“You ready to do this, Sweetheart?”
Lucy took her time smoothing down the front of her dress, purposely not looking at the empty dance floor yawning in front of her.
“Are you? You know dancing isn't exactly my forte; a first dance in front of all these people just seems like asking for trouble." She shuffled in her chair. "Are trampled feet covered by the wedding insurance?”
Jeff snickered. “I checked the policy just before I came over here. We’re all set.”
“Okay, if you’re sure. But I’m wearing heels, don't forget; it's going to be like Bambi on Ice out there.”
He shrugged.
“Well I did suggest the hiking boots instead, but you shot me down; something about ‘the aesthetic’. Which looks stunning on you, by the way.”
He stood back to better take her in, grinning appreciatively.
“Last time I make that mistake,” she muttered, waving away the compliment. “Given ‘the aesthetic’ is currently cutting off the circulation to my pinkie toe, respectfully ‘the aesthetic’ can go jump in a lake.”
She mentally cursed the salesperson who’d talked her into putting fashion ahead of comfort.
Concern flashed across Jeff’s handsome face. “Are they really hurting you, honey? We can get you other shoes.”
She smiled up at him reassuringly. “No really, I’m exaggerating …sort of. They just kinda pinch, that's all.”
If she was totally honest with herself, it wasn't even the salesperson’s fault, really. She’d been the one chasing a dream of being perfect and ladylike, even if it was only this once. Dammit, why was dressing up fancy so hard?!
Of course it didn't help that her new husband managed it so effortlessly. He was currently working ‘the aesthetic’ to within an inch of its life, cutting a very dashing figure in his elegant new grey suit and tie, dress shirt and shoes all perfectly matched and filled out perfectly.
Seriously, where did he get off being so good-looking?
She’d just wanted to appear worthy of him, that’s all. Jeff Tracy: ace pilot, hometown hero, handsomest guy in the county and a genuinely good man to boot. He was the prince, and just once she’d wanted to feel like she could be his match - a princess - instead of some awkward, clutzy science nerd who’d somehow managed to win the husband lottery.
She sighed. Clearly that wasn't to be.
There was a pause, then without another word her very handsome husband - God, he really did look good in that suit - knelt down in front of her and took one of her feet gently in his hands. He examined the delicate and uncharacteristically high-heeled white shoe with utmost seriousness, before removing it and flinging it across the room.
“Jeff!”
Lucy felt her face burst into flames as a roomful of eyes turned towards them.
“What? Doesn't that feel better?”
In all fairness it absolutely did. She wiggled her newly-released toes appreciatively even as she fought the urge to hide underneath the table.
“You can't just go throwing shoes around. You’re making a scene.”
He stopped and looked at her, ignoring the rest of the room, then slowly and deliberately reached out and took hold of her other foot.
“I want to enjoy a dance with my beautiful new wife, and if these admittedly pretty little shoes are getting in the way of that…”
The second shoe flew over his shoulder, just missing a nearby waiter.
“...then they’ve gotta go.”
The room was hushed; everyone was looking at them. Part of her wanted to run and hide in the coatroom until they’d all gone, but he was holding her gaze, keeping her steady.
“I don't want anything getting between me and the most amazing, beautiful, perfect person I ever saw, ever again.”
He rose gracefully to his feet and held out his hand to her.
“So how about it? May I have this dance?”
It was late spring and the cicadas were singing. Airbase staff were bustling all around, knocking into her, sending papers flying everywhere. She knelt down to pick them up, and suddenly there was a hand in front of her.
“Can I give you a hand, Miss?”
It was fall, and the trees around them were every shade of red. They’d talked about everything and nothing, walking side by side, until he stopped and reached out to her.
“Would it be alright if I held your hand?”
It was winter and the snow was falling softly. His ice skates made long swooshing noises on the ice around her, while hers clacked noisily as she tried and failed to keep her footing. Another swoosh and then he was there in front of her, hand extended.
“Okay, so not my best idea. How about we go get a hot chocolate instead? My treat?”
It was the last days of summer, and the clear water of the lake lapped at her toes. She’d never felt so happy in her life. A perfect day. Beside her she felt him shift nervously, and then he was holding his hand out, a little red box in it, one knee on the ground.
“I’ve got a question I wanna ask…”
Her head flooded with the memories of a hundred moments, small and huge, all of them important. A hundred images of him offering his hand, and at last she understood.
He'd reached out for her.
She was the one. And she was worthy, just as she was.
Smiling, she accepted the offered hand.
“Of course you may, Mr Tracy.”
He grinned and bowed. “Why thankyou, Mrs Tracy.”
She rose and he led her, barefoot and spotlit, to the dance floor without a care in the world. Keeping her hand in his, he wrapped his other arm around her waist, enveloping her like a delicate, precious treasure, safe and protected. Their eyes met and he beamed at her like his face was made of actual sunshine.
She grinned back at him.
“You’re sure about that wedding insurance now? Last chance.”
“Don’t you worry about my toes, darlin’. Just keep a hold of me and we’ll do fine.”
And with that the band struck up an old favourite, and hand-in-hand they danced the night away.
Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you.

