like he was observing my soul. I held my breath. As if not breathing would help ease the bubbles floating around in my chest.
I couldn’t bear it.
With an awkward laugh, I scooted out of the car and jogged over to Jere and Steven. I didn’t want to walk down alone. I knew the boys wouldn’t stay by my side the whole night, they’d go do other things within the first hour, but I liked to hold onto them for as long as I could. I didn’t mind the girls I’d met with the guys here over the years, but we were never that close. Nicole, Dara, Gigi, Marisa, and Shayla, we’d all lose contact over the school year. I also knew some people who weren’t from that crew. Some of them I knew from the swim club I used to do at the Country Club when I was little under the Fisher’s name. I wasn’t exactly supposed to be in the club seeing as I wasn’t truly a member but Susannah had a way of getting people to do what she wanted. Kindness can be blinding. The club was mostly made up of little boys, there were only 3 of us girls, Sydney, Ally, and me. Sydney was a nice girl. She was super smart, and ambitous, she’s set to start at Princeton for business in the Fall. Ally, I remained better friends with as we grew up. She was a dedicated swimmer like me so we even ran into each other sometimes during the school year at competitions. Ally was a total sweetheart, but she liked to have fun. She was easy to hang out with, she understood. I hoped they were here, I had forgotten to text them when I got to Cousins.
The fire wasn’t too crazy, they had to be careful not to draw too much attention from the cops. A big crowd of people had already formed though and it was only 9:30. I grabbed a cola from the cooler as I said hello to everyone coming up to us. Chit-chat was made with numerous people, and I couldn’t help but feel these conversations were really competitions for these kids. It was like every comment had to be a one-up to the one previous.
It was around 10:30 when a hand plopped down on my shoulder abruptly.  I assumed it was one of the guys but then he came into my eyeline, Peter Millington.
“Yooo Y/N what's good?” He said a little slurred. As he moved to stand in front of me his hand dropped from my shoulder.
“Hey Peter,” I laughed. Peter was a good guy, he was flirty but it was harmless. Annoying, but harmless. I met him at the swim club when we were 10.
“So miss big shot where you heading this fall?  I’m sure schools across the country were practically begging outside your front door!”
I laughed, “I won’t deny that, but I’m actually not going far. I’m gonna be going to Harvard.” His mouth hung open.
“No shit.”
“Yes, shit. How about you, still swimming?”
He shook his head, “Nah nah, I’m trying to be a sports agent, I’ll be going to Penn State.”
“That’s great, congrats.” I smiled at him.
He pointed at me a big smirk spreading across his face, “Yeah so you better remember me when you go all famous.” He finished his statement by slightly hitting the side of my arm.
“You got it Pete, I won’t forget you-”
“Belly what the fuck!” My head snapped and my jaw dropped. I took off over to them. I sort of abandoned Pete but eh, he’ll be fine.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Steven yelled.
I smacked his shoulder once I had run up to them. “Stop yelling! You’re making a scene!” I whisper-shouted at him.
Then I turned my attention to my baby sister. My baby sister, who wasn’t supposed to be here. My baby sister, who was just talking to a man 5 years older than her. My baby sister, who chose to wear a tiny skin-tight pink mini dress. My clueless, trouble-causing, baby sister.
“What are you doing here?” I asked her as calmly as I could.
“What I can’t go to a party?” She bit back defensively.
Excuse me? She didn’t get to give me shit for being concerned when she's the one who showed up out of the blue. I scoffed, “Did I say that?”
“What are you even wearing Belly we are on the beach why would you-“
“Steven. Knock it off. Go hang out with Shayla.” This was getting too aggravating. Steven was instigating too much, he must have already pissed Belly off by the time I ran up and now I had to deal with it.
“Did Taylor tell you to wear that or something?” I asked Belly, trying my best to figure out what was going on without having to have an argument in the middle of a party.
“Why can’t I just dress nicely without being questioned?” Why the hell was she being so defensive?
 “Again did I say that?” I couldn’t hold back the bite to my tone.
She rolled her eyes before looking at me. But then her gaze sharply caught something over my shoulder. I turned to look. Jeremiah. Drunk off his ass. Standing next to the fire trying to strip and go skinny dipping. He had already stripped off his sweatshirt, shirt, shoes, and socks.
“Great.” I scoffed, running over to my now 2nd problem of the night.
When he saw me running over he smiled brightly, “Y/N! We are going swimming come on! OH MY GOSH Belly! You’re here! You come too!”
Belly laughed beside me and I would’ve thrown a dirty look her way if I had the energy to spare.
“No. No one is going swimming. It’s pitch black, the rip currents are crazy, and you are wasted. That’s all recipe for disaster.” I said authoritatively.
Jeremiah pouted. “Please?”
“No. Now put your clothes on.”
“Booooo.” Was he serious? He swayed as he re-dressed, his shirt blocking his vision. Good god.
“And get rid of the drink Jere, You’ve had enough.”
“Ughhh fine party pooper.” Before I could stop him he threw his drink into the fire.
“Jere-” The fire grew, a blaze lighting the beach. Shouts were heard as other drunk idiots followed Jeremiah’s lead and fueled the fire. “I can’t with this, Jere hang out with Belly.”
He smiled at that, “Alright come here belly button sit with me by the fire.” She giggled and obliged.
I took a deep breath, my feet taking me to the shoreline without even thinking. I needed to calm down. The chaos was overwhelming. I sat down on the sand a few feet away from where the water reached. The breeze flowed against me and I felt my mind begin to ease. This. This is why I always loved Cousins. I will never feel as at peace as I do when I’m next to the ocean. Water just calmed me down. I was the little fish.
I hoped that would never change. I hoped I would always be the little fish, no matter how big or how small the pond. No matter what happened down the line, the peace I felt by the water would never be disturbed. I’d always be, as Susannah so deemed me, a little fish.
I felt a plop next to me in the sand. I knew who it was without even looking, I could simply feel his energy. It was Conrad. He looked out on the water as he placed whatever drink he had in his hand down next to him. I kept my gaze out on the water as well. It felt good to just sit with somebody. With him.
“So you go around telling everybody you’re going to Harvard?” He said, slight humor in his tone.
I sighed, “I mean only when anyone asked.”
“No shouting from the rooftops?”
“No shouting from the rooftops. I’m not a big bragger.” I snickered, and so did he.
“You? Please! You have always been humble but you never shied away from sharing your accomplishments. You should be proud of yourself, it’s a big deal.” I just shrugged in response.
“I’m proud of you.” I looked at him then. His eyes were full of sincerity. I don’t think he knew how much that meant to hear. I caught his eyes flicking to my lips.
Wait what-
He was looking at my lips and when he looked back up his eyes shone with vulnerability. I couldn’t help myself when my eyes dipped down to look at his. I imagined what it’d be like to kiss him. His soft pillowy lips moving against my own. I wondered where he’d put his hands. He seemed like the type of guy to cup the back of your head. I’d feel the weight of his hand as he pulled me into him like he was desperate for our connection. Maybe one hand would fall to my hips or my thigh, acting like an anchor.
I couldn’t let my mind wander too far. Lord knows where that would lead. When our eyes met the tension was unmistakable. I couldn’t. I couldn’t let myself fall into him. I’d never stand back up.
“Stella? Alright, thanks man!”
Spell broken. Peter had just snatched Conrad’s beer from its spot between us and was taking a big slug of it.
“Pete what the hell?” I said, standing up from my seat on the sand.
“Dude give me my beer back.” Conrad stood up as well, Pete was standing between us.
“Whaaaat? You weren’t even drinking it man! It was just- you know just sitting there and all the- all the other Stella’s are gone.” He was plastered. I felt my chest sink. This isn’t gonna go well.
“I don’t give a fuck if there aren’t any left, that one is mine now give it back to me.” Conrad defended.
“Connie come on-”
“It’s just a beer man.” Pete turned to face primarily towards Conrad.
“Exactly, so give me my beer back and get yourself your own.”
“No.”
“Pete come on you definitely don’t need another drink.” I approached him, going to put my hand down on his shoulder to try and calm him down. Then just as I did he rolled back his elbow saying,
“Oh fuck off.”
I fell to the ground. His elbow collided right with my ear and the side of my face. Well, that hurt like a bitch. I’ll have a black eye on my first day back to work. Awesome.
“Y/N-“
I kept my eyes clenched shut for a minute before I felt a hand come to my shoulder, it was Belly and Jeremiah helping me up. My ears rang for a minutes before clearing. I watched as Steven and Jere broke up the fight.
Conrad looked at me as Steven pulled him back. I shook my head and looked away. Actually, I looked right at the flashing blue and red lights now coming from the top of the dunes. Cops, awesome.
“Enough!” I snapped everyone out of it, “Let’s go! Come on!”
I grabbed Belly’s hand as we ran up to the car, glancing over my shoulder quickly to make sure the boys were behind us.
“Jere keys!” I caught the keys as he tossed them to me, unlocking the car doors. “In! Now!”
I started the car, a scowl on my face. My head felt like it was vibrating but it wasn’t like any of them could drive with their intoxication level. I couldn’t believe them. How on earth did they think it was appropriate to act like this?  I kept my eyes on the road, but I was sure they could feel the anger radiating off of me.
“Y/N look I-“ Steven started but I cut him off.
“I don’t wanna hear it.”
Then Jeremiah came in, “We didn’t mean to-“
“I said I don’t wanna hear it! Unless you want me to hit a drunk teenager stumbling home, you’ll shut up and listen to me! I’m distracted enough by the pinging in my head.”
They were silent after that.
I was mad and I had plenty of reason to be. I had been in this position with my sibling plenty of times, a few with Jeremiah, but never Conrad. I knew he started fights occasionally, but never with me around.
I pulled into the driveway and parked the car. Then I child-locked in all those mother fuckers. I unblocked my seatbelt and positioned myself to be able to see them all. Steven and Jere struggled to open the doors while Belly sat in the middle confused. To my surprise Conrad just sat in his seat, his focus down in his lap, he made no objections. Once the three backseat idiots figured it out they looked to me expectantly.
I raised my brows, “What you thought just cause I didn’t want you distracting me while driving you were gonna be off the hook?”
“Y/N what do you even care? You’re not our mom.” Belly said, rolling her eyes.
She only fueled my anger, “Yeah no shit I’m not 'cause Mom wouldn’t have put up with even an ounce of the crap you guys pulled tonight. Do you think I like playing mommy? Do you think I wouldn’t have rathered to enjoy the first night of my summer stress-free? You are lucky I’m a good sister, 'cause I could so easily walk inside and tell Mom everything that went down tonight. Then maybe you’d realize that having you deal with me instead of mom, is me being nice.”  I watched my sibling's attitudes deflate. Jeremiah on the other hand was sitting there trying and failing to hide the smirk from his face. “What’s so funny Jeremiah? Do you think I’m not talking to you too right now? All of you put me in bad positions tonight because of how you acted. ”
Jeremiah chimed in again, “We weren’t that bad.”
My jaw dropped, “Not that bad? Let’s see who should I start with. How about you Jeremiah, I stopped you from getting naked in front of every teenager in cousins, potentially drowning and killing yourself, and even after I did that you acted like an idiot! Throwing alcohol into the fire, you’re probably the reason the cops came! Oh and just the cherry on top, the fact that you’re wasted after promising me you wouldn’t be.” He was quiet now.
“Steven had to cause a whole scene, but I’m not even that mad at him because he was right to be questioning you Bells! How the hell did you even get there?”
She peeked up sheepishly, “I walked.”
“You walked? Belly do the Moms even know you came to the bonfire?”
“No, I snuck out.”  She spoke in a quiet tone.
“Jesus Bells! If you had just told me you wanted to come I would’ve vouched for you. For god sake, I would’ve given you a ride!” My head pounded. I rubbed my forehead trying to ease the pain, I needed some advil. “You guys can’t act like that. It’s dangerous, and quite frankly embarrassing. I’m just- I’m done dealing with it.” I took a breath and unlocked the doors, “Go inside guys. Go to sleep.” I sat forward with my head in my hands. I heard the doors open and close as they got out without a word.
Except he didn’t. I didn’t look over at him. I honestly didn’t know what to say to him. I didn’t know how I felt at the moment.
“Are you ok? Is your head alright?” He had worry in his voice and I couldn’t help but feel a flutter in my heart.
“I have a headache and I’ll probably wake up to a huge bruise on my cheek but I’m fine.”
“How come you’re not mad at me too?”
