#cats #outing myself once again as someone whos not attune whatsoever to human culture but - in all honesty I do not know #what 'psspsspss' means despite loving cats my entire life hghj.. I've just seen people online describe that as how you call a cat #but I have never in my life witnessed someone call a cat by making that noise or made that noise myself. I can't even think of an example o #it so I genuinely don't even know what that's supposed to be but. Included because I've seen it so much it must be something to someone #even when I was a kid I pretty much always just meowed to cats and tried to sound exactly like them or whatever meow I associated with them #obviously not literally saying “ME OW” but doing an actual cat meow. often times a kind of 'prrrow' sort of noise where you trill your tong #ue then lead into a softer vocal tone .. maybe like 'mrrrrauh' or something? Or sometimes just a trilling chirp immitating the #cat's ''mrrrrp'' they do sometimes. I used to mimic small kittens to get the attention of cats #with their like very high pitches squeky whine with a little bit of air out the nostrils at the end to imitate the sound of them having #tiny lungs that don't hold much air so with a long loud 'mew' it's sometimes a little strained near the end #Though usually I just imitate the cat that I'm around at the time. Sometimes I have done kind of a combination kissy lip sort of noise #tongue clicking. almost like tapping on the back of your front teeth with your tongue and sucking in. almost makes kind of a squirrel noise #ANYWAY... curiouse....

It's Saturday night. It's late.

I just got back from photographing a 5-hour ophthalmology graduation event.

My brain is fried.

In lieu of a real post, have my brother's cat Chihaya being the biggest ragdoll on the planet.

He was a bit above average as a kitten, but just got so big. I'm fairly certain his mother was a maine coon and his father was a small exoplanet.

#she knows what she did #her name is fluffy cuz when we were forstering her and her siblings we didn't want to gove them names in case we weren't keeping them #so we came up with nicknames such as Fluffy and Calico and Orange and Tabby and Mama #we only ended up keeping fluffy and calico #but we really couldn't decide on thematic names. so we gave up and kept the nicknames #i really wanted Nyx for cali and Bastet for fluff but nooooo. mom doesn't like one-syllable names #oh and i nicknamed mama Vanillabean because she's vanilla colored and a bean #but the names have stopped being their original stem #now it's Fluffers and Calibird #cali chirps like a bird so that's where that's from #she's also the embodiment of chaos which is why i wanted Nyx #i call Cali Calliope sometimes because i'm not giving up the theme. her chirps are vaguely musical so it counts i think #existenceunrelateds #cats #kittens #kitties #cats of tumblr

Why did I get a black cat? When I hallucinate shadow people?? I just felt a slight shift on my bed, look over, and she's just there. A shadow, with a slight gleam of her eye from the street lights outside. Mistakes were made, but she's such a good cat so I'm stuck with her for the next 20-odd years (hopefully)

I took the afternoon off work to take one of the kittens to the vet. He was limping last night, but by lunch today the limp had spread to another foot, and he had a fever. My sister called the vet, the vet said bring him in.

As the one with the most flexible work schedule, I volunteered to take him.

He’s going to be fine. It’s a rare secondary infection that cats can get after a respiratory illness, and can be fatal if left untreated. But he’s staying at the vet for a few days to get said treatment, and the vet thinks he’ll be good to come home by this weekend.

But I took the whole afternoon off for this, so after I left I got subpar coffee through a new drive through coffee shop. Then I picked up my prescription. I finally have the right adhd meds again. Then a second slightly less subpar coffee from Starbucks.

Now I’m home, sitting in the car, because the rain picked up in the last five minutes of my drive and I don’t want to get wet.

But I can’t sit here forever. And I’ve got stuff to do.

And the kitten will be fine.
