JONAS REMAKES RANKING

So I did an eva remake ranking a few weeks ago.

Let's continue now with the Jonas remake ranking ;)

( i didn't watch skam italia so that's why Giovanni is not there altho he seems to be really great)

For the few who actually will read this, feel free to discuss in the comments (respectfully of course). I also want to add that me not liking a character is not a dig at anyone who does. Everyone has their opinions, it's great, and I'm not trying to impose mine, I just want to vent lol.

1- Jonas (Druck)

I mean he has his flaws but he is just...so cute? And endearing? In season 1 he was not always a good boyfriend, as it is Jonas tradition, but he is defintely the one who was the best at communication and who I could understand his actions the most. I was not a super fan of his couple with Hanna, and their reunion felt extremely bitter sweet as it took away an episode from Amira's season, but I liked to see that he was there for her no matter what, showing them as friends before getting back together and that that was enough for him even though he wanted more. And I mean poor guy didn't know what was happening most of the time lol. He's just really lost and clumsy in his actions, I could totally buy him just not really knowing how to deal with some situations because in the end he's just a teenager. And with Matteo omg he is SO ADORABLE like my heart melts everytime he calls him Luigi and when Matteo came out his first reaction was "TELL ME WHERE THE FUCKER LIVES NO ONE HURTS MY BEST FRIEND LIKE THAT X("? He is just the best ^^. He was such a believable character, and despite his flaws always had the intention to be nice and respectful and he is simply so wholesome I love him <3

2-Yann (Skam France)

Poor guy was done so dirty by the writers but fuck them I'm gonna love him anyway! I don't condomn or excuse his reaction to Lucas's coming out, especially when his reason did not make sense at all (Lucas had made it clear that he had only told ONE person about his sexuality -a person who was also a gay man and if Yann can't understand why Lucas would want to come out to him first he's not very bright- , not the "whole highschool" like he says later, so what exactly was he upset about?). But still, I'd like to add that he was also the only Jonas to ever appologize for the gay jokes, so even though it doesn't make up for it, it still shouldn't be overlook. He is also such a sunshine, like his smile is so contagious. He can be a little too proud sometimes but still is ready to look over that for his friends. And despite his bad actions, after Lucas came out, he became so supportive, always having his back, being so excited about Eliott (but like who wouldn't), and not afraid to be physically affectionate with him (something Lucas defintely needs like the poor guy is so touch starved everyone should give him a goddam hug it's a good thing he has the clingiest racoon on the planet as a boyfriend), something that I feel is so important to show between men sespecially when one of them is into guys. He made me love the boyquad so much, sometimes becoming the mom friend of the group poor guy. I found him annoying at times, but always so endearing, and he is definitely one of the Jonas that pissed me off the less so...It was a downer he was the least present of the boysquad in season 5 :(

3- Kes (Skam nl)

Oh god this dude...He was such an ASSHOLE to Isa in season 1, and since Isa is my baby you can imagine how I would have an issue with him. Not only that, but his actions seemed to stem more from him wanting to be the macho man in front of his friends and never actually respecting his own girlfriend than the oblivousness and clumsiness of other Jonas. So...What saved him in my eyes? Firsly, his charisma. I don't know there was just something about how fun and easy going nature that i found endearing. It made me hate him less and understand more was Isa fell for him. And secondly, his friendship with Lucas. When it comes to that he is probably the Jonas who treated his Isak the best in season 1. Even his "your music is gay" line came less as a real mean jab and more like friendly teasing compared to the others. In my memories, Lucas even got along pretty well with the other dude. I will even go as far as to say that Kes is the only Jonas that i ship with his Isak (well at least that I actually see having feelings for his Isak). So, for that, he was to me more enjoyable to follow. Still needed Isa to make him that Eva speech in the end that he defintely deserved tho.

4- Jorge (Skam espana)

I was not sure where to put him, to be honest, because like with Hanna in the last ranking, he is the one amongst the Jonas that I don't feel anything for. I mean he's cute and nice and all, I appreciated how he was supportive of Lucas after his coming out, and I think his relationship with Eva was pretty well handled from start to finish (altho a bit rebondant at times after season 1). But like that's it. When it comes to him, I just don't care? That's kind of a trend for skam espana. It's just not for me I guess. But I still liked seeing his friendship with Nora in season 3!

5- Jens (WTFock)

He is from, in my opinion, the worst boysquad in the whole skamverse so that definitely don't give him any favors. I think we all know why I would dislike him. During the first two seasons he was already an asshole, constantly picking on on Robbe and making sexist and homophobic jokes with Moyo. In season 3, though, he went of the rails, becoming a caricature of a dudebro macho man, willingly abandoning Robbe when the poor guy was confiding in him, always talking about SEEEEX... God I wanted to slap his face so bad! They tried to salvage it by making him be supportive to Robbe after his coming out, but it felt so forced and really clumsy. Him saying "Yeah? So?" is not the woke move the writers wanted it to be. Like yeah your friend being gay should not be big deal in itself TO YOU (except if you're actually in love with him and thus have a big gay panic when he tells you hint hint Kes), but when he makes his coming out an important moment, reacting like that only invalidates his feelings, especially when it is only to make the other character look cool. Jens being the one to push Robbe to come out, even doing it for him (with Robbe's silent agreement but still), is not a good look either. Not even talking about how they didn't even adress his shitty behavior and instead made him do a 180 because the writers were just lazy I guess. For all of these reasons, he is almost my least favorite Jonas. Almost because, for one, the scene where he talks to Robbe about sex, telling him it's ok if he's not ready but also that he shouldn't be so pressured about it because in the end, no matter what other guys say, "it's just sex" finally put him in a good light as he had dropped his macho dudebro man mode, and was the (only) scene where I actually liked him. Plus, I still could stand him in season 1 and he felt like a real person I could maybe even like (in season 1!!!). And...There is another Jonas that did not even have any of that.

7- Marlon (Skam Austin)

And the Worst Boyfriend Award goes to...