“I didn’t say I wasn’t mad at you.” I felt his eyes on me the whole time but mine stayed forward at the house.
“You didn’t yell at me like everyone else.”
“Because I didn’t know what to say to you not because I’m not mad at you.”
A beat passed. Just us sitting in the car before he spoke up again, “I’m so sorry you got hurt, Pete was plastered-“
“You could’ve just let him have the beer.”
“Y/N I wasn’t going to-“
“Look it’s been a long night, just- just go to bed Con.” I grabbed the keys and left the car. I hadn’t looked at him once and I didn’t look back at him.  I couldn’t. I don’t even think I was truly mad at him, I mean it was Pete’s fault, not his. I was more overwhelmed with tonight’s events and I didn’t have the energy to unpack anything right now. My head was pounding and I needed to lay down. Work would be a nightmare tomorrow morning.
I went straight into the shower when I got inside. I gave myself a quick rinse. Susannah always stoked our bathroom with luxurious bath products for me and Belly. But I know Steven liked it too.
I walked into my room and plopped right down onto my bed. Man, it was soft, and it only seemed softer after a hard night.
I went to grab my phone when I saw it. A water bottle, advil, an ice pack, and a cookie, sitting on my bedside table, and I most certainly didn’t put it there. I knew who did. I knew it was him, and I could feel myself smile a little. I felt myself forgive him, he was hard to stay mad at. He wouldn’t mention it, I probably wouldn’t either, but we knew that we knew. That was enough.
For now.
Secrets Suck, Man
Sam Winchester x fem!reader
With Dean being heavily against the idea of dating while on the job, Sam and you figure out secret ways to be together without Dean knowing. Except, here’s the thing, he already knows.
Angst, fluff, cute stuff with Sam. Takes place during Season 12.
Third Person Pov
"Sam, how many times do I need to tell ya that it's a bad idea. Hunters don't get a normal life and if they did, they ain't hunters no more." Dean lectured Sam who sat in the passenger seat of their 1967 Chevrolet Impala.
"Dean, all I'm saying is maybe it's not a bad idea to be with a hunter. At least you both understand the life and the risks." Sam pleated with Dean trying to get him to see his point of view on the situation.
"Dude, you really want to watch the person you love die because you were busy saving someone else?" Dean asks seriously.
"No, I wouldn't want that even if I wasn't a hunter, Dean. But at some point, I think it's okay as long as both parties understand the risk." Sam spoke with coming off harsher than before.
"Drop it, you know my thoughts on it Sam. It's not a good idea." Dean jabbed back as he turned up the radio to some 80's rock song.
"Fine." Sam sighed in defeat knowing that his plan to try to tell Dean that he already had a girlfriend and that person happened to be you.
Two hours later...
Sam and Dean made their way into the bunker where you were. Sam saw you and gave you a quick, but loving smile. While you waited on them to return, you read the same lore books hoping to find something new in them only to be disappointed again. You smiled back at him making sure that Dean didn't notice you looking at Sam. Speaking of Dean he said a quick hello and sat down on the chair in front of you kicking his muddy boots up on the table.
"Hey, I'm glad your back and everything Dean, but take your shoes off the table please." You asked him rolling your eyes.
"Whatever, did you find anything in the lore about Nephilim" He questioned doing what you asked.
"Same as before, I still only know what I've read for the millionth time and Cas's knowledge." you sighed rubbing your hand around your sore neck. This caught Sam's attention and he made a mental note to himself to help you out later.
"Don't worry we'll figure it out, we've just got to keep looking." Sam reassured putting his hand on your shoulder and giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"Yeah, don't worry about it Y/n, we've delt with worse and won." Dean butted in.
"Yeah, I think the apocalypse and the darkness are a lot worse than this by far. I'd still rather deal with a nest of vamps than this though." You half joked.
"You and me both." Dean sighed getting up out of his seat and walking towards the hallway. "I'm gonna take a much-needed shower see you guys at dinner." Dean spoke walking away to the showers.
As soon as he was gone you rushed towards Sam and gave him a hug. Breathing him in and feeling his body against yours invited instant comfort and happiness to your stressed-out body and mind. And to Sam, he found the same comfort as his arms immediately wrapped around you as he placed his left check on the top of your head. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes allowing himself to be in the moment with you and forget all of the shit that is piled on them once again. He loved you and even having a little time alone was worth the world to him. After some time of just being there with him, your curiosity became too much and the elephant in the room needed to be addressed.
"Baby, what did Dean say?" You asked him raising your head while still holding Sam in your arms. He looked at you with a sad but loving gaze as you waited on his response.
"Same thing as before, he's against it." Sam sighed sadly. "But I don't care he can just deal with it. Secrets suck and I'm tired of keeping our feelings for one another away from Dean. I mean even Cass knows." Sam spoke trying to convince you.
"Yeah, I get that, I just really don't want an angry Dean top of the shit pile that we already have. I really want to tell him, don't get me wrong, I'm just scared to see how he'll react. Hell, I'd rather face Amara again than tell Dean, but I think it's important that we do." You pleaded with him trying to get him to see your point of view.
"Baby, if Dean gets mad that's on him. We are both adults and I think it'll be okay. I know your nervous, but trust me Dean at his core is a really big softie." He reassured rubbing your arms up and down.
"I still feel weird about it, but I think I'm just scared of his reaction, mostly." You whispered putting your forehead on the center of his chest.
"We don't need to tell him right now, we can wait as long as you need." Sam
“Thank you Sammy, that means a lot.” You say smiling at his sweetness.
Just as you two were about to break your hugs out comes Dean wearing his grey robe with an annoyed expression on his face. You were nervous and could tell that had whenever was wrong was serious.
“Dammit, If you two are gonna be together be fucking careful because this life ain’t pretty for us. I’ll support it if you guys do that. I guess some of us should have something good in this shit show.” Dean quickly said before a leaking away. As he did he did a double take. “And you two need to get better at whispering because I could hear everything.” He said annoyed as he walked away.
You both stood there dumbfounded at what just happened. You looked at each other and laughed at the situation. Sam then leaned down and captured your lips into a soft and sweet kiss. He broke the kiss giving you another big smile as he chuckled.
“Well I guess the secrets out.” Sam joked
“Yeah, and by what he said I guess he’s known for awhile now.” You say letting out a deep breath hugging Sam closer relieved that you don’t need to hide out of fear.
“Yeah, I’m just glad that with all of the shit that’s been happening that I still have you by my side. And no matter what I’ll be there for you.” He reassured
“Aww Sammy me too, I love you. And Dean’s right we should be careful about all of this.” You told Sammy nearly sounding like Dean.
“You’re right about that. And Deans right about another thing too. That it’s good that we’ve found happiness in this shit show.” Sam smiled.
“Yeah, we really did. I love you Sammy Winchester.” You proclaimed
“I love you too Y/n L/n.” Sam responded hugging you tighter.
"We both want a home win"
originally posted 12 July 2012 for Auto Bild Motorsport (x)
Tumblr media
Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg are the top drivers of the 2012 F1 season, but they have never won their home race at Hockenheim. AUTO BILD MOTORSPORT met them for a double interview.
AUTO BILD MOTORSPORT: Mr. Vettel, Mr. Rosberg, camping is a must at the German Grand Prix: when was the last time you went camping?
Nico Rosberg (27): That wasn't so long ago. I was on the road with some friends in the south of France, in a jeep. We pitched a tent in the middle of the wilderness - among wild boars. That was quite funny.
Sebastian Vettel (25): It was a while ago. At the race track back then, we camped a lot. In Monaco this year, my parents were on the road again with the camper van. I often visited them there in the evenings. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time for a barbecue because I had to go to bed. But one or two jokes were made at the regulars' table.
Mr Rosberg, have you ever camped with your parents?
Rosberg: Once with my father. We went to the mountains together, pitched the tent and had a barbecue.
Could you imagine the two of you going camping together one day?
Vettel: We get on quite well, but would it be enough to share a tent?
Rosberg: Sebastian once said in a survey that he thought I was quite good-looking. That's why I'd have to be careful. Together with him in a tent, that could get dicey … (Vettel feels caught and has to smile.)
When did you two meet for the first time in the first place?
Rosberg: I know. It was at the A1 Ring during a Formula BMW test. I didn't get on well at all that day and my engineer kept telling me: "Look, Vettel, he drives curve one like this, curve two like this, you have to do that too!"
Vettel: I'd already seen Nico go karting. I knew him, but he didn't know me. Everyone knew him back then - because of his last name.
Were there prejudices against Nico Rosberg? Along the lines of: Here comes the son of the world champion?
Vettel: Of course there were prejudices about his father at the beginning. But if Nico's performance hadn't been right, he wouldn't have made it this far. Today, the name no longer plays a role.
The other way around, Mr. Rosberg: Wouldn't you rather have had a "normal" father who didn't know how to drive corners…?
Rosberg: No. As a child, it was great to see my father racing. I saw him in the DTM, drove through the Motodrom on the roof of his car at his last race in Hockenheim. That's when my passion for this sport blossomed. My father always helped me a lot, gave me great tips in the beginning. I'm very grateful to him for that.
Mr. Vettel, Nico once told us about an encounter with you at a BMW Christmas party. Do you remember when a 15-year-old boy with braces asked 17-year-old Nico Rosberg about his first Formula 1 test?
Vettel: Yes. I wanted to know everything from him. We'd heard so much about Formula 1 driving. That after a few laps your neck muscles go limp and you do everything you can not to let anything show. It was the same with my first time. I stepped on the gas and got a shock. I got another one the first time I braked.
Rosberg: I can confirm that. For me, it was also pure madness. I could have driven faster, but my body didn't allow it. At some point in the fast third corner in Barcelona, I was pushed into the cockpit because I could no longer resist the incredible forces acting on me. I couldn't really see where I was going anymore. My head was hanging between my legs.
Is that how you described it to Seb?
Rosberg: I was probably showing off, playing it cool and saying, "It wasn't all that bad!"
Vettel: I remember trying to brake late. It pushed me forward so much that I could only see the seat belts.
Mr. Rosberg, were you ever jealous of Sebastian? You were the youngest driver ever to drive a Formula 1 in an official test drive. That makes you predestined to become the youngest race winner and youngest world champion. And then a boy from Heppenheim comes along and becomes everything you had planned. Didn't that give you the willies?
Rosberg: No, zero, never. I analyzed my situation very soberly, learned to be patient and was always convinced that my time would come. That means that at some point I, too, will have the car with which you can win. Sebastian had that a little earlier and also put in hammer performances. That's why he deserves everything. But I never compared myself with him. There was no envy at all.
Mr. Vettel, do you actually have a poster of Nico hanging in your room now? (Vettel looks puzzled.) Well, as a child you had posters of Michael Schumacher. And Nico has pretty much run circles around your childhood idol in the last two years.
Rosberg: An honest answer, please!
Vettel: I haven't had those posters for a long time. I grew up with Michael as a child. He wasn't just my hero, but the hero of almost all young German kart drivers.
How do you rate Nico's performance compared to Michael's?
Vettel: First of all, Michael or even Kimi, who hasn't been in Formula 1 for two years, haven't forgotten anything. In Michael's case, his package was certainly not the best in the first two years of his comeback. But the comparison with his teammate is fair. Nico drives around with the same box and is eight times faster on average out of ten practice sessions. You have to acknowledge that and you can't beat around the bush.
Mr. Vettel, can you understand why Nico turned down an offer from Ferrari last season?
Vettel (looks puzzled): I only ever heard that in passing. Nico, is that true? Honest answer!
Rosberg: What's with the speculation? Now I have a top car in the form of the Silver Arrow.
Vettel: Nico really has a competitive car this year. You can understand the confidence he has in Mercedes.
Who's right now? For you, Mr. Vettel, Ferrari is the team with the biggest myth. But for Nico, it's Mercedes…
Vettel: Both. If you go by Formula 1 history alone, Ferrari has been around the longest. Mercedes in a different way, though. They are the two brands in general. Driving a Silver Arrow and being on a par with legends like Juan-Manuel Fangio is appealing. But it's very similar at Ferrari, as I said. This year, you both have a winning car.
According to your own statements, friendships among Formula 1 drivers are not even possible. Nevertheless, you get along quite well.
Vettel: They're not impossible, but you have to look at it this way: If all 24 Formula 1 drivers lived in the same village, they'd run into each other more often and go out for a drink together more often. But the reality is that we live in all directions and in the paddock everyone stays close to their team. And, just imagine: Someone takes a cell phone picture of our pub crawl and the next day we hit the wall. Then the media would say for two weeks: They don't take their job seriously.
