Marauders/Emeralds Era Characterisation/Builds/Backgrounds in my fics

-I’ve seen a few newbies looking for head-canons to try out in their fics. Feel free to use any of these.

-there is some variation, of course, plus some of my fics are set at the younger Hogwarts ages, but usually in this order from tallest to shortest as adults:

Remus Lupin (6’ 1”-6’4”) - typically an inch or two taller than James, but rarely quite tall. Lanky, long-limbed with curly dirty blond/light brown hair. Sometimes, he’s stronger than he looks, other times he’s a wet noodle. Disabled (usually physically, but sometimes with Tourette’s or Epilepsy). Introvert. Classic literature/fantasy novel buff. Neutral Good. Welsh. Bisexual with a preference for men. Smokes occasionally, prefers weed.

James Potter (around 6’) - athletic with strong upper body, solid but rarely super muscular. Wears glasses, intelligent, and has ADHD. Chaotic Good. Messy curls. Wide open music taste, but always Queen and a sucker for a ballad. Deep voice. Extrovert. Deeply romantic. Usually Desi via Euphemia, but love the Latinx James hc. Bisexual>Pansexual (used interchangeably for James). Non-smoker.

Barty Crouch Jr. (around 6’) - athletic, but slim. This man has no arse. Stronger than he looks. British, but love the hc that he’s Italian. Burnt out gifted kid, occasionally tech savvy. Heavy-metal and emo fan. Usually has ODD. Extrovert. Chaotic Evil. Omnisexual or Bi with a preference for mascs. Often with tattoos and/or piercings. Heavy smoker.

Dorcas Meadowes (5’9-5’11) - athletic, or slender with some curves. Black, British, and the most intelligent of the group. Long braids. Ambivert. Love her characterisation as a good Slytherin. True Neutral. Listens to R&B, but secretly loves pop music, mostly sapphic artists. Occasionally has Depression. Neither butch or femme exclusive, bit of both. Bisexual or Lesbian. Non-smoker.

Evan Rosier (5’9”-5’10”) - painfully average floppy-haired blond white boy with a tan. Neutral Evil. Solid build. Grunge music fan. Piercings rather than tattoos. French or British. Ambivert. Demisexual. Prefers edibles or shrooms to smoking.

Regulus Black (5’7”-5’10”) - usually a hair taller than Sirius, but he was shorter by a bit once or twice. Chin-length wavy hair. French. Writer (poetry) and/or musical prodigy. Introvert. Slim to average build. Lawful Evil. Anxiety, OCD, and/or Autistic. Classical music or jazz, nothing with lyrics. I have written him as intersex (or trans in a few WIPs), but usually a gay cis man. Non-smoker, mostly. Social drinker, but overestimates his tolerance.

Sirius Black (5’8”-5’10”) - most attractive amongst the guys. Usually slim, but strong and flexible. Highly intelligent, but easily bored and uninterested in academics. Artistic (painter) and/or musical (percussion instruments). Rock/grunge junkie. Shoulder-length hair and tattooed. Chaotic Good/Chaotic Neutral. Sometimes ADD, often emotionally stunted with abandonment issues. Heavy drinker, occasional smoker.

Mary McDonald (5’8”-5’10”) - depends on the fic, but always in heels so she seems taller. Curvy queen. Most attractive and socially aware of the entire group, extremely trendy, designs/sews a lot of her own clothes, high-femme. Prefers soulful music and light pop. Popular, but keeps her emotions buried. High expectations. Does not suffer fools. Lawful Neutral. Black, British, and extroverted. Natural hair. Social smoker and drinker. Neurotypical. Aromantic or lesbian.

Lily Evans (5’6”-5’8”) - very curvy to plus-size. Super long dark red hair, often braided with a fringe. Academic overachiever, Lawful Good, pretty, and fiery/defensive when confronted. Fantasy book nerd. Introvert. Neurotypical with anxiety. Pop music girlie. Artistic (usually sketching). Welsh/British. Non-smoker. Bisexual>Pansexual (used interchangeably for Lily) or Femme Lesbian, but rarely wears make-up.

Marlene McKinnon (around 5’6”) - athletic/ stocky queen with thick thighs. Blonde, usually in a ponytail and shoulder-length with fringe. Scottish/British. Music-obsessed (mostly 70-80s rock) and lives in band tees and Docs. Tattooed. Extrovert. Chaotic Neutral. Social smoker, but rarely. ADHD. Butch lesbian who loves eye-liner. Occasional short skirt to break Dorcas’s brain.

Peter Pettigrew (5’5”-5’7”) - stocky/plus-size, straight blond hair. British. Logical and strategic, but struggles with abstract concepts. Chess player, comic book collector, video game/movie buff, and weed fiend, but non-smoker. People-pleaser and supportive of his friends, but ambivalent around strangers. Ambivert. Asexual, unlabeled, Questioning.

Pandora Lovegood (5’-5’3”) - always petite and slim. Long blonde hair, usually loose or in elaborate half-updos (like Phoebe Buffet in Friends). Hippie vibes and high-femme. Usually Autistic. Ambivert -depends on who she’s with. French. Animal lover, compassionate, high-strung, a gossip but rarely maliciously, collects crystals. Pansexual. Non-smoker, but open to experimentation. Rarely drinks.

