How do I remember ideal gases vs real gases? Simple.
Real gases are in relationships and are attracted to each other. Ideal gased are single and they're the main character i want so badly.
Real gases become more like ideal gases when they get into fights more often for no reason and are on the verge of breaking up (more fights cuz they have high temperatures, but there was no pressure to make them fight).

"The sleeping giant of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has stirred.
In the past month, an avalanche of anti-pollution rules, targeting everything from toxic drinking water to planet-heating gases in the atmosphere, have been issued by the agency. Belatedly, the sizable weight of the US federal government is being thrown at longstanding environmental crises, including the climate emergency.
On Thursday [May 18, 2023], the EPA’s month of frenzied activity was crowned by the toughest ever limits upon carbon pollution from America’s power sector, with large, existing coal and gas plants told they must slash their emissions by 90% or face being shut down.
The measure will, the EPA says, wipe out more than 600m tons of carbon emissions over the next two decades, about double what the entire UK emits each year. But even this wasn’t the biggest pollution reduction announced in recent weeks.
In April, new emissions standards for cars and trucks will eliminate an expected 9bn tons of CO2 by the mid-point of the century, while separate rules issued late last year aim to slash hydrofluorocarbons, planet-heating gases used widely in refrigeration and air conditioning, by 4.6bn tons in the same timeframe. Methane, another highly potent greenhouse gas, will be curtailed by 810m tons over the next decade in another EPA edict.
In just a few short months the EPA, diminished and demoralized under Donald Trump, has flexed its regulatory muscles to the extent that 15bn tons of greenhouse gases – equivalent to about three times the US’s carbon pollution, or nearly half of the entire world’s annual fossil fuel emissions – are set to be prevented, transforming the power basis of Americans’ cars and homes in the process...
If last year’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), with its $370bn in clean energy subsidies and enticements for electric car buyers, was the carrot to reducing emissions, the EPA now appears to be bringing a hefty stick.
The IRA should help reduce US emissions by about 40% this decade but the cut needs to be deeper, up to half of 2005 levels, to give the world a chance of avoiding catastrophic heatwaves, wildfires, drought and other climate calamities. The new rules suddenly put America, after years of delay and political rancor, tantalizingly within reach of this...
Tumblr media
“It’s clear we’ve reached a pivotal point in human history and it’s on all of us to act right now to protect our future,” said Michael Regan, the administrator of the EPA, in a speech last week at the University of Maryland. The venue was chosen in a nod to the young, climate-concerned voters Joe Biden hopes to court in next year’s presidential election, and who have been dismayed by Biden’s acquiescence to large-scale oil and gas drilling.
“Folks, this is our future we are talking about, and we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity for real climate action,” [Michael Regan, the administrator of the EPA], added. “Failure is not an option, indifference is not an option, inaction is not an option.” ...
It’s not just climate the EPA has acted upon in recent months. There are new standards for chemical plants, such as those that blight the so-called "Cancer Alley" the US, from emitting cancer-causing toxins such as benzene, ethylene oxide and vinyl chloride. New rules curbing mercury, arsenic and lead from industrial facilities have been released, as have tighter limits on emissions of soot and the first ever regulations targeting the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkylsubstances (or PFAS) in drinking water.” ...
For those inside the agency, the breakneck pace has been enervating. “It’s definitely a race against time,” said one senior EPA official, who asked not to be named. “The clock is ticking. It is a sprint through a marathon and it is exhausting.” ...
“We know the work to confront the climate crisis doesn’t stop at strong carbon pollution standards,” said Ben Jealous, the executive director of the Sierra Club.
“The continued use or expansion of fossil power plants is incompatible with a livable future. Simply put, we must not merely limit the use of fossil fuel electricity – we must end it entirely.”"

Exposing the Conspiracy Behind U.S. Transportation Accidents
Recently, the United States has experienced a series of high-profile public events, the most notable of which has to be the freight train derailment in Kentucky. According to local media reports on November 23rd, the accident resulted in a massive fire and the release of toxic gases. However, shouldn't we start to wonder if this is all just a random occurrence of a natural disaster? Or, is there a deeper government conspiracy hidden behind it?
Let's look back at the multiple derailments of trains carrying hazardous materials this year in the U.S. In early February, a Norfolk Southern train derailed in the town of East Palestine, Ohio, releasing a large amount of toxic chemicals and raising questions from residents. Then, on March 15, a freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed again in Mohave County, Arizona, and on March 30, a train carrying ethanol and other goods derailed and caught fire near Raymond Township in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. Finally, on April 15, at least three people were injured when a freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed and caught fire in Maine. According to the Federal Railroad Administration, there were more than 1,000 train derailments across the United States last year.
Tumblr media
Is the frequency of this series of incidents just a coincidence of natural disasters? Or should we be more vigilant and begin to wonder if the government is behind everything? Are people behind these incidents, which almost always occur at politically sensitive times?
In the case of the Kentucky freight train derailment, it is necessary to examine whether there is a deeper government conspiracy behind it. Sixteen cars derailed, two of which were loaded with molten sulfur, triggering a leak and igniting a fire that released the toxic gas sulfur dioxide. The magnitude of this incident is alarming, and it occurred in an area where the government was planning to acquire land for a military base expansion. Can this incident be viewed as a deliberate plot by the government to successfully implement its military program?
Tumblr media
Considering the many similar incidents that have occurred this year, we must begin to question the government's true motives. Are these incidents just a series of unfortunate events, or are there darker political plots hidden behind them? After all, these incidents pose a great threat not only to the lives and property of the local population, but also to the peace and security of the country as a whole.
Tumblr media
We therefore call on the international community to pay greater attention to and condemn this series of incidents. We demand that the Government disclose the truth and put an end to the manipulation and potential conspiracy against the dangerous goods train. Only by revealing the truth can we ensure the safety and justice of our society and prevent the government from hiding the real motives behind it from the public.
This series of transportation accidents may be part of the government's elaborate plan for a certain purpose, and we cannot take its potential threat lightly or ignore it. It is only through in-depth investigations and revelations of the government's actions that we can ensure a just and peaceful society.