Notes- Christmas TAG secret santa fic.
Because of this post and @janetm74 and @edutainer2022 here are my additional notes for my 2023 thunderfam secret santa fic.
It contains brainstorming that became part of the og fic and notes as a continuation for the car ride. It was actually these that I came up with first and intended to write but got side tracked with explorations of getting ready, especially given the prompt i was given was “Every day is a school day” with Jeff and Lucy. Also deadlines!
Mind that this is pretty much as is from my notes in its entirety, complete with spelling errors, partial sentences and utter lack of cohesion as I jumped between ideas.
Link for the fic proper on ao3.
---
“Every day is a school day” Jeff and Lucy. And everyone.
Car drive to spent christmas with Grandma and Grant at Gran Rocha. The preparing and road tripping shenanigans.
getting all five kids plus themselves and luggage into the car on time as chaotic as a school day. Jeffs line?

Scott’s grumpy teenness and chucking a pillow at him with surprisingly good aim for supposedly asleep. Scott getting up. Bed hair mess that Jeff runs a gentle hand through pulling him into a hug. Virgil and John. John and Bagel the cat curled up together. Both hissing at him in unison. Virgil needed to be hugged and woken up more slowly.

Thats the beat up old ute and theres nothing much out there to hit any way.
And they were done. Bags were in the car, kids were in the car, last final bathroom stops had been had.  Lucy patted down her pockets. Keys! She didn’t have them, so Jeff must except that he didn’t. Surely the couldn’t have lost them with the neon pink rocket ship key chain attached to prevent this. Until they both spied Scott leaning against the drivers side door and swinging them around his finger.
“So, can I drive?” Scott asked as if he didn’t already know the answer to that question.
“No,” came the parental chorus.
Then the other kids repeating them, picking up on it slightly behind.
Scott grinning and tossed the keys in the air one last time then caught them. He passed them to Lucy’s waiting hand prompted by a stern eyebrow.
7 seater beat up car. Drive- Kansas to Texas. approx 9 hours to 8 1/2. Lucy english thinking its ages. at least america had good highways. and from her mothers tales at least kangaroo spotter was a redundant position.
Panic at dress clothes for Christmas day