No but seriously this guy has no redeemable qualities in my eyes. Pretentious asshole who only thinks about HE wants? Check! Wants his girlfriend to be interested in his passion and is mad when she does not make it her proriety but never does the same in return?? Check! Constantly mocking her opinions or anythings she likes, including her own passion that she gave up FOR HIM? Check!!! I never understood why she even dated him in the first place, the guy had nothing going on for him. Even in their fight/make up scene they made it so much worse like he literaly forced her to stay by sitting on her car instead of just running after her. And god he was such a cliche with the "i am an artist and i want to follow my dreams but my parents don't understand me boohoo :( !!!!" thing. I could say I maybe would have liked him better had Shay had her own season (as she should have!!! And in my dreams she would have ended up with his exgirlfriend, serves him right for treating her like shit), but even then I'm not sure. I don't remember him being actually friends with them, like they definitely were a team and all but it felt like it was more "Tyler § Shay and Marlon" than anything else. Especially since these two were so much more interesting than him. So yeah, he was a real asshole, one of the worst love interest in the Skam universe in my opinion. At least Skam Austin not getting renewed (WHYYYYY) means that I won't see him and Megan get back together (no the season 2 finale does not count shut up) thanks god for that.

so you know how y’all are constantly like: “what’s there to like about season five???”. i decided to make a list *-*

1. the discussion of disability in a teenage show. how many teenage shows can you name featuring disabled characters? and how many of those feature a character becoming disabled in the course of the show and having to adapt to that? i was very surprised when i realized this was the route they were going to take this season and i think it was very well done.

so let’s break that down:

1.1 they actually made sure to talk about other disabilities. i know some people will say they were just doing the bare minimum, but i disagree. that is such a complex theme, they could’ve easily said representing other disabilities respectfully would be a lot of work for only ten episodes, but they did their best with the limited amount of time they had.

1.2 the representation of the deaf community wasn’t limited to their disability. it actually pisses me off hearing people say “wow, for a while there, i even forgot arthur was deaf!” as if he *has* to let you know everytime he’s on screen. disabled people are more than their disabilities, thank you very much.

1.3 overall, it was a positive representation. they could’ve spent so much time going through all the things that would be too hard for arthur, but they actually had an entire episode where arthur was completely deaf - he took his hearing aids off - and it was a very happy and positive episode. he was having fun, clubbing, dancing, laughing with others, and i think we took a lot of that for granted in the midst of everything that was going on, but that was a really positive representation that didn’t limit itself to stereotypes around deaf/disabled people. i actually expected that they’d drag a lot longer the feeling of loneliness and discomfort of the first couple of episodes, but they quickly changed that rhythm, so that instead of focusing on what arthur was “losing”, they focused on everything that arthur was gaining - new friends, a new love interest and a new way to see the world. also, in relation to the whole implants thing, they delivered very in depth opposite perspectives on the matter and never felt like they were shaming one group or the other.

2. SyMbOLisM! skam france is very good at it and they nailed this aspect in season three. but there was a lot of it in season five as well. like the 7am clips in episode 2, that were used to show the lack of progression in arthur’s hearing and his growing frustration and how those clips were incredibly dark, to match his mood. episode 7 also had such an interesting meaning. with arthur taking the chance to explore the world without his hearing aids, he got to explore a whole *new* world, and not a lacking one, which ties very well with what i just said about being a positive rep, but also shows that the entire episode wasn’t about arthur finding a new layer of himself, but rather him just uncovering one that was already there.

3. use of music/sound effects. it can be hard to represent deafness in a media like a tv show, but skam france did it so well. the use of music is always very conscious in this remake; while others really go hard in the soundtrack, skam france hardly ever has background music, unless it means something. another small thing but that i loved was whenever arthur was taking off/putting on his hearing aids, if he was to put the left one first for example, the sound on the left side of your headphone would start first. it was such a small thing but made the experience a lot more immersive imo, as well as the use of muffled sounds, pitching, etc.

4. Arthur. i am always surprised whenever i hear people say that they liked arthur better when they were not in his pov. i completely disagree, but then again, i feel like this fandom has very unhealthy expectations on their mains, as if they haven’t watched already 4 seasons of the main making mistakes over and over again, lol. i loved getting to know more of arthur - he’s loyal AF and protective of the people he loves. he struggles in letting people in, though, and never wants to be a burden or worry others. he’s perceptive and quick to notice when his friends need help. he is also short-tempered and when he gets mad, it is explosive, but he doesn’t hold grudges for long. he was a much more complexed character than i imagined and he totally made this season for me.

5. le gang. this boysquad is the best, sorry. they’ve always been the funniest and warmest, but it was really nice how s5 explored all the sides of that relationship, including the not so pretty ones. they were the relationship i wanted the most angst from, and i am so happy i got it. i loved seeing how chaotic, but supportive they were of arthur though and they brought so many laughs this season.

5.1 the lack of toxic masculinity. i think this ties well with arthur, because it is amazing to me that even though we were following a straight white boy as a main this season, we had no moments of unhealthy masculine competition; le gang could actually talk about other things rather than just porn stars and jerking off (other boysquads Wish!); and arthur would literally flirt with anyone without a care in the world, because he’s certain of his sexuality like that. it was *refreshing* for once not to be confronted with these tropes that have become so common in teenage shows.

7. alexia. i have to talk about alexia separately here, because that’s the most we’ve ever seen from a chris character (not counting eskam cris, ofc), and i loved her so much. she wants to be a videogame designer and she’s creative and adorable. she always knew how to make arthur laugh, but also knew when he needed words of affirmation and she was never shy in telling him how much she loved him. it was also amazing seeing her open up about some of her insecurities, and that her confidence is something she had to work on as well. she was such a great friend & girlfriend and just ugh the best.

