⇢ SERIES MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
The sequence of events that landed you in this situation; having a teary, heaving breakdown in front of your bathroom mirror, was absolutely ridiculous, to say the least.
Tumblr media
“I’m gonna kill someone,” you squeak, breathless from the endless stream of sneezes ripping through you. The glow of the alarm clock on your nightstand reads 1 a.m. as you reach for a tissue. Violently blowing your nose does little to ease its congestion. With a shaky sigh, you crumple the sodden napkin and toss it into the bin beside your bed; overthrown by contents alike. The wet ball hits the paper mountain before rolling onto your pretty pink area rug.
You shiver, how fucking disgusting.
A stressful week of labs and quizzes has tanked your immune system, making you susceptible to all the little germs and illnesses that strike when the brisk winter air transitions into the pollen-laced breeze of spring. The antibiotics you were prescribed did little to help your runny nose and sore throat. Pausing the anime playing on your phone, you open your messages.
dumbo love you, get some rest please xx
So much for getting rest. You weren’t expecting a text back. Jungkook had offered to spend the night, but you encouraged him to go. It was his last semester after all. Still, you were pouty and needy, wanting nothing more than to snuggle into his arms and let the swirls of his delicate fingers on your back lull you to sleep. Instead, here you were, confined to your bed, watching Naruto solo as Jungkook, Tae, and Mina lived it up; taking shots until they were belligerent.
A distinguishable knock rattles the door before you can press play again.
“What are you doing here?”
Jungkook stands in your doorway, oversized black tee hanging over his equally oversized green cargo pants. His cute little mullet falls in sweaty loops around his face. “Still feelin’ like shit?” He coos, cringing at your disheveled appearance and the croak in your voice. Ignoring your question, he holds up the various items in his big hands. “I picked up a few things; cough drops—not the cherry kind ‘cause those are fucking nasty,” you laugh at the side note, “—extra spicy ramen and hot sauce to clear out your sinuses.”
Your peer at the array of remedies with wide eyes. Their ability to cure your flu symptoms is questionable. You don’t even have a way of boiling water to make said ramen in your cramped dorm, but the sentiment has your chest swelling with something other than a violent cough for the first time in days. Abruptly, you pull him into a tight embrace.
“Ah, I see,” he laughs, wrapping an arm around the small of your back and walking you back into the room, kicking the door closed behind him. “My Bambi missed me.”
“I did,” you nuzzle into him further, “but you shouldn’t be here… you should be having fun with your friends.”
“Nah, fuck ‘em,” he retorts playfully, putting the quote-unquote medicine down and then plopping onto the bed, taking you with him. “Besides, what kind of shit boyfriend ditches their sick girlfriend to go to a party anyways?”
“The kind that should be enjoying his last semester,” you frown.
“I am, though. I enjoy spending time with you more than anything else.”
As he lays under you, black tresses splayed against your white comforter like a misshapen halo, you feel so incredibly lucky. Gently, you run your fingers through his choppy bangs, pushing them out of his doe eyes. “Have you been drinking?”
“Not really, just a couple shots of Fireball and a few beers.” That much alcohol would have knocked you on your lightweight ass, but after years of beer pong and keg stands, Jungkook’s tolerance was damn near Kage level. It took a lot more than that to get him drunk. “I kinda…” he averts your gaze, something he does when he’s sad or guilty. “I felt really bad so I left.”
“Jungkook, I told you it was okay.”
“I know,” he nods, sliding a warm palm under your shirt, rubbing his thumb against your skin in soothing lines. “But I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Using your fingertip, you brush an eyelash off the apple of his cheek. “Thank you… for coming back for me.”
“Of course, Bambi.” He leans up and presses a deep kiss to your dehydrated lips.
“Kook, stop,” you mumble, craning your neck back. “You’re gonna get sick.”
“I don’t care.”
It doesn’t take much convincing. If Jungkook doesn’t care, why should you?
What follows is a battle of warm tongues and the needy clash of his bunny teeth against yours. Tender touches coax your Sailor Moon pajama set to the floor with the promise of Jungkook’s delicious love. Before you know it, you’re sinking down onto his hard length, fingers digging into his shoulders as he slouches against your headboard.
“Take it all,” he whispers, jaw slacking as he tilts his head down, getting a clear view of your wet cunt swallowing the remaining few inches. A slick film coats the two fingers he used to hold himself up for you as your lip pillow around the base. “Yeah, just like that.” His face contorts in pleasure, overcome by your warm, slippery walls after a week of illness-induced celibacy. “Feels good, huh baby? Tell me how good my dick makes you feel.”
He wants praise and dirty talk, but the tickle in your nose makes you pause, bracing yourself as a slew of sneezes pours out of you. Eight sneezes to be exact. Jungkook’s high-pitched cackle is drowned out by a shriek as you cup your hand over your leaking nostrils. “EW!”
“Shut up, it’s fine!” He grabs a tissue from the nearly empty box. “Lemme see,” he mumbles, pulling your hand down and wiping it clean, then doing the same to your face afterward and tossing the kleenex in your glittery pink trash bin.
“I’m sorry,” you peep, completely mortified.
“Don’t worry.” The crooked bunny grin eases your nerves. “That was fire, actually. You clenched around me so tight.”
You squint at him and then bury your head into the crook of his neck. You make love to each other; slow and gentle. At one point, Jungkook locks his tattooed fingers in between yours, pecking your bare shoulder as lazy drags of your hips bring you both to writhing climaxes. And he looks so beautiful when he climaxes, gnawing at his lip piercing, skin dewy from sweat and the moonlight shining through the blinds.
At that moment, you felt nothing but love and pure ecstasy.
Tumblr media
Isn’t it funny how pleasures of the past can create complete devastation in the present?
Clutching the edge of the porcelain sink, you stare down at the pink box of pregnancy tests. There’s tear stains on your cheeks. A pain in your lungs from all the sobbing. You wish Jungkook had been a shit boyfriend that night. You’d give anything to take it all back.
Like a sixth sense, there’s a distinguishable knock at the door.
“Hey, I-” he stops short, brows furrowing as his dark pupils scan your face. “Have you been crying?”
“What do you think?” You shouldn’t snap at him, but the waves of anxiety washing over you make you highly sensitive. Truthfully, you weren’t going to tell Jungkook any of this. His showing up had put an awful wrench in your plans. Well, unless the test came back positive. Then, you’d be forced to tell him. You clamp your hand over your mouth, the thought making you sick to your stomach.
“__, take a deep breath. Sit down.” You do and he follows suit. “What's going on?”
“I-” you gulp, swallowing back a whine, struggling to form a coherent sentence. There’s no escape, you have to confess. “I think I might be pregnant.”
There’s an eerie silence once the words hit the air, lingering over you both like a dark, dreary cloud. It takes Jungkook a moment to internalize the weight of the situation, but you can tell when the thunder strikes. The pink tinge in his cheeks fades to a stark, sickly white as he inhales shakily. “Fuck-” Leaning his elbows against his knees, he digs the heels of his palms into his eyes, shielding them. “I thought you were on the pill.”
“I am, but I was taking antibiotics last week and I read that they can make birth control less effective- and I’ve been having symptoms lately.” It all comes out in a jumbled mess like word vomit. He doesn’t respond. He doesn’t move. And it scares you. “Are you mad at me?”
“No.” Despite his posture, his tone is still and calm. “I just… don’t know what to say. It’s a lot to take in.”
“I’m sorry,” you whisper as the floodgates finally burst. You were still in the swell of your STEM program. Jungkook is just about to graduate with a Bachelor’s in photography. Both of your lives would come to a screeching halt if the worst were true. You weren’t ready for a baby, not in the slightest. “I’m so sorry.”
“Hey, hey, don’t-.” Finally, Jungkook sits up, wrapping a strong arm around your shoulder and pulling you into his side. The other arm repeats as he rests his chin on top of your head, rocking your shaking frame back and forth for comfort. “Don’t apologize, don’t cry. Why don’t you take a test before we start freaking the fuck out?”
You suppose he’s right.
The walk to the bathroom is a blur. Suddenly, you’re on the toilet with that evil stick in hand. Jungkook is sitting on the floor with his eyes closed, knees bent and head leaned back against the wood of the cabinet. Normally, you’re extremely pee-shy. It literally will not come out. Under these circumstances, you can’t bring yourself to care.
“You pee so softly,” Jungkook says through an airy laugh. “I pee really hard- and fast. Like-” he makes a little whooshing noise with his mouth, “like a hose.”
“Baby, please,” you huff, setting the test aside and pulling your sweats up. You know he’s trying to ease your nerves, but this is one situation where his lighthearted jokes and comments ceased to make you smile. “This is serious.”
“Trust me, I know.” Spreading his legs, he pats the carpet between them. “C’mere.” As soon as you hit the ground he’s embracing you, trailing kisses all over your exposed skin. “What now?”
“Now,” you sigh, setting a timer on your phone for three minutes, “we wait.”
“You know… it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if it’s positive.”
“It would be absolutely awful, Jungkook.” It’s a sweet sentiment but you know he’s lying, right through his bunny teeth. Late-night conversations in bed about the future ring in your head. ‘Honestly, I don’t think I want kids,’ Jungkook had hummed in the middle of My Neighbor Totoro, ‘ever.’ Generally, you felt the same way, but the memory is terrifying in this context; sitting on the bathroom floor with him, waiting for an answer that could contradict all of your plans and possibly crumble the entire foundation of your relationship.
“Who am I kidding?” He chuckles humorlessly. “You’re right, it would be fucking awful.”
Nervously, you toy with the silver rings on his inked fingers. “What if it’s positive, Jungkook?”
“Let’s just wait until we get the results.”
“But what if it’s positive?” You twist in his arms, showing him your glassy eyes and deep frown. Showing him that his answer, regardless of what the test says, was very important to you.
He blinks at you, lips opening and then closing promptly as he mulls over his words. “If it is… then we’ll take care of it.”
There’s a dual meaning to the sentiment that makes you chew on your bottom lip, eyes flickering up to the white ceiling to stop yourself from crying. Take care of it as in going through with it? Or take care of it as in… the other option? Honestly, the latter would be your first choice, and you’re sure it’s his as well. But for whatever reason, the fact that he assumed it makes your heart ache. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means whatever you want it to mean.” Gently, he smooths a hand over your trembling thighs before they frantically search for yours. “Just… whatever you want to do… whatever you want, I’ll support it… I’m here.”
A breath you hadn’t realized you were holding in releases in relief. You feel stupid for even questioning him. After all these months of unconditional love, you should know better. Bringing your locked hands up, you kiss his fingertips. The smile it brings out of him is just as soft as your touch. “I love you so much.”
“I love y-.”
He’s cut off by the blaring ring of your timer.
“Please, can you look?” You mumble, shaking your head and covering your eyes. “I can’t do it.”
You feel his torso twist against your back as he reaches for the test on your countertop. The time between him grabbing it and the dreaded answer feels like an eternity.
“Negative.”
“Thank fuck!” You groan, doing a complete 180 and wrapping your arms around his neck in celebration. You haven’t felt this type of excitement since you were a child, waking up on Christmas morning and seeing colorful presents under the tree.
“What made you think you were pregnant in the first place?”
You hesitate to respond. In retrospect, it’s not as valid of a reason as you originally thought. “I’ve been feeling sick in the morning.”
Pulling back, Jungkook deadpans you. “Bambi, no shit. You’ve been sick all week.”
“I know but,” you pout, twirling a ringlet at the nape of his neck, “google said I could be pregnant…”
“You’re so fucking lucky you’re cute,” he laughs, holding you flush to him and nipping your cheek playfully. “You’ve got to be the most dramatic person I’ve ever met in my life.” You know he’s joking, but the comment makes your expression drop a bit. “But that’s part of the reason I love you so much. I’m never bored with you.”
Once again, you truly don’t know how you got so lucky.
“Alright,” he huffs, using all of his strength to haul you up into the air and walk you back to your bedroom. Instinctually and habitually, you wrap your legs around his cinched waist. “We finished Avatar last time, so what’re we watching tonight?”
You click your tongue in contemplation. “Naruto.”
“Naruto? Bambi, isn’t Naruto like- a billion episodes long?”
When he tosses you down onto the mattress, you pout and bat your long lashes at him, pulling out all the provenly successful manipulation tactics. “Please?”
“Fine,” he grumbles, plopping down beside you. “But don’t be mad if I knock out.”
And like clockwork, Jungkook dozes off in the middle of the second episode, but that’s okay, because despite how horrible the pregnancy scare was, it truly solidified Jungkook’s presence in your life. You have all the time in the world to watch hours and hours of subpar filler episodes, and you’ll do it happily as long as you’re with him.

Hello there! This question isn’t so much about popularity as it is about feeling lonely in fandom spaces. I’m in a relatively small fandom where it’s easy to “run into” the same users who write fanfic and draw fanart a lot. Over the years I’ve tried doing all the usual things to make fandom friends, like commenting a LOT on fanfic when new works are posted, being friendly in my author’s notes, being friendly on tumblr, complimenting artists works and reblogging and just generally trying to share the love so to speak.
People will reblog my art on here, but on AO3 I tend to get crickets on most of my stuff. Especially on fics for my OTP. My OTP is notttt popular in the fandom. It’s actually a lot of people’s NOTP because it “takes away” from the canon couple. I’ve accepted a long time ago that I’m going to get less readers because of the shipping stuff alone. But even on my works that aren’t shipping focused at all, it’s just crickets.
It just kinda sucks to try so hard to make fandom buddies and see them all having fun together and constantly feel like the kid sitting alone in the corner. I keep wondering if people in the fandom don’t like my fics just because of the shipping thing because I know I’m not a bad writer. But like I said, I’ve tried reaching out to people, be encouraging and show joy at what they create, but I just keep wondering what I’m doing wrong to make fellow fans not want to be friends with me. I’ve been focusing on just doing my own thing but yeah, it sucks not having anybody to fangirl with.
First of all anon, *hugs*. Being lonely sucks, and I'm sorry to hear you're in that situation.
When it comes to the other folks in your fandom, I don't think it's necessarily that they don't want to be friends with you. I think you might just need to do a little extra legwork to get in the friendship door.
It's not really fair, but it is kind of human nature, that if there is a perceived difference with someone else, we tend to keep them at a bit of a distance. It doesn't mean we dislike them! It just means that it takes more effort for us to get past that difference and see them as a friend. The more we do it, of course, the easier it gets and you might not even notice the hiccup anymore - in person.
You're probably in the "acquaintance zone," if you'll allow me to use the phrase. People probably have a generally positive impression of you because you're nice and you're friendly and you're encouraging. But if most of their conversations are happening in a ship-centric venue, for example, then you're not going to have access to the full spectrum of community with them.
You mention that other folks see your OTP as a NOTP. Do you feel the same way in reverse? They might assume that you do, and that's what's keeping you out of those convos. If you actually don't mind their ship and simply prefer your own, you could always attempt to make a foray in that direction? Let them know you don't mind being exposed to their shipping talk?
Another thing you could try would be to identify the multishippers. In my experience, those are the folks who are most open to befriending folks who don't ship the main pairing. They can see possibilities all over the place, and they're happy to be exposed to new ideas.
Small fandoms can be rough when you're into a niche part of it ❤️ Let's see how others handle your situation.
