Happy Valentines Day! Evelyne is a boudoir doll who loves all things decadent, sweet, and pink. Her most favorite thing in the world is hosting extravagant tea parties full of macaroons, finger sandwiches, and frosted cakes. She is the most outgoing doll in the garden, and is always making new friends. Although sometimes, she might come on a little too strong…

RIP MARTY KROFFT
1937-2023
Tumblr media
Marty Krofft was born on April 9, 1937 in Montréal, Québec, Canada. With his brother Sid, Krofft created some of television's most fantastic and magical programs, mostly centered around puppetry. Lucille Ball's interaction with the Krofft was brief, but memorable.
Tumblr media
The Krofft puppets first gained attention at the 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair where they presented a show called "Les Poupees de Paris" that included marionettes impersonating popular celebrities. In 1964-1965, they presented the (updated) show at the Worlds Fair in New York. In 1967, Ball's recorded voice, along with Jackie Gleason, Liberace, and Mae West and many other stars, was heard in “Six Flags presents Sid and Marty Krofft’s Circus”.
Tumblr media
On September 30, 1977, Donny and Marie welcomed Lucille Ball, who plays the Tin Lady in a Krofft-style spoof of “The Wizard of Oz” starring Ray Bolger. The first three seasons of "The Donny & Marie Show" were produced by the Kroffts, who also created the variety series. Ball appeared on the 2nd episode of the show's 3rd season, and the Osmonds (after a long legal battle) had finally won creative control from the Kroffts feeling they had outgrown the child-like atmosphere created by them. They moved the show to Utah and took over as producers just two months after this episode aired. In this episode, however, the Krofft vibe is still palpably present.
A few Lucille Ball / Desilu performers were seen on Krofft's many television shows.
Johnny Silver played Ludicrous Lion on TV's "H.R. Pufnstuf" (1969) and appeared as Dr. Blinky in the 1970 feature film.
Charles Nelson Reilly and Jerry Maren (both seen on "Here's Lucy") were part of "Lidsville" (1971).
1972's telefilm "Fol-De-Rol" (a film of their 1968 fairy tale puppet show) included Lucy guest stars Ann Sothern, Mickey Rooney, and Totie Fields.
"Sigmund and the Sea Monsters" (1972) starred Ball's good friend Mary Wickes as Aunt Zelda, and also featured Sidney Miller as the voice of Sweet Mama Ooze.
"The Lost Saucer" (1975) included Lucy friends Ruth Buzzi, Jim Nabors, and Vito Scotti.
"Far Out Space Nuts" (1975) featured Hal Smith and John Carradine, both of whom had appeared on "The Lucy Show."
Also seen on "Donny & Marie" during the Krofft years were Desi Arnaz, Jack Albertson, Bob Hope, Milton Berle, Ruth Buzzi, Buddy Hackett, Edgar Bergen, Andy Griffith, Rich Little, Iron Eyes Cody, Arthur Godfrey, and Vincent Price.

Greek Archaic Plagona doll: Poupée à bras et jambes articulés, les mains tenant des crotales, 4th c. BC. Credit: Photo Hervé Lewandowski. Musée du Louvre
Around  450–440 BC, a more sophisticated type of doll appeared in Athens, in which the legs were articulated not at the hips but at the knees. Dolls made during the Hellenistic and Roman periods have dresses or skirts that conceal the joint for the movable legs. Though large numbers of dolls come from the tombs of little girls, they have also been found in sanctuaries, where young girls would dedicate them to Artemis on the eve of their marriage.
History of Dolls
Archaeological evidence places dolls as the foremost candidate for the oldest known toy. Wooden paddle dolls have been found in Egyptian tombs dating to as early as the 21st c. BC. Greek Archaic dolls with movable limbs and removable clothing date back to at least 500 BC.

for the lolita ask game: 6, 11, 19 💕
6: do you have a favorite lolita/does anyone inspire you?
Yes, lots of people! Maki and Asuka the designers of AP, the kera model Midori... As far as like, lolita who's style I really like... It's kind of weird because when you are new and 'young' to lolita, you look at people and are like 'oh they are so cool, I wish I was that cool', but like, after a decade, I look at people and I'm like "That's my buddy, so-and-so" or "oh my god, the newbies just keep getting younger and younger, I am so old". XD It's just a very different sort of dynamic. But like, all that said, people who really stand out in my mind as people who's style I really like, and have liked over the last like decade, include people like Beescuit, Arthael, idodeclare, MintyMix, FannyRosie, and aerynsys. I also really looked up to caro-chan as a younger lolita and now like, we just know each other? Like IDK. oh! Toshi is cool too! And Avina! And MilaDeBlois! and and and...
11: what's one item you have that you would never sell?
I have a little handmade book necklace that Caro-chan of Fyeah lolita made. Inside it are hand-written notes, autographs, etc from friends I've met through lolita. It's one of my dearest treasures.
19: do you remember the first dress you ever saw? do you still like it?
The short answer is no, I don't remember the first dress I ever saw. I saw the first episode of Le Portrait de Petit Cossette in about 2005 at Otakon, and I saw lolita in Nana as it was published in Shoujo Beat, and I saw advertisements in shoujo beat / at Otakon for Kamikaze girls. I want to say I had a Kamikaze girls poster on my wall, but like, for whatever was on the other side, the Kamikaze girls size was facing the wall. I had online friends who wore lolita and I'm sure I saw photos of them. I also was using lolita items as drawling references for dressup dolls before I was interested in wearing lolita. I have to be clear, in like... 2004-2007-ish? I was exposed to content with lolita in it and I just didn't care. I had no interest in it.
That said, I still have my hard drive from 2008-2009, and these are the things I actually downloaded in my my drawing references that I probably would have considered lolita. I also started to fall in love with lolita while playing poupee girl. But really, it was the OTT sweet prints and bright pink x red stuff AP was doing around 2008-2009 that got me into lolita.
Dream Magic I bought and still own and adore even though it doesn't currently fit me. The bodyline candy skirt I also bought, still have... have multiples of it because I bought the sax instead of the pink and went back to get the pink years later... Most of the rest of this isn't my jam anymore, lol. I like the red x white polkadot skirt?

Veronique is one of the more elegant dolls in the garden. She loves nothing more than to stroll down the flowery lanes and feel the sun warm her porcelain. A lot of the other dolls look up to her for advice, fashion inspiration, and because she is the tallest. Whether you’re at a tea party, art gallery, or luncheon, you will see her there—enchanting, lovely, and poised.
