8 : Oh so boring
The horrifying MCU-ification of the Star Wars universe is in horrific display as 8 episodes lead nowhere but setup.
Before I get to everything else, I do want to say, Ray Stevenson's passing is a true tragedy, and I appreciate the love and care he clearly put into his character. He was the only compelling one, and I shudder to think of how Disney will probably heartlessly recast.
Now, on to the episode
Well, all the leaks that said it was zombies were right, to the surprise of no one. This is the MCU now, we need something more than just a fuck ton of stormtroopers to blow through, we need an undead CGI army.
First off : The Jedi, The Witch, and The Warlord...FUCK OFF FILONI. YOU ARE NOT CUTE.
The show opens with the attempt to lull Legends fans back into a Sion reference for no reason. Also, Thrawn's super baggy pants seem unnecessary, especially since the design in Rebels always has him in perfectly tailored clothes. Nothing during his decade abroad that would have cause the pants to change that drastically, so it just feels like an unnecessary change that is not an attractive look :(
Morgan's power ups make no sense, and as soon as she got them she was going to die. Her eyes had me making a half dozen Supernatural jokes for obvious reasons. The whole "Blade of Talzin" thing is also very dumb given the fact that I assume Mother Talzin would have used every weapon in her arsenal to stop Grievous, and I would think a lightsaber proof sword is on that list.
The entire "Ezra makes himself a new lightsaber" scene filled me rage for a few reasons.
A) Ezra literally just turned down Sabine's offer of the lightsaber for the martial arts force powers which we never see him use again.
B) Huyang knowing about Caleb and Kanan being the same person feels kinda weird to me to be perfectly honest.
C) Ezra's new lightsaber is boring. Full stop. This is the kid who built a gun into his first one, it makes no sense that he'd make one that looks this mediocre.
D) All of Sabine's family dying horrible deaths on Mandalore has always struck me as a cop out. It's just lazy writing to isolate Sabine.
The Stakes
Spoiler alert : THERE ARE NONE
We knew this was going to end in a cliffhanger for a while now, which means none of the main cast was going to die. Morgan has always been a means to an end for Thrawn, not that her loyalty was ever explain...But none of our heroes were gonna bite it (regardless of how I hoped for Huyang to explode) so there were no stakes. Thrawn had to escape, despite the fact that he is weirdly shaken, so he does. Ezra had to get home, so he does. Sabine and Ahsoka are now trapped on some stupid Mortis world??? Okay, pause, I'm getting ahead of myself here...because before that...
Sabine has the Force now
My deepest condolences to anyone who is finding this out from me, but Sabine is offically confirmed and shown to be Force sensitive. Yes it is dumb. Yes it makes no sense. Yes this is something we all saw being foreshadowed from day one, unfortunately. Especially with the playing down of her Mandalorian-ness (she's constantly losing her helmet, her gun accuracy has utterly gone, she barely uses her gauntlets, etc etc) it was obvious that Filoni wanted to do with her, what he was too cowardly to do with Grogu.
Other miscellaneous shit
It turns out that Ahsoka's shuttle is Jedi era...which makes no fucking sense.
The nightsisters being totally on board with the Empire feels like their ability to tell what's going on in the main universe might be a bit sketchy do to the fact that they missed that the guy in charge of the Empire is the one who ordered Dathomir razzed.
100% of the problems that the gang run into would have been solved if Sabine had a fucking jetpack
They pull the "Thrawn knew Anakin" card out of nowhere in the dumbest possible way, which really just goes to show how much FIloni hates the new canon Thrawn books.
Chopper recognizes Ezra (which was rather cute) before Hera does, because he decides to show up on a New Republic cruiser in full Thrawn stormtrooper garb. Also we don't even get a hug between Hera and Ezra.
Shin (because she exists, remember?) who is also stranded now, goes and appears to be taking over the bandit camp we saw earlier. Have no idea where they are taking that...but honestly, good for Shin doing something for her, this seems like a selfcare move.
Now, the ending...Fucking Mortis
So, the final shot we get of Baylan, he is standing on a giant statue of The Father (there is a statue of The Son, and a destroyed statue of The Daughter) pointing out towards something on the horizon.
Back at the hermit crab people camp, Ahsoka and Sabine (and fucking Anakin's ghost, because that's right people, instead of hanging out with his son, Anakin has been just hovering over Ahsoka this whole time apparently) here this chirping, and it's a fucking creepy hyper realistic CGI Morai.
So yeah, that's clearly how all of the trapped characters are going to get off this planet...the World between Worlds. Now, this brings up a fuck ton more questions...Chief of all being how did Ezra not use this to escape years ago???
And I get that Mortis is not everybody's favorite Clone Wars arc. Which is fair. I don't hate it, but I never loved it, and Filoni dragging in the dumbest piece of Force lore that he created is infuriating. ESPECIALLY with this being so obviously aimed at those who've not watched Clone Wars or Rebels. I'm curious to see how much he immediately recons about it, given that it's been his go-to move since before even Mando s3...
I fear they're going to do something like "Bayan is The Father, Ahsoka is The Daughter, and Shin and Sabine have to fight over being The Son" or some stupid bullshit like that.
I'm glad this is the last Filoni property we're getting for a while, since I'm pretty sure he's not involved with Skeleton Crew at all writing-wise.
I am just so happy it's over!
In the meantime, if you are as annoyed at Filoni as I am, spite him by reading the new canon Thrawn books!!! They are really fantastic and give Thrawn a lot of facinating depth, along with having an incredible cast of side characters.
For those of you who are new or just finding me because of my Ahsoka rants, please stick around!!! I'm sure I will be having other annoyed Ahsoka thoughts in the weeks to come as I think back about the full series and about just everything that it's fucked up. Feel free to pop into my ask box if you're curious about my other Star Wars related opinions, I'm more than happy to answer, though know that for the majority of the recent shows, I do not look fondly.
But if you are looking for some vindication on not enjoying recent Star Wars things, then this is the blog for you!!!

say what you will about how morty was characterized in season 5
but that scene in the episode when we meet two crows where morty cuts off his own hand and then cauterized the limb with his jetpack was one of the coolest thing he's ever done and I think that's great character development and personally I cannot wait to see him go more feral

Rick OC Info
Name: Rick Sanchez
Nicknames: Grandpa (by slick), grandpa rick (by slick) and Chill Rick
Dimension: C-149
Age: 64 (currently deceased)
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Demisexual
Appearance: He has the normal appearance of a rick. Only different features being having a longer and shaggier hairstyle and scars on both his hands and palms. He wears this hat along with this tank top (usually worn with grease stains) with this brown leather jacket, distressed jeans and brown combat boots.
Bio: He was orphaned as baby. Growing up a group home and several foster families that just never stuck. Rick was left to fend for himself which he found easy to do. Because people wanted little to do with him he found it easy to just handle things by himself and as a result it's hard for him to feel comfortable around other people. He really has to comfortable around you and learn to trust you for him to build a proper bond.
Seeing as he just kept to himself with the occasional drinking buddy he never met his diane and as a result never had beth as a daughter. Deep down he desperately craved companionship and to belong to a family but he didn't trust people enough due to his upbringing to try to make those connections.
When he was offered to live at the citadel among other ricks he thought this was his chance to make some connections. Being around other versions of himself must mean they have a lot in common. Which wasn't the case as much as he thought but he was able to make a few friends. His strongest connection was definitely with the morty he was assigned with. Slick morty.
He didn't know how to feel about taking care of a morty considering he had never even been a father let alone a grandfather but seeing as he grew up in foster care himself he wanted slick to avoid that if he could so he tried his best to take care of him.
Over time he noticed how other ricks treated their mortys was abusive at worst and just assholes to their kids at best. Rick opted to be neither. Treating the boy like he was his own. He worked as mechanic to make ends meet. All the inventions he made in his down time being stuff they could either enjoy together or little gadgets that just amused the boy like robot dogs and jetpacks. Adventures they go on are often light hearted. When things get too dangerous for comfort he makes sure to portal them home quickly.