You can also find this question and answer on Dreamwidth.

Do you have any more Ghostflower/Gwiles headcanons 👀👀 ?
Hehe, I haven't done more of those for awhile haven't I? Okay, let's see.
Miles actually, ended up doing a painting of Gwen for his Studio Art classes; he has done so many drawings of her that it came almost naturally for him, and his teacher found the painting so beautiful the teacher begged him to let be on display on the academy. Gwen eventually saw the paint, to Miles embarrassment, she just said she thought it was cute. In reality she felt her heart melt at seeing the portrait of her in warm colours, sunflowers, and with a smile and a glow so beautiful she was in awe at the knowledge that yeah, this is how Miles sees her.
Gwen actually started taking classes in Spanish after she came back to her dimension in the first movie; I dig that headcanon I had seen around that she likes languages in general, but she got a tad curious after meeting Miles. She works extra hard after the fiasco that was meeting Rio and Jeff; she actually ends up having a better pronunciation than Jeff to the amusement of Miles' parents. (Jeff learned Spanish for Rio, no idea if this is canon or not but it is for me.)
Miles and Gwen at some point develop a tradition of trying stuff from their own dimensions; all started with Miles being curious about the difference between his Kola-soda and her Bepsi. After awhile, both Gwen and Miles made an habit to keep handy the snacks the other likes from their respective dimensions (Chocolate covered pop rocks for Gwen, plantain chips seasoned with pimenton de la vera for Miles.) They didn't even coordinate for it to happen, they just caught on the fact once after a difficult mission, Miles offered the chocolate and she the chips.
Miles can dance, if only enough to not make a fool of himself in the parties (Rio's idea, not son of hers was going to be moving uncomfortable while Chayanne is playing on the dance floor.) Gwen will deny it until she is blue in the face, but her brain became mush while Miles was showing her to dance salsa. (Sidenote, I think Gwen is better dancing alone, while Miles knows how to move better in a couple's dance.)
Remember in ATSV when they are swinging around New York? They do that a lot, in both of their dimensions; they like to chase each other and try daredevil tricks while laughing as the world around them doesn't exist. It has gotten into a point that there video compilations of them doing this, a lot of with the title of "Spidey dance" or "Spiders in love" because even a bystander doing a video can see the way they go after each other has mean to something else. Gwen's dad is the one who brought her attention to one of these videos, one of the most embarrassing moments in her life.
These are a few! Hmm, maybe I should try one of those OTP memes or something, I bet it would be fun with them.
Hope you like these!

So... what do you think of a concept of Jack's Sunshine who is a Magical Girl?
This ask instantly gave me the image of Alice as a magical girl and OMG the potential of that is delicious. Thank you for sharing this plot bunny with me so I can totally run away with it!
The timing is also fitting since I recently watched the Miraculous Ladybug’s latest season ending and special and, uh… I’ve had… thoughts. (Yes, Miraculous Ladybug counts as a magical girl show.)
Before I begin, I want to plug the SnaccPop Studios patreon since it’s almost certain that I’m going to wind up using the magical girl Jack picture Sauce drew at some point in this ramble, and possibly other SDJ art. Please support the team if you can, and remember don't share anything privately posted on the patreon!
I also want to toss out potential content warnings just in case. This post will contain mention of PTSD, child soldiers, body image issues, cheating, toxic relationships, and the general erotic/horror elements that are part of the Something’s Wrong with Sunny Day Jack package. I’m not sure where I’m going to take this, but chances are there’s going to be some spice involving my OTP and some mention of Jack’s yandere obsession and the extremes he’ll go to keep his sunshine.
Remember, this is an 18+ Adults Only fandom! Minors do not interact!
 The “Magic” of Childhood
The magical girl genre is iconic, and it’s also been deconstructed in different ways with certain anime like Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Given Something’s Wrong with Sunny Day Jack is, in a way, deconstructing lost media and clown mascots into an eroge horror game, it feels fitting to go with that sort of spirit with this sort of crossover as well.
In this case, sunshine would have probably been someone who was a magical “girl” in their childhood/teen years, as that is usually the age range of magical girls doing their magical shenanigans while they learn life lessons and mature. Whether or not MC was actually a girl during this time period is, of course, up to the individual to decide for their backstory. After all, who cares if the magical girls in the story are actually girls? There are an increasing number of stories about magical boys in this genre, for example, and we all know non-binary folks can go anywhere they darn well please.
Given the tone of the game and MC’s state, I think it would be perfectly fitting if they are still a disillusioned adult who wants to abandon all things nostalgic. In this case, their past magical shenanigans would be included in the childish things that they want to forget. Heck, it’s more reason to want to forget if they felt like their childhood was taken from them because they had to fight monsters in secret all the time in flashy clothes and transformation sequences, even having to go as far as to save the world from utter destruction.
Then of course add in the complication that Ian and his cheating presents on MC’s mental state. Magical girl shows very often have romance as one of the key aspects of the story, the star-crossed lovers of the lead magical girl hopelessly pining over the prince charming of her dreams~ Only, in this case, “Prince Charming” betrayed their “destined romance” by getting horny and sleeping with someone else. Bonus points if these two were reincarnated destined lovers or the like, ala Usagi and Mamoru from Sailor Moon. I mean, wouldn’t that be a kick in the teeth!
In this sort of AU, the romance with Ian and the magical “girl” adventures MC experienced would be heavily tied to their childhood and teenage years. In a sense, they both represent the MC’s youth, for good and for ill. In the present day, MC is dealing with the aftermath of the love of their life cheating on them, being isolated and alone, and carrying the baggage of their fight to save the world, which robbed them of their childhood. They’re probably extra exhausted if they still have to occasionally transform and fight monsters even in the present day. They have to juggle adult responsibilities on top of the fate of a world, working a thankless job that doesn’t pay enough with a duty that pays nothing at all. They’d probably be even more of a penny pincher in this AU.
Jack entering into the picture would be a very interesting wrinkle to their life. Given MC has faced a lot of supernatural and magical shenanigans, I imagine they’d be more inclined to believe that, yes, this clown that suddenly appeared one day and insists on being their best friend is real. Now they have another magical mascot in their life, only this one isn’t some cute little talking animal. I mean, heck, they might even be more inclined to just roll with it after having to live with a magical mascot bossing them around for years.
Not that I imagine MC would necessarily let Jack in on their secret identity, especially if they’re trying to leave the magical girl business in the past.
I can imagine Jack would be stunned to learn of MC’s secret double life, especially if he saw them during their flashy magical transformation sequence. Magical girl anime wasn’t really a thing in the US in the early 80’s, so Jack isn’t going to be familiar with the tropes, even if there were some in-universe TV shows about it. (I mean, in Sailor Moon, the Sailor V show was a thing, so even in the magical girl universe there were magical girl shows, so…)
Of course, I have a feeling that most MCs wouldn’t be interested in watching any TV shows based on the fictional or real life exploits of magical girls after growing up living that life. It’d probably be a bit too real for them.
Man, wouldn’t it be awkward if during MC’s teen years, when in the thick of living the life as secret protector of the world, they had a best friend who was absolutely obsessed with the magical girl genre? They have to deal with all the drama of being a magical “girl” and listen to people ramble about it even when off the clock. I can see Ian totally being all over magical girl anime, especially when there are real life examples  around.
This gives me the image of MC, sitting in their childhood bedroom with Ian, having to play dumb and smile innocently while Ian gushes about being saved from a monster by a magical “girl” without ever knowing that the person he’s talking about is sitting right next to him. Talk about awkward!
Though it would also be a potential moment for romance. Ian talks up his savior and gushes over how cool they were, and MC gets to feel butterflies at hearing themselves praised so much… even if Ian thinks he’s talking about a different person.
A pity Ian had to taint those sweet memories by cheating, huh?
Back to the present with Jack. Once he finds out his sunshine is going out there battling monsters, saving the world… well, there’s definitely going to be mixed feelings. On the one hand, that’s amazing! It does go to show just how special his sunshine really is. On the other hand, MC is risking their life and possibly getting injured on a regular basis because of this duty of theirs. That’s not even adding in the more unsettling magical girl deconstructions and how that power might come at a cost…
Jack, in general, wants to try and make things easier for MC, and make sure that he is needed by them. Any sort of occupation or secret life they have makes no difference on this fact. However, I think he would want to make sure to reveal that he knows their secret only when the time is right, when he’s sure it’s not going to chase them away from him
So chances are Jack would nudge MC in the direction of wanting to tell him. He’ll show them that they can trust him with any secret, help them with any problem, especially if it’s important to them. He’ll take care of them, no matter what they want to do. He’s there for them… forever.
Until MC lets Jack in on their secret, he could secretly help them. Maybe he can hunt down evil doers and scare those nasty monsters away, maybe even convince the villains to stop creating monsters that put his sunshine at risk. It’s not exactly in character for Sunny Day Jack to want to hurt anyone, but he’s stopping the bad guys! For his sunshine! So they don’t get hurt! The bad guys too dangerous to be allowed to run around hurting people and trying to take away his sunshine by killing or capturing them…
Any sort of magical mascot MC has might wind up interfering with Jack and his plans, or maybe they too will be suckered in by his silver tongue and sweet words. It all depends, really. I imagine with their power, they would be able to see and hear him like MC has, which adds a whole extra dynamic to the relationship.
Hell, Jack could potentially convince the mascot to give him magical powers too, ala this gorgeous piece of art drawn by Sauce.
Tumblr media
Look at Jack, all sparkly and magical, with such beautiful colors and design. He’s going to fight for love and his sunshine and triumph over anyone who would dare try to take his sunshine away.
If Jack becomes a magical “girl” too, well, then his sunshine can for sure share their secret with him without worry! It’ll be just the two of them protecting each other and the world. He’ll keep MC safe for sure with his new powers.
And make sure no one takes his sunshine away, even if that means making his magical clothes a little less colorful and a lot more bloody.
Tumblr media
Gotta love how Sauce can create such delicious tonal whiplash with their lovely art. Jack makes for a chilling yandere magical girl, don't you think?
Like any good protagonist with magical girl powers, Jack would make sure to protect his sunshine, and even without powers he would want to keep them safe. It doesn’t matter if they have a secret double life. They can share all their burdens with him. No one has to know about their secret identity except for him. It just means their bond is even more special than it already was.
Of course… if MC is keeping Jack at a distance, or interested in someone else, that would create extra conflict. MC would likely be more aware that Jack is an unknown entity and be more wary of him even as they accept his existence and presence in their life as something real. If they choose someone else to pursue romantically, well… that’s a problem for Jack regardless of the universe.
If Jack does manage to get himself some magical girl powers, he might have a whole new arsenal of tools to get rid of his rivals in a magical and flashy way. Heck, if he learns how the bad guys transform people into monsters, he might have a way to get rid of them in a way that is seen as virtuous. There’s all sorts of twisted paths that could be taken with this sort of AU, especially when giving a yandere even more power.
Really, a lot of this depends on the details about the MC’s powers, the mascot they have, what they’re fighting, and if they’re still fighting even as an adult. With that thought in mind, let’s get a little more specific in the way I would personally tackle the idea of Alice being a magical girl.
Magical Girl Alice
The idea of Alice as a magical girl tickles me greatly, especially given the fact that magical girls are always super skinny. I mean, there’s a running joke about the Sailor Moon art style and how long and skinny their legs are. Magical girls don’t tend to appear in plus size unless it’s as the punchline of a joke. It adds a lot of possibilities, and the potential to tackle public perception to the cute stereotypical magical girl archetype.
Needless to say, someone like Alice would have a difficult time as a magical girl for many reasons. She already had a hard enough time being responsible as the oldest child of the King family and taking care of Ian without adding in her duties as a magical warrior for justice.
I can imagine it happening suddenly one day in the typical way these stories usually start, when an entity appeared in the form of a cute rabbit - Honey Bunny.
Yes, I had to use Honey Bunny for the role of magical girl mascot. I mean, who else would fit that role as Alice’s adorable non-human sidekick? In this case, it was a magical entity that took over her puppet and has a similar personality to her SunnyTime Town counterpart. In a way, Alice's issues with speaking were a blessing, as no one looked twice at Alice conversing with her “puppet.” In fact, people were amazed that she had developed some really impressive ventriloquist skills!
Alice has always gone out of her way to help people, just this took that desire to an extreme. As a kid, she was excited to become a hero for justice, and with magical powers to boot. It was so cool to transform into an identity that no one recognized, beating down the wicked monsters and saving innocent people.
Well… in theory. Naturally, the first time Alice actually had to face down a monster born from someone’s negative emotions, it was a lot harder than she thought. The whole magical girl gig was harder than advertised, but Honey Bunny helped her get through it. Besides, she needed to do it. No one else could, and if no one stepped up, the world would be lost.
Alice would have shared her secret with her family, but Honey Bunny always stressed the importance of keeping things a secret. No one must know - not her family and not her best friend Ian, even if he’s crushing on the mysterious magical girl who saved him from the wicked monster his mother had been transformed into one day. If they knew, then the bad guys could find out the truth from exploiting their loved ones’ negative emotions. If that happened then she and everyone she knew was in danger, and the world could be doomed.
Quite a lot of pressure on a kid, don’t you think?
Alice had to learn how to be independent, a lone warrior of justice, taking down bad guys. Sometimes she managed to get help, but it didn’t last forever. Perhaps she did eventually get a superhero team in her teens, which would’ve been a breath of fresh air. She had someone to lean on who understood this destiny that they were burdened with.
It did create this sort of divide between Alice and anyone not part of this magical girl group. This secret and weight on all of them was so big, too heavy. Others couldn’t understand… for the sake of the world.
I was going to say this caused a divide between Alice and Ian, but then I thought of Ian in his bunny costume and, well… Ian would make a cute magical girl, don’t you think?
If Ian was in on this secret double life, it would add more reason for them to cling to each other, especially if it was only the two of them without anyone else to depend on. It’d be like Ladybug and Chat Noir against the world, a whirlwind romance for the ages…
Well… until Ian let it go to his head so that he could get some head.
In typical magical girl story fashion, it took a while before Alice and Ian managed to get in a relationship. There were plenty of near-misses and misunderstandings due to the double life Alice led until Ian joined it. So many outings together had to be canceled at the last minute or interrupted because Alice had to sneak away to save people.
It was the end of high school when Ian got his powers too in a dramatic incident where the world and Alice’s life were hanging in the balance. This is one of those season finale climax moments where everything is on the line and they came a hair’s breadth from everything going horribly, horribly wrong.
Naturally, this made Ian and Alice’s bond, which had been waning due to her double-life, suddenly a whole lot stronger. Trauma bonding is pretty high for young people who need to cling to each other to survive after all…
Alice used her experience to help Ian get used to his role, though he had a much harder time juggling his double life. His mom was a big problem, constantly wanting to know where he was and what he was doing. In the end, he had to give back the powers Honey Bunny gave him because he didn’t see himself as worthy of them anymore. He also just couldn’t handle the pressure, not like Alice could.
Still, the two of them were close because Ian knew Alice’s secret and could help her make excuses to sneak off to save people.
The college era changed everything. The big bad Alice had been fighting for years was finally defeated at long last. She had thematically graduated from being a magical girl. She could finally live a normal life and figure out a dream of her own beyond saving the world.
