First, let's talk about the bouquet of white chrysanthemums, orchids and blue hydrangeas

Meaning: White Chrysanthemums: represent grief and are a way to pay respects to the deceased, especially family. Orchids: represent strength and beauty in the face of adversity. They can symbolize his resilience and the beauty he brings to the lives of those around him. Irises: are a symbol of hope and wisdom. They can represent his ability to persevere and make wise decisions despite the difficulties he has faced. Blue Hydrangeas: can symbolize deep emotions and understanding. They can represent both the grief he feels due to losing his family and the understanding to push through regardless. Description: This is a young man who has faced a series of hardships in life, lacking guidance and living day-to-day without clear goals or ambitions. He has lost both his parents and his older sister in car accidents, leaving him with no immediate family except for his goddaughter. Despite not even having a girlfriend previously, he now has to adapt to caring for a baby without much, if any, support. It's heavy, but he carries it extremely well. He's a very loving person and has been a great father thus far, all things considered. He's hard working, compassionate, and above all else wants to do his family proud. He is so tired though. He doesn't find himself smiling often. Poor thing.

Now, let's talk about the Forget-me-nots

Meaning and why this flower was chosen: For one it's kind of an association thing; he's a very soft and gentle person, but also upbeat and dedicated to the people he cares about. He would also like the color and shape of the flowers, and he'd enjoy having a bunch around his living space just because they're pretty. Symbolism wise, too, he loves deeply and is loved deeply and is missed deeply. In a sense he's like a personification of the flowers, almost, but not quite. I just associate forget-me-nots with him a lot. Description: He's cheerful, excited to be alive, and loves the world deeply, always wanting to know more about it. He's very good at seeing the brighter side of things, and is endlessly encouraging and supportive, though not overbearing and pushy about things. He's also deeply curious, and will dedicate himself to learning more about what he's interested in at any given point, and he has many passions he's developed over the years besides his main one. He's almost kind of cheesy with how he expresses his affection because he's very genuine with it, but his loved ones know that about him and only love him all the more. Also he's agender. No gendered terms like 'brother' or 'boy' for him pls

Could you tell us some more about your Lizardstripe? It always annoyed me that the only cat in canon to point out double standards regarding kits was also the horrible mother that they blamed for all of Brokenstar’s issues. I’m glad she’s portrayed more sympathetically here though, with her friend group and role as Bluestar’s lawyer.

Anything out of BB!ShadowClan takes like, a Star Wars opening scroll of text to explain to an outsider and that's how I LIKE IT

It's my personal mission to inject nuance chemical into every woman demonized by Canon WC. Brokenstar isn't bad because he had a sad childhood or something, it was literally generations of culture turning toxic and demanding a cosmic reckoning from which he was born, moulded by, and ultimately embodied of his own free will.

Anyway, Lizardstripe.

She is gonna get her own summary at some point (I kinda want to do a ShadowClan Month at some point for the biggest ShC characters, like Nightstar, Russetfur, Stumptail, etc), but here's shards for now;

She's related to old Finchflight in some way. The timeline is getting reduxed and Finch is VERY dead by the time of TPB.

So she's either a child of his, or a niece. Finch is Yellowfang’s age (mid teens in TPB), Lizard is Bluestar's (10-ish)

She was a young mom, less than 2, she met the Forget-me-nots after she was already pregnant.

She wasn't actually raising Brokenstar, just suckling him. Ragged was doing that.

Lizard was still not a great mom. She didn't enjoy it at all, and was often getting bored and frustrated

She would often bring the kittens out into the woods on training exercises, activities they were TOO young for.