7.1 the female characters are badass and unapologetic. i am aware that the love triangle was unnecessary and a mess. but i am not mad about the way both characters were represented, because they were both great characters. i liked alexia more simply because i was already attached to her from previous seasons, but noée was badass as well and teaches arthur so much, and not only about her experience as a deaf person, but about life/love in general.

8. arthur’s relationship with his mom. we LOVE and STAN parents in the skamverse. arthur and his mom had the best relationship ever; i loved how they truly became a team by the end of the season. but since the moment she showed up, it meant so much that arthur could have at least one supportive and loving parent, no matter how much he screwed up or felt lost. his mom was really trying her best and i adored her.

9. *actual* adult advice. i understand why all the adults in the skamverse are a bit cringey and weird, but i feel like this results in these characters relying on each other’s poor advice throughout an entire season before they realize what they actually should do. and the talk with the school’s nurse and his doctor by the end of the season was meaningful AF and i wish something the remakes would explore more often, because it could resolve so many of their issues just talking to someone who knows better, lol.

10. the relationships with the girlsquad. i know this is actually very intentional of skam france - to build a specific kind of dynamic between the main and all the side characters. we saw that in season 3, and i think it’s a lot more evident here, but it still made a lot of sense and warmed my heart so much. arthur and imane were the purest - she was the first one to notice that something was wrong with him and also reached out to give him advice on how medical school could still be a possibility even with his disability when she absolutely didn’t have to, but she’s just a sweetheart like that. arthur and daphné had a lot more tension, which is understandable, because both are protective of their own best friends (bas and alexia) and would defend them to the ends of the earth. i think they honestly have a lot more in common than they think. but my favorite dynamic was arthur and emma. i totally did not expect for emma to have such a part in this season, but every single one of their interactions was Gold. emma could see a lot of herself in arthur and i think that’s why she was so quick to notice that he wasn’t interested in becoming a surgeon at all. that scene when she says it would’ve been nice to have arthur as a brother was the sweetest thing Ever.

11. i’ll finish with the acting. y’all, the guy who plays arthur literally CARRIED this season and i hope his back is doing fine. he was So powerful - he made me cry, and laugh, and feel frustrated. he delivered every single emotion perfectly. i also think that the fact these actors are friends irl (i assume? lol but i think i’ve seen them in each other’s personal IG stories) really helps their chemistry on camera. le gang feels like a group of brothers/best friends and they were always so natural and effortless in their interactions. the new actors also Rocked and delivered so much emotion even if they were using a completely different language and it was awesome.

(also, this just literally applies to *me*, a lucas lallemant HOE, but it was so nice seeing lucas up close from a different perspective. the fact we could still see so many layers of him: his emotional self, his bratty self, his supportive self, even a touch on his abandonment issues and everything made me so happy. i think sometimes i forget the lucas character was real and not something i made up because he feels too good to be true, and it was really interesting seeing him from arthur’s POV).

i’m not here defending the mistakes they made in s5, i don’t think it’s a perfect season either, but tbh i have yet to find what i consider to be a perfect season in the skamverse, so here’s just some things i liked about this season that i feel like y’all should take into consideration as well. thx

Skamverse x Ace Week: Moyo Maandag

hello and welcome to my week of headcanons for skam characters who could have been ace because it’s ace week and we deserve more ace rep! to start these headcanons off, let’s reimagine one of the worst skam seasons to ever skam: wtfock s4. it’s a moyo season, and he’s heteroromantic asexual. headcanons below.

considering where moyo left off last season, his shame in his own season could be him coming to terms with his own prejudices and discovering the sources of those prejudices.

from an intersectional standpoint, some of moyo’s toxic masculinity could stem from the way masculinity is projected and forced onto moc by media and society, but as a white woman who hasn’t consulted poc in depth regarding this particular subject, I don’t feel comfortable going into depth on this aspect. however, it would definitely be a factor in forming moyo’s sense of self.

but from an asexual standpoint, moyo’s toxic masculinity, sexist comments, and homophobia could stem partially from his own fear of himself, his fear of how he’s different.

as some asexual folks initially identify as bi/pan bc they feel the same level of sexual attraction to all genders (though the level of attraction is low or none), moyo’s particularly poor reaction to sander’s “bisexuality” (not getting into bi/pan even discourse, just saying that before they have the pan conversation, moyo and aaron assume sander is bi) could be an expression of his own internalized biphobia.

moyo’s sexist comments, his tendency to reduce women to their bodies, and his focus on sexual behaviors could all be his attempts to compensate for the sexual attraction he doesn’t feel. he’s consumed the media, he’s around his friends and we all know how they are, he knows what he’s supposed to feel, and yet he doesn’t feel it. and that terrifies him. he thinks there’s something wrong with him, he thinks he’s wrong. and so he fakes it. he tries to imitate the behaviors he’s seen, but he gets it wrong, he always takes it too far. he doesn’t know where the line of too far is yet when he jokes bc he’s not speaking from experience, it’s not genuine.

none of this is an excuse for those harmful behaviors, but it’s an explanation, and one he would need to come to terms with in his season before he starts to make amends with those he’s hurt.

I think moyo’s journey would be particularly difficult and confusing bc his attraction to people of all genders isn’t exactly the same. he’s afraid it’s the same, hence his internalized biphobia, bc he’s sexually attracted to women just as much as he is to men (aka not at all), but he can picture himself being in a relationship with a woman. he wants a relationship with a woman. just not for the same reasons his friends do, and not in the same way relationships are always portrayed in media.

so his season would also show him navigating a relationship with a woman who he wants to be with but maybe not in all the same ways she wants to be with him. (bonus points if it’s noor bc I think they could have a really interesting and important conversation where noor expresses her own prejudices after an intimate moment that moyo backs out of bc it reminds her of her failed intimate moments with robbe. but they work through that and discuss all the ways that it’s not actually the same at all and moyo can work out his doubts about himself externally with her).

