How Jikook Found Me

Hi anyone who happens upon this!

**I'm going to preface this with the information that I don't know how to link stuff, embed etc, so hopefully my attempts to do so will work!!**

I've been thinking of doing a "how I discovered jikook" post forever, because I love coming across other's similar stories, and was inspired this morning by @jiminieloved post below:

We discovered jikook at pretty much exactly the same time, if in slightly different ways.

I first joined instagram around October 2019, after only being on facebook prior to that (I had started a twitter account at some point, but had never used it), and somehow the algorithm decided I would be interested in Larry Stylinson. I don't know why. I knew who One Direction were, but didn't really listen to them. I didn't know what a "ship" was, except for "Bennifer" and "Brangelina", and that's not even really the same thing, is it? Anyhoo- it turned out I was a bit of a Larry. They were adorable and what I saw was compelling at the time.

Then, of course, the algorithm started throwing in some other ships for my consideration, and along came the vmin ship videos.

I had no idea who they were at first. I had heard of BTS, vaguely recalled seeing them on some entertainment news program once, but (much to my chagrin, as I could have been listening to them earlier), hadn't paid attention. I'm embarrassed and a little ashamed to say I just remember they all had different coloured hair, were so impossibly pretty, and thought they were likely just a fad.

Don't hate me!! I would fight to the death for all 7 of them now!!!

But I digress! So, I thought vmin were so sweet. Nothing necessarily romantic there to my eyes, but I had an open mind about it, and I had never seen that kind of affection between males. I ate it up. I'm a 50 year old female (46 at the time), and from Canada, and this was so outside my personal experience. I adopted them into my heart. I watched everything I could find on instagram.

And then some stray jikook content started sliding in.

And I got worried. What about my vmin babies? Was my mischievous little V ( I didn't know him as Tae Tae yet) going to get his heart hurt? Of course, I was seeing stuff that had already happened years before in most cases, but all very new and "real time" to my heart, that was slowly turning a vivid purple without my knowledge 💜. But what I was seeing in jikook was quickly becoming undeniable in my eyes.

And I was blown away. My heart remembered what it was like to believe the stories I read and watched in romantic books and movies when I was young. I had decided that was all just the stuff of fiction, and that maybe I was a fool to have believed in it. But no- these two young Korean men were putting Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth to shame! In real life!! I had to slide over to YouTube. I had to start searching stuff like "the way Jungkook looks at Jimin":

And I was able to reconcile vmin and jikook for what I believe it is- no animosity, no competition (at least romantically) because it's two different kinds of love, both just as real. Not that I don't see moments in the content where I think our Tae Tae felt left out, but our babies (all seven of them) had all lived together and done everything together for so long, I think their relationships are not like anything most of us will ever experience or be able to fit into any tidy relationship categories. They are so much more than that.

Then I started wanting to watch original content, so I joined WeVerse and VLive. And then of course, as will happen, I fell in love with all 7 of our amazing, hard working, passionate, talented, brave, fun, impressive young men. I will love and support them until they are old men (or at least much older, as I won't be around as long as I fervently hope they will).

There is more, of course. So much more, but I've run out of steam for today! I do want to say that I joined tumblr because of jikook, as well. I first discovered @dalloga through the Korean Perspective video (they haven't been active for a little bit, but it's worth it to go read their blog, for those who haven't), and then @stormblessed95, and went further down the proverbial rabbit hole from there.

REALITY : you and yeosang were actually on a date. he took you out to a new café you had been wanting to go to. yeosang took you out on this date because it had been awhile since you had one-on-one time.

FANS THINK EXILE HER AND ATEEZ’S SAN ARE DATING AFTER BOTH IDOLS ARE SPOTTED WEARING SIMILAR HOODIES

TIME : late 2019

OVERVIEW : fans thought you and san were dating after IXLUVS seen you wearing a unique hoodie several times and then two months later, san was seen wearing the same hoodie in a vlive.

KQ didn’t put out any statement on this and after like a week or two, it died down and everyone kind of forgot about it.

REALITY : that hoodie is yours. hongjoong had repurposed an old hoodie you thifted. IXLUVS have seen you wearing it several times before san wore it. san was wearing because you were away on tour and he missed you and wanted to wear something of yours.

ATEEZ’S SAN AND EXILE HER ONCE AGAIN CAUGHT IN DATING RUMORS

TIME : late 2020

OVERVIEW : a picture of you and san kissing in a van was being spread around in both fandoms. the “fan” stated they spotted you two leaving the hospital and had shared a kiss before your manager had joined.

many ATINY and IXLUVS were saying the photo was edited and to stop spreading it around. it was revealed that the op was a saesang of yours.