Runningkit, Deerkit, and Tanglekit were always covered in dings, bumps, ticks, and things that kept putting them in Yellowfang’s den as a result. Lizard was talked to more than once for this

When Brokenkit joined in on this, mysteriously, he was NEVER covered in dings. Like he was developing faster and was more agile than the others. Deerkit was jealous, Tanglekit thought it was AWESOME

Runningkit was developing a bit of a bully streak, realizing that he could exploit this by getting his sibs mad at him, and then hiding behind Broken

Lizard was always being forced to step in and take control of the situations by trying to break up the Dastardly Duo, but then would be OVERRULED by Raggedstar, who wanted his son to hang out with his friend

If Yellowfang didn't notice it herself, she would definitely learn through Lizard that these two should NOT be allowed to multiply their terror with power

But, that's more about them than Lizard.

She's a lot more than just someone's mom. She's a friend of Bluestar's, and the ShadowClan representative in the Forget-me-nots!

WOW her ShadowClan sense of humor is sharp. She can be VICIOUS

She often finds herself having to smooth her jokes over after making a comment that's too mean. What's just part of ShadowClan humor can be cutting to cats in other Clans

Oakheart is actually the one cat who never seems to get hurt, "i like your funny words lizardman"

She likes teasing Bluefur, she's just so easily flustered! And she cares so much about other people,

"Stars, you make me want to yack up a hairball, Bloof."

When Bluefur earns the name Bluemoon (unsure how yet) Lizardstripe b'awws that her nickname is going to be too cool now.

(In Clanmew, it's Luparfaf, Luf, vs Luparshom, Lum)

Lizardstripe and Barley Senior are the two smartest members of the group. Barley is all about logistics, schemas, building and working out plans for meeting up and not getting caught.

Lizardstripe knows what's going on in people's heads. She can be a manipulative mastermind, when she REALLY wants something.

I think she gave Blue and Hoprunner a lot of good advice on how to achieve their ambitions, but, she wasn't really interested in that extra responsibility herself

"What and have to deal with Raggedstar's wishy washy ass and his angelic brat more than i already do? I'd rather kiss a thistle."

What Lizi really liked in her life was the pleasure of it all. Sneaking around, teasing Bluefur, helping out Barley, wrestling Hoprunner. Playing games with her Clanmates, staying late at Gatherings.

She loves her freedom, the ability to decide where to spend her time

She was the first of the Forget-me-nots to die, a year or two after Bluestar took power, in a ferocious battle with WindClan.

Current draft: Talltail's son, Flytail, killed her violently in Heatherstar's Last Stand, the decisive battle that truly "ended" the Mothermouth Moorland War.

After that battle, ShadowClan lost a strategic area and could never regain their foothold. Raggedstar tried to surrender the next year, which was when Brokentail killed him.

Lizardstripe and Mudfoot being lost in the same year was one of the things he and Runningnose cited to each other as "reasons why" WindClan had to pay

If they died for nothing, if SO many had just fought in a war they lost... then it was all for nothing.

Warriors don't accept peace deals.

They fight, they fight to the last cat standing.

I think the news hit all of the Forget-me-nots hard. They hadn't met up in a while, their ambitions driving them apart over time, but... that didn't make it less difficult. No one thought she would be the first.

I think she's my favorite of the little friend group tbh, I'm fond of the Angel Lawyer Friend.

Hey there! So you know the official art of Ralsei titled "Floralsei" where he's surrounded by flowers? I've been interested in the possible symbolisms behind these flowers and wanted to share a bit of my analysis with you haha. (I know there's a chance that merch isn't canon, but we also get "Weird Route" foreshadowing through the Line Stickers, so who knows? ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

In the picture, I think we can identify several flowers such as 1. "Red Roses", 2. "Lily of the Valley", 3. "African Violet" , 4. "Hibiscus",5. "Snapdragons" and 6. "Forget-Me-Nots". (link to pic: https://imgur.com/a/NXAs1jv) I'll try to list the symbolism of each one here…

"Red Roses": These flowers are placed prominently in the center, forming Ralsei's scarf and adorning his hat. While they appear as dark pink in the artwork, I interpret them as representing red, especially considering Ralsei's default scarf is called the Red Scarf. Red roses are traditionally associated with romantic love, which aligns with Ralsei's one-sided affection towards Kris.