I think his season could also have a hella important conversation with the boysquad about how their misogyny as a group isn’t okay either and they need to stop objectifying girls while having hypersexualized standards for boys bc of how negatively it’s affected both moyo and robbe.

if anyone has any other ideas, anything to add, anything they’d like to change, pls let me know! I’d love to have more conversations about skam characters who could have been ace.

I was so optimistic about this season but I'm so bored right now why are we always seeing the same characters?

I love Luca but I would appreciate her appearances much more if it was more homogeneous through the season and I'm won't even talk about the other characters (blonde ambition and Kato because bruh) but GIVE ME YOUNES ELIAS AND THE BOYSQUAD BACK PLEASE

similar anon: Even though wtfock operates in real time; the real time feel is completely lost. But just as a reminder to us all we do see yasmina for about 5 mins max of her day (time lapses in clips not included). if we are rational about this, since yasmina and robbe arent particularly close friends and their day to day interaction probably barely amounts to any real convo, then we just wouldnt need to see it. It would be a waste

similar anon: I laughed when you said that they think they went too hard! I guess we have established how they see what they do with social media.

I mean I think peeps need to relax a bit. This is the same swan song we heard in s3 and tho I agree the clips arent super engaging just relax we are like 2.5 episodes in and am not sure what peeps expect like everything is not gonna unfold all at once. I will say I hate how wtfock is using their social. This is the actual issue. Sometimes I wonder if wtfock almost feels oppressed by the realtime social aspect of the show. Because they are so non-committal to the format. They literally do the absolute bare minimum thats why my connect was saying the social shouldnt have gone so hard the week of party because it gave people false hope that they would keep that energy.

They never do we have seen it time and time again. The characters never have fun banter via chat about dumb shit like what outfit they are wearing or posting stories literally doing silly things around school and this in my opinion is the problem. Wtfock uses their social to signpost that a clip is coming versus to develop the plot. Thats the difference between wtfock and the current airing remakes. They use their social to develop small plot points and show us how the other characters are doing.Wtfock just uses social to tell us they are going to drop a clip. Once the clip drops they dont care until the next clip. They were doing really good with younes/elias but once again now the energy has dropped you have to keep the same momentum throughout the season or people disengage.

A few highlights of the Druck panel

Their favorite lines:

Luise: I’m pregnant

Other characters they would have liked to play

Lukas: Abdi or Stefan

Carl: Matteo

Juliane: Sam

Tua: Kiki

Lilly: love Hanna too much but if she really had to then Kiki or Mia

Luise: Kiki or someone from the boysquad because she would love to fight for the braincell hcjfjjfjd

Tua thought the casting call was a joke because there’s no hijabi women on TV, even less hijabi actresses so she couldn’t believe it was real at first.

Lukas was very critical of the remakes because he is a big fan of OG. He was skeptical of Druck but admitted that the acting felt way more natural than anything else in German TV when he watched the first couple seasons. He really got interested because the casting call specifically looked for a trans actor. He did his screen test with Anselm because Michi was not available and Anselm actually makes a great Matteo!

Carl said that Stefan was a great boyfriend to Hanna to which Luise said HE COULD BE A GREAT DADDY and Lily was like DONT SAY THAT EWW!

Tua said her favorite thing about Amira was how strong she is, way stronger than she is herself.

Unpopular opinion

Season 3 of Skam Italia is incredibly underrated. It had like 2 meh episode after the brother thing especially because of the lack of girlsquad moments, 100% agree, but other than that it's super good and it had the best version of many Noorhelm moments (even better than OG) like for example :

- the entire sleepover clip (every second of that and then Edoardo singing Creep simply being too good for this world)

- the whole fight with the homophobes and everything that lead to that (the fact that we saw how it all started episodes before the actual fight)

- Filippo Sava being an amazing Eskild and Ele's actual brother and their lovely banter dynamic (the hug at the end 💕)

- Ele being the only Noora to tell her William the truth herself

- The reunion and Edo apologising explicitly for thinking only about his feelings

- Eva and Marti friendship still going strong in the background and how protective he is of her (probably the only Eva/Isak friendship that doesn't get forgotten after season 1)

- (I should probably screen my favorites shots when I get to season 3 in my rewatch because the cinematography is just as crazy good as it always is in Italia)

- The scene in the car where Ele opens up about her childhood and Edo promises he won't ever hurt her and how emotional it was and how much more powerful it gets when we actually get to see her mother and how she acts towards Ele

- The girlsquad and the boysquad hanging out together

- The fight between Edo end Ele and "ASCOLTAMI UN ATTIMO!"

- Edoardo Incanti in every single clip

As a german, what do you think are characteristics druck’s characters have but you wouldn’t notice as a non-native speaker? I read Matteo mumbles but i wouldn’t have noticed myself. Do they have accents? Does the way they speak tell you anything about their personality? Idk if this makes sense but i’m curious cause i get a much stronger feeling about people who speak my language.

oh this is super cool and there is no way i’m going to cover everything in this ask but i’ll try. also a lot of it might just be me rambling about language quirks that everyone can pick up on.

- first off: matteo. i’ve said this a lot but i absolutely love the way he talks and it adds a LOT to his character imo. he mumbles, which would usually be annoying and maybe it’s me and my rose-tinted glasses but it’s just super charming with him. it fits his vibe. he sounds cool, chill, awkward and quiet all at once.

- you know how in the early, awkward flirting stage matteo lights up like christmas tree when he talks to david? you can hear it too. i made a post here about matteos voice getting higher (that still makes me laugh every time), another clip where it’s pretty noticeable is the “kranker turn-up” one. when he invites david to his party, he sounds a lot perkier, his voice is slightly higher and he’s generally more enthusiastic. still mumbles tho.

- when matteo is nervous, he slurs his words even more, and he gets quieter, and sometimes his voice is a little higher. you can heart it when he compliments david on his drawings, when he greets the boys in his coming out scene, when he explains to sam how to measure a dick and in the “arschloch der stufe” clip where he apologizes to sara. that last one is especially bad, he sounds so apathetic and monotone and his words are a lot more slurred than usual.