KQ released a statement saying that the photo was fake and asked fans to stop spreading it and that they would take legal actions to protect their artist.

REALITY : you and san actually did kiss in your company van. this was right after you were discharged from the hospital after your car accident and san had come to help you home.

ATEEZ’S WOOYOUNG AND EXILE HER POSE SEDUCTIVELY IN W KOREA PHOTOSHOOT

TIME : mid 2021

OVERVIEW : you and wooyoung were staring in a drama together and many netizens had commented on how such strong chemistry you both had. some atiny mentioned that wooyoung was a social butterfly and had good chemistry with a lot of people.

the drama got good attention and so you and wooyoung were featured on the cover of WKOREA. the photoshoot was intimate and played on your strong chemistry that everyone was loving. a few ATINY (that are also your antis) thought the photoshoot was too much and were saying that wooyoung looked uncomfortable in the the behind the scenes. which in reality wasn’t the case.

REALITY : you guys have been dating for three years, that’s why you have good chemistry.

REALITY : you and yeonjun thought it would be funny to do some interactions with each other to try and make wooyoung jealous. it worked btw.

i'm kind of insane about wayv its what i used to be known for on tumblr before i deleted my nct blog so, i'm gonna ramble below the cut

FIRST OF ALL. wayv is my favorite nct unit. just some basic overview:

they debuted in january of 2019 as a cpop group completely separate from nct, under label v (sm entertainment but in disguise and in china)

the connection to nct was always there -- winwin was a member of nct 127 since debut (even before johnny and doyoung was added, and jungwoo was added to 127 to "replace" him) and was never removed from 127 on paper. ten debuted with t7s unit, which was nct's overall debut. kun performed without you (chinese version) when he was a trainee

they debuted with regular (chinese version), which was initially a 127 song. they also had come back (chinese version) on their debut mini, which was also originally a 127 song. technically their first song was dream launch

wayzennies don't consider regular their real debut because fucking sm couldn't be assed to let them debut with their own song smh we hate sm here

their first comeback and their debut in wayzennies' hearts was take off

after that, moonwalk, love talk, turn back time, bad alive, kick back, then they went on a cursed haitus, then they broke hiatus with phantom and now, omy

dream launch, take off, moonwalk, and turn back time are their lore music videos. wayv is the only nct unit to have lore btw!

resonance (nct 2020) was a huge era for us because that was the first time they were officially acknowledged as a unit of nct. before that, fans had to put together compilations of nct members mentioning wayv members, renjun got in trouble for mentioning winwin's name in a vlive once, and taeyong once had a vlive where he said "wayv members are here" (but he had to whisper) and showed them in the distance and waved and everything and the fandom went wild

you really had to be there, all nct units (including wayv) changed their profile pictures for 2020 at the same time and the teaser for the resonance project included shots of wayv. i almost cried.

now. lemme talk about music

wayv is one of the music units, definitely. 127 and wayv both have very distinctive musical identities that are reflected throughout their discography

btw, nct units used to have interludes on their full albums. it's more of a yearly full nct thing now, but it was used in regular (127), neo zone (127), awaken the world (wayv), and then resonance (2020) to kind of pull their entire concept together with the signature nct chime. nct interludes are also just some good music !!!

wayv as a unit has a very dramatic sound, the take off/moonwalk/turn back time holy trinity definitely is very consistent in sound and has prominent rock/orchestral elements in the instrumental plus the signature guitar dance break

a lot of their songs are produced by ldn noise and moonshine

on my youth is actually a departure from their old sound. moonlight sounds most wayv 1.0 in their album. the rest of the album is definitely wayv 2.0, which is great because it kind of signifies their transformation and renewal post-dozen

other

if ur chinese: kun and xiaojun's cover of red bean

when they debuted they had a project called rainbow v where they created their own content

wayv has their own version of nct u where they break out into subunits. kun & xiaojun back to you, ten & yangyang low low

they have iconic pets. they even have pet merch. my little friends bias is bella, obviously. just look her up on youtube, she peed on livestream more than once and also has pooped on the sm practice room couches before, also is afraid of her own reflection

wayv on weekly idol

they had two seasons of wayvision on seezn but it's a korean show and, while certain parts are fun, it was a little awkward. right after debuting they had a show called wayv's dream plan which was filmed in china and a lot more fun

of course because i'm me, if you're chinese speaking you should check out their huya lives. i'm not sure that they're subbed in english tho

for translations i'd recommend bun bun, wayv china station, and faith (she's actually my favorite, she does a great job at translating colloquial language and remaining faithful to the 'vibe' of what was said in chinese)

Hi Stormy~ I'm a relatively new army, and I've been digging through old stuffs for the past few months. Recently I find some of the lives quite enjoyable, but there are so many of them and most are quite long. Do you have some favorite moments of the members' lives that are definitely worth checking out?