Rosberg: In addition, you deal with a teammate differently because the competitive pressure in your own team is extremely high.
Isn't the competition between you already great because you're both German?
Rosberg: That doesn't matter to me. Sebastian is just as much a competitor for me as anyone else.
You are not only German, but also Hessian.
Rosberg: Yes, that too. Although I speak better Hessian than Sebastian.
Vettel: I don't believe that. I recently had dinner with Timo (Glock). That was very funny, a trip back to the deepest Odenwald. The rest of Germany would have needed subtitles to understand us. (Vettel says something in deepest Hessian. It is absolutely not to understand).
Rosberg: I give up, I understood practically nothing. But my mother also taught me something in Hessian.
Vettel: Let's hear it!
Rosberg: Ey Sina, da kannst net neingehe, da fliege die Zäh, da glaubst, es dät schneie. (Sina, you can't go in there. Teeth fly so fast you'll think it's snowing!) It was about a fight at the disco.
Vettel: I got it. But, Nico, it's not really fluid yet. You can still work on it.
What makes you extremely different is the way you deal with your girlfriends. You, Mr. Rosberg, are open about it: Your girlfriend Vivian is often in the paddock and takes part in your professional life. It's different for you, Mr. Vettel. You hide your girlfriend Hanna as much as possible.
Vettel: Everyone does what they think is right. You can't say that's right or wrong!
Rosberg: Actually, I always want to keep that separate, too, but on the other hand it's also nice when my girlfriend is there.
Nevertheless, do you accept that, as a public figure, you sometimes have to live with people taking an interest in your private life?
Vettel: In a way, yes. We're both extremely lucky that we've been able to turn our great passion into a career. But that's exactly the point: It's also our job. We come to the race track in the morning, have to get our things done, and that goes on late into the evening. Who else brings their wife to the office? And the racetrack is our office in a way.
So who will win at Hockenheim?
Rosberg: Sebastian, have you ever won in Germany?
Vettel: No.
You've just poked a deep wound, Mr. Rosberg.
Vettel: It would be great for the fans and Germany if one of us could make it. But unfortunately it's not that easy - there are 22 others in the race.
Which of you two has the better chance of winning at Hockenheim?
Vettel: I hope I do…
Rosberg: Nah, I think I do. I've got the Mercedes engine in the back and Hockenheim has some long straights.
Vettel: Yes, that's true, unfortunately.
What we notice, Mr. Vettel, Mr. Rosberg: As nice and familiar you are with each other, you could easily drive in a team, couldn't you?
Rosberg: Yes, definitely.
Vettel: Then camping would also work out. In separate tents, of course.
ROUND 4 MATCH 12: C!WILBUR VS. STAN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
c!Wilbur Soot from the DSMP faces Stanley Pines from Gravity Falls. Who do you like more? obligatory @10piecechickenmcnugget tag because your man is RUNNING THE GAUNTLET
c!Wilbur Propaganda:
"Accurate depiction of mental health and spiral, handled delicately and deliberately, every piece of his story was thought and planned and in the end he went home to Utah. Thank you lord."
"Please don’t let the name dream smp effect how you feel about this submission, this character is completely unrelated to dream and I’m pretty sure the person who played him has nothing to do with dream anymore. This man single handedly got me through a horrible patch filled with extreme paranoia by also being extremely paranoid. Genuinely really helped me feel seen and I coped a lot by getting invested in this character. I almost cried when he died :("
"He’s so fucking stupid. I could infodump for hours this man transed my gender. Everything has gone wrong in his life. He’s the definition of a bisexual disaster."
"I didn’t fail 10th grade math bc I was thinking about c!wilbur for him to lose round one"
"I mean look at him!! his Minecraft skin is adorable!!!"
"if you people vote for cwilbur i'll draw him in a bikini."
"A VOTE FOR C!WILBUR IS A VOTE FOR GIRLBOYS EVERYWHERE"
"i should not have underestimated minecraft fans they came together"
Tumblr media
"Season 1 changed me. I didn’t know minecraft videos could have good acting, dramatic plots, etc. Wilbur was one of the best there. His plot was so interesting with the L’Manburg and the unfinished symphony arcs. He was funny, dramatic, sad… I fondly remember my dsmp days (though I only saw up to like part of Tommy’s exile)"
Stan Propaganda:
"from the same creature that submitted ford and was too tired for actual propaganda. they’re pretty cool huh"
"That propaganda is disgraceful but I'm also too tired to write up any big things for it"
"Hi that lack of propaganda for Stan Pines is offensive to me personally so here's some fun stuff:
He's punched zombies AND an all-powerful demon to death for the sake of protecting his family. He spent thirty years trying to turn on a portal to the Multiverse to get his twin brother back. He still thinks sacrificing his entire being is all that he's good for, and that makes my heart so sad. He loves his family and his family loves him. He's a silver fox. He also punched a pterodactyl in the face because he felt so bad about lying to his niece and getting her pet pig kidnapped that he had to fix his mistake (and yes, he did get the pig back). His nemesis was a ten-year-old child psychic whom he knew was a fraud because the kid didn't even realize his name wasn't actually Stanford.
Man of all time. Character of all time."
The tuna sandwich you made two weeks ago surprisingly became a favorite of Jungkook, which you didn't see coming, because he was a good cook (he truly did prove you wrong) and you were a shit one in comparison. To be fair, making a sandwich isn't totally cooking but you still season the tuna and that was cooking in your opinion but anyway, Jungkook loved it so much he kept on asking you for it whenever he came over.
Never had anyone validated your cooking before, only Jungkook, and you couldn't lie and say it didn't boost your ego whenever he ate it almost rather enthusiastically, and then kissed you sweetly (albeit smelling like tuna) and saying thank you with that adorable smile of his.
So today, you may have accidentally made five tuna sandwiches and bought way too much Chinese food that is anything but for individual consumption. Because today, you may be going to the gym to get lunch with Jungkook on his break.
[12:30pm] You: It's your lunch break, right? Are you still practicing?
[12:32pm] Kook🐰: hi baby we finished just now it'slunch break i go to class at 2pm
[12:32pm] Kook🐰: have u eaten should we get lunch together
[12:35pm] Kook🐰: i got starbucks coupon yesterdat👺
[12:35pm] Kook🐰: yesteeday
[12:35pm] Kook🐰: yesterday
[12:35pm] You: I'm coming to the gym
Turning off your phone after that brief exchange, you tiptoed a little to spot the gym.
It was almost crazy to think that once upon a time you've never stepped a foot in there, but nowadays it has become almost like a routine, no thanks to constantly hanging out with Jungkook. And it wasn't just you going to his "thing", either, it was also him fetching you from the publication office or bringing you food there.
It's a rather big shift from keeping your relationship a secret to everyone else from… effortlessly flaunting it to everybody. But no, you wouldn't really call it flaunting. Flaunting meant you have every intention to make everyone know, but that wasn't the case for you both. Not at all. It was more of like: "They see us, then they see us. Who cares?" and personally it was hard to not care the first few weeks, especially when you would hear your name from the girls' gossips in the women's comfort room. But the talks died down eventually and finally, no one cares now about the girl Jungkook's hanging out with.
Anyhow, it was nice to not… hide anymore. Or pretend that you didn't know each other in the hallways. Jungkook liked it as much. You think.
As you reach the gym, you see Taehyung near the entrance door. It looks like he just changed out of his jersey, his fringes wet.
"Hi," you greet, waving at him.
"Oh, __, hey," Taehyung looks up from his phone to look at you then grins. "Jungkook's inside." He says, gesturing with his thumb. His eyes train to the lunch bag in your hand and the familiar plastic bag of a Chinese restaurant across the street. Wiggling his eyebrows, he teases, "Is that for him? Sweet."
You immediately roll your eyes at that. "Shut up, Tae."
Additionally, one of the big shifts in your life the past few months was finding a close friend in Jungkook's friends. Taehyung and you have been getting closer these days, enough for you to comfortably exchange sarcastic remarks about each other. Turns out, he was an extremely fun guy to be around and get this, he knows Letterboxd. How cool is that! (Though he still really holds that time you didn't show up at your coffee hang against you. He brings it up every single time and you'd have to treat him to a cafe some weeks.)
Taehyung laughs and brings his hands up, jokingly surrendering. "Kidding, kidding. He's waiting for you inside. Gotta go, though. 1pm class."
You nod. "See you around, Tae."
You thought he was gonna go scram but he looked at you one last time and said, "Don't do anything funny in there."
Heat goes through your body, settling to your cheeks. Taehyung really gets on your nerves, it makes so much sense that he was close friends with Jungkook.
"Shut up, I hate you and Hyerin deserves so much better." You say spitefully, referring to the woman he's been going on dates with recently, rolling your eyes once again as Taehyung just laughed his ass off, walking further away.
Ugh. You really wish he didn't walk in on you and Jungkook three days ago. To be fair, Jungkook forgot to lock his room (again!) when you were fooling around and Taehyung was a neanderthal who didn't know how to knock. So cue Taehyung joking about it whenever the opportunity came.
"Hey!"
You turn around to see Jungkook jogging towards you, still in his jersey with a towel hanging around his neck. Some of his team mates are also hanging around the benches. As if just having noticed you as well, they wave at you and say a chorus of "Hi"s and "What's up, __"s which you returned with a smile and a greeting back.
Jungkook greets you personally with a wet kiss on the lips.
"Hi, pretty."
"Hey, you," You greet back, swiping his bangs off his forehead. You quickly retreat. "You're so sweaty. Wipe your forehead."
Jungkook does it so. "Done." he looks down at the things you've got in your hand. "You brought me lunch?" He says, a grin plastered all over his face.
You hold your arms up with the bags. "Yeah. Chinese and tuna sandwiches. I thought we could eat here or something."
His grin only spreads wider at your words, and you can only mirror his smile. He was so smily today.
"You mean your tuna sandwiches? Fuck, I could kiss you right now. Thank you." He says enthusiastically, wrapping his arm around your waist and leading you to the bleachers.
You followed him and you settled on your usual spot where you've eaten one of your lunches before. It was quite far away from the area where the other guys were seated.
"It's nothing. I made a lot this morning because my classes got canceled." You say, unzipping the lunch bag with the sandwiches in it. You give him one and open another yourself, taking out the pack of mayo to put it in between the bread.
"Hm, fuck, these are so good. Seriously. You should start a food business." Jungkook comments, munching on the sandwich.
You chuckle. "No, what the hell. I need to have a variety in the menu if I start something. I just can't sell sandwiches."
Jungkook shrug. "Eh, it could be like a special thing. __ Sandwich Exclusive Cafe. Something like that. Or just post these online, I'll go tell my friends about it and you'll get rich in a week. I have a celebrity friend."
Your laughter becomes louder, shoulders moving up and down.
"You sound like a crypto scammer that way. You should've started with, "Are you open-minded?" and that would've sold me."
Jungkook snorts at that, grabbing another sandwich from the bag. You take a dumpling from the take-out and extended it to his mouth, which he opens to take the food you offered him.
"If dad cuts me off completely I'll be one of those crypto dudes on Twitter, so you're not totally wrong."
You both laugh at that, with you pushing him slightly on his bicep.
"Well, I'll help you scam people, then. I'll be the one commenting on your tweets and vouching for your legitimacy."
Jungkook nods, pretending like he was thinking about it. "Hm. Or I can start an OnlyFans if it fails so that I can still give you your boba everyday."
You can't help but giggle.
"You know I always appreciate your sacrifice. Maybe we can start a Pornhub channel if I couldn't get admitted to law school."
Jungkook lets out a "tsk!". "Don't say that. With the way you study, you'll be overqualified." It was his turn to give you a dumpling then, which you ate just as quickly as he offered it. Jungkook smiles as he watches you chew on it. "But if it counts, I won't be opposed to us starting a Pornhub channel."
You search through the Chinese take out bags again to find your fried rice. As you did so, you opened it, not forgetting to reply to Jungkook and looking at him as you say, "Well, I'll have to practice my porn moan for that."
And just as soon as you said that you knew he already had something dirty to utter, and he doesn't fail you.
"Maybe we can practice tonight…" He said, voice intentionally going octave deeper.
You chuckle at his predictability.
"I knew you were gonna say that."
Before he could deny how predictable he was or brag about how quick-witted he was, you heard a bunch of footsteps on the court.
"Hey, Jeon! We're going!" Says one guy, looking at you both.