i think sirius is so fucking loud and fun and adventurous in every situation but when he's alone with remus in their flat he gets so soft and quiet and sleepy

they're very touchy but not in the making out every second its more like their fingers are always touching and they're shoulder to shoulder or remus has an arm around sirius' waist at all times

sirius really helped remus with his confidence and self respect

remus encourages sirius to go wild at the club because he loves watching him have fun but the moment someone tries to hit on sirius or dance with him he's running behind remus like 'get him boy' and remus goes into guard dog mode

their favourite cocktails are sex on the beach (sirius) and a negroni (remus)

their dream is to live in cottage in the country and own some chickens

sirius is a gamer, he loves playing online with james until the early hours of the morning and sometimes remus—who has insomnia 100%—wanders out into the living room to get a glass of water and sees sirius curled up in his gamer chair with a blanket around him and he's grumbling to himself at the screen

sirius paints remus nails for him every week with a new colour so they match

remus braids sirius hair for him when its wet so it dries curly

they always shower together but its never sexual, its literally just for the intimacy (plus sirius loves remus' hands in his hair)

remus is very insecure, he just doesn't think he's attractive and even though he has no doubt about sirius' love for him he doesn't love himself a lot and sirius always gives him confidence boosts and if he's having a really shit day he'll pamper him like crazy and help him write affirmations to put on the mirror

speaking of, sirius writes remus little notes that he leaves around the flat and in his bag and in his sock drawer to make him smile

nsfw ahead: their sex is usually slow and drawn out because they don't want it to end, but they get competitive sometimes. remus has a little goal of how many times he can make sirius cum in one session and he always wants to beat it

remus only bottoms when he's stressed

they wear each other's clothes CONSTANTLY

they have a date night every two weeks where they pick something out of a jar and do it for a day together, and they never get bored of it

and as for remus and regulus friendship i love this hehe:

they're quiet best friends, they love reading together and then they'll send each other unhinged tiktoks that only they understand

judgey besties

they get coffee together and bitch

they're both on booktok, along with evan and mary, and they hate the discourse on there

regulus and remus play dnd together every thursday night with barty, dorcas, marlene and lily (dorcas is the dm)

they're both massive nerds okay

they drag everyone to comic con multiple times a year and freak out over the authors they see and buy too many pop figures

Fic idea I'm hoping will pique a writer's interest and manifest lol

2nd war against voldemort but mostly everyone is alive...

Quick general lore:

-james and lily survive but were in a magic induced coma from Regulus' doing. When voldemort got to the manor he thought they were already dead but lily's love still rebounded the killing curse for harry.

-sirius still goes to azkaban but not for 12 years

-regulus raising harry up until hogwarts. Then transitions to moonwater raising harry

-the malfoys become spys for the order through lucius and Narcissa

-"disowned" draco after 5th year (for his safety) he lives with andromeda

-I recently saw a HC that Mary is Dean's mom and I'm in love with it. (Ignoring canon of his mom being just muggle)

-Alice is in better shape than frank and is able to leave st. Mungos. She's selectively mute.

-platonic Narcissa/Alice. Narcissa has been secretly visiting her at the hospital.

So the actual fic idea is slighty plot-less and is mostly oneshots surrounding the lore (so there's not really an end to the story): For safety reasons some of the order have to hide out at grimmauld place for the summer.

For the adults its nothing but TENSION and animosity. They assume the kids will be the same and everyone sits down with their respective teen/teens to explain that they all need to get along

Once everyone settles at grimmauld, to the adults suprise, the teens not liking each other is fake and they all get along (some more than others *cough drarry cough** 😷).

Ron and draco are basically besties

Hermoine and draco love to nerd out together

Pansy and ginny love to gossip with each other

Ginny/Luna

Also Luna is the friend-group's little sister and everyone is protective of her

Platonic maybe romantic Neville/blaise

Drarry has zero shame outside of hogwarts or the public eye. Their friends are use to it but the adults are shell shocked.

...

An order meeting just finished and the adults leave to check on the kids..

Sirius noticing drarry's sitting arrangement: "I beg your pardon!?" Remus follows his gaze and chuckles only to get elbowed.

"I fail to see what's funny, Moony!" Sirius turns to point an accusatory finger at a shock Regulus "this is your fault somehow!"

Regulus throws his hands up in defeat "of course you think it's my fault!" they go back and forth as James walks in.

"What's all- oh" he blinks owlishly at the scene in the living room. Sirius looks away from regulus to James.

"Can you believe this prongs!?" James' face is unreadable as he blinks again. This time he looks over at a blushing regulus who's avoiding eye contact.

James clears his throat "I can actually" his gaze still unwavering in regulus' direction.

Sirius' mouth clicked shut as he took a slow step back. Looking suspiciously from James to regulus and back to james. His jaw dropping in dramatic realization.

"Son oF A BI-"

"Whats all this?" Lily inquires as she takes in the group, absentmindedly stirring her tea. She pauses midway to take a sip as she looks into the living room.

She cooes, tears brimming her eyes as Mary, Narcissa, who has her arm around Alice, trail into the entryway behind her.

"Oh my little hazza" she sniffles leaning her head against Mary's shoulder. Mary hides a smirk into a sip of her own tea. Sharing a knowing look with remus.

Narcissa holds back her own tears "My sweet, Dragon" her hand rests against her chest, subconsciously pulling Alice in closer. Alice hums, resting her head on Narcissa's shoulder. Her face softening as she notices Neville and Blaise's own close proximity. Her usually glazed over eyes coming into focus.

Regulus clears his throat as he exuses himself, speed walking out of the room.

"Regulus? REGULUS" Sirius swats a now laughing Remus in the chest as he runs after his brother.

"Regulus, get back here!"

....

In the living room, the teens look over at the commotion.

Ron's brows furrow in confusion "what's all that about, now?" He turns back to Dean who shrugs. Everyone else giving the same gesture as they looked around at each other.

Luna hums dreamily from her place on the ground. Leaning her head against ginny's leg as she turns a page of the quibbler "old love can be just as complicated and young love" she concludes.

Silence fell over the group. They gave the grown ups another glance before promptly getting back to their own respective conversations.