Personality wise he's relaxed compared to most ricks. Only getting upset about things that negatively affected him and his morty. He doesn't exactly agree with how the citadel is run but is willing to be just another cog in the machine if it means him and his grandson can have a peaceful and happy life for the most part.
Though slick called him grandpa he was more of a father figure to him. He just thought calling him dad would be too weird and they'd get odd looks from the other rick and mortys. Their time together ended when a grenade was thrown on one of their fun adventures. The attack came from out of nowhere. He acted on his protective instincts. Slick being the only thing he really cared about he pushed him out of the way sacrificing himself in the process.
Slick didn't take it well not only because of how close they were but due to how the system worked when it came to mortys. They had no patience with his grief. Wanting him to get over it quickly. They gave him a new rick so he should be over it right? It was due to his intense grief and guilt over being the reason he got himself killed that he messed up on so many adventures with his ricks getting a majority of the killed and the others so annoyed with his uselessness that they sent him back. He decided at some point to fake it.
Pretend he got over his death. Life had to move on so he had to put on a somewhat happy face and do what he was told. To this day while he's happier with AR and SR as his caretakers he still isn't over his grandpa's death. Carrying this repressed rage over his demise. Pretty much the only people who were know about it and comfort him over it being his group of friends and boyfriend.

High on Life is basically Rick and Morty meets Ratchet and Clank.
Like yes, it’s in space and you get a bunch of guns, sure, but Kenny’s introduction is kinda the same as Clank’s. Bad guys come to your planet to fuck shit up for profit, but one of the sentient beings they use as a weapon defects, and asks the player character for help. The main difference is that Kenny is a gun slug, while Clank is a robot that turns into a jetpack/helicopterpack/aquajetpack.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Crossovers
Just for fun, I decided to see how many canonical crossovers, nods, references, and winks to the audience were placed within Buffy and Angel (or were done for them).  Be they in the series, official continuations, or tie in media.  As long as it was officially published, we’re counting it!
Let’s go!
(Updating!)
The first level of crossovers come from Buffy itself:
Season 3 “Bad Eggs” - Lyle and Tector Gorch of The Wild Bunch are now Vampires.  No, really.
Season 5 “Buffy vs Dracula” - Self Explanatory.
Season 5 “Listening to Fear” - Wally’s World is mentioned as a real place.  This is from National Lampoon’s Vacation.
An odd assortment.  One of the most violent films of its times, a classic monster, and a goofball comedy.  It shows a range, and honestly, I could see Buffy sharing space with such worlds.  It’s one of those things I check Crossovers for.  I test to see if I can picture the characters meeting in my mind on either of their programs.  And in two cases, I don’t have to!
What does Angel have to offer?
Season 1 “City Of…” – In the Novelization, Angel notes a sprawling Beverly Hills home and recalls the Greystoke mansion. Greystoke is the family name of a man better known as Tarzan.
Season 3 “That Vision Thing” – A Wan-Shang Dhole is mentioned, this is an X-Files monster of the week from the episode “Alpha”.
Season 4 “Soulless” - A book with Tolkeinian dwarvish appears on display among the research texts the characters are looking through.  This episode was directed by Sean Astin.  This brings in The Lord of the Rings.
Season 5 “Hell-Bound” - Necronomicon de Muerte is mentioned.  This is literally just a different way to say “Necronomicon Ex Mortis” from the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness franchise.   The Magdalene Grimoire from Niel Gaiman’s Sandman is also mentioned.
Season 5 “Harm’s Way” – Businesses who use Wolfram and Hart’s services include Weyland-Yutani (Alien franchise), Yoyodyne (Buckaroo Banzai: Adventures Across the 8th Dimension), and Fox Newscorp.
This is a lot.  First, the Tarzan thing is a cute thing for me as a crossover researcher because Tarzan is one of the linchpins of Philip Jose Farmer’s Wold Newton Universe, so there are now literally thousands of things that can be within ‘6 Kevin Bacons’ of Buffy.  And a man raised by rather intelligent “Mangani” gorillas is not too weird in the Buffyverse, and Tarzan has dealt with weird stuff on par with Buffy.  Hollow Earths with Telepathic Pterosaurs, man.
It’s pretty easy to picture an X-Files episode trying to explore Sunnydale, and Buffy has dealt with some nosey government snoops before.  I’m surprised there isn’t more fanfic of this one.
Lord of the Rings is a bit trickier to work with.  Now, the ‘gag’ of the Lord of the Rings is that it’s claimed to be old English legends translated from tombs whose names escape me at the moment.  But you might think the Old Ones, Demons, and the like of Buffy and Angel wouldn’t jive with the Maiar and Valar of Tolkein.  But, I have a way that comes in through other crossovers later down the list.
Evil Dead/Army of Darkness is a perfect fit in Buffy’s world and vice-versa.  Sandman is Multiversal, so no worries are needed there.  nor do we have to worry about what happens in that series beyond to the character of Dream himself.
Alien is an odd duck, and has the horror and action cred to mix with Buffy, but is very sci-fi.  Even for Buffy, who has literally battled robots and jetpack wearing wannabe supervillains.  But, again, there’s a way around it.  Buckaroo Banzai is just fun, so there are no real problems there with extradimensional aliens just being another way to say “Demon.”
Season 8 and Beyond
Buffy Season 8 #6 - The 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler appear in the background.  This is, of course, a mild nod to Doctor Who.
The scene is set in London, so, it’s sensible.  The 10th Doctor’s adventures don’t fully give well with the Buffyverse’s magic and mysticism (the Shakespear episode, in particular, stands out in that regard).  But, when you dive deep into crossovers, you have to be able to alter quickly from a Watsonian (In-Universe) explanation to a Doylist (out of universe) one.
There is another pair of references when Dawn ends up fighting a Mechanical monster with her face in Japan in Season 8, its body is that of Mechagodzilla mark 1.  And when a Dragon attacks a military base at the climax of Season 11, it has Godzilla’s onomatopoeia “SKREEOONNK!”
How to take THAT as a reference I leave up in the air for now, but I do have ways ...
Crossovers in Tie In Media
Short Story Collection: Tales of the Slayer Volume 2 “House of the Vampire, London, England, 1897” –  Sherlock Holmes (Baritsu, and a “Detective on Baker Street”)  explicitly referenced, as is Springheel Jack, and Dracula.  Wax figures of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde appears.
Short Story Collection: Tales of the Slayer Volume 2 “Undeadsville” - Zoe Kuryakin, a Beatnik, is the Slayer, and has a cousin named Illya from Ukraine.  Illya Kuryakin is from The Man from UNCLE.
Comic Miniseries: Spike vs. Dracula - In an early issue, the Slaughter Lamb from, An American Werewolf in London appears.  In #5, Spike rants that Dracula “May have fought Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, King Arthur, and Zorro.”   The first two are from the Universal Horror cycle.  The latter two are comic book series that actually exist.
Novella: The Night of the Living Rerun – Book of Eibon is cited.  This is from the Cthulhu Mythos.  It appears first in Clark Ashton Smith’s “Ubbo Sathla”, and later appears in a Lovecraft’s “The Haunter in the Dark”, “The Dreams of the Witch House”, “The Horror in the Museum” and “The Shadow Out of Time.”
Novel: Out of the Madhouse –  Springheel Jack appears.
Official Web Comic: City of Despair – Hellboy and a Predator are in the background as gladiators in a hell dimension.  This is a Dark Horse Comics publication.
Comic Crossover Series: Past Lives – Angel #15 and 16, Buffy #29 and 30, Dark Horse v.1 of each.  Dr. Seward (Dracula) mentioned.  A Bust of Hellboy appears in the Background of Giles’ office.
