It seemed Hawkins was going through an intense heat wave. Despite sitting in front of a fan, going to the pool, and heck, even taking a dip in Lover’s Lake could not bring any reprieve from the brutal heat of the sun. Eddie was fully convinced that it was the heat that had the words coming out of his best friend’s mouth.
They had decided to sweat it out in his trailer, clad in the simplest clothes. And as much as he loved his long hair, it was sort of becoming a nuisance. Jensen had offered her braiding skills. He wouldn’t admit it aloud, but the feeling of Jensen parting his hair so gently and the way her fingers scratched his scalp felt really good. The bonus was in this heat wave he won’t have to worry about his hair for a couple of days as well as she works on giving him two French braids.
Eddie knew he got extremely lucky with his friendship with Jensen Thomas.
She had moved to town in January of this year and he had the added advantage of being her neighbor. That also meant he could be on the welcoming committee as well. She had moved in from Indianapolis with her dad.
Jensen was a different breed than all the girls that infested Hawkins. Eddie could admit Hawkins was homogenous. Anything that was a little outside of the normally repressed WASP suit with its nuclear family and a white picket fence was considered the devil’s work. Or “a freak” as they have labeled him along with his Hellfire club.
Jensen had curly brown hair streaked with vibrant pink, purple, and blue strands. Her skin, usually a tawny beige color, which was a vast contrast to his and 99.9% of the population's white skin, stood out. Now, her skin was turning to a brown-red terra cotta or maybe a smooth ochre darkened from the sun. He felt depending on the colors she wore would highlight the deep bronze of her skin. And her deep brown eyes he wanted to plant himself in her deep gazes.
But she was different and beautiful. She made him almost grateful that he had to repeat senior year, especially now with the words that had tumbled out of her mouth, which had him questioning his sanity.
“Cheerleading?” Eddie repeated as the word tasted foul on his tongue. “Of all things, Cheerleading! Just join Hellfire, officially, if you’re bored.”
He had yet been able to convince Jensen to actually join a D&D campaign officially. Despite boasting that he was the best Dungeon Master she could ever have the honor of learning under, it had only rewarded him with a smirk and a pat on the head as she declared she would rather watch than play.
He didn’t need to be looking at her to know she rolled her eyes. “This place has no gymnastic team, Eddie. Rolling dice isn’t exactly going to keep me nice and limber.”
Eddie's heart raced. If she got on the cheerleading team, it meant her possibly leaving the lunch table. She would have to attend those stupid sports games and associate with people who were the bane of his existence. Oh god, what if a jock tried to make a move on her?
Eddie’s head snapped back by Jensen’s grip. He met the somber gaze of Jensen as she pulled him back by his hair.
“Don’t be overdramatic, please.”
He groaned as her full and supple lips formed a pout. He was a goner, and they both knew it.
“No promises.”
Jensen rolled her eyes as she pulled his head back to the position she needed it in as she finished his braids.
Eddie sighed as he felt his world was about to turn upside down.
Eddie felt like the tryouts had come too quickly for his liking. In between his band’s practice and gigs and D&D campaigns, she subjected him to many cheers and dances. He thought at this point he could audition to wave chopped-up plastic bags around. It was with dread that he realized his friend was serious about this endeavor.
And he was going to be a supportive friend. After all, she has come to every Corroded Coffin gig at the Hideout, listened to all his rants on D&D, and she even designed a new Hellfire shirt for this upcoming school year.
It was a no-brainer that he would give her a ride to the tryouts. He ignored the fact he was willingly driving to Hawkins High in the middle of summer, not for school, but he frowned at all the cars that filled the parking lot.
It’s all green, yellow, and hair neat and clean. The total opposite of his green and white dented van, curly hair, and ripped jeans. It was weird that they considered him a cult leader.
“You can stay in the van.”
Eddie whipped his head over to look at Jensen, who was eying him apprehensively. He gave her a soft smile. “Just give me a minute.”
Jensen didn’t question him. She only nodded her head as she hopped out of the van. She looked back at him and he gave her a wave that seemed to settle something in her. Eddie rested his head against the steering wheel. Christ, he was 19, and he was on the verge of insanity because his friend wanted to be a cheerleader.
Eddie sighed as he stepped out of the driver’s seat and grabbed his pack of cigarettes. The nicotine flooding his system made him happy. He debated on if he should stay in his van, but he knew he wouldn’t. He would suffer in watching them wave plastic bags around as his brain matter leaked out of his ears.
He finished his cigarette quickly and flicked it out of his fingers tips since Jensen wasn’t here to scold him for littering.
He leisurely made his trek to the track field where there was a group of girls in their athletic best waiting to try out. He made his way to the bleachers, and he froze as his boots hitting the metal made a loud bang, causing all eyes to fly towards him.
He looked at the group of girls glaring at him for interrupting whatever speech was being said. Except there was a pair of deep eyes that reminded him of syrup looking at him and he was drowning as he watched a smile bloom across her face.
Eddie watched impressed as Jensen worked through the tryouts and all the challenges those girls were throwing at her. He was like a proud mom as he mouthed the routine with her and did small mimicking movements of the familiar Hawkins cheers he heard for the past five years. Yet, when she did her freestyle, he didn’t care about the attention he drew himself as he cheered and clapped loudly for Jensen.
“Hey, Freak!”
Eddie eyed Jason Carver and his bandit of idiots standing at the bottom of the bleachers.
His eyes caught Jensen’s, who had her bottom lip trapped between her teeth. He threw her a quick smirk as he gave Jason a blinding smile.
“Who have I pissed off to earn the displeasure of your company?” Eddie replied from his place. His eyes gleamed as Jason’s chest puffed underneath his Hawkins gray t-shirt.
“What are you even doing here?”
