Coralee is younger and prettier and resembles the tragic Elsa Dutton. She hates Beth's drinking problem and tries to stay out of her way, drunk or sober. Travis has had his eye on Coralee for a long time. He wants to go out with her, hell, he wants to sleep with her but she means more to him. He's older and feeling the need to settle down and Coralee could make him change his ways. For those of you who know my writing, I rarely try to include events in the original story, to me that's not creating it's copying. I noticed this when I wrote my Mummy story. To me that's kind of cheating. So, you can this story "based on" Yellowstone if you like. Travis is a character in the story and since Rip and Kayce are basically taken, I used him. Also, there are a lot of Rip or Kayce stories here, I wanted to write something else. Readers: I know ranching, I know horses, I studied equine science. Our instructor used to hire us out to his friends to drive their cattle for them. I participated in a cattle drive celebrating the San Antonio trail. This made this story more fun to write

“Israel always seeks to blame Palestinians for the atrocities it carries out. Israel was founded on lies.

Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinians are always greeted with lies. The brazenness of Israel’s lies stunned those who report from Gaza.

It did not matter if they had seen the Israeli attacks, including the shooting of unarmed Palestinians. It did not matter how many witnesses were interviewed.

It did not matter what photographic and forensic evidence was obtained. Israel lied. Small lies. Big lies. Huge lies.

These lies came reflexively and instantly from the Israeli military, Israeli politicians and Israeli media. Also amplified by Israel’s well-oiled propaganda machine and repeated with a cloying sincerity on international news outlets.

Israel engages in the kinds of jaw-dropping lies that characterize despotic regimes. It does not deform the truth, it inverts it. It paints a picture that is diametrically opposed to reality.

Those who have covered the occupied territories have run into Israel’s Alice-in-Wonderland narratives. The Big Lie — Große Lüge — feeds the two reactions Israel seeks to elicit — “racism” among its supporters and “terror” among its victims.

The Big Lies fosters the myth of a clash of civilizations, a war between democracy, decency and honour on one side and Islamic terrorism, barbarism and medievalism on the other.

George Orwell dissects the theory in his novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four” called the Big Lie “doublethink”, which uses “logic against logic” and “repudiates morality while laying claim to it.” Most importantly, the Big Lie sends an ominous message to the Palestinians.

The Big Lie states that Israel will wage a campaign of mass terror and genocide and never take responsibility for its crimes.

The Big Lie obliterates the truth. It obliterates the dignity of human thought and human action. It obliterates facts. It obliterates history. It obliterates comprehension. It obliterates hope.

It reduces all communication to the language of violence.

Climate pledges made by countries around the world would collectively require 1.2 billion hectares (about 3 billion acres) of land – a total land area larger than the United States – to meet targets laid out in national plans, researchers found in the new study. It is simply not a feasible or advisable endeavor, according to the study, The Land Gap Report.

Land is a common element in climate schemes because carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere and stored by forests and other ecosystems is calculated to offset emissions produced elsewhere. Restoration of degraded ecosystems would account for close to half of the land area required to meet climate pledges, but more than half would require lands that are already currently used for something else, the study authors noted.

Using those “new” lands for reforestation or other land-use change measures could displace Indigenous peoples, communities, or small farmers.

“This study reveals that countries’ climate pledges are dangerously over-reliant on inequitable and unsustainable land-based measures to capture and store carbon,” said Kate Dooley, lead author of the report.

“Clearly, countries are loading up on land pledges to avoid the hard work of steeply reducing emissions from fossil fuels, decarbonizing food systems and stopping the destruction of forests and other ecosystems,” Dooley, a researcher at the University of Melbourne, said in a statement.

While I was in Honduras I visited a peasant community called Unidad al Campo (Unity in the Countryside) in Guaimaca. It was settled by landless peasants about 13 years ago and the people living the are members of the National Agricultural Workers Union. The land was totally unoccupied, nothing being done with it, and they lived peacefully for about 4 years, growing beans, maize and bananas, raising pigs.

Then one of the local businessmen, who owns the gas station, turned up claiming the land belonged to him. He wants to sell it to a land speculator. Despite not having any titles to prove this, the police sided with him, and began regularly harassing the peasants, pulling down their houses. The businessman has also hired gun thugs to harrass the community. The National Agrarian Reform Institute was controlled by the supporters of the 2009 coup at this time and did not provide any assistance, and was actially providing fake land titles to other landlords. In the past they used to have policy to support peasants using land productively, but this was torn up after the 2009 coup. One peasant has had their house destroyed 5 times. The union leader, with the red hat with the union symbol on, standing next to the newly elected local LIBRE party mayor, has lost his whole family.

The community can't build anything more than shacks or properly maintain the land as they used to due to the harassment. They need to bring extra water for the crops, but they have to do this at night as thugs hired by the supposed landowner will attack them if they see a water truck. The community is about half the size it once was (it's now about 25 people, shared between two family groups), because last year a gunmen hired by the landlord shot dead a man and his wife while they were planting banana trees. The shack with the rusted corrogated roof with no door was where it happened. That section of the community, there were about 5 shacks, has been declared a no go zone by a local judge, effectively evicting the peasants, though some continue to raise maize and live on the land illegally. The evicted people have moved to Tegucigalpa. Many have family who have headed north to the US.

We went to visit the community with the Vice Minister of Agrarian Reform Rafael Alegria. To keep us safe from the thugs or anyone else, we went with police escort armed with Israeli assault rifles. It felt extremely wrong to hear the community describe how badly the police had treated them, while being the sole reason heavily armed policemen were walking around their community.

What the Ministry is doing in the short term is coordinating with the Security Ministry to order the police away from the area (which they seem to be sticking too) and conducting an investigation into who really possesses the land titles. What these people need is land titles based on usufruct rights - if you are using the land productively, to feed people, which they are, then they should have the right to that land. More so than a petty businessman who has been willing to orchestrate suffering on these people for nothing more than personal gain. These are peaceful people who just want to look after the land but can’t because someone wants to make money out of it and them.

“Only recently, my team and I shot a film (“Bihinang”) and included a community of Aetas in the production. They all played important roles in the film; some of them as actors while others, as crew members and workers,” he recalled.

“During the more than two months we were with them, we got exposed to the reality that the Aetas are hardly considered part of this place we call ‘our country.’ We were shocked to discover that they neither have no right to own nor live on their land, the one we now call ‘ancestral domain.’ They are being driven away from the places they were born and grew up in by powerful people, and they are incapable of fighting back.”

When it was time to hand them their salaries for the work they did on the film, Diaz said, he and his staff were surprised to discover that the Aetas — in this day and age — still could not present or have not been issued any official ID. The ethnic villagers have remained practically undocumented in their own “country.”

“To think that they live in an area that is close to a community with barangay and municipal halls that are technologically advanced. They can’t even get themselves listed in that location,” he said.