They'll deal with that later on in the summer

okay so. the group is basically the hufflepuffs; caradoc dearborn, edgar bones, amos diggory, hestia jones, and the ravenclaws; benjy fenwick, florence and her boyfriend, and bertram aubrey. emmeline vance (gryff) hangs out with them a lot, as well as davey gudgeon (slyth). mary and james sometimes hang out with them, getting on with them and mary being close to emmeline, but isn't really part of the friendgroup since they hang out with others more.

most of them are straight, athletic, okay in classes but puts socialising above academics. your standard popular people (at least when i was in school). caradoc and benjy are in love but caradoc would never want to be openly gay or in a long term relationship with a guy so they mostly try to ignore their feelings (benjy less so). they're literally like cedric's friend group? like that small scene we get of them, just lounging around, subtly making fun of harry.

davey is regulus and evan's roommate but he's like the himbo people make james into. very bubbly, social, happy, a little dumb. regulus hates him. davey does not realise that.

I've talked about emmeline a lot, and why she hangs out with other people rather than being in mary/lily/marlene's friend group (there is no drama/hate, its just who she grew closer to in first year). but shew does split her time between this group, her roommates, and sybill & pandora

bertram aubrey i do not have much hc for. he's just There. your standard guy. had a crush on mary for a while, was her first date. she did not want another.

florence is an icon. she is narcissa without the family trauma and lesbianism. close friends with emmeline, goes to all her band's gigs. wanted to be a healer. her boyfriend is literally ken.

benjy fenwick is very gay. dated peter for a bit. made out with sirius a few times. is deeply in love with caradoc. seeker on ravenclaw quidditch team. secretly listens to the beatles.

hestia is a year above the marauders but hangs out with people in the year below (like dorcas). dated edgar for a while. the cool, popular girl. would be accused of being a 'pick me' in todays society.

amos diggory. the nerd. purely because he's the smartest and tries the most in class, he's really not that nerdy. is keeper on hufflepuff quidditch team and was a prefect.

edgar was chaser on hufflepuff quidditch team. rugby lad vibes. wanted to be an auror but didn't get the grades so he joined the order, not having a backup plan. from liverpool, bonds with james over that.

caradoc is very closeted and has no desire of changing that. deeply in love with benjy. middle class. catholic. chaser on hufflepuff quidditch team and was captain.

All your thoughts on Walburga Black please

Thank for this ask, I apologize for the incoherent mess Imma bout to vomit out.

First and foremost, I do not think nor agree with her (and in part Orion) using harmful spells on Sirius and Regulus. Using the cruciatus curse on her own kids???? Sorry we already have villains like Voldy and Umbridge. I hate Walburga being made into some pure evil cartoon level villain to her sons. I think she loved them. I can't say it was healthy but the Black family is complicated, no *family* is complicated. And I am not saying she wasn't abusive in a way, but I lean more it was generational trauma she imposed (orion would have as well), along with emotional/mental abuse. They leave their own marks and can be enough to want to leave a family. I mean look at well intention, for all accounts 'good' parents but are super controlling, people have ended up leaving that family as well (I say this as I've seen people share their personal lives and this be one reason why. Which is valid too.) Like praising the child that was behaving well while also throwing insult to other child, 'why can't you be like X'. But enough about her and how she'd have raised the kids. I love her having aspirations but it was cut short, forced to marry Orion. Keeping blood pure and all that jazz. Though I do also like her wanting Orion as well but I tend to go for the former. She was a potions master or at least wanted to be, it was one of her fav subject. She taught the boys early on how to make potions. She also played with Sirius specifically with the piano. Sirius was her fav child, apple of her eyes. She was so proud of him, even when he rebelled and ran off, part of her was proud of how strong her son was. Though she'd not speak it aloud. (Maybe in time she would have but life didn't allow it.) Her angry dictates her at times, she is more expressive in emotions than Orion. Which annoys her, she wants to see his emotions. Not saying she can't completely hold her emotions back, but just that she is more prone to outward emotions. Orion will look at something with disgust while she'll do the same and say it aloud too. She's a goth queen and Bella so took inspo from her fashion sense. Hahahahhaa. Wally was also an excellent duelist. Ruthless. Her relationship with her brothers is..hm, she is envious of Alphard, getting to be born a man and having different expectations. She was firstborn of her line, told she *must* wed well then must help carry the Black family line. Also Alphard had a more carefree (my hcs okay) personality while she thought too much and couldn't be like him. Cygnus was like an annoying little brother she ignored until he was older and less annoying. But she and Al were highkey mean to him. Taking advantage of their older siblings status. RIP Cygnus.

She totally would have messed with/bullied Tom Riddle, hahahaha. "Knights of Walpurgis? Fucking nerd." /joking, maybe.

She's the most gorgeous woman and knows it. Is a bit of a clean freak which she loosens up for when it comes to potions though she's still; careful not to make a big mess.

So sorry this took so long! I had to work on it in between back to back shifts at work. Let me know what you think of these!

Tattoos & Styles I HC The Marauders & Co With (and this time someone asked for my brain rot!)

James

Okay, so James is definitely a pincushion. He absolutely let Sirius use him as a practice mannequin when they were first learning how to tattoo so he’s covered in varying different tattoos of different styles and skill level. I think James has kinda always been covered in Sirius’ art, bc he absolutely let Sirius draw on him during class. So when ink pens turned to tattoo guns, James and his zero fear of permanence didn’t bat an eye at being used as a practice dummy.

On his right forearm, he has a matching tattoo with the Marauders. It’s a stag’s head, with a rat sitting on it, the Sirius constellation between the antlers, and a halfmoon behind it.