But… Alice didn’t know what to do. Sure she thought about her future beyond being a magical girl off and on, but fighting to save the world and juggling her personal life with these secrets and lies took up so much of her mental energy. She was exhausted and wound up bouncing around in college.
In typical magical girl story fashion, the protagonist got together with her love interest in the end. Alice and Ian were a couple, so close and in love. With Alice not knowing what to do with this future that was open to infinite possibilities, she let Ian take the lead in guiding their futures, trying to get into acting alongside him.
Of course, much like in the normal universe, Alice got pushback. Though she’s a magical warrior for justice, she’s still chubby. Her physical abilities are better than the average person even in civilian mode, but bodies have a tendency to want to be a particular shape, and for her, that’s bigger than society wants her to be.
Much like in Miraculous Ladybug, Alice has some influence on how she appears when transformed. Will and subconscious desire strongly affect it, as well as creating that special aura that makes people unable to identify the magical girl with the pigtails as the same person as the girl with the same pigtails and hair color who was standing there only a couple minutes before. When Alice first started out, she was more or less herself, but fluffier, more colorful, covered in frills and glitter. She had the young magical girl flare and charm, just plus sized.
Unfortunately, as Alice’s body image issues manifested, getting mocked both by her peers and even enemies, she started subconsciously wanting to be smaller. She saw her ideal self as those skinny magical girls on TV, and it reflected in her transformed mode. It wasn’t an instant change, more like a gradual transition as though the creators behind the series got worried about having a plus sized magical girl and made her gradually slimmer until she looked more “on model” for the genre.
By the time Alice was a teenager, her transformed mode was the typical skimpy, but curvy, magical girl archetype. She didn’t look anything like herself, and there was no chance of mistaking the two of them for the same person. She wanted to look this way in reality, so when she had free time she worked out more and ate less. It was very unhealthy, and Honey Bunny had to work hard to keep her from developing an eating disorder. If Alice wouldn’t take care of herself for her own sake, then she had to do it to have the power to save the world.
The relationship between Honey Bunny and Alice is a deep friendship, but it’s a bit complicated. After all, it was Honey Bunny who guided a child to take on the responsibility of protecting the world. Regardless if there was no other option, it’s still not a burden that should be placed on any one person, let alone a child.
Needless to say, Alice has a lot of baggage from her time as a magical girl and some trauma bonding with Honey Bunny as well. When she finally had a normal life, she had come to accept that she could be loved as she was, not as [insert magical girl superhero name here]. I’m not sure what name I’m going to go with for Alice, but it might be a parody of Sailor Moon’s naming convention or some other magical girl anime’s naming style. I mean, I could call her Sailor Sunshine, but that’s a bit too on the nose. ;3 I’ll have to give it some thought…
What didn’t help Alice’s self-confidence and body image issues was Ian having a crush on her transformed self and gushing about her all the time. Although Ian did have a crush on Alice as well, he couldn’t help but geek out over a real life magical girl, and more than once Alice was made to feel jealous of the persona she crafted that always seemed so much better than herself.
When Ian eventually found out her identity, he was stunned, especially due to how different they looked, but at the same time it made sense to him. He insisted that she was the same person, with or without the flashy costume, and she was just as beautiful either way.
So in the “final season” of this magical girl show, Alice’s transformed self looked a bit chubbier than before - not as full figured as her normal self, but no longer a skinny twig. She better accepted herself a bit more, and she felt loved by Ian both in her transformed state and out. By that point she had grown and become happier with herself.
Which made Ian cheating on her later on with a sexy woman with big boobs and a small waist feel like a huge kick in the crotch.
Alice entered college with Ian full of hope, even if she felt lost for a future outside of being a magical girl. She had a partner who loved her and understood her, and she had the rest of her life to choose whatever she wanted in the world she saved.
It’s just unfortunate that all of the constant battles and running off to fight tanked her grades during high school, which made it harder for her to get into college in the first place. At least Alice could get into community college, even if that meant there was no hope of a scholarship. At least she had Ian by her side.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Though Alice had become a strong warrior for justice, she now suffered from PTSD and had traumatic flashbacks of moments that scarred her deeply, especially when it came to people she couldn’t save. She couldn’t exactly talk about it with anyone, and Ian couldn’t handle the burden. After all, he gave up being a magical girl because it was too much for him, and hearing how hard it was on Alice made him feel guilty, which in turn didn’t help her. Fortunately Alice had years worth of experience in holding it in. When you have to keep secrets in order to prevent the end of the world, you learn how to bottle up a lot of things.
Alice is a much better actor in this universe because of this, and it did help her get further in acting classes despite pushback and at least one teacher warning her about how she would be type casted in unflattering roles due to her body size. Still, at some point she wondered if it really was what she wanted to do. She spent years having all these eyes on her, having to be a commanding presence and play a part…
Despite Ian’s encouragement to keep acting with him, Alice dropped out. Though disappointed, he encouraged her to try and find her own dream. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, but in so many ways she was very, very tired.
Alice’s relationship with Ian wasn’t the happily ever after she thought it would be. Much like in the regular universe, things deteriorated between them, with his cheating being the final straw. Those issues were sharper in this world, unfortunately. Ian felt even more insecure having a partner who was this famous  magical girl superhero who saved the world many times over. He felt insignificant compared to Alice at times, like he wasn’t worthy of her, and she could do so much better than someone like him who constantly needed saving… At the same time though… he couldn’t let her go.
The person Ian cheated on Alice with was someone more “on his level,” just a normal person living a normal life who made him feel happy and attractive during a time when he was alone. Long distance relationships are so hard, especially when you’re convincing yourself that you’re always letting your partner down.
Alice didn’t take the confession that Ian cheated well, but she didn’t nearly drink herself to death in this universe. The issue in this world is that the enemy can use your crushing negative emotions against you, so Alice had to learn how to combat those feelings. Often it was by transforming and destroying a few dozen trees in a forest miles away from civilization. When she got all of her energy out, she fled the scene of her destruction and collapsed to the floor of their apartment in tears.
Shaun came by in the midst of her grief, as Ian had called him in a panic to check up on Alice when she wouldn’t pick up the phone for a long time. He was a good shoulder to cry on, and kept her company the entire night until she finally cried herself to sleep.
Of course… the breakup isn’t going to be easy when it comes to superhero identities. Ian proved he can’t be trusted after all by betraying Alice, and she can’t be with someone she can’t trust… but at the same time he knows her secret. It created a lot of tangled up feelings and drama. Ian keeps trying to regain her trust and get back together with her, but she can’t, not with how hurt she is and how much responsibility is on her shoulders.
A new threat could appear at any time. Sometimes unrelated big threats appear, small one-off things. Alice technically can never retire from being a magical girl. It’s part of what made figuring out her future at college difficult.
Honey Bunny, being a magical mascot in charge of keeping up secrecy, used magical means to make Ian forget about Alice’s secret identity and the part he played in the magical girl life. After all, if magical girls have a magical field that makes it so no one can identify them and their civilian persona, even when there’s photographs, then it makes sense there could be different magics to ensure people don’t uncover the secret. I mean, we are talking about the fate of the world after all. That’s pretty serious stuff.
Disillusioned by love, exhausted by her duties, and now only with Honey Bunny to confide in again, Alice feels more alone than ever. She struggles to figure out what she wants in life, knowing that she can’t ever truly stop being a magical girl, not when supernatural forces sometimes crop up to cause trouble… to say nothing of the threat of a potential new villain appearing like the one that forced her to become a magical girl in the first place.
It makes it hard for Alice to feel motivated. Her dreams are murky. She coasts through college, graduating with a general engineering degree just to have something to show for the cost of the classes. She gets a job at Yogurtopia because it at least has flexible hours and Barry at least accepted her excuse that sometimes she’ll have emergencies unexpectedly. He has her work extra hours to make up for those times when she has to cancel at the last minute. Even with a job like this, it feels like she’s hanging by a thread, barely holding on because her boss has decided to offer her leniency. Chances are she won’t get that elsewhere.
Supernatural Ghost(?) Jack
Of course, it’s during this period where Alice is feeling more lost and alone than ever that Jack appears. She sensed something strange about the video tape, but not dangerous. It was compelling, touched by magic, and left her feeling like she had to play it. Honey Bunny had a weird feeling about it and cautioned her when messing with it.
I’ve mentioned in previous posts that the connection between Jack and Alice was willingly made, at least for the Sunshine in Hell continuity. It’s no different in this AU. Alice, ever the hero, heard the pitiful cry of a soul trapped in hell, and saved him. Thanks to her years of being a magical girl, having her soul put to the test against many magical effects, Alice didn’t pass out after the pact was made, and she fully remembers the terms of their agreement.
In a way, this starts Jack and Alice off on the right foot. Alice feels a sense of purpose in trying to figure out what happened to Jack and how to help him, and she finds he’s actually a really nice friend. It’s also nice to be around someone who makes her feel understood. Honey Bunny is good company, but their complicated relationship isn’t the same as what develops between her and Jack.
Alice doesn’t let Jack know that she’s a magical girl, though he does know about Honey Bunny, if only because Honey Bunny asserted herself to make sure the terms of the magical pact between the two were fair and that there were no loopholes an unsavory character could take advantage of. Honey Bunny, being the guide for magical girls, has experience in setting up contracts, you see, and she does care deeply for Alice even though she also used the poor girl as a child soldier. Even if she didn’t have a lot of options at the time, it was still not a good thing to do to a kid.
Honey Bunny has a lot of guilt for everything she put Alice through, and is extra protective of Alice as a result. The two are very close, and Jack often feels jealous of their bond. He wants to be closer to Alice, his sunshine, his savior… closer than anyone. Their bond is special. He never felt this way about anyone before…
And Jack certainly doesn’t want anything to risk breaking the bond he has with his sunshine and being damned back to hell.
While Jack can sense Alice’s emotions and vice-versa through their connection, the wording of their pact is a bit tighter in this AU, and they can’t read each other’s minds. Still, that connection of empathy goes a long way in the two of them growing closer.
Jack helps Alice get some direction in life, feel more motivated in herself again in a way that Honey Bunny can’t quite manage to help her with due to their complicated history. He becomes an important part of her life, making it shine brighter and she feels happy in a way that she hadn’t felt in a long, long time.
Alice struggles with burdening Jack with anything, especially since she’s supposed to be the one trying to help him, being the superhero and all, but Jack wants to help her, and it feels so nice to be taken care of for a change.
Alice has carried the weight of the world on her own for so long.
Things get easier with Jack around. Though Alice still works towards helping Jack be human again so he can interact with others, the idea of him one day going off to live his own life is just so sad. But can she really believe him when he says that he wants to be her best friend forever?
Jack understands what Alice is trying to do for him, and he does appreciate it, but he’s not leaving her even if she thinks that’s what’s best for him. He doesn’t want to leave her. Besides, he can see that wouldn’t be best for her. She needs him, and the more time they spend together, the more he’ll do to show her that. It feels so good to have her need him, to feel useful and wanted. She’s such a remarkable person, so strong and brave, but he wants to take care of her. She deserves to be loved and cared for, especially after all she’s done.
Jack, with his supernatural abilities, finds out early on that Alice is a magical girl when she has to run off because of a sudden monster attack. He doesn’t reveal that he knows right away, but subtly encourages Alice to tell him herself. It hurts a little whenever she avoids the opportunities he gives her to open up to him and lies to hide her secret, but he understands that a big secret as this can’t be easy to share, especially after he’s seen what some of these monsters can do to people.
One of the ways Jack tries to encourage Alice to tell him involves talking up the magical girl that appears on the news sometimes, how amazing and courageous she is. Unfortunately, that backfires a bit. Alice is reminded of the way Ian gushed over her alter-ego in the past, and the memory hurts like hell. Jack notices right away that this line of conversation upsets her, even though she tries to hide it. She covers it up by pretending that she can’t see what’s so great about the magical girl except her looks, and Jack, very gently, redirects the conversation in a more positive direction.
After that Jack focuses on not idolizing the magical girl persona, but humanizing her. He says there’s more to “her” and everyone beyond their looks. Everyone is beautiful in their own ways, but Alice doesn’t need the ribbons and sparkles to shine. She doesn’t need to fight monsters to prove how brave she is. She’s the most beautiful, most courageous person he’s ever known.
Alice, flustered by his praise, protests that Jack is just saying that. After all, so many other people are so much more beautiful than she is, including the magical girl who totally isn’t her!
Jack focuses on Alice and her actions, all the things he’s noticed her do day by day that make her shine, the acts of kindness, her bravery and determination. At times his words cross over into things that he does as a magical girl, deliberately so, but vague enough that she wouldn’t immediately realize that he knows. It’s just enough to force her to look at that magical persona in a new light and see that it’s just a sparkling dress on top of the amazing person who invested so much of herself into doing the right thing and sacrificed so much of herself to make the world a better place.
Alice can’t help but feel moved. Jack has a way with words, and she can feel he cares about her. Falling in love with him is a slow burn, but comes as naturally as falling into his arms, and eventually the line is crossed. Although she believed that she would never find true love after everything that happened with Ian, Jack gives her the courage to finally try again.
Naturally this is a love story with a happy ending because I’m a sucker for my OTP. When Alice is forced to reveal her identity through a suitably dramatic moment to save people, Jack gently tells her in the aftermath that he already knew, and he was waiting for her to be ready to tell him. He also tells her it doesn’t change anything - she’s always been the most amazing person in the world in his eyes, with or without the magical wand and frills.
Jack and Alice get together before the reveal, which is a source of anxiety for Alice until everything is out in the open. Fortunately, Jack is so patient with her and helps her deal with her anxious feelings and worries. When the truth is revealed, he helps her avoid people in order to transform safely, gives her ideas for excuses to tell people in order to hide her magical girl persona.
Really, Jack would make for a good magical girl guide. He’s certainly clever and manipulative enough to handle the job. Plus if no one can see him, he can figure out the best hiding spots.
Alice helps Jack become human again, or as close as he can be. When he’s able to be seen by others, a part of her fears that he’ll find someone else, someone he wants more than her. Still, unlike with Ian, she finds herself able to be more open with Jack than she can with anyone else. She eventually learns to unburden herself with him, to show parts of herself that she feels are ugly and would let everyone else down if they saw them. She learns to release worries she held back from even Honey Bunny because of the weight of obligation she had to not let anyone down.
Jack accepts it all. He’s patient and listens to everything. It troubles him when Alice finally tells him all the horrors she faced as a magical girl, all the trauma and awful things that she had to experience for the sake of the world. It feels so unfair to him that such a kind soul has to suffer alone like this. He’s even more determined to be her shelter and give her a place she can feel at home.
Alice feels freer with Jack than she ever felt in her life. Even though Ian knew her secret, he couldn’t handle all the horrors. He couldn’t stand by her side, placing her above him on a pedestal. Even though Honey Bunny was there the whole time, Alice didn’t want to let her down and was looking to her for guidance. Jack, however, isn’t someone with expectations that she has to live up to or a victim to shield from the ugliness of the world. He feels like someone who is there for her, standing right next to her on her level. The weight on her heart feels just a little lighter after she finally accepts that sharing her burdens with Jack didn’t crush him under that weight.
