Well, the thing is that people adhere to a theory and ignore any evidence that may contradict their theory. They think that just because Z is taller than Tom, she is the "man" of the relationship, a very old-fashioned term. So they heavily comment on pics of her having her arm around him, but not those of him having his arm around her, or caressing her, or grabbing her from behind. It's just a stereotype of taller women being "more masculine". We even have now "trans detectives" claiming that all tall women in the industry are trans. So yeah, I'm not just giving a pass to people spouting this bs. I'm not claiming that Z is a full submissive like some tumblr tomdayas like to claim, but I dislike the complete erasure of all evidence showing Tom taking the initiative and becoming highly protective of Z
sorry for responding to this late, my friend. anyway, what you're describing here is also part of the larger perceived gender role discourse and I agree it is icky. but let's not get sidetracked. this topic started because of the "babygirl" comments on that tweet. and I feel that you are grossly misconstruing what babygirlism actually is 😔
for you to be convinced that it's not the most problematic label for Tom to be called, you first need to understand the nuances of current internet slang, specifically stan talk.
you see, "babygirl" today is used for both male and female personalities and/or fictional characters. when people call someone a babygirl, it means they find that person cute/adorable/attractive and they feel great affection and protectiveness for them. Beyonce has been called a babygirl. Pedro Pascal is a babygirl. Wanda Maximoff is a babygirl. Kendall Roy from Succession and Roy Kent from Ted Lasso are both babygirls. kpop idols no matter the gender are all babygirls. literally anyone can be a babygirl.
it is a term of endearment for someone you'd go feral for, it's not that deep at all 😭

you ever think about how donna noble was so influential in the doctor’s lives that a lifetime later he regenerated with the face of a man she begged him to save. because at that moment, both in pompeii and when he regenerated, the doctor needed a reminder that it’s always worth trying to save someone
and then do you start crying? i do

listen i think we should bring back some of the like 2012-2015 era pjo memes and trends so the show folks can get a taste of what the fandom was like back then.
Persassy, "fish jesus," Soldatino, some of the popular ships from then just for fun (remember when Travis Stoll x Katie Gardner was a thing? the extremely brief period of time when people shipped Jason x Butch Walker because Butch is described with "a face like a pile of bricks" so it was a convoluted Brason joke?). i hear people are calling show percabeth "smartwater" so that's coming back already, that's fun. there's potential here.

How the atla fandom thinks the zk fandom is:
How (the majority of) the zk fandom actually is:
A¤ng is a fictional cartoon character guys, and in fiction, being annoying is a greater crime than murder and being interesting/entertaining is a greater virtue than saving the world. Our problem isn't with a fictional thirteen year old, it's with the professional, adult writers who made some very irritating character choices.