Eddie eyed the boy. “Minding my business.” Eddie plopped back down on the metal bench. “Is there a purpose you’re over here because I’ll have you know I charge by the hour?” Eddie threw in a wink for good measure and watched as Jason’s face turned an interesting shade of red.
Jason and his cronies left him alone, and Eddie turned his attention back to Jensen. Her eyes were full of questions. He rewarded her with some devil horns with his fingers and stuck his tongue out. He could hear her laughter from the bench.
Jensen was bursting with energy as the tryouts were over. Eddie watched as she practically skipped to the car. “You want some burgers?”
“Well, if you are offering,” Jensen replied with that sweet smile of hers. “Eddie Munson, my personal sugar daddy.”
Eddie snorted. “Maybe we will have to put those cheerleading skills to use then.”
“People do have fetishes for girls wearing the cheerleading skirt.” Jensen stood in front of his van and posed like a pin-up girl. “How much do you think I could make in an hour?”
Eddie paused as he eyed Jensen’s frame. She wasn’t stick thin like most of the girls. She had curves and his favorite features were her ass and thighs. Jesus, Eddie needed to get a grip. Her thighs were exposed in that stupid skirt were about to be his most beautiful nightmare. After all, when did he develop those feelings for Jensen?
Jensen made the squad, which wasn’t surprising to Eddie. He thought the squad would have been stupid to not have her. Yet, now her free time was taken up by cheerleading and their stupid fundraising. He was sure that if he didn’t live next door to her, he wouldn’t see her as much. Maybe he was being a tad dramatic, considering he was in a band and played D&D. He was just used to Jensen tagging along and being there.
It was Monday afternoon and the boys just got done practicing their gig for Tuesday night at the Hideout. With Jensen going to be gone for most of the day, he had offered to take them to get burgers and then go rent a movie.
They were passing downtown when they came across a display of balloons and a wet street. Eddie frowned as he looked at the gaggle of girls in their bright, colorful swimsuits.
“Holy shit! Is that Jensen!” Gareth exclaims with his face practically plastered to the window.
Eddie’s foot pressed on the brake and had his van screeching as he caught Jensen in her two-piece that was black with multi-colored frogs on it. He was at least thankful that she was wearing a pair of jean shorts. Yet, he didn’t know she even owed a pair of daisy dukes.
Jensen had her hair in two French braids similar to the style she gave him weeks before. She was laughing at something Chrissy said. Her skin was wet and glistening. Either way, he didn’t know why he felt her swimming suit was more scandalous and dangerous to his libido when they both jumped into Lover’s Lake only in their underwear.
Eddie smacked the back of Gareth and Jeff's heads. “Avert your eyes.”
“Come on, man, it ain’t like we are the only one looking,” Gareth replied as he rubbed his head.
“Besides, have you to admit that Jensen is hot as fuck?” Jeff added.
“Whoa!” Eddie yelled as he glared at his two friends. “Way out of line.”
Gareth snorted. “Just because we are all friends. We aren’t blind, Eddie. I think the only reason people haven’t tried anything is because of you. But if she is now a cheerleader…”
“Now what,” Eddie pressed.
“...its like open season with those jocks,” Gareth answered.
Eddie shook his head. Jensen wasn’t like that. She wouldn’t date the likes of Jason Carver and his band of idiots. She wouldn’t replace him with them.
Eddie turned his gaze back to the burning asphalt and soapy cars.
It convinced Eddie that cheerleading was the real cult.
“You’re not even listening to me.”
Eddie’s brown eyes bore into Jensen’s, who was lounging across his bed. They both had nothing to do for the day for once. They had the trailer to themselves. He was moving between plotting a new D&D campaign and plucking the strings on his guitars. She was flipping through a magazine, which was new for her. And from the quick flash he saw of it, it looked to be Cosmo.
“What?” He said gruffly as his fingers tapped against his D&D binder.
“Wayne said you’ve been moody for the past few weeks.”
“What?”
“Edward.”
“When you even talk to Wayne?”
“Today. I see him as much as you see him, Eddie.”
“Hmm,” Eddie replied.
He didn’t see it coming when his binder was snatched from his lap.
“Hey!” He shouted as she placed the binder underneath her. Eddie immediately lunged after her, but her knees come up. He grabbed her ankles and yanked her down.
“Ahh!”
He smiled as the binder was visible. However, he underestimated she was a gymnast as her legs wrapped themselves tightly around his waist. He made an oomph sound as he toppled over. He caught himself with his forearms and he peered down at her.
“What is up with you?” She asked.
“Nothing.”
“Edward.”
“I’m being serious, nothing,” he reiterated.
“And I’m the Queen of England,” Jensen retorted.
Eddie rolled his eyes, and he looked down at Jensen, who still had a vice grip on him with her legs. “You know, the last time a girl had me like this, my bed got lovely decorations.”
“Ugh, gross Eddie.”
Eddie cackled as she released him and he plopped down on the bed beside her, causing her to jiggle a bit.
Jensen turned, so she was on her side as she peered at him. “We need to go school shopping.”
Eddie made a disgusted face that caused Jensen to laugh. She moved over so her chin was resting on his chest. “You are going to graduate this year, Eddie.”
“You still sitting at the table?”
“What in the hell type of question is that?” Jensen asked, offended. “Of course I am.” Jensen sat up and ruffled his hair, causing him to slap her hands away. “Don’t be silly, Eds.”
She leaned over and grabbed the magazine she was looking at. She threw it on his chest and he realized it wasn’t Cosmo she was looking at, but the local ads.
“What color bookbag do you want this year?”
He didn’t know what it was about this moment as he looked at Jensen and watched as she grabbed his guitar. Her fingers played a very choppy rendition of “Cherry Bomb” that should embarrass them both, considering how many times he had tried to teach her the basics.
He watched as she mimicked the stage presence of Joan Jett and gave him a blinding smile.
