If you hate Chris Pratt's voice acting then you better watch the japanese version, because Miyano Mamoru is voicing Mario 😎
Fyi Miyano is the one who voiced Yagami Light the main character of Death Note anime.

I seen the Mario movie last night and I got to say... Everyone had killed their parts, and the reference (the ones I old enough to catch) was also nice. Even I don't even really like princess peach, even she was cool. It cool we gotten to see all of Mario family EVEN THOUGH the (grandpa??) Was the only one who did the "wahoo" plus the famous Mario jump, at least I think so.
Love that it confirmed that DK can use flower powers, WHICH mean that there is a CHANCE to see DK in a cat outfit lol.
And we can't forget about the man himself, jack black aka Bowser. I mean what can I even say lol, you can't go wrong with jack black as a cartoon character
Anyway it was an awesome movie, that was enjoyable.

Beauty and the... Bowser?
Chapter 1
Once upon a time, in a quaint village on the outskirts of the Mushroom Kingdom... a young woman wakes up to the sound of celebration.
Bowser x Fem!Reader
(I picture reader as being an inch or two shorter than Princess Peach, but taller than Mario and about the same height as Luigi)
A/N: Finally, you, dearest reader, are introduced! You don't meet Bowser just yet, but it's coming in chapter 2! Also I'm not even gonna attempt a fake italian accent, but I think crisp rat Mario makes more sense for who he's replacing here, anyway. enjoy :)
Fic Masterlist + Prologue + Chapter 1 (here!) + Chapter 2 + Chapter 3 + Chapter 4 + Chapter 5 (coming soon!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The golden sun shone through the window, the delicate, cream-coloured curtains drawn to either side of the windowsill by thick blue ribbon. The smell of Toadsworth's latest floral tea blend permeated throughout the small cottage, creating an air of warmth and comfort for the two occupants.
By all means, this would've been the perfect way for the young woman to wake up on such a beautiful day. If it weren't for the godforsaken screeches of excitement at the Mario Brothers' visit to the town. The villagers clapped and hooped and hollered as Mario and Luigi strode into town, making the woman in bed groan in frustration, pulling her patchwork duvet over her head.
As if to spite her, Toadsworth pattered into the room, placing his hands on his hips in a fashion that said 'you can't just lie in bed all day because you want to avoid that which annoys you. Besides, you promised to get groceries from the market!'
Not like she could see it, anyway.
At least until Toadsworth tugged the duvet off of her with a strength not befitting of a Toad his size and age.
The young woman curled up on instinct, the cooler air of her room encasing her without the safety of her blanket.
"Get up then, Y/N, we're running low on far too many things for you to put off market day!" Toadsworth said through his bushy mustache, heading to the woman's bedside and pushing her up into a sitting position. "Morning to you too." Y/N croaked, voice still riddled with sleepiness.
Toadsworth poured her a glass of water from the pitcher on the bedside table, handing it to Y/N. The young woman downed the entire thing, taking a large breath of air when she was done. The older Toad placed the pitcher back down and took the glass from Y/N's hand as she stretched, a satisfying cracking sound ringing from her shoulders and back.
Y/N swung her legs over the side of the bed and slowly stood, Toadsworth placing the duvet back to it's rightful place on the mattress. The Toad left Y/N to get dressed, closing the door on his way out. She shuffled over to her oaken wardrobe, the door hinges squeaking slightly as she swung them open. Y/N decided on a loose, white button-up shirt and a sky-blue, calf-length dress with two pockets sewn onto the front. Small, white daisies decorated the hem of the dress, with one larger daisy sewn onto to each of the pockets. As a last touch, Y/N slipped on a pair of white knee-high socks and brown Mary-Janes.
With a final look in the mirror on the inside of the wardrobe door and a quick finger-comb through her hair, Y/N nodded to herself and closed the wardrobe, leaving the room.
Toadsworth sat at the round kitchen table, mumbling to himself and marking places on a map spread out in front of him on the tablecloth. Y/N smiled to herself at her adoptive father's behaviour. 'He must be getting restless again', she thought to herself. Toadsworth always brought out his maps of the kingdoms when he felt the village had become a bore. He didn't go very far most of the time, choosing to only leave for a few days at most because 'my knees aren't quite what they used to be!', as he liked to say.