"Lily of the Valley": This flower symbolizes purity, happiness, and sweetness. It carries diverse symbolism and is often used in various settings, such as weddings and religious ceremonies, to convey messages of hope, purity, and the joy of new beginnings.

"African Violet": (I'm not entirely certain about this, but the shape seems to resemble the flower in the pic…) This flower signifies loyalty, devotion, and faithfulness. In addition to representing faithfulness and fidelity, African Violets can also convey admiration and respect, especially when given as a token of high esteem.

"Hibiscus": Often associated with beauty, femininity, and delicate charm, the hibiscus is known for its stunning appearance and vibrant colors. It symbolizes delicate beauty, youthfulness, and a sense of joy.

"Snapdragons": These flowers embody both deception and gracefulness. According to legends, their unique appearance with "dragon mouth" shapes can represent deception, while others view them as symbols of grace and openness. (Deception seems particularly fitting considering Ralsei's mysterious nature and the secrets he keeps from Kris and the others.)

"Forget-Me-Nots": These flowers serve as a clear reminder of the phrase "Don't Forget." (It reminds me of Ralsei's Line Sticker where he's depicted singing "Don't Forget.")

Oh, I didn't actually know about this! Some Ralsei fan I am, lol :P It's very pretty though, I've just seen that it's a print on a T-shirt, which I'm now sorely tempted to purchase because of how good it looks! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, it's appreciated :)

Moving on to your analysis of the different types of flowers... there's not too much I can really add here I feel - flowers and their meanings are sadly not my forte. However, a lot of the meanings you transcribed here do definitely relate to Ralsei and his character. Of particular note is the Snapdragon and its allusion to "deception" - as you rightly state, our favourite fluffy boy is definitely withholding crucial information from everyone, both about the plot at large and his own character.

You know what else caught my eye, actually? I'm just checked because I wasn't sure if I was misremembering, but Lily of the Valley is actually poisonous, and can cause skin irritation if touched directly, and its berries can cause serious harm or even death if ingested. It's a stretch, but applying this to Floralsei (what a name, by the way!) you could perhaps posit that whatever secret he's keeping, it's so dangerous it might cause irreparable damage if it were to ever come out. Or perhaps it's a warning - he may be pretty, but get too close and you'll get hurt.

With that said, however, I don't actually think Ralsei is secretly malicious or anything like that. My current theory is that he's not telling us stuff for two reasons - one is that he's directly serving the narrative by revealing pieces of vital information at critical moments in the story, as evidenced by the dramatic reveal of the Roaring and the Titans JUST before Berdly creates a new dark fountain in the cyber world; and the other is that he is trying to protect his friends from information that they might find distressing, and/or won't be relevant to them unless the worst case scenario happens (which it's obviously gonna... but I digress).

I'm sorry I couldn't really add any more to this discussion, because it is quite fascinating! I'd be quite interested to see what others think, if any further insight can be provided on this topic!

Some important Link Click observations PT 4 (1, 2, 3):

As per usual with these posts, I will be discussing any mild or major observations I and other people have made about the donghua, so spoilers for S1 and the S2 trailers! Any artwork I mention can either be found in the previous observation lists or posted to my blog under like tags.

Of course with the recent release of a new PV for S2 (set to air next year) there's much to be poked and prodded at.

The trailer opens up with a clock just past 12:20.

After the brief shot of Qiao Ling is a funeral scene, presumably for Lu Guang considering how the previous season ended, as well as the first S2 PV. Though fans have tried to speculate that it could've been for Emma or another important character (especially with the picture being partially hidden), that was shot down when recalling the lack of people Lu Guang has been seen close with, which makes the vacant room not all that surprising. It's still up in the air, but it's most likely for Lu Guang.

Another thing fans have pointed out were the types of flowers seen at the funeral. There's no sight of any forget-me-nots (flowers corresponding with Lu Guang's star sign from previously released official art), and the only flowers present are the ones for Cheng Xiaoshi's star sign (Aries).

As was hinted at in the previous PV, Cheng Xiaoshi was arrested for the stabbing and is shown in a jail cell.