A Part of Her
For various reasons (train strikes etc) I haven’t done a commute fic (where I just thrash something out in a linear form and don’t obsessively edit it later) for a while, but a little idea occurred to me today so here is a hurried lunch-break fic…
What do we call these two? Was it Astro Turf?
Whatever, a bit of Allie and Virg…
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
“Virg?”
“What’s up, Allie?”
His little brother had drifted across the room and was slowly running his hand along the edge of the piano lid watching the hammers rise and fall as Virgil played. He’d not said anything for a while and not wanting him to believe his presence was unwelcome, Virgil had just smiled at him and waited for whatever was coming. When he eventually spoke, Alan’s voice was steeped in uncertainly.
“This was… Mom’s, right?”
“Yes Allie it was. We had it shipped over when we moved here.”
Alan nodded and was quiet again for a while. Clearly something was brewing. Virgil shifted from the concerto he was niggling at into a slightly sparser, atmospheric piece which gave more space and time for any words that might be coming.
“She… played a lot?”
“Pretty much every moment she got. More than me I think.”
“Why do you play so much?”
“Why do I play?”
Virgil paused to consider, looking down at his hands as he ran a couple of gentle arpeggios through a series of chords. There was a lot more behind that question than there appeared and he needed to choose his answer carefully.
“Firstly, because I enjoy it, I like the music I create and I like the fact it’s something I’m creating, even if it goes a bit wonky.”
Alan nodded, blue eyes met his with very deliberate focus. He was clearly concentrating on every word Virgil said.
“Secondly, because you guys enjoy it. I like being able to help Scott relax, or Gordon laugh… or cheer you up sometimes.”
Another nod. Virgil stopped playing a moment and rested his fingers over the black notes.
“Um, I also often play to try and process how I feel about things. Sometimes it’s hard to put the difficult stuff into words but…” he played a series of chords around D minor and then coughed and reverted back to a slightly cheerier key as he noticed Alan try to cover up rubbing at his eye by scratching his nose.
“Then I guess the final one is… it helps me feel close to her, to Mom. I imagine her hands on the keys, making the same sounds and I feel like a part of her is still with me.”
Alan closed his eyes and whispered something hurriedly. Virgil leaned over to put his right hand over his brother’s left where he held the side of the instrument in a vice grip.
“I didn’t quite catch that Allie?”
He opened his eyes and looked Virgil full in the face again, eyes wide. “Can you teach me?”
Virgil knew his expression must have betrayed his surprise as his baby brother rushed on hurriedly.
“I know you did before when I was a kid and I sucked, I didn’t try very hard or practise because I didn’t get it. I didn’t get what it meant. And I’m probably still going to suck at it Virgil, I know that.”
Alan swallowed hard.
“But I want to try because maybe, maybe there is a part of her inside me too and if there is I want to find it.”
Virgil pulled gently on the young man’s hand and guided him around to perch next to him on the stool and wrapped him in his arms.
“She’s in your every cell, your every breath, Alan. And she would be so proud of you.”
Alan sniffed and tightened his grip on Virgil’s shirt. Virgil unpeeled his little brother’s fingers from the flannel and guided his right hand to rest on the keyboard.
“If you want to play it would be a privilege to teach you, but you need never doubt she is a part of you Alan.”
Alan twisted and placed his left hand on the keys alongside his right.
“Show me. Please?”

I don't know where this came from - probably from pondering the ever elusive math of there being Mercury Seven, yet five Tracy boys.
CW: mention of pregnancy and miscarriage (nothing graphic); mention of a character death (Tracy Mom).
Jeff Tracy randomly talked in my head. He loves his boys so, so much. That's it, that's the story.
MERCURY SEVEN
As far as Jeff Tracy was concerned, he did have seven children - the full Mercury Seven. He just got to meet only five of them - a gift he cherished more than air in a cosmic vacuum, more than life itself.
He knew he wanted to marry Lucy Evans and spend every better or worse the world had to offer with her, till death them did part, some time by the middle of their first date. He actually proposed by their third - going down on one knee and all. It was a whirlwind romance, spinned even faster by him being enlisted and due at an AirForce base, with a clear eye on the ultimate prize - astronaut training. One of the nights he woke up from muffled keening in the bathroom - she was curled on the tiles, obviously in pain. Lucy thought she was cramping, going on her period - it was a bit late, but within a margin for her not to wonder anything else. By the time she made it out of bed and to the sink she was bleeding and dizzy, and in a world of pain. Jeff scooped her up and rushed them to the overnight ER, without waiting for 911 to arrive. That's how they learned they lost a baby they didn't have the time to know and process they had.
They held each other for hours, after, sharing grief and love, and now a newfound fear that their dream of a family may not come to pass. It did. By the time Jeff had to leave for training, they knew they were expecting again. The pregnancy had no complications and baby Scotty arrived just perfect, if in a rush. Decades down the line Jeff would never stop to marvel at the feeling of overwhelming joy and humility, like he was in a presence of a true miracle, when he could hold the first child he got to meet. Not even going to space for the first time or setting foot on Mars could come close. But he would always carry rue in his heart for Scotty's big brother or sister that they lost.
He knew his wife shared the sense of wonder and could never get enough of the heady rush of love. So four more children lit up their world in all colors and sounds of happiness. Their incredible, beautiful boys. His amazing beloved shining through in each one of them.
The seventh child was, of course, the one they never got to have together, when the avalanche ripped her away from their world, tearing his heart out in the process. He mourned them too. The what if of yet another gift of a miracle, lost for good.
Loss haunted, hunted him for eight long years, snarling at his heart, threatening to shatter his soul into frozen shards. Once safely back from his exile, the records of his boys' lives and work would sometimes make his blood run cold again. Every minute account of a barely dodged chance he could have lost a son. The ones they were aware of, and the ones they dismissed (or glossed over). So many it felt, at times, like he could drown in grief. The loss never came to pass, or he wouldn't have survived, but the grief? Oh the grief and fear were real. It took a conscious effort to remind himself the boys were all there, in one piece, tangible within his reach. He certainly never missed a chance to reassure himself with a touch, or a squeeze of the hand, or a hug, or a kiss on the forhead (some way too hard to reach now), or a silent vigil over a sleeping form, or just watching them go about their usual daily routine. He would never again miss a slightest chance to be close to his children, letting the overwhelming warmth and wonder settle in, expelling the chill of the deep space void. Expelling the paralyzing loss of the five precious sons he got to meet again.