Y/N grabbed a muffin from where they sat on a plate on the counter behind the elder Toad, giving her father a kiss on the cheek as she picked up her brown messenger bag from where she had left it on her chair and slung it across her chest. Toadsworth smiled and looked at the young woman as she double checked for everything she needed before turning to leave.
"Ah Y/N, don't forget to-!" "Don't forget to get a peach pie from Mama Toad, I know!" Y/N interrupted Toadsworth in a fond tone. "You know, maybe one of these days you could tell her you like her, that's one adventure I'm dying to see you go on." She teased, raising one of her eyebrows with a sly grin on her face as her father sputtered slightly, warmth rising to his cheeks.
Y/N put her hand on the bronze doorknob of the front door, but stopped short to take a deep breath. She turned her head to Toadsworth once more. "See you in a bit!" Y/N said, turning the knob as a more determined look came over her face. Toadsworth waved in reply, choosing to turn back to his maps to avoid further teasing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The streets of the village were slightly louder than usual, normally more peaceful citizens trying their best to get Mario's attention with offers of baked goods, trinkets, and thanks for his services.
Y/N never really did understand the excitement around the Mario brothers, but particularly Mario. To her, Mario's do-gooding seemed surface level, only really taking crises seriously if it concerned Princess Peach or if the princess called on him for a specific task. The Mushroom Kingdom might not have been the greatest place to live with this more negative opinion, she found.
To make matters more annoying for Y/N, Mario had become infatuated with the idea of proving his worth to her. 'What a fragile ego he has. He can't take the fact that some random girl doesn't think he's that big of a deal? What a mighty hero, indeed.' Y/N found herself thinking.
Sneaking through the slight crowd that had formed, Y/N walked briskly, wanting to avoid any chance of Mario trying to show off.
"Y/N!"
Well there goes that.
Only looking up for a brief second, the young woman met Mario's gaze from across the street. "Shit." Y/N muttered to herself, shuffling between Toads with slightly more force than before. Unfortunately for her, Mario is annoyingly persistent once he has a goal in his mind. The Italian hopped onto a nearby crate to get above the crowd, then landed slightly behind Y/N as she kept up her brisk pace. Mario broke into a slight jog, his brown shoes tapping on the pavement until he found himself at her side.
"Y/N, hey! What're you up to? So glad you're out today. I thought I could show you some more of my tricks if you don't mind!" Mario blathered in an attempt to get Y/N's attention. His chest puffing out in pride reminding her of a peacock.
"Hi Mario. Going to market. I do mind." Y/N's answered shortly, not sparing a glance toward the shorter man beside her. What Y/N did pay slight attention to was the slight glares thrown her way as she ignored the famed hero. With a slight thrust of her head in a 'what?' motion and a stare thrown towards the Toads she passed, they quickly looked away, not particularly keen on starting an argument with the woman.
Whoever said that Toads were the nicest people you'll ever meet has clearly never been subject to their passive aggressiveness.
After a minute or two of being forced to listen to Mario blabber and come up with reasons she should stop and watch him perform like a circus monkey, the man was stopped by a few Toads wishing to give their thanks to him in the form of a jar of fire flower tea.
As soon as Mario stopped, every other Toad swarmed around him, seeing it as an opportunity to talk to him. Y/N, on the other hand, saw him stopping to kiss babies and shake hands as an opportunity to bolt. Mario called after her, but she ignored it. Y/N knew he wouldn't push any of the Toads out of his way no matter how much he wanted to. His reputation was his biggest weakness.
Picking up the pace once more, Y/N finally turned the corner that led to the market. The woman slowed down to a walking pace, the market seemingly calmer than the main street. Deciding to not take the chance of Mario's presence making the market flooded with people, Y/N made her rounds quickly. 'Eggs, milk, spices, fruits...' Y/N went down the list in her mind, purchasing products and making her way to the last stall on her trip.
Greeting Mama Toad with a friendly smile and a wave, Y/N made her way toward the baker. The smell of bread, chocolate, and fruits amalgamated pleasantly in her nose as Y/N stopped in front of the stand.
"Well hi Y/N! What can I get for you today?" Mama Toad greeted kindly, the older woman wiping her hands on her green and white apron. "Well, I'd love some of your milk bread, and I have a special request from my father." Y/N grinned in a slightly teasing motion, pretending to look over the spread of baked goods as Mama Toad brought a hand to her flushed cheek.