Cheng Xiaoshi is seen training with Liu Siwen (the martial arts trainer seen in a flashback in EP8 and prominently in EP5.5), learning to use a knife in a fight. It's unknown if this is before or after the stabbing incident.

It's not shown who Cheng Xiaoshi is speaking to for Captian Xiao's (the police chief) help, but it's likely Chen Bin, who was seen with the chief before in S1.

Liu Min's father is briefly seen on call with someone and demanding someone's cellphone, though it's unclear who.

not me forgetting what his father looked like and having to go back to edit this so people don't think he's a new guy🙃

There are 3 new faces spotted in the trailer: the first man with the buzz cut who's seen fighting Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling, the second glasses wearing man who mentions Liu Min being in the hospital and speaks suspiciously, and the third man who's seen in the new S2 visual and is implied to be the red-eyed villain.

Xiao Li is briefly shown bleeding from his head after an attack, presumably after being hit by a car in the same shot.

Funnily enough, the possibility of him being hit by the car calls back to the storyboards and rough animations the series director previously released (Weibo and Twitter accts linked in PT3), one of which showing someone narrowly avoiding being hit by a car.

Three other animations that were released were one of Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang driving down the road (similar to a storyboard sketch of the same theme and likely teasing the duo's overseas trip), another short one of Lu Guang that feels like it could be for an opening or ending (or simply to appease fans of his), and one of Cheng Xiaoshi being consoled by a ghost or vision (?) of Lu Guang.

Last point about the new PV, the glasses wearing man is the last character to appear, telling us he's someone very important to the plot. It's up to speculation who he is and if he has any connection to the trio.

The flashback Cheng Xiaoshi has of his parents during the earthquake arc partially shows his parents walking away from him, as we all know by now. This probably isn't of importance, but his mom is seen wearing heels while his dad is walking barefoot.

Bilibili's description for S2 gives us some interesting bits of info, such as confirming that the killer is responsible for multiple killings that took place years before Emma's. It also describes the killer as being, "a mysterious youth." We can gather that he's young from the PV and visual, but we have yet to find out how young.

Ramen conspiracy go brrr

The S2 visual, though quite minimalistic, has a great deal of details. One of which being the trio's apparel. While Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling don black suits (likely in lieu of the funeral), Lu Guang is in his usual outfit seen throughout the series.

Mirroring the trio, particularly Cheng Xiaoshi's position, is the red-eyed villain, whose face is finally (and partially) revealed. The colored waves of lines in the background of him are very similar to the depiction of his powers in the new S2 PV.

Aside from picking out his few visible physical characteristics and apparel, one most notable detail is the V on the pocket of his sleeve, and a V sticker near the bottom of his backpack. It could be written off as a design choice, but it could've easily been INPLICK's (series character designer) way of hinting at the character, as a V was also prominently highlighted or singled out in the first S2 visual, as well as the angel and demon official art (at the bottom of the clock). It's unclear if there's more meaning behind the letter outside of mere foreshadowing of a character.

Another interesting thing that was pointed out in the first S2 visual by fans are the colors. On the side where Cheng Xiaoshi stands, aside from the V on the building, we see the streaks of bright colors strongly resemble the colors used representing the villain.

The trio's birthday art and videos have all been released, Lu Guang's being the most recent from Oct 24. Lu Guang's, however, has an ominous easter egg in the form of forget-me-nots grouped at his abdomen where most fans remember him being stabbed at.

I could talk at length about the short series, but as I stated before, the series isn't considered canon or pertinent information. Despite me highlighting the tarot card episode.

1. BURN by pumpkinpaperweight. Tagatha arranged marriage/fire an ice AU!! I love the dynamics and the suspense!

2. Gin Mills And The Goods by pumpkinpaperweight. Also tagatha, but a gangster AU this time!! The dialogue is great and the action and plot is very accurate to the actual time period.

3. Angelica And Forget-Me-Nots by anomalousGreenhorn. Horavan, nicphie, and hestadil are the main ships. The characters and plot are awesome!!