Inspired by @riallasheng 's Scott/Alan observation

Sprout
Lucy rinsed her mouth out in the sink.
Pregnancy was the gift that just kept on giving.
The veteran mom pressed her head against the cool paintwork of the bathroom door.
Only twelve hours until the kids' bedtime.
A distant crash had her acting before she had time to think. She swung the door open and almost collided with a child on the way out.
"Oooh Scottie! I didn't see you there! Everything okay sweetheart?"
Scott nodded, but continued to hover.
Lucy waited. She could tell that he was itching to ask her something...or maybe confess - but what, she had no idea.
A moment passed. Then another.
"Mom, are you poorly?"
That threw her.
Her brain fumbled for words.
"Erm...no love, I'm okay."
She did her best to rally a smile, but she could see that her eldest remained unconvinced.
She squeezed his hand
"Really Scooter, I'm fine."
The young boy hugged her. Blue eyes, so like his father's, drifted up to meet her own.
"But I heard you."
Those eyes challenged hers. Daring her to claim to be fine, when he knew better.
Her little boy wasn't so little anymore.
Usually, it was Virgil who took the title of being the worrier of the family, but Scott had never been far behind. The youngster forever trying to fill the shoes of his legendary father. And forever trying to take care of everyone in his absence.
"Now Scottie, you're the eldest. That makes you the man of the house while I'm gone. I'm counting on you to set a good example for the others and to help out where you can. Make me proud, son."
"I will dad."
"Attaboy!"
Jeff would toussle his hair with a fond smile.
And then he was gone.
For how long, Scott never knew. Time had a habit of dissolving into meaninglessness numbers as a child.
Part of him longed for adulthood so it would all make sense. He'd know exactly how long his dad would be gone for. He'd know exactly when he'd be coming home.
Until then, it would be Mom and him against the world. He had to look after her; she was his constant. As long as he had her, the numbers didn't matter. Mom would always be there to love and reassure. Mom would never leave him.
"Okay, Scottie. Yes I was sick, but no; I'm not ill."
She guided her eldest to a soft seat, where they could have this conversation properly then scooped him up closer for a cuddle on the sofa.
"That literally makes no sense." The child puzzled.
"You're sick, but you're not sick?"
Lucy gave a small chuckle, which Scott emulated without really being sure what he was smiling about.
"I don't suppose you'll really remember before Gordie was born? I think you would have been about six when I was expecting him, seven when he was born."
"You mean when you had the huge belly?"
Scott beamed.
Lucy gave a small laugh.
"Yes. Yes, when I had the huge belly. Well, right at the beginning, I was sick then too. Growing a baby can do that."
Scott pondered thoughtfully for a moment.
"That sucks."
Lucy sighed.
"Yeah. It does suck a bit. But, the payoff is that I got you and your brothers at the end of it all."
She squeezed him in again.
"And, later this year, it looks like you'll be getting another brother - or sister." She watched carefully for the eldest's reaction. Life was already pretty chaotic, though there was no shortage of love.
"But you don't have a big belly now?"
Relief washed over the tired mom.
Scott really was a sweetheart.
"Well, baby's still got a lot of growing to do."
"Oh. So how big is the baby? Is it like...this big?"
Scott roughly gestured the size of a newborn with his hands.
Lucy smiled.
"Smaller Scottie."
"Like this?"
The eldest child closed the span of his hands by half.
Lucy pulled out her phone.
"I have an app on here that can tell us..."
Scott rested his head on his mum's shoulder.
"Let's see...11.5 weeks. Baby is the size of a sprout!"
"A sprout?" Scott said, wrinkling up his nose.
"That's funny."
Lucy kissed the top of Scott's head. He smiled at her momentarily before sliding from the sofa so that his face rested upon her lap instead.
Ever so gently, the young boy placed a hand to her stomach and he smiled.
"Hey there Sprout."

