Ever think about the fact that Uther fell in love with a corpse?

That Catrina was dead, had already been dead for weeks, when the troll strutted into court wearing her face

And speaking of the origins of their plan- the troll had likely scavenged the estate of Tregor after the invasion minutes after the event, kicking bodies out the way on her instinctual hunt gold

Instead of finding anything valuable, which the bandits had already taken, she found pretty personal belongings, too lesser for a thief... and the lady that they belonged too.

Brutally murdered maybe, but intact enough to be recreated, and impersonated.

Finding her manservant’s body fallen nearby made the idea too easy to conceive, a "Jonas" in hand and the personal items of Catrina ruthlessly ripped away, the plan wealth beyond their imagining was already in motion

And then in the aftermath, of the whole horrid, gruesome, embarrassing affair, when the rumors had died down enough…

Uther must’ve gone quietly, in the early hours of the morning, to visit Catrina’s grave - the real Catrina

Laid flowers, and shed a few private tears over the woman he had never met, but had strong feelings for, perhaps love. Her physique and voice had enchanted him, in more ways than one, and temporarily given him a happy out from the sins of the past

Though it must've unsettled him, that he had fallen for the figment of a woman, not even a ghost, and pledged his entire Kingdom in a heartbeat over a pleasant if pitying face

Although I'm sure the irony, of beloveds coming back to the present, wearing marred faces with a masked intent for vengeance over ghosts of his evils, must have eluded him...

#yeah that episode is hilarious - Uther eating shit and all! but it’s also incredibly creepy if you think about it... #I also really like the idea of troll being more of a scavenger and opportunist than a feeling being at all #Jonas must've been something she scavenged too - another creature bent to the wills of her plan #and poor Catrina! the *real* Catrina #the one with the the incurable bone disorder who'd knocked on Gauis' door kindly asking for treatment #who loved to ride and was especially close to her manservant #whom the troll had to substitute to provide a convincing enough cover #the thought that they were disrespected so much #even after death! Just *used* as shells for another plan and then forgotten afterwards #Catrina's name in the history books as Uther's wife and described as troll! - oh I know how *that* will be misremembered years later... #It's all just so cruel #If there was the way to memorialize the real her I would #and all the others on the show - scavenged and misremembered as “shades” of themselves #a classic theme on a show all about mis-identity #politics #betrayals #and lies... #bbc merlin meta #lady catrina #the beauty and the beast #jonas #king uther

Who Strickler will have to deal with!

Lady Micté as Teca Institute's Principal and Catrina, otherwise known as La Muerte, as the Principal of San Angel High School!

Unaware the principal of Arcadia Oaks High School is a Changeling stuck in his troll form, both arrive there disguised as humans but not like other times, when they hid all traces of their original appearance. This time, they picked looks according to themselves, their relationship as sisters and as principals.

Obviously, Strickler will have the best day of his life. He is in front of two important figures of Mexican history: The glorious Catrina from Jose Posada, the immaculate satyric image of the spanish folk on Mexico. And Micte, Goddess of Death and Queen of the Underworld. He'll fanboy for hours once he's back at home with Barbara, that's for sure.

The sisters travel to Arcadia to dropoff and pick up students everytime the exchange takes place. They're there mostly to settle things and see eye to eye.

Both still retain their divine powers, so when they finally meet Strickler, after some confusion, both change to their original forms.

I did 3 slideshows related to Halloween that all my kids have enjoyed, with one being about American Halloween, one about costumes, and one about Dia de los Muertos (I'm from Texas and I explained that it's a lot like Obon, and that Mexico has had a huge influence on Texas culture and history wise).

The Dia de los Muertos one also has an explanation of what an ofrenda is and how it isn't just a) exactly like a Japanese altar, b) can sometimes feature famous people and not just family and c) ofrendas aren't the only ways to make memorials in Latin America for the dead. Like I showed the memorial people made in that metro station in Chile after Gojo died in JJK and all the kids were like "OOOOHHH". They think LatAm otakus are super cool and dedicated for making a memorial like that for a character

Also they immediately recognize Coco but the Japanese title is Remember Me, so they ALWAYS see the images and go "OHHH! リメンバーミ!" And it always makes me smile because it's always the same reaction. They also really like the colorful outfits and Catrina makeup, and they really want to eat sugar skulls now. And god bless them some of them try really hard to pronounce the Spanish words like Dia de los Muertos, ofrenda, Catrina, etc.