Damn, he had a crush on his best friend.
Jensen had only been half-serious when she told Eddie about trying out for cheerleading. It had surprised her he didn’t insist he needed to perform an exorcism right then and there. She was serious when she told him she needed some physical activity. She missed the routine of gymnastics. God, she missed having sore muscles and the stupid leotards.
Jensen longed for the camaraderie between her and her teammates. Then she felt guilty, as Eddie was her best friend and he more than made up for the things she missed. He had easily welcomed her to the fold. He had been the best welcoming committee anyone could have asked her. It was a shame and pity how people in town treated him.
It baffled her that Eddie was considered scandalous for liking heavy metal and D&D when it was normal and accepted in the more urban areas of states. Still, Eddie was the bright spot in her life and she hoped to never lose his friendship.
She knew he was having a hard time with her being a cheerleader now. She wished she could say that it was utterly miserable. Yet, it wasn’t. The girls said nothing to her face nasty. She was under no illusion that they never said anything bad about Eddie or her. They were nice to her face, especially since she brought skill to their routine. Still, just being a cheerleader brought her teetering on the edge of moving up on the social ladder that she and Eddie both despised.
Yet, she was surprised she had convinced him to come to a sports game. As a cheerleader, it was mandated to cheer for both the football and basketball teams. Football in the fall and basketball in the spring.
Jensen was nervous. Her fingers gripped the edge of her green skirt. She turned into the mirror and admired her body. Luckily the Spanx provided the coverage she needed not to flash everyone. She grabbed her pompoms and found Eddie and her dad talking.
The two immediately stop talking. A weird feeling settled in her tummy as Eddie's eyes do a once-over and linger on her legs before they snapped to her face when her dad coughed.
A fire burned in Eddie's cheek that stayed the rest of the night.
"I don't get it," Eddie muttered as they pulled out of the school's parking lot.
"I think they could say the same for people who play D&D, Eds," Jensen added as she buckled herself in. It had surprised her to find that Eddie stayed sat on the bleachers and didn't escape to smoke a joint at his selling point.
She watched as he sat on the bleacher chewing his thumbs and hair. He seemed to pay attention to the game, which garner his confusion about how people were investing in people cheering for someone to run across a field.
"Thanks for coming, Eddie."
Eddie peered at her through his growing bangs. "You don't have to thank me. You know I need to support my girl."
Her cheeks warmed at his words. The smile was instant on her lips. She leaned over and planted a quick kiss on his cheek.
The van served a bit and his brown eyes were as wide as he eyed her. "What was that for?"
Jensen shrugged her shoulders. "Just cuz."
Affection between them wasn’t uncommon. She was used to Eddie wrapping her in tight hugs. He loved squeezing her cheeks, making her lips pucker. If they were lounging on the couch since she had curly hair, he couldn’t exactly run his fingers through it. He would run his fingertips along her hairline.
She was the type to lie on top of him if he was lounging on his stomach. She loved playing with his hands, twisting the rings on his fingers that decorated them. If he was seated, she had no problem wrapping herself around his shoulders or across his lap.
Yet, kisses were rare. Eddie would playfully kiss her hand and that was usually it.
Now, though, she wondered what it would feel like to kiss Eddie. If he liked to tease and nibble on lips. The taste of him in her mouth. Most likely, there would be the lingering taste of beer. Nicotine would stain his tongue. If he would kiss her, would it be as if he was starving for breath for her? Or would he tame the urge to be consumed by her - them?
But Eddie was her best friend. She knew there was no use in having thoughts like that.
Thankfully, cheerleading didn’t alter their schedule too much with school. Jensen relied on Eddie for rides, so she was thankful that any games or practice coincided with his Hellfire schedule. Although she forgot how seriously Eddie took his campaigns and they could go on for hours. She knew he was waiting to crush the spirits of the poor freshmen that had joined Hellfire. Not one to cause a disturbance and have all eyes on her if she walked into Hellfire, she waited in Eddie’s van. She bid bye to the girls and reassured Chrissy she was fine in waiting. After all, she preferred not to have to sit in a car with Jason Carver.
Thankfully, Eddie had cleaned his van out and she smirked at the air fresheners haphazardly hung in the van. She had been bitching for weeks. His van was like a dirty locker room. She got comfortable in the passenger seat and thought maybe she could try to sleep. A quick nap would do her good, as she knew Eddie would have a burst of adrenaline after a session if it went as well as he planned.
She didn’t realize she had fallen asleep until the sharp jolt of the van had her bolting upright.
“You little shit!” Eddie barked as he glared at his back seats.
Jensen blinked and wiped her eyes. She looked at Eddie, confused. “What’s going on?”
He gave her a remorseful smile. “Sorry, babe, promised to give the kiddos a ride.”
Jensen fixed her seat and turned to stare at Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, and Mike Wheeler. The only one missing was Will Byers. She assumed Jonathon had picked him up. She found the boys sweet. There was some serious hero worship going on with Dustin and Eddie. As much as Eddie acted indifferent towards it, she knew he was loving it and that someone seemed to admire and respect him.
Jensen loved all the boys. However, her favorite was Will. She wouldn’t admit it aloud as she didn’t want to cause any tension between the boys.
“Hi, Jen,” Dustin and Lucas greeted.
“Sorry, Jen,” Mike said with a grimace. He must have been the culprit in slamming the door. She turned to find Eddie glaring daggers at the raven-haired boy. She rolled her eyes at Eddie.
“Hi, boys. How was the session?”
She almost regretted the question as it seemed a firework shot off as the three began speaking at once. Excitement was clear in their tones as they regale the torture Eddie put them through. From the corner of her eyes, she could see Eddie smiling. Yet, seeing their excitement despite the school’s whispers about them being a cult, made her feel proud of Eddie - for Eddie.