Of course Ian has tried to get back together with Alice in this AU, but he’s had far less luck. His phone got blocked right after the breakup, as did all his social media pages. Their breakup wasn’t “for now” but “for good,” in this AU, much to his dismay. With all the responsibilities Alice has to carry, she has to think of the world before herself. She can’t be with someone who she can’t trust, and he proved that she can’t trust him. It’s lucky that he didn’t blab her secret identity in a moment of weakness before Honey Bunny made him forget!
Ian still reaches out in any way he can though, mostly to Alice’s family and any mutual friends. He stalks her socials through secret alt accounts and tries desperately in his regular life to become the man worthy of her. He constantly tries to figure out ways to make up what he did to her even while constantly putting himself down.
Because Ian forgot about Alice’s secret identity, he forgot that she’s also the mysterious magical girl that sometimes appears in the news for saving people. He can’t help but crush so hard on this mystery girl, and it fills him with so much guilt. He already cheated on Alice once without this silly crush making his heart flutter! He can’t let his heart be shaken up again! He needs to be loyal this time.
At the same time though, it’s over… Ian should move on. Yet, he can’t move on. He needs Alice. He knows he does. He can’t handle life without her. They’ve meant so much to each other for so long. His life feels empty without her.
Also a part of Ian subconsciously remembers the things they experienced when he knew her secret, and it deepens his longing to make things right. He betrayed Alice so deeply when she had such a burden to carry. The guilt is eating him alive and won’t abade until they’re together again.
Alice avoids Ian and is distant when talking with him. She’s able to mask her hurt with a frosty mask, but it’s so very, very painful. She can’t handle being near him or thinking about him for long.
Fortunately, the closer Alice gets with Jack, the less painful it gets to think about Ian. Her heart starts to heal thanks to Jack.
Unfortunately, Jack does not take too kindly to Ian’s attempts at getting back together with Alice Fortunately, he’s not the only one with this sentiment, as Honey Bunny doesn’t want Alice to get back together with Ian either.
Really, Honey Bunny was leery about the idea of Jack being with Alice the second she picked up on something developing between them. She was worried about Alice getting her heart broken again, but Jack is constantly proving her fears wrong. He makes Alice so happy. Maybe this strange and suspicious clown was what Alice needed all along…
Jack takes advantage of Honey Bunny not wanting Ian around to team up and thwart any attempts Ian might make to get back together with Alice. Honey Bunny is a bit of a mischief maker when left to her own devices, and Jack is very good at talking her into playing a few harmless magical pranks on Ian. Naturally, they do this without letting Alice know. No need to upset her by forcing her to think about Ian after all.
So, yes, Honey Bunny, in a way, is assisting Jack’s relationship with Alice in this world too, even if she’s more than a little  hesitant about trusting him with Alice’s heart. She would be even more hesitant if she knew just how thirsty Jack is for Alice. His constant attempts to seduce Alice once the two are in a relationship is a point of annoyance for Honey Bunny, and she serves as a cock block more than once.
Still, it’s not going to stop Jack from showing his sunshine lots and lots of love, or experimenting with magical girl powers in a kinky way. Just the skimpy outfit alone is begging to be used for sexy times, maybe in a bit of roleplay as well. Sometimes pretending to be in a position of vulnerability can help someone take back power they lost, and Alice can discover that being tied up isn’t so bad when the person doing it loves her dearly and will undo the bindings the moment that she feels overwhelmed.
Jack might be playing the role of wholesome kids show host, but he’s still an actor at heart. He can have a lot of fun pretending to be a villainous evildoer who has captured the virtuous magical girl and has her at his mercy. He’s also open for it to be reversed, to be the dastardly villain finally captured by the champion of justice. After all, Alice has a lot of experience teaching the bad guys how to place nice, and maybe she can have a lot more fun with it when Jack is the one she’s teaching a “lesson” with the power of love~
I can imagine Jack would also try to encourage Honey Bunny to give him magical girl powers like she did temporarily to Ian. It’d lessen Alice’s burden and help them both out. He already has supernatural abilities of his own and is bonded to Alice. He can handle the burden fighting evil for the sake of his sunshine and the world. He won’t crumble under the weight of this heavy responsibility like Ian did.
Naturally, it would take a lot of convincing after how far south things went with Ian, but Jack is patient and clever. He’s patient enough to encourage Alice to come to him despite her many fears and scars. He’s patient to encourage them both to trust him, and we all know he has a way with words. Eventually, magical girl Jack will enter the stage and fight for the sake of his sunshine. He’ll use the power of his love to help her shine even brighter than the sun.
Besides the bonus of magical girl powers, Jack would naturally take advantage of the magic that prevents people from connecting a magical girl’s identity with their civilian form. I mean, if no one knows who you are, you can have anonymous sex in public with no one the wiser. Of course, the biggest obstacle is convincing Alice to give it a try, but they’ll no doubt come up with a compromise that satisfies them both.
I think I’m going to wrap up things up there for now. This ramble has gone on way longer than I intended it to - close to 8000 words! And that’s without going into detail with the smut or inserting a snippet of writing this time. I hope you all enjoyed this blend of magical girl shenanigans and Sunny Day Jack. Maybe I’ll get more ideas and touch on this AU again sometime in the future.

Tips For VP When You're Rolling Without Mods
I've just recently gotten into virtual photography (mainly for Cyberpunk 2077) and I don't use mods. I play on console and vanilla PC. (I've noticed images are much crisper on PC but I'm still using the basic photo mode.)
There are a lot of amazing VPers and modders out there who make phenomenal use of mods and put a lot of time and love into their photos which is fantastic! It means we get to see all sorts of beautiful and super cool creative photos of OCs and characters and enviro shots that we'd never be able to see in the base version of the game. It's great!
However, if you don't have access to mods it can be intimidating to start taking photos when all you have is a vanilla version of the game. Unfortunately, these tips will not solve the dilemma of trying to take photos of your otps... But I'm here to tell you that vanilla is a perfectly fine flavor and despite the limitations, with a little ingenuity and problem solving, you too can take awesome photos.
Now, do I take the world's greatest photos? No. But I'm having fun and I enjoy the challenge of having to get creative with the limited set of tools at my disposal and I like taking candid photos. There's something magical about capturing a moment as it's happening.
So, here's what I've learned so far. All the photos below were taken on PS5 and, apart from adjusting the in game camera settings, are unedited.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lighting
Good lighting will do almost all your work for you in photography. However, unless you're carrying your own light around it's something you have very limited control over in game (and IRL), so you'll have to rely on what you find. There are going to be a lot of instances when you want to take a photo but the lighting just sucks. You learn to work around it. Once you learn to spot good light sources though you'll know them when you see them.
Portrait and character shots can be tricky without mods, NPCs don't always cooperate. But with a little patience and timing you can grab some really wonderful shots. You may need to hop in and out of photo mode a few times in order to get them though, especially if they're moving around.
For portrait style photos you're looking for radiant or diffused sources of light that'll highlight your subject, think ring selfie lights or when you walk into a naturally well lit room without direct sunlight coming in. Strong directional lighting works very well too, it's high contrast and can be very dramatic but you have to be more considerate of the angles and it's harder to utilize when you can't pose or move your subject. Color of light isn't so important (unless you're looking for specific mood lighting), you just need enough light to prevent your subject from looking washed out and blending in with the background.
For landscape or environmental shots you can change the time of day if you're looking for a particular vibe, and weather can add extra ambiance, so there's a bit more freedom with taking these kinds of photos. Different times of day have different types of light, different tones. Warm or cool. And lens flares and glare can make fun effects. Urban settings also generate a lot of their own light, which makes it much easier to photograph as a subject.
Take the time to get to know your light sources as well. Rotate your subjects or camera, if you're able, and check out what the lighting does at different angles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Play with the sliders
Exposure, contrast, highlights, depth, focus, and field of view are your friends. Get acquainted with them and figure out what settings you like, what works best in what situations, and don't be afraid to push the boundaries! Crank the settings to min and max just so you understand what they do. Hell, even some of the preset effects and camera angles are stellar too depending on what you're trying to accomplish.
Since there's no way to adjust saturation in game, I will typically bump down the exposure and up the contrast and highlights to make subjects stand out more and give the illusion of being more vibrant. I also know photos have a tendency to export darker on PS5, so I've learned to err on the side of making them slightly lighter than I want them. And it's personal preference, but I bump the film grain all the way up. Makes me feel like I'm using an old school camera.
Take the same shot with multiple settings in case something goes wrong or if you don't like the way something came out, or just to see the differences. It'll also give you a reference point for later in terms of what settings work for what kinds of photos you're trying to take.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Find the right angle
Be prepared to do some goofy ass shit for the sake of your photos. Getting in NPC's faces, moving around so characters heads will track your position, cheesing poses, climbing on furniture, scaling buildings and billboards, stealing trucks to use as step stools. It's all part of the fun.
You're gonna look ridiculous playing the floor is lava on desks, doing the slav squat on light posts, standing on top of street sweepers, or crouching like a gremlin on a ledge; but hey, you got the photo. Different angles (high, low, close-up, far) can also help frame your subjects, tell a story, or provide extra visual interest as well. And don't forget you can incorporate the environment too! The landscape can help set the scene, tone, and mood of your photos. I did some kind of parkour to get the photos below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Break the wall
The camera has a pretty limited range of movement, but sometimes you can break it or it'll break on it's own accord in certain scenarios. (Or V. Break V, your tripod.) Use that to your advantage. Phase through surfaces, rubber band off objects, utilize being able to pan farther than you normally would. Poke holes in physics and embrace the accidents. For instance, I've discovered that you can pan back much farther than normal when you jump onto the top of lamp posts. Like double or triple the amount you normally woud. No clue why, but it's very useful for landscape photos.
If you've played the game a few times and don't mind breaking your immersion you can also take photos during missions and gigs. You won't have the full range of camera options if you pull up photo mode during dialogue, but in between snippets of talking is a great time to snag photos of your favorite characters or places that become unavailable outside of quests.
The photo below was a happy accident and it's still one of my favorite shots I've taken. It looks like something out of a movie. I glitched through the wall, got stuck and ended up behind a fence way outside the range of where the camera is normally stuck around V. Total Bob Ross moment all because I was trying to see how far I could push the camera.
Tumblr media
Don't force it
Sometimes you get an idea for a cool shot, but something in the execution is lacking. Maybe it's the lighting or the way it's framed or you can't time it right. Don't sweat it and move on. Or revisit it later. Save often. Not everything has to be a masterpiece and that's okay. Everything is practice.
Tumblr media
The most important thing
Have fun! :)

OTP: Lite Sneeze // Macha Richter & Vinnie Gallo
Guys. This is emotional for me.
This is possible thanks to @gloryride - she made Macha an NPV, which means I can spawn her in Vinnies game as an NPC and pose her with him.
In real life, today marks the 10th wedding anniversary of me and my husband. And I get to show off my OTP in a joined pic for the first time. So I can't feel help but feel like there's some divine timing involved here.
More crying under the cut.
When I spawned her in and had Vinnie next to her, I started crying. When I started this journey in January of this year, I had NO IDEA about anything, RP, VP, OCs. I didn't know you could SHIP characters. I didn't know you could just make up their stories and lore. But I gladly fell into the rabbit hole that is the Cyberpunk 2077 VP fandom, and I don't regret a single minute.
I made these two out of Vs that I actually played with on console. They are now no longer Vs bc I can't have them die, ok.
They were not an OTP at first, but when someone asked if they could make an OC to ship with Vinnie, I was like - :but, but he has Macha!" And Lite Sneeze was born, albeit like Romeo and Juliet bc they could never be together (in a picture) - or so I thought.
And then I actually saw a picture of Dagger (by @wraithsoutlaws) and Ivarr (by @dreamskug ) TOGETHER. It was thos post - which is still so freaking badass. So I knew it was *theoretically* possible. Of course, I quickly learned that I wouldn't be able to do it myself, so imagine the joy when I heard that I could commission someone to make an NPV.
I tried recreating one of our wedding pictures, but - alas - I couldn't (yet). Posing a couple is so different, and I have so much learning to do. Lighting them is a challenge bc their skintones are so different. Vinnie needs an extra light, but with them being so close (🧡) it also reflects on her, and she is over exposed. Finding poses that fit. Their height difference! It is the same height difference my husband and I have - I made Vinnie as tall as he is, and Macha is my height (6'6/1,99 and 5'8/1,73). I mean, that feels amazing, but it's a challenge for VP for sure.
But I am sooooo happy with how the first pic turned out. I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS. I get so giddy looking at that. I think I managed to show their love in that pic.
Okay, so here's to a lot more shippy pics with Mr Gallo and Miss Macha bc I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

Gods please no more relationship indicators. Most people are already to lazy and dumb to use the pre-existing TWO (& and /) right, now add in a third (+) and what then? AO3 literally gives people a "how to tag relationships"-guide, and people are still too dumb to use them right. The two existing ones are also kinda open ended so that they cover most relationships to begin with without being specific, not just OTP and friends, but anything between or flips. Adding more just to be all nitty gritty will just fuck with the search function and make dumb people be even more dumb. I'm an expert at being dumb, I should know.
If you wanna write open ended, queerplatonic, or whatever TAG THE THING. Please, TAG THE THING. So many people never TAG THE THING that is a big part of the story. TAG THE THING so people who want to read about THE THING can find it when searching the TAG FOR THE THING. It's about helping people find THE THING because you TAGGED THE THING.
Even if you think "why the fuck should I tag it?" don't tag for the haters, tag for the lovers trying to find THE THING. Instead of adding more relationship indicators, or eg adding more ship categories TAG THE THING. You don't need a specific extra category, just TAG THE THING. You write genderqueer? TAG IT. You write queerplatonic? TAG IT. You write about enemies to lovers to enemy lover, to friends to lover friends enemies? TAG IT! HELP US FIND THINGS BY TAGGING THEM.

I watched for the first time perks of a wallflower earlier and now that I read the shoko fic I just kept picturing this scenario where Shoko and Yaga are talking and yaga topic changes to reader and conversation goes something like
Shoko: why do good people choose the wrong people to love
Yaga: we accept the love we think we deserve
Shoko: can we make them know that they deserve more?
Yaga: we can try
Que shoko being the biggest sweetheart to r showing her love for the first time bc we all know her family didn’t do anything but give her trauma
I love shoko and r so much 😭
SAMEEE my otp 😭😭
i cried writing the part where shoko cries because when i think abt how i could develop r, it dawned on me that shoko is literally soooo important to reader.
Tumblr media
like i can see her going throughout the rest of the day thinking about it and later that night when reader is tiyding up shoko’s room, she suddenly asks, “why me?”
and readers processing her words, “well..i just know i’d take you over anyone. no one has made, and continues to make, my life change into something better.. into something i can accept and live with. but now i have you. and i just hope for as long we’re together, that i show you how grateful i am.”
and shoko’s eyes well up, fingers shakily as she swears to herself to give you ever single thing you could possibly want in the world, material or emotion. she feels like it’s cruel the world turned enough for you to somehow end up with someone like her. you could do something much better she thinks.
way better than the bouquets she gives you every month, that you take care of daily, better than the extra kisses that you’re never afraid to wipe away. maybe even better than the stressed atitudes she gives you, better than the whispers of apologies that she’ll give nearly an hour later. why couldn’t you just go after something— someone, better?
but perhaps, when those thoughts become apparent to you, you can convince her that she does enough. more than enough. that she doesn’t realize just how much she’s affected you. no one will ever compare to her.

