"I miss you. I miss the warmth of your frame. The gentleness you reserved for me and me alone.."

"You're hurt again, Megaronus!" Optimus had complained and worried over any small wound of Megatron's. How much had he longed for Megatron to stop fighting and just live peacefully? To see Megatron relaxed and not worry about the next fight that could potentially be his last?

"Haha! My dearest Orion, these are but a few scratches." Megatron had cupped his cheek. His thumb rubbed soothingly on his faceplates.

"I know.. it's inevitable. I just don't like seeing you hurt. You are precious to me." Optimus had then leaned in to kiss each and every scratch and superficial wound on Megatron's frame. He remembers how warm Megatron was, the purring of Megatron's engines, and the deep satisfaction and contentment Megatron's field expressed shamelessly.

"If you continue to kiss my wounds like this, I may purposefully allow myself to get hurt. If just to feel the softness of your lips against my frame." Megatron had smiled teasingly, but Optimus knew better.

"Megatronus!"

Optimus remembers. He remembers how, after properly treating Megatron's wounds, they would lay in Megatron's berth. Talk, kiss, and cuddle. Late into the night. Until inevitably, Megatron would fall into recharge. Optimus following soon after. Always finding the time to trace patterns on Megatron's armor. Admiring it. Appreciating how well it protected his warrior again and again. Praying to Primus, it would continue to do so once more.

Somehow, even while falling into recharge after Megatron. Optimus would always wake up before him. Megatron's frame was always warm. So warm and comforting against his own. Strong arms would wrap around him, and soft kisses would be pressed against the back of his neck. A gruff good morning following soon after.

Now Optimus wakes up alone in his berth. It's cold. He is now a Prime. He can't show weakness. He has to be a leader. He has to protect an unknown planet his spark can't accept as home. He has to continue this war. Wake up. Analyze data. Fight Megatron. And then recharge. Over and over. Every day, small parts of himself crumble. Optimus misses Megatron. He misses how things used to be. He can't even cry.

Primes aren't allowed to cry.