Novel: Blooded - Lord Byron, in a flashback, sets of a slayer’s spider-sense.  This is a reference to Highlander, where he is an Immortal.  The writer of this also wrote Highlander tie-in novels.
Novel: These Our Actors - During a flashback to 1880, there is an actor named Hamish Bond who looks like Sean Connery (James Bond nod).
Comic: The Death of Buffy -Spike comes to Giles seeking the Shear of Cyttorak, a being from Doctor Strange’s rogue's gallery.  No evidence of the Juggernaut.
Comic: Spike: Asylum - The titular Asylum was built by Ivo Shandor (Ghostbusters).
Comic: Free Comic Book Day 2012 “In Space, No One Can Hear You Slay!” - Buffy battles a “Zompired” demon that looks like the alien Xenomorph.
Comic: Angel vs Frankenstein and Angel vs Frankenstein II  - Angel(us) and Frankenstein’s monster battle throughout history.
Comic: Viva Las Buffy - Idpa from The Devil’s Footprints, a Dark Horse comic, appears in this Dark Horse publication.
Comic: Spike: Old Wounds - Spike and the AI Crew at Wolfram & Hart battle a Kandarian Demon, from the Evil Dead series.
Comic: Angel Spotlight - Wesley - Gunn asks Fred to look into some slime from “the Ilithid case”.  Ilithids are, of course, from the Dungeons and Dragons game.
Novel: Dark Congress - An alternate take on what happened after the end of the series.  Here, it’s mentioned Lovecraft himself died closing a Hellmouth in Providence, Rhode Island.  “Shuggoths” and “Yurgoth” demons also appear.  There’s a lot of reasons I don’t take this one very strongly.  But at least it’s worth mentioning.
Sherlock Holmes is one of the most common things to cross over with, right there with the Cthulhu Mythos, and Dracula.  So it’s only fitting that Buffy crossed with the latter two, she eventually gives a nod to the World’s Greatest Detective.
Jekyll and Hyde are in and fit well as Buffy already had an episode channeling it.
The Man from UNCLE is an odd inclusion, being a cold war spy show, but nothing about it really contradicts the Buffyverse model. James Bond is in a similar position.
Spike’s rant to Dracula could be taken as simple pop culture references, but taking them as crossover references is more fun.  And multiple species of supernatural beings with different rules (such as the Werewolves in Buffy and in An American Werewolf in London) is something crossover theorists often employ.
Springheel Jack is a Victorian-era “Mad Gasser’ mysterious being that was eventually turned into a pulp hero.  He fits into Buffy as is with no problems.
Hellboy fits in quite well to Buffy’s whole thing.  With the Demon Research Initiative being a full military operation to the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense’s FBI.  Ghostbusters is in a similar position.
While we’ve had references to Alien before, here she fights something very much like them.  And getting a Predator in after referencing Alien was inevitable.
The Highlander crossover is a bit odder to work, as it means there are two groups of “Watchers” out there.    And there’s no real way to work around it.  Since it is with the TV Series Highlander it means, well, you probably already know what Highlander canon is like.
The Cyttorak reference is different.  While it’s tempting to say “Buffy’s a Marvel now!”, most crossovers theorists limit such major comic book universe crossovers to the immediate character referenced.  So, that means Cyttorak, maybe Dr. Strange, and maybe the Juggernaut.
The Frankenstein Angel battles is most likely the original, as it doesn’t have the flat top of the Universal one.
The Devil’s Footprint is another demon hunter, so that fits.
DnD is hard to work with because so much runs on game mechanics, but it’s easy to say that the DnD Multiverse is at least adjacent to Buffy as Ilithids are extradimensional themselves and might travel elsewhere.
Crossovers in Other Series
Fallen Angel: Reborn - Illyria is a guest star in this story, where she finds herself transported to a  Bete Noire, a city founded by the descendants of Cain which is liminal slightly extra-dimensional space.
Eureka “God is in the Details” – Global Dynamics worker tells the sheriff that perhaps Eureka was “Built on a Hellmouth”.
Gen13: Netherwar - A novel.  A Hellmouth opens in Vegas, even called as such.  Lovecraft referenced (De Vermis Mysteries), John Lynch is implicitly Nick Fury.
Camera Obscura - The 8th Doctor (Doctor Who) rent Sherlock Holmes apartment in 1893 (he was presumed dead at the time), meets a “bloody awful poet” named William (later Spike).
Supernatural Season 7 Episode 7 “The Mentalists” - an Orb of Thesulah is referenced.
House of the Dead 2 (film) - Cuesta Verde University is said to be just outside Sunnydale.
AndiyBarker P.I. - The Double Meat Palace is in an episode as a focus.
Hack/Slash #28 “Something's Fishy” - Cassie Hack battles Mary Shelly Lovecraft, a reality twisting horror.  She calls forth Deep Ones to Haverhill and creates a Frankenstein Monster (Cthulhu Mythos, Frankenstein).  Mary Shelly references having fought Hellboy (“I should be glad it’s you, the girl with mommy issues and no special skills, instead of that red devil boy”), how Cassie reminds her of Buffy Summers (“You are interesting.  Perhaps not as widely loved as that summers girl...but still compelling.”) and brags that she is “Frankenstein,  Cthulhu, and Godzilla all rolled into one. “ Haverhill, Mass. is the real world ‘setting’ of Archie, of which a parody/homage appears in this story.  Mary Shelly Lovecraft is a “Sentient Hyper-concept of the nth level, given consciousness and desire by the pure relevance and power of [her] source materials.” that wants to obliterate physical space and replace it with “the superior realm of idea space.”    So, meta-fiction is sort of her bag.  But I’ll take her at face value.
Legion of Monsters (2011) - Featuring Elsa Bloodstone, Morbius the Living Vampire, The Living Mummy, Manphibian, Werewolf by Knight, Dracula (Tomb of Dracula), Son of Satan (Daimon Hellstrom).  A Hellmouth is mentioned.
Merkabah Rider series of weird Western tales, specifically, Merkabah Rider: Have Glyph Will Travel “The War Shaman” has the Watcher’s Council name-dropped alongside the Order of Kun-Sun-Dai as allies of the Merkabah Riders.  Also in this tale Ghostbusters, Cthulhu Mythos, Solomon Kane, The Frisco Kid, and The Shootist get nods. Buffy references also occur later on in Merkabah Rider: Once Upon A Time in the Weird West which goes DEEP onto Mega-Crossover territory, including Cthulhu Mythos, Lord of the RIngs, Simon of Gita, Solomon Kane, Kull, Conan the Barbarian, Steve Harrison, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Ghostbusters, Quantum Leap, Kung Fu (TV Series), Indiana Jones, Batman, Something Wicked This Way Comes, House II: The Second Story, Oz, Winchester 73, The Wild Bunch, The Quick and the Dead, Hombre, and The Lone Ranger.
Okay, now we’re getting into harder territory.
Fallen Angel is a series from Peter David and a spiritual follow-up to his Supergirl series over at DC Comics (from when she was an “Earthborn Angel”.  No, I’m not joking).  The idea of this series is, well, Peter David tried to be as Blasphemous as possible.  The short version: God is Suicidal.  Given Season 8, that fits in quite well.
Eureka is a show about mad science, basically.  Cutting edge tech causing problems and all that.  Such things have been on Buffy for a while, so it’s not too big a stretch to have them share a universe.
Gen13 is a little odder because it is a superhero series.  Though it focuses on genetically modified teenagers on the run from the corporate/government/whatever big secret group that made them as they are (and goofing off a whole lot).  Thought the degree of powers on display is a bit much for Buffy, the basic concepts are not so out there.  Basically, if you lower the “Power Level”, it becomes much more manageable to handle.  In other words, Caitlin Fairchild would be physically stronger and tougher than Buffy herself, but not as fast.  And not quite as Fast/Tough/Strong as Glory, Illyria, Jasmine or other Buffyverse Heavy Hitters.