On his right bicep, he has a half sleeve. I HC James as Desi and Hindu, and that tattoo is a Mehndi design James created with an elephant in the foreground. He had Sirius do it, ofc, and it took like 4-6 sessions to get it done because Sirius was absolutely fixated on making sure it was perfect

Regulus gives him a stick and poke (like a legit one, not an ink pen insert and a needle one) and it’s of a stag with a cat playing in its antlers. It’s on the inside of James’ right ankle. He’s constantly pestering Regulus about doing more

When Effie and Monty pass (of very very old age and only that of course), James has Sirius create a memorial piece for them. They incorporate a lot of meaningful things in it for James; one of Effie’s own Mehndi designs, a crow (the messenger between the lands of living and dead as well as Effie’s favourite animal), Monty’s favourite book quote written in Punjabi, and a bunch of little symbols that represent them both. James and Sirius both sobbed through that entire tattoo. It rests right on top of James’ heart and spans most the left side of his chest

James is kind of a mess of different styles and skill levels, and is basically just covered in a bunch of small tattoos. He collects one on every holiday, pretty much any time Sirius is bored, or whenever something significant in his life happens. He’s just a living sticker book of art, basically

Marlene, Pete, and James each have their childhood house numbers tattooed on the inside of their left wrists. James’ is 421

Sirius

Sirius still has their runic tattoos and the chest tattoo, because I cannot physically make those not a thing. I love them so much

Down the back of their left arm, they have the cycles of the moon

Paw prints of a wolf and a dog, everywhere. Side by side down their spine, around their runic tattoos, down the side of their legs, etc.

Banding. There’s so much banding. Esp on their forearms! From super thin to super thick banding, it’s all over Sirius’ body. They have one set of banding that goes around their waist and it drives Remus crazy

Magic tattoo or not, Sirius absolutely has the Marauder’s Map footsteps all over them

Obviously they have the Marauders Tattoo too. It’s on the right side of their ribcage.

I think a lot of Sirius’ tattoos that they didn’t do themselves are runic. Protection runes, mostly, but all kinds of different runes in multiple runic languages (I HC Sirius as being a total Ancient Runes nerd)

All the tattoos Sirius did do on themselves are more like doodles than actual tattoos. Something popped in their head, they had time to spare, so they did it real quick. There’s not a lot of thought behind those ones

There are a bunch that are representative of the people in their life, though. Like they’ve got Regulus’ constellation, Alphard’s constellation, Andy’s constellation. They’ve got rat paw prints and deer hoof prints, James’ quidditch/footie/lacrosse jersey number, chess pieces with whiskers or a tail, chocolates stacked on top of books, etc.

They’ve got their own kind of memorial tattoo for Effie and Monty (they didn’t feel like they could use Effie’s Mehndi design because they’re not Hindu and there was a lot of guilt and stuff they needed to deal with before they could even bring themselves to do the memorial tattoo and James was ready to lose his mind because when his mum said that Sirius was her child no matter what, she didn’t mean that they were only her child if they became Hindu themselves. There were lots of conversations about that)

There really isn’t much open space on Sirius’ body lmao they just constantly tattoo over things and all sorts of chaos

Remus

Where Sirius is very chaotic with their tattoos, Remus is very methodical. It’s not that his tattoos can be read like a book or anything, he just puts a lot of thought into his tattoos. He dedicates limbs and areas of his body to certain things. He doesn’t just get an idea and slap it somewhere. It might be a control thing, it might not be, who knows. It’s just the way he does things

Has the Marauder tattoo on his left thigh

You know the chest tattoos with the hands? Remus has one, except the left hand is holding a can of petrol and the right one is holding a zippo

Remus’ right sleeve is almost patchwork, but it’s like a blended patchwork? I’m not sure how to describe what I think of when I think of his right sleeve, but basically, it’s a significance piece. His right sleeve is basically the places in his life that have left an impact on him. The house in Wales where he grew up, the fork his Mam swore up and down was lucky, the couches in the Gryffindor common room, and the brickwork fireplace. Candles from the Great Hall float all around his arm, the spot James showed him behind the Quidditch bleachers where he carved his name into the wood when he was high, the broken piano in the Shack that Sirius always tried to play, the door number to Sirius’ and his first flat, the uneven second hand kitchen table with tea cups on it they put in their kitchen. The castle itself. The forest. Everywhere that makes an impact on Remus’ life gets immortalised on his arm.

I am a firm believer that Remus would refuse to get anything wolf/dog related inked, but you bet he has stars all over. Sirius’ constellation is tattooed over his heart

I’m also a huge believer that Remus is a classics nerd, so his left side is dedicated to classic mythos and literature references. He’s got gods and goddesses and stories inked into his skin like it’s his arm that tells their stories, not the books themselves. He’s got Hades and Persephone reaching for each other between the worlds, Orpheus and Eurydice, and Achilles, Patroclus and the Trojan Horse. He and Regulus have a whole geek out when they realise they each have a mythos tattoo

Similarly to his mythos sleeve, I think Remus, especially growing up in Wales and with Hope as his Mam, give off big mythological creature nerd vibes (excluding werewolves, obvi). Like you cannot tell me that little bitty Remus Lupin was not a dinosaur kid. So his right leg is all mythological creatures. Kind of on theme with his sleeve, a lot of them are Greek, like Chimera, Pegasus, and a Sphinx. But he also has an Afanc, Tylwyth Teg (Welsh interpretation of Fae/Faeries), and an Adar Llwch Gwin (a griffin-type of bird, with the head and wings of an eagle and of a cat)

His left leg is sort of open, it’s where he puts things that don’t really have a “place” or when he runs out of space on his sleeves

Peter

Marlene, Pete, and James each have their childhood house numbers tattooed on the inside of their left wrists. Pete’s is 439.

