I recently noticed I had a very sweet ask about Codywan fics recs but I didn’t realise saving drafts of ask replies wasn’t an option so I accidentally deleted it. If you are the lovely anon who sent that message on (I believe) the 29th of October, I’m sorry for not seeing it sooner, and here is a list for you!! A definitely-not-comprehensive guide to Codywan fics because I'm actually only a few months into shipping them myself. These are just some of my favourites.

I mainly read modern AUs but I’ll try and come up with a good variety so hopefully, there’s something for everyone. Also I’ll @ the writers who have accs on here because they deserve all the praise and credit in the world (but do let me know if you’d prefer to be untagged!!)

Modern AUs

An incredibly sweet oneshot featuring Teacher!Cody hosting a parent-teacher conference and a very overwhelmed Obi Wan trying his best to raise Anakin. The characterisation of Obi Wan in particular just makes my brain go brrrrrrrrrrrr because it reminds me of how he's written in the canon novels, as in you get to see a side of him that isn’t so polished and held together. The most unconventional yet adorable meet-cute ever. I have read it many many times.

THIS FIC. Oh my gosh. I've read it three times so far and I just adore it. It's an AU based on the movie Happiest Season (although I personally think this fic is far better than the movie). I'm always here for Christmas fics and they're always quite hard to find in my experience and yet here is this absolute gem, heavy with plot and drama and the most wonderful use of canon characters and dynamics.

I've spoken about this fic by @kckenobi before and I will do it over and over until everyone on earth has had the privilege of reading it. This is, without a doubt, the best fanfiction I've ever read. I can say that definitively. My recommendation for this would be to download the playlist that goes along with it. There's a link in the notes of the final chapter. Ngl I have Apple Music so I had to individually search for each song and add it to a playlist but it is beyond worth it. Aside from the writing being phenomenal, listening to the songs while reading is honestly life-changing. I have such a soft spot for classical and orchestral music and when I tell you you won't be able to look at any other fic without thinking about what a magical experience this one was, I'm not lying. The Codywan is quite minor compared to the rest of the plot but it is incredibly sweet and feels very natural. This is great if you like Obi Wan-centric fics.

This one is very special to me because it was one of the first fics I ever read in the fandom. This author (I don’t think I can tag them but their user on here is the same as their ao3) in general has been integral to my Codywan journey and there's so many of their works I've had the pleasure of following the publication of in such a short amount of time. Another unconventional meet-cute, which just seems to be a trope that suits this ship down to the ground.

But my personal favourite fic of theirs is Natural Wonders, a Photographer!Cody and Park Ranger!Obi Wan au, because I followed the publication of it from start to end and it was an absolute blast. This author's work ethic is unparalleled. Just take a look at the range of fics they've written. It's seriously impressive. Truly one of the best writers to begin with if you're new to the ship because they've done so much. You’ll be able to find basically any genre you like the most and every single one is insanely well written.

This fic is so sweet that reading it will rot the teeth right out of your head. This is by the wonderful @legobenkenobi who is not only the loveliest person ever, he is also a remarkable writer. Cody and Obi Wan work in a library together, Obi Wan comes in with a cat, which belongs to neither of them, out of absolutely nowhere one day (which is the most in-character thing I’ve ever heard) and the fluff ensues from there. While you’re there, read everything else he’s written because every single fic should be put in a museum.

Canon Compliant/Divergent

Cody and Obi Wan get married by accident. It sounds lighthearted and funny, which it is a little, but it also feels like hugging a thousand knives at once. This author manages to capture the painful longing between the two men that would be present in the canon-verse. It's under 1k words and yet they manages to inflict so much pain so quickly. There's something so delicate about the way they write and it's such a poignant, heartwrenching take on what is usually used as a solely comedic trope. I don’t read angst that often but every word of this was beautiful.

