I couldn't post this earlier, but Rolo's alt arrived even faster in Lost Stories than Genesic Re;Code! Good thing that I have no temptation to gacha for other characters and I'm permanently prepared for any unexpected Rolos...

"Rolo [The First Time of Peacefulness]" (Taken from the official twitter account) The translation for the lines he says on the video above: (When scouted) "If it's with brother, I'd like to go to an aquarium or the sea together..." (Right after he's scouted) "The clothes that brother bought for me... I need to wear them carefully so I don't get them dirty." (First login screen) "The outfit he bought for me when I went out with big brother the other day… The student council members also said that it suits me." (Regular login screen until the last day) "I should tell brother that everyone said it suits me... Wait, why would I need to do such a thing? He's just a surveillance subject..." I'll upload the last login screen and the rest of his home/battle lines another day, as I don't have enough pizza items to earn his Trust by refilling my stamina over and over like I did last time. But here's a few notes for now: ・Judging by the name "first time of peacefulness" and the fact that Rolo refers to Lelouch as "just a surveillance subject", I assume Lelouch bought his little brother this incredibly tacky and I mean that in a good way outfit while his memories were still altered. However, whereas “Rolo [Fake Little Brother]” is treated as an Ashford Academy and Office of Secret Intelligence unit, "Rolo [The First Time of Peacefulness]" also adds Black Knights to the groups he's affiliated with... ・Furthermore, although I haven't seen any of his Trust interactions yet, this Rolo uses informal Japanese when addressing Mario/Maya (the player) in his Home lines, which suggests a closer relationship than they had during the chronological point in time that “Rolo [Fake Little Brother]” belongs to. More explicitly, "Rolo [The First Time of Peacefulness]" mentions that Lelouch is searching for a place to hide the Knightmares, so the only possible conclusion is that some of his lines are meant to take place before Turn 1 and others after Turn 4...? ・It's so endearing how excited Rolo is about his new outfit and how he's careful not to soil it… How adorable can he get? How many people have lost their lives merely from coming into contact with his clothes? ・This Rolo has a skill called "It's because I'm with Brother that it's fun" (兄さんとだから楽しいんだ) which increases his HP and defense based on the number of Lelouchs placed on the battlefield... That's the kind of skill I would have made up as a joke while brainstorming a potential Geass game 15 years ago, and now it's a reality! I love Lost Stories!! Rolo Lamperouge's Character & Personality

Rolo is a sixteen-year-old student at Ashford Academy. He's also an agent, officer and assassin. Rolo is kind-hearted and innocent, but this is a facade when he's in disguise as Lelouch's little brother. He eventually reveals his true personality as a cold and ruthless killer. Chapter 3 (Section 6): For Today I Am… 

This is the final section of 'Nunnally's Halloween'. This chapter shows the group finally having their own Halloween party in peace.

We open back up with the group surrounding a massive table overflowing with sweets, zooming first on Al and Gigi.

Al: Thank goodness, it looks like everyone in Fimblwinter is enjoying Halloween too. Wh-GIGI!? Those are my treats! 

Gigi: Faffy Faffoveen~ (happy halloween~) 

Al: It’s too early to shove em in your mouth! 

We then move over to Liu Ki and Hong Yu.

Hong Yu: They’re so noisy, jeez. 

Liu Ki: Um, big brother. 

Hong Yu: Huh, what’s wrong Liu Ki? We have plenty of sweets, you can have as much as you like. 

We then zoom in on the big pile of treats surrounding the siblings.

Liu Ki: Yeah. However, aren’t these the ones you forcibly took from Lelouch earlier?

Hong Yu: Yup, they are. 

Liu Ki: I think that’s no good. 

Hong Yu: Don’t stare at me like that. There’s a reason for this. It’s not bullying or anything. 

Liu Ki: A reason? 

The camera slowly zooms out to draw more attention to the Lamperouge siblings.

Hong Yu: Uh- well I don’t know how to say it. 

Liu Ki promptly looks at him confused.

Hong Yu: …It’s not because she’s his little sister, but rather because he’s her older brother, and he should be aware of what his sister is doing, if that makes sense. 

