By Jamieson, Fausset and Brown A talebearer [Hebrew, one walking as a detractor, raakiyl (H7400)] reveals secrets. The association of the verb walking with detractor, literally, a merchant, is due to the fact that the detractor goes about like a trafficker, carrying the wares of scandal, gathered from various quarters, and circulating them far and wide (Jeremiah 6:28, "Walking with slanders;" Leviticus 19:16. "Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people;" 1 Peter 2:1; James 4:11). In this case it aggravates the offense that what the talebearer circulates was a 'secret' committed to him in confidence. But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter - answering to "a man of understanding holdeth his peace" (Proverbs 11:12). "He that is of a faithful spirit" - opposed to "a talebearer;" one "faithful" to his premise of secrecy given to his friend. #Proverbs11 #ServingJesusChrist #Talebearers https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwph24lF-J9/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10fmj3wwv5w86
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. #proverbs11:30 #photooftheday #yourdailydose #mydailydose #photography #oregon #lake #missingoregon #thankyoujah #lifeisgoodeveryday #Godisgreat #withoutJahnothing (at Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/ocelotl7/p/BvKdsSvgWd5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1t0gc6e7fa7vl
24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. 25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. 26 People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell. 27 Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it. 28 Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
Think for a minute about the different life trajectories of Jesus and Satan. Jesus, who died an awful death without just cause, did not remain in the grave. Three days later, he overcame death and lives today, and will reign forever over all. Satan, on the other hand, only can pretend to be an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). He is false advertising. He pretends to be able to give people the best there is to offer, but instead he takes the best from them. Isaiah 14 speaks of Satan, before his fall, as being the “Morning Star” who decided that he wanted to shine in glory greater than God. He wanted to hoard glory for himself. God, on the other hand, shares glory amongst Himself, as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When One is glorified, All are glorified. And they share that glory with those who believe in the Son. So, in short, Satan’s goal is to try and take glory from you by pretending to give you something great, but instead pulling you into his web of destruction and hopelessness. Jesus, on the other hand, died to bring glory to the Father and to give you a way into sharing in that glory. We read in 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14: “We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” God’s nature is one of generosity. And those who follow Him will prosper and enjoy His glory with Him. Satan’s nature is to seek glory for himself, and in so doing, he destroys any good that would come to those who walk in his paths. Being generous is a way that you can share in the glory of our God. Hoarding things for yourself is an evil that always will end badly. Generosity is a grace that God desires to pour into your heart so that you can be one step closer to following in His likeness, for He is generous.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your generous spirit. Thank you for allowing me to share in the glory of your Son. Help me to follow in your way and to give freely of myself in all situations. Amen.
Don’t go through things alone. Seek help if you need help. It’s okay to feel like you cannot do things alone. God is with you and He put people around you to support you and help you.