This fic is just... I can't even describe it. It's so in-depth. I feel like you really get to experience the Star Wars universe here. There's so many characters that are usually underutilized in fics, but not here. It features blind Obi Wan and how this affects his experience as a Jedi and as a General. It’s tactful and magnificently written. You really get to go on an adventure with the characters and it's so rich in plot and follows the actual plot of parts of Clone Wars but with such a unique perspective added. The story just slots so nicely into canon. I don't want to spoil too much but it's such a fascinating take on Obi Wan's character. Also!!! It explores so many relationships that canon itself neglects to. My personal favorite other than Codywan is Obi Wan's interactions with Ahsoka. This is still an ongoing fic so get in while you still can. You won't regret it, I promise.

This is also one of quite a few times where I've been a fan of someone's work before joining Tumblr, only to realise after following them that I've been reading their work for ages. @foreverchangingfandomsao3 you are immensely talented. Thank you for writing such an immersive story. I am in love with your take on Obi Wan.

This is another ongoing fic by the lovely @farores-oak-tree. It's a post-order 66 fic and it's so so so good so far. Other than Codywan's inevitable reunion, what I love the most about this is how it uses its other characters. Sabé features heavily and I always wanted to see her again so this was a delightful discovery. Again' I don't to spoil too much because its still being posted but there is such an interesting use of canon events. It's been so much fun so far so please give it a read if you like post-order 66 Codywan. This could be the plot of Kenobi S2 and I would completely believe you. It's so good.

This is another fic I read and absolutely loved and then started following the person who wrote it on here without realising. @frostbitebakery is behind this particular work of art. This is a Sith!Obi Wan AU and honestly it’s the only one you’ll need. I really love the way it’s structured and I don’t know if this makes sense, but this author has something about their writing style that is so careful and distinctive and you can see that same style coming through in their art style too (seriously, have a look at their art, it’s absolutely insane). It’s so detailed and you can feel how much time was spent on it. Such a delight to read.

Another recommendation of a work I’d been subscribed to who I think is actually written by a mutual of mine. I’m not certain about that but regardless, I can’t begin to express how much I love it so far. It’s another ongoing fic. I have a thing for fics that detail how Cody and Obi Wan first meet because canon does nothing to show this. If it turns out this is actually how they met and how things unfolded for them, I would completely buy it. It just suits them so much. It feels so true to their characters. It’s so natural and it flows so well. I could read a thousand chapters of this.

I could recommend so many others but these are the ones I always think of when people ask for recommendations. I think I put the usernames of everyone who has an account on here but I’ll keep looking in case I missed anyone. I’ve been in a lot of fandoms but I genuinely mean it when I say Codywan authors (and artists) are the most accomplished I’ve ever seen.

life update!!

i finally have some free time and havent properly posted something in so long so i thought id write up something!

first of all i want to say that ive successfully fixed my bingewatch problem in late january!! i hate to say it, but seeing how many movies i saw last year in my letterboxd wrapped really concerned me 🫤 i wanted to make an effort to make use of my time properly (after starting a new job and all) and i thought i wont let myself waste time bingeing horrible b-movies just so i can bump up the percent watched in someones filmography (its kinda tricky doing it so i made a resolution to only watch movies which interests me if i want to see more of someone)

with that said, i ended up not watching anything on weekdays and eventually think that staring at my phone for more than an hour wasnt my thing anymore (at least in the context of doing it EVERYDAY). so that may be one of the reasons why the turnaround for my hyperfixations got slower (which i think is good!).

ALSO, i do want to mention that because ive been watching less films recently i initially thought it would be great for my gif making hobby since i wont feel the pressure of wanting to gif so many movies at one sitting. i tried this in early feb and.. well... lets just say that it takes time for my very old laptop to make gifs (i had it since college during the pandemic so it was really used!). i only screen record scenes i want to gif because i hate having to wait to download AND even if i had hq clips it would take my laptop so long to render. so making something lq and having to wait 30mins just for a single gif wasnt doing it for me (bcs i said i wanted to make more use of my time).. so thats the reason why i havent posted anything lately (I REALLY REALLY wanted to make a gifset of josh whitehouse in valley girl but the quality just ended up stressing me 🫠)

and for my last update, as u can tell from my reblogs on queue, i just saw daisy jones and the six and LOVE josh whitehouse and he really got me playing the guitar again 😭😭 (i still think its a miracle!!!). ive been practicing some old pieces i used to perform when i was in high school during my 5-9's and i just had a bizzare idea of getting into the piano. i only ever played classical before, so i always had a problem doing improvs. i spent some time looking at videos on youtube and found out improvs on the piano were waay easier to play and understand, so im gonna buy a keyboard very very soon (which im so excited for)!!!! learning how to do jazz improvs on keys would probably be my new hobby and making gifs would probably be back until i get a new laptop (which at the moment is very low priority 🥲)

