Unaltered Foods are the Best Foods In recent years, there has been a trend of people wanting to know exactly what's in their food. This has led to a demand for more "natural" and "unprocessed" foods. While this is all well and good, there are some foods that we just don't need to alter. Here are some examples of food that we don't need to change: 1. Apples Apples are one of the most popular fruits in the world, and for good reason! They're tasty, nutritious, and come in a variety of colors and sizes. And best of all, they don't need to be altered in any way to be enjoyed. Just wash them, cut them up, and enjoy! 2. Bananas Bananas are another fruit that doesn't need any alteration before being eaten. In fact, they're often eaten right out of the peel! Just make sure to wash them first, of course. Bananas are a great source of potassium and fiber, making them a perfect snack or addition to breakfast or lunch. 3. carrots Carrots are a versatile vegetable that can be used in a variety of dishes. They can be roasted, sauteed, pureed, or even eaten raw! Carrots are also a great source of vitamins A and C, as well as fiber. There's no need to do anything to carrots except wash them before eating or cooking. 4. potatoes Potatoes are another versatile vegetable that can be used in countless ways. They can be baked, fried, mashed, roasted...the list goes on! Potatoes are also a great source of nutrients like potassium and vitamin C. As with carrots, all you need to do before eating or cooking potatoes is give them a good wash. There are many such foods which you don't need to alter before eating. Conclusion: As you can see, there are plenty of foods that we don't need to alter before enjoying them. So next time you're at the grocery store, don't hesitate to grab some apples, bananas, carrots, or potatoes! Your body will thank you for it! #natural #food #freshfood #nohybrid #nogmo #noprocessedfood #homecook #homegrown (at ecoplanetfarm) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ckz-VAxJ1Fo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The cooking spree continues.
I think one of the keys to homesteading and zero wasting is learning how to DIY your favorite sauces and spreads as best as possible. The benefit of this is multi-fold: you know the quality of the ingredients involved, you’re saving money as pre-made foods are almost always more expensive than the sum of their ingredients, and you’re building skills and self-confidence.
Today I tackle a very easy tapenade, which is, essentially, just fancyspeak for an olive spread. It goes great on toast, or can be an added topping on pasta. I used this particular spread on a tomato-based sauce with haddock.
But first, the tapenade (based on this recipe.)
What you need:
- 3 cloves of garlic (okay, alright, I probably used closer to 5 since I’m a fiend)
- 1 cup of olives (green, black or a mix of whatever)
- 2 tablespoons of capers
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- about half a bunch of fresh parsley
- salt and pepper to taste
Place everything in a blender or food processor and give it a whirl. Store in a pretty jar in your fridge.
Just wait till I figure out how to can and pickle things. Just wait!
There are some basic ways you can experiment with different versions of this recipe. Choose different types of olives, leave out the lemon, try different herbs like thyme or basil, roast the garlic, add a bit of tomato or anchovy paste. Why not play with it a bit?

In Imari, Saga prefecture, 30 km off the coast of Hatatsu Port, seawater is collected and boiled with firewood for two days by an elderly man to make a sweet natural sea salt called Namiura no Shio(波浦の塩). It takes about 1 ton of water to make about 30 kg of salt. #seasalt #nofakefood #eatrealfood #nutrientdense #noprocessedfoods https://www.instagram.com/p/B73AlinH6PM/?igshid=17oxu3hjrqv82
Sharing my little journey, which started last year April, 13 frustrating Months ago. It has taken me that long to lose 6/7kg. Starting weight 72-73kg (every now and again tipping 74kg) weighing in today 66kg. The journey started by battling to go low-carb, fighting all the lovely sugary foods. Over the year I have progressed into Keto and now predominantly Carnivore. All in all it has been about cutting out processed man made foods. And feeling great for doing it. Once you find your rhythm and have reprogrammed your habits and cravings it is easier than you think. Be positive and stick with it. The health benefits are worth it. #coachkrisinzim #coachkris #newandimproved2point0 #slowlybutsurely #positivewayforward #feelinggood #energised #pushingon #healthyeating #carnivore #noprocessedfoods (at Harare Province) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx9l6eMlkfjhK8EQb6PuLFy3axa5oLoWQPmafw0/?igshid=oj9fiohwebdf