I didn't enjoy rap music before getting into BTS, so I didn't check out the album earlier other than knowing the cover arts and photoshoots are beautiful. I randomly came across “Lonely” and fell in love with the whole album. It's really different from what I originally imagined. It really is an album worth keeping for decades.

responding to one of your past asks, disregard if this has already been discussed at length

Off the top of my head, I cannot remember the last time even JK mentioned TH.

How does anon stack up JK's mentions of other members and then entirely ignore the multiple times JK did mention TH in his lives around that time? One example being him talking about Taehyung misunderstanding some of the lyrics to Vibe and that being "so funny." A trivial mention but it implied they watched the MV together.

Since the vlive where he watched Yoonmin's Suchwita EP and JM's MV (which, btw, stacking those up against TH for your argument makes no sense when TH currently has neither of those things) he also randomly shared a song "Taehyung likes." Again a trivial mention but suggests they're in frequent contact.

These mentions weren't "necessary" so were these manipulative on JK's end too, anon?

But for what reason could TH be bringing up JK at any chance he has in front of ARMY? TH doing a live for less than ten minutes and not even a minute in he’s mentioned JK. Saying “JK is here” during a live for no reason, what purpose does that serve? Posting him on Instagram, saying he wants to do livestreams with him.

Saying "JK is here" for "no reason"??? Wasn't him mentioning that his friends were over playing games also for no reason, so was that manipulative in some way? His short lives have been random in general, even when he makes no mention of JK. Maybe he name dropped JK that time because, I don't know, ARMYs know and particularly care about JK versus other friends? When Namjoon tells us he saw Jimin, when Jin says he got a drink with Jhope, is that manipulation? Or is it because it simply makes sense to mention each other in the context of talking to ARMY? You could say it's technically a type of fanservice, but it also feels as natural as the way someone would say "hey I saw John the other day" to a friend who actually knows John rather than a friend/acquaintance who that means nothing to bc they don't know John, so analyzing this to this extent seems like getting lost in the weeds.

I don't see the point of getting into such a tizzy over these mentions being fanservice or manipulative especially since, as anon pointed out, there's nothing "suggestive" being mentioned and there's nothing inherently queer about two friends hanging out.

And this is not even a situation where we have room to question the veracity of their friendship, it's not as if we only ever see them together in company released content and have no real knowledge that they spend time together besides. Regardless of their relationship status Taehyung and Jungkook have been undeniably spending time together by choice during this solo era, so clearly they like each other and are actually friends; so honestly who cares about mentions or lack thereof. And once again, I don't see people digging so deep about friendships like Minimoni, Jinhope, Jinmin, etc. that also mention eo and show up for eo.

Meet Cute Anniversary (Part 2)

... the June 4th saga continues.

I've only thought of these instances in fragments so I didn't know how much there could actually be related to their first meeting... apparently really a whole lot OTL Part 2 is going to be a lot longer than Part 1 because I ain't doing a Part 3. meh. I've also seen threads on twitter before, but trying to compile them from scratch based on memory is hard...

But thanks to this exercise and my desire to make things entertaining I learned how to screen capture, make gifs and resize shxt. this dinosaur is evolving hoho

Before going into Jin's version of events, the latest addition to Jk's chamber of lies: from the newly released Memories of 2021, Jk is shamelessly tricking his members with what June 4th means again. 'Oh you think that? Oh, ok.' 🌝

During the filming for their jacket photoshoot the members were discussing what each of their 6-digit serials meant, so Suga asked Jk "Is that when you came to Seoul?" "Yes! When I came to Seoul!" Then Jk 👀 > Jin (next to Tae)

(This kid is so happy and cute whenever he gets away with mentioning his anniversary on camera 😭❤️)

Disclaimer: this one goes a little into shipper territory. Anyways, it's based on opinions and observations.

Because June 4th is Jinkook's anniversary of when they met, Jin is part of the equation. However with Jin, he never mentioned the 'date' itself but rather only the event.