Liu Ki stares back with even more confusion. We then fade fully into Nunnally and Lelouch's conversation.

Nunnally: Brother, it looks like you ended up being the executive committee chairman of the Fimbulwinter party. 

Lelouch: Well, in this situation you only get a chance like this once. 

Nunnally: But thank you for making me vice chairman though. Thanks to that, I finally got to talk to you alone for the first time in awhile. 

Lelouch: …I did make you feel quite lonely. 

Nunnally: Brother… 

Lelouch: Since we came here, we haven't had much time to spend together. I don’t think even this will make up for it… 

Nunnally: That’s fine. After all, it’s how we’re spending our time right now. 

Lelouch: Yeah. I'm glad I was able to have a party with you. 

Nunnally: Yup! Well, it was true that I was lonely though… 

Lelouch stares at her, perplexed.

Nunnally: Trick of treat! 

Lelouch: Huh? Oh, that's right. It’s a Halloween party after all. 

Nunnally: If you don’t give me sweets, I’ll start playing tricks on you. 

Lelouch: Wait Nunnally, hold on a second. Hong Yu took all the sweets I had earlier… 

Nunnally: A prank it is then. Please come over and bring your face close to me. 

Lelouch hesitantly brings his ear closer to her. The screen fades to back for Nunnally's upcoming words.

Nunnally: I love you very much, big brother. 

Lelouch jolts back in shock. Nunnally giggles at his expression.

Lelouch: Goodness, I can’t compete with you, Nunnally. 

Nunnally: Yeah, because today... I felt mischievous!

The story fades off from there.

I’ll add this under “official art”, since Rolo has no lines yet, but it’s a picture taken from the newest Lost Stories chapter, added just today. EDIT: Oh yes, I did forget to mention something! @mimaru​ told me that in WAVE Vol. 3, Lelouch says “It seems that lately he’s embarrassed to admit that he likes flowers. He might be androgynous, but he’s also a teenage boy already...” From these lines alone, I don’t know if Rolo really is embarrassed to express that he like flowers, assuming he does like them, or if Lelouch expects him to be as openly into flowers as Nunnally and, because he isn’t as enthusiastic about them as her, Lelouch thinks Rolo must be hiding his real feelings... More importantly, that Lelouch would even be able to notice his brother’s appearance as androgynous-looking comes as a surprise to me!

The most important symbol of Code Geass

In episode three of the first season, Nunnally Lamperouge has her first appearance in the anime and it is worth paying attention to this point because she introduces the symbol, if not the most important, the most special. The paper crane in the words of Lelouch's little sister (originally transmitted by Sayoko), “if you fold the paper several times, the origami will become a ship or a bird, and if you make a thousand, your wishes will come true”. Nunnally asks her brother if there is anything he wants, to which Lelouch answers in the negative and returns the question. And Nunnally is limited to answer: "I want a kinder world." From then on, Lelouch will take his sister's wish as his own and move heaven and earth to materialize it. 

That's why the series concludes with a close-up shot of the paper crane. It’s no coincidence that it is pink. It’s a reminder of that scene we had back then and a way of indicating to the viewer that Lelouch was able to fulfill Nunnally's dream and, by extension, his (as with Kallen and his brother's dream on her part; after the events of episode 7 of R2, Lelouch makes that wish his own). 

Therefore, the crane is a symbol of the desires of the heart (side note: I’m not surprised that this is expressed through origami, which is a traditional art of the culture of the Japanese, who are the “good guys” in this world). 

It’s for that reason that the physical representation that the Geass assumes is the form of a bird. Geass is also a symbol of desire (in the Code Geass Wiki I read that in the last episode of the anime Lelouch himself says it verbatim).

Okay.

So! Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, huh? Took me five years to get to it. I do not know what I expected. This was not nearly as bad as I feared but also not as good as I hoped. I guess I'd say it's good as a movie for huge Code Geass fans, but it also kind of walks back some of the core ideas of Code Geass as a series, so Hm.