Jungkook turns to look at them and shouts back, "Yeah, see you around, Mingyu!"
"__!" They call you.
When you looked at them, they nodded, ready to leave, announcing their departure so you wave at them goodbye.
When they were out of sight, you asked Jungkook, "Hey, what's that about your Starbucks coupon?"
As if remembering something, Jungkook's eyes widened a little as he takes his phone from his pocket. "Oh, yeah I got one yesterday. Here." He looked inside his phone case and took out a card.
You leaned down to study it curiously, reading the benefits of the card holder getting a $50 token.
"Ohh, that's amazing! How'd you get this? I want one too."
Jungkook let you take the card and looked at it with you. "I don't really know, the barista just gave me this after I got some latte."
Oh. Hm. Interesting. You bet it was a woman barista.
"Hmm."
Jungkook shrugs. "It's probably because I gave her the exact amount of the payment in cash. I don't know."
Her. Exactly. She was probably the same barista who always looked at Jungkook funny whenever you two came there. She had an obvious crush and you couldn't really blame her. But it was funny, that Jungkook thought it was because he gave the exact amount of payment in cash the barista decided to give him a gift card. You would think his lowkey fuckboy ways would tell him that a woman likes him, but he was so clueless sometimes. If you were honest to yourself, you'd admit it was cute.
"You can be so clueless at times, Kook." You say, patting his shoulder.
"Huh?" He looks at you with that wide eyes of his, and boy, he really doesn't suspect a thing.
You shake your head. "Nothing."
You pat his head and Jungkook squints his eyes at you. You laugh at the little exchange and Jungkook's hand extends up to hold yours up his face and you tried to pull back, giggling, thinking he was gonna do something gross like bite your hand but he only presses his mouth to your palm, holding it against his face.
You smile. Soft and gentle.
"Dinner later at my place?" Jungkook says.
You nod.
It was hard to deny someone who makes your heart go all weird when he looked at you like that.
"Sure."
The Sign Ep 12 (Finale) Stray Thoughts
It's been too long, so I barely remember where we are. We left at Tharn somehow maybe saving Phaya and getting stuck in a cave to maybe say goodbye because Chalothorn threatened him or whatever. Chart got caught for being undercover. The rest of the gang was lost in the woods. Anyway, let's finish this.
Wait, how are they successfully tracking anyone? I thought there was no phone service.
Oh lord don't start death flagging with promises about rings.
Damn, I feel bad for Chart. That final kick delivery was actually pretty good.
Bestie said they didn't need rope to get them out of the hole. The power of the Warrior's Bond and Yai's arms was enough.
I watch too much American action. The bullet stuff is giving recent Fast films.
Well, there goes Khem.
Why would they let Tharn run after them alone? He literally loses every fight.
Mhmm, see, Chalothorn had to intervene.
Montree still being afraid of Tharn came across clearly.
Damn, y'all ain't even shower before going back home?
Here we go. One last look at Babe's waistline before it ends.
Oof, the only thing Tharn responded to was an admission of his love.
Finally, 🍑
Oh, I liked that shot of the water leaking through the bed to show that Tharn was gone.
I feel like the grandma has always known more than she let on.
Did we really repeat the exact same death scenario? Chalothorn, you really suck at this. The circle remains unbroken.
I know Phaya's doctors have got to be frustrated that he keeps drowning.
Is Dao in France to cut down on filming schedule conflicts?
I love when dramas show the passage of time with facial hair.
So... Chalothorn just...got over it off screen?
Oh, a second season tag and Saint cameo. I guess?
Final Verdict: 5.5, Great Gowns, Beautiful Gowns. Overall, I just don't think the elements of this show ever really came together. I think the first two episodes of training and mythology teasers, along with the Lieutenant Tam mystery, made me expect these elements to circle and eventually converge in a more cohesive way. I also feel like some of the side stuff didn't really work. I thought some of the mythology about the Naga and Garuda was really interesting, but I didn't exactly feel the cycle they were stuck in playing out in this drama. I'm also hugely annoyed about the core angst evaporating off screen. So, in the end, I'll mostly remember it as copaganda.
That being said, I thought the cast chemistry was solid, and I really liked the execution and use of the CGI. I like that IdolFactory keeps trying more things, but I do think we need to get stronger script writers and editors in the room with a stronger say on the planning front.
pov: matt
I don't know why I ditched school with Layla. I never really left school unless I was sick or when Chris and Nick needed a ride home. I knew that I would be fine if I skipped a couple classes, my grades were good enough for me to miss a full month and I would still pass but I tried to stay above average.
As I drove us back to school, my mind wandered to when she put her earring on my lip. It made me realise how gentle she was, the way she grabbed my chin to turn my head and pulled my lip down to delicately place the ring on my lip made my mind fuzzy. She always seemed like she was tough and rough around the edges. The way she carried herself around school as if she didn't care about anyone or anything was a deep contrast to who she was in that moment of softness. I let my mind travel away as I parked in my usual spot at school, sliding my seatbelt off before I turned the car off.
I turned to face her, seeing her pick her bag up from the ground and going to open the door before I interrupted her movements, "Hey."
She turned to face me, letting go of the door handle as she looked at me expectantly, "What?"
"Do you wanna sit with me at lunch? I know you don't really go to the cafeteria but it's better than wandering around the school alone," I offered, praying in my head that she would agree.
"I don't think your friends will want me there," she mumbled, not making eye contact with me as she looked out at the school.
"Doesn't matter what they want. I want you to sit with us," I smiled at her, hoping it would convince her further. I knew my friends would be confused but I hoped I could convince them by showing them she was just like everyone else in the school and she wasn't some monster our peers had made her out to be.
"I don't know..." she trailed off, biting her lip which I picked up was a nervous habit. She had done it so many times in the short amount of time that I had been talking to her and I tried to not make it obvious that I was staring at her lips, coughing before sitting upright.
"Come on, it will be fine," I smiled once again before I jumped out of the car. I made sure my phone was in my pocket as I hopped out of the car, grabbed my backpack from the backseat and waited for her to close her door before I locked it.
We started walking into the school as she trailed behind me. She was mindlessly following me as she looked at her phone. I swung the door open, stepping aside to let her walk in before me. She sent me a half-hearted smile as a thank you making my chest swell with warmth.
I liked seeing her smile and knowing that I'd only seen her smile when she was around me made me proud in a way. I couldn't explain why but I felt myself pull towards her every time I saw her in the hallway. It had taken me a while to figure out if it was a good idea or not to talk to her, but I'd now decided that I was going to keep talking to her until she was sick of me.
I made my way to the cafeteria, noting that the clock on the wall read that lunch had already been happening for about 5 minutes. Her walking slowed and I turned to face her, slowing my pace to match hers.
"You don't have to stay for the whole lunch. Just come say hi to everyone at least," I offered her another smile and she chewed at her lip making me glance at them again, "Please."
"No need to grovel, pretty boy. I'll go," she rolled her eyes, her hard demeanour returning now that we were on school grounds. I smiled wider at the nickname she had given me and I was glad to know it stuck. After putting my backpack in my locker, we walked towards the cafeteria again.
We walked through the doors to the large cafeteria, eyes turning to look at the both of us. I ignored them as I walked through the tables, making a B-line to where my friends sat as Layla travelled behind me.
"Hey," I nodded to my brothers, sitting down beside Nick as they glanced over my shoulder at Layla making me turn towards her. I patted the seat beside me, letting her know she could sit down. She slowly sat down next to me and I could feel how tense she was by her body language, "Nick, Chris, Nate, Allie, this is Layla."
"Hi," Layla mumbled from beside me and I hoped that my friends could pull themselves together and at least pretend to be nice until they got to know her properly.
"Hey," Allie smiled at her politely as Nick and Nate both gave her a small wave. Chris nodded at her, his face showing his distaste for her being here making me run my tongue along my teeth. Chris looked at me and I made a face to tell him to be nice.
"What the fuck is on your lip?" Nick asked and I rang my tongue over the ring that was on my lip.
"It's fake. Just trying it out," I shrugged and Nick looked at me in confusion but I brushed it off.
"You getting any food?" Nate asked me and I shook my head as I watched him snack on the small tray of food he had in front of him.
"What are you doing here?" I heard a familiar voice speak and I looked to my right to see Mia staring down at Layla with confusion.
"Mia," I deadpanned and she glanced at me with a shrug of her shoulders, her cheerleading uniform riding up slightly as she did so.
"I'm just asking. She never even comes into the cafeteria and now she's sitting where I always sit," she stated in a bitchy tone making me frown at her.
"You can manage not sitting next to me for one day, Mia," I told her and she pursed her lips, a frown covering her face as she sat herself in between Layla and Allie.
"So why are you sitting here?" Mia asked Layla, her tone still bitchy as ever making me roll my eyes.
"Matt asked me to sit with you guys," Layla answered honestly, her tone not wavering in the slightest.
"Why?" Mia retorted as she opened the protein bar I didn't even notice she had.
"Because I wanted her to," I responded to Mia, my tone sharp to try and get her to stop. She was my biggest worry when I offered Layla to sit with us but I didn't realise she'd be so dramatic about it.
"Why didn't you get any food, Matty?" Mia asked me, now leaning over the table a little and completely ignoring Layla.
"I just ate," I answered honestly and I felt Layla's shoulder brush mine as she wriggled in her seat to get further away from Mia.
"What?" Nick asked now and I turned my head to face him.
I shrugged before replying, "We got McDonald's."
"And you didn't get anything for me?" Allie gasped dramatically making me smile at her as I shook my head.
"You skipped? For McDonald's with her?" my attention was brought back to Mia's bitter tone as she made a face of slight disgust.
"No I skipped because I wanted McDonald's and I asked her to come with me," I kept my tone flat to give her the hint that I was not impressed but she didn't seem to catch it.
"Why didn't you ask me?" Mia pouted and I shrugged, playing with the rings on my fingers.
"You were already in class," I told her and she rolled her eyes before I continued, "Besides, you never skip."
"What class do you have after this?" Allie asked Layla and I was thankful she diverted the conversation politely.
"Art and gym," Layla answered honestly and Allie's smile widened.
"You're in my gym class, right? Mr Rodes?" Allie asked and Layla nodded in response, "You should group up with me in class!"
"Uh, okay," Layla answered, confusion in her tone. I figured it was because she expected Allie to be a bitch, her cheerleading uniform and perfect red hair giving everyone the impression she was like Mia. Allie was one of the nicest people in school, she was down to talk to anybody and it's one of the reasons I was excited for Layla to sit with us.
"You always pair with me," Mia mumbled to Allie as she flipped her brown hair over her shoulder and Allie shrugged in response.
"You can go with Melissa? She always wants to go with you," Allie gave her a solution before digging back into her salad. Mia seemed more irritated than before and I hoped she would save it till Layla wasn't sitting with us. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
"She's here for like two seconds and fucks everything up," Mia mumbled under her breath as she bit into her protein bar.
"If you're gonna shit talk me while I'm sitting right next to you at least say it with your chest, Mia," Layla deadpanned to Mia and she seemed taken aback as she just stared at the bleached blonde girl sitting next to me.
"You're gonna let her talk to me like that?" Mia asked as she glanced at me and I raised my eyebrows.
"He's not your father. You can stand up for yourself," Layla spoke clearly and I pursed my lips, resisting the urge to smile as Mia looked in shock. Almost no one pushed back with Mia, we all knew she would blow up and just make things worse than they needed to be. But I enjoyed seeing Layla stand up to her, it proved to me that she wasn't scared of anyone, she just didn't care to talk to them.
"This is bullshit," Mia huffed as she crossed her arms and Layla raised her eyebrows in response. I looked over at Chris who was hiding his smile behind his sandwich and Nick who coughed in order to cover his laugh.
"Right well, I'm gonna go. I'll see you in gym Allie," Layla picked up her bag and stepped over the bench as she adjusted her hoodie. I realised she left her leather jacket in my car but decided I wouldn't tell her yet so I had an excuse to see her later.
"Where are you going?" I asked as she turned back to face me. Instead of speaking, she made a motion with her hand like she was smoking an imaginary cigarette as she walked backwards slowly with her eyebrows raised. I smiled at her while shaking my head and I watched as she spun around, walking out of the doors of the cafeteria.
"What was that about?" Nick asked as I turned around to face the group who were now looking at me expectantly.
"What?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing as I ran my tongue over the ring on my lip, pursing my lips to hide my smile.
