Hii! What are some of your favourite Vaya and Vamos headcanons? :D

Hi!!!! Okay hmm hard to say but here's some I hold dearly (i might have talked about some of them before sorry about that):

- when playing games Vaya plays to have fun and Vamos plays to win

- the problem with this is that Vaya is just better at games and Vamos never wins against them, as much as they try lol

- they and Val are childhood friends, and Val pretends that he doesn't really care about them but he definitely does (and they know it)

- they don't like wearing their masks and only wear them if the rest of the Vs tells them to

- they have stolen stuff from Tommy Chow Mein before and he knows that they did but he likes them so he still lets them hang out

- if you tell them a secret there's a 50/50 chance they'll either forget about it 10 minutes later or the entire Nest will know

- Vamos wanted to learn karate at some point to be like Kobra Kid and they claim they're good at it (debatable)

- they have experimented with their hair a lot, both with colors and hairstyles, but always kept them different from each other (as in, they never did the overly identical twins thing, maybe for a joke or a halloween costume once)

Does Killjoys significantly change in the middle? I’ve tried to start it twice and have never made it past the pilot but the (gay) gifs I see are so cool and interesting!

Hmmmm, it really depends on what it is you didn't like about the pilot. The show was always a comedic scifi about Dutch and the Jaqobis brothers at its heart.

But, while it initially starts off more episodic and dropping little tidbits about the bigger story, slowly that reverses and eventually each ep is one bit in the larger mythology. It also starts to become more serious, or well, the jokes are still there, just less shallow? That's what probably makes the gifs seem to hit harder, everything matters more. It does take a while for that to happen, and then there is indeed a soft reboot at the start of season 3 where it's the same characters but the plot it's been building up to zooms out and now it's on a grander scale, affecting more people in a bigger way.

If you're like me and like a more earnest show, it's definitely in there, it just takes a bit of time getting used to.

it has been about 6 years since i last worked in a purely information security setting, but since we were also part of central IT for a major university, we did these routine outreach and education projects to try to get the students to not do sketchy shit with their technology, and to practice better information privacy, etc

we’d host little pop-up events with games and prizes and stickers—we had little characters for all the different IT threats you might encounter while doing nonsense on the internet

and honestly i can’t even remember which threat this little guy is supposed to represent anymore, but he lives on the back of my laptop now and i love him

1. don’t click spam links in your email.

2. don’t plug in random usb sticks you find on the ground.

3. don’t scan sketchy QR codes. but if you do and they invite you and your family, regardless of blood type, to a gathering in remote montana in 2025, do not go.

the thing is, "i dislike this character for their actions and behaviour, which have a deeply negative emotional impact on me that i cannot look past" will never be the same as saying "you cannot write or create anything that deals with bad stuff because it means you condone it and i am personally judging you."

nuance and critical thinking skills are at the base of media consumption. just because someone cannot enjoy a certain story does not mean they are to be attacked for being moralists.

related to the uniform analysis post, simultaneously lol-ing and angry that fucking carl (minor character from seasons one and two) shows up again in season five as a factory worker, yet we couldn't get just one reference to jelco. with the whole fake memories plotline that would have been so interesting esp if amnesia!jelco turned out to be a decent guy / willing to work with dutch to figure out what's going on, and then he regains his real memories and chooses to keep helping her despite remembering what he did to old town in the past.

it would have been a nice reversal of their earlier hostility back in season two where they tried to get the other killed (or at the very least were completely fine with it happening), where now you have them trusting each other to have the other's back. sure they still snark at each other and occasionally annoy the shit out of each other, but what person has dutch met that doesn't do both of those things repeatedly lmao. they've moved past the trying to kill each other part (mostly).