Jensen waved bye to Dustin as he stood at his door before going in. She noticed that each parent (mother) of the boys’ were eagerly waiting for their return and couldn’t thank Eddie enough for dropping them off home.
Who knew Eddie was a hit with suburban moms?
“It’s sweet you do this?” Jensen said as they pulled away from Dustin’s street.
Eddie shrugged. “It’s no biggie. Have to care for all my little sheep.”
“Just a regular Bo Peep,” Jensen teased.
Eddie smiled. “How was practice?”
Jensen sighed. "Brutal!"
Jensen didn't know why the girls were stressing about their simple routines. It wasn't as if they were a team that tried out for competitions. The Hawkins Tigers cheerleading squad was small fries. They weren't even a ripple in a whirlpool.
"I just want to lay in bed and be a zombie."
"What's hurting?"
"My calves lately."
"So another night of ice and a massage?"
"Eddie, you don't have to sacrifice your Friday for me." She knew he couldn't really want to have another night with her legs packed with ice while he kneaded the taut muscles of her shoulders and arm.
"Pssh, nonsense," Eddie said. "It's no problem."
Jensen smiled.
"You want McDonald's?" Eddie offered.
"Yes, please."
Eddie thought he could handle it. He was used to things being said about him and his friends. People were always talking about his clothes, hair, shoes, and whatever else they found wrong with him on a certain day.
It was another thing to bear witness to the words the boys of Hawkins were saying about Jensen. Things that made his ears burn and want to go on a rampage.
However, his limit had reached its peak as he watched his new little sheep's eye Jensen in that ridiculously short cheerleading skirt at lunch. It turned his pretzels into pellets as he threw them at the three teenagers, who from his knowledge, had girlfriends. They had been lingering a little too long.
It also didn't make any goddamn sense why people were appreciating Jensen in a skirt when her ass looked better in jeans.
The math wasn't making any fucking sense and he would know it since math was the only class he passed with barely any effort.
He knew for the next D&D session; it was going to be extra torturous for those boys.
Eddie groaned as he eyed Jensen rummaging through his fridge. He had a clear shot of said ass as she was bent over. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at the excuse of shorts she was wearing and she was wearing a thong or no underwear.
He smacked a hand to his face as this knowledge he could do without.
"You okay over there?"
Eddie groaned again, as he couldn't exactly tell her about the naughty thoughts he was having. He shook his head as he couldn't think of a convincing fib to tell her.
Eddie felt the cushion sink on the other end of the couch. He looked at her through his bangs as she eyed him with concern. He leaned forward with a decorative pillow, which he was sure she bought it and laid on her lap.
"Eddie?"
The weary metal head shook his head, as he didn't want to talk about it. He didn't know how to verbalize that he hated how other boys were looking at her. He cursed those stupid cheerleading uniforms that fit her body a little too well. Or worse, the fact he couldn't do a damn thing about anything. He was her friend. Not her boyfriend. He had no claim to her.
"Can you play with my hair?" He asked.
"Yeah," she muttered as her nails began scratching his scalp. He felt a shiver travel down his back and goosebumps pucker against his skin.
"You gonna tell me what's wrong?" Jensen probed.
"I don't think I can explain it,” he answered. What could he say without laying his feelings on the line and risk their friendship? He didn’t want to make things awkward. The repeat senior had little experience with girls and had never been in a relationship. So it shocked him he even befriended Jensen and maintain the relationship.
“Can you try?” She questioned gently as she massaged his scalp.
Eddie sighed and turned to lie fully on his back. Jensen’s hands move his hair away from his face and she trails his hairline.
“If you didn’t want to be here, you don’t have to. I know you made some new friends with the cheerleaders.”
Jensen frowned. “What gives you the impression I don’t want to be here?”
“I heard Philip Hayes was going to ask you out,” Eddie told her. Phillip was on the swim team. The aquatic athlete had been eyeing Jensen even before she slipped on that cheerleading uniform. He knew the tall, wiry boy had a major crush on Jensen. He remembered vividly how the boy stammered and stuttered when they worked on a group project. It was the worst three weeks of his life.
“He did,” Jensen told him a matter-of-factly.
“What! When?” Eddie asked, scandalized. “What did you say!”
“No, clearly. And he asked me on Thursday.”
“Why did you say no?”
“Because I don’t like him.”
“You don’t?”
“No. Besides, if I even got a boyfriend, I wouldn’t ditch you, Eddie.”
Eddie wanted to believe her words, but he knew things changed. There wouldn’t be room for him in her world and he wouldn’t want to be a third wheel.
“And you’re going on about me getting a boyfriend. What happens when you get a girlfriend, huh?”
“That will never happen,” he protested. “You’re the only girl in my life, sweetheart.”
“You tell your guitar that?”
Eddie rolled his eyes. “Shut up.”
Jensen giggled, and she went back to the light feather tip touches on his forehead.
"By the way, can we order pizza? You have fuck all in your fridge."
Eddie snorted. "Sure, sweetheart."
Eddie didn’t know why he agreed to come to this stupid party. The long-haired metal head was sure it had nothing to do with Jensen’s pouty lips, the way she was batting her eyelashes, and the way her ass jiggled in her tight jeans. He knew she had been ducking most of the party invitations, but curiosity got to someone at a certain point. He knew that all too well.
The party wasn’t a total bust. As Hawkins go to drug dealer, he was able to sell out his stash pretty quickly. He may buy some new amps, or he was eying this nice easel for Jensen to get her for Christmas.
Yet, after an hour or two, he was ready to leave. Jensen had stayed by his side as people approached for deals. Yet, after the 5th person interrupted them, she had left his side, and he hadn’t seen her sense. He ignored most of the offers of playing beer pong, darts, or trying to chug a keg. His mission was to find Jensen and to see if she had her fun yet. He necessarily didn’t want to be a party pooper, but this was not exactly his scene.