We already covered Doctor Who from Buffy’s end of things, and now we can do the reverse. Fun, isn’t it?
Supernatural is somehow worse to handle than anything else mentioned so far.  I’ve gon on before about how the way Supernatural handles its monsters and gods ranges from the bland to the actively insulting (”It’s like a Baptist’s version of a Neil Gaiman story!”).  And, let’s face it, while the basic idea of the Winchesters being brothers who hunt down monsters fits in pretty well, the mythologies involved are almost diametrically opposed.  And with many monsters in Buffy being Bullet-resistant (like Vampires) they would have to re-arm themselves appropriately.  Now, to mention, there are two great “What Ifs” of Supernatural in my mind: one is “What if they did have that adventure at Crystal Lake with Jason Voorhees?”, and the other “What if it was John Constantine who showed up instead of Castiel?”  Consider that when going forward.  At the end of this, I’ll do a brief cosmology overview with what we have in the Buffyverse and its crossovers to try and make sense of all this.
House of the Dead 2 is really just another Zombie movie.  These things happen.
Andy Barker, P.I. is a detective show that lasted a month.  This crossover nod is literally the most noteworthy thing about it!
Hack/Slash is another monster hunter who could fit in pretty well with Buffy (though Buffy herself would have some words about Cassie’s fashion choices).  But the nature of the crossover, Cassie basically fighting the horror version of Mr. Mxyzptlk, could have it be that the creature traveled from world to world to meet both Buffy and Hellboy separately.  But ... isn’t it more fun to think they were all in the same world?  I mean, we already have TWO Buffy and Hellboy crossovers listed.
Legion of Monsters is a Marvel comics series written by Dennis Halum (who at the time intentionally went by the pen name “Dennis Hopeless”).  It brings together many of Marvel’s monsters and establishes an undercity of Monsters under New York that just wants to live in peace.  The key here, and with the Gen13 crossover is the use of a Hellmouth to mean an active portal to a hell dimension. Or just Hell.  The term itself was basically originally a medieval synonym for “The Gates of Hell”, often portrayed as a literal mouth of a literal creature.  Normally, I wouldn’t call it a crossover, but since Buffy Aired it returned to common usage in fiction after literally centuries.  So, I think it holds.
Merkabah Rider is about a Hasidic gunslinger in the Weird West dealing with demons and other mystical threats.  Jewish mysticism is a fun addition to the crossover-Buffyverse, IMO, so that’s pretty neat.  Solomon Kane is a solid addition to, as Robert E. Howard’s proto-Conan stories teaming up a Puritan Monster hunter with an African shaman is just wonderfully kooky on a conceptual level alone.  The Frisco Kid is a western comedy about a Polish Rabbi who befriends a bank robber, and The Shootist is an Academy Award-winning John Wayne western. This is extra fun because that film uses clips from other Wayne westerns to establish the lead as, well, an excellent shot.  These include Red River, Hondo, Rio Bravo, and El Dorado (1967).  The others are basically a mega-crossover deluge so I won’t go into specifics there beyond having more Rober E. Howard is pretty fun, House 2 has an amazing scene with John Ratzenberger who is, I’m not kidding a “Repairman and Adventurer” -- he has a card and everything. Tonally, that is PERFECT for Buffy.
Mega-Crossovers
Mega-Crossovers are stories that cite and reference half a dozen or more stories at once.  These range from big comic book crossover events, to things where you need to be more on your toes like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.  Buffy has gotten nods in a few of these.
Eugenics Wars: The Rise of Khan Noonien Singh Volume 1 - Gary Seven and Robert Lincoln stop a government project creating supermen.  Strap in, folks, this is a doozy: An encounter with Robot Housewives in Connecticut is mentioned (Stepford Wives).  One of the eugenics workers is a sallow bug-eyes man named Mr. Eyegor (Young Frankenstein). A scientist on the project, Maggie Erickson, is featured.  She is engaged to a man named Mr. Walsh -- so she would become Maggie Walsh (Buffy Season 4) later in life.  The original Frankenstein is referenced.  Other references/cameos/nods include The Avengers (TV series), The Six Million Dollar Man, The Pretender, Beauty and the Beast (80s TV Show), Bionic Woman, Modesty Blaze, Knight Rider, The Equalizer.  And, of course, Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The Katrina Protocol a.k.a. Crépuscule Vaudou - a Club Van Helsing Novel.  Here, supernatural things rise up in the wake of Katrina and shenanigans ensue.  Dracula, White Zombie, Brother Voodoo, Child’s Play, Tales of the Zombie, Revolt of the Zombies, Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos, I Walked with a Zombie, Zombies on Broadway, Kolchak the Night Stalker, the works of Stephen King, Charmed, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Lives of the Mayfair Witches, The Body Snatchers (novel), Carnacki the Ghost Finder, The Exorcist, The Thing, The X-Files,  The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, and MAAANY others. Those others include: The Black Coats, Arsène Lupin, James Bond, Angel Heart, Duke de Richleau, John Thunstone, Pirates of the Caribbean, Captain Blood, Lorna Doone, Gulliver's Travels, Leatherstocking Tales, Treasure Island, John Carter of Mars, Moby-Dick,  Doc Savage, The Phantom, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, The Wild Wild West (TV Series), Gone with the Wind, Oz, Lone Ranger, Sherlock Holmes, Martin Hewitt, The Shadow, Fen-Chu, and Atlantida.
Tales of the Shadowmen Vol. 1: The Modern Babylon “The Paris-Ganymede Clock” - This is a story set in the 2050s has Insurance Investigator Arthur Whimsey look into the theft from the Louvre of an important artifact.  Fantomas takes credit for the theft.  Over the course of the investigation, he also meets Commissioner Robin Muscat.  This story overall mixes elements from Lord Peter Wimsey, Fantomas, and Robin Muscat with Buffy.
Tales of the Shadowmen Vol 7 Femmes Fatals “Fiat Lux!” - This story has Quinten Travers (an ancestor of the one in Buffy) commenting on a duel between Marquis Henri-Jean de Sainte-Claire and Cyrano de Bergerac.  The Nyctalope, Cyrano de Bergerac, The Three Musketeers, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Invaders (TV Series), as well as Black and Mortimer referenced alongside Buffy.
Tales of the Shadowmen, Volume 10: Espirit de Corps “True Believers” - This tale features references or appearances by: Sâr Dubnotal; Blithe Spirit; Simon Ark; Lensman; Sherlock Holmes; Dark Shadows; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Semi-Dual; Doctor Strange; John J. Malone; Kenneth J. Malone; Network; I Dream of Jeannie; Northern Exposure; Jane Arden; The Continental Op; Nate Heller; Judex; Dr. Spektor; Some Like It Hot; Little Caesar; Scarface; Robin and the 7 Hoods; Dick Tracy; The Big Lebowski; Morris Klaw; Suicide Squad; Theodosia Throckmorton; John Thunstone; Fergus O'Breen; Rocket to the Morgue; Call Northside 777; Ghostbusters; Cthulhu Mythos; Bell, Book, and Candle; Mr. Mulliner; Carnacki; Special Unit 2; and The Quincunx of Time.
The Quest of Frankenstein tells the story of the original Frankenstein in 1914 working with Herbet West (Cthulhu Mythos) to gather ingredients fro him.  This references The Creeper, Doc Savage, Conan, John Kirowan, Bran Mak Morn, Solomon Kane, Carmilla, Dark Shadows, World of Watches, Nosferatu, Underworld, Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter, Black Sunday, The Vampire Chronicles, Vampire City, The Black Coates, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Most Dangerous Game, The Vampyre, The Count of Monte Crisco, Blind Dead, Lord Peter Wimsey, Waldemar Daninsky, Curse of the Crimson Altar, Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter, Works of P.G. Wodehouse, Viy, The Mummy, and She (Who Must Be Obeyed).