That day, the new trainees were asked to observe their sunbaes, so Jin knew he had to gather at the practice studio with the others. While talking and laughing with friends, Jin walked through the door without much thought. He was ready to take a seat and turned his head slightly towards the crowd on the floor. As if the bright flash from a camera went off, he blinked and squinted from the sudden glare. There was no camera nor did the sun suddenly shine through the low ceiling of the studio, but Jin did suddenly meet the straight gaze of a 15-year-old boy. The round eyes were clear and bright, like a baby deer's caught in the headlights of an oncoming car- (added for dramatic effect) The two locked eyes and for a heartbeat, the universe stopped short. Blood rushed to Jungkook's head and made a whooshing sound, so loud he could barely hear the handsome older guy's question "Who are you?". Jk sat there for a beat, then being sensible, he quickly realized that it would be rude to have his elder come to him so the kid unfurled from his anime girl seated pose, stood up in a rush and walked towards the older boy. Jin smiled as the kid introduced himself all flustered "Ah! My name is Jeon Jungkook!" The two exchanged greetings properly and sat down side by side, hearts thumping oddly fast.

Reads like a fanfic because it's my romanticized version.

Ok I'm allowed a delusional pill once in a while. this whole space could come crumbling down at any second

Before getting into it, I'll make my excuses first - I won't be able to remember all the instances of Jin mentioning [the first time he saw Jungkook at 15yo with big doe eyes] because there's too many, it feels like a blur with their 613 million hrs of content... It's also because Jin tends to mention it in fragments, sometimes the whole thing, sometimes just the eyes, sometimes in a passing remark... I'm not confident about collecting ALL

BTW Jin too seems to have a case of misremembering things. Other than 'Jeon Jungkook', '15 years old', and 'doe eyes', details seem to be changing all over the place...

Not going chronological because it doesn't matter, this is one of my favorite instances:

When he stopped talking for a brief second to look at Jk's photo, and then started to tell the story of seeing Jk for the first time I could tell how fond he was of Jk.

Jin's retrieval cue for memory of first meeting: Jk's side profile. He talked about Jk for the longest , and ended the live because he thought of Jk, missed Jk, and wanted to go see Jk.

In this live, Jin said Jk was sitting on the sofa, which might be the only time he mentioned this.

Very recently, when the script called for them to reminisce their past selves, Jin seized the day to cue doe-eyed Jk:

They were supposed to answer questions as their younger selves for the show segment and technically they all agreed on their ages at debut, which would make Jk 17yo but Jin called on Jk while saying 15yo instead. Some of them did discuss using other ages, like Jin's one was the most absurd ~2yo. But Jk wasn't shown asking to use a different age.

In Jin's mind, Jk must have remained 15 for a long time.

Look how happy he was when Jk tried to imitate his 15yo self. Jin's always one of the members laughing hard after Jk tries something funny.

Going back in time, this should be the earliest instance Jin talked about meeting Jk for the first time on camera:

Here, Jin sounded like he'd been waiting his turn and had rehearsed the whole thing before when he spoke. I don't really need to write out what's in the screenshot, it's the same story.

Here's the earliest instance ever of them bringing up their first meeting in a Japanese magazine:

For a unit interview with Jin, Jk and V (the J reporters sure know what they're doing), he bought it up. And again, the case of ever changing details... is it the same day or a couple days apart? We'll never know.

No matter about that, the important part is them meeting, and during the meeting, Jk had big doe eyes and was 15yo. And it was June 4th.

You know how good students only memorize keywords to bring out the whole concept during exams? I feel like this was what they did. Boil it down to the essentials then someday, when time allows, they're going to tell us word for word, what they wore, what the weather was like, what they said, if their knees touched... they can save it for the wedding, honestly. I don't really care that much.

Moving on. Another excerpt from their Japanese content:

Plus I'm laughing at how Suga, RM and Jhope were referred to as just 'the rappers' 😂. Out of all the things from that day, Jungkook was the most important. Jin did go on to say that RM left a strong impression on him with his dancing, but then I also recall during their BTS Begins VCR, Jin made sure to place Jk in the memory too by pointing at him and exclaiming "you were there too!" when talking about RM.

If anyone has read this far and is thinking wow, he really does talk about Jk and his doe eyes a lot, think about how often more the members have to listen to him. Just the amount of times he might have said it on camera but didn't make it to the final cut, or to friends and staff, or after one beer too many, "Did you know the first time I saw Jungkookie...his doe eyes-"

Because thanks to Jin, Jk is now permanently associated with deer eyes:

RM instinctively went "Jungkook..." after hearing Jin say 'deer eyes'. There's also a fox in the drawing but it's like he didn't even see the fox. Jin only picked it because of the deer. The bias.

At this point, I think it's safe to assume the members are primed to know Jin and Jungkook joined Bighit together, and how cute Jin thought Jk was when they first met.

A trivial coincidence: this live was exactly 4 years after Jin started reminiscing about Jk in the middle of promoting their merch aka the first instance mentioned.

RM automatically said 'eyes of a deer' to Jin saying 'Jungkook...15 years old'. A true leader listens, and therefore is more easily primed than the others.