These people were only tolerating him now because of the drugs and alcohol in their system having them fuzzy. It would only take one person to sober up a bit or be a mean drunk to target any of their teenage frustration out on him. He didn’t want Jensen in that line of fire.
He thought she would be with Chrissy since, from what he gathered, they talked the most among the girls. However, she said that it was still a stilted friendship as Chrissy still allowed Jason to talk shit on him. He found Chrissy was sucking Jason’s tongue. He vomited a little at that sight. He groaned before he went deeper into the house and eventually walked down some steps to a furnished basement.
He felt his stomach drop as he found Jensen with Philip Hayes. They were standing too close to his comfort, and he saw red as Philip’s hand was on Jensen’s waist a little too close to the top of her ass.
He didn’t care if he bumped into people as he moved toward Jensen. He felt his irritation skyrocket even further as there was a red solo cup in her hand. Jensen didn’t even like beer or alcohol of any sort.
“Jensen.”
Jensen jumped while Philip looked at him with annoyance. Jensen placed the red solo cup, which was full on the counter. She looked at him sheepishly.
“You ready to go?” He asked her.
She didn’t get to answer as Philip puffed out his chest. “Dude, you ain’t her fucking boyfriend.” Eddie could smell the alcohol and weed on the man’s breath.
Eddie sighed in frustration. “Jen.”
Jensen nodded as she moved out of Philip’s hold. The man scoffed. “Whatever, you teasing bitch. Have fun with your freak.”
Eddie went to attack, but Jensen intercepted. Her arms wrapped around him, making them chest to chest. “Eddie, it’s not worth it.”
Eddie shook his head. He turned and led the two of them out of the party into his van. Maybe he slammed the door a little too hard. But he was pissed. Pissed he let some stupid boy get him so riled up. Pissed that Jensen allowed the dude to have his hands over her. He should have never agreed to go to this stupid party. Worst of all, he knew what would have happened between her and Philip if he wasn’t there to interrupt.
“I thought you didn’t like him?” He asked, breaking the silence. There was no music playing in his van for once.
“I don’t.”
“Then what the fuck was that back there?” he asked voice filled with venom.
“It was nothing, Eddie.” She was dismissive, as if his eyes couldn’t see that she wasn’t doing anything to dissuade the man’s flirting.
Eddie snorted. “So his hand on your ass was nothing.”
“His hand was not on my ass!” Jensen shrieked.
“Pretty damn close, princess!”
He patted his pockets for a cigarette. It made him even angrier when he couldn’t find them. “Grab me a smoke.” He pointed towards the glove box.
“You’re unbelievable,” Jensen remarked as she opened the glove box and rummaged through it.
“I’m unbelievable,” Eddie said mockingly. “Well, sweetie, I think you are full of shit when you’re telling me you don’t like him, and next thing I know, it seems you two are Ren and Ariel.”
“One, I fucking hate that movie and you know it! But I just told you it was nothing. I don’t like him. And he only started talking to me right before you approached me.”
“And you just let everyone put your hands on you these days, huh?” Eddie knew he crossed a line as it seemed it sucked all the air out of the van.
“What the fuck did you just say to me?” Jensen asked, but he knew she wasn’t really asking. She released a humorless chuckle. “You have no right to act like a jealous boyfriend. You can’t be pissed at other boys for showing a goddamn interest in me.”
“Philip just wants to fuck you,” Eddie said bluntly. He could write a novel about how many people wanted to sleep with her.
“Oh, like you don’t,” Jensen replied with bitterness.
Eddie sucked in a deep breath. Her words stung. The fight left him a bit. “This - I…I’m just looking out for you.”
“Well, newsflash, I don’t need you to.”
“If you wanted to stay talking to Philip, you could’ve. You didn’t need to follow me out of the party. Don’t me have holding you back from doing something stupid..”
“Whatever,” Jensen said. She found the pack of cigarettes and threw it at him.
“Hey!” He shouted as it smacked him in the face. “What the fuck was that for!”
“Because you’re an asshole!” Jensen screamed. “Just stop the car.”
“What?”
“Stop the fucking car!”
Eddie swerved over and parked the car. “Jesus Christ, what the hell is your problem?”
He was unprepared for the loud sob to take over the van. His cigarette was forgotten as Jensen hid her face in her hands.
“Shit,” he said with remorse. “Jen,” he reached out to touch her shoulder, but she recoiled.
She unclipped her seatbelt and reached for the handle. “What are you doing?” He asked, worried.
“I don’t want to be in the car with you.”
“Jen, seriously, it’s in the middle of the night. You going to walk home?”
“If it gets me away from you, yes!” She opened the door and slid out.
“Jensen!” He yelled. He watched horrified as she began making the trek towards their trailers, which was still ways to go. He got out of the driver’s seat.
“I will leave your ass!”
“It’s what I want you to do!” She screamed into the night.
“Jensen, seriously!” As she picked up her pace, he yelled at her. She continued walking down the road and ignored him.
He swore as she cut into the woods, effectively cutting his view of her. He stood in front of his van and chewed on his thumbnail. She had no flashlight to guide her, only the moon and on foot, it would take her like 20 minutes to get to their place.
This was not how he expected his night to go at all.
Jensen walked the rest of the way home. He trailed the edge of the woods slowly. Ignoring the beeps of various car horns. He got home before her and he stayed perched on his tiny porch until she broke through the wood’s edge.
She promptly ignored him and slammed her door in his face as she entered her own trailer. He knew it was best to give her space for the rest of the weekend. He knew he was an asshole for what happened. Eddie could have expressed his frustrations in a better -healthier way. Though that wasn’t the Munson way, he wasn’t like his uncle, who spoke in few words. Eddie, unfortunately, inherited his father’s mouth with dealing with emotions. He twisted words to make them hurt because he couldn’t outright say what was going on in his head.