Bryke was in the Podcasts Braving Element book fire, and one the most interesting in that conversation was Bryke say Kataang relationship in Book fire was their favorite and Basco he is vibing for Maiko, but he say the headband episode is technically filler, it means is not canon that episode? What you think?
"Filler" was an anime term, about episodes that existed solely to give the manga they were adapting extra time to get more content for them to adapt. The filler episodes are canon (to the anime versions at least), but they don't move the plot forward, so if you skip them you don't miss anything important.
Eventually the term stopped being used solely for anime - and some idiots started using it to mean "bad episode", but the actual meaning is still the same: the episode can be skipped without the audience being confused. Only now these episodes exist not to catch up with a source material (in Avatar's case there wasn't one in the first place since it was an original series, not an adaptation) but rather as a "breather" episode, that can be more light-hearted, or character-driven instead of plot-driven.
To give an Avatar exemple: "Tales of Ba Sing Se" is filler, but it's still canon. It does not, in any way, further the Dai Li plot the previous episode had established - but we get focus on the characters, their personalities, dynamics, and THE tear-jerker that is Iroh singing to both honor his son and express his grief over his death. We already knew Lu Ten was dead and Iroh was grieving, but this episode gives it further depth.
Even if "The Headband" was filler, it'd still be canon - and so would be the dance with Katara clearly being into Aang.
And I personally do NOT consider "The Headband" filler. It furthers the whole theme of the season and the series ("How do you rebuild a world consumed by war? Through kindness"), we (and more importantly, the protagonist) get a deeper look into the indoctrination the people of the Fire Nation are subjected to, and more importantly, it is the episode in which we are introduced to Combustion man - ya know, the assassin that will try to kill the Gaang? The secondary villain of half the season? The one that is Zuko's attempt to resolve the problem of "The Avatar is supposed to be dead" that the previous episode introduced? Aka it is connected both to the aftermath of the Ba Sing Se plot and the "Zuko goes from villain to ally of the good guys" plot?
You CAN'T skip this episode without being confused as to who the fuck is that guy chasing the Gaang and who sent him after them. You'd have to wait until his last appearance, in which Zuko confronts him, for you to realize what the villain's deal was, meaning that PLOT would only become coherent after it was basically resolved.
It furthers the plot, therefore it isn't filler. It's just not ALL about the plot. By that logic, nearly every episode of season one is filler. The Beach is filler. Well over half the fucking show is filler if we're only counting episodes that have BIG, plot-twisting events as "important" episodes. Bryke need to stop parroting fandom nonsense to gain points.
As for Dante Basco being all excited about Maiko despite being a big zutara fan, that does not surprise me. He has ALWAYS said he liked their romance, and that Mai is the kind of girl he'd try getting with in real life.
Once again, the epic "power struggle" between Zutara fans and the evil dark lords Bryan and Mike is only in the fandom's weird minds. They weren't always kind to shippers, but the simple fact that they're so chill with Dante, and lots of other people, including writersn who went on his podcast and said everything from "I don't really care for Zutara, but I think could have worked" to "It's one of my OTPs" shows that this "Bryke VS Zutara" war is VERY one-sided and exists solely because people can't accept that, no, the writers are not throwing away their entire plan just to please you.

axis from undertale yellow
Favourite thing about him:
ROBOT ROBOR WEEEE- also he’s an angry horny gremlin that is consistently funny, I absolutely love comedic characters
Least favourite thing about him:
There is not enough Axis in the actual game, once you leave SteamWorks he is gone from the story similar to Dalv, only being relevant in story outside of the game which is pre-undertale yellow. He doesn’t get to contribute as much and you can only get extra stuff if you backtrack which many players will probably not do. I wish he got to interact with other main characters and contribute to the plot.
Favourite line:
(Hands clover a trash can lid) “HOLD THIS, IT SUITS YOU”
brOTP:
I think he and clover could’ve been bros, if he got more screen time that is, clover is the calm listener and axis would probably vent a lot to him since he finally has someone to talk to
OTP:
Well it’s basically canon that he absolutely loves daisy (canon name for the spouse we made I think), I saw a friend ship him with Trashy and I think that’s funny and awesome. I personally ship him with guardener because they’re both robots in the same area, who are super lonely and probably dealing with depression in different ways, they deserve each other. I love ship dynamics like that (tall calm and angry small gremlin)
nOTP:
Just don’t ship him with children
Random headcanon:
Axis has a memory backup thing where he has the memories of all previous models, he remembers every time he malfunctioned and probably knows he lost Chujin his job, he feels really bad about that and doesn’t understand why Chujin still treats him so well, which is why he really looks up to him.
Unpopular opinion:
as funny as the spouse moment is I feel kinda bad that we basically let him live in blissful ignorance with a pile of trash, it just feels sad and pathetic, he was that lonely and instead of offering him companionship we just threw him a bone and ran away. He deserves an actual spouse at the very least (like bro guardener was right there arrange a date with her or something)
Song I associate with him:
I don’t have a song since I mainly listen to a lot of vocaloids that don’t suit him a lot but there’s a game ost I think fits him, omori ost Chaos Assembly
Favourite image of him:
I can’t pick a favourite so I’ll show a few and you can use to your heart’s content
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also any fanart of him is my favourite image ❤️

Eternal Brotherhood
LMAO, so all their ridiculous posturing in the street was actually a secret code 🤣🤣
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are such idiots 🤣🤣
***
Oh, so Si Yilin is the OTP with Ka Dan?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interesting and hilarious! I can get behind that!
I like him but she bores me senseless. I've seen people hating on Ning but at least she's funny. Ka Dan has been such a cardboard cut-out so far, it's super hard to relate to her.
***
LMAO, A-Xiu's ridiculous ass dressed up as the princess, didn't it 🤣🤣
Tumblr media
***
The assassin is a WOMAN??
Tumblr media
Who do we have so far?
Baichuan and A-Xiu's boss? 🤔
I am not happy with either of these choices.
***
LMAO, his constipated ass is already in love as if he had never seen a woman before in his life 🤣🤣
Tumblr media
Sorry, Si Yilin, sucks to be you 😂😂
***
Really gorgeous!
Tumblr media
Also, Baichuan showing up at the prison is suspicious af, but also looking like a misdirection.
For now, my money is on the boss being the assassin.
***
LMAOOO, Ka Dan escaped 🤣🤣
Looking forward to more of her trickery!
***
When does she start using her brain, though?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or is she going to wait for Si Yilin to rescue her after she betrayed his trust and escaped?
***
She was seriously intending to slit her own throat??
Tumblr media
And here my stupid self thought that she was conning them into giving her the knife so that she could murder them 😑😑
And of course, it was Si Yiling who had to save her, smh.
I can't stand her.
***
LMAOOOOO, he's an idiot and there is no woman, but, girl, you really need to grow some standards 🙄
Tumblr media
***
Facepalming forever 🤦‍♀️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I can't figure out yet, though, is whether he's subconsciously self-sabotaging or if he is deliberately trying to make himself as obnoxious to her as possible because he thinks nothing good can come out of her loving him.
***
He's been shot by an arrow through the chest but let's worry about her spraining an ankle, smh.
Tumblr media
***
And now he has to carry her despite the arrow through his chest because she is too delicate to walk on her own two feet on anything but a perfectly level road, and is also apologising for the "disrespect" 🙄
Tumblr media
I cannot.
***
LMAO, if he's not careful, Lord Lu will mistake his nonsense for actual flirting and then he'll be in extra trouble 😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, though.
I know that my yaoi goggles are perpetually glued on, but even the average viewer must see that all their interactions so far have been sexually charged, right? The intent might be comic relief, but the sexual innuendo is 100% there.
***
I MEAN!! 🤯🤯
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this was a Western show, there would be a bajillion kinky fics on Ao3 within a day of this airing!
It's not even subtext at this point.
***
LMAO, Si Yilin wishes 🤣🤣
Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
LMAO, what even 🤣🤣
Tumblr media
I thought he would get Baichuan or Ning to dress up, not put on lipstick himself 🤣🤣
Anyway, for this to work, Lord Mu Qi must be really invested in the peace talks being a success. Yikes.
Also, I have to wonder if Lord Lu was to see him like this, he'd be more or less inclined to kidnap and abscond with him to the North, peace talks be damned 🤣🤣
***
Mu Qi is really invested 😅
Tumblr media
He is definitely playing along.
I'm curious if Lord Lu is behind the attempted assassination and that's why he's insisting on seeing "her" because he knows she can't possibly be there.
***
I'm so glad he's not an idiot and I'm absolutely going to be shipping him with A-Xiu 😋
Tumblr media
***
ASK LORD LU!! 🤣🤣
Tumblr media
Also, I love Lord Ge to bits 🖤

I do gotta say tho, even tho I’m mad at aziraphale because he’s being a terrible boyfriend like what you said about the “I forgive you like” because WHAT. But also I really like the way the show really demonstrates the underlying cruelty of heaven and it’s angels. Really shows the hypocrisy of a group of beings who are supposed to do good, especially aziraphale who really buys into the heaven propaganda, who hurts people, particularly the person who means the most to him. Because like you said he fully just takes advantage of that devotion Crowley has for him. Insane, this shwo makes me INSANE
I missed this anon and yeah! The angels were one of my favourite parts of the season, and I think the strongest element aside from Neil Gaiman deciding he's just a simple man who wants to put his otp in situations. They are deeply awful and I kind of love them. They are the exact kind of moralizing hypocrites who are callous and cruel precisely because they think being on team good means everything they do is justified and it's actually impossible for them to be in the wrong (they're angels! is it even possible for them to do the wrong thing?).
but!! To me, they also seem like they're basically kids? Obviously they're not literally children, but there is this very consistent reoccurring joke about how childish/sheltered/immature they are. Muriel is the most obvious example, but the archangels come off like bratty twelve year olds to her sweet little kid.
Gabriel is basically teenager in love flipping off his family as he runs away with his backstreet guy. Uriel is constantly picking at Michael, Michael is playing at being in charge like it's a game, and it's ridiculously easy for both Aziraphale and Crowely to trick them obvious half assed lies. They're not allowed to ask questions! The Metatron treats them like badly behaved kids out past their curfew. At any point an old man with a beard may pop up to scold them and send them home, and they're all scared of doing something wrong by his standards and getting in trouble with this guy who is pointedly not God but who lines up exactly with the pop-culture idea of god the father, and who offers Aziraphale, among other things, a respite from the hard work of figuring out what the right thing to do is for himself. It's fine! You don't have to question the belief system you were born into or make a painful break with everything you've ever known! Aziraphale has had six thousand years on earth to grow up, but the other angels have been sitting in a sterile white box playing "i'm not touching you" games with each other and filing paperwork.
And I think that's extra interesting because this season also really emphasizes:
Heaven has Institutional Problems
Aziraphale isn't the only angel who's unhappy in heaven. Gabriel and Muriel were both completely miserable. They just didn't understand that they were unhappy because they'd never experienced anything else.
Angels who aren't Aziraphale can change and grow! There's very explicitly Gabriel being changed by love and Muriel growing up a bit on earth, and from a more fan-theory angle there's also Jimbriel, who I think is probably basically Gabriel minus the war and six thousand years of playing referee for Michael and Uriel while unleashing an assortment of plague and calamities on earth because that's God's will! Buck up champ.
We also get Gabriel and Beezelebub talking about how their underlings basically live for Armageddon, "if you can call that living." This is so bleak. They've all been on a six thousand year time out just dreaming of the day they get to beat the shit out of each other until they feel better, but it won't work because eternity is just more of the box.
Anyway I think it's going in a distinctly eden adjacent direction. Aziraphale is going to tempt those angels with knowledge and the capacity for change. I have veered so far from your ask anon i'm sorry you're right heaven really went all out on sucking this season & while Crowley and Aziraphale are both fucking it up Crowley refrains from being spectacularly cruel to Aziraphale about it and Aziraphale should learn to return the favour. I forgive you!! I forGIVE you. I forgive YOU. "you can be an angel again" is actually a worse thing to say than "you're a demon. i don't even like you." when he finally picks crowley over heaven i'm going to lose my mind.
#good omens spoilers#good omens season two spoilers#idk it makes me sad that i didn't like the humans very much this season because i think ideally they're central to this whole how to be#a person question i also hope we get to see more of hell next season because i do think they're stuck in basically the same place#with a different aesthetic! and the stick being#thrown into a torture pit instead of thrown into hell#or like. mindwiped and locked in an office for all eternity#gabriel broke my heart which is embarrassing but when he goes from not even understanding what music is to experiencing#the simple pleasure of sharing a song with someone for the very first time and almost immediately hits repeat for eternity... baby. baby bo#i would also like more crowley! this was very much the season of aziraphale#which is fine but i missed him yelling questions at god and the bits where it seemed he really wanted aziraphale's opinion instead of just#wanting aziraphale to develop better opinions#next season had better be crowley wrestles with the universe i am telling you!!!#remember three months ago when i was like eh... another good omens season#i bet it'll be cute but i'm content with my book#i don't go here i said strapping on my clown shoes#seriously though i do think crowley is scared to admit to wanting to be good both because god rejected him and he doesn't want#to be a sucker for her (he is only interested in being a sucker for aziraphale)#and like. chase after something he's barred from and has already been told isn't for him.#and that's why it's so hard for him to admit even to himself that he too would be unhappy ditching earth#in ways that parallel aziraphale's unwillingness to let go of heaven as a source of moral authority and goodness#but the way aziraphale goes oh no! i cannot trust my own judgement and desires. They are suspect!#my judgement is that crowley is good and also funny and sexy. my desires are for his company and also his body#therefore the source of these desires is also maybe bad. i mean he's a demon. he's got to be bad#right??? but no. but i saw him do a good thing. but maybe i didn't? I should probably take a stance on this.#and he makes this crowley's problem until the apocalypse but then the second he gets the chance to cram crowley and his feelings for him#back in a heaven approved box he jumps at it in a way that requires just being WILDLY insensitive and dismissive of crowley's feelings#he's not just being a dick about their relationship he is being a dick about crowley as a person. and he should know better but is choosing#not to because he wants the easy out so badly. anyway i love him he was my favourite character all season no notes#good omens

"The Pilot"
Tumblr media
Welome to the very first drop of "Get in the Shop" !
Welcome to the start of “Get in The Shop!” The Rookie Re-Watch Blog! I am not sure how I plan on going about doing this blog, but there is no time like the present to start.  I have to warn that this is one of those figure out as I go type of ordeals; I have never done this before and I did brief research about the “dos and donts” of blogging, especially one of a tv show recap so I truly am just going to go with the flow.  I think I am going to post a new blog drop every Sunday and if I have any extra time during the week, maybe a Tuesday?!
If I try one thing and it doesn’t work, I will move and and try the next best thing with the end goal of having the best blogging/re-watch system that I can create for myself.  I am not an expert in any way.  This blog is solely a fan based one that I am choosing to do for my own mental health to get me, myself and I through whoever long this summer (plus) hiatus may last and if I happen to find friends along the way that will read my thoughts and interact with me then I couldn’t ask for anything better!