Has the matching Marauder’s tattoo with James, Sirius, and Remus on his left bicep

He’s not necessarily opposed to getting more tattoos, but he pretty much just gets them with his friends. He feels like he’s too indecisive to just get one

Marlene

Marlene’s tattoos are chaos. There’s no rhyme, reason, or order to them. They could be super meaningful or they could be a rabbit wearing a fancy suit with a top hat balancing on a unicycle and frogs stuffed in the pockets (that one’s on her left thigh. she has no recollection of when or where she got it)

She has identical outline of cats around both of her nipples because she thought it’d be hilarious to have a “titty tat of a kitty cat!”…I’ll give you three guesses as to who did that for her and the first two don’t count.

Marlene, Pete, and James each have their childhood house numbers tattooed on the inside of their left wrists. Marlene’s is 465.

Marlene is the kind of person to walk into a shop and go “I have £100, what will that get me”. Her body is hers to decorate and she’s doing it with a fuck ton of permanent stickers

She has a matching tramp stamp with Evan, Barty, Dorcas and Tillie. It’s the absolute worst thing she has tattooed on her and she adores it.

She’s really just covered in flash work. There’s some traditional tattoos, with old school card suits and flowers on her shoulder. There’s neotraditional pieces, with the overlapping sun and moon on her hip. There’s lots of fineline, a dragon wrapping around a bouquet of poisonous flowers on her sternum. There’s a wacky sort of tribal/geometric half sleeve on her right calf. She’s got fun little watercolour pieces decorating her arms. She’s got a blackwork geometric piece that goes around her stomach that’s all negative space and shading details and no one can agree one what everything is or isn’t (she won’t tell anyone the answers either).

She has a very tiny snake and lion behind each of her ears

She has a mandala tattoo that goes across the back of her head, but you can only see it when she has an undercut in her hair

Mary

Mary is a fun one. She’s definitely a tattoo fiend, but while she’s not methodical like Remus and Regulus are, she’s not chaotic like Barty and Marlene are with them.

She’s got a lot of different things, a bunch of muggle references, a lot of Wizarding references

Something about Mary just screams “forest” piece to me. I think she’s got a sleeve that’s all themed after the Forbidden Forest and it’s all done in realism. Very spooky but also very beautiful

Not to make this heartbreaking, but if canon compliant Mary got one tattoo before she obliviated herself, I think she would have gotten a tattoo of Hogwarts with a compass, because even though Hogwarts was the source of her trauma and pain, a part of her would always feel at home there. So when she knew she was going to obliviate herself, she got herself something to find home with, should she ever need it

Solar System. Mary strikes me as a closeted Astronomy and astrology nerd. I think she’s got a solar system tattoo, straight down her spine, and a galaxy tattoo on her ribs, and then maybe the astrology signs somewhere?

Lily

Lily, loml, she’s a watercolour babe 10000%

She doesn’t have a ton of pieces, but she gets a few every now and again

Fineline watercolour girlie for sureeee and we love her for it

She says she doesn’t like floral pieces, but she has one on her sternum, however it absolutely does NOT have lilies in it

Miss Girl absolutely has one of those fineline tattoos with the stack of books with a tea cup on top of them and the steam looks like magic, you know the ones I’m talking about? And it’s like in her inner forearm right by her elbow

Has a matching butterfly tattoo with Mary, Lily’s is a Swallowtail

Regulus

Has a bottom lip tattoo that says “CUNT”. It was his first tattoo and his second ever act of rebellion against his parents (his first being his nipple piercings). Barty came up with the idea to have them all write down a word and then pick it out of a hat and that’s what they’d get tattooed. Barty and Evan could not stop laughing when Regulus pulled out his.

Regulus is very similar to Remus in a way. His tattoos are all very organised and thought out, minus a few impulse ones with his friends or Sirius and the Marauders

Regulus really favours abstract, geo, and blackwork styles, with a bit of fineline influence in some pieces. He doesn’t have a single colour tattoo, strictly black and grey.

His left arm is all bold lines, sharp angles, heavy black work, and lots of negative space. He got it right after he got unofficially disowned, used the bank account his parents cut him off from as a last “fuck you” to them and it kind of represents his inner turmoil during that time of his life. He did the sleeve in one session, it took 13.5 hours and his artist took more breaks than he did. If that gives you an idea of how his mental state was at the time

His right arm is lighter, less harsh lines and negative space, more open linework. Lots of geometric patterns that feed into each other shoulder to wrist. There’s still some inverted shading and negative work, but for the most part, it’s fairly open. There’s a lot more diversity in his right sleeve than his left, stacks of shapes and a bunch of 3D shading, the linework seems to twist and turn with his arm, rather than go against the grain of his body like his left does.

His chest piece is his absolute favourite of all his tattoos. He and Barty started on it almost immediately after he got the all clear from Drs/Healers after his top surgery. The tattoo is of a Boomslang snake, and it weaves in and out of his surgery scars like it’s entering and exiting his body from under his skin. It slithers all the way around his chest, ribs, and back, before it curls over his shoulder and it’s head comes right to his heart. It’s jaws are open, and it looks like it’s striking at his heart. Throughout the scales, the use of heavy blackwork and negative space carves out the words “Le monstre n'a pas peur de ce qu'il deviendra” or “the monster does not fear what it will become”. It was one of the most painful tattoos Regulus has, because his top surgery scars were still healing, but the tattoo and the fact that it was Barty who did it made it so incredibly worth it

His left leg has a full sleeve on it, and it’s super dope. The whole sleeve is based off of animals with magical or supernatural tales about them. The sleeve is almost done like a totem pole, but the faces are done half in geometrics and half in inverted shading. He has a fox, a coyote, a cat, a vulture, and a bat

His right leg is where all of his impulse tattoos go. Or where he lets Barty and Sirius practice. There’s a lot of small pieces and some larger ones. Sirius did a piece on his thigh that’s a realistic portrait of a lion, except the Regulus constellation covers it’s chest. Barty did another piece with a dog and the Sirius constellation on his calf.