Thankfully, everyone left him alone for the weekend. His uncle when coming home from his shift to crash, didn’t even ask about his and Jensen’s plans. The super senior was left strumming his acoustic guitar, and he was not watching through his window for any activity in the Thomas’ household.
Eddie knew that an apology would not be simply enough. He was going to have to get on his knees and grovel. There was a twinge of optimism that this could be a segue to him admitting his feelings for her. He could take the rejection. It would suck, but it would give the reason for his behavior. It wouldn’t excuse it but clear the air.
But on Monday morning, Jensen wasn’t waiting for him by his van berating him for being a sleepyhead. He knew his best friend must have been pissed to take the bus. They shared a locker at school and his heart dropped to his stomach as all her morning books were gone. They didn’t share classes, so it wouldn’t be until lunch they would see each other.
He barely paid attention in his morning classes as he fiddled with his rings, chewed on his nails, and couldn’t stop his leg from shaking. Multiple teachers scolded him for the distraction. He hoped she would be at least receptive to going to his picnic table in the woods to get some privacy and talk.
That hope swirled in the drain where her seat at their table was left empty. All eyes were on them as she sat with the cheerleaders for the first time. To add insult to injury, Philip was sitting right next to her.
“Uhh, what’s going on?” Dustin asked. His hair wasn’t tamed by gel today and whipped back and forth from teen’s movements. The curls out and loose. Eddie suspected Jensen had something to do with that.
Eddie would not admit any problems or cracks in his relationship with Jensen. He would divulge as little as possible. He opened his small baggie of pretzels. “Nothing for any of you to worry about.” He warned. His face was serious and no further questions are asked about him and Jensen.
She wasn’t there waiting next to his van. In fact, he bore witness to Chrissy giving her a ride.
On Tuesday, he didn’t know what to expect. It scared him to approach her, and she seemed fine in ignoring his existence. The worse thing was her missing her first ever Corroded Coffin gig that night.
Jensen did not mean for the silent treatment to go on for as long as it did. She did stew for the entire weekend over Eddie’s words. The mere insinuation that she was just going to let anyone touch her had her even temper skyrocket. It was one thing for random nobodies to talk shit on her and what she may or may not be doing with Eddie, but to hear Eddie say that to her even in anger, it hurt her.
She couldn’t believe her friend would do that to her. She knew he didn’t mean it, but it didn’t change the fact that they said it. Multiple times she wanted to march over his trailer and give him a piece of her mind. Or really get down to what the hell crawled up his ass? Better yet, for him to finally admit his feelings. It wasn’t fair for him to act like a jealous boyfriend, but do nothing about it.
The only positive thing about her week was getting to know Chrissy a bit better. Chrissy was nice and sweet. It was a shame that she was dating her bubble butt boyfriend, Jason Carver. It was the one thing she couldn’t really get past with Chrissy. She wanted to really consider Chrissy a friend, but she couldn’t ignore the fact Chrissy was a bystander to the bullying he did to Eddie and everyone associated with the Hellfire club.
It was the one thing she felt guilty about with being a cheerleader was she was mingling with people that was nasty to her best friend.
It was becoming a mess of feelings and she didn’t know what to do, or even why she thought it was a good idea to go to another party. This time without Eddie. Worse, it was at Benny’s old restaurant lot that Jason Carver and his band of idiots called home.
As soon as she arrived on the dingy graffiti lot, she had been ready to go home. The smell of the weed that permeated the place was enough to give anyone contact. There were liters of alcohol filling tables. She hated the taste of alcohol. She would share the occasional joint with Eddie. But alcohol was something she did not like the taste of. It did nothing for her. Yet, she was feeling miserable and the jungle juice tasted like pineapples.
“Hey, I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened. I didn’t think she drank that much,” Chrissy apologized, as Eddie carried a clearly intoxicated Jensen to his van.
Eddie wasn’t sure what to think when his phone rung in his trailer and Chrissy Cunningham informed him that Jensen needed to be picked up. Concern had him rushing for his shoes and keys. Yet, as he arrived at Benny’s abandoned place and saw that Chrissy was nice enough to be ready outside. He wouldn’t have to work through sweaty bodies to reach her.
“Thanks for calling me,” he told Chrissy as he buckled Jensen in. She was strangely quiet. As she looked at him, he knew she was awake. He couldn’t tell if she was sad or confused. He guessed he could rule out her being some talkative drunk.
He closed the passenger door and looked at the strawberry blonde. “Do you need a ride?” He offered.
She shook her head and smiled. “No, I’m here with Jason. Could you just have her call me tomorrow?”
“Yeah, sure thing,” he told her. Chrissy walked back to the party as he slid into the driver’s seat. He turned on the ignition and pulled out the lot. Fleetwood Mac was playing softly in the background.
He wasn’t sure what to say or if he had anything to say.
Jensen hiccuped. “You’re mad at me?”
Eddie gripped the steering wheel. He was mad. It was one thing to go to a party, but the fact she got drunk that Chrissy had to call him because she was worried she overdid it left him pissed. To make matters worse, she was still in that stupid cheerleading uniform.
“Yes, I am,” he admitted. She got drunk around unfamiliar people when it wasn’t in her normal to be drinking. It didn’t help that this was how they were talking to each other after a week of silence.
She didn’t reply and her gaze stayed looking at the passing scenery. For once, Eddie was okay with the silence.
He pulled into his parking space. He expected he would walk a shaky Jensen back to her house. The following morning, Eddie would walk into her trailer and give her the riot act as he knew she would have a killer hangover.
Instead, the intoxicate cheerleader stumbled out of his van. Her feet shuffled to his door. His brown eyebrow quirked, and he decided he would not question it. He unlocked his front door and opened it for her.