I think I will take notes as I watch the episode and then immediately following it, I will expand on those notes or should I watch the episode in its entirety in full and then type up everything I want to say about said episodes…
I want to preface the beginning of my re-watch by saying that I had no idea that this show even existed prior to me finding it on Tik Tok.  I saw a #Chenford scene from Season 5 Episode ! That was blowing up on TikTok and I immediately started watching it so I can obsessed over a new OTP without realizing Tim & Lucy weren’t even a though until Season 5.  So I did start it because of them but stayed because of how much I love this show.
I am going to try my best to do this re-watch as if I don’t know anything that is to come in later episodes/seasons but I make no definitely promises!!
Let’s get into it!!!
Season 1 Episode 1:
Title: “The Pilot” Original Air Date: October 15th, 2018
Synopsis: After a life altering incident, a small town guy (Nathan Fillion) peruses his dream of being a police officer.
First Impression of John Nolan: Eager
First Impression of Jackson West: Naive
First impression on Angela Lopez: Badass
First Impression on Talia Bishop: Out of Place
First Impression on Lucy Chen: Hotshot
First Impression on Tim Bradford: Hot! #IYKYK
First Impression on Wade Grey: Seasoned
First Impression on Zoe Anderson: Authoritative
The episode begins with a bank robbery.  Which is fitting given there needs to be something to correlate this show with the premise of it: “A Silly Little Cop Show”.  John Nolan was definitely at the right place at the right time. Without knowing he goes on to become a cop after the bank robbery- you can tell that John has a passion for helping people.  You have to want to help people in some capacity in wanting to become a police officer right?
The very first showing of The Rookie theme song.  It is a not even 10 second snippet of a full length song but man does it work.  It works so good that I am glad they never got rid of it.  There were shows that I watched in the past who had a whole opening credit scene/song which eventually faded out for it to just be a title card of the show (One Tree Hill I’m looking at you) so for The Rookie to have just ended its 5th season and to still have the little opening credit is cool!
After the cold open, the timeline jumps to “Nine Months Later”.  The first day on the real job.  No more training wheels, no more tests (so Lucy Chen thinks), no more papers and skills labs.  The beginning of the rest of their lives.
The introduction of Lucy Chen. She isn’t even clocked in for her first day of work and she already makes an arrest.  Way too cool for us or way too over eager to make a lasting first impression to everyone at the station?  Only time will tell.  But do you know what did make a great first impression? Her car!  Let’s hope this isn’t the last we see of that thing!
I know we are focusing on the present but it doesn’t mean I can’t wish that we saw any kind of flashbacks of the time that not only John but Lucy and Jackson were in the academy. How did they get there? How did they excel or did they fail? What happened in the academy that John, Lucy and Jackson all became friends?!  It would’ve been cool to see!
Enter the infamous roll call room and the immediate jokes of John Nolans’ age. I really have no background regarding anything police related but I am assuming that someone of John’s age normally isn’t a rookie cop.  More so of the age of Lucy and Jackson.  So I don’t think this will be the last we hear of any ageist jokes of John Nolan and being a Rookie.  You can tell it is all in good fun and John takes it in stride. We all love our enemies to lovers storylines, but will there be an enemies to friendship between John and Wade Grey? This first episode shows no, but only time will tell.  We all have to be forever grateful to Watch Commander Wade Grey for playing the “Training Officer Match Game” and matching up rookie Lucy Chen with Training Officer Tim Bradford. (Thank you writers!)
The very first day gets off to a start.  The T.O’s teaching all of their boots the basics of the shop.  The ins and outs of the shop, what to do every morning, before going out on patrol to start your shift.  The basics and less than exciting aspect of being a cop.
Tim and Lucy. Or what we only knew then: Officer Bradford and Boot.” Lucy had no idea what to expect, not form her first day on the job and certainly not from her T.O. I think she immediately wanted to try to create some sort of bond/friendship with Tim but quickly realized that went out the window when he did his very first, what we all have come to learn and love, “Tim Test”.  “I’ve been shot! Where are you boot? I’m bleeding to death and you have to call for help. Where are you?” We will get back to that later on..
Side Note: I am trying very hard to pretend I have never seen any other episode besides this first one.  It is hard to compare Tim and Lucy then with what we know about their relationship now and just how their friendship progressed. I want to recap the episodes as if I was watching it for the ver first time.  It is hard but I ma going to do it!!!
Food Trucks! I never eat at food trucks much but do they officers of Mid-Wilshire make me want too!  The scene at the food truck was a nice way to show the two separate trios separately but together.  You have the experienced, veteran officers: Tim, Talia and Angela and then you have the brand new rookie officers: John, Lucy and Jackson. It’s smart TV. Yes this show is about John Nolan but it’s also about so, so much more.
You quickly start to see how much John cares about wanting to be a cop but in hindsight really has no idea just how to be one.  He thinks he does, mainly because of his age, but he doesn’t, not really.  All he knows is the 9 months he was in the academy. That’s it and it is evident the amount of training that he does need. He hopes he’s doing all the right things in order to succeed but in reality he is not: Using the baton to try to break the car window repeatedly even though it didn’t work the first few times; not putting on his gloves when going to help the husband of the domestic violence call- Blood Bourne Pathogens anyone?  Throughout this whole episode you quickly see how eager John is to be “a cop” but not HOW to be a cop. One thing is for sure is that John knows his way with words. The potential is there- it just needs to be taught.
The comedic relief of this show is introduced and it is much appreciated.  “I just got a disturbing video.  I’ve never seen anything so horrific..so prepare yourselves” said one Grey Wade and turns out it was the body cam footage of John trying to hop the fence.  There needs to be some light hearted fun in a profession where it can be serious most of the time!
I am immediately intrigued by this already established friendship between Lucy Chen, Jackson West and John Nolan. We already saw them interact in their work life so now we see them interacting in their personal lives.  It is a nice storytelling aspect of this episode.  The premise of the show is about the lives of newbie police officers but what happens after they clock out for their shift? And now we get to see it! The karaoke bar cuts right into the morning after where they make us want to believe John called the badge bunny and they spent the night together but SURPRISE! John wakes up to Lucy Chen!
(Please don’t hate me for what I am about to say)
The first time I watched this- I have to say I wasn’t turned off entirely by the brief relationship of John and Lucy. (Considering at this time, the romantic side of Tim and Lucy wasn’t even a thought, to anyone and that John really had better chemistry with literally anyone else). I am not opposed to have seen this relationship continue for a bit longer, if this was the only romantic option for either Lucy or John, I think I would have been okay with this relationship, I think it had potential.  John wants their relationship to become public and Lucy doesn’t. Lucy has every right to feel those feelings. Lucy knew from the start that no matter what she did in her career she would always have to fight for her place in the force where John would never be questioned twice for it and rightfully so: sexism. Talia seeing that little moment between Lucy and John at the end of the episode after the shoot out was on purpose.  It just confirmed to Lucy that she was correct in her feelings and reasonings as to why she wanted her and Johns relationship to remain a secret.
It’s only the second day on the job and we already start to see Lucy’s frustration with Tim.  She quickly sees that Tim’s training methods are not conventional.  I don’t think we know that they are called Tim Tests yet, but outside of the liquor store, we witness Tim Test #2 and as Lucy is cuffing Ghost Head we meet an Isabel.  The Tim we saw is gone. The second he lays eyes on Isabel he becomes a shell of a person. The tears well up in his eyes and his voice cracks. He is no longer Officer Bradford, he is just Tim Bradford; a man that is desperate for his wife who he hasn’t seen in over a year. That does something to a person and Tim hides it well. Does Isabel recognize him at first? It’s hard to say but what is clear is that Tim is helpless when it comes to her.  I mean wouldn’t anyone who hasn’t seen their WIFE in over a year be, no matter what their profession is. He does exactly what she asked him to do: give her money even though its the last thing he wanted to do.  The quick glance back to Lucy? What does that mean?
You can’t have a cop show without actual action scenes right?!  And this one literally started with a bang!
I never expected Tim to get shot at in the very first episode but it was smart storytelling.  Tim’s first “Tim Test” paid off well because there was zero hesitation when Lucy called in Tim being shot. She knew what to say and how to say it and she did it with fierce conviction. It’s only been two days but Tim knew what he was doing when that first test was executed.
We didn’t see much of Jackson or Angela this episode in the field until the very end. And what a way to end this episode for Jackson, which left us all scratching our heads at the cliffhanger question: Why did Jackson freeze up in the middle of the field?  We can’t get all of the answers in the first episode and the confrontation between him and Angela in the locker room was a nice segue to what’s to come for them.  Not only for them but for the rest of the ensemble! It was a stellar first episode of the start of an amazing series!
At the end of every recap I am going to do an honorable mention that I did not discuss at all in my above rant as well an episode “peak” the high point of the episode, what made the episode great among other things and a “pit” the low point of the episode, something we could’ve done without and just a few random thoughts I need to get off my chest!!
Honorable Mention: The long sleeve uniforms!
Episode Peak: The introduction of “Boot”
Episode Pit: John Nolan’s Hair
Episode Rating: 10/10 (It was the Pilot Episode I would be a troll if I rated it any less!)
Random Thoughts:
I have never heard of Melissa O'Neil until I watched this show and it's safe to say my life is changed for the better now that I know that precious of a human exists. She was made a lasting imprint on my life in the best way possible. I will be a forever fan of hers.
Eric Winter ages life fineeeeeee wineeeeeee
I would love for these posts to be an open dialogue! I want to connect with other fans and hear your thoughts and opinions! What do you agree with? What do you disagree with?!  Is there anything I should change for my future blogs? I want this to be not only a fun hiatus but a fun thing for all of us to do together!
Until next time on “Get in The Shop”!

Sunny Day Jack - Omegaverse AU Headcanons
Soooo… A/B/O. Alpha/Beta/Omega, also known as the Omegaverse. Let’s see what happens when I mix it with Something’s Wrong with Sunny Day Jack, shall we?
This is going to be a pretty off the wall ramble, since, well, Omegaverse doesn’t have any set rules besides Alphas are strong, territorial, and are thirsty as hell because of the pheromones Omegas give off when they go into heat and are ready to make babies. I’ve found during my idle browsing of various pages on the subject that each storyteller tackles the rules differently, sometimes wildly so.
So I’m just gonna do whatever I want. Sounds good?
I’ll take your inability to respond as a resounding yes.
Content warnings: this post is going to be full of talk about sex, from sexy times to sex organs, and maybe even some smutty snippets if I feel inspired. I mean, Omegaverse is rooted in sex, so it’s a given. There might be mention of the darker sides of sex like SA and sexual harassment, but I’m going to be mostly sticking with shamelessly indulging in my OTP as much as possible. That means I’m going to be using my OC Alice in the main character’s role, but feel free to play around with any of my headcanons for your MCs if you feel like dabbling in this silly crossover of smutty subjects too.
First off, Alice (/MC) is an Omega in this AU, and all the love interests are Alphas. It’s fitting for a protagonist of an erotic romance game with a bunch of suitors, don’t you think?
Yes, even Ian is an Alpha. I’m playing with the tropes a bit, and I think it would be fun to play with the idea of Ian being intimidated by the pressures of being an Alpha. Not to mention I can see his mother coming down even harder in this universe due to his Alpha urges.
The Worldbuilding
It might be good to go into how I’m going to define the basic rules of my dip into this Omegaverse. In this world, genders are sorted first into Alpha, Beta, and Omega. After that they’re divided further into male, female, or any other flavor of non-binary. There’s a hell of a lot more gender variety in this world, and a lot of folks who have both sets of sexy bits to play with.
There’s also a supernatural aspect to these genders that give Alphas and Omegas extra abilities that Betas don’t typically have. Betas are the closest to normal humans and tend to have the same amount of male/female/intersex variety. They’re the largest percentage of the population, and are susceptible to the influence of Alphas. Still, they, like all people in this world, are much more in tune with their instincts than people are here.
Alphas are all capable of insemination, and as such regardless if they have a clit, a dick, or whatever else, they produce sperm. Those who also have a uterus as well tend to be regarded as female or intersex Alphas.
What separates Alphas from Betas are their supernatural abilities. Alphas tend to be bigger and stronger, with sharper senses. They have a commanding presence to them that mildly affects others. It’s not mind control, but it can influence the instincts of Betas to make them feel inclined to submit to their will proportionally to how strong the Alpha’s will is. Because of this, Alphas often are the ones who take commanding roles and other positions of power. They also often clash with other Alphas often because of this instinct to take charge of others.
Alphas often have some slight animal features as well. Sometimes they’re born with harder nails like claws, or fangs. Sometimes they have extra features to their dicks like you’d find in a Bad Dragon toy. Knots and wolfish instincts are the most common features an Alpha can have, but more rarely you get other animal features, like a cat’s ability to purr and have smaller bumps/ridges on their penises that similarly are meant to keep a cock locked in place after cumming. These animal influences can result in very interesting variety in the bedroom for those who want to sample what various Alphas have to offer.
Yes, I was thinking of Shaun when I came up with these alternative animal traits. I just couldn’t picture him acting wolf-like or having a knot like the other guys. I mean, maybe he could pull off the catdog look, but I think it’s more interesting if his features are more on the feline side.
Alphas are more sensitive to the pheromones of others due to their enhanced sense of smell. They also tend to have a much higher libido than Betas, so it’s not uncommon for them to be very sexually promiscuous. There is a supernatural aspect to the pheromones as well that allow Alphas to “mark” others with a unique energy signature that makes it easier to find them and let other Alphas know that someone with that mark is under their protection. These marks can only be made with consent of both parties involved, and are usually temporary depending on the relationship the Alpha has with the person marked.
Mate marks are made when an Alpha wants to mate for life with one person in particular. They’re a very serious commitment that can’t be undone, and it can’t be done if either party is even the slightest bit uncertain about that level of commitment to one another. As such, it’s not something that happens anywhere near as often as marriage.
By mating like this, an Alpha is sharing their life with another person, regardless of gender, and their mate is agreeing to the same. Mates are able to sense things about their mate all the time, no matter how far apart they are, with a strong sense of empathy and the ability to pick up when they’re distressed, in danger, horny, etc. This can lead to mates being clingy and instinctively seeking each other out more than usual relationships. This also has a tendency to make for a lot of sexy fun times between mates.
Those who have gotten these mate marks are called a “fated pair.” Since it’s so difficult to commit so completely to another person and allow them so much access to yourself, these marks are rare enough that the pair are thought of as soulmates. There are even stories of fated pairs who were reborn and found each other again in their next lives. Mate marks are all unique to that fated pair and can be fairly complicated, sometimes even very colorful. This is a magical world after all.
A fated pair are fully committed to one another. The idea of leaving their mate for someone else becomes unthinkable. In a way they’ve become one and feel incomplete without the other. Their strengths and pain are shared. They are no longer able to feel romantic or sexual attraction to anyone else but their mate, but they make each other stronger by being bound together. The natural abilities of Alphas and Omegas increase with the mate mark, making them more powerful, and Betas awaken their own supernatural power - the power to dampen or even neutralize the abilities of other Alphas and Omegas.
An Alpha can have their fated pair be an Omega, Beta, or even another Alpha. Not every Alpha has a fated pair, and polyamory is more common and more accepted in this universe. With so much gender diversity, pansexuality is far more common than heterosexuality in this world. The topic of sex is also less taboo to discuss due to the phenomenon of “heat” and “rut.”