Harry Dickson vs. The Spider “The Mark of the Red Leech” - This pulp adventure has references to not only “The American Sherlock Holmes” as he battles Georgette Cuvieler a.k.a. Madame Spider and the monstrous Professor Flax.  Here, we have a Private Henry Jones Jr (Indiana Jones) in the trenches being scolded by Captain Harry Dickson.  Colonel Renwick likes Private Jones, and would later be an aid to Doc Savage.  Dickson remarks that they and Captain Spencer, and Captain Ulysses Paxton, won’t likely see each other again in this world, and for Spencer, this is correct as he eventually became the cenobite known as “Pinhead.”  Paxton later becomes embroiled in the sagas of Barsoom in the John Carter novels.  There is also a Private Simpson, who ... well, he is a bit cartoonish for things overall.  The group finds a body with an odd mark on it, which reminds Dickson of something he read about in his mentor’s files.  His mentor is Sherlock Holmes.  Major Richard Wentworth (better known later on as the murderous vigilante The Spider) goes mad in the trenches and has to be subdued by the group.  He calms, thankfully, but it hints at the madness to come. The killer in the trenches turns out to be the vampire Sir Frances Varney.  Dickson remarks that Dracula is real.  Wentworth, along with a Colonel Wyndham-Price were hunting the vampire, who was ultimately slain by a man named Isaac who was traveling with a small girl (Isaac Laquedem and the girl are from Paul Feval’s novel The Wandering Jew’s Daughter).
Tales of the Shadowmen Volume 11: Force Majeure “Don’t Judge a Book by Its Title” - Ash Williams travels to France after reaching out to other members of the Paranormal community, including the Ghostbusters.  He contacts Sâr Dubnotal, an elderly Frenchman.  He encounters another cabin where he thinks a copy of the Necronomicon is held.  He drives off a demon named Baal (from a 1924 novel of that title), and ends his service to a Female Vampire (a 1975 film) named Countess Irina.  Irina’s giant servant tells Ash that ... he’s got the wrong book.  She has the Mad Arab’s Necronomicon (Cthulhu Mythos), while he is looking for the Necronomicon ex Mortis.  Irina asks Ash as he departs if he is “THe one destined to fight the forces of Darkness.”  He answers “The Same...although I did hear something about a girl named Buffy who hangs out with the band Slayer, I think.”  As always, Ash is a schmuck.
Tales of the Shadowmen, Volume 12: Carte Blanche “The Case of the Curious Cadaver” features Spiridon the Mute, Doctor Omega, The Adventures of a Parisian Aeronaut in the Unknown Worlds, Arsene Lupin, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, C. Auguste Dupin, and Fantomas as well as Buffy.
Of all the crossovers listed, the only ones which get my eyebrows raised are Stephen King and Charmed.
Blood and Bullets, the first of the Deacon Chalk series published in 2012 (likely set in 2010) is about a demon hunter who takes up the cause after his family was killed by a Nephilim (human/angel hybrid).  He says
“There are a few self-proclaimed vampire slayers and they range all kinds. Anita (Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter - though a version where the ‘lid’ is kept on the supernatural) out in St. Louis, but she has a lot of stuff going on, not just vampire executions.  Cat and Bones (Night Huntress novel series) run their crew killing vampires and do a fine job of it.  I hear whispers about the Blue Woman (Sonja Blue) now and again, but it’s hard to pull the fact from the fiction on that one.  There’s some folk in California.  In LA.  And in a small town east of it, who do mostly vampire slayings, but I haven't met them yet (Buffy and Angel). The Black Guy and old man combo (Blade and Whistler who first appeared in the animated Spider-Man cartoon, and the Blade films)  who roam around do nothing but vampires.  From what I hear, they have a personal stake in it, so to speak.  Sam and Dean (Supernatural) will tussle with a vampire, but usually, they’re chasing down demons.”  Dracula (he insists he is Vlad Tepesh) also appears.
Stephen King, because he has his own cosmology built up around his stories with his Dark Tower series: a multiverse to which earth is but a tiny piece of a universe vomited up by a cosmic turtle that guards one of the six pillars of light holding up the Dark Tower.  The stories usually linked by crossovers are the most famous ones: Carrie, It, Pet Semetary, Jerusalem’s Lot and so on.
Charmed is... Charmed’s a mess, really.  Shallow, simple, a little trashy later on, and the monster design is just utter piss. The morality is simplistic, the philosophy is non-existent, and did I mention the monster design?
Right, enough ragging.  How to work it in.  Well, 3 powerful spellcasting family members are not unheard of in the Buffyverse.  Hell, the Svear priestesses are a good example of it.  Though there, it was a 3 women in a family line (daughter, mother, grandmother), it could be, in a crossover world, that they were the Halliwell sisters.
Which means Cordelia, possessed by Jasmine, Lizzie Borden’s the three in 2003.
Ain't that an image.
Anita Blake, Underworld, and other vampire stories in that Frankenstein Mega-Story is going to need some work.
Bland-Name Product Placement
Okay, a lot to go through here, but only a little bit of it is more than your standard drama/comedy fair of cops, lawyers, and ordinary people.
When a company needs a fictional brand, they often find themselves re-using props.  This means that the same ‘company’ exists in many TV shows and movies.  Because of this, a lot of crossover researchers only use it to re-confirm things that already have crossover links.  I’m of this mindset by and large, but since this is for fun, I do let a few others seep in.  Buffy gets in one Bland Product, but it is a very common one.
Morley Cigarettes.  This Bland-Named Product appears in Buffy.  It first appeared in the film Psycho.  It has been found in Movies(200 Cigarettes; Brooklyn Rules; Definitely, Maybe; Epicenter; Gun Shy; Heist (2015); The House on Greenapple Road; Ingrid Goes West; Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead; Murder’s Row; Murder in the First; Prozac Nation; S. Darko; Spy Game; The Traveler (2010); Transpecos; The Weight of Water; The World’s End; Under the Silver Lake; The Trigger Effect; Truth or Dare), TV (24; American Horror Story (Season 1); Bagboy; Becker; Breaking Bad; Beverly Hills, 90210 (original); Burn Notice; Californication; Cold Case; Criminal Minds; CSI: NY; The Dick Van Dyke Show; ER; Everybody Hates Chris; Fraiser; Friends; Heroes; Jake 2.0; Judging Amy; Justified; Killer Instinct; Kingdom (2014); Lost; The L Word; Malcolm in the Middle; Mannix; Medium; The Middle; Millennium; Mission: Impossible (1967); Naked City; Nash Bridges; NCIS; Perry Mason; Prison Break; Pushing Daisies; Reaper; Saving Grace; Shameless; Seinfeld; Sordid Lives: The Series; Space: Above and Beyond; Special Unit 2; The Strain; That 70’s Show; Twin Peaks: The Return; Up All Night; United States of Tara; The Blacklist; The Walking Dead; Warehouse 13; Weeds; Shooter; The X-Files), Video Games (Gone Home, System Shock 2), Books (Andres Spinova’s Marilyn Y un oar de Ases), and comics (Sherbert).  It also appears in The Twilight Zone (1959) “Static”, “The Thirty-Fathom Grave”, “In Praise of Pip”, “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”, “Living Doll”, and “Stopover in a Quiet Town”; and The Outer Limits (1995) “Falling Sar” and “A New Life”.
Epicenter has an extra bad Earthquake in San Francisco, but the movie is terrible so who cares too much if that is downplayed.
The World’s End, well, that ending really does throw a wrength into things.  A 2013 blackout of all electrical devices sending humanity to a new Dark Age is a bit much for even the Buffyverse.   Even if it’s 6 years after the end of Season 11.  Mostly because it barely jives with anything else linked.