“Let me get you some water,” he told her as she breezed by him. He could still smell the scent of vanilla that clung to her skin. She stood by his counter top as he grabbed her a cup and filled it with tap water.
He ignored the wrinkle of her nose. Now wasn’t the time for her to act like a princess. She took the cold water and sipped it tentatively. His eyes never left her frame. He could tell it was making her nervous as she squirmed from where she stood.
“I’m sorry,” she told him as she bit her bottom lip.
He nodded his head to acknowledge the apology. “You feel sick?”
She shook her head as she set down the empty cup. “Come on, I’m tired.”
It was normal for them to have sleepovers despite being neighbors. Somehow, they were at his more than hers. Still, she had a space in his drawers, which were shrunken shirts and pants that literally did not fit anymore. He passed her a set so she could take in the bathroom to brush her teeth and change.
He quickly stripped down to a pair of shorts. Despite the nights becoming cooler, Eddie slept hot. He placed his hair in a bun atop of his head while he waited for Jensen to come out of the bathroom. She shuffled in quietly with her cheerleading outfit folded, which she placed neatly on his desk. He made his way to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
He turned off all the lights except for the small lamp for his uncle in the living room. Entering his bedroom, Jensen was already tucked underneath the covers. He turned off the lights as he slid into his spot.
It was awkward. They had never been in this type of situation before.
“I don’t like that you’re mad at me,” Jensen whispered in the night.
“But you can be mad at me? He countered with more venom than he intended.
He felt her shift and move closer to him. He was going to mean and stay still, but he was weak for Jensen. Eddie moved his arm so she could move to his side and he wrapped his arm around her.
“Can we admit we were both sucky?” Her breath fanned across his neck, causing goosebumps to erupt.
“Maybe,” he conceded.
“Eddie.”
“Baby, you’re drunk and we are not having this conversation,” he told her. He felt her open her mouth to hurl a rebuttal. His hand covered her mouth. “And don’t say you're not drunk because I know you are and your shirt is on backwards.”
She exhaled a harsh, defeated breath. He chuckled. “It’s bedtime, sweetheart. We can talk in the morning.
He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Night, sweetheart.”
Eddie felt he was getting the best sleep of his life. His bed felt like a giant cloud and he didn’t want to leave the dreamland. However, he felt a very plush piece of flesh meet with a very sensitive area of his anatomy that startled him awake.
He and Jensen were spooning. She was a little spoon, and he was the big spoon. He had Jensen wrapped tightly in his arms with her back to his front. She made another movement, and it caused him to hiss as he was already straining because of morning wood. He went to move his arms, but Jensen’s soft hands gripped his forearm.
“Where are you going?” She mumbled sleepily.
“Got a situation,” he told her. He thought she would release her grip on him. Instead, she turned to face him, her brown eyes peering at him. They weren’t hazy with sleep and he suspected her movements weren’t just sleep induced.
“Would that be so bad?”
Eddie shook his head. “You don’t know what you’re saying.”
“So you’re telling me it wasn’t jealousy that had you all pissy that Philip’s hand was on my ass?”
Eddie glared at her. “Was he at that party last night?”
Jensen scrunched her nose. “I don’t know. I told you I didn’t like him. So why does it even matter?”
“What was that even last night?” He asked her seriously.
She ducked her head, clearly embarrassed.
He placed his hand under her chin. “None of that. You gave me a heart attack with Chrissy calling like that. Tempted to smack your ass for that bullshit.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
Eddie shook his head as he moved out of the bed. “Jensen, this isn’t time for your fucking teasing. I’m being serious. Something could have happened to you last night.”
Jensen followed him. He wasn’t able to get far as her arms latched around his waist. He was sitting on the edge while she wrapped around him like an octopus.
“Eddie, I’m sorry!” She pressed her face against his back.
He sighed in defeat. She opened her legs, so he slotted between them. His hand came down onto her thigh. He squeezed the meaty flesh. “I’m sorry for what I said at that party.”
“But why did you do it, Eddie?”
Her voice was low and breathy. It made him shiver, especially as she began rubbing circles on his lower abdomen. However, he froze once her fingers teased the edge of his shorts.
“Jen, what are you doing?”
She didn’t reply as one hand dipped underneath his shorts.
“Do you want me to stop?”
He shook his head. His breath was caught in his throat as Jensen pulled him gently out of his boxers and shorts. She scooted closer to him and one hand disappeared for a quick second before she gripped him gently and begin moving her hand up and down. He moaned as he felt the lubrication from her spit.
“Shit, Jen, I …” He stuttered as his pre-cum provided more lubrication.
And she was using both hands to jerk him off. His grip on her thighs became tight when she would pay extra attention to his tip. He was swollen and red. Sticky against her hands. Eddie was only familiar with his own calloused hands. Having Jensen and her smooth hands gripping him, he knew he would not last very long.
He imagined how her tits looked, and how brown her nipples were. He wanted to know how Jensen moaned if he sucked on her nipples. How easily she would accept his fingers in her mouth or her pussy. He wanted to paint her skin with his spunk.
“Fuck, Jen, I ain’t going to last,” he told her as he bit his lip to hide his whimper.
“Do it, Eddie,” Jensen whispered as she bit the lobe of his ear. “It’s okay, come.”
He pinched his eyes shut and gasped. His orgasm hit him all at once. Praises and curses fell from his lips as he trembled. Her hand was still moving, covered in his release, when he gripped her wrist.
“Sensitive,” he told her and she released him gently. Her hand was covered in his release and he knew that image was going to be enough for the spank bank for a while.
“Let me get you something to clean that,” he told her. He moved from her legs to grab a towel. However, he froze when he watched her take an experimental lick.
“Fuck, Jen, don’t do that!”
She looked at him with hooded eyes. “It doesn’t taste awful.”