- special shout-out to the “kann ich mir jetzt was wünschen?” (“can I wish for something now?”) line. i don’t know if you can hear it but the way he says it..... it’s all in the tone of his voice: the neediness, the vulnerability, the softness. he also kiiind of sounds like that in the coming out clip with jonas. it’s just…. in these scenes his voice carries the vulnerability of his character and it’s INCREDIBLE.

- now that we’ve discussed matteo being baby, here’s a thing people often forget: he’s also a bastard. and i don’t mean his general brattiness. he’s a softie but he has a bit of an edge to him that I think probably get’s lost in translation. some of his remarks, especially with the boys are downright mean, but not in a way that sounds intentional. it’s just that his tone sometimes misses the mark of friendly teasing and he ends up sounding like a bit of an ass lmao. it’s fine tho, we love him and forgive him.

- okay now david: lukas is someone who doesn’t slur his words at all and he speaks very clearly. this is especially obvious because most of his scenes are with michi who is the opposite. it might be the fact that he’s from hamburg (northern varieties of german are said to be closer to the ‘perfect’ hochdeutsch) or it’s just lukas being lukas

- you want to know what my first impression of david was when he and matteo first talked? this boy is afraid to speak up. if i look back at that clip now, i can barely believe it’s david. he is VERY quiet, his voice is very monotone and he just sounds… totally different, he even slurs his words in that clip. he warms up around matteo a little bit, but still in that entire clip his voice is a lot less melodic and he just sounds a lot less… alive than he usually does.

- the line that carries the most emotion in that scene is not “best music city ever” it is “what would you have wished for?”. when he said that he sounded a lot more like the david we know: kind, gentle and very clearly giving in to matteo.

- in the joints and sandwiches clip, david is a whole other person. i know you can see it but you hear it in his voice too. it’s seriously crazy, the way he talks is a lot more enthusiastic and not reserved at all

- the shy, monotone voice comes back a couple times in school, when he doesn’t seem to be entirely comfortable. i think it’s (again) most evident in the “kranker turn-up” clip when he gets his beanie back. he’s obviously trying to stay cool, calm and collected.

- again, special shout-out to two lines: “aber manchmal ist das anders” (“but sometimes that’s different” in his coming out scene) and “und unten weiß ich nicht” (“but bottom i don’t know” in the morning after clip). i don’t know what it is about these lines, but he says them in exactly the same way and it’s a tone/voice we don’t hear any other time. he sounds kind of… choked up, a little like he’s about to cry (even though he isn’t). he just sounds especially vulnerable when he says it, but it’s not like matteo who’s vulnerability sounds hopeful, desperate and kind of begging for love, for david it’s quiet, still holding back and like he’s afraid to get hurt. yes, i am most definitely reading too much into this, you’re welcome.

- i don’t know if we have successfully conveyed that “na?” is the stupidest conversation starter that could possibly exist. you could just as well say “hello i want this conversation to go nowhere”

- speaking of, their first conversation cracks me tf up because the whole “krass” “geht” exchange is SO awkward. david is actively working against having a proper conversation. god bless.

- the award for “character that is most lost in translation” will go to carlos. you know he’s funny but you don’t know HOW funny he is. people say germans have no sense of humor and they’re right. but i’ve found that very often, we’re funny not when we make actual jokes but when the way we say things are funny. it’s hard to explain but a particular choice of words can make a statement hilarious and i think i only ever laugh at german comedy when it’s that kind of funny. instead of “hey it’ll be cool if you could fix things with kiki” carlos says “das wär echt ‘n feiner, korrekter zug, wenn du mal die wogen ausbügeln würdest”; instead of “i’m not that ugly” jonas says “als wär ich so’n krasses gesichtsgulasch” and instead of “it matter how you say it” Kiki says “der ton macht die musik, ne?” (i’m quoting this from memory btw). so yeah. carlos is very funny and the way he talks is just… very unique to him.

- anselm is one of the best actors in druck. his lines always sound 100% natural and he makes jonas just… sound really cool.

- everyone has an accent. your mama, your cousin, you, me, everyone. but i know the question is if any of the cast have noticeable regional accents and the answer is no. they all speak a variety of german that is called “hochdeutsch” aka standard german. i’ve heard some mixed opinion on whether or not you can hear where everyone is from but the consensus is probably that it’s hard to tell. in my opinion, anselm and michi have the most noticeable accents, but if i just met them randomly i would never be able to tell that they’re from berlin.

- fun fact: out of the girl squad, the person who uses the most slang and gets closest to boysquad levels of dumbassery is…. amira!! actually, don’t quote me on this but i definitely feel like she says “digga” the most and she’s just generally… more slang-y idk. it makes her vibe a little more chill and less “proper”.

- OVERALL: i don’t think there are any character traits that get completely lost in translation but i think there is some stuff that just… enhances the characters and gives them a tiny bit more nuance if you understand the language. oh and a lot of the humor gets lost.

also, these are not facts, it’s all just personal observations and opinions.

Notes: I was reading this with tears streaming down my face, i am not kidding. They all love each other (and Matteo) so much. The second part read like a love letter to Matteo, but also to David and the boysquad, the WG and Mama Florenzi. It’s not a happy cheery christmas fic (though the boysquad have their moments) but an amazing one nonetheless.

Sneak Peak:

“I just wanted to ask you if Luigi is doing okay,” Jonas says eventually, dragging his teeth over his bottom lip as if he’s anxious about something.

Mmmm,” David agrees. Because it’s true. Matteo hasn’t been his usual cheeky shithead self the last few weeks, pretty much since December came and with it all the buzz and festivity of the season. Or not as often as usual; it hasn’t been frequent enough to cause genuine concern, but noticeable enough that David had broached it once a week ago, when they were all wandering around a Christmas market, warmed wine in their hands and laughter on their faces.

