Anyway. I wouldn't normally share an edit of someone else's art like this – and frankly, I make wallpaper edits for myself constantly – but I'm actually kind of proud of how this turned out. So, here it is. I worked way too hard on this terrible edit and for far too long. But, you know what? Pili and Mili are worth it. 💚

Yes, I made a clean wallpaper out of a lewd drawing. Are you that surprised?

For those in the know: yes, these are the same two girls from an infamous little beat'em-up game. To the best of my knowledge, the game is only slightly related to neoeclipse's own Project R, uh, project; they share a lot of the same characters, but the stories are completely different. For one, Project R seems to focus more on these girls' boss, Dr. Naomi Akari. But, I digress.

The outfits that I slapped on the girls are based on some presumably very old art that I found on a random wiki. It kinda makes sense that if they shear their wool, they'd want to wear something warm like a woolen sweater-vest. They're missing their gloves, but eh, they're keepin' it casual, right now. I also decided to give them color-coded glasses from one of their concept images. I just thought it was cute. As for the shoes? Various images (that I can't link here) show them wearing slip-on shoes – sometimes with socks, sometimes not. I gave them socks, this time.

My edits don't quite match neoeclipse's art 1-for-1, but I think they're close enough. S'good enough for me, anyway.

Favorite words: welsh edition

1. Caer- fortress- the first word you learn always has a special place in your heart. This was my first word in welsh.

2. Iawn-very- it palatalizes the word in front of it which is so fun. Da iawn is so fun to say. Fawr iawn. Hir iawn. Stormus iawn. Gwen iawn. You can’t go wrong.

3. Pili pala-butterfly- guys this is so cute it’s like butter fly. Yr pili pala? A butter fly? Wonderful. I did some research this word is probably a Latin borrowing.

4. Llyfrgell-library- this is so fun to say thats it.

5. Nghariad- lover, nasally mutated- this is the most wonderful word for a significant other it’s got everything. Possessive mutation. Comes from caru which is already one of my favorite words since it’s devoid from the Latin and Greek expectations of love words. Peredurs love is named the derivation of this in the mabinogi. It sounds fun. 10/10

6. Wledic- lord- this just comes up a lot in Middle Welsh texts. And I like it it sounds like lord so it’s easy for me to recognize and it also shows up as a descriptor in the triads and that’s fun.

7. Cerddoriath-music- find a prettier word for music I dare you. You can’t.

8. Pederfynu- decide- dude this one just shows up in o mi awn mi am dro by fleur de llys and I like that song a lot.

9. Cofia- remember- mostly this one has beautiful mutations. I love nghofia. Beautiful. Gofia? Graceful and wonderful. Chofia? She is my wife.

10. Goch- red, softly mutated- i am an anomaly in that i think the ch sound is so very very pretty. Also i like the way the coch verse sounds in cyfrif’r geifr.

霹雳 or Pili is a Taiwanese glove puppet drama that’s been airing since the 1980s and currently there are over a thousand episodes. The plot varies across its many seasons but it’s basically about martial arts, sword fighting and lots of drama between the many many characters of the show. (It's not stop-motion btw, it's filmed live with the puppets)

There’s always some bad guys or groups stirring up trouble. But bad or good the characters always look damn good I mean...

Anyway its been a special interest of mine since I was about 16 Cartoon Network aired a horribly edited dubbed version of it before quickly pulling the plug on it (Wulin Warriors… only look it up if you want to cringe)

As much as I love the series it's rather hard for people to get into if you don't know Chinese. BUT if you are interested you have some options!

Thunderbolt Fantasy:

It's not Pili but a new series, a collab between Pili, Nitroplus, and Good Smile. If you like anime you'll love this! There are 3 seasons, 2 movies, and season 4 is in production I believe. You can find it on crunchyroll or any site that uploads anime.

Pili Fantasy: War of Dragons:

A remake of an early Pili series made to appeal to a global audience. It was on netflix, which was a dream come true for me.

Literally.

But since all my dreams are meant to die, netflix removed after a couple years. There's no legal way to watch the subbed version, but there are other ways if you know what I mean 🏴‍☠️

There's another 2 seasons of Pili Fantasy but they are sadly not subbed.

Lastly Studio886 on youtube is currently posting subbed episodes of older Pili series. I will post them in chronological order

Happy 10th Birthday to Kingdom Hearts X [chi] !

Ten years of cryptic mysteries, ten years of beautiful sprite work, ten years of fun with other players across the world and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. The choice of the character’s gears lies in my desire for a keykid version of Sephiroth’s KH outfit and thus I picked Cloud to match.

Kingdom Hearts X Worlds Revamp, my true anniversary project, remains in progress. As of the Player slots raffle in the story previews fake screenshots, it will take place by late September at most. More details on the submission rules about this will be told around that time.

Cloud’s outfit parts aside from the chest  piece, the Chirithy plush and Sephiroth’s wing can be found on the Roboloid KHUX assets website. I’m eternally grateful for its existence.

Hello there! It’s been about four months since I promised to update this story. And it’s been just as long any story for that matter. Yeesh.

So, to give a TL;DR about why I’ve been gone and what took this chapter so long: my mom got into a car accident on like day before I was going to upload this, and while she was fine, dealing with insurance to cover the accident has been a nightmare. I had to take more shifts at my job and work more hours to cover the bills while dealing with them, but, eventually, I got them to fork over the money.

After like three months of that, I started editing the draft for this chapter, and there were certain things I didn’t like, and certain plot points I wanted to change, which led to a massive rehaul of certain scenes here. And then like in the second week of  November, I got a really bad flu (surprisingly not COVID) that left me feeling like crap for the rest of the month, especially since I couldn’t take that many days of work, so I had to work while sick.

And this was all on top of dealing with the fact that the one year anniversary of my best friends death came and went, reminding me she isn't hear, and dealing with all the grief that brings.

So, that’s what I’ve been up to these last few months.  And yes, that was the summarized version.

I’m really sorry for the delay. And I’m afraid I have some more bad news: because of how busy I’ve gotten at my job, I’m gonna have to move this story to a monthly release. Sorry, but I don’t want to sacrifice the quality of this story by giving out incomplete works just to meet a deadline that I can push back.

But anyway, I do hope this chapter was worth the wait. It’s quite long (over 21,000 words, the longest chapter to date!), and there was a lot of talking here, but trust me when I say there were certain moments here that heavily foreshadow key plot points for later down the line. Also, I did my best to make the dialogue, especially between the red team and Ursula, feel authentic to them as characters,  as well as doing the emotional moments here justice, and I hope that it made for an enjoyable read. And now, I’m gonna work on the next chapter and try to get it out by January 2nd!

Tey and Pili in Bogotá, Colombia; me in Brighton, UK; Juan, translating, from North Carolina, USA. I drew Tey and Pili’s portrait via Zoom a few weeks ago for my #NickDrawsNationals pandemic art project. It took me a while to edit the story of our meeting – and post this – due to some cultural, personal and linguistic misunderstandings. Pili patiently provided edits and corrections. I wish I spoke Spanish! I like this drawing. It feels more cartoon-like and impressionist than usual, perhaps because it was hard drawing my constantly moving sitters while chatting. They were busy crafting throughout our encounter: Tey with his poporo, Pili finger-knitting a bag and lookaftering their son. I added Juan (in the lower Zoom selfie window) after the session finished. He was replaced as translator in the latter part of the meeting by another friend, Paola in north Wales. She was going to bed at the time (it was late!) so didn’t have her video camera on! Thanks very much to both of them for interpreting for me. Right… now I only have Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname to draw in South America.