Like, ok, let's just start with the premise. The very idea of Lelouch coming back to life after the end of the series (or rather the alternate continuity to the series as presented by the Lelouch of the Rebellion compilation movies), is already a bit wonky. If Code Geass works on any level *thematically,* it's because Lelouch, as the 99th Emperor Britannia, dies. He dies not because it's necessarily the right thing to happen to him *morally,* but because he knows he has so much blood on his hands that he can't live with himself. It's suicide-by-Suzaku. That's how the original series ends.

Here, of course, he is just back. In of itself, that would be fine, but everyone is SO accepting of it SO quickly. There's a couple quick scenes of Kallen crying over him and Suzaku beating the ever-loving shit out of him (he deserves worse honestly), but for the most part everyone is completely happy to start taking orders from History's Greatest Monster again. With some of these people, like Cornelia and even his own sister Nunally, this kind of strains credulity. Especially with how the latter goes out of her way to exonerate Lelouch of any wrongdoing and blames herself for not truly understanding her brother's motives. I'm sorry, like, I've seen the show. That's just kind of bullshit. Lelouch's motives were *extremely* selfish and the fact that he never told Nunnally what he was up to was kind of the whole point, he didn't respect her as an equal, and just thought of her as someone he needed to protect. Due to, you know, pick one; misogyny, a generally privileged upbringing that may have rubbed some concept of noblesse oblige into him, ableism, the fact that he's a smug bastard who assumes he knows better than everyone, etc.

The unfortunate thing about the movie, though, is that Lelouch Lamperouge is cool as shit and it's really fun to watch him do anything.

Where it gets brought back, at least for me, in spite of all these flaws, is that I do just pop when Lelouch is on-screen Doing His Thing. C.C. has a fantastic little exchange with him when he gets discouraged late in the film where she talks about how she wants to see the arrogant, unwavering Lelouch. That's a good moment and it's pretty in keeping with their relationship, but it's also a sly nod toward the fourth wall I'm pretty sure. Unfortunately, to some extent, I will just watch this fucking bastard with his fucking hair and his fucking cloak and mask and his fucking violet shoujo manga-ass eyes and his fucking fruity little hand gestures whenever he talks, play everyone like a fiddle yet again while making grand pronouncements and saying "checkmate" unironically when he's got someone cornered even though no one has ever played a game of chess on-screen in Code Geass that made a lick of sense.

There are certain characters that just have such unreal amounts of charisma that watching them do basically anything is fun. (The voice acting in this thing is magnificent, of course, and helps sell that. I'd listen to Fukuyama Jun read a phone book.) Lelouch is one of those. If I'm any Code Geass character in spirit, it's Tamaki. Any time Lelouch puts on the Zero mask I scream and point at the screen and go "that's my man right there!!" like we're close personal friends or something. It's a disease, and I have to live with it. God forbid I ever get super into UC Gundam, I don't know WHAT I'd do if I ended up being like this about Char.

Everyone else returning from Code Geass proper has at least one really good moment, too. Kallen, Suzaku, and C.C. predictably get the best of them and the new characters that are introduced as their antagonists are, at least, very strong. The way the middle east is portrayed in this movie is WILD problematic, but a side effect of how Code Geass tends to write its antagonists is that at the very least the antagonist characters here have actual, like, human motives, and Lelouch's opposite number Shamna is a worthy foe; he does of course beat her but it's really down to the wire. Lot of good mecha fights in here, too, with Kallen and Suzaku both getting a lot of good screentime doing what they do best. There's more CGI than I'd like (CGI can work very well in a mecha anime IF the mecha are designed for it, but Code Geass' largely were not and you can tell), but not enough that it saps the movie of its dynamism, so, full marks there.

And then there's the ending of the movie which, hmmm. Basically, indirectly, the film makes C.C. x Lelouch canon, and in the postscript they seem to have formed a Geass Master power couple (complete with a very sharp gothic lolita look for C.C. that is absolutely fabulous. Lelouch's new outfit in that sequence is pretty snazzy too). I know Suzululu was always the more popular pairing (at least I've always gotten that impression), but I think this actually mostly makes sense, and I think they look good together. OTOH, Lelouch---sorry, he's going by L.L. now---seems like the sort of person who has a lot of different people in his life without necessarily being *totally* bound to any one of them. Maybe that's my own polyamory coloring the text, but it didn't feel exclusionary to me.