Of first meetings, I know a few other pairs like Jihope, Namkook and Taejin are also famous for them but they don't mention it without prompting like Jinkook does. Tbh I think Namkook and Taejin's stories are way more interesting than Jinkook's like one has 'honey thighs' and the other has 'dirty dancing'. Jinkook only has, what, their eyes met from across the room? And??

But to Jin and Jungkook, it's clear that their meeting with each other has the most significance. The sheer amount of times they talked about it. I'm not even touching on anything else from their relationship, like the 11 years from that point onwards that they've spend together. I've just written some essay length compilation on just one day. I'm impressed and horrified.

And then let's circle back to Jk for a sec. Taking a deeper dive into shipper territory here

So did we all think Jk's obsession with June 4th 2011 ended with him talking about it any chance he gets?

No no no, he inked it.

Yeah no I didn't draw the numbers, the tattoo artist did and added that sticker.

For context, Jk used to just have the skeletal hand in the middle. The new tattoo artist added color and the surrounding extensions.

So. What do you know, 20110604 again. Before seeing this, I didn't even imagine this tattoo would have anything to do with Jinkook. Before the artist's hint, zero idea; after, omg it's so obvious.

And that emoji... that's the finishing touch. What, the artist is embarrassed because Jk joined BTS...?

The little ❤️ in the corner too. That's really sweet.

He deleted the story within an hour of posting. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Understandably, those who know that see this post will get it instantly.

And it took me a second to realize that boi had the date tattooed on him since the beginning.

First round, he got only BTS/Army related ones (Just a random thought does anyone else think the initial tattoo on his shoulder looked like a whale not an angel? Just me? Ok), the next round he got this hand sign and the tiger lily. (I'm saying 'rounds' tentatively because it looks like Jk got multiple tattoos during a few single sessions.)

(I'm also glossing over the fact that he tattooed the single letter 'J' on his ring finger during his touchup session right before vacation ended. You can tell it was recent from the 2019 airport photos because of how pink the flesh looked around the ink and how deep and shiny the black was. That's the look before the tattoo scabs and heals fully.)

I guess he decided the previous version was too subtle.

11 ~ 6 ~ 4

When I discovered I could spot the 11, 6 and 4 in the hand without the newest add-ons, I thought my shipper brain was in overdrive. I'm being delusional. Not everything is related to Jinkook I know that!!

If we didn't look for 'numbers' in the tattoo, one will never know about 11.6.4.

Because... maybe he is into hardcore heavy metal🤘🏽 That's why the skeletal 'sign of the horns' tattoo. Or he could have meant it just as 'rock on!' because he's a singer. So I dug a bit more to see if my observation stands.

Quick and easy, a simple search determined it's not some fluke that 11.6.4 can be found. Jk forced the '6' and '4' to both appear in his tattoo. I will explain.

Some examples of skeletal 'sign of the horns':

The drawings all somewhat follow human anatomy and this rule: either the thumb reaches the pinkie and forms the figure 6, or it doesn't and allows 4 bones to be shown across the palm. Jk's one has both.

Maybe the most significant and yet subtle way they've brought the date to our attention is through their songs. My two lovebirds are rockstars and like rockstars, they'll write about each other and romance.

During Festa 2019, Jin released Tonight on June 5th midnight KST. Then exactly one year later on the same day in 2020, Jk released Still With You.

Why June 5th? Can't know for sure. It could be caution, or something more nutty like 'it's still June 4th somewhere in the world' ... who knows. But it can't be ignored that the 2 songs are released right on the cusp of June 4th and 5th. It's the tipping point into the next day, displays as the 5th, but could still count as the day before. And if you place the two songs side by side and read the lyrics, it's a matching set. And if you read the lyrics, it might make sense why midnight, why nighttime, and how specific certain details in the song can't really reference fans or pets...

Noticeably, Jk's verbal mention of June 4th really started around the beginning of 2021, after both songs have been released and his tattoo has been on show for more than a year. Compiling things now might make it look 'obvious' but hindsight is 20/20, and he's tried to make the meaning of June 4th appear as ambiguous as possible.

On the other hand, Jin has been consistent. He used to talk about their first meeting almost every year, and shows signs that he remembers till now. Out of the two of them, I would say Jin is the better expert at hiding in plain sight. I shall have much to say on this topic someday.

So to sum it up the 2 of them had used the date to release songs, and had it tattooed, talks about it a lot...

and re: dc notes feeling different (not my ask btw!), I feel the same way! I think you put it into words really well. I've sorta seen the same thing happen with the other group I follow behind the scenes stuff for, where at a certain point in their careers (and definitely during the pandemic), things became a lot more "catered" to fandom rather than a group of people hanging out and sharing a really unique and interesting experience together.

