It's officially August 28th on Japan and is Guren's birthday! And here a daily remainder that Guren means "Crimson Lotus" in which Lotus flower is a holy one that grow up from muds and dirt and open its petals to the sun and in more explaintion, the Red or Crimson Lotus one is the one lotus which symbolize "Love" and in the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, sits on a Red Lotus flower and holds such a deep and important symbol such as mercy in that religion. (source)
And I love the way how Kagami sensei wrote this character's personality so like the meaning of his name!
Happy Birthday Guren-chan!!

Owari no Seraph volume 28 author's afterward english fan translation
Author's Note
It's been 10 entire years! That's so awesome!!!!! We've done this for 10 years! I want to thank everyone, so much has happened this past decade. Writing that, I think I and everyone else looked up at the sky and let it sink in. I want to look back on those same memories too.
All that is to say, how are we looking right now? Lately, I've been studying storytelling an incredible amount. I've come into a serious desire to do better. Owari no Seraph is a series that publishes monthly, but within that serialization, each character has their own different decisions to be made each month. To see them all doing their best, the first one who needs to study is me. When I look at the works of other authors, they contain such different themes to my own, and I feel touched by them. Why does this one hit me so hard? Why does this one feel like rejection? I've been thinking about this a lot. How will this plot progress? What will be felt about this? The answers to these questions should be as numerous as the people themselves, but I still wonder what the difference is between what moves the hearts of the masses and what just doesn't. Since the introduction of the internet and smartphones, well, it makes seeking out information and materials for creative purposes and also studying in general much easier. And I've been thinking that, in the overflow of information, there's been a layer of diversity and complexity added with people's feelings, and there's an aspect to it that has been simplified. Day by day I'm learning and it's really exciting. If it can be done, I hope that the world of everyone who reads this work and who supports Yuu and his friends will become an even nicer place than it is now. At the same time I think that, though, there's a prideful part of me that wants to be able to write better. I'm the author, after all.
But what does it mean to be able to write better? There isn't really a correct answer here. I've started these characters off running at one point and I have to work around the inner lives that they themselves have, but for everyone who's read to this point and so that Yuu and his friends' hard work doesn't go to waste, I'll do my best too. Yamamoto-san's artworks have become more and more amazing and Furuya-san's name is popping up out there more and more, I'm grateful for that. 10 whole years!!! We've been able to come this far with everyone supporting us. Thank you!!! We're in the climax now, looking forward to what comes next!

yuu and guren represent the side of humanity that would do anything for their loved ones, even commit heavenly sins and break taboos. it's not realistic, but in the grand scheme of things, that's the essence of being human⎯struggling with losing people you didn't think you were supposed to.
mika opposing that wanting to let the dead stay dead while he himself is no longer human sets him up as the perfect foil for guren, i would say, because you're right: ons wouldn't be ons without either of the two characters.
adding on to that⎯yuu not being entirely human either and swaying between selfishness for the sake of it and saving everyone bc it’s “right” almost signifies that battle between his human side and the other (seraph? demon? angel?) side. yuu's an interesting case bc he and mika have this whole past (and they aren't even humans) that adds to their story line because then it raises the question⎯is it human to be selfish and then regret it and wish to atone? is it inhuman to be selfish with reckless abandon?

Owari no Seraph volume 27 author's afterword english fan translation
As the title says, I've gone through and translated Kagami's usual author's note at the end of the new volume. Thank you for working with me.
Afterword
This is volume 27. That's a pretty wild number, only 3 books left to volume 30! This story is heading steadily to its climax, I'll need motivation to write it. There is already an established setting and frame of view, but I'm using all my effort to have the characters deviate from that and it's taking a lot of time to get down exactly how that will turn out. I created this structure a long time ago, so to have it connect well I'm writing everything down and managing it in a software called Mindmap. This is such a convenient time to be alive!
To change the subject, I think everyone agrees that the recent state of affairs in this world is not easy to look at. The other day, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by some people from France. It was just a question, but they asked "'Seraph of the End' starts with an unknown virus spreading rapidly and ending the world with all the adults dying. Looking at the current situation, what are your thoughts?" Of course, I answered that I'd never even thought something like this would happen.
That being said, people are always overcoming viruses, natural disasters and the pain of war, coming face to face with the human condition. If nothing's happening, the chance to face off with life will come few and far between, but now the world is so small that it comes quickly. I think we live in a time where we need to prepare and fortify ourselves by the information of these fast-approaching things. As for what type of preparation, regardless of the situation, I think they should take the form of deciding to calm down, join hands, and be kind to someone else.
There is a war happening. No, I was also thinking this during the initial creation of Seraph of the End, during the Touhoku Earthquake (he's talking abt the big one in 2011, better known to some as the Fukushima earthquake disaster). I'm grateful to Seraph of the End, it has fans all over the world. When that earthquake happened, Seraph of the End had not yet started, but I had been given the experience twice prior of having my work adapted to anime, so there were already some fans in Japan and around the world. So, when I looked at twitter, it was written "There has been an earthquake!" Now, I might witness "There has been a war" being written.
When the virus spread, I saw it written that "There's been a pandemic!" There is something we can do from there. I think we should try to tell ourselves to exist with the intention to be kind to others. The same to Yuuchan, Mikaela, Guren and the others, whatever they face in their world and whatever they face with their family and friends.
I'm so glad to have met everyone, thank you. From whatever country or situation you are reading from, we are all brought together in Seraph of the End. From here we're rushing into the climax, so everyone, let's continue to work together!
