Quote
May all of my kind accept that everything is [empty] like space. They get angry in disputes and delight in celebrations. With feelings of grief, vexation, and despair; with mutually inflicted lacerations and amputations’ because of their evil actions, they lead their lives miserably, longing for their own happiness.
Śāntideva, Bodhicaryāvatāra, Crosby & Skilton tr. (9:154-155)

“It’s the pursuit of these things, and your attempts to avoid them, that leave you in such turmoil. And yet they aren’t seeking you out; you are the one seeking them. Suspend judgment about them. And at once they will lie still, and you will be freed from fleeing and pursuing.” – Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

"…And though you yet resist My words, My Word shall speak and My judgments shall shout. For I have taken to Myself a prophet, and he shall go for Me. He shall prepare My way before Me, even as I have prepared his way before him. He is not holy, nor righteous; he is but a man, a man after My own heart. And though he stumbles as all men and fear grabs hold of him, for he is but flesh, I tell you the truth, I have surely purchased him from among men as part of the special offering.[1] I AM THE LORD.
Therefore, again I say to you, Timothy is My prophet, and through him have I made My plans known. For I do not change. Thus he shall go for Me, and a number like him, and they shall declare My judgments and warn the people. For the Day of The Lord is here, and the Great and Dreadful Day is about to begin, declares The Lord."

Error arises not merely because of ignorance of essential facts, but also because one undertakes to judge without having learned the essential process for the formation of valid judgments. Betrachtung, § 2 (1764)

Lessons from Exodus 4: Separation
Exodus 8.22-23
'But on that day, I will set apart the land of Goshen, where My people are living, so that no swarms of flies will be there, in order that you may know that I, the LORD, am in the midst of the land.  I will put a division between My people and your people….'
We've often talked about the importance of separation from the world, and as we move farther into these last days, separation become essential.
In Egypt, the Hebrews lived in Goshen, an area set aside for them.  God made it very clear that He was creating a division between His people and the Egyptians, and that the plagues that fell on Egypt would not fall on His people in Goshen.
'But on that day, I will set apart the land of Goshen, where my people are living…'  —Exodus 8.22
Today, Christians are scattered throughout the globe, but that is no challenge to our Father, who knows His own.
'My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.'  —John 10.27
God even made a distinction between the livestock of the Egyptians and that of the Israelites.
'But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing will die of all that belongs to the sons of Israel.'  —Exodus 9.4
As we see plagues, pandemics, and violence unfold, it is more important than ever that there be a clear division between God's people and the rest of the world.  Not a physical separation, mind you, but a clear distinction.  People should be able to look at us and know that we are different, that we are citizens of a different kingdom.
Some judgments will necessarily affect us, just as some of the judgments poured out on Egypt affected the Hebrews.  For example, when the Nile was turned to blood, the Egyptians could not drink from it, but neither could the Hebrews.  They would have had to dig holes to filter the water.
Just so, some of today's plagues, judgments, and troubles will necessarily affect us: extreme weather, supply-chain disruptions, power outages, $5.00-per-gallon fuel prices, etc.  But we know that our Father God is able to provide all that we need and to keep us safe and secure through the turmoil.
I found Jonathan Cahn's interpretation of the recent coronavirus pandemic, with its unusual properties, very interesting.  Whereas most diseases are more deadly to the very young, this one was more dangerous to the very old.  He deems it a judgment on the generation that passed the laws clearing the way for abortion on demand, condemning millions of unborn children to death.
'The generation that had robbed millions of their first breath was now struck by a plague that would require of them their last!' —Jonathan Cahn, The Harbinger II: The Return
Even now we're seeing the spread of yet another plague: monkeypox.  As of today, there are several thousand cases in 37 countries. Scientists claim that they don't know how it's spreading so quickly outside Central and West Africa, where there have always been sporadic outbreaks.  But if you read to the end of the initial news articles, you'll find that those affected are 'gay and bi-sexual men'.  That information is now being purged as 'homophobic'.
And in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.  —Romans 1.27
I'd long presumed that 'penalty' referred to AIDS, but is this another 'penalty'?  At any rate, in these last days, as judgments are poured out on the world, it is essential that we cling to God.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty… For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence.  —Psalm 91.1, 3
If you need reassurance that God will keep you safe in these trying times, read Psalm 91. As you read, remember that the promises of protection refer not to those who ignore God and go their own way or to those who warm pews on Sunday morning, but to those who 'dwell in the shadow of the Most High'.

We long for fair treatment from others, but do we give it? We hate those who base their judgments on appearance, false evidence, or hearsay, but are we quick to judge others using those same standards? Only Jesus Christ can be the perfectly fair judge who always rules with righteousness and justice. Only as he governs our hearts can we learn to be as fair in our treatment of others as we expect others to be toward us.