"You said you weren't gonna talk to her anymore," Chris deadpanned and I shrugged, grabbing Nick's water and taking a sip before he ripped it out of my hands.
"I changed my mind," I lied, knowing I never actually intended to stop talking to her in the first place.
"She's bad news. You shouldn't be hanging around her unless you wanna end up being a junkie," Mia mumbled and all joy from my face dropped as I turned to look at her with a glare.
"Mia, can you shut up for once?" I spat and she frowned, her mouth hanging open and Nate raised his eyebrows, his mouth in a downturned smile of surprise before he and Allie looked at each other briefly.
"You hang out with her for one day and you're already a dick. You just proved my point," Mia looked at me with a cocky smile and I rolled my eyes.
"You guys are so fucking annoying," I sighed, running a hand over my face as my mind flashed the moment she grabbed my lip to put the ring in my lip, "The only reason she was rude to you is because you were being a bitch about her sitting here and then not pairing up with Allie in gym. It's not that big of a deal."
"I mean... I've heard a lot of shit about her man," Nate piped up as he raised his eyebrows at me and I shook my head.
"Who cares? She's not this psycho everyone pretends she is," I defended her and Nate just shrugged, on the fence on whether or not he thought it was a good idea for me to be talking to her, "You guys just have to give her a chance."
"I don't have to do anything," Mia mumbled, her irritated tone making me grind my teeth together to keep my cool.
"If you wanna continue being my friend, Mia, you're gonna have to figure out why you're such a bitch to her," I huffed and Allie's eyes widened and before I could say anything further, the bell for our next class rang through my ears. I got up from the table without another word and made my way to my locker, playing with the ring on my lip that was quickly becoming a habit.
+++
My last two classes were spent trying to focus but instead, my brain wandered to Layla, hoping that Mia didn't scare her away from me. I leaned against the driver's side of my car, Nick and Chris talking about something as they walked over to me.
"Why aren't you in the car?" Chris asked, noting the fact that I usually waited for them in the driver's seat.
"Layla left her jacket. Gotta give it back to her," I told him honestly and he rolled his eyes as he jumped into the passenger seat. I was sure he was sick of me talking about her, I'd been building up the courage to talk to her for weeks and I constantly talked Chris's ear off about it. He always told me it was a bad idea and I, of course, never listened.
Nick slid in the back seat, shutting the door behind him and I felt the window behind me roll down. I turned around to see Chris holding her leather jacket out to me through the window and I gave him a small smile with a nod. He raised his eyebrows briefly as I took the jacket from him and he started rolling the window up.
"Just don't take forever. We gotta get our shit for training," Chris called out before the window was full rolled up. I turned back around as I hung the jacket over my left arm, pulling my phone out of my pocket to quickly check the time.
"I believe you have something of mine," Layla's voice rang through my ears and my head snapped up to see her standing in front of me, an amused look on her face. I stared at her for a moment, noticing that she was wearing her shorts from gym still and I could see a few more of her tattoos on her thighs before she spoke again, "You gonna give it to me or am I fighting you for it?"
"Oh right. My bad," I shook my head as I slipped my phone back into my pocket and handed her the jacket. I slid the ring off of my lip, wiping it with the hem of my shirt and I couldn't help but notice her eyes glance at the tattoos along my waist.
"Gonna miss that super cool lip ring," she said sarcastically as I chuckled, handing her the ring as her fingers brushed against mine. Her skin felt so much more soft than mine, it raised goosebumps along my arms.
"Give me another month and you won't have to miss it anymore," I smirked at her and I noticed her eyes lit up slightly as a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.
"You're gonna get it?" she asked, her voice full of hope as she slid her bag off of her shoulder and slipped her jacket on before grabbing her bag again.
I shrugged, leaning back against the car again, "Probably. Under one condition."
"What?" she asked sceptically, her eyes squinting at me and I smiled.
"Come to my last three games this season," I stated and she tilted her head as she looked out into the parking lot in thought.
"I won't have a way to get there," she retorted and with a raise of my eyebrows, I pointed to the car behind me before pointing to myself, "I don't know what to wear to your games."
With a shrug, I said, "Just wear whatever you're comfortable in."
"What day are your games on?" she asked sceptically before she bit her lip and I tore my eyes away from her mouth and back up to her eyes.
"Fridays at five," I told her and she sighed, shaking her head.
"I don't know..." she trailed off and I bit my lip to hide my smile.
I sighed dramatically as I pushed off of the car, "Guess I won't be getting my lip pierced any time soon."
"Oh for fucks sake. Fine," she huffed and I smiled at her, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I'll have to pick you up around four because we need to be there early to warm up but you can wait in the car if you don't wanna come inside," I explained and she nodded, goosebumps covering the skin on her legs from the cold air, "You need a ride home?"
"We don't have time for that. Hurry the fuck up!" Chris called from inside the car and I held up a middle finger behind me to flip him off.
"Nah, I'll be good," she gave me a half smile and I nodded as she started to walk backwards, "I'll see you when I'm looking at you."
With that she spun around and started walking out of the car park, leaving me with a triumphant smile on my face. I hopped in the car to see Nick and Chris staring at me with a judgemental look on their face.
"What?" I asked with a smile but they both stayed silent as I started the car, driving back to our house to grab mine and Chris's gear for training.
One thing Valeria Sainz did not expect when she signed as a Mercedes reserve driver, was to walk into the Mercedes Australia garage for a meeting with Susie and Toto at fucking one in the morning.
One in the morning?
Valeria and her parents had just gotten into Australia. Dead from the long flight during the practice days and in dire need of rest. Despite needing to check into the hotel and get some actual sleep, Toto continuously pressed that this matter had to be discussed 'in person, immediately.' So, Valeria sent a suitcase with her father and kept her carry on with her as she called for a rideshare.
At 12:56am, Valeria arrived to the Australian GP's circuit with a Monster Energy tucked under one arm. Fighting back several yawns as she fishes out her lanyard and scans into the gate. Rubbing sleep from her eyes and sleepily stumbling her way down the pavement to where she knows she's supposed to be. Luckily, it doesn't take long for her to find her boss, plus Susie, both looking equally as frazzled as they stand on opposite sides of the only light source pouring out of the Mercedes garage.
Valeria chugs the rest of her Monster, tosses the can, and approaches with a tiny huff.
"You both look miserable." She chimes once she's within earshot, causing Susie to jump out of her skin--which in turn makes Toto chuckle.
"Sorry, it's been a long night." Toto runs one hand through his hair, shirt partially undone and sleeves rolled up as normal. Susie's in fucking pajamas. An old Mercedes shirt that's definitely Toto's over some leggings, and if Valeria looks hard enough she thinks she can see Jack napping on a couch with headphones on.
"Yeah, I can see... uh, why was I... needed? So early?" Valeria looks over at the engineers finishing packing up what's left of George's car. It had been completely knocked out last lap of practice, left laying on its side until Stroll whipped around the corner a bit too quickly and clipped the side, sending himself and Mr. Saturday into a nearby wall.
Double knockout. Drugovich on standby for Lance. No one yet on standby for George.
"Come, sit." Susie waves her over to where she crosses the room to snag her husband's desk as a chair while he falls into his office chair. Jack stirs, sitting up to see Valeria and he smiles and mumbles a mix of sleepy German and English to his past babysitter. She wastes no time scooping up the Wolff child and settling him in her arms like she had when he was still tiny, and she was a teenager. Carefully, Varelia sits across from the Wolffs as Jack drifts back to sleep in the comfort of her arms, tucked tight against one of Carlos' old Red Bull hoodies she'd stolen years back. A staple in her closet now.
"George is out... for a while." Toto makes a vague gesture, "At least two months. They're suspecting a spinal injury. If so, he's out for the season."
"Ah, dios mio, it looked horrible on the little plane screens. I didn't imagine this bad." Valeria rubs Jack's back, giving her shaky hands something to do. Toto just nods and leans on his desk, Susie's hand resting on his forearm softly as she turns back to fully face Valeria.
"He's alright. Carmen's flying in to be with him and his team while his family prepares for him to be sent home." Susie looks at Valeria, watching the girl with a keen eye the Spaniard in front of her has picked up on over the years.
"No." Valeria whispers, an edge of surprise, "But what about Schumacher? And Vesti?"
"I can pull you fully out of F1 Academy easier than getting those two for long term, plus, we need to keep them as reserve for Lewis. They're more used to his car than Georges." Susie hums and Toto nods, rolling his neck out and looking up at Valeria.
"You have been driving for Mercedes since we could have you on our program. There is no one I'd want more for a long-term contract than you, Valeria." A tiny smile graces Toto's distressed expression for half a second as he says, "You've babysat Jack all these years, you're like family. Plus... I trust your capability to be thrown in with little warning."
"Quali's tomorrow. We need you here at... we'll say ten because you need sleep. Sharp, Sainz." Toto snaps for the extra effect and Valeria nods. The night is still when Mercedes packs up, Susie bringing Valeria back to the hotel alongside Jack while Toto goes off to the hospital. It's too early to wake her family, so Valeria jumps around in excitement in the bathroom before getting herself ready for bed.
Her Formula One debut tomorrow. And only her and the Wolff's know.
Tumblr media
Valeria doesn't sleep.
Well, she does. But it's terrible sleep. And Carlos moving in the attached en suite wakes her up fully only a few hours after shes gotten home. It’s barely sunlight, but she can’t help but get out of bed and stumble to the kitchen.
“[Why are you awake, Valita?]” Carlos asks his sister in Spanish, one arm lifting so the baby of the family can tuck herself comfortably against his broad chest.
“[Slept terribly. I’m racing.]”
“Qué?” Carlos pauses mid coffee making to look down at his sister, her mused hair and tired expression. The girl who was seven years his inferior, who had taken after him in every aspect of his life.
She was racing?
“Today, ahora. This weekend. I’m racing for George.”
"What?" He blink again, still struggling to process. Laughing to herself, Valeria unsticks from her brothers side and puts her hands on her hips as she blinks up at him.
"[Are you deaf?] Hello?" She waves a hand in front of his face and he swats it away, electing to go back to pouring some creamer in his coffee as he still stumbles through his words.
After a beat, he asks, "[This weekend?] In Australia?"
"No Carlos, [this weekend in Singapore.]" Valeria deadpans, bumping him off to the side so she can make her own coffee as she mutters, "Ponerse las pilas, Carlitos."
"Ay, tia," He pokes her side as he leans across her to grab his phone off the counter, "You don't get to Carlitos me, I get to Valita you."
"Yeah yeah," Valeria whacks her brothers arm, shooing him out of her space as she pours some coffee in a cup, "but, hello, me racing?"
Carlos hums, sitting at one of the barstools nearby, sipping his coffee before he says, "[How long is George out for?]"
"They're not sure... [I think Toto said at least two months.]" Valeria grabs the coffee creamers from the little coffee maker area, pouring a good few in along with some sugar.
"[Good lord,]" Carlos hums, setting his cup down, "through Monaco?"
"Most likely. He could be out for the whole season, but I don't know how bad his injury is." Valeria huffs, sitting down next to her brother who smiles and pulls his sister to his side.
"Congratulations, Valita. [If I was a bit more awake I'd look more excited.]" He chuckles and Valeria laughs, resting her head on his shoulder and yawning.
"Me too."
Tumblr media
The paddock is absolutely buzzing as the Sainz family, right now just both Carlos' and Valeria, walk through the warm sun. Carlos keeps his children in front of him through the gates until they meet up with both Mercedes and Ferrari staff to help escort them along. They've been speaking amongst themselves for a while, Valeria trying to keep her nerves at bay as she walks into the paddocks. It's her first time here as a racer for F1, not just to support Carlos, and she can't help the way it makes her feel sick.
"¡Ay, Papá! Relax!" Carlos laughs, watching as his father adjusts Valeria's outfit for her... for about the hundreth time.
"[It's her debut, Carlos! Let me make her look nice!]" The man defends his actions as they've stopped outside the Mercedes garage. Valeria feels two little arms wrap around her leg and she laughs, leaning down to pick up Jack as the Wolff's approach and smile. Toto and Carlos Sr. exchange a quick hand shake and greeting while Susie fusses over Jack's shirt being ruffled now that he's still. Valeria is well aware of every camera on her, her skin crawling at the sight of everyone watching her.
This was the part of racing she never liked, but had to accept, the insane publicity.
"Alright." Carlos leans over to give his baby sister a tight hug she reciprocates without hesitation. Snuggling into his tight hold as he murmurs to her, "[Good luck, not a single one of us will go easy on you.]"