“You do this before?”
“Are you going to throw a fit?” She questioned.
Eddie huffed as he approached and wiped her hand. “I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re here now.”
“No, I haven’t done that before. I haven’t done anything before.”
“You’re shitting me?”
“Nope,” she replied, popping her p.
Eddie pulled her t-shirt off, exposing her bare tits. Jensen gave no resistance even as he pushed her back and chucked off her shorts, revealing a bare glistening pussy.
“Eddie, I never done this before.” She repeated, despite her legs opening wider for him.
“No one is getting fucked today, sweetheart.”
Jensen frowned. “Then what are you doing?”
Eddie leaned back to admire the beauty of Jensen’s body. He kicked his shorts and boxers fully off. He smirked as he grabbed her cheerleading skirt.
“Put this on.”
Eddie watched as she slid the green skirt on. He crawled over her and placed a kiss on her lips. It was gentle - cautious. He couldn’t believe this was the first time he was kissing Jensen. A pool of heat formed in his belly. Her tongue slid in his mouth and he found he didn’t mind the taste of him on her lips. His hand not holding him up over her, caressing her jaw before he met her neck, and he squeezed her throat.
A choked moan passed her lips.
“You like that?”
Jensen opened her eyes. Her cheeks were warm. “Yes.”
Eddie made a mental note to remember that as he hummed. His fingers dipped low before he slid between her dripping folds. “Is this your first time getting wet for me?”
She shook her head as the pads of his fingers rolled over her swollen clit.
“Hmmm, so you’re like this often?”
“Yeah,” she stuttered.
Her words had his cock fattening again and withdrew his fingers and sucked her juices away. As he moved down her body, he pressed wet kisses to her chest, stomach, and legs. He threw her leg over his shoulder. The movement bunched up the skirt, and he relished the sight. At her thighs, he made the kisses slower and left love bites along the journey. He gave the same treatment to the other side before he reached her center.
He read about eating girls out and watched some porn, so hopefully, something stuck.
“Eddie?”
“Yeah, sweetheart?”
“Have you done this before?”
“You’re the first, baby.”
His words made her relax, and he licked a long stripe up her puffy lips. She moaned and bucked, drawing her hips closer to his face. He teased her as he soaked her with spit and ran his tongue up and down.
The fingers of one hand dug into his sheet while the other gripped the pillow behind her. Her skin was flushed and heated.
“Eddie,” she whined. The hand that was on the pillow gripped his messy bun.
Eddie hummed as he sucked on her clit. A cry left Jensen’s lips, and he thought he could happily spend all day between her legs worshipping her. He spent most of his time lapping around her swollen bud. Her heels dug into the mattress, and Eddie grabbed her thighs and pushed them to her chest. The position made her cry out his name, and he thanked god his uncle was working a double and they weren’t at her place.
“Eddie, I think…I think I’m gonna cum,” she sobbed and Eddie swore he was going to come again at her words. He doubled his efforts as he sucked harder. His tongue slipped into her hole while he used his hand to rub her swollen bud He used his other hand to pinch her nipple, which set off her peak.
Her back arched, and she bucked loosely as she pulsated around his tongue. Her mouth was open as she gripped his hair tight, causing him to moan. He cleaned her until she was twitching away from his tongue. He pulled back, and he wished he could have this moment on repeat with how thoroughly fucked Jensen looked in this moment.
She was utterly boneless as he turned her. Pupils blown as she stared at him. The sheen of sweat forming on her skin. He watched as she heaved big breaths; her legs still slighting trembling. “On your knees, sweetheart. I’m gonna fuck your thighs.”
She complied as she grabbed a pillow to rest on. His cock was hard as it bobbed against his stomach. He pushed her cheerleading skirt up some. He let a glob of spit fall down on it to lube it up. “Lock your knees,” he instructed as he placed a flat palm against her butt and stroked it as his other hand guided between her warm, soft thighs.
It felt good - too good. As he pulled out, it hit him with the knowledge that if her thighs felt like this; he was in for a real treat when he got the privilege to fuck her pussy. Eddie groaned before sinking back in. As he fucked between her thighs, he stretched himself over her. He used one hand to tweak her nipples.
“Fuck, Eddie,” she whimpered after a hard tug. He moved his hand back down to her pussy, rubbing her swollen nub again.
She moaned and her legs became tighter, causing him to groan. “Shit.”
“You feel so fucking good, baby,” he whispered as he felt that familiar heat pool in his lower stomach.
The sound of skin slapping echoed through the trailer. Her breast bounced with each thrust and he could tell she was beginning to cum again.
He removed his fingers from her pussy, causing her to whine before he used the material of her skirt like a glove and went back to rubbing her nub, causing her to choke out a moan.
“Shit! Eddie!”
Eddie was overwhelmed, and the tightness of her thighs had him bursting at the seams. Long, thick ropes of cum painted her thighs, sheets, and her cheerleading skirt.
“Holy fuck,” Eddie whispered as he stopped spurting. “Don’t move okay.”
Jensen nodded as she panted. His leg felt like jelly as he grabbed the towel from earlier. He wiped at her thighs painted with his cum.
“Hmm, I came all over your skirt,” he pointed out smugly.
Jensen, still sensitive, turned and moved gingerly as to not lay in the jizz covered sheets. He helped her off the bed to pull down the soiled skirt.
“Didn’t know you had a fetish for cheerleading skirts.”
“Just yours,” he replied as he threw her skirt in the pile of clothes.
“You are totally buying me a new one.”
Eddie pulled her naked body into his and pressed a fat kiss to her lips. The kiss said everything that he was sorry, he liked her, wanted her, and a four letter word he wouldn’t say yet. He would at least wait until their first official date.
“So, does this mean you're officially my jealous boyfriend?” Jensen asked when they separated.