S. Darko is a sequel to Donnie Darko the bizarre time-travel laden film.  The sequel is no different in that regard.
Joy Ride 2 provides us with the first human “Slasher” villain.
The House on Greenapple Road is a TV Movie based on the Dan August crime drama starring Burt Reynolds.
Murderers’ Row is a sequel to The Silencers and is a sci-fi spy film.  A classic “World Domination Group Has a Death Ray and is Going to Blow Up Washington DC!” stuff.
Under the Silver Lake is a conspiracy theory thriller about Hollywood elites up recreating ancient pharaonic funerary rights to achieve a form of immortality. The weirdest part of the film is the Owl Woman monster, but that’s just another monster out there.
The Trigger Effect is a 1996 films about an extended LA Power out that drives the people apart.  A Paranoia demon likely fed well.
The Political oddities of 24 are well noted, as is the propensity of Mountain Lions to show up randomly.
Heroes is a show about superpowered individuals showing up in the world en mass in 2006.  And the shenanigans that ensue after that. Not the first supers encountered, but notable for their numbers.
Jake 2.0 is about another Superhuman, this time it is done via nanotech.
Lost  - They’re dead and this is Purgatory.
Medium is about a psychic investigator.  Nothing too out of the ordinary for Buffy and friends, really. Pushing Daisies, Reaper, and even Special Unit 2 can be worked through to fit in the Buffyverse without too much hassle.  In the latter case, think of it as “What the Initiative became” after Buffy kicked its ass. Warehouse 13 is in a similar boat, but I do not know enough about its mythology to see how far it diverges.
Millennium and The X-Files both can fit rather well, with all the things they’ve dealt with.
The Strain is harder to work, because of the difference in what Vampires are, as fun as that series is.  A lot of crossover researchers propose multiple species of vampire running around due to how varied they are in different media even beyond what other rationalizations there can do (IE: “The producers of this piece changed things to try and make them more interesting”).
With The Walking Dead, well ... Everything listed can plausibly have its own The Walking Dead AU written without ‘breaking’ things.
System Shock 2 and Space: Above and Beyond can join Star Trek as a future that ‘maybe’.  Or someone can try and resolve all 3 into one timeline if they want.
Of the Twilight Zone and Outer Limits stories, none really give me pause.  Remember this phrase “Things Like That Are Easier On a Hellmouth.”
Parody Crossovers
Sometimes characters are parodied instead of just crossing over.  Still, it’s fun to count them and speculate on what “really” happened.
Vampirella vs Fluffy the Vampire Killer (2012)- It’s a pretty direct parody.  Vampi poses as a teacher, puritan demons are killing teenagers, mistaken blame fight, team up, the end.  It’s ... Not great.  The Buffy parody does take a dig at Vampi’s outfit, but ... well, I’m not going to repeat it because it is both crass and dull.  Plus whenever a man writes “Feminism means I can wear whatever I want” it’s time to put a dollar in the jar.  Not to mention quite late to the party given the publishing date.  A fanfic rewrite from Buffy’s perspective would be easy to work out I’d be surprised if it hasn’t been done yet.  Bet then again, I once expected songfics of Spike listening to “Heaven is so Far Away” from the Offspring while lamenting Buffy’s passing and never got it.  I mean, why would an avowed punk listen to punk music, am I right?
Big Wolf on Campus “Muffy the Werewolf Slayer” (1999) - This show is very similar to Buffy, but targeted at a younger audience, goofier, and pretty camp.  I like it.  The “Werewolf Slayer” is eventually convinced not to kill the titular werewolf and moves on.  With the timing and how “Muffy” dresses, behaves, and so on, it’s pretty easy to go “So this is what Faith did between Louisiana and Sunnydale” and very little needs to be tweaked to do that!
The List In Total:  (Re-Working)
275 series Crossed Over.
11 “Canon” Crossovers with Other Series.
18 from Tie-In Material.
32 References in Other Series.
128 from “Mega Crossover” stories.
And 81 featuring a Bland-Name Product.
Of those crossovers:
The Cthulhu Mythos is referenced 10 times.
Dracula is been referenced 7 times.
Frankenstein and Sherlock Holmes get 5 nods (counting the two Angel vs Frankenstein stories separately)
Ghostbusters has 4 Cameos or nods.
Hellboy, Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, The X-Files, Solomon Kane, and Doc Savage all have 3 cameos, nods, or co-nods.
Dr. Strange, James Bond, Springheel Jack, Alien, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, The Wild Bunch, Conan the Barbarian, Indiana Jones, Oz, Supernatural, Anita Blake, Arsene Lupin, Carnaki the Ghost Finder, Dark Shadows, Fantomas, John Carter of Mars, John Thunstone, Kolchak the Night Stalker, ord Peter Whimsey, Sar Dubnotal, Special Unit 2, and The Black Coats each have 2 crossover nods/references in common with Buffy.
With the other 145 crossovers each getting 1 nod, not counting the cigarettes.
God, I hope I haven’t missed anything...
(Edit: 7/30/19 at 5:32 pm EST -- I MISSED SOMETHING!)
If I’m feeling crazy/weird, I might just do a followup post to this with what secondary crossovers Buffy has.  Cutting the Mega and Bland-Name Product stuff from the list to save some sanity as well as going “Everyone, their mother, and Godzilla has met either Dracula or the Mythos, so those need their own posts.”

Day 25- Heartbeat
Anakin struggles with letting Ahsoka come on dangerous missions after what happened to her on Mortis.
rating: g
pairing: none
word count: 2446
(read on ao3)
Six out of my last seven prompts have been over 2000 words and this is why I’m still behind haha.
He used to dream about the future. Of his mother in pain. Of her dying a terrible and agonizing death.
Now, Anakin dreamed of the past.
He dreamed of Ahsoka, glaring at him with fierce yellow eyes, twisted and dark.
Of, the Son, the simple way he'd killed her. “Thank you, your usefulness has come to an end.”
He dreamed of the sickening sound of Ahsoka crumpling to the ground. Of forcing himself to move forward, falling to his knees beside her lifeless body.
He dreamed of checking for a heartbeat, a pulse, anything, and finding nothing.
Mortis was destroyed and Ahsoka was alive. But the memory of what happened would not leave him alone.
Anakin slumped onto a bench in the Temple dining hall. He stared blankly at the cup of caf in his hands, only halfway paying attention to the world around him. He hadn't slept well the previous night, waking often with eyes of the dead swimming behind his vision.
Anakin downed half the cup of caf and shook his head, attempting to clear his mind.  He knew he couldn't afford to be this unfocused. The Council was sending him out again that afternoon on a new assignment.
“Hey, Master,” Ahsoka said, sitting down across from him with a plate of food. She frowned as she took in his face. “Wow. You look terrible.”
Anakin shot her a halfhearted glare over the rim of his cup. “You know, I was going to let you out of meditation this morning, but now...”
“I just mean that you look like you haven't been sleeping well again,” Ahsoka corrected hastily. Her eyes softened. “Really. Is... everything okay?”
“Everything's fine,” Anakin told her. It was true. Nothing was wrong. It was just that he couldn't stop thinking about how close he'd been to losing her like his mother.
Ahsoka nodded. “Here,” she said, sliding her own cup of caf across the table. “I think you need this more than I do.”
Ahsoka always put way too much milk in hers, but Anakin accepted it anyway. “Thanks, Snips.”
“Don't call me that. I hate it when you call me that!”
He blinked away the memory, glancing down.
“We're heading out later, right?” Ahsoka said after she'd taken a bite of her breakfast, and Anakin paused in the middle of a sip of caf.
The mission was to a harsh Separatist planet with a toxic atmosphere. There, they would have to  wear special biosuits and helmets while they completed their mission of destroying the shipyards. If their suits were compromised in any way, they would die almost immediately.
That was an unacceptable risk to share with his Padawan.
“Actually,” Anakin said, “you'll be staying behind on this one.”