"[I wouldn't want you to.]" Valeria steps back, smiling at her brother. As much as she knew Carlos wanted nothing more than to keep her glued to his side the whole day, they didn't have much of a choice since they were on seperate teams. Before she can make a snide comment, her father takes her in for a tight hug.
"[I'm so proud of you, Valita.]" He muses to his daughter, stepping back after a moment to straighten her collar and give Jack a little fist bump.
"Gracias, Papá." Valeria smiles, pecking his cheek, "[I'll be nice to Carlos.]"
Her father laughs, a bellowing thing as he claps her shoulder and Carlos playfully flicks her cheek. A few more pleasantries are exchanged before Valeria's waving the two off to go drop him at Ferrari while she turns into Mercedes with the Wolffs.
As soon as they're in the garage, Susie takes Jack from Valeria and the driver escapes off to George's drivers room--or, hers, she supposes to drop her bags and get changed into her team shirt. It feels weird to press the Mercedes crest to her skin this time, because its a different uniform. The white shirt they're wearing this weekend pairs perfectly with her dark wash jeans and white platform sneakers, her gold jewelry a nice accent. But she can't help but stare at herself in the mirror.
This isn't F2, for F1 Academy. This is the real deal.
She hates that its an injury that's brought her into Formula 1. But, she supposes, it's nice to know that Mercedes trusted her. Winning F2 her first year in it and winning F1 Academy for two seasons might've done it, but shes also done hundreds of tests in these F1 cars. She knows George's car like the backs of her hands.
When she exits George's--her, drivers room, she so distracted runs headfirst into someone. Curses fall from her lips as she stabilized herself, barking out apologizes with a flushed face before soft laughter chimes in her ears.
"Oh! Lewis!" She smiles and the Brit grins, bringing her in for a tight hug.
"Hey Little Sainz, how are you?" Lewis steps back, eyes trailing up and down Valeria as if seeing her against for the first time, "God, you've grown since the last time I saw you."
"It's been like six months, Lewis. I haven't grown that much-- and I've been good! Training, training, and more training." Valeria follows Lewis out to the main garage, his hand ending up on her back to guide her through a bit of a crowd before the re-emerge in a calmer spot.
"I've been watching you and Dorianne absolutely dominating F1 Academy. It's nice to be getting the next generation of drivers in." Lewis smiles, stepping up to stand beside her. He's almost suffocatingly close as they chat, but she chalks it up to the crowded garage.
And tries to not think it's weird Lewis has yet to move his hand.
"Holy shit, Prema crew is back!"
Valeria squeals as Logan lifts her, Oscar laughing off to the side as he steps to the side to wait for his turn to give their childhood third a hug. Since their days of karting, the three were practically glued at the hip. It had gotten to the point where the two had been to their home in Spain multiple times, and vice versa, the two practically as much her brothers as Carlos--with Lando slowly working up to tht level.
"How are my two pain in the necks doing? Got over your weird not talking bump?" Valeria is finally set on her feet and she pulls Oscar into a side hug, grinning happily before letting go of both as she leans against the wall of the exterior back wall Mercedes garage. It's still super early, so not many people are here, giving the three a quick pause to reconnect.
"Through the magic of you forcing us both to answer FaceTime calls, yeah." Oscar smiles, fist-bumping Logan, then Valeria, "Glad the trio is back in action."
"Fuck yeah. It's been way too long since the three of us have gone out, we should do something this weekend." Logan smiles and Oscar gasps, quickly rattling off a few places he and Lily were looking at going to over the weekend, as well as when his family was visiting. Logan tries to pay attention, to Oscar and Valeria's excited chatter, but he seems to notice something.
Oscar's about to call out Logan's distracted look whent he American pulls him a bit closer to Valeria and leans down to whisper, "Why's Lewis staring at you?"
Valeria perks up and then turns back to look in the garage where she can see Lewis' eyes for half a second before he tucks away and moves out of her eye line. Her eyebrows crease before she turns back to her friends.
"Probably just looking out for me, he's probably worried about media or something being weird..." Valeria shrugs, but when she feels eyes on her and turns back again, Lewis' gaze isn't exactly what she'd expect.
"No, it's not anything protective. It's.. like it's constant. It's weird." Logan hums and Oscar even looks back now, all three of the post-Prema trio staring at Lewis until he dips away.
"It's super weird." Oscar reinforces and both men look to Valeria. She sputters before admitting softly,
"Okay, he's been a little weird, but I think he's just worried with media and everything. The Mercedes garage was packed with reporters when I got here and he refused to move his hand off my back--I also didn't ask him to, so he probably think think it was weird but." Valeria shrugs, "there's no harm in him being nice guys."
"But he doesn't really know you, does he?" Oscar hums, "Like its not weird for me, Logan, or even Lando to do that because we're close with you and Carlos trusts us."
"Mate, I think you're overthinking this," Logan nudges Oscar lightly, sharing a knowing look with him, and Valeria can see his attempt at lightening the mood. But it falls flat.
And Oscar, thinking he's making a point just says, "I have sisters."
Logan turns to look at Valera for help, and she just shrugs, prompting Oscar to continue his thought.
"One of my sisters had this older dude she worked with hit on her for a few weeks before she noticed. He was always checking up on her, being overly nice, and the--the hand on the back thing! He did that."
Valeria laughs softly, squeezing Oscar's arm in reassurance, "I don't think he's flirting with me, Oscar. He's like, forty. He is literally old enough to be my father."
"You're definitely otherthinking this, Osc." Logan chuckles and Oscar raises his hands in defense, saying something about being better safe than sorry. But his words are lost in the hubbub of the paddocks as media starts to filter in, forcing the trio to say goodbye to turn to their respective garages.
Valeria tries to not let it bother her that Lewis is the first in Mercedes to speak to her when she returns.
Tumblr media
"Valita!" Two arms wrap around Valeria's mid section and she squeals mid-interview as Carlos pokes her sides. Resorting to whacking his hands away so that she can get him to stop tickling her, Lissie laughing at the Sainz siblings banter.
"Congratulations on Q2," He smiles, wrapping an arm around his sister, the cooling feeling of his cooling vest on her back making her huff and lean into his touch.
"Congratulations to you on Q3, I was just as close as Ollie was to Q3!" Valeria laughs, letting Carlos hijack her interview for a bit. Mostly because she's excited to be able to do these sorts of things with her brother, and also because it feels safe.
"A wonderful start for the both of you tonight," Lissie smiles, angling her mic towards Carlos as he speaks.
"It's a real honor getting to have my sister here to race with me," Carlos slightly tightens his grip, but more out of a genuine happiness than any level of overprotective weirdness, "She's a wonderful driver and I really hope that people will get to see that this weekend, and in the future."
"And Valeria, how does it feel racing with Carlos?"
"Oh dios mio, It's like a dream! I never thought we would be able to race together since I was always just behind him, but I've looked up to Carlos since karting so it's honestly amazing to get to be there, driving along him now." Valeria turns to smile happily up at Carlos, who returns the gesture and passes her back to Lissie for her interview once he's whisked away by some Ferrari employees. Smiling through the interview, even as her energy is dragging, Valeria eventually finds solstice on the floor in her drivers room to sort of reset herself. Plus, the concrete is ice cold and it feels amazing after hours of being in a car and on her feet in the Australia heat.
Three knocks on her doorframe make her look over, to where Susie stands and smiles softly.
"Great work, rest up. We'll see you tomorrow."
Valeria nods, sitting up to thank her as Toto leans on the doorway behind her and smiles, his voice a deep timbre as he says, "those guys aren't going to take it easy on you tomorrow, to them you're just another car. Keep your head straight, stay locked in, you've done excellent so far."
"Thank you, Toto." Valeria gets up with the help of Susie, and as Lewis passes by with a soft congratulations she tries to ignore the fact his eyes seemed to settle anywhere but her face.
She's got bigger problems to worry about.
Text
I apologize in advance for this monstrosity of a post. But I have to get a point across here. Like...either Byler is endgame and is going to happen, or Will Byers is going to go down as one of the most tragic TV Show characters of all time.
Sounds a little like hyperbole, no? Well, let's just recap. This starts when Will is 12. Just 12 years old. This adorable, sweet, little, innocent bean here. Just keep in mind these pictures for future reference:
Tumblr media
He's kidnapped by an interdimensional monster and forced into a dark, cold, lonely place all by himself. He's stuck in another dimension for a whole week, trying desperately to get out, wondering if anyone is going to save him, all while constantly fearing for his life. Alas, the demogorgon did get to him:
Tumblr media
And, even after he was rescued, he was still puking up slugs:
Tumblr media
All this is from S1. Enough trauma to last several lifetimes. But wait, there's more.
Apparently Will hadn't suffered enough, so they had the Mindflayer set its sights on him. And well, we all know S2 didn't turn out the best for this now 13 year old boy.
Tumblr media
And if the mental pain and anguish and loss of innocence of having your body forcefully entered against your will isn't enough, they decided to heap on some intense physical suffering as well:
Tumblr media
And to end the series, you have to have the monster literally burned out of you by your own mother while you're tied down to a bed.
Surely our boy has had enough right? Wrong. On to Season 3. 14 year old Will is mostly sidelined this Season, but he's present enough to get ignored by his friends and put down by his best friend for his "childish" interests, a fact that hurts Will so bad he breaks down and calls himself stupid before resorting to demolishing his childhood fortress. The same haven of safety that helped to save his life in the Upside Down. He's then forced to pack up and move from the only home he's ever known, severing all his friendship ties, such as they were.
Tumblr media
Well at least they're gonna fix stuff in Season 4. So here we go, and...what? Excuse me....hmmm...okay. So I've just gotten word they in fact did NOT fix things in Season 4. We have Will, now 15 (or maybe actually still 14 since the Duffers apparently FORGOT HIS BIRTHDAY) so happy to see Mike at the airport for the first time since leaving town, get his hug physically rejected (when Mike has no problem hugging anyone else this series). He's then forced to third wheel and watch his best friend/love of his life have fun with his step-sister. He then LIES TO MIKE (something we have seasons of evidence that Will hates to do) in order to project his own feelings for Mike onto El because that's what he thinks Mike needs to hear. And he's then forced to help Mike "confess" his "love" for El as he stands there and hears Mike say that his life didn't really begin until the day Will disappeared?
Tumblr media
Guys, even if you don't ship Byler, you have to admit....this is a pretty fucked up life in the span of 3-4 years. My point in posting all of this (and actually depressing the hell out of myself as I looked for all the screenshots) is if they really leave him like this, and Season 5 doesn't turn things around for Will...or maybe even somehow gets worse and they either kill him off, or force him to stand there and fake a smile while Mike and El live happily ever after....well then fuck this show.
They introduced us to this sweet innocent kid, made us all fall in love with his character, then treated him like their personal punching bag for four seasons. If they aren't planning on giving him a happy ending, that's just downright sadistic. After everything Will has gone through, they're going to make him a gay kid in the 80s living in smalltown Indiana in middle America, with an unrequited love for his childhood best friend? A fact that makes him feel "different" and like he's a "mistake"? Overkill for the sake of overkill. Trauma p*rn. And that's just the suffering they've shown us onscreen. Just think of how many nights laying in bed alone Will has had these thoughts about himself. Or desperately wishing that Mike felt the same way, even though he "knows" it's hopeless. Truly tragic.
Yes, other beloved characters in this show have been traumatized too, yes. But they've also all had sustained happy moments that the show has shown us on screen (for characters that were around for more than one season). Every time Will seemingly gets an ounce of happiness it's violently snatched away.
I refuse to believe that the show doesn't want to give Will a happy ending. There has to be a reason for his suffering. And yes, I think Byler is the only satisfactory happy ending. And that's not my choice, that was the choice of the showrunners. They made being in love with Mike his whole character in S4. Gay pining at its finest. Trying to intro a new love interest at the last minute isn't going to cut it. I'm not going full delusional like before. But I do believe that S5 Byler has a good chance of happening. Otherwise...it kind of taints the whole experience.
Ships? But Sir, They're Trains!
It's Valentine's Day, and to celebrate, I thought I'd break my usual streak of not shipping the talking trains together and share the pairings that I like the best! But only of the original 11, and a few other RWS-related friends (and maybe a bonus or two from the TVS).
Also known as: local weirdo decides trains can kiss, but only on Valentine's Day.
Let's get into the ships... er... trains.