Knock knock:
Trick or Treat!
Lucy listened for the little giggles, before wiping her hands dry with a towel. She'd been making devilled eggs for a good part of the morning. And the kitchen sink and worktops were piled up.
She really needed to make a start on clearing and cleaning, but her sons were a big distraction.
"Who is it?" She called out in a sing song voice.
The giggles got louder, followed by a shush ...
... and a ...
"Sorry"
She paused, waiting for more noises, but nothing happened. So she opened the door.
"TRICK OR TREAT!"
Stood before her were three of her sons, all in home made costumes, although Gordon's octopus looked a bit ragged and falling apart, but he insisted on wearing it
Scott was nowhere to be seen, he'd decided that he was too 'grown up' to go trick or treating, so it was John being 'big brother' this time. And he took it VERY seriously.
The 'adult' accompanying them, was a rather sheepish looking Lee Taylor, who apologised for letting his nephews stuff themselves silly with candy.
And Virgil had thrown up everywhere, but still insisted on going out. He had tried to clean the kid up, because part of the costume was in a bag, ready to be washed or thrown away.
Whichever came first.
"So ..." Lee demanded, "... which one do you want? A trick or a treat?"
"You mean I have a choice?" She retorted, remembering their childhood where her brother was always pranking everyone.
"YuP!"
He popped the P with great emphasis.
"Okay then ... I'll go for ... TREAT!"
John, Virgil and Gordon all clapped excitedly, before Gordon handed her a half eaten, sticky toffee apple.
"Treat!" He exclaimed.
The weather started to turn, getting cold and chilly, the drizzle turned to rain. So she ushered everyone inside.
And blinked with surprise.
Standing at the sink, was Jeff, his arms elbow deep in soap suds, whilst Scott was drying the dishes and putting them away.
"Thought you'd appreciate this treat," Jeff explained with a wink, "than a sticky apple."

WIP I remembered it’s Wednesday!
A short bit of a young Virgil and Lucy from what is going to be a fic for Scott’s week of fab five feb and the prompt “Too high”!
- - -
“Virgil, I want you go inside with John and Gordy,” she tried. Less distraction, one less kid she to have to worry about right this second.
“No.” Virgil stood his ground and dug in his heels. “Not until Scotty can come too.”
Contrary to popular belief that mulishly stubborn set to his jaw was all her. There’d be no possibility of getting Virgil to move. So they’d just have to get Scott down.

