Imagine a bustling marketplace in ancient Rome. Merchants hawk their wares, toga-clad citizens rush about, and the aroma of freshly baked bread fills the air. But amidst the familiar chaos, whispers of a different belief ripple through the crowds. This is the story of Christianity in the Roman Empire, a tale of resilience, transformation, and the quiet revolution of a faith that rose from the shadows to become the official religion of a mighty empire...

#quietrev #quietrevolution #opoderdosquietos #livro #adolescentes #timidez #introvertidos #susancain https://www.instagram.com/p/CVP3W4mFiFT/?utm_medium=tumblr

We are more than a brand. "The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can't be any large-scale revolution until there's a personal revolution, on an individual level. It's got to happen inside first." Jim MORRISON We have to first change ourselves, then impact that change on others. Its a quiet revolution. At Revolution Clothing we will promote that change in ourselves and in everyone that joins us. No hate. 21. Drain I’m a day behind on drawings now, so bear with me while I catch up. Alternate title for this one, “Introvert’s Life.” I had a whole big concept for this comic with multiple panels, but I narrowed it down to just 2 and even then I could barely do that lol, I don’t know how cartoonists can do it. Basically, I love the work I do and the people I work with but there is a reason I chose a career where I sit behind a computer all day. Too much human interaction and my batteries are pretty drained. Hanging out at home reading, watching YouTube or playing games is where I can recharge. But believe it or not I’ve made progress with my social anxiety over the last 10 years. There was a point where I used to agonize over ordering fast food... nowadays there’s an app for that 😂 (Normally I would have trashed this drawing and redone it because there are so many problems, but after sitting in traffic for almost 3 hours again tonight I think this will have to be good enough for... yesterday lol. FM620... never again... except until tomorrow) #inktober #inktober2018 #drain #introvert #introvertproblems #introvertlife #relatable #quietrevolution https://www.instagram.com/p/BpQk5DhgK_V/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1s2q9o9xit2kz

Quiet in the Workplace
Tumblr media
By Joe Moreland
According to the Center for Applications of Psychological Type, introverts make up anywhere from 47-55% of the population in the U.S.  Yet, according to many, almost all of our interviewing processes and workplace incentives are modeled around the idea of appealing to extroverts. Is it possible that our methods of recruiting, interviewing and workplace practices are actually driving away a significant segment of our workforce?  1
Job descriptions frequently contain phrases like outgoing, people-person, high-energy and upbeat. To introverts these often appear as code words for “extroverts wanted.” At the very least, many candidates are liable to perceive you as an employer that will ask them to behave socially in ways that do not come easily to them.
Introverts may be more attracted to jobs that contain phrases like smart, caring, patient, and knowledgeable. These are very desirable traits that also won’t dissuade any extroverted candidates. Introverted candidates can be (and often are) very sociable, but they are also very smart and have spent a lifetime with people trying to fit their square peg introvert personality into the round hole of extroversion.  This has likely made them cautious when it comes to certain buzz-words and, in today’s employment market, they can afford to just avoid any jobs that raise alarms.
If you experience higher turnover than you’d like, it could be that your current workplace environment is more conducive to extroverts than introverts. Do you have everyone working in an open floor plan? Do you play loud music in the background? Do you ring a bell every time there is a sale? Introverts can endure these things to a point, but, make no mistake, it drains them of their energy.
Psychology Today provides some tips for introverts to survive in the workplace, but this same article can be used to help employers figure out the kinds of situations that will drive introverts away. This includes things like putting them on the spot by demanding a solution from them without giving them time to consider a problem; or rewarding loud and boastful behavior while penalizing quiet, more reserved conduct.2
youtube
Susan Cain, bestselling author of “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking,” emphasizes that, contrary to popular perception, introverts are not any more shy than extroverts. They also do not lack confidence in themselves at a higher rate than extroverts. They just don’t display it as openly as their extroverted co-workers.3
Lillian Cunningham, former editor of the Washington Post’s “On Leadership” section, had this to say on how modern workplaces put introverts at a disadvantage:
“We live with this value system that I call the new groupthink, which holds that creativity and productivity come from a very gregarious place. When we want people to come up with a new idea, we tend to call a meeting. But again, this is especially bad for introverts, because it’s not the way introverts like to be creative. They tend to prefer to go off by themselves to think, rather than thinking out loud.” 4
Not sure how to effectively relate to introverts in your hiring process or in your workplace? Here are a few suggestions:
Don’t expect introverts to sell themselves too much. It’s not that they don’t care about getting the job; it’s more that they are more critical of themselves than anyone else.
Don’t expect a lot of small talk. Introverts can come across as being rude, but what they actually are is blunt. They will typically answer questions directly and succinctly.
Be sure to listen. While introverted candidates and employees will likely give you thoughtful and insightful answers; they may not feel inclined to repeat themselves.
There are lots of resources available online to read up on how you can connect with introverts. Gather your recruiting team leaders and consider how you can do a better job of attracting and retaining this significant portion of the workforce.

Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking. An evocative and compelling start of a revolution to unlock the power and understanding of introverts.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SUMMARY At least one-third to one-half of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking, reading to socializing, and working on their own to working in teams. Many of society’s great contributors are introverts: Rosa Parks, Gandhi, Chopin, Theo Geisel, Warren Buffett, Steve Wozniak and Eleanor Rosevelt. In QUIET, Susan Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue the traits and capability of introverts and she shows us how much we lose in doing so. She offers advice to introverts and urges changes in the workplace, in schools and in parenting.
“The secret to life is to put yourself in the right lighting. For some it’s a Broadway spotlight; for others, a lamp lit desk.
REVIEW What if everyone was an extrovert? According to composer Allen Shawn “A species in which everyone was General Patton would not succeed, anymore than would a race in which everyone was Vincent Van Gogh.” Introverts are needed for their creativity, careful analysis and thoughtfulness. Susan Cain does a superb job at identifying the strengths and weakness of both introverts and extroverts.
There were several things I liked about this smartly structured and thought-provoking book. Cain provides a clear explanation of the societal benefits of introverts with real world examples throughout history. QUIET is weighted with research in biology, psychology, and neuroscience demonstrating the value of introverts.
Of particular interest were Cain’s chapters on extroverts who are the parents of introverts, and the issue of schools and classes being designed in such a way that favors extroverts. Having raised a introverted son, I can certainly attest to the exhaustion my son felt after a day at school. QUIET is essential reading for introverts, parents of introverts, and spouses of introverts. It should also be read by teachers, counselors, and employers, so just about everyone! This is a worthy addition to any library.
Author Susan Cain Went to Princeton University and Harvard Law School. She is an introvert who practiced law for seven years before becoming a writer. she is cofounder of Quiet Revolution and has also written Quiet Power; The Secret Strength of Introverts. QUIET has been awarded the Guardian First Book Award for Long List (2012), Andrew Carnegie Medal for Nonfiction (Shortlist) (2015), Goodreads Choice Award for Best Nonfiction (2012). Check out her TED talk: The Power of Introverts. Publisher Crown Publisher Publication Date January 24, 2012
“There is zero correlation between being the best talker and having the best ideas.”
BlueStocking Book Club Reviews QUIET was the June 2018 selection for the BlueStocking Book Club. Here are some thoughts and opinions from a few of the members:
“The book was engaging, thought-provoking, and well-researched. QUIET not only gave me some valuable insights into myself, it also helped me better understand some of my very favorite introverts AND extroverts, including my husband, son, and close friends.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ D.D.G.
“Insightful analysis of interactional styles. A must read for teachers!” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A.R.
“I thought the book was well researched, interesting and well written. It’s obvious that the author cares very much for the subject. She uses good examples from her own experiences and mentions numerous research studies and results.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A.M.
“A talented and well researched author who explains the special gifts of introverts, who comprise one-third to one-half of the population. Cain further describes how introverts and extroverts compliment each other and make powerful relationships and work teams.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ M.H.