4. Sinner’s Gold by MickMackNickNack. Horavan, nicphie, and tagatha, but the story is mostly a murder mystery. I love the intrigue and suspense!!

One of the funniest AUs I’ve come across, and I’m learning how to be an honorary Canadian because the setting is so immersive! Hockey figures in, and Rey and Ben are Canadian Mounties. Rey’s brother doesn’t know she’s dating Ben. I laugh my ass off every time I read the latest!

Vampire AU! This is a short 2-chapter fic, but that makes it a wonderful afternoon read or bedtime read. 

Lilia is really gifted with verse; it’s almost more of a prose/poetry at times. 

But this story is SMUT/EROTICA and for 18+. This is a “bedtime story.” I’m not ashamed; I like my smut reads! I can’t write smut to save my life, but it doesn’t mean I don’t like a spicy read occasionally!

So fun! So good!  I really love how Ben Solo is written in this one, and Leia!! his mom is saucy - so much like Carrie!

Rey’s car breaks down in a small town and Ben is a mechanic with low self-esteem. I’m now up to the part where they are going to Finn/Poe’s wedding, I think. 

Fast pace and funny, but kinda tugs at the “feels” too, which is a nifty trick to pull off. Subscribe!!!

Gladiator Kylo Ren - oh, I want to get back to this one and am sooooo busy this weekend! But the mystery and action of the first couple chapters I read was enough to hook me! 

It’s popular, but again, it deserves the kudos. Very well written from my limited start on it.

Remember?

We all have them. 

Memories.The turning points. The images that project in our head in black and white or sepia-gold. The moment everything changed, and we wondered if we could ever be the same again. 

Fast forward a handful of years. That memory reel is a little fuzzy now. Once, we encountered Jesus and the power of the Gospel, but now we’re struggling to string together everything that happened after that. A whirlwind of academia, romance, career, and children finally touched down and we’re not in Kansas anymore. Everything is strange, fuzzy and foreign. Where’s the path we started on? 

In the crime drama, “Memento”, the fictitious character, “Leonard” struggles with the clouded memory of his wife’s vicious assault, as a result of an injury to the head. His short-term memory loss erases each previous day. Leonard agonizes over the investigation of the murder of his wife and finding the man responsible. 

His cheap motel room is littered with polaroids. These reminders resemble his fractured memory. His arms have since been permanently inked with forget-me-nots. Every day he enters the mid-day sun after a careful review of what he knows to be true. As Leonard comes closer to discovering his wife's killer, he must piece together the mystery each and every day.

Isn’t that exactly like the journey of today’s disciple? Do we suffer from gospel amnesia? 

Lately, this tiny verse has been on my mind:

“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits”

                                                                   -Psalm 103:2

It became pretty clear to me how often we forget God. Forget the authority of Jesus in our lives. How often our hearts harden and shut themselves up. Worst of all, how we forget the benefits of the Gospel and our relationship with Jesus. It’s not as simple as we like to just know God and enjoy Him forever. Why? Sin. 

Sin bewitches our hearts like amnesia fogs up the mind. It gets into the very center of who we are. Into our hearts. It steals our joy, twists our desires, distorts our emotions and most of all pushes out the Truth.

So how do we resist evil, keep our hearts soft, keep reverent and enjoy what the Holy Spirit began in us that precious day when we first believed? It is my argument that a major discipline of today’s follower of Jesus is commemoration. Remember the cross, where Jesus was broken and bleeding, for you. Remember that He OBLITERATED sin and death. Once and for all. Remember that He did it because He loves you. Remember that He wants your heart.

So meditate on His words, feast on the Truth found in the biblical story, chew on it day and night. Push out all distractions.  Paste His praise and benefits on your walls, sharpie them on your arms, but most of all -make them front and center on the display case in your heart. 

