“I said I’d be bringing my friend Louise. But my insane, one glass of sherry and she’s dancing on tables, aunt Sue, misconstrues this. She then tells my mother, this morning that I’ll be bringing a ‘special lady friend’,” he pauses, glancing over at her. His eyes land on where she is clinging to the ‘oh shit’ overhead handle with white knuckles.
“No,” Louise chokes out.
“‘Fraid so, four ears.”
“They think we’re dating?” she shrieks.

“Only because you’re reckless! I never know if you’re going to save us or get us killed! You’re so fucking volatile and somebody is going to get hurt!” She’s shouting now. The words come fast and fierce and horrifyingly she feels a lump form in her throat, tears pricking the corners of her eyes.
That’s when she notices the darkening patch on his shirt, how his body shifts, favoring his right side. Her eyes flicker to his and narrow. Solo grits his teeth and avoids her eyes.
“It’s nothing.”
“Like hell it’s nothing.” Her fingers are already reaching out but he steps back, pulling away from her. Oh hell no. She steps closer, yanking him by the shirt. “Don’t be a baby. I’m medic trained for this very reason. Take off your shirt.”

But he just smirks again and it is so infuriating. Apparently he’s impervious to her quips. She hates it. She hates him.
“Something like that,” he replies. All breezy and carefree. Like the asshole he is. Her nose scrunches and her lips purse.
“Dick,” Louise grumbles under her breath.