He has a tattoo of Icarus with his wings melting and falling from the sky on the right side of his rib cage

He wants to do a back piece and fill in his torso at some point. Give him 3-5 years to make up his mind and not over think it lmfao

Barty

Blackwork. So. Much. Blackwork.

If he’s got tattoos in a magical fic, his entire left forearm is a blackout. Then the rest of that sleeve is an inverted sleeve with negative space

Has a snake that starts on his sternum, wraps around his neck, under his right arm, over his shoulder and ends on his chest. Done in blackwork style also

His right sleeve is a bit of a mashup. He’s got some blackwork and negative space, but also a bit of fineline work.

He has a neck and face tattoo. It’s on the left side, and it starts near where his shoulder meets his neck then goes up his neck, and around his head and ear. It’s a rose bush. (If it’s a magical tattoo, the different coloured roses bloom and close at different times depending on Evan’s moods)

On his right hipbone, Evan tattooed “ROSY” on him

He has a galaxy and constellation tattoo on his left thigh, it’s the only other coloured tattoo he has besides his rose bush one. He got it for Regulus when he officially changed his name after coming out as trans

His legs are full of small tattoos he did himself. He started tattooing to piss his father off, so some of them are really dumb or badly done, but it’s so on brand for him that he touches them up from time to time just to make sure they stay. The tattoo he’s most proud of though, is Regulus’

I think his ribs and torso are pretty covered, probably a mix of random flash art he thinks is cool when he’s in the shop and more floral designs with snakes.

He absolutely has knuckle and hand tattoos, but for the life of me I cannot decide what exactly they’d be. Part of me really thinks he would do a nod towards Hogwarts and do a snake, an eagle, a badger, and a lion and just do symbols on his knuckles. The other part of me thinks he’d do something ridiculous like “PLAN” on his right hand and “AHEA” on the left just because he’s Barty and why wouldn’t he do shit like that

He has a matching tramp stamp with Dorcas, Marlene, Tillie, and Evan because they were all high as a mf and thought it would be hilarious (it is, in fact, hilarious and the most 70s tramp stamp ever)

Has a bottom lip tattoo that says “SLUT”

He wants to do a massive back piece (talking like shoulders to thigh), but hasn’t decided 100% what he wants to do, so hasn’t done it yet. But once that’s done he’s going to have very little open skin left to tattoo

Evan

On his right hipbone, Barty tattooed “BEE” on him

Has a bottom lip tattoo that says “WHORE”

I cannot stress enough how much of a new school vibe I get from Evan. Like this mf gets just the weirdest shit tattooed on him

Rose bush, but all the flowers are skulls. It takes up like all of his torso and rib cage. There’s also a bunch of vines and poisonous plants tangled in there. Somehow it simultaneously does and doesn’t at all fit his vibe

Dragon. Giant, wrapping, dragon. Takes up his entire right leg from the top of his foot up his hip. The dragon’s head wraps up around his thigh and arsecheek then over his hip bone and is blowing smoke right at his naval. He thinks he’s funny.

He and Pandora have a double helix DNA tattoo. Evan’s is on the outside of his left hand

Pandora

Had a bottom lip tattoo that says “PSYCHO” (Barty was PISSED when she got this one until he pulled his out and then wasn’t quite as mad. He did try to get Evan to tattoo his upper lip with it so he could be “Psycho Slut” which he thought was very on brand)

Pandora is also very new school vibe for me. I feel like she would absolutely get all of her creatures tattooed in a new school style and then have a really abrupt fineline piece here and there. It kinda makes your head spin, but that’s the whole point of it

Pandora and Evan have a double helix DNA strand tattoo. Hers is on the outside of her right hand

Has a giant realistic thestral on her thigh

Moths, lots of really cool fineline tattoos of different moth species (idk she strikes me as a bug girlie)

Dorcas

Has a bottom lip tattoo that says “BITCH”

Has a massive sword tattoo down her spine

Right sleeve is an ivy sleeve, it’s just vines and wrapping around her arm and hand. Some of it goes between her fingers and under her arm

Has a lot of Japanese Traditional style tattoos, the Yin and Yang koi fish on her thigh, cherry blossoms up her left calf, phantom Samurai on her ribcage

On her right calf she has a tattoo of a witch being burned at the stake, very haunting, very cool

Amelia

Has a balance tattooed on her inner left wrist and a gavel on her inner right wrist

Has a matching tattoo with Emme and Tillie of a stack of TNT on her hip

I think Amelia keeps her tattoos covered for the most part. They’re really important to her, but they’re definitely FOR her, ya know? Idk, that’s just the vibe I get from her

Emmeline

Has a matching tattoo with Amelia and Tillie of a stack of TNT on her hip

Something about Emme just screams floral tattoos to me. I think she definitely has a sleeve (or two) of mostly floral tattoos. It feels like a really nice dichotomy between how much of a badass she is (either as an Auror or firefighter or whatever kickass occupation she has) and how soft and kind she can be. I really see her having a sleeve on her right leg that she absolutely gets done in black and grey so her godbabies can colour her flowers in whenever she babysits them

Tillie

Has a matching tattoo with Emme and Amelia of a stack of TNT on her hip

Has a matching tramp stamp with Evan, Barty, Dorcas, and Marlene, she has zero recollection of getting it but every time she has to see the unfortunate thing, she can’t help but laugh. She vows to never get high and get tattoos with them again, but she absolutely fails at that

Shark tattoos. Like so many. Whale sharks, hammerheads, great whites, black tips, nurse sharks, shovelnose, etc. There’s just random little tiny shark tattoos all over her and I’m obsessed with them

On the same theme, I think she also has an ocean theme leg sleeve. A full coral reef, mermaids, all kinds of fish, ofc there’s sharks, maybe a whale and definitely an octopus in there. The whole thing is done in full colour and goes from her ankle all the way up her hip and ends at the bottom of her ribcage

we don't talk enough about the girls in 1st to 4th year. Like we got all those hcs for the guys, but i want he girlies to have cutesy hcs to so:

Lily: Friends with Snape, ofc, but hated pretty much every boy except for him. She'd barely get along with Remus, let alone James, and that was it. Hung out a LOT with Marlene in 1st to 3rd year, and got closer to Mary more around 2nd year, they became a trio at the beginning of 3rd year and became inseparable. Lily was pretty quiet in class, but would be absolutely wild when it came to grades. First in all of her classes, and would compete with anyone else who even tried to catch that title from her. Very competitive, and get closer with Remus at the end of third year after they had a huge competition over who'd be at the top of their DADA class.

