Me: “Maybe it’s unrealistic to headcanon Bones as desperately horny but unable to get any. Dude is CMO, right? Authority figure, pretty eyes, hands of a surgeon, etc.?”
DeForest Kelley, ca. 1982: “Lol, what do you mean ‘headcanon.’”

It's Valentines day, so I guess I'll share an idea I had that I may or may not actually write. Kirk is known for almost always getting romantic attention from women. What if Dr. McCoy starts to fall in love with a woman the landing party meets on another planet, but she gets enamored with Kirk. The thing is, he's pretty much just being his charming self and doesn't really love her, neither does he pick up on McCoy's jealousy. After they beam back up to the ship, Kirk finally notices that McCoy seems down. The doctor tries to tell him to forget it, but Jim doesn't let it go. He feels bad when Bones tells him; after all, he wasn't in love with her anyway. Bones half-jokes that no women will ever notice him with Jim around, but says not to worry about it because it probably wouldn't have worked out. Jim says it's her loss.