Ahsoka put her fork down. “What? Why?”
It's too dangerous, he thought. What he said was, “you're falling behind on your studies, Ahsoka. Besides, this will be a short assignment. I'll be back in a few days.”
Ahsoka frowned, crossing her arms on the table in front of her. “That's not fair. Why do you get to have all the fun?”
Anakin snorted. “We'll see who's had more fun once I get back.”
Ahsoka was disappointed. But she would be safe, and that was more important.
A few weeks later saw Anakin on the bridge of the Resolute. He was monitoring it's progress through hyperspace when the doors opened and Obi-Wan walked in.
“Ah, Master,” Anakin said as Obi-Wan joined him at the console. “We'll be coming out of hyperspace in a minute.”
“Good,” Obi-Wan said. “Anakin, I've been meaning to ask- where is your Padawan?”
“Ahsoka?” Anakin straightened up. “She's... back at the Temple.”
“Oh? What's wrong?”
“Nothing's wrong,” Anakin said evasively. “I just don't think this is a good mission for her, that's all.”
He hoped Obi-Wan would leave it at that. But he could feel Obi-Wan's eyes on him, even as he stayed focused on the navicomputer in front of him. “I imagine Ahsoka didn't take that well.”
“Not exactly,” Anakin said. “You know, sometimes I regret not listening to you when I was a Padawan, now that I know what it's like from the other side.”
Obi-Wan sighed. “If only that were true,” he said ruefully. “Maybe you would listen to me now.”
“I do listen to you.” Anakin considered that. “Most of the time.”
“You do know how to lead by example.” Obi-Wan's tone was dry. “But Anakin- this is the third time this month that you've left Ahsoka at the Temple.”
Anakin's mouth tightened. It wasn't as if he hadn't been letting her join assignments at all. But he'd realized that perhaps he was being too careless as Master. He wouldn't make that fatal mistake again.
“You didn't take me on every mission when I was your Padawan,” he reminded Obi-Wan.
“Yes,” Obi-Wan said. “But that wasn't a decision I made out of fear.”
His metal hand clenched reflexively. “What are you saying?”
“Anakin. Have you told Ahsoka what happened to her on Mortis?”
Anakin glanced sharply at Obi-Wan. “No. It's better this way.”
“Is it really? You're leaving your Padawan behind at the first hint of danger and you won't even tell her why.”
“The first hint of-” Anakin shook his head. “Obi-Wan, some of these missions are far too dangerous for Padawans, even of Ahsoka's level. I'm just... trying to be more careful.”
“Maybe you should tell her that.”
“She won't understand.” 'Too dangerous' was not a term that existed in Ahsoka's vocabulary.
“I think you're underestimating her,” Obi-Wan said. “You've trained her well. She can take care of herself.”
“We're coming out of hyperspace,” Anakin said, turning back to his console. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Obi-Wan shake his head.
“Alright. But Anakin, if you won't tell her what happened, at least start letting her join the bigger missions again. She isn't going to tolerate this forever.”
Anakin frowned to himself. He hated to admit it, but Obi-Wan wasn't wrong.
Two months after Mortis, Anakin, Obi-Wan and a small squad of clones were assigned to break into the Citadel, a prison in which Jedi Master Evan Piell, holder of the Nexus Route coordinates, was being held by the Separatists.
No one had successfully infiltrated the Citadel before. It was a place designed to hold Jedi. It was critical that they got Master Piell out safely. And it was definitely not an assignment he would have ever let Ahsoka join, regardless of the circumstances.
“Hey, Snips,” Anakin said, rubbing the effects of carbon freezing out of his stiff joints.
“Hey, Master,” Ahsoka replied, wincing as she stretched, and Anakin realized with a sinking feeling, that Obi-Wan had been right after all.
He reprimanded her in front of the rest of the team, which he wouldn't normally do, but his composure for the mission had been shaken. He couldn't send her back. It was far too late for that. Now he would have to break into the Citadel, rescue Master Piell and get out, all the while watching out for his apprentice.
He was angry, yes, but at the heart of that anger was fear.
“I gave you a specific order not to come.”
Ahsoka wasn't backing down. “If there's one thing I've learned from you, Master, it's that following direct orders isn't always the best way to solve a problem.”
Before Anakin could say anything else, Obi-Wan joined them. “I see Anakin's new teaching method is to 'do as I say, not as I do',” he said. He smiled warmly at Ahsoka. “Welcome aboard.”
Thanks a lot, Obi-Wan.
Anakin sighed. “Go help the men prepare the supplies,” he told Ahsoka, and watched as she ran off.
“I did warn you,” Obi-Wan said mildly beside him. Anakin turned his glare to his Master.
“Did you know about this?”
“No,” Obi-Wan said, “but maybe it's a good thing she's here. It might be good for you to see that she's capable of more than you think.”
“Or, she's going to get herself killed,” Anakin muttered. “Thanks for your help back there, by the way.”
“My pleasure,” Obi-Wan said with a quirk of his lips, then stepped away to assist the clones.
Great. Now both his Master and Padawan were working against him.
The mission didn't go as planned, Of course it didn't.
Upon closer observation of the enormous prison, they found that the wind was too great for jetpacks and there was nowhere to put a grappling hook without triggering one of the electromines that covered the face of the building. They were forced to free-climb the wall up to the entry point into the Citadel.
There, they discovered that the door was locked. Their mission was nearly over before it began- hundreds of feet above a lake of molten sulfer with nowhere else to go, their capture seemed almost inevitable.
And then, by squeezing through the ventilation ducts too small for the rest of them and opening the door from the inside, Ahsoka proved herself to be an invaluable member of the team.
When Anakin joined her, she was wearing a satisfied expression. “See? I can handle myself after all.”
Anakin just shook his head. He had never doubted her. It was the circumstances around her he didn't trust.
But... he was impressed.
They came to Lola Sayu with eleven people- three Jedi, eight highly trained clones. As they moved through the Citadel, facing traps and large squadrons, their number dwindled. Once rescued, Even Piell and his five officers became a huge assist, but even those added troops could not be everywhere.
Separated from his Padawan and in the middle of fighting a herd of Anoobas, Anakin felt a terrible shift in the Force. He faltered. The last time he'd felt a shift that drastic was on-
No. Not again. Heart pounding, Anakin reached out blindly with his senses, bracing himself to be met with a void where his Padawan should be.
He had felt that once. He never wanted to feel that again.
To his relief, he was met with a familiar Force presence, tinged with devastation, but alive. He relaxed, but only slightly. What had caused that shift?
It wasn't until the battle was over that Ahsoka appeared out of the smoke. She was carrying a body, and Anakin's heart sank.
The disturbance in the Force had indeed been the death of a Jedi. Just not the one he'd feared.
Ahsoka didn't take her eyes off of Master Piell. “He died... honourably.”
Anakin hated to ask, but he had to. “What about the information?”
“I have it.” Ahsoka's shoulders were slumped. “He told me just before he died.”
Ahsoka should not have been on this mission in the first place. And now, as one of the two people carrying the Nexus Route coordinates, she was the most important part of it.
Anakin looked away. If Ahsoka hadn't been with them, they would have failed a long time ago.
And he didn't know how to feel about that.
By the time the extraction team got the survivors out, only six of the original rescue team remained- Anakin, Obi-Wan, Rex, Fives, Cody and Ahsoka. They had lost ARC Trooper Echo, Master Evan Piell, and eight other clone troopers to the Citadel.
The Citadel was not a place for Padawans, as he had said to Ahsoka at the beginning of the mission. But wasn't a place for Jedi Masters, either.
Obi-Wan waited until they were back at the Temple to bring it up. “Your Padawan did well, Anakin.”
Anakin sighed. “I'm still not convinced that Master Plo gave her permission to come along.”
“Neither am I,” said Obi-Wan. “But you cannot deny the fact that we would have likely failed the mission without her.”