THEN i found out he has a new movie coming up with...

malcolm mcrae: ngl his pretty face caught my eye (special shoutout to anya! literally the power couple)... my first thoughts were like 'ohh i wonder what his character is like in triton'. but then i found out hes in a band SO i was thinking ok hes in a movie w josh so theres probably gonna be something music in it. i then looked up his band and love their songs!! theyre only a duo which i think is p strong (u dont need that many ppl in a band rly!) and i watched some interviews they had too!

KANE RITCHOTTE: my babygirl. my darling. idk what to say abt him. his songs with malcolm are always so magical. ive been playing gods in the details on repeat since early feb. hes my favorite more* member. the literal musical god. im praying hell sing more songs. ALSO i was suprised he did a cameo in daisy jones and the six with malcolm (they were the one who taught some of them how to play their instruments!! i was in awe bcs malcolm was the literal billy dune. LIKE sam claflin really copied his playing style which is so neat!!)

Wifey now shares the same life span (or in my personal opinion “live longer” as in Morax would erode first before wifey just because he’s so much older and therefore have more bad memories to erode him and maybe one day I’ll tell you more about Morax eroding away but this is not the ask for it rn) oh my god tumblr is lagging if this gets deleted I’ll hurl okay so yeah second meaning of longevity is that wifey gets to live longer

I love your take on the title a lot! Honestly the only problem is that in canon the two have only been married for 2000 years, but that’s still a long ass time, and let’s be honest, those two would still be hand in hand when the sun explodes if they’re lucky to live that long. You hit the nail on the head with the longevity thing, but it’s also because of this one story I read about six ginkgo trees in Hiroshima. The place had been nuked, but six ginkgo trees had survived and from what I can see, are still going. They can live up to 3000 years. That’s why I had that part at the end where Zhongli tells Childe about how ginkgo trees are a symbol of hope and strength, and how they fit wifey very well. They’ve been through a lot, and they still prospered.

So the thing about wifey’s lifespan is that they’re sharing it with Morax. I didn’t focus too much on what that actually means beyond wifey will live past their human life expectancy so long as Morax is alive. It’s mainly because the specifics weren’t super important at the time, just served as an explanation for why wifey’s still around in canon time, and so I could avoid the whole “immortal outlives lover” trope because I told myself I was gonna end this nicely. I need y’all to know though that I’ve been very tempted to write something for when Zhongli begins to erode, but I have a character sheet to make for a Strahd campaign and a divorce fic chapter to get to. So yeah, maybe I’ll save it for another ask :)

I'm taking my time writing some new stuff!

I'm just checking in to say hello and update you about my life just a little bit

Yesterday and today I took some time to myself, I went to a DIY fair and bought some supplies. I knit myself a very fun balaclava, and made some pretty jewellery.

I also baked a pumpkin pie, and it turned out amazing (ofc, it's my granny's recipe's merit, she's extraordinary and has all the best recipes).

I'm thinking about buying myself a pc game! It would be a first for me, since I usually download apps and play on my ipad or my phone, so if you all have advice on gaming on computers, please feel welcome to share ☺️✨ the game is called Chants of Sennaar, and since I'm a linguist I found myself pretty intrigued by the concept of it.