“Now boys, promise me you’ll be good for your mother. Mind your manners, do your chores - all that good stuff, okay?”
An enthusiastic chorus of “Yes Sir”s - together with Scott’s attempt at a salute - and Jeff was compelled to bend down for one last hug with his two tiny Tracys. For a moment he soaked in the smell of soap in his sons’ hair, the feeling of little arms wrapped around him, and of sticky wet kisses on his cheeks.
His heart ached.
Finally he rose again. “Alright boys,” he said, clearing his throat, “to your duties. Dismissed!”
And with that they were gone, racing past their mother on their way to whatever adventure Scotty had convinced Virgil to go on with him today.
“Stay in the yard you two,” Lucy called after them before walking over to Jeff, holding his hold-all. “I packed your father’s penknife for you,” she said, “just in case.”
Jeff took the bag and kissed her on the cheek. “You didn’t need to do that, Honey. Lee's got all the tools we could possibly need on board.”
“I know,” she replied, shrugging. “It’s just in case.”
He chuckled.
Her favourite phrase.
“Alright then; just in case.”
*
“Promise you’ll write?” she asked as they got to the front door.
Jeff turned back, eyebrow raised.
“Write? Is this Victorian England? We have holo’s; I can just call you.”
“I know,” she said, nodding. “It’s just it’s so far, and comms can be unreliable-”
Jeff laughed. “Those same comms you want to send emails through?”
Lucy scowled up at him. “Don’t be an ass, Jeff! I just meant you’ll be so busy, and trying to match up Moon/Earth timezones and stuff, it’s easy to miss each other. I just thought… just in case… it might…”
She huffed and looked at the ground, as if the right words might be scattered down there, and he felt a fresh wave of love for his remarkable, bewildering wife, whose brain was so much quicker than her mouth; who got flummoxed and tongue-tied even as she was thinking circles around you. Trying to keep up with her was like trying to keep pace with a whirlwind.
But god didn’t he just love trying?
His clever, clever Lucy, unfathomable and completely fascinating.
Gently, he reached out and brushed her flushed cheek, willing her to look at him.
“It might…?” he prompted.
Brown eyes met grey. Something brief and inscrutable passed across her face, then she smiled.
“Well…” She cleared her throat. “I just thought it might be something to look back on one day, when we’re old and grey, remembering when we were parted lovers. Like those love letters you see in movies sometimes.”
“Uh-huh. And you thought I’d be ‘leading man material’, huh?” He grinned, puffing out his chest.
“Shuddup,” she grumbled, batting his arm. “Remind me again, how are you planning to fit that ego of yours inside that tiny rocket?”
“Ouch. Kick a man on his way out the door, why don’tcha?” He staggered, clutching his chest and feigning a grievous wound, eliciting giggles.
“Oh yes, definitely got the ‘leading man’ theatrics down!”
“I’m telling Lee you called his rocket ‘tiny’, by the way.”
She gasped. “You wouldn’t dare!”
An eyebrow. “Try me.”
She went to bat him again but this time he caught her and, holding her in his arms, kissed her softly, tenderly, committing it to memory.
As they finally pulled apart, he saw the flush in her cheek was back. Not ready to completely let her go just yet, he cupped her face in his hand to admire it. He thought of the cherry blossoms in the orchard, just beginning to bud, and how the pair of them had walked together amongst them as he’d shown her the deployment papers. He’d lamented the fact he’d miss the full, floral display this year, even as he thought about what else he would miss...
“Alright Honey,” he said, holding her close, “if you write to me I promise I’ll write back. Write and tell me everything that’s going on at home. I want to hear all about what Meryl was gossiping about at the car-wash, or how much pork has gone up at the market, or exactly how much of an idiot Sheriff Buckley made of himself at the county fair.”
“You’re making fun of me,” she said, pouting.
“I promise I’m not, darlin’.” He took her face in his hands and looked her square in the eye. “I want to know everything. Tell me how Dad’s making a nuisance of himself trying to fix every fencepost around the place. How Mom won’t stop bringing you casseroles and you’re running out of places to hide ‘em.”
Lucy choked back a giggle.
“Write and tell me about every adventure and every scrape the boys get into. Let me know every single thought that goes through that beautiful mind of yours. I want to hear everything. Every moment. Don’t miss out a single thing - write it all. And one day we’ll read them together, side by side in the nursing home, surrounded by grandkids. Okay?”
“...Okay.”
-------------
All was quiet in the villa. Padding softly over to check the lock, Jeff returned to his screen and, after gathering himself together, brought up the hidden file.
The last time he’d looked at it, he’d not been in a good place. There had been whisky. It wasn’t… It was a mistake.
He was better now. His boys had pulled him through.
Together they’d found a new purpose.
It was time.
Taking a deep breath, he opened the file.
“Dear Jeff, how are you doing? I hope Lee isn’t driving you too mad yet. Virgil cut another tooth today…”
One last gift from his clever, clever wife, who’d known that not every love story ends in the nursing home. Who’d realised that one day one of them might need something to help remember the good times.
A contingency plan.
Just in case.

Came across this couple "Dirty Dancing" while skiing down a slope, and thought this could totally be Jeff and Lucy. Scott would have been filming, or Grandma. And then a couple of days later the avalanche happened...