Thomas:
Almost chronically single. I'm sorry Thomas, but you're not very good at the dating thing. Maybe Hank if I swallowed my pride and went to watch Season 12 - just because Hank's calm and friendly personality would naturally balance out Thomas. But also because they are the epitome of 'gentle giant' and 'tank engine terror'. Also, Thomas blushes in this episode:
Tumblr media
(Sorry for the Season 12 image, but it's the only Season Hank was in!)
Edward:
This engine has options! Or more to the point - this engine has suitors. Not all make sense to the poor engine - but that's the pain of being the one everyone looks up to. I would put him with BoCo, but I must admit I had a phase where I read EdwardxJames fanfics. So... nostalgia wins (that and Edward needs someone with a fiery personality to boost his confidence sometimes, and James needs a cooler head all the time).
Tumblr media
(Look at the smile on James' face! He's ecstatic to see his engine.)
Henry:
Bear. The answer is Bear. I'm sorry, but that Hymek has it bad for Henry, and Henry fought for Bear to stay on Sodor. And after the early days when every engine fought, Henry has no interest in getting tangled up with them again, only this time romantically. Besides, the youthful energy and eagerness Bear has will only benefit Henry, who can be a bit of an old grump.
Tumblr media
(Bear, I can't tell if you're looking into Henry's eyes or not...)
Gordon:
Hoo boy... Gordon, oh Gordon. What to do with you? Henry and James are taken, Edward and Thomas are more siblings than romantic interests - and engines 6 through 11 are just not close enough. But how about BoCo? (Yes, this is why I didn't pair him up with Edward). BoCo is calm and polite where Gordon is loud and brash - and Gordon does see BoCo as his saviour. It would probably be the plot of a b-list romantic movie, but I can see these two getting together, with Gordon being the jock and BoCo being the 'kid' of Edward.
Tumblr media
(Look at that little smile Gordon has! This engine is smitten.)
James:
He's with Edward, thank you. More than that, he doesn't really fit well with the other RWS cast romance-wise. Thomas is something of a rival and friend, while he wants Gordon and Henry to acknowledge him and Percy is something of a little brother/annoyance to James. Edward and he have a lot to work out (mostly James groveling) but they got a lot of coding in the series from what I remember. Plus Edward saved him - so we've ticked the cliche box.
Tumblr media
(Yes, this means Edward is the knight in shining armour. James is a diva anyway.)
Percy:
Has about as much luck as Thomas does, if we're honest. Young, childish Percy has no chance, while older, grumpier Percy is more interesting to consider. The Percy of Seasons 5 and 6 I could see bagging Harold. But then, we could also consider the absolute insanity of Percy and Diesel 10. Imagine the shock, imagine the story! (I'm a writer, let me dream about how I'd write this lot). Diesel 10 would be the delinquent who is soft for Percy and Percy only. It would also lead to an epic fight between the helicopter and the engine with a giant claw.
Tumblr media
(Um, is Percy... blushing?! What are these faces?! I have questions.)
Toby:
Is married to Henrietta. They are old couple goals. Percy and Thomas are extremely jealous.
Tumblr media
(Toby is grinning cause he knows his wife - that poor manager...)
Duck and Donald:
I considered Percy for Duck, but I feel like what Duck needs is an engine who can really bring out the playful side in Duck - the engine who helps him be more than just the railway he used to work for. That engine is Donald. When they ended up playing pranks on each other in Donald's Duck to the point where Duck stooped to putting a literal duck in Donald's tender knowing Donald would find it funny really says it all about these two.
Tumblr media
(Look at him, so excited to play his little prank! His driver is wheezing!)
Douglas and Oliver:
These two practically have a kid in Toad already (or an advice-giving uncle. One of the two). Douglas saved Oliver, and that sort of thing has a lasting impact - especially because it's also the most likely relationship to actually happen. Both Douglas and Oliver are known for sticking it to authority, being a bit hot-headed and being led a bit more by spirit and the heart than by their heads. They have Toad for critical thinking. They live and work together too - and it would be hilarious to watch Duck blast his safety valve off when he finds out.
Tumblr media
(Ah yes, let me just stare into your eyes for half an episode.)
Mavis and Daisy:
These two are disaster lesbians, and we love them for it. It's also the femme fatale (or as femme fatale as a diesel railcar can be) and the butch (she works in a quarry - this girl wears overalls) tropes - and they're disasters. Need I remind anyone that Daisy was the one who encouraged Mavis to ignore Toby? It would also be hilarious purely for how much Thomas and Percy would grumble about being single, while Daisy and Mavis rub their relationship in the pair's faces. Which would lead to that one memorable incident where Thomas tried to flirt with a very unamused and confused Bertie.
Tumblr media
(Mavis, sweetie - don't listen to Daisy's advice. I know you're distracted but ple-- and she's gone.)
Annie and Clarabel:
Are wine aunts and siblings. And no, neither of them are interested in Thomas, so you can stop thinking that.
Tumblr media
(These coaches are Thomas' wine aunts and best friends - and he loves them too.)
Bill and Ben:
Are children! Edward's children! That he has with BoCo (sort of) leading to the brilliant moments where Gordon has to 'babysit' them - which is mostly done with a lot of grimacing and begging BoCo to just hand this lot over to Edward and James - no seriously, please stop letting these two just randomly adopt you as their parent. They're evil, and they wanted to throw me in the sea, remember? No, I don't care that James doesn't like them, I don't like them! BoCo!
Tumblr media
(He's petrified of them, but he wants to be nice for BoCo's sake...)
Emily:
Does not need a man, thank you. But she is entranced sometimes by Caitlin's streamlining (yes, I have seen some CGI - I am not a true purist, I am sorry Awdry). Then again, sometimes Emily likes Hiro - and then there was that one time where she was just so upset that Mavis wouldn't notice her. Emily doesn't need no man - but she's also not exactly got the best selection of potential candidates at her shed...
Tumblr media
(She's got an amazing poker face. Caitlin however...)
So... that was a thing I did. Somewhere around Percy's entry, this gained a coherent plot in my mind - probably a High School AU? - and now I'm just thinking of Diesel 10 towering over Percy, blushing and trying to give him flowers (with his claw???) while Harold seethes. Clearly, being a single pringle has driven me insane.
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone, I hope you enjoyed this wild idea and if people want expansions on these ships (still trains) and why I like the idea of them, please go ahead and ask!
If people really like this, I will take on the Narrow Gauge engines.
Carmen Sandiego
Outfit Ranking. Season 1
Here is Part 2
Here is my very own ranking for Carmen Sandiego outfits in season 1.
I feel it is necessary to mention that she is so fucking hot and wicked-awesome that she looks amazing in everything. She would look beautiful in a potato sack.
Warning: this is a long post that may contain my bad resolution images and poorly made gifs.
13. Gray Vile Uniform.
Tumblr media
It is weird that having Countess Cleo on the very faculty, the students' uniforms are so ugly. 0/10 Ugly crap. Even the cleaners look better.
12. Dark Vile Uniform.
Tumblr media
It is an upgrade. Still not very stylish. Kinda neutral, but at least black and green get along fine enough. But it is a uniform... her personality doesn't shine through this one.
11. Overalls.
Tumblr media
She still hasn't grown into her own style but at least I believe it is a personal choice. And green is so not her color.
10. Lab Coat.
Tumblr media
She looks so sexy with glasses. She looks classy and smart. But at the end of the day, it is just a lab coat. We know she can rock anything she puts on, but there is no much effort in this, since it is a disguise, a quite simple one at that. Still, baby you look great!
9. The jammies!
Tumblr media
So cozy. We get a glimpse at her everyday life. Still very practical and very red. She seems to wear her make up to bed and leave her clothes on the floor.
We are not only seeing a superthief here, but a beautiful woman that just woke up... literally.
Tumblr media
8. Diver suit.
Tumblr media
Red, red all over. Completely in character. It is obvious the effort in making this piece useful efficient and stylish all in one. Probably one of Ivy's best works.
7. Duchess disguise.
Tumblr media
How did Devineaux didn't recognize that beautiful gray eye! Black suits her just fine. Mysterious and fancy. Shows her figure well and the pantsuit compliments her nice strong legs. Looks good with straight hair (that's the only straight thing that suits her).
You can see here she likes chokers. They are part of most of her outfits.
6. Denim shorts.
Wow talking about nice strong legs! Girl you're just showing off. Don't blame you, keep it up. Sporty look here appropriate for the weather. How can she make a short and a t-shirt look so good is beyond me.
Tumblr media
With a matching hoodie when it gets cold.
Tumblr media
5. Bikini.
Sadly we could not get a good look at this piece. She was on a bad mood at that particular time and didn't want to get off the chair. Too much sun, she said I've had enough tropical beach to last me a lifetime, she said.
Despite how awesome she probably looks in this swimsuit, I think it does not deserve to be in the top 3.
Tumblr media
We know she likes wide hats :)
Tumblr media
4. Auction Dress.
Hot hot hot hot! Oh boy it's burning baby! No words for this. My brain just melted when I saw her in this dress for the first time. Red and gold combine so well.
The gloves! so elegant!!!
Tumblr media
Did you see her back?! asdjkwashgdfhf!!!! Also I told you she likes chokers.
Tumblr media
Bonus! We get a closer look at her shoes! And so does Devineaux :)
Tumblr media
Now the next is the Top 3. I believe the next ones really look good on her. Not only because she looks pretty but also because it shows her personality. She feels so confident and comfortable wearing them that she puts them on regularly. Therefore it may not be a surprise they are the top 3.
But before that, the 3 honorable mentions.
Honorable mention # 1.
A cute dress for a cute girl.
Tumblr media
Honorable mention #2.
Olé!
Tumblr media
Honorable mention #3.
Black sheep.
Tumblr media
3. Mumbai outfit.
She wears this the first time in Mumbai. Where she meets Jules. Perfect for hot weather. Nice and casual. Little red belt and unavoidable chocker. Love it. I don't know what else to tell you. Simply fabulous.
Tumblr media
She is just so unbelievably cool.
Tumblr media
2. The RED COAT.
This is the most recognizable of all. The signature. The trademark. This one is what earns her the nick names. La femme rouge! The crimson ghost! Fedora the explorah!
The agility, the sneakiness, the skillfulness!
This coat represents the path she chose. This is the person she has become. Where the world is in danger of loosing its history she's made her mission to preserve it.
Iconic. Just iconic.
Tumblr media
So resourceful! She makes me weak in the knees.
Tumblr media
NUMBER 1.
Red Hoodie.
Where the Red Coat dresses the thief, the Red Hoodie warms up the woman. This is Carmen, the girl in her comfy everyday clothes. If she had had a normal life, this is what she would wear.
You know that shirt that you barely take off? The one pair of pants that you wear so often it gets holes at the knees? This is it for Carmen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is what she feels most comfortable wearing on a daily basis. It is my opinion that this is the more genuine expression of Carmen Sandiego when it comes to clothes. And for that I give this outfit the first place.
Tumblr media
Gorgeous!
Thank you for coming!
South Side Story
Shameless Fanfiction Season 1
Desna Hills has come living in the Southside of Chicago four years before. Taken in by Kev and V, Desna is close friends with the Gallaghers. Let's see how this Southside story unfolds.
MASTERLIST
<< Previous - Next >>
Tumblr media
Chapter 12
I need to talk to you, Ian had texted her, that was the reason she was walking towards the Gallagher house that morning.
Desna was quick to cross those few meters knowing that if she had thought about it longer she probably would have stayed home. But she managed to arrive at the house, opening the door of the kitchen.
“Hey, Des,” Fiona greeted her with a smile.
“Hi, Fi,” she said, “Is Ian upstairs.”
“Sure,” she nodded pointing the stairs, “Help yourself.”
“Thanks,” Desna said before frowning, “Why is it so cold in here?”
“My thought exactly,” she heard Fiona say as she run up the stairs. Desna was about to turn to go towards Ian’s room, when she almost bumped into Lip.
“Hey,” she said avoiding to look at him.
“Hey,” he muttered. Desna could feel his posture tense, not sure what to say to her, “A-are you here for-“
“Ian,” she said looking at him for the first time. Coursing herself when her eyes lingered on his lips a bit longer than she had to. She really missed him, talking to him and feeling him against her body. She was so stupid.
“He um… he is in our room,” he stutter pointing behind his back.
“Thanks,” Desna said lowering her head, moving around him.
“Better for you to be dying,” She muttered as she closed the door, catching Ian’s attention.
“Mandy Milkovich tried to have sex with me,” Ian said with panicked voice.