Heat and rut are when a person experiences an increased desire for sex and their instinct to reproduce is heightened. The only difference is whether the person’s desire is to impregnate someone (rut) or be impregnated (heat). This is a side-effect of the supernatural powers of the people of this world, and as such affect Alphas far more strongly than anyone else, but Betas sometimes experience a milder version. It doesn’t seem to be tied to a particular season, but more to the individual. Sometimes a heat/rut can be set off by an Alpha getting too excited while using their powers for a prolonged period of time.
Of course, we can’t talk about heat without going into Omegas. Omegas are the rarest type. If Betas make 90% of the population, Alphas take up 9%, and Omegas only 1%. All Omegas have a uterus and are capable of being impregnated and carrying young. Omegas are empaths, very perceptive to the emotions of others, with the supernatural ability to heal, and are often thought of as nurturing figures.
Omegas also are the only ones that can instinctively make Alphas submit due to their pheromones. When in heat, they can send anyone receptive nearby into rut. Their smell is appealing even to Betas and they have a natural allure to them, though Betas can’t go into heat/rut.
Now, in a lot of Omegaverses, this is where the dubious/non-consent comes in hard. While I can understand the appeal of a character going into heat, desperate for sex, attracting everyone and making them desperate to have sex with them… Consent is king in this house, baby, and that includes my version of Omegaverse.
Heat and rut don’t strip an Alpha/Omega of their ability to consent or affect their judgment. It can be intense like starving for a good meal, but it never goes to the point that they’re willing to choke down rotten food. There’s a limit to the horniness, and consent is taken very seriously.
While an Omega has the power to set off rut in others and be alluring, it only affects those that are receptive to the Omega sexually. Asexuals in this world simply aren’t affected by these supernatural pheromones, or at least not as strongly depending on where they are in the asexual spectrum. Demi-sexuals still need that strong emotional connection before being affected, for example.
An Alpha that is receptive to an Omega and thus affected by their heat has an instinct to submit to the wants of the Omega. If the Alpha wants the Omega and the Omega doesn’t want the Alpha, they won’t be able to bring themselves to do anything except pine for the Omega due to their strong instincts. If an Omega wants an Alpha, but the Alpha doesn’t want the Omega, then the Alpha doesn’t get affected by the Omega at all.
That’s right, I’m leaning in hard on the supernatural angle to ensure that all parties are consenting even when affected by magical horny vibes. While this doesn’t eliminate SA altogether from this world, as scumbags are going to prey on others regardless of their wants, this supernatural horny magic isn’t going to sign off on non-consent in this version of the Omegaverse.
Betas for the most part are immune to these heat/rut pheromone shenanigans and pretty much can just potentially find Alphas, Omegas, or other Betas attractive in a more conventional way. They are also capable of reproduction provided the individual doesn’t have health issues that get in the way of that.
If Alphas have the ability to make Betas instinctively inclined to follow their lead, Omegas have the ability to make Alphas instinctively want to protect them. Even the most feral Alpha has a hard time overcoming their instinct of not wanting to see an Omega harmed.
Going feral is something that only happens to Alphas. Typically this is tied to intense emotions, usually aggression in combat, protectiveness, possessiveness, or even horniness. They might even have more animal/monstrous features as their supernatural nature spikes. Reasoning with an Alpha that’s gone feral is best left to Omegas, a beat down from other Alphas, or heavy dosing of sedatives.
While Alphas are apparent from birth, Omegas are usually only discovered after they have their first heat, or a traumatic event awakens their ability to heal. Since the person’s desires are what cause heat/rut, these states only happen when the person wants to reproduce and in what way they’re capable/wanting to do so. Someone who doesn’t want to produce children won’t experience heat or rut, even if they might experience elevated levels of hormones at times.
What’s the difference between heat/rut and being horny? The desire to make babies. Bo, for example, would be going into rut all the time with how much he wants to make his puppy have his pups. Alphas and Omegas have the potential to be exceedingly horny and affect others through their pheromones without going into rut/heat.
Though rare, Omegas are also capable of siring children and going into rut if they have the right equipment for the job. Likewise, Alphas can birth children if they have a uterus and can go into heat if they want to do so. An individual’s will strongly affects this supernatural state of horniness and their desire to reproduce.
Alpha Joseph Cullman
Now, with the foundation of the Omegaverse we’re working with out of the way, let’s get to the characters we know and love. Many of the broad strokes of the SWWSDJ timeline are the same in this AU, but changing the finer details can craft a very different picture.
Joseph Cullman was born an Alpha, but he struggled with the role. Sure, he could more easily intimidate others, make them submit, but ruling by fear does not earn you love. He was clumsy with his connections with others, showing off his strength and trying to get attention in a desperate bid to be loved.
It’s just fortunate that this troubled Alpha found his fated pair when he was young.
Yes, this AU is mixed with my reincarnation AU, which I talked about in previous posts here and here. Come on, fated pairs? It was practically begging for a reincarnated soulmate storyline!
Mary thought she was a Beta until the trauma of being told that she was going to die before reaching adulthood awakened her healing powers and allowed her to heal her chronic illness, revealing her to be an Omega.
Omegas, being so rare with the power to heal, are exceedingly coveted. Mary’s parents, being narcissists who saw their children as extensions of themselves, were keen to exploit this power for fame, fortune, and acclaim. This made them tighten their grip on Mary, and when they found out an Alpha was sneaking into her bedroom… ho boy they put a stop to that.
Joseph, having Alpha instincts to protect the only person who cared about him, especially since Mary’s Omega nature was affecting them all the more, fought even harder to keep her. This led to an altercation between him and her parents. Instead of something bad happening at Haberdae High, it was his escalating conflict with her parents that led to things breaking down for him.
The fateful incident where everything went wrong involved Joseph losing control of his rage, resulting in him going feral, with Mary being kept from him so he couldn’t calm down until it was too late. This led to a very violent incident that resulted in police involvement. The Phoenix family pressed charges despite Mary’s protests and Joseph, being a minor, was sentenced to juvenile hall.
Joseph wasn’t left unscathed mentally from going feral. He remembered vividly what he did and was horrified by his extreme acts of bloody violence and loss of control. It left him seeing himself in a much more negative light.
It made him feel like a monster.
Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse for Joseph. While he was locked up, the Phoenix family moved away. Whatever reputation he had left in that small town was destroyed, and everyone avoided him. Even his parents grew more distant from him, ashamed and afraid of the monster their Alpha son had become. Teachers and other authority figures scrutinized every move he made, ready to come down at him for any perceived slight, and Haberdae High felt almost as much of a prison as juvenile hall did.
Of course, Joseph ran away when he couldn’t handle it anymore. He also couldn’t let Mary go in spite of everything. He tried living on his own for a while, but loneliness ate away at him more than the hunger he felt while living on the street without a home.
Life for Mary wasn’t sunshine and roses either. Her parents exploited her new healing abilities to line their pockets, having her heal rich investors even when overuse of her powers was damaging to her health. It was almost ironic - her parents used to be so concerned about her health, but now it was like it no longer mattered to them, not when she was finally useful to them. Besides, she would eventually heal herself, so what did it matter that she suffered for a while? She needed to grow up and help out the family, in their opinion, especially after all the trouble she put them through with Joseph.
Ever since Mary’s powers truly awakened, she was increasingly aware of the fact that her parents didn’t truly love her. Being able to detect other peoples’ emotions can let you know when people are faking theirs. Their affectionate displays had strings attached, and their emotional abuse just highlighted the lack of care she could feel so painfully clear with her powers of empathy.
Fortunately, since Joseph is an Alpha, he left a mark on Mary, which allowed him to eventually track her down. It was a shock when she heard a familiar rapping at her window in a place states away from her old home, and then saw a familiar face that she had been aching to see for so long.
Though Mary was aware of the violence Joseph committed while going feral, even being the one who had to heal the damage he left behind with her powers, she still loved him, and she could keenly feel his love for her in a way she didn’t feel from her parents.
Joseph didn’t feel worthy of being with Mary, feeling himself unclean, monstrous, but when he found her, he couldn’t leave her again. He just couldn’t live without his sunshine. He gave in to his weakness once again and asked her to run away with him. They could leave their toxic families behind and just be together. All the adults in their life failed them, and their bond was too strong to want to be separated, even if it meant that they would be struggling on the streets.
Despite the guilt Mary felt for abandoning her family, she agreed to run away with Joseph. However, while Joseph ran away without a plan and only the clothes on his back, Mary didn’t want to be quite so reckless if she could help it. In the middle of the night, she stole money and her parents’ car keys so they could get some distance before selling the car so that the police wouldn’t be able to track them that way. They traveled quite a while even after that, taking on new names to make sure no one would track them down. It was easier for them to disappear in the age before the internet.
Joseph made sure to protect Mary from dangers that come from being homeless and on the run. He was a strong Alpha who was no stranger to getting into fights, and sometimes he had to do things he regretted in order to make sure they were both safe and stayed together. They had enough money to last them while they traveled and put distance between them and anyone who knew them.
Eventually, the two managed to find a place to make a new home. Joseph took the moniker of James, and Mary changed her name to Maria. (Yes, I had to get that Silent Hill 2 reference in.) When introducing themselves to other people, they claimed to already be married, even if they couldn’t be legally. Joseph James got the part of Sunny Day Jack, and things were looking up as the show took off.
It was when James finally felt like he made himself into someone truly worthy of someone as kind and loving as Mary Maria that he wanted to take things further, for them to be a fated pair. Maria had actually been the one to bring up the idea first, and they had attempted it before, but it never successfully formed. It was only when James felt less haunted by the mistakes of his past and happier with the person he had become that he was able to feel worthy enough to become one with his sunshine at last.
The pair were happy. Things weren’t easy, and they had plenty of challenges to face, but they loved each other. They promised each other forever.
Then the Incident of ‘84 happened.
A fated pair has many benefits of their mating, being stronger together and feeling each other’s pain and joys, but unfortunately the downside is that when one dies, the other is quick to follow.
Joseph, James, Sunny Day Jack, [Redacted]... the man known as all these things was sent to a hellish afterlife, deprived of the chance to reincarnate thanks to the wicked machinations of LambsWork Productions and what they did to him. Yes, I’m going with my headcanons that Jack’s fate of being trapped in the tape was by design and not an accident. I mean, I’ve had fun playing with that in other AUs, so why not here too?
Since Mary/Maria wasn’t part of the ritual, she was spared the hellish fate. She was reborn as Alice and the King family made her far happier and feel more loved than the Phoenix family ever did. Still… she felt like something was missing, a longing she could never quite explain. She was born with an unusual intricate birthmark. Some thought that it looked like a mate mark, but that couldn’t be. It was already there on her neck since the day she was born.
Besides, fated pairs are just people who bond for life and entwine their energies together. Soulmates and reincarnation are just silly superstitions made up by romantics…
Right?
A Fated Pair
Alice had a similar childhood as she did in the main universe, meeting Ian in the 1st grade and befriending him. Over time he started having romantic feelings for her, but, unfortunately, she never reciprocated them.
It didn’t feel right to Alice. She loved Ian like a brother, but the idea of romance with him felt… wrong. It almost felt like a betrayal… but of who?
Ian’s upbringing was strict. His absent father was an Alpha who paid child support and wasn’t loyal to his mother, making his mother come down harder on him, especially after learning he was an Alpha too. Even as a child, he was shamed for his desires or standing on his own. She shredded his pride to ribbons, and he could never fully use his powers as an Alpha while living under her roof.
His mother went after him for any relationship Ian had, so it was difficult for him to make friends. Alice stuck with him when others were chased away, and more than once his mother warned Alice to watch out for Ian and his predatory Alpha desires. This was made worse when Ian’s mother found out Alice was an Omega. Ian’s mother immediately branded Alice as a whore who was wired to entice all Alphas into rutting for her all the time.
Needless to say, Ian was a lot happier when he grew up and could go no contact with his mother.
Despite the accusations and harassment, Alice helped Ian break free of his mother’s grip. They eventually moved in together in college, but they weren’t in a relationship, no matter how much Ian wished otherwise. Eventually, she helped encourage him to pursue his dream to become an actor, and he left for a fancy college to help him along the way.
In California, now completely on his own, Ian learned to spread his wings. He was surprised by how many people found him appealing now, both sexually and as a romantic partner, especially as he learned how to assert himself. He started exploring his sexuality for the first time. He had wonderful experiences with multiple partners, but he longed for the security he felt with Alice and held out hope that someday, maybe, she might return his feelings.
Ian wasn’t the only one pining for Alice, even when off at college seeking out his dreams. Shaun fell for Alice when they went to college together. Without a boyfriend to scare him off, he tried to shoot his shot with her… eventually. Poor guy was flustered and fumbling over himself for quite a while, blurting out embarrassing things and accidentally self-sabotaging more than once. Unfortunately, with Alice not feeling that way towards him and his miscommunications, he never even got the chance to be turned down like Ian was before he had to go off to another college as well.
It was after her friends were gone that Alice really started feeling lonely, especially in an apartment meant for two people. She still remained connected to Ian, Shaun, and other friends through phone calls and online communication, but something was missing.
When Alice was around her friends and family every day, she could forget about the strange longing she always felt. When she was alone, it was so pronounced. She took to wandering when not at work, trying to find… something. She didn’t know what. She just… needed to find it. She had to. The world wouldn’t be right until she did.
That was what drew her to the thrift store and a certain video tape. It was compelling in a way that it was almost confusing for her. It was as if this strange old tape filled her with a longing that wouldn’t be satisfied until she took it home with her and watched it.
When Alice played the tape, she found what she was missing for so long.
Sadly, Jack forgot who he was entirely in his 40 years of hell, but a part of him recognized her right away. He didn’t even remember her name, but Alice was his sunshine, he knew it. He knew that he loved her with his whole heart instantly, and longed for her touch in a way that left him weak.
Needless to say, Alice was very confused when she woke up and saw a giant clown in her apartment. However, unlike in Sunshine in Hell, her shock wasn’t as strong. She didn’t retreat from him. There was such a sense of relief and completeness he brought her that reassured her in spite of the surreal situation. It was so strange that she was certain she had to be dreaming. There’s no way this feeling and this beautiful man who made her heart flutter like no one else could was real…
Jack greeted her, all smiles. He was her new best friend forever, and she was the reason why he was there. When he held her hand, he could’ve melted from her warmth, and she never felt so warm and safe from someone’s touch before.
It was just so absurd to Alice. She magically summoned a children’s show clown as her best friend forever? Definitely a dream. Besides, she was sure that she dreamed about this man before. His touch was so familiar, and being with him felt so right. These warm fluttery feelings felt too good and a part of her had been aching for this for so long…
Alice decided to just enjoy the dream for as long as possible.
Jack was startled when Alice suddenly kissed him, but definitely anything but displeased. He returned the kiss with a passion she didn’t expect. She had never actually kissed anyone before, so she was caught off guard when his tongue slipped so easily into her mouth. Still, it was almost the most natural thing in the world to let him in, to twine together with him so intimately and feel their heat and taste meld together. His scent was heady, delicious, familiar…
It wasn’t outright heat and rut since neither of them were thinking of making babies, but their instincts and hormones kicked in. The connection between them made them share and amplify each other’s arousal. Alice never felt this with anyone before and was almost overwhelmed, but there was this familiar security with him that kept urging her along. Jack was almost overwhelmed by all the sensations after going without for so long, but he drank them all in greedily, and her most of all.