Today I did my Sunday home reset and now as it's bedtime and I'm about to start a new week, I came here to set my intentions 💖

This week I want to do 3 things for this blog:

1 - post Three Sugars update

2 - post a standalone fic from my finished drafts

3 - write ch 5 of Natural Connection

Ok so since it’s 2023 for me and I’m drunk as fuck so might as well be sappy when I’m out of it and regret this later tee hee

This year has been shit ngl my brother left the country, I changed majors, I was diagnosed with depression, I lost friends along the way…to say it’s been too much it’s an understatement and ig it has been like that for everyone to some extent

But I also gained some things! I got a new tablet, I started doing commissions, I made new friends and strengthen the bond I had with my current friends, I’m working on an Eve project I’m really excited about and I’m finally starting this big fic project I wanted to do so bad…it hasn’t been that bad when you look at the positive things every once in a while me thinks

Ah but ig I should be really talk about this blog and Eve and all that stuff right? It is pointless bc y’all know how much I love Eve and how much I would die for him and commit crimes and all that all that…as for this blog…it means a lot to me! Idk it’s just not to trauma dump lmao but ig the fact that people engages with what I have to say, talk to me from time to time via ask box or comments and overall have just fun with this dumb little blog makes me really happy! Mostly when I’ve been told my whole life to shut up and not talk unless I have something of relevance to say, it’s nice the little internet people who follows me are somehow having fun with my nonsense that’s why I feel I should thank y’all somehow and it doesn’t matter what I’ll do to give those thanks I’ll never think it’s gonna be enough…so all I can give for now are those illegal songs! Have you downloaded them already? Gave them a listen? You should do it fast before I delete them!

Ah I also would like to thank my discord besties all of them! The ones on tdt, the art server and the ones on my private server, the ones who dm me regularly to just talk about whatever and the ones who occasionally dm me to talk about Eve theories and such…it’s embarrassing to flat out say your feelings and show your love in a straight forward way but I love them and appreciate them so so much the fact that people who barely know me and whom I barely know can be so important to me, the fact they put up with me, appreciate me, have fun with me, I love them so so much I think I might cry thinking about it. I’ve never felt so loved like I do with these people and as much as I want to tell them how important they are to me and how much I love them I don’t think I have the courage to so I’ll hide it here, where they may find it but it will be less embarrassing. I don’t think 2023 will be the year but may we all meet soon in person and have fun together like we are meant to be

This post is gross it makes me wanna gag, feelings laid out like this are gross it’s what I’ve been told so I better shut up tee hee. huehuehuehue I won't lie- I didn't know anything about stardew valley apart from the fact that it's a farming game and apparently the npcs are hot (for real)

But, I got to playing and downloading it because one of my friends suggested it after I said I wanted a chill game that I don't have to put much effort in asdfghjk-

It's pretty chill and is actually fun whenever I play, ngl tho once I achieved most of the goals given by the game and only a few more to finish, it started to become a little bit repetitive cuz all I did was do my chores around the farm and also start a family with my in-game husband lmao (my hubby is elliott, aka a long-haired writer hermit that lives in a cabin near the ocean :'D)

As a game, I definitely recommend it if you just want to live out your dream of being a farmer after resigning from a draining desk job from the city :D

One of the highlights of this game tho are the npcs fr, all of them have their own actual personality, they're not all the nice very general and lifeless npc we've come to know. Most of them have their own problems and some have their own dark-ish pasts and plot twists (it's like a telenovela bruh)

It also doubles as a decorating game (which I am a WHORE for ;D) you can decorate your house, your farm, greenhouse, hell even the sewers are available to be used :''D

all in all, a pretty good game fr (it just sucks that there's so little fics for my hubby once I started to look for them :'''D)

Also- sorry to say but I did not have breakfast cuz I fell asleep after playing- BUT I just had lunch, if that makes up for it 👉👈

had to follow up on my scrivener ask from the other day because i just downloaded the free trial and i'm going through the tutorial and omg it's basically a writer's wet dream. there's things in here i never knew i needed but now i'm so excited to play with (being able to label sections as to do, in progress, first/revised/final draft, or done?? pls and thanks). i'm someone who tends to write across a ton of different documents so being able to house all of them AND my outlines AND my notes and work with them seamlessly/side-by-side in one space is going to be such a game changer for me. (i also love that it's a one time purchase for the software license and not a subscription because i'm so sick of being roped into subscriptions, ugh)

anyway, just had to come over and yell about this because i'm so excited (hopefully the push i need to actually get this fic done 🙃). would definitely recommend giving the free trial a shot for anyone who's ever considered using it! (and i swear i have no stock in scrivener lmao this sounds like an ad, i'm just genuinely hyped 🤣)