Forgetfulness is the enemy of your soul. Remind yourself of the Gospel, daily. Remember. Remember. Remember

Forget-me-nots

Meaning and why this flower was chosen:

For one it's kind of an association thing; he's a very soft and gentle person, but also upbeat and dedicated to the people he cares about. He would also like the color and shape of the flowers, and he'd enjoy having a bunch around his living space just because they're pretty.

Symbolism wise, too, he loves deeply and is loved deeply and is missed deeply. In a sense he's like a personification of the flowers, almost, but not quite. I just associate forget-me-nots with him a lot.

Description:

He's cheerful, excited to be alive, and loves the world deeply, always wanting to know more about it. He's very good at seeing the brighter side of things, and is endlessly encouraging and supportive, though not overbearing and pushy about things. He's also deeply curious, and will dedicate himself to learning more about what he's interested in at any given point, and he has many passions he's developed over the years besides his main one. He's almost kind of cheesy with how he expresses his affection because he's very genuine with it, but his loved ones know that about him and only love him all the more.

Favorite Books of 2017

It’s 2018!!!! Last year I read 20 books, so in honor of 2017 I picked my favorite reads out of this 20 books. Hope you’ll meet your next read.

1. The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This book was such an emotional rollercoaster for me. It made me cry, laugh, jump. As the characters grow you grow with them. It’s so beautiful how Armentrout lets you connect with the characters so well. Their pain was my pain, and their now was my joy. This book will forever be in my heart and is just one of those books which you wouldn’t mind to reread over and over again. 

2.Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Shadowhunters!!!!!! Obviously at least one of the new books couldn’t stay out of this list. I was at first worried to start a new series after finishing TMI. I was so connected to the TMI characters that it was hard to imagine they would not be the main characters anymore and that we only would know glimpses of their life. However, I couldn’t bear to not submerge myself in the shadow world any longer. I’m so happy I did. I fell in love again with all these new characters, and there was more of the old characters in this book than I had imagined. Bravo, Clare, bravo. I can’t wait to read Lord of Shadows. 

3. Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

Goodreads summary: Darcy Patel is afraid to believe all the hype. But it's really happening - her teen novel is getting published. Instead of heading to college, she's living in New York City, where she's welcomed into the dazzling world of YA publishing. I feel every aspiring writer should read this book. I loved the perspective of having the two stories in the book. Seeing Darcy doubts and struggles as a young writer, and how she grows and becomes more herself and that reflects on her writing. Then we have Lizzie’s world which is full of mystery, and death. The only thing I’m crossing my finger for is a sequel. 

4. Happily Ever After by Kiera Cass

Summary: Meet Prince Maxon before he fell in love with America and a girl named Amberly before she became queen. See the Selection through the eyes of a guard who watched his first love drift away and a girl who fell for a boy who wasn’t the prince. This gorgeous collection features four novellas from the captivating world of Kiera Cass’s #1 New York Times bestselling Selection series

It’s been a while since reading a book of the Selection Series, and how I missed it. How interesting to read the background of some of the most loved characters. I just wished I could forget this series so I can read it over again and feel like it is the first time. 

5. Beware That Girl by Teresa Toten

Wow, just wow. This book is filled with surprises. In various occasions I literally jumped out of my bed from the “What the hell” reaction. It was just wonderful, it had the right amount of plot twists. The ending was so much better, I didn’t see it coming. I literally recommend it for anyone who likes mystery, plot twists, twisted stories. 

6. The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace

Explores life & all of its love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, & inspirations.

A lot of people don’t like this type of books because they don’t consider it poetry. However, it’s up to people’s taste. I liked it, it made me cry in some of the entries, and it motivate me in others. I feel that if you’re open enough and willing to try you can give it a chance.

2. I’m not really sure. I always pictured like this forested area in a small town where there aren’t many people but it’s really nice or maybe in the mountains. I don’t know exactly where that place is but somewhere like that :)

3. God, there are so many I am going to say currently my favorite show is Over the Garden Wall I really love the animation and music plus the characters are cute. Greg and Wirt remind me a lot of my sister and me. I remember watching Gravity Falls and Mabel and Dipper had a similar feel to them so I love it :”””^)