Things kinda feel more.. celebrity (?) now? Like, it's much more apparent to me in some notes and stuff that yup, they're celebrities (which.. kinda made maison a sore spot for me in a few ways, but that's a different story!). Which, duh, but it felt easier to find moments of just silliness and human connection in a lot of the older stuff, and I feel like that's sorta a thing that just happens at a certain success point, where maybe people have less of a desire to share every part of themselves on camera than earlier days. Which is fine! I'm all for more privacy for them, but I agree that I'd be happy with shorter notes with some moments where they're having fun and being together than curating messages or whatever to the fandom. I'm a fan because I love their music and performances, and I watch behind the scenes stuff because I care about /them/ and enjoy /them/ and enjoy /them having fun together/, not because I want to feel recognized as a fan lol

which is also probably why twitter isn't the place for me either, I go on occasionally but have to dodge/block a lot of the weirdo fighting and possessiveness. I wasn't on twitter until idk, a year ago maybe to keep up with content better and ehh lol I imagine it's a lot more sore to have been part of the active fandom pre-2019 and then to see those spaces you were in (and building) change so fast.

That being said! Gosh! You have really done so much, and I use that masterpost of content probably weekly just to find stuff I enjoy, it's such a huge help! Your gifs are always god-tier, and I enjoy reading your thoughts about dc stuff. and yeah exactly, I think in a way the dc notes just started following more of a vlog format which is understandable with everything that went on at the time. I do agree with the celebrity thing to an extent, in vlives and concerts they still feel the exact same, the levels of chaos have remained unchangeable so far asdkjh I do agree that they’ve been passing off that image more on the dc notes tho. but like I said I do think they’re slowly getting back to the old format in the sense that in the group ones at least we’re starting to get more of those small moments again. tbh I haven’t seen the solo dc notes of the special clips or the practices bc it’s all very similar... I think dcc could’ve done better with the release of the special clips themselves, I feel like at this point the momentum has completely died out for the special clips 💀 I get that they wanted to space it out to make the most of the content but idk I think they could’ve done it a bit better. I was really looking forward to the solo clips back in the beginning of the cb but that was in march/april? and it’s now july and not all of the special clips are out yet........ I think they dragged it out a bit too much specially considering that the first one was released two months ago already :/

but yeah tbh abt twitter I’ve never been that active there, it’s always been a platform that has never really resonated with me much but even then the change has been really felt, but oh well. I’ve come to make peace that if some content is truly important it will reach me one way or another asdkjh

So hi, today, tonight rather I've finally had the energy to start my online journal which I'd been contemplating doing for a while now. It's around 11pm I just kind of woken up from a nap T.T did not know what else to do, not in the mood to watch any series/movie, don't have the attention span for that rn lol currently listening to The 1975 newest album - All I need to hear currently playing suddenly it feels like circa 2015 all over again haha listening to the best artist and starting to blog. I will start with the interview then.

Yes, omg, JK actually said the words "I love you, I love you" to Tae, who was first to try and hit the balloon with the dart and succeeded. He earned 4 points. Was it to congratulate or placate him I don't know, but it sure in hell wasn't a profession of love.

passstt can you do your best to explain the ‘universe’ in depth or at least so it’s understandable bc my ass is clueless 🙃

so, this is my dumb brain linking stuff so please please take this all as what it is — my stupid brain's stupid thinking. this is also the first time i've linked it all out in order. so bear with me. this is loooong. in this universe, we have like three parts: mixtape: on track — b me — mixtape: oh. and it deals with tangled romance and the consequences it has on friendships.

MIXTAPE: ON TRACK

so in mixtape: on track, the universe sets off with the boys in high school, final year, i think. minho and hyunjin are the leads in our whole universe. jeongin is like hyunjin's best friend in this au. they are film and art majors (?) and have this project i presume to make a short film (?). chan deals with the sound, jisung with the lights, changbin with the props, hyunjin with the videography, felix is directing and seungmin is the writer. minho is the main lead in this film and jeongin is a side character in this film.

insert female lead. female lead is close friends with both hyunjin and minho. it's pretty evident that minho and hyunjin likes her and hyunjin constantly does feel bad over minho and her getting closer, because well, he likes her. this feeling turns into a distaste soon enough (as seen in how hyunjin feels pathetic after the girl takes both the drinks from them + how minho shoots the goal while playing soccer and like hyunjin and minho have this weird cold gaze exchange. in both these situations, jeongin is around to help hyunjin. i'll get to this soon.) so like our boy minho and her clearly have sparks and hyunjin dislikes it. high school jealousy, if anything.