“I know.” Anakin folded his arms. “But don't tell her that. I don't want her to think sneaking along is always the right thing to do.”
“The next time you face a difficult mission,” Obi-Wan said, “I hope she doesn't have to.”
Anakin didn't reply to that. The mission to the Citadel had opened his eyes to a simple truth that he had forgotten in the wake of Mortis- the war could take any of them, at any time. It did not choose between the young and the old, the experienced and the inexperienced, the Masters and the Padawans. It took who was closest, who was in the way, whoever was convenient.
He was not ready for the war to take Ahsoka. But he couldn't shield her from it either. He could only prepare her.
He dreamed of cold, dead eyes and a lifeless body, though this time it was floating down the sulfer rivers on Lola Sayu. When he woke up, he took a few moments to seek out his Padawan's Force-presence, just to reassure himself.
Ahsoka was alive. There was no immediate danger surrounding her. For the moment, everything was okay.
He joined his Padawan in the dining hall halfway through breakfast. Ahsoka looked up from her datapad as he sat down beside her. “The Republic has finally taken Akaton,” she said in greeting.
“Good,” Anakin replied. “We needed a victory in that sector with the way things have been going out there.”
There was silence after that as they turned back to their breakfast, though Anakin studied Ahsoka out of the corner of his eye as he ate. She had recovered well from the Citadel the week before. The dark circles were gone from her eyes, she had gained back the weight she couldn't afford to lose. Watching her like this, with one hand propped under her chin as she scrolled through the holonet on her datapad, Anakin could almost believe that Mortis was a bad dream.
“Here,” he said, sliding his own datapad down the table. Ahsoka looked up from her breakfast.
“What's this?”
“The briefing for our next mission,” Anakin told her. “Since we had so much fun on Felucia last time, the Council has decided to send us back.”
Crash-landing on the planet and defending a town of farmers from pirates certainly hadn't been boring.
“Fun isn't exactly the word that comes to mind when I think of Felucia,” Ahsoka said dryly.
Anakin put down his cup of caf. “Well, here's our chance to change that.”
“When do we leave?” There was a spark of excitement in her eyes that he hadn't seen in a while.
“At 1200.”
It was 0700 now. She gave him a look “Thanks for the heads up.”
Anakin found himself grinning as he returned to his breakfast.
She had conquered everything thrown at her so far. He had to trust she would continue to do so.

These are some drawings based off of the Ricklaxation episode of Rick and Morty. The first one follows the idea that the Ricks mourn a little differently, if at all, with the absence of Morty. Then the second one is how I imagine Rick felt (crying) in bed waiting for some contact from Morty after he jetpacked/ran away. (Also he may or may not be blowing up Jessica’s phone.)
The title of the second one is “He’s healthier without me”
I really like how the second one came out, even though it’s really messy and I didn’t feel like cleaning it up. The first one I think toxic Rick looks great (if also a little too messy) but I did three different drawings of og Rick and none of them matched or looked nearly as good as toxic Rick. Although I got the facial expression I wanted from him, which I couldn’t quite master in the previous two version I drew for that image.
I used Adobe Illustrator for both.

METROPOL
Tumblr media
- The Ramones - My head is hanging upside down - We Were Promised Jetpacks - Quite little voices - Zen Circus - Viva.
-  CALIFORNIAAAAAAA HERE WE COOOOME.
7 - La chiavetta nello spazio : la band o il musicista di cui la terra non ha proprio bisogno.
- No dai, non siamo così cattivi.

So I finally decided that it was time to probably enchant some labradorite necklaces and put my sigils on them. Veto was urging me to do so, and I agreed that it was probably high time to do so. We both casted a circle, and called upon the Archangels; just to make sure things are gonna go well. Onyx stood watch outside. Veto and I began work to make the necklaces, carving my sigils in them with gold. To ensure that the sigils is charged all the time, I linked them to the unlimited power source that Rick and Gaster made to keep up the barrier around our Wonderland; warning Rick to lower the shield around it for the moment so I could do so. Once the links were established, the necklaces flared in white. I guess that meant they were super charged. We thanked the Archangels for watching over the process, and allowed them to go; feeling a little bad that it was a pretty easy process and they probably had other things to do. They didn't seem to mind and gently encouraged both Veto and I before leaving. It was nice. Onyx and Veto didn't mind to distribute the necklaces to everyone else. Since I couldn't really trust myself to not accidentally affecting Wonderland, because I'm pretty tired, and things get a little unstable when I get this way. They first gave it to themselves, and once it was settled on them, there was a faint aura that wrapped around them and rush of energy. Gold for Onyx and pink for Veto; basically the colors I associate with them. Then they left for Rick, and gave it to him after explaining what had happened and what the necklaces were for. The same sort of thing happened to him as well as Gaster, once he walked into group to check what happened. Veto and Onyx left for Morty and Sansy, and Rick asked Gaster if they should check up on me. Gaster told him not yet, I'm probably fine. Though Rick could sense that I was nearby. He smiled and thanked me for the necklaces, and gave the both of them a quick smooch. Though Gaster got really sneaky and managed to get 2. The two of them began to playfully bicker with one another over it, and I left them be and returned back to being unnoticed. Sort of like a ghost? Or maybe more of a spectator? In any case, Veto and Onyx arrived to Morty's greenhouse and immediately they noticed the bandages on Morty's arm. An injury from their latest adventure. Morty looked nervous about it, but Veto just sighed. She and I saw them sneaking out earlier, it was to be expected. Veto told him that we saw them leave and went ahead to heal up Morty's arm, closing up the wound and fading the scar. Morty looked a little embarrassed, and Veto gave him the necklace, telling him about it and that it was from me. Morty was surprised about the sudden aura, but thanked them. Veto asked where Sansy was, and he directed her to his lab since the ship got banged up pretty bad. Veto gently chided him for getting into that situation, but Morty said that it couldn't be helped. Onyx could see though that Morty wanted to say something, just not in front of Veto. She signaled Veto to go, and she seemed to get the idea and left to go to find Sansy. Onyx gently sat Morty down and asked him what was wrong. Morty reluctantly began to explain that...he doesn't want to be treated as weak, nor anyone see him as such. Especially me. As much as it was really terrible to have experienced nearly dying, he doesn’t want fear to control him. That's why he needed to go out; to adventure again, because he wanted to prove to that no matter comes towards him, no matter how horrible, he'll keep on going. He'll being strong, and continue to be positive despite what happens. Onyx just smiled and said that she doesn’t think of him as weak, or anything like that. Nor does anyone else in our crew. She saw what he can do, and gestures to the gardens. He's more than capable to take care of himself and he's strong. It's just that we're worried, we want him safe. And thanks to the necklace, that'll make sure of it. Onyx goes to explain that she does the same thing. That she goes out everyday, not knowing what enemies she'll fight, but continuing to do so despite the uncertainty and fear. She understands him perfectly. They laugh together, Morty feeling a lot more better. And Onyx left him to his thoughts, going after Veto. Morty made sure to compliment her new form, saying that it suits her. Veto was gently telling off Sansy, before giving him the necklace and again explaining what it was. Sansy smiled and thanked her. And that they'll make sure to tell me when they leave next time. He also complimented Onxy for her new form too, though playfully looking hurt since she deviated from being a skeleton. Onyx playfully teased him back, and at the same time showing him what the necklace did, which was deflect it. Which was probably a bad idea since they were indoors, but Onyx dispersed it before it could hit anything else in the room. Onyx and Veto went to give the necklaces to Dagny and Eras, who were in a bit of a discussion about...jetpacks? Or at rocket boosters. And feeling a little confident that I wasn't going to hurt anyone, I asked to give James his necklace. He was a little busy reorganizing the library, and once I was done explaining and giving him the necklace, I left him to get back to his work. I'm glad the necklaces seem to be working well. Hopefully they'll protect my peeps.
