You know tho, it's really nostalgic. I remember watching the first Pokemon Direct at my kitchen table back when XY was announced, and here we are again, just a bit over 10 yrs later, seeing Prism Tower once again. I really can't wait to see it in the game, but it'll probably be August or September when we start getting actual information like it was for PLA.

Very weird to me how a lot of people are talking about Legends Z-A taking place in the current day/future when I didn't get that vibe from the trailer at all? Like, I could totally end up being wrong here, but the trailer seems to me to just be depicting a Blueprint (a pretty old-fashioned PLA-style document, might I add) of a grand urban vision of a Lumiose City that is going to be created.

The segment of the trailer where everything goes blue and sort of "futuristic"-looking, is really just animating this paper blueprint; I don't think it's supposed to be in-universe futuristic tech, I think it's a stylized way of showing the future of Lumiose that the blueprints are imagining. This is backed up by a lot of the promo material mentioning how PLZA will be about redeveloping the city into a place where "people and Pokémon can live together", a goal that is blatantly already accomplished in this vision of the future.

Essentially, the blueprints are from long ago in the past, i.e. the time period where the game is set. And the foundation for the grand Lumiose City we know in XY is laid by these very blueprints, which is what we then see depcited in the "vision" part of the trailer.

As many people have mentioned, there was a massive urban redevelopment of Paris that took place contemporary with when Legends Arceus would've taken place. And that makes perfect sense for the game's setting. Not current day.

Maybe I'll be wrong, maybe there’ll be a future element to the game, but I really don't think that's something we can actually infer at all from this trailer.

So I've been seeing some debate on whether Legends Z-A (it is in fact Z-A not just Z, as stated by the Official Pokemon YouTube channel) is set in the past or in the future so I'm going break this down.

I think the main reason people think it's set in the future is the digital blueprint of Lumiose City, which is of course very futuristic.

But then that digital blueprint changes to an old timey paper one, suggesting it's in the past.

But if you look at the translation (is that the actual language used in the pokemon universe? Can we actually translate writing in other games using this?) It says "Urban REdevelopment plan" meaning Lumiose city already exists. It could be they are redeveloping the city into its modern iteration (which is what I'm leaning towards personally) but until we know more there is no way to tell for certain.

So are we in the past or future? Well . . .

POKEMON Z-A THEORY: IT HAS TO DO WITH PARIS

Ok so: Pokemon legends Z-A has been officially confirmed to be set entirely in Lumiose city via a nintendo tweet. Now there are Three paths they can take: - Urban sprawl, which would probably put the city at odds with zygarde. - They uncover the pokemon equivalent of the most fucked up part of Paris. - Both.

Because somehow despite being set in France, Pokemon X and Y did not do anything with the PARIS CATACOMBS. Imagine running through an underground cave system that was some sort of MASS GRAVE for the people and pokemon who died in the Great War that AZ had to end. Is this EXTREMELY dark, even for Pokemon's standards? probably. But they are bringing back mega evolution after the Gen 7 Mega Dev Entries, so anything is on the table.

This is just a theory.