“What?” She asked her eyes wide, “Where? When?!”
“Yesterday,” he said nervously pacing the room, “She waited for me after my shift, she came here.”
“She is quite straight forward I’ll give her that,” she thought out loud.
“Yeah!” He exclaimed sarcastically, “She took a condom out at me.”
“W-what did you do?” She asked her eyes wide.
"I pushed her away!" he exclaimed sitting on his bed, "And I may, or may not had made her cry."
"Was she really upseat?" Desna asked carefully.
"She ran away," he said looking up at her, "Even Fiona saw her."
So Mandy Milkovich was upseat with Ian. An upset Milkovich running around the Southside was no good. They truely were almost criminals, and most of them really were.
"Is it going to be bad?" Ian asked her with big eyes, waiting for her answer, surely hoping to have some kind of encouragement. But she really didn't know. She knew for a fact how Milkovichs could be scary, Iggy was starting to concern her, for what she knew Mikey's father had been more inside prison than outside, and Mikey himself was now stealing Kash's shop regularly, and not only that surely.
"It's very bad, right?" Ian asked nervously, his legs buncing up and down. So Desna went to sit next to him.
"Being rejected, that happen, right?" Desna asked trying herself to find some good side of the situation.
Ian nodded his head qith quick movements, "Right!"
"I mean you cry and ask yourself why, but you get over with it, right?" Desna asked again and Ian nodded once more.
"Right!"
"What the worst thing she could do?" Desna asked and the answer of that question arrived to her that afternoon when on her phone arrived one message from Ian.
Mandy told Mickey I assaulted her, and now he wants to kill me, Desna's eyes widened as she read those words. She immediately asked Ian what had happened and he told her that Mickey Milkovich entered the shop, ready to beat him up. He got away only because he manage to lock himself in the back, and Kash covered for him telling Mikey that there was another exit from there.
That was not good at all. God, how could she made up a story like that? She knew perfectly well what would have happened and Mikey would not have stopped until he got to Ian.
She spent the following hours constantly checking on Ian through texts to know if he was alive. She was even had problems studying now that she know that Ian could have possibly end up in the hospital.
As Desna was pacing in the living room of her house, she noticed a figure limp on the street. Her eyes widened as she realized that she knew that jacket.
"Oh, shit..." she muttered before running to the door, "Lip!" she found herself running to him. As he heard her voice he lowered his head, tyring to not show his face at her.
"Keep ignoring me Des, I'm fine," he said but she was quick to move part him so that she could put herself in front of him, not letting him move forward.
"Jeez, Lip," she gasped, taking a step so that was now close to him. With her hand she delicately moved the hood from his face so that she could take a better look. His left side was covered in cut and bruises. He got a slash over his eyebrow, one over his nose and his top lip was cut open. She even noticed his left arm slightly bent, like he could not move it freely.
"Oh my God," she said, her fingers touching his cheek making him flinch, "I'm so sorry," she gasped, but he shook his head.
"It's alright," he muttered looking up to meet her eyes. She was studying his face closely. She really hoped his nose wasn't broken, or some other bones in his body.
"What happened?" she asked.
"Mikey Milkovich," he answered and Desna took a breath, before moving to stay next to him.
"I'll take you home," she said touching his back with her hand.
"You don't have to," he told her, but she shook her head stubbornly.
"I'm not leaving you," she answered back. He looked at her, his eyes softened as he observed her face.
"Okey..." he muttered before they headed towards his house. Desna would keep looking him, to see if he was in much pain. She had to call V as soon as they got inside. When she turned she noticed Fiona standing on the porch speaking with Tony, the young policeman.
"Let's use the back of the house," Lip said to her, gesturing at her where to go with a movement of his head, "I don't want them to see me."
"They will anyway," she argued.
"Can you not talk back for once?" he asked turning to look at her.
"No, I don't think I can," she said and her heart melt as she noticed him smiling at her.
"Hey Lip, there's a body on the other end of this," they stopped as they heard Tony's voice, Lip was doing his best to not show his face, but what they had done to him was too evident.
"No, it's cool Tony," as he spoke Fiona saw his injuries immediately.
"Jesus, what the hell, Lip?" she esclaimed, but Lip didn't answered back. He just looked at Desna moving his head so that she'd follow him into the house.
"I'll call V," Fiona said running upstairs, as Desna helped Lip to the kitchen. He set on a chair, making a little graunt, while she went to take a rag before moving to the sink to fill a cap with water. She needed to clean his skin before putting ice on his bruises. Desna duble checked as the frame of an old man dressed in ladies woman sleeping on a chair in the living room.
"Who's that?" she asked frowning.
Lip was holding his forehead, before giving a look in the direction she was looking, then he scoffed, "I don't even know," he said as she walked back towards him, soaking the cloth in the cold water. But when she put the rag against his forahead he issed
"I'm sorry," she gasped moving her hand away just a little bit, "I'm so sorry."
He shook his head, "It's alright, don't worry."
"I'll try to be as gentle as possible," she said getting closer, "But tell me if I hurt you," Lip nodded his head before letting her move her hand closer to his face. She proceeded to clean his skin, trying to avoid the cuts. They didn't seem to bleed anymore, but his eyes was getting darker.
"Why is Mikey after you?" she asked softly still working on his skin.
"He's not," he answered, "He is after Ian."
"Jeasus Christ, for the Mandy thing?" she exclaimed, rubbing his skin lightly.
He hissed for a second before looking to her, "You know?"
"Ian told me that Mikey wants to beat him up," she explained, being very gentle with her touch.
"Wish he told me as well," he said with a chuckle. She moved her hand a little bit, she hoped he didn't need any stitches.
"If he did this to you, I'm really concerned about Ian right now," she admitted. Now she was truely worried about Ian's life. Those people were fucking crazy.
Lip nodded his head before tilting his head, with amused eyes.
"Maybe the fact that I said that Mandy is blowing 400 dudes in 10th grade didn't help," his nonechalance made her wide her eyes, she would have smaked him if he hadn't been already beaten up.
"God, would you ever stop with the sassy comments?!" she exclaimed, but his lips moved into a smirk.
"No, I don't think I will," he answered leaning forward towards her.
Desna groaned, "You wouldn't even know how to shut your mouth to save your life."
"Are you worried?" he asked.
"Yes," she answered shortly, now realizing how close they were. They had both leaned forward, their heads inches apart and their knees touching. Her hand still at the side of his face rubbing his cheek gently.
"Thank you," he said, his eyes staring into hers, "For helping me."
"Don't mention it," she said diverting her eyes to take another look at his cuts. Unconsciusly she smiled.
"What?" he asked her, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
"I've just realize that the first time we’ve talked you had been having a fight as well," she said remembering him at thirteen years old fighting on the street just in front of her house.
"You had set next to me on the side road with a pack of ice," he remembered nodding his head. That's how they had become to be friends. Desna didn't like to get out of the house as she had arrived in her new home, but after having helped Lip, him and Ian had started to ask her to go play with them, or to walk together to school.
"You had been my first friend," she said with a small smile thinking back at all the years that had passed. Then she noticed him staring.
"You are not my friend," his words made her smile disappeared. She really could not understand him and why he seemed so eager to hurt her lately. But before she could move away he took her wrist in his hand, keeping her close, "But you are something for me," they looked at each other before they started to lean forward.
"What does it mean?" she asked confused.
"I don't know," he whispered before his lips touched hers once again. Desna's eyes closed as she kissed him back. After all those weeks they were kissing again. She had missed him. His right hand moved at the side of her face, as he deepened the kiss. They were lost in each other as the heard the front door open, making them pull away. But the moviment had been so abrupt that Lip gave out a groan.
"You okay?" Desna asked touching his face with her hands. He nodded with squinted his eyes.
"Shit, Lip, what happened?" Veronica's voice made Desna turn to see her and Fiona walking into the kitchen. Desna looked at Lip for a brief moment before giving V space to take a look at him. When she moved she noticed Fiona looked at her as Desna set on another chair, but she ignored it to listen what Veronica was doing.
She had brought all the medicines they had in the house and started to dab Lip's forehead with cotton wool soaked in hydrogen peroxide. Lip hissed as she did.
"Oh sorry, sweetie," V said gently, as the cracking noise of the wooden stairs announced Frank's presense. He looked at his son, but he didn't say anything as he set on the stool next to the counter, sipping his beer.
"The nose is the most commonly broken nose in boys between the age of 13 and 25," Veronica explained, observing Lip's face.
"T-that's facinating," Lip said before pointig at the man still asleep, "But who is the old dude?"
"It's not a dude, it's you're aunt Ginger," Frank answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Lip frowned, "What, the one that owns the house?" Desna looked at Frank, what was he up to this time?
"That's right," it was unbelievable how Frank knew how to lay without flinching, "Hey Ginger," he said towards the man who had been woken up by his loud voice, "Say hello to your nephew," the poor thing looked so confused.
"Dad, stop," Fiona almost begged with an heavy breath.
"Why is he trying to pass off Mr. Perry as Aunt Ginger?" Lip asked confused as Desna double checking the man. She had not realized he was Mr. Perry.
"Who?" Frank asked with a frown.
"The old bus driver," Desna answered and Lip nodded.
"Sleeps behind the dumpster over at the A&P," he explained, his eyes breafly meeting Desna's that smile looking down.
"Social Security wants to talk to Ginger," Fiona began to explain, before glaring at her father, "And he is too lazy to get the real one."
"Where?" asked Desna with a frown.
"Michigan," Fiona said.
"That's retardedly brilliant," Lip commented and Desna frown at him.
"Really?" she asked as Frank spoke.
"Thank you!" the man exclaimed.
"Or brilliantly retarded," Fiona said and Desna felt like agree. And as Frank thanked again, the girl rolled her eyes.
"Now we have to drive all night to go get her," Fiona complained trying to have a reaction out of her father, but it was useless. Fiona took a breath before turning to Veronica.
"Think Kev will let us borrow his car?" V frowned.
"No." Kev was getting restless everytime he figured out that V or Desna had lent something of theirs to the Gallaghers. He almost lost it the morning of the day before when he learned that the Gallaghers had borrowed their toaster because Carl had broke thiers.
"I'll call and beg," Fiona decided standing up heading to the living room.
"We got those from Imelda over at the Holiday Inn," Debbie said entering in the kitchen with Carl, placing old hairdriers on the kitchen counter, "It'll will be a good way to stay warm."
"You okay?" Desna asked Lip as she saw him move his neck with a painful expression.
"I'd like to say yes," he said looking at her with a small smile that she returned.
"Hey, Kev, it's me," Fiona said with her phone against her cellphone.
"Does she has a chance to convince him?" Desna asked V that glared at her. Probably not. "Maybe you could ask him after sex," she suggested, making Lip chuckle.
Suddenly Frank moved taking the phone from Fiona's hand, "You won't need the car," he muttered and everyone frowned at his words.
"How are we gonna get Ginger?" Fiona asked confused.
"She is dead," Desna widened her eyes.
"What?" Fiona exclaimed.
"Who's dead?" Debbie asked looking at them waiting for an answer.
"Ant Ginger," Lip said and Debbie got upset.
"Did you know her?" Desna asked to Lip, that shook his head.
"Debs you've never met her," he said a bit confused.
"And now I never will!" She exclaimed and Desna and Lip looked at each other.
"Don't give me hard time," Frank complained defensively like he always liked to be, "I've been very upset about it. I'm in mourning."
Desna shook her head, how did they all managed to pull up with Frank's shit was something really unbelieveble for her.
"When did she die?" Fiona asked with wide eyes.
Frank shrugged his shoulders, "T-twelve years ago," he stuttered, "I was trying to protect all of you from the drama, how do you think I feel?" he kept justify himself, "That woman was my heart and soul, she practically raised me."
A great fucking job, she did there.
"Dad," Fiona was speaking in the countless attempt to put some sense back in her father's head, "You've been chasing her checks. That's felony. We are leaving in her house. Was there even a will?"
"You don't need a will, if she's not technically dead," Frank said as if it was incomprehensible that Fiona was not getting it.
"Yes, she is technically dead, Dad," Fiona said getting pissed as she moved towards her father, "Dead is dead. Just because you haven't told anybody that she's dead doesn't make her not dead. Fuck!"
That was very dangerous, Fiona could go in jail and the other would have been sent in foster care, and Frank... whatever happened it was alright at that point.
"What are we gonna do now?" Fiona asked before Veronica's lips moved into a giant smile.
"Well..."