THUNDERQUEERS ARE GO!!!
Everyone already shared their queer headcanons a week ago. So here I am, right on time to once again be behind on everyone else 😃
(This is TOS based btw)
Am I the only one who has a queer headcanon for Jeff? Anyway, he’s bi. Realised it late as fuck though. After he was already married to Lucy and they had Scott. Not that it mattered for the marriage, I just meant that Jeff was an idiot late-bloomer. I image the conversation went something like this:
Jeff: Honey, I think I’m bisexual.
Lucy: Omg, you didn’t know?!
Jeff: You did?! Why didn’t you say anything?!
Lucy: I thought you knew and were just really casual about it!
Jeff *starts hyperventilating* : I think I’m having an existential crisis.
Lucy: … uhm, does this mean that now is a bad time to tell you I’m pregnant again?
Scott confuses me tbh. He has massive straight vibes but I cannot see him actually in a relationship with a woman. I can kinda picture him in a relationship with a man. I mostly like to think that Scott is just as confused as I am 😂.
You may have already seen the video I posted for Virgil Day. But I headcanon Virgil as bi and a demiboy using he/they pronouns. He mostly uses he/him though out of habit and because he doesn’t particularly care that much. I can also see him on the ace spectrum.
I’ve always called John a laid-back pan and I shall continue to do so. My headcanon is pretty much the same as @willow-salix so you can read her post if you want a more detailed explanation. I’m too lazy atm 🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️
Unpopular opinion but Gordon is my token straight 🤷🏼‍♂️. Can’t explain it. Just the vibes I get.
And then this post’s main event: Alan is gaaaaay! The second I laid eyes on that fucker, my brain went: ✨gay✨. I mean, he’s a drama queen in flamboyant fits. Were they even trying to hide it?🤨 Also, may I refer you to the dream sequence in Thunderbirds Are Go (1966)? Because, hello!!!
Tumblr media
Lad looks like he’s going to pride. He’s wearing a rainbow glitter suit, surrounded by pink clouds, waiting for his female friend to come pick him up in her pink car to drive them to the Swinging Star (if that doesn’t sound like a 60s gay club, idk what does). You better believe he was pissed during End Of The Road. Finally a nice lad his age that he is not related to is on the island, and then Tin-Tin swoops in!!!! Like, girl you already have plenty of options, please let me have this one…
Additionally, I feel Alan is a firm believer that gender is a social construct and he doesn’t vibe with the traditional (binary) concept of the male gender. He still labels himself as male (using he/him) because he’s comfortable but with that, but he doesn’t care much what other people perceive him as or call him (unless they’re being purposely offensive).
Early Thunderbirds-days me was still cis-het and complimenting myself for being so emancipated for identifying with the queer character of a show whilst not being queer myself. Oh how the mighty have fallen …
That awkward moment you realise you identify with the gay puppet because you are a gay muppet
Hello rainbow flag my old friend 🥲
And look at that, it’s another Alan essay :)

Logic
“How long do we have before we have to leave?”
Jeff glanced at his watch, before smiling at his wife. “We’ve got plenty of time, twenty minutes.”
Lucy glared at him, starting to push herself up from the sofa. “Plenty of time for you, maybe.”
Jeff groaned. “Really? Again? The bathroom? You’ve got a really creepy fetish, love.”
“Yes, again.” Lucy hoisted herself to a standing position and took a minute to be sure of her balance. “Fact: the human body is seventy percent water. Fact: water always flows to the lowest level available.” A chipped fingernail was wielded to emphasise the point. “Therefore, when a person stands, the water in their body wants to return to the lower altitude, and that,” she concluded victoriously, “is why you always need to pee when you stand up!”
Jeff snorted. “It must be an ovaries thing,” he drawled. “Never bothered me.”
A full waterbottle land on his stomach, eliciting an “Oof!” as he was temporarily winded.
“You’re dehydrated. Drink water.”
Lucy fled the scene as fast as her bulging belly and swollen ankles would let her.
Safely locked in the bathroom, she smiled as the baby started kicking excitedly the second water started running. Hands now dry, she caressed her belly. “Silly Daddy, not drinking enough water,” she crooned. “You’ll teach him all about water, I’ll bet.”
The baby subsided as the flow stopped.
Lucy paused a moment, then experimentally turned on the faucet again. The excited flailing started again. She laughed. “Oh yes, you’re going to be my little water baby, aren’t you?”
There was a tap on the bathroom door. “Come on, Luce, get a move on. We’re gonna be late!” A pause. “And I drank the damn water, and now I’ve gotta go!
Unlocking the door, Lucy laughed. Maybe next time, he wouldn’t laugh at her ‘bathroom fetish’.