that's when hyunjin decides to take action and while shooting, when minho has to grab the female lead's hand, he butts in and holds her hand. all because he likes her and he's done being the second lead in this story. the mv ends here.

now, about jeongin, he did mention in one of his vlive that he was like a guardian angel and i do think he's like a friend that really really cares for hyunjin and doesn't ever want him to get hurt. so the whole mv wraps up in this plot of how hyunjin takes action right when minho and the female lead are slowly getting things going for them.

and then we get the unveil track of b me, (how i wish they dropped the mv for this rather!). i'll make a list of stuff that happens in b me first and then tell you how my brain linked it up.

i presume the hyunjin grabbing the girl's hand, ofc, did not sit right with minho because technically, minho and her were a thing almost. and that ruined the friendship. this also caused the whole film shooting to turn chaotic, i presume because hyunjin's gaze in the on track mv seemed determined so i think he wasn't ready to back off either. the filming team clearly breaks apart because of this. the tension between minho and hyunjin is still very high. the team is frustrated. jisung burns the film competition form because what's the use of joining when there's no team? changbin is sad and angry and has emotions he is frustrated over (just like the other members!!) because they aren't together as a friend circle distinctly because of the feud between hyunjin and minho. they used to play basketball together (the whole of the ending part!) but not anymore.

now, we see how minho meets with an accident. i'm a bit confused with this part (this is why we need the mv for b me, jyp!!!!) but i'll state out everything i think.

a) jisung is to minho as to what jeongin is to hyunjin.

b) the accident could be solely accidental? maybe minho ran off in a fit after an argument with jeongin and hence why jeongin has the bruises and maybe in that heat, minho could have had the accident.

c) i presume jisung rushes to help him because human guardian angel of sorts of a friendship.

anyhow, i think the small clip of video tape that felix pulls out in the beginning is what they watch together. i do not think this has any correlation to the intense story besides adding the fact that they were reaaaaaaally close because they all look super happy in that shot, omg!!

MIXTAPE: OH

and now here we are, mixtape: oh. (watching and pausing the mv to go as detailed as i can with my storytelling.) this, since it was a mv, we get a story as solid as the first one (thank you, jyp. i hate you generally but thank you for this.)

so we have all the members in the drama club room. the same room we saw in the first mv i think. everyone's gathered back there, picking up their stuff because they have graduated, except for changbin and hyunjin who haven't come. jeongin searches and hopes expectantly for hyunjin to come. the blue certificate kinda thingy (I have no idea what it is. i don't read korean either and my google translate couldn't pick that up :((() is something of hyunjin's and i think minho did want hyunjin to come to this sort of reunion because he gets angry and picks up the blue thingy. he's either mad at that, or he is still mad at what happened in the past. i'm not sure. either ways, jisung is worried too as to what minho is going to do and over what he is feeling. oh, also, minho is in a cast, which means it does go exactly in the order i mentioned !!!

we then see hyunjin (shit, i cried again!) and he's painting an eye (is this a relation with some other skz song i will never know) and i think he took up art after dropping from film club so like he could distance himself from the rest of them, because well, he was 1/2 of the reason why this all happened.

we have the members reminiscing again, thinking about the good times and bad ones too. jeongin is in a tunnel (the boy is always in a tunnel. is this again a link to other mvs i do not know) and changbin goes to the drama club room all alone after everyone leaves and like i think he removed the sign of the drama club room and in my head, it's a symbolism for how everything has finally ended. all the memories they have had had finally ended with their graduation, of sorts, in that moment for him. jeongin, who is in the tunnel calls for hyunjin, like a last thread of hope he clings on to, expecting for him to finally meet them and come back to them. hyunjin doesn't pick up the call.

minho is still packing things up and as he looks through stuff he sees a calender with their anniversary date marked and he remembers of the team together once again. everyone really badly misses the old days. we see jeongin who goes to buy that drink again that he stole from hyunjin in the on track mv and he remembers felix in that moment.

felix who is in the library is with a cake. so i presume it is his birthday because he lights the candle on the cake up eventually. i think he did want to celebrate it with the team as a whole but because of the fall he can't. he opens a book and see the quote, "dreams come true to those who really want them," (we see this on the jisung bus stand shot too btw!!) and he goes on to make a wish on his cake and ie think he wished for them all to be together once again, living the happy memories again. hence the beautiful shots in the end I AM IN LOVE.

so i had this sorta ex lmao who told me this beautiful metaphor once when we broke up about how i left him on the bus of our memories and it was only i who got down and that our timings didn't match. and i think my brain instantly correlated those two, oops. so like the bus is a train of thoughts, a passageway for them to remember the happy memories. changbin remembers the happy memories he had as he looks through hsi phone with the basketball in his hand. jisung also enters the bus and remembers the moments they shared. oh, also changbin leaves when jisung enters. the timings don't match.