"What exactly would Toadsworth like from my little old shop?" Mama Toad bubbled shyly. "He'd like one of your delectable peach pies. He hasn't stopped bugging me to buy one since he last had it, and he insisted that he wouldn't find any other peach pie as appetizing!" The younger woman beamed, listing the praise Toadsworth had told her in secret.
With a larger, slightly lovesick grin, Mama Toad set to packaging the bread and the pie for Y/N, making sure to be extra careful when placing the treat in a baker's box and tying it off with a bit of sage green ribbon. Y/N thanked the older Toad, handing her the right amount of coins before turning to sneak back home.
"Tell Toadsworth I made it with extra love!" Mama Toad called to Y/N as she neared the street corner. Y/N simply waved back at her in return. Turning the corner, Y/N was met with Mario surrounded by a crowd as he smashed empty crates with his raccoon suit, the man having originally saved a leaf to show off as part of his peacocking to Y/N.
"...I think I'll take the side streets home." Y/N muttered to herself, jogging across the street once Mario's back was turned.
Once safely on the street running parallel to the main road where Mario was, Y/N took a slightly relieved breath and dropped her shoulders slightly in relief, looking over her shoulder at where she had just come from one last time.
Before promptly bumping into someone.
Snapping her head back to the front, Y/N opened her mouth to apologize, her features in slight surprise and panic. Before she was able to apologize, though, the figure jumped back and started apologizing profusely. With the increased space between them, Y/N immediately recognized the figure as Luigi.
Y/N didn't mind the younger Mario brother as much, finding his more quiet and humble nature endearing and even enjoyable if she ever found herself in conversation with him.
Deciding that he had panicked long enough, Y/N called Luigi's name, just loud enough to catch his attention over his, very fast and frequent, apologies. The man quieted, opening his eyes that were squeezed shut. "Oh Y/N! It's-a funny running into you here! In the village... where you live..." Luigi said awkwardly, relieved that he hadn't run into a complete stranger.
His cheeks were flushed when he faced Y/N, out of embarrassment, she supposed. "Hey Luigi. It's okay, I wasn't looking where I was going. That's not on you." Y/N assured, offering a gentle smile and patting Luigi on the shoulder. The green-clad man breathed out, his posture relaxing, the flush on his face darkening slightly at the contact.
"Listen, I-" Luigi began, his eyes not meeting Y/N's, playing with his fingers. Before he was able to finish, a Toad on the outer edge of the crowd watching Mario called out to him.
"Hey! Luigi! Come here! Look at what your brother's doing!" The Toad beckoned, the rest of the Toads beginning to wave him over as well. A slightly sad expression took over Luigi's face. Y/N, however, quickly remembered herself, starting to walk past Luigi quickly, only stopping to squeeze his shoulder slightly, muttering "please don't tell Mario which way I went," quickly before rushing away.
Luigi watched her leave for a moment, groaning in slight frustration at himself. "Luigi, come on!" the Toads called.
"I'm-a coming, I'm-a coming."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The journey home was easy enough with all the residents of the small town residing on the main street keeping Mario busy. Y/N did wonder what Luigi was going to say, but put it out of her mind for now.
Twisting the brass doorknob and entering the small cottage, Y/N found Toadsworth napping on top of his maps, a now cold cup of tea sitting beside his hand on the table. Smiling to herself, Y/N tip-toed to the small kitchen behind where the older Toad was resting and set down her messenger bag full of groceries along with the paper bag of baked goods from Mama Toad.
The young woman carefully put the groceries in their rightful places, then moved to grab a blanket from the living room couch. Placing the knitted fabric over Toadsworth's shoulders, Y/N looked around for tasks to keep her busy while her father slept. Unfortunately, the cottage was as organized as it usually was.
With a quiet sigh, an idea came to the young woman.
Grabbing a couple of leftover rolls, a small jar of crab apple jelly, some grapes, some cheese, and a glass bottle of water, Y/N packed a small picnic basket, placing utensils and a picnic blanket on top before closing it.
Y/N left through the back door that led to the back garden. Opening the fence door, she trekked through the woods until she came to a clearing at the base of a tall hill that Y/N had affectionately named 'Worf's hill' as a young child, before she could properly pronounce Toadworth's name.
Y/N slowly hiked up the grassy hill, listening to bird song coming from the surrounding trees and the buzzing of small bumblebees from the wildflowers that decorated the ground. Coming to a stop at the peak of the hill, Y/N set down the blanket and food, snacking as she looked at the gorgeous scenery. Y/N felt content.