Ghost x F!reader

this is a preview, I just want to see how many people would be interested in this idea so I begin to write it out on A03

Ghost could feel Alejandro staring at him, not even bothering hiding it as he hates when people stare at him longer than necessary.

Neither of them said a word for a few moments before Ghost decided to say something first.

"Something on my face?" He says in a rather annoyed tone, the accent heavy as Alejandro finally closes his eyes, crossing his arms.

The gang was headed back to Alejandro's base so the rest of the guys were either keeping a look out or taking a small break.

Ghost watches as he shifts in his seat, "No, but your mask does remind me of something…"

Alejandro seems to hesitate to continue, "or rather, someone." Ghost stares at him, waiting for him to continue but he doesn't.

"Starin' at my face and that's all you say?" He scoffs but the other man was in thought.

"La Catrina." He says in Spanish, letting out a deep breath he didn't know he was even holding in.

Ghost raises a brow at this, "say what?"

"Your mask," the Mexican gestures to his mask covering his face from view, his eyes only visible.

"It matches well con ella, La Catrina. La misma cara de esqueleto, even down to the detail of hiding your own faces."

"Still doesn't answer my question, who is La Catrina?" He fumbles with his speaking as Alejandro glances around for a brief moment.

"Lady of the dead," the car comes to a stop and he stands, Ghost keeping his eyes on him.

"...as to who La Catrina is? Well, no one knows."

Ghost narrows his eyes at this as Alejandro gets off the car, everyone else following soon after as questions start to form in his head.

Wrote this in one sitting so things might change in the final version

okay, but has anyone written canon divergence merthur magic reveal as of "beauty and the beast part two"???

thinking about how in that episode arthur's immediate and insistent reaction to learning merlin had been ordered to be arrested was to alert him in time for him to escape and urge him to leave camelot immediately before he could be detained

arthur didn't ask if merlin had really taken lady catrina's seal. he didn't even care if merlin had taken it, and was possibly guilty of a crime against the crown. his first and only thought was for merlin to save himself

imagining the same situation, but with merlin being accused of using magic after someone catches him doing a spell. arthur coming to him and telling him to save himself, to get out while he still can because the king is arresting him on suspicion of practicing sorcery

merlin standing there frozen, because he's kept this secret for so long and a part of him has always dreaded this would be how arthur would find out. voices coming from beyond the door to arthur's chambers, as arthur realizes merlin's not going to move in time

imagining arthur frantically hiding merlin somewhere in his rooms while the guards search for him - maybe he's stuffed unceremoniously in a wardrobe, or has to clamber out of arthur's window and hang off the windowsill for dear life until arthur hauls him back inside, or something

and after the guards are gone, and the coast is relatively clear, merlin realizes he can't hide his secret from arthur any longer

cue arthur processing his feelings about merlin's magic (and about merlin) while also harboring him as a fugitive within his rooms, which merlin can't leave for his own safety. arthur who's at first angry with him, then grudgingly curious about what merlin can do with his magic, then openly admiring, then indignant when he finds out merlin's been cheating at his chores with magic

arthur realizing there really is a risk to merlin, if the allegations are true, becoming all the more insistent that merlin must leave camelot even if it will pain him for merlin to leave. merlin adamant about staying. the two of them arguing over it because doesn't arthur understand he's merlin's destiny, and everything merlin's done has been for him, and if arthur sends him away now, it'll all be for nothing? (unspoken: doesn't arthur understand how merlin loves him? and also unspoken: doesn't merlin understand how arthur loves him? because arthur would rather long for merlin from afar and have him safe than put him at risk, here in camelot?)

of course, all of this happening while merlin says he'll sleep on the floor during the nights, and arthur not hearing of it after all merlin's done for him, knowing now all the power merlin has, and merlin insistent that arthur doesn't owe him anything, he'd have done it a thousand times over

okay, and basically it's like the best mashup of mutual pining + forced proximity + magic reveal + there was only one bed EVER, the end