Marlene: an absolute beast. Energetic, would either love you or despise you, friends with pretty much every Gryffondor (despised Sirius in 2nd year because of something he'd said to Lily, and James from in 4th year because the flirting was rly getting to Lily, the hatred ended at the end of 4th year when he got absolutely destroyed by Lily and stopped flirting with her obsessively, and apologized profusely) LOVED Peter and would always hang out with him, would be an absolute MENACE in Quidditch, she was a batter along Sirius and no one could convince me otherwise, average in grades but would suck at potions, Lily started pairing up with her to help, which was one of the first things she did against Snape. She could also throw a mean punch, even when she was 13.

Mary: absolute sweetheart in 1st to 2nd year, became more like Marlene in 3rd and 4th. hung out a lot with Sirius in 1st year (when he wasn't with the marauders) and Alice in 2nd, she was a sweetheart and would be nice to everyone, smart and overall an average kid. Then she befriended the other girls and oh. She was wild. 3rd and 4th year, she pranked everyone, caused a mess everywhere she went and managed to always blame it on the marauders, and would show it when she hated you (which she probably did, especially if your name was James Potter or Severus Snape) Her grades, surprisingly, went up and she became a top student pretty quickly

Dorcas: the quiet but not to mess with girl. Immediately befriended Pandora and Regulus in 1st year, and basically didn't talk to anyone else. She got picked on a bit in 1st year, then in the beginning of second she dragged a boy that slapped her ass out of the castle, and he came back the next morning with blood everywhere on his face, hexed and unable to remember what happened, Dorcas just sipping on her morning tea as the Slytherin table went in flames at his return. It was never traced back to her, and no one messed with her afterwards. Was an absolute sweetheart towards Pandora, they were best friends, met Evan in 2nd year and warmed up to him pretty quickly. She had a little rivalry moment with Regulus when they get in the Quidditch team, but they actually became friends easily and treated him like a little brother (the big sibling Sirius couldn't be, snif) Barty and her spent so much time hating each other, just to realize their entire feud was ridiculous and become best friends the next day

Pandora: An absolute NERD. And by that, i mean that if Evan was the one to avoid all the classes their parents taught them when they were kids, Pandora would be the kid to ask all the uncomfortable questions and destroy your logic in a few seconds with your own reasoning. Never get into an argument with her. She'd always be either at the library, or in a common room. Befriended Regulus immediately and only hung out with him for 6 months, made up an entire language for them to speak in between each other, made bracelets Regulus would hide under his sleeve but always wear, ect. Met Dorcas and hit it off relatively quick, their early friendship more like a black cat and white cat, where they just supported each other and hung out constantly.

I believe you mentioned you liked seeing Regulus as a marine zooligist or something similar? What other careers do you see him having in a world where he survives the cave? I saw a picture where the artist hcs that he sorta “falls” into the profession of curse breaking. But I can’t help and think not all cursebreakers are like Gringotts cursebreakers (where the artifacts are turned into gold), and I had a hard time seeing him willing to be a cursebreaker only to see that artifact melted (1)

Yeah, the marine biologist thing was a non-magic AU career idea. Also, curse breaker you say? Like...opening the Cursed Vaults? Perhaps R from Hogwarts Mystery? 🕵🏻😂 @regulusarchieblack

here are some of my marauders hc because I can't sleep.

Remus has cuddly elephant toy that he can't sleep without, to this day...or, till the day he died. When he first started Hogwarts, he tried to hide it from the other three but they all knew about it and didn't say anything.

Sirius was the first one to grow facial hair (in his 5th year) and he was the only one to keep it. James started growing a stuble when he and Lily started going out but she made him shave it off. Remus tried having facial hair once but everyone agreed it looked horrendous and Peter was never able to grow any.

Peter had a lot of half brothers and sisters. 4 sisters and 3 brothers to be exact, and he would constantly complain to them about it. He also had a pet toad called 'Gilbert' but he ran away in their 4th year and they're pretty sure he found a home with the giant squid.

Sirius needed to wear glasses, but refused to because he thought they made him look like a nerd. Remus and Lily are the only ones who have seen him wearing them, and they both said he looked adorable, which just put him off even more.

Dorcas Meadowes was emo and listened to a lot of depressing music. (she was also dating Marlene, but we already knew that.)

Regulus had a stutter up until he was 12 and he couldn't keep eye contact to save his life. His parents always scolded him for it, and Sirius would always defend him, knowing he couldn't help it. Regulus also had a HUGE crush on James. But you know, he didn't abuse children because of it.

Lucius Malfoy and Snape were fck-buddies from their 5th year up until Lucius was forced to marry Narcissa.

The first jumper Molly Weasley ever knitted, was for a little boy in the first year who was always wearing the same over sized jumper that was covered in holes. She felt like he needed a new one- he must have a hell of a home life considering the scars on his face- and so knitted him a new one for Christmas.

Frank and Alice both had a massive rivalry in Charms, and could often be found chasing each other around Hogwarts casting hexes because they both wanted to win the on going battle. (It was all friendly of course.)