'Isn't there more than just this? Why can't I go out and see everything there is for myself?'
The thought came to Y/N unwanted. While she really did think that, Y/N was frightened. Frightened that if she saw everything that the world offered, that she would never want to go back to the quaint village on the outskirts of the Mushroom Kingdom, to the cozy little cottage with the back garden and the smell of new floral tea blends.
Shaking her head, Y/N hurriedly re-packed the basket, squeezing her eyes closed to avoid the tears that wanted to escape at such thoughts.
Standing up, Y/N took one last look at the almost fully set sun before her. The young woman hesitated for just a moment, before taking a deep breath and heading back down the hill.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There were many things Y/N didn't expect when she reentered her home, one of them being Toadsworth no longer sleeping at the kitchen table, and instead standing outside on the front steps with a packed bag and a cloak looking at his pocket watch, as if waiting for someone.
"What's going on?" Y/N asked, furrowing her brows in confusion. Toadsworth turned toward her, clicking his pocket watch shut and fixing the straps of the traveller's pack on his shoulders. "I've decided I'm going on another trip. It'll only be a few days, I'm taking part of the peach pie with me so you don't have to worry about that getting stale, you've got your books and the garden to keep you busy, and-" Toadsworth started explaining.
"This is so beyond last minute! Were you just going to leave without writing a note?! What if I hadn't have come back just now?! Was I just supposed to know that you up and went on a trip?!" Y/N yelled frustratedly, eyes watering slightly in anger. At her exclamation, Toadsworth frowned at himself, trying to think up a way to properly explain his passive thinking. Unable to come up with anything, Toadsworth relaxed his brows and looked up at Y/N.
"I apologize. I suppose... I was feeling very impulsive and I didn't think about how you would feel at my sudden absence, especially considering how I came to adopt you." Toadsworth apologized. Placing her hands over her face, Y/N took a few deep breaths to calm down, wiping the slight tears with the heels of her palms. "Okay." Y/N finally spoke, now calmer than before.
"I'm going to make my way to a town that's west of here, only about a day or two's ride away." Toadsworth spoke softly, "Yoshi is coming with me, I'm just waiting for him to arrive so we can set off."
"Okay. Thank you for apologizing." Y/N said, sniffling once, "I guess I'll wait with you until he gets here." With that, Y/N sat down on the steps next to where Toadsworth stood. The elder Toad sat down as well, hesitating before carefully placing a hand on Y/N's bicep and rubbing it slightly in a comforting motion. Y/N looked at him, then suddenly swept Toadsworth up in a tight hug, making him squeak in surprise before relaxing into the embrace.
The pair parted to the sound of Yoshi's quick steps on the road, the green dinosaur stopping in front of them. He looked at Toadsworth almost expectantly. "Oh right, yes of course." Toadsworth chuckled slightly, reaching into his pack to procure an apple for Yoshi. Said creature extended his tongue, snatching the red fruit right out of Toadsworth's hand, causing the older Toad to make a noise of complaint at the drool now covering his hand. Y/N giggled at that, making Toadsworth flick a bit of drool at her, making the young woman laugh harder while raising an arm in defense.
The pair stood up, hugging one last time before Yoshi bent over to allow Toadsworth onto his back. "Remember, I'll be back in a few days. Try not to get into too much trouble." Toadsworth remarked, settling himself on the dinosaur's back. "I'll try. Be careful. Try not to tweak your back old man!" Y/N jested as Yoshi began to trot away. Toadsworth rolled his eyes, waving goodbye to Y/N as he and Yoshi got further down the road in the woods. Y/N watched until they were out of sight before turning and re-entering her home to get ready for bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Now then Yoshi, we should be coming up to a fork in the road soon, I'll show you which way to go." Toadsworth said, looking down at the map haphazardly unfolded in his lap.
Looking at the darkening sky, Toadsworth frowned at the presence of large rain clouds. 'I couldn't see those at all before. A sudden storm would be very unfortunate to run into without shelter.' He thought to himself before focussing back on the road ahead.
The fork in the road was in sight, though still several paces ahead. A crack of thunder sounded, making the Toad and Yoshi jump in fright, stopping Yoshi's consistent stride. Another loud clap of thunder sounded, this time bringing a bolt of lightning down on a thick, tall tree that marked the fork in the road. The tree fell heavily onto the right pathway, making Toadsworth groan in frustration.