Matteo had been lagging behind a little, looking at everything with sad eyes and his smiles when they came were smaller than usual and more strained. When David had asked Matteo what was up, he’d mumbled something about his parents and how they used to come to places like this. Then he’d laughed, loud and insincere, kicked out at David, shoved a handful of snow down Abdi’s back. The rest of the evening he’d seemed more like his usual self and so David had let it be.

Maybe he shouldn’t have. Maybe he should have pressed a little more, tried to figure out what it was that had made him look so quiet and sad for those few moments before he covered it with the too-bright, too-loud laughter and silly pranks.

“Do you think we should maybe do something?” David asks now, leaning in closer, finally understanding why Jonas was trying to be so conspiratorial earlier

▼ - childhood headcanon (boysquad + Nico)

Gio and Marti met in primary school, bonded over Giovanni having the stickers Martino needed to complete his Album Calciatori 2007/2008. The Garaus are like a second family to Martino - a fact that had his mom feel so ashamed and guilty about how 2018 turned out, like, they must be all questioning how the heck she is fit to be a mother - and he's so glad the teacher paired him up with that weird kid with a lot of curls and a crooked smile that couldn't stop reaching out and try to befriend him even though Martino was giving him the cold shoulder.

Unfortunately they were in different classes during middle school, which made possible for Giovanni to befriend Elia. I agree with headcanon some other people have that Martino and Elia didn't click immediately, as they can be too similar sometimes.

They all fell in love with Luchino at first sight, as his chaotic energy and dorkiness was exactly what was missing in their trio. And the way he has just no brain-mouth filter? Awwww...

Now, childhood headcanon for Niccolò: he was very close to the grandma that gave him the apartment (Agnese Fares, from a wonderful bodyswap fic by @silenzio-assenzio ) who doted on him very much and found that both Anna and her own son were a bit too strict with him and were threatening to clip her "scricciolo" (wren) wings. It's not like he has been neglected, but he grew up feeling like he had to earn that love, if you know what I mean?

On the other hand his parents do love him a lot, but they tend to think they know better than him what he should strive for... And can be a bit too overbearing and nosy.

He spent a lot of time in his Grandma's apartment, growing up.

And then he met Malik and the other boys, who were intrigued by that sunshine boy who could draw, play and shamelessly make a fool of himself with girls ;p

that's an interesting question but I don't even know where to start because I want to know everything about him. first of all, his backstory, what happen with his parents and before s3 started, we basically don't know anything about that and i would really like to know what lukas and the writers wrote for him. then since like david im really interested in cinema and my dream is to be a filmmaker too i want to see what he did this year at uni (and i want to see is alien movie so much sigh). i would also love to see his relationship with laura, his friendship with leonie and the girl and the boysquad and obviously his relationship with matteo after an year togheter. i surely miss a lot but i really like this character and this season woul literally be a dream!

I’m actually getting fed up of this plot. I do not know where the writers are going but Younes isn’t a mind reader, he told Yasmina that he gave the ticket to someone else so he wasn’t expecting her to show up. To Younes she’s blowing hot and cold with no explanation and there’s only so much a person can put up with that. I love Yasmina and Nora is doing a fantastic job but for this plot I’m with Younes, but as for the girl squad ohh I hope Yasmina burns them they are all horrible.

I’m actually fed up with the girlsquad x blonde whatever plot. How I wish they would just drop it and never mention again. I wouldn’t miss it for a second. I wouldn’t mind a plot hole if that was actually a never ending hole where the girlsquad drama goes. Until wtfockdown the girlsquad felt like a pretty okay friend group but my gooood, I’m sick of them, and now they feel even a little more odd to me than boysquad which should tell you a lot if we think about how cold the boysquad can be.

And I already said this too, but kids, I don’t think the point is Younes going to the movies. The problem is the way Yasmina saw it. She’s clearly not Aïsha’s biggest fan and I hope they take that plot to the right direction. Aïsha, in Yasmina’s POV now, is that girl that annoys her just because she’s breathing. I think Yasmina is bothered by Aïsha so far because basically her family and the ones close to them see Aïsha as the perfect example, and Yasmina thinks she knows better than they do. She’s judging Aïsha like she hates how people can judge her too. I hope they go to the route of Yasmina and Aïsha talking at some point and Yasmina noticing how judgemental she is being. I think the way Friday’s clip was shot was to confuse use as to how intimate those touches were. If we think like Yasmina, we were seeing a girl that gets under our skin on a romantic date with the boy she likes, again! So of couse she’ll overthink every touch, every laugh, every look. At least that’s how I read the way that clip was shot, the shorts, very close images, the colors, the angles, etc.

I don’t think Younes is “putting up” with anything. He likes Yasmina. And she likes him. I think he’s actually being quite slow to see where things went wrong between them. I said about connecting the dots, but it’s even easier than that!

Younes, my friend, the girl texted you and Friday wanting to go to the movies. You said you couldn’t and she said you two could go some other time. THE VERY NEXT TIME you see her she’s wanting you to disappear from her face. I mean...what could have happened? So many options to choose from...

I’m not picking sides because Yasmina is overreacting (but she has the right, it feels to her like everyone is disappointing her left and right) and Younes is being waaaay too slow but I’m still 110% in love with their love, hoping they fix it already!

I’m with you about the girlsquad tho ✌🏻 goodbye, girls! And I know it’s still about to get even worse somehow.

so guys, this is it. this is the last chapter from my little baby. before you‘re reading it, I want to say THANK YOU. I was so anxious about posting my writing aka something which isn’t in my mother language but you all were so supportive! You guys don‘t know how much this means to me. The Demaurys and the Lallemants had been enemies for over one hundred years. And when Lucas first meets Eliott, he hates him with his whole heart even without knowing him, blaming him and his family for his life which is slowly falling apart. But when they are forced to live alongside in the same surrounding, something is changing between them. And this scares Lucas more than anything else.

“Oh, look! Those are cute.”

Lucas laughed as he stumbled after Eliott who didn’t let go of his hand for one second. That had been in the zoo for only some minutes and Eliott’s eyes were already shining bright with every little animal he saw.