Anyway, yeah. Kind of betrays the spirit of the original a little bit but as far as being essentially a fun fanservice movie it was pretty good. They're making more, I'll probably watch those, too, especially if Lelouch continues to be cunty in them.

Despite the hardships in her life, Nunnally is a gentle soul. She’s a very kind and empathetic girl, as her greatest wish is for the world to become a peaceful place. At times she can be lonesome, wishing her brother, Lelouch, would stay home with her, so she appreciates company. Nunnally is capable of making tough decisions, and will shoulder burdens if it means creating the world she wants to see, though not without some heartache. There are also times where she’s fed up with people lying to her or perhaps pitying her because of her disabilities and she puts her foot down. Ultimately she just doesn’t want anyone to suffer and wishes for people to get along.

something your muse struggles with: Dependency. Nunnally relies on people to take care of her, and this isn’t a bad thing, but it prevents her from changing the world. Nunnally wants to change the world in her own way, namely through gentler methods like peace ties between countries, and she ends up becoming the viceroy of Japan so that she can achieve this goal and hopefully make a greater impact. But even then she is used as a political figurehead and rarely gets to make any big decisions of her own. Her dependency has resulted in her being lied to, kidnapped, held hostage, and left to deal with the consequences of Zero’s rebellion on her own. 

your muse’s greatest strength: Kindness. At her core, Nunnally yearns for peace and an end to fighting. Unlike Lelouch, Nunnally can’t be as cold or calculating as him, and he once said Nunnally’s smile is her greatest characteristic- since she can’t see or walk and needs assistance, her way of expressing gratitude is through her smile, as it’s the least she can do in return.

history / background:

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say Nunnally’s life revolves around her older brother, Lelouch. Born as Prince and Princess to Britannia’s Royal Family, the siblings lived relatively carefree early lives together alongside their mother and half siblings. However that all changed when their mother was murdered and Nunnally’s legs were paralyzed in the attack. She lost her sight shortly thereafter as well. Their father, the Emperor, sent Lelouch and Nunnally away to Japan as political hostages. They stayed at the Kururugi shrine and met Suzaku there. The three kids became the best of friends.

Unfortunately, Britannia invaded Japan a few months later, and the siblings were listed as among the casualties, when in reality they’d gone into hiding. The Ashford family took them in and enrolled Lelouch and Nunnally into their academy under the surname ‘Lamperouge.’ Given her disabilities, Nunnally relied heavily on Lelouch to take care of her, and after everything they’d been through she couldn’t bear the thought of ever being separated. So long as she could stay with Lelouch, she would be happy.

Seven years passed. Nunnally lived a normal life attending school and living with her brother. One day they made a pinky promise not to lie and Lelouch asked what she wished for. Nunnally answered she wished for the world to become a gentle place. Slowly things started to change after that. A girl named CC showed up so she showed her how to make origami. Lelouch was gone more frequently. Suzaku enrolled in the Ashford Academy. A rebellion sparks in Japan between Britannia and a group calling themselves The Black Knights. She’s kidnapped and rescued. Her half-sister, Princess and sub-viceroy Euphemia, visits and they get to talk and reminisce about their childhood and how they both wished they could go back to the old days.

Euphemia is killed.

Nunnally is kidnapped yet again only this time Lelouch never makes it to her rescue. The Britannian Emperor holds her hostage for a year until Nunnally becomes the next Viceroy of Japan so that she may continue Euphemia’s work on peace operations. Eventually she discovers the truth of everything- that Lelouch is Zero, the leader of the rebellion, with a power known as Geass. He and Suzaku have been lying to her about everything from the beginning.

Her beloved big brother was now her enemy, and she was the last obstacle standing in his way.

The Key to Damocles. It’s a small staff with a button that deploys a bomb, but given that the fortress, Damocles, burnt up and the key isn’t connected to anything, it’s harmless! Just a stick to remind her of worse times.

Nunnally’s blindness was a result of her dad Geassing her into believing she was blind and now that she’s broke through that Geass she can see again.

Literally all she wanted was to stay with lelouch and she never asked him to change the world for her and he never asked if she wanted that. I’m SO ILL.