"It looks like we have to take the long way around, Yoshi." Toadsworth spoke loudly over the storm, pulling his cloak hood over his large head. Yoshi nodded, taking the left road. Toadsworth began folding the map back up before a gust of wind blew through and forced it out of his hand. The elder Toad tried to grab it, but the wind blew it far above his reach and out of sight, as if mocking him.
With more caution, Toadsworth began guiding Yoshi down the road.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a while of being out in the storm, Yoshi halted in his steps. "What is it?" Toadsworth asked, "why are you stopping?"
Yoshi gestured forward with his snout, revealing a tall and imposing castle in the distance. "I don't... I don't really remember a castle being here." Toadsworth muttered.
Ignoring him, Yoshi took off in a run, fed up with being out in the storm and wanting to take whatever shelter was offered.
The pair entered the large gates with caution, Toadsworth hopping off of Yoshi's back to walk beside him. They stopped at the front door. Taking a hold of the oversized knocker, Toadsworth used all his strength to knock. A few moments went by before the doors swung open, the two jumping back just in time to avoid the heavy doors.
"He-hello? Is anyone... home?" Toadsworth called out nervously, stepping into the building. Yoshi hesitated behind him, only entering when another thunder clap sounded, though he stayed firmly by the entrance. "We don't mean to intrude but uh... there's.. a rather large storm outside. We're wondering if we can.. stay the night?" Toadsworth called once more, growing more nervous at the lack of response.
A grand fireplace to the left of the room suddenly lit, causing the Toad to whip his head towards it. Even with his brain screaming at him that something was wrong, Toadsworth's reason was thrown to the wind at the offer of warmth. Yoshi squawked out at him from his place at the entrance as Toadsworth settled onto the ornate rug in front of the fire. Toadsworth sighed in comfort, allowing his nerves to settle. Until the room shook with giant, loud footsteps.
Slowly turning around, Toadsworth gasped and scrambled backwards in fear at the sight of the giant figure in front of him.
Tall, at least ten feet. Large, sharp fangs bared. Scarlet red hair tucked behind sharpened horns. Scarlet eyebrows furrowing above fiery crimson eyes. A huge green shell and a tail, both covered in spikes. Lastly, terrifying claws on the figure's hands and feet.
What made him the most scared, however, was the angry, booming voice.
"You are trespassing." The figure growled out, taking large, slow, intimidating steps towards Toadsworth. The older Toad bumped against the brick of the fireplace, now panicking with no place to go.
"W-we really di-didn't mean to intrude, we can absolute leave right now i-if you want us gone, you don't have to worry-" Toadsworth stuttered. The figure roared in anger, causing Toadsworth to shut his mouth. The figure leaned down so he was face to face with Toadsworth.
"You are trespassing on ROYAL PROPERTY." The figure roared, blowing Toadsworth's styled mustache backwards. Toadsworth's eyes shot open in shock. Opening his mouth to apologize once more, he was cut off by the figure grabbing the Toad in his giant fist, making Toadsworth gasp out at the sheer strength with which he was being squeezed.
"You should be sentenced to DEATH for your crime." The figure roared, beginning to walk toward a large set of stairs across from the entrance, "but you've caught me in a rather merciful mood. You'll simply be imprisoned. For Life." Toadsworth began to struggle in a panic to get away, but the figure only tightened his grip.
Yoshi, who had been ignored by the figure, began backing away toward the still open doors, before turning heel and running while the much larger figure was focused solely on Toadsworth.
Two figures on an outside balcony watched as the dinosaur raced back the way he came from.
"Should we alert King Bowser that there was another?" The first figure spoke to the other. "Would you like to tell His Majesty that he made a mistake and let one get away?" The second figure replied, almost in disbelief.
The first figure thought it over for a moment. 'It certainly wouldn't go over well', he thought, shaking his head to his companion.
"Good decision." The second figure replied once more before turning and heading inside. The first followed quickly behind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Oh man that was a long ass chapter. I don't really like breaking chapters down, so the rest of the chapters are probably gonna be about as long as this one. Anyways, I think my writing schedule for this story is gonna be a chapter every other day, but it'll depend on my motivation. I'm so excited for Bowser and Reader to meet, and I'm sure that's what you're all waiting for as well!! Hope you enjoyed this chapter :)