But Lucas would do anything to make his boyfriend smile.

His boyfriend.

It still felt weird that they were official dating now, that Lucas could call Eliott his boyfriend and proudly introduce him to everyone who wanted to know about him and also to everyone who didn’t care at all. The media had thrown itself on this case for the first days after Eliott and Lucas had been seen together on the school for the first time, holding hands, laughing, exchanging deep glances.

But Lucas didn’t care.

He didn’t care about what the media said about their relationship, he didn’t care if the people liked it or not. All he cared for was Eliott and that they could finally be openly together now. No more hiding, no more secrets, no more fear, just the two of them being in love.

The boysquad had welcomed Eliott with open arms, Arthur and Eliott basically being best friends now. Basile said that he knew all along that about something going on between them and Lucas had only laughed and rolled his eyes because he himself didn’t know back then that they would end up together.

His dad was still having a hard time to accept that Eliott belonged to Lucas’ life now. That the feud was ended as Lucas’ and Eliott’s story only started. But Lucas didn’t give a damn about his father who hasn’t been home for one full day since then.

His mum, on the contrary, loved Eliott with all her heart.

Exactly as much as Eliott’s mum loved Lucas. He was always welcome in the house of the Demaurys, Eliott’s father handling all of this way better than Lucas’ father and especially his brothers who sent Lucas’ practically to hell now. But Lucas had only laughed at that, grabbed Eliott’s hand and walked past them, leaving them behind with all their hatred in their hearts.

But life has been good till now.

And life would continue to be good.

He loved Eliott and Eliott loved Lucas, he showed it to him every day with small gestures that made Lucas’ heart melt.

“Lulu, look, how fluffy they are.”

“These are apes, Eliott. They are not fluffy.”

“But look at their fur!”

Lucas laughed and shook his head at Eliott’s reaction. His boyfriend was sometimes a giant puppy and he loved this side of him. As he first met Eliott, he was all mysterious, closing every one out, not showing much of his emotions and how he felt. But now… now he was laughing loudly, smiling brightly, he was beaming brighter than the sun somedays and it made Lucas more than happy.

Lucas started to walk to the next cage, always a smile on his face. He remembered the time where he tried to drink himself happy, he remembered the time where it was hard for him to smile at all and there still would be times like this. But Eliott would be there. And Lucas would be there for Eliott, no matter if it was a good day for them or a bad day.

Lucas was standing in front of a cage now, squinting his eyes at the animal which should be inside of it. But then, he saw it.

A racoon.

And Lucas’ smile grew wider.

“Eliott?”, he called out and never took his eyes from the cute animal which was snuggling itself inside a pouch now.

“Yes, mon amour?”

Lucas jumped a little as Eliott approached him from behind so quietly. Eliott laid his arms around Lucas, the other one smiling at this natural habit of them. Lucas leant back so that his head was resting against Eliott’s chest. This was one of the moments where he couldn’t believe how lucky he was.

“Do you see that?”, Lucas asked, pointing to the cake and the racoon in it.

“Yes, it’s a racoon. They are cool.”

“Cool?” Lucas frowned and looked over his shoulder so he could see Eliott’s face.

Eliott grinned and nodded.

“Yes, cool. They’re wearing masks.”

Lucas was raising his eyebrows, chuckling quietly.

“True. They’re wearing masks. But you know what?”

“What?”

“It looks like you.”

Eliott snorted and turned Lucas around to him so that he could look down on him with that smirk of his.

“It looks like me?”

“Ouais”, said Lucas while nodding knowingly. “The little ears are standing out like your hair and they have this cute, little face, like you do, too.”

Eliott was grinning, shaking his head slightly and wrapping a strand of Lucas’ hair around his finger.

“Is this your revenge for me saying that you look like a hedgehog?”

Lucas gasped in an acted surprise, laying a hand dramatically on his heart.

“How could you ever think of something like that?”

Eliott only laughed and kissed Lucas’ forehead, getting closer to the cage and the racoon. The animal was now looking at them curiously.

“You see? He recognizes his brother.”

“Oh, shut up, Lulu”, said Eliott while laughing and not taking his eyes away from the racoon.

“But you are right, they really have a cute face. I think I will take it as my spirit animal now.”

“HA! I knew it”, said Lucas while wriggling his eyebrows.

“If it makes you happy”, said Eliott grinning and turned around now, facing his boyfriend again.

Lucas was nodding, wrapping his arms around Eliott’s middle part and laying his head in his neck to look up at him.

“You make me happy”, said Lucas quietly after some moments passed where they only gazed into each other’s eyes. Eliott’s smile went really soft, Lucas’ heart beating faster at this special smile which was reserved for him and only him.

“So do you”, answered Eliott and laid his lips on Lucas’, kissing him softly and lovingly. And Lucas let out a little sigh, melting at this wonderful kiss and this wonderful boy which he could call his boyfriend now. They had to face so many difficulties to come that far but every moment was worth because it ended like this.

Lucas always thought that his life was damned to be terrible. That everything he loved or held dear was damned to shatter. But Eliott was the proof that this was not the case. That there will be sunshine after long, long dark days. That there is hope in life.

Whenever Lucas was thinking that he didn’t deserve any of this, Eliott would prove him wrong. It was not easy, Eliott’s illness always present between the two of them. But when there were happy moments, like this exact moment, then it was even more beautiful. No one could understand the connection Eliott and Lucas had, the deep trust and the feeling of being home when they were around each other.

Their relationship was special because the circumstances of their pairing were special.

Because they were special.

“Should we go to the next cage?”, asked Eliott after their kiss, staying close to Lucas’ face. And Lucas nodded, taking Eliott’s hand and kissing the back of it quickly.

“Let’s go.”