TIMESKIP. because this is based off kdramas for sure and what are kdramas without timeskips lmao.

minho's arm is healed. (he's also wearing such a pretty fit i want to steal!) minho goes and tried to meet hyunjin at his art studio because he wants to give it a try, this whole friendship again, i think, but hyunjin isn't there. so he leaves him a note and the certificate (??) blue thingy (?? what is it someone help me!) hyunjin comes back to see them both. this is what happens in the mv, in correlation with the other mvs.

they could clearly make another part of them actually getting together. but personally, i think they do and like felix's wish comes true because the directing is such that they end it with felix opening his eyes. (i also don't want to think of a sad alternative where felix opens his eyes only to remember reality is still the same and the feud still exists. i refuse. in my head, the next part has them coming together just like that in the snow!)

Hi! Sorry for spamming you, I just found your blog and I love it! <3 It's kinda refreshing seeing someone who's not afraid to state that they believe Changlix are in a romantic relationship - and not, as is often the case, backpedal immediately afterwards saying it's only *a joke* (queer people... we exist outside of shipping). My question, and I hope it hasn't been asked already, is: if you had to pinpoint a moment, when do you think they got together? Because Felix has always been pretty forward about what he likes, but I think Changbin had to come to terms with a few things before getting to where he is now. They did have a different upbringing, after all.

i don't think i deserve praise for openly saying i believe that felix and changbin are actually in a relationship though, although it's totally possible to find my main blog through this one, tumblr is fairly anonymous and i don't think my life would be ruined if someone found my real life identity and accused me of being problematic. i'd be alright. also i think there is some measure of difference between being loud about this on this rinkydink website and being loud about it on twitter where there is an actual possibility of felix or changbin seeing it and being uncomfortable with it in case i'm wrong and they are just close friends. if they expressed discomfort with it i wouldn't be doing it, but since from how i perceive it they don't mind the shipping at all, i think i'm fine indulging in theories or expressing what i'm observing in this clandestine social media community.

and i completely agree with your point that it's kind of bizarre when people insist that all shipping has to be only for fun with a million disclaimers that it's obviously not real and of course they're 100% heterosexual and getting pussy left and right. i see people doing that a lot and i'm not saying it always comes from a place of homophobia (although it sure does in some cases), i think it's people overcorrecting themselves. i think they're afraid of being delusional or "fetishizing" (that term is a whole different conversation) or that what they're doing is harmful. but they still can't help intuitively shipping idols/celebrities and so act like it's all just a big joke to them and of course, there's no way it's actually real. they think they're being self-aware and realistic.

but like you said, queer people are real and i think it would be ludicrous to assume that there are no queer people in the idol industry. an industry btw that i think would be especially attractive to queer people in the same way that all creative and performing arts are, like musical theater, the fashion industry and such. i think it's pretty likely that there's a higher percentage of queer people in the idol world than in the general public. and they LIVE TOGETHER for god's sake. they're a bunch of insanely attractive people who live together and aren't allowed to date, of course stuff will happen between group members. if i was in a girl group there's no way i wouldn't be banging one of my co-workers lmao.

now this was a lot of introspection about the shipping discourse in kpop when your actual question was when i think changlix started dating. and i gotta say, i'm not sure i can give you a great answer to that. i haven't been here from debut, i've only been a stay for about a year or a few months more than that. so i didn't see the actual progression of their relationship, i try to watch as much of their back catalogue as i can but there's just so. much. content. i tried systematically watching everything but i'm still not past 2018 in terms of their old vlive content.

like you, i think that they're together now and have been for all of 2021, and that they definitely weren't together back at the end of 2018. between that there is about a two year window in which a lot of stuff could have happened. i think there has probably been something (maybe unspoken) between them ever since they met, like sexual/romantic tension, but i agree that changbin probably needed time to come to terms with it, while felix was ready to go from day one. i imagine that must have caused some emotional turbulences. i don't even think there necessarily has to be a definitive point at which they got together. maybe there is, but maybe there was a back and forth or they just kinda grew into it. i'd say it's not unlikely that the point at which they decided okay we're officially in a relationship and we're not making a big secret out of it happened some time in 2020. since, like i said, 좋으니까 felt like a coming out to me and that happened early 2021.

hhh. i know that's not a satisfying answer but that's all i can give you timelinewise. but i'd be really interested to know if you have any thoughts on this question? is there something you observed that makes you feel like things shifted between them? i'd love to know your thoughts.