Remus and Sirius actually did know about the room of requirement, but decided not to tell anyone because it was such a perfect place to go and be...alone...together. 👀

Lily had a massive fear of heights, and for good reaosn- the first quidditch match of the season in their second year, and Marlene fell off her broom and was unconscious for almost a week.

Remus always wore socks to bed, and the first time he and Sirius shared a bed, Sirius was horrified.

Mary was a hard-core Wolfstar shipper, along with James and they were the leaders of the fan club. The fan club was basically just them two, Lily, Alice and Frank meeting up in the library and coming up with ways to try and hook them up.

Regulus' first kiss was with Remus. It was an accident; they were both walking through the halls and neither were looking where they were going, meaning they bumped into each other and their lips touched. Remus of course never told Sirius and couldn't bring himself to look Regulus in the eye again.

James has or had ADHD.

Both Regulus and Sirius had to take part in a lot of different classes, all of which they hated including; becoming fluent in Latin and French, learning ballet, taking art classes and having to learn their whole family tree off by heart.

The two brothers also had French accents from their heritage. Sirius' faded away fairly quickly, but when he was trying to be romantic then it would come out. Regulus on the other hand, still had a very pronounced accent, which he hated and tried hard to cover up but it always came out when he was angry or upset or thinking about James.

Marlene once picked up a stray cat which she thought was adorable and despite the girls protest, insisted on carrying it round all day and playing with it. When she woke up the next morning it was gone and found that when she went to Transfiguration, professor McGonagall couldn't keep a straight face when looking at her.

The marauders would often have debates on who McGonagall's favourite was and one day she just walked past and said; 'none of you. you're all a pain in the arse; my favourite student is lily.' and they all found it halarious.

Mary had a photo album with hundreds of pictures of her friends, all with halarious captions such as 'The one time Sirius wasn't being annoying' with a picture of Sirius passed out in the common room. Another one is of James with three pens stuck up his nose captioned 'Lily's future husband everyone.' there were plenty more like it.

Last one: we all know that Sirius is Harry's godfather and I've always wondered if he had a godmother to. And so, I'm now announcing it as Canon the Minera McGonagall was Harry's godmother. I don't make the rules kids.

some of my fav headcannons for regulus:

- virgo sun, cap rising, and pisces moon (still a bit indecisive tho)

- gets top grades!!! he is effortlessly smart and enjoys studying, reading and all of that nerd shit

- he is tall(ish)!!! maybe like a 5’10 or 5’11 around 16 years old. i think all of the blacks are fucking giants, so compared to his brother, yeah he’s ‘short’ 😒

- but.... before he was 16 he was a bit short and on the scrawny side. i think he was one of those guys that went through all of puberty over one summer. so he was seen as a baby for a while 😒

- he’s skinny, but he got a little bit of muscle. he plays quidditch 🤷‍♀️.

- runs a lot... it’s a time for him to be alone and relax

- i hc him as bi, but i also like stories where he’s ace or gay! 💗💜💙

- had a huge crush on james potter, but unrequited :( (but i do like jegulus stories!!!)

- had a confusing relationship with Barty Crouch.

- both were like ✨ bro... are we flirting?... or is it just a bro thing? ✨

- yes it was flirting🙄... but the only way regulus could flirt was roasting the fuck out of barty so it was hard to go any further

- he just cannot for his life able to express or define love in a healthy way.

- all regulus know is, make fun of people he likes, have trouble defining platonic and romantic love, be bisexual, have no moral compass, and lie 😐

- remember the discourse about him being a whore?

- i completely agree. i think he was a fuckboy.

- however, i don’t think he would realize his fuckboy tendencies. it was more just go with the flow... i’ll hook up with whoever i like... but that meant he unintentionally hurt a lot of people

- he probably would act normal right after like nothing happened and tell them it wasn’t a big deal😒

- it’s just that he can’t focus on a relationship and it was just a fun little one-time thing ☝️😩

- cannot imagine getting married or having children. waaaay too afraid of commitment

- he can come off as selfish, uninterested, and overall, an asshole. it’s true, but he definitely exaggerates these traits in front of others (especially when met with emotional situations) 😬

- but his sympathetic nature is there 😞 just buried very deep within himself

- when it comes to quidditch... definitely turns into a jock

- yells “LETS GOOOOO” during practice 😭. would also definitely be the type to post his game stats on his story

- will break a rule or few 😼 but scared of authority (his mama mostly) so... not too far... unless he really knows he’s gonna get away with it 🏃🏽‍♀️💨

- really, really deep sleeper. has about 5 alarms to wake him up. trained himself to wake up naturally so he doesn’t have to depend on whether the alarm will wake him up or not.

- does not get cold. however, he will literally throw himself across the room if he comes in contact with cold feet or hands

- sirius and regulus would act like normal fucking siblings!!!!

- if sirius tells reg to do something, he would most likely do the opposite!!! (that’s what my younger sibling does 😐 most annoying shit ever)

- they fight and argue all the time over stupid shit!!!

- and most importantly, they do not think of each other 24/7!!! i saw a post saying regulus should be able to make his own decisions without having sirius involved all the time... and i completely agree!!!

- also, i hate the head cannon that reg and sirius lived in a physically abusive household. yes, they may have dealt with some emotional neglect because the family was so traditional and strict... but there was absolutely no evidence of physical abuse

-anyway... just a few more

- nic addiction and smokes occasionally (smokes joints because rolling is therapeutic for him)

- he struggles with mood disorders. i think we can all agree on this 😁

- i don’t think he was a loner 🙄 he had friends... maybe not super close... but he could rely on a few. maybe like barty or evan rosier.

- hated snape. thought he was gross, a hypocrite, and found his obsession with the marauders and lily annoying

- prodigy level at playing the piano and loves painting and sketching!!! ugh he’s so talented 😼