I see a lot of people don’t liking skam italia S3 I didn’t watch it live so I don’t know what was being said during the season but why do a lot of people think it didn’t live up to the potential?

quick disclaimer: i liked season 3, but it’s definitely not my fave out of all of the ‘noora’ seasons, like season 2 was for the ‘isak’ season.

quick disclaimer bis.: this is my opinion. If any of you are reading this and want to add your opinion in the replies or reblogs or tell me why you think i’m wrong, feel free:)

and i’m a blabble mouth so it’s all under the cut because i dont wanna clog the tag and feeds🌻

basically, i loved incantava in s1, i loved the banter they had. If you remember Besse changed edo’s line after ele said ‘what a nice person you are’. In the og he said ‘who are you’ or something along those lines, but besse made him say ‘thank you’ and ele bounced right ofg that line into her perfect roast. Even the ‘sei bellissima cazzo’ clip had the same level of banter and chemistry. ‘you haven’t answered my texts’ ‘yeah’, but also the way she kept sayin ‘ahhh’ when he was talking. What I think changed the most in their dynamic for me was the long wait and how nervous edo looked before saying it, like you could feel the nerves and that he really meant it and by that point they had everything I had and I was hyped.

Then came the summer, i’m setting the scene here: i log on to twitter, to see there are rumours that skamit may have decided to swap s2 and s3, cue the_best_of_both_worlds_hannahmontana.mp3 because it was. It, for one, meant that i would get martino’s season sooner (but that’s not what you asked) and two, that incantava’s dynamic would be different. It meant that when the season would start they would have known each other for a year, grown together, talked more, their friendship or banter would have evolved. perfection. i kept imagining scenarios in my head even though i knew i probably wouldn’t see much as it was a boysquad season but still, i was hyped and my imagination was going wild.

Then came season two, such a good season, yes you can ask antis and they would tell you otherwise but i can tell you what i know, this season did so much for me, and it means so much to me. It helped me through so much and i’m really glad i watched it live. Besse did some minor changes that in the end changed the story but still made sense and made me want to walk through fire if it meant any of the characters would never be hurting again.

And even though ele essentially wasn’t in s2 i think that her talk with edo during the first clip again showed how well they worked together and how great they could have been

Then s3. In my opinion too many changes happened at once so it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly where things sorta fell through but, just a reminder, timvision (the production company) changed ceo or ceo-equivalent to a greedy money hungry guy who didn’t want to produce anything for free (aka a show like skam) so skamit became private and only for people who paid for a specific italian streaming service and besse was too busy editing and working on s2 so he hired ludovico di martino aka ludo 2.0 to direct on s3. And he did great, honestly props to the man because artistically s3 is amazing. but it’s not a skam.

For s3 most of the episodes were under 16 minutes, probably due to money hungry McGee (but maybe not) but different directors have different views so having the show be seen from someone else’s point of view, the outcome was bound to be different from besse’s. We don’t know exactly how much besse worked on s3, we know he edited some of it, but maybe he wrote it and did the storyboard and s3 would have had the same outcome if he shot it himself, but that is still a mystery.

As far as scenario goes, because the episodes were so short, and t*mvision gave up on the transmedia entirely and we barely got chats, the show (at least to me) felt empty. It felt like nothing really happened because we got like 4 minutes of clips during the week and a longer one on fridays, but since so many seasons were going at the same time, 6 epsiodes dropped on fridays and skamit sort of got lost under the pile because it just wasn’t really exciting? i dont know if that’s the right word but yeah. ALSO i have to say i have not done a full rewatch of s3 yet, i have only rewatched clips and parts i really liked, but i’ve heard it does better as a tv show than as a “skam format” which makes sense to me when i look at the way season three has been filmed. Basically a mutual of mine (hi elle if you’re reading this!!) has said that it actually works when you watch it as episodes as a whole and don’t wait for clips. So that, anon, is probably why you don’t see what we saw watching it live.

To conclude (yes i’m writing a conclusion, it feels appropriate), i think the reason why we live-watchers were disappointed and thought it didn’t live up to its potential was because they were set up so well in season one and two, but also we saw season one and two and how good those were so our expectations were so high, and maybe that’s where we fell through. If we didn’t have expectations we probably would have *loved* this season, but we expected martino, but dude this ain’t it. Also ele was like one of my favourite skamverse characters because i see so much of myself in her and i think i just wanted the best for her because i was projecting?

I don't think you got my ask :/ read the last part again, I never said I wanted to see Sobbe this season, I said I would rather have their plot this season, so we could get it already and let Yasmina have all season 5 to her, I'm sorry, I probably expressed myself bad but I don't think I did, at least reading it again. Every skam remake, og included, is known for not doing Sana any justice. Why? Because they care too much about subplots instead of her plot, I don't want this to Yasmina too

No I did read it and I get what your saying but lets look at the Sana season as a standalone. I think the evak couple is part of her season because it presents conflict belief(and the idea that there is always room for continued education in Islam) so for example I loved it in Italia s4. Because I saw Sana stand up for Marti her bff and even go to her brother and be like “do you have an issue with gay people?” and I love that her brother was like “are you serious my friend is gay?”. It was a beautiful moment for Sana to come full circle from when she told Marti that homosexuality was unnatural to being about to fight over defending it because she loves Marti and she isnt gonna let him be disrespected. I also love that we got a muslim males pov on queerness. Sana brother was like “wtf you think am homophobic” basically disgusted that she would ever think that and it also serves as this interesting narrative device because I am sure we all thought that homophobia was at the root of the fight in the tunnel between the rose squad and IT boysquad when it was like nah marti was being messy because sometimes he is a grumpy cat and gets jelly asf and gio wont let anyone hurt marti. I really love this narrative in the Sana season because we see her pov change not only on queerness and not misjudging it but to a point of defending it and about to debate it with her brother. I would love to see something similar with Yasmina (except no one hurt robbe he is to baby for that). I just love the lesson embedded in her season about Islam and homosexuality and how povs or opinions on things can change for the viewers who are not muslim but for muslims themselves. Ultimately keep sobbe and yasmina’s plots together because I think they compliment one another.