There was no phone call to interrupt them. Instincts kicked in and clothes started coming off. The motions were so familiar to both of them, these hot kisses on equally hot skin that tasted so sweet and nostalgic. Consciously they forgot one another when death separated them, but their souls did not forget, and their bodies ached to reconnect after being apart and missing each other for so long.
It was only the discomfort of the lumpy couch that prevented them from having their first time then and there. Alice barely had the sense to direct Jack to her bedroom, and he carried her the entire way, their hearts hammering hard.
In the bedroom, it all suddenly became so much more real to Alice, and she started feeling fears, doubts. Even in this world she experienced a traumatic SA incident as a teen, and she was aware that she was alone and naked, with a half-naked giant looming over her.
Jack was so gentle though, so familiar. He slowed down when he noticed her trepidation. He confessed his love for her, how he was sure that he was waiting for her for so long… and he could feel she felt the same.
“You felt it too, didn’t you?” Jack said, his voice a whisper low and husky from the heat churning between them. “You’ve felt like something… someone was missing for so long… It felt like a piece of you was missing, like you could never be complete without that special someone.”
Alice swallowed hard in a futile attempt to alleviate her dry throat. She stared up into those beautiful dark eyes that ached with a longing that she felt deep down in her soul. He was right… she felt this way for so long…
“Don’t worry,” Jack said soothingly as he leaned in closer, inching them both back towards the pillows. “I’m here now. I’m right here… and now we won’t ever have to feel alone ever again.”
“Jack…,” Alice whispered, rolling his name on her tongue and it tasted so sweet, just like his kisses. She never knew kisses could taste as sweet as the ones Jack gave her. She wanted more, a part of her ached for more, more of this mysterious man who seemed too good to be true.
Jack reached out to touch her cheek, but hesitated as Alice jumped a little. “Is this okay?”
For a moment Alice hesitated, her heart pounding hard enough it echoed in her ears. Then she tentatively reached up to tug off the glove so she could feel his palm against her cheek directly. The touch of his skin was like fire, and it melted away so much of her fear, leaving her once again aching for more. She turned into his hand and lightly pressed her lips against his palm before whispering against his skin. “Yes.”
Was this a mistake? Logic would say so, but Alice had never felt anything so right before. Jack felt like a missing puzzle piece. His lips fit so perfectly slotted with hers, their bodies melded as if they were always meant to be one. She was tentative and uncertain, but she let her instincts guide her to touch him and lean into his touches and kisses that set her skin on fire.
Jack was so gentle, and he took care not to rush her. He savored every touch, every kiss, every moan. He memorized every inch of her body, wanting to etch Alice so deeply into his mind that he would never forget any part of his sunshine ever again. It felt like practically a sin to forget even a second with her, but at least his soul remembered. His hands moved with familiar purpose, finding all the sweet spots that he instinctively knew would make her arch into him and cry out his name so beautifully.
At some point Alice went from reluctant to impatient. She felt so good, and she loved the way Jack moaned when she touched him, how he could whisper such beautiful words of love and praise into her skin. She felt loved in a way that she never experienced before, yet at the same time was all too familiar… and a part of her eagerly anticipated that connection that would allow her to feel him fully, to experience all of his love.
This time it was Jack hesitating, not because he didn’t want to keep going - far from it - but a few exploring fingers between her legs made it quickly apparent that Alice wouldn’t be able to take his cock, and definitely not his knot unless he fully prepared her first. This body of hers had never experienced anything so big inside before, and he had to take extra care to stretch her out and get her ready.
Those big, thick fingers of his brought Alice to orgasm more than once, and eventually her frustration was too much. She needed Jack inside her, her body practically screaming for it. “Please,” she begged, flushed and embarrassed but her own neediness. “Please, Jack… I need you.”
Jack felt his heart squeeze at that plea and the desperate look in his sunshine’s unforgettable blue eyes. “Alice…” He removed his fingers, coated in her slick, and couldn’t help but taste her. Sweet and sticky, and the way she blushed at the sight made him feel a little greedy. “Alice… I love you so much.” A part of him was fit to burst, aching for her, but he needed just one more thing. “Can I ask you for something first?”
“What?” Alice asked between breathless pants. She spread her legs open wide for him, more than ready. She felt practically ready to do anything for him in that moment.
“Can you say it?” Jack whispered, desperation of his own creeping into his voice. “Can you tell me that you love me, just so I know for sure?”
Alice felt her pulse spike at the request, and that little voice at the back of her mind reminded her that what she was doing was crazy, but it lacked any fire and soon was lost under the fluttering warmth that filled her, that Jack gave her.
It was crazy, but so right. Her instincts were absolutely certain of that fact, and in that moment all Alice could think about was how much she needed Jack.
“I… I love you, Jack,” Alice whispered, the words coming out soft but far more easily than she ever expected. Once the words left her lips, the more right they felt. The next time she spoke her words came out more clearly, more certain. “I love you, Jack.”
Jack practically melted, those words setting him free in a way he had been denied for 40 long years. He couldn’t hold back any longer. His lips found hers again, and his hips moved with purpose. She moaned what sounded like his name against his lips, which acted as a muffler as he eased himself inside her nice and slow.
Alice was expecting Jack to be big - his cock had been so hard, hard, and heavy in her hands - but he felt even larger inside of her, filling her more than she thought possible. Vaguely she remembered her first time should be painful, but there was only a delicious stretch that bordered on pain, but was a glorious ache that left her feeling so full. She clung to her mate, digging her fingers into his back as he bottomed out inside her, and they finally became one after being incomplete for so, so long.
“Oh… oh God,” Jack shuddered. Memories flickered back of moments like these - from a clumsy but sweet first time to countless unions that came so expertly - and all the love and pleasure crashed into him. It was so much after an eternity without any sensation but a numb coldness. It took all his willpower to keep still and make sure that Alice was comfortable. He would never forgive himself if he made her feel any pain.  “Oh my God…” He had to take a moment to look into her eyes again, finally feeling truly whole again.  “Alice… You feel so amazing from just this.”
“J-Jack…” Alice panted. She fumbled for words, overcome with sensations and emotions that felt more powerful than anything else in the world. Despite his size, Jack just fit just right. Everything was so intense and overwhelming, yet nothing else in the world ever felt as right as this. She needed more. “Ple-please…”
Jack bent down to kiss her forehead, gently smoothing out the slight ridges there. “I’m going to move now.” He showed her a smile as dazzling as the sun. “I’m going to fill you with my love.”
Alice let out a shuddering cry as she felt Jack start to move his hips. He drew back so far that a part of her felt an irrational panic that he was going to pull out, but those fears were quickly alleviated as he brought their hips together again.
It was a slow and steady rhythm to start. Jack was determined to make sure that Alice never experienced even a second of pain, and the noises she made let him know just how good a job he was doing. He could feel the pleasure he brought her echo through his body, and his body’s pleasure resonated into hers the same way. They were one, moving together with practiced ease that came so naturally to the fated pair.
It was Alice who urged Jack to go faster by digging her heels into his backside, her legs wrapped around his hips. She couldn’t control the tempo from this position, but she could cling to him tight and make her needs known. “Mmm… more please! Jack please!”
“As you wish, sunshine,” Jack cooed before capturing that begging mouth of hers in another hot kiss. “I’ll give it all to you, all of my love.” He relished the cry she let out as he started to go faster, harder, and the pleasure made his head spin. His eyes rolled upwards, and for a moment he was sure he had gone to heaven as these powerful feelings of love washed over him. “Oh Alice!”
His praise and words of love were addicting, and Alice couldn’t get enough. She could feel his love surrounding her, inside her. The way Jack kept cooing and encouraging her drove her crazy, and words of love spilled from her lips in return, broken up by ragged breaths and cries of pleasure as he drove himself into her harder, faster.
Alice barely registered when their position changed, her legs bent back in his firm grip, but she felt just how much deeper he could thrust himself inside her, making her see stars.
The world disappeared, and nothing mattered but this desperate hunger they had for each other that bordered on animalistic. Their instincts howled for one another and the love they shared. Their bodies collided and meshed together, hot and sweaty. The air was thick and heavy with heat and the perfume of pheromones that left them both lightheaded and aching with need.
Jack managed to keep his senses enough to keep whispering words of love and praise for his irreplaceable mate, but Alice could barely do more than call out his name between animal cries of pleasure.
The pleasure continued to build, and before they reached that glorious crest, Jack bent down, his mouth seeking out her neck. His fangs grazed across that familiar mark he created a lifetime ago then sank in, renewing their sacred vow that they would love each other forever.
The world went completely white and Alice could only scream his name as she clung to Jack, her body convulsing around him with pleasure she didn’t think possible. She didn’t even notice when she was able to take his knot, but she could feel it pulsing inside her along with the rest of his cock as he came. He flooded her insides with warmth, and she relished in the heat pooling in her belly.
As the tide of pleasure slowly started to recede, Jack drew away from her neck and licked his lips. His sunshine’s blood was just as sweet as he remembered, and the mark glowed with a gentle, familiar light, just like the day he first made it. Alice moved in closer as he drew back, her instincts crying out for him, and he moaned as she sunk her teeth into the mark she left on him so long ago, a mate mark identical to hers.
The marking ritual wasn’t necessary to repeat, but it was like a renewal of their vows, of the promise that nothing, not even death, would keep them apart. Now, as the pair slid into a gentle afterglow, they brought their red stained lips together in a kiss that sealed them together forever.
After the Afterglow
Of course, eventually Alice is going to be aware that what she just did with Jack is very serious. There’s going to be fears and uncertainty even if a part of her is feeling so content with him. When it’s just the two of them, it’s so easy to fall into him, to give in to her instincts and love him just as completely as he loves her. His love is so addicting, so familiar and safe. It’s hard to have to face reality when this dream come true is so wonderful. A part of her is no longer missing anymore, and she can’t imagine living without him.
Since I suspect that MC’s love and closeness with Jack will allow him to be more real the more strongly they feel it, he’s going to be a lot more real in this AU a lot more quickly. Being a fated pair is a magical bond that can’t be broken. Add it and the general supernatural nature of this world, and Jack has a much stronger hold on reality thanks to Alice, especially after they share so much love as soon as he appears.
This means Jack doesn’t just appear in mirrors and in cameras, but also in front of other people. He doesn’t experience the world as a ghost, though he still has to contend with just suddenly appearing out of nowhere with no ID and all the other issues that come with suddenly existing in the world again.
However, just because Jack is more real doesn’t mean that he’s human again. He’s still a very supernatural being in a world full of people who have sharp animal instincts. Alphas like Ian, Shaun, and Nick can sense that something is wrong with Sunny Day Jack despite his bright and shiny smile. This is something these three are more sensitive to due to their attraction towards Alice and their Alpha instincts telling them to protect the Omega they care for.
Since Alphas have better senses to a supernatural degree, maybe they smell something… off about Jack, see something unnatural about him. Perhaps he’s a bit… staticy? He’s not simply another Alpha to them, he’s something not right. He’s uncanny… and dangerous.
And, much to these Alphas’ concern, Alice doesn’t see that at all. She has no sense of the danger Jack poses. All she sees when she looks at Jack is the man who she loves with all her heart, who loves her just as much.
Will Shaun, Nick, or Ian manage to shine a light on this shady clown and expose what’s wrong with him, or will their fears be proven to be unfounded? Will these Alphas clash with claws and fangs or worse? Will Jack have to go to extremes to make sure no one takes his sunshine away from him ever again? He’s gone feral before because of the fear of losing her, and it’s pretty common for Alphas to clash in this world after all, especially when it’s to protect someone they love.
Good thing Omegas have the power to heal when Alphas are ready and willing to tear into each other, but hopefully Alice won’t have to heal the wounds left behind from her lover’s feral frenzy like she did back when her name was Mary. Jack certainly doesn’t need more sins weighing down his soul when he’s finally clean now. Fortunately Omegas have a knack of keeping Alphas from losing control when they’re around… at least, unless they want them to lose control during sexy times.
Wow, this ramble went on a lot longer than I expected. I guess that’s what happens when I need to go into full-blown world building, huh? Anyway, I hope you enjoy my take on Omegaverse with the SDJ cast, and my spicy bit of writing between Jack and Alice! Maybe I’ll dip into this AU again sometime.

My thoughts on IY ships:
Sesskik: OTP. objectively the best ship. best themes. Go read The Rift Between Auras. It also has the best art and the best fandom.
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13074118/1/The-Rift-Between-Auras
KogKag: Personal favorite. Love the pure unadulterated passion of it. And theres lots of good content on it. And admittedly….I think it's the sexiest relationship.
InuKag: Wonderful ship, Canon, good, nothing really to say.
MirSan EDIT nope, screw this ship, Inusan is best!: best. It makes sense. I always have some misgivings (Sango deserves better after the shit she’s been through, and Miroku’s antics get unfunny at times, and I like strong women), it sometimes feels a bit disrespectful. But I admit there's a genuine bond; they’re a decent couple. Heck, even the more sexist elements make sense. It’s feudal Japan, literally, the 1500’s even if it’s a fantasy setting. The fact they have 3 kids immediately makes sense. Not bad, but I feel like she deserves better.
EDIT: and it doesn't help that the author basically locked in mirsan from the start with not even the slightest consideration for other possibilities. It's basically a forced ship, for good or bad.
Inusan: UPDATE: I am really starting to like this ship, it suffers from having very little content, but what does exist is intriuging, and its starting grow on me. I would love to see it explored more. Its definitely moved up to one of my top ships.
InuKik: really good ship, it's deep and complex, even in canon, but personally I find it a really good pair with KogKag. Two pairs where everyone is happy!
Sesskagu: a spicy couple, the most common theme being they end up being a sassy couple of assholes, revelling in each other’s evil, but with the undertone of a deeper emotional bond.
Sesskag: I don't like it. one of the more popular ships that I actually have genuine grips with. I can’t get aboard, I don’t like it. They don’t fit well. And I get the feeling that it’s the “sesshomaru fangirl-self-insert ship”. The “badass guy going with the bubbly semi-normal girl.” They don't fit. It almost feels a bit....predatory?
Koh/rin: A really cute relationship, childhood friends.
KagSan: Love their interaction they’re really good friends, and I would love to see more interactions between them. But taking it to the romantic level also is would be great.
Kagkik: would have loved to see more interactions between them, there’s so much chemistry. I like it both as friends and even romantic partners. I just want them both to be happy and get past their angst and issues.
KaguKik: I can definitely see the dynamic, and this one would be 90% romantic. Two lost souls finding a bond with each other.
EDIT: a few extras.
AyaKag: makes no sense, but there's one tumblr Artist that makes really cute art of it. Thumbs up.
InuKog: I can respect it. full disclosure, I'm a guy, so I never was into M/M ships, but I can respect it, probably the most reasonable M/M ship.
Naraku X anymone: nah,, Naraku is "pathetic evil", he's the type that you can't even like for being a "dark badass". He's just an all-around looser, he's literally an Incel. So I don't care for it, but whatever floats your boat.
InuSess: just.....why? And all the content involves some form abuse/rape/nasty stuff.
Sessr*n: No.