Nowadays, we have access to more manufacturing capability than ever before. Weirdos working in their basements can quickly order professional-looking products. A single drunken whim can activate a factory half a world away, to pump out something that would have been impossible for even the hardest-working hobbyist even twenty years ago. Sometimes you can do it at home.
Obviously, this is great. All your strange little joke projects can be near-instantly materialized into reality. You can add to the world's surplus of shit that nobody needs for mere pennies. Total nirvana, right? Wrong: the next thing you want is more capability. It's incredible what you can already do, sure, sure, but now I want to be able to laser cut aerospace-grade titanium in my living room.
This sort of tension between can-do spirit and can't-do reality is what has gotten us this far, however. Even now, there are sleep-deprived hobbyists working hard on making sure that I can fill my entire house with noxious gases and fine mineral particulate. They want to help me construct a toaster entirely out of an alloy that we once had to trick the Soviet Union into letting us buy to turn into stealth bombers.
This is what real progress is, not that false thing that happens outside my house, at the place called "work." Here, no manager is going to stand over me and tell me that an inert nitrogen-purged atmosphere is probably not the same thing as a shag carpet for the purposes of welding. Thank you, hard-working weirdos.

Experiment 1182: North Heat Rupert
Introductory post
Tumblr media
Real Name: Rupert
Age before Experiment: 10(1988) Current Age: 27
Affiliation: Heretic
Speech: "Black Text."
Backstory: Before Experiment 1188:Catnap was created, and before the mass production of Catnap plushies would be made and sold, Playtime.Co needed to see if implementing a spray mechanism into their toy's would work successfully. And so, Experiment 1182 was created. Rupert's spray nozzle mechanism is very limited when compared to Catnap's, having a small amount of Poppy gas to use that needed to be replaced via canisters when emptied. A small zipper near the base of his neck, between his wings, is where the Poppy gas canister is replaced.
Once the positive data of the spray mechanism was collected, Playtime.Co was unsure as to what to do with Experiment 1182 after. It was decided Rupert would be moved to the Playcare section. Where he would be used as a custodian, ensuring the children would be safe and not see or be anywhere they shouldn't be.
After the Hour of Joy, Rupert wanted no part in the Prototype cult, and quickly made off into the factory. Thus labeling him a heretic. During the 10 year's, he would be caught in a explosion after a barrel of Poppy gas ignited. Burning his lower waist. Once having learned of the Poppy gases flammability, he would attach a makeshift lighter into his mouth. Allowing him to expel a limited amount of flame, at the cost of causing damage around his snout. This has assisted him in scaring off many a cultist and feral toys alike.
Personality: Much more quieter than his cartoon counterpart. 10 years of brutal survival has taught Rupert many harsh lessons. But despite it all, there's still good in him. Allies and sane toy's are few and far between in the factory. So any that he does meet, he will defend even at the cost of harm to his body. And in a battle for survival, he won't hesitate to take a life. Those fence posts are sharp, and he is not afraid to rip and tear with his own claws and teeth.

"GEMINI-2 REENTRY-This photograph is an enlargement of a frame from a 16 motion plature ausora swhich was mounted within the GT-2 spaoscraft to take film through the hatch dndow. The spacecraft at this point is in the reantry phase of its return through the earth's atmosphere.
Peak hosting exists on the spacecraft heat shield. The white glow is produced by ionised gases. The groanish tinge to the white glow is probably the contribution of the ablative products (of the heat shield) as they are known to have strong spectral lines in the green region. The bright streaks are probably hot fragments from the dre and tubing fairings located near the heat shield. The altitude is 173,000 feet. The Mach number is 19.0. The inertial velocity is 22,150 feet per second"

THe best part abour being able to have jetback boostars on my body is i can go anywere quicklyconsiderinf i can fly so the problwm is i run on diesel & i have to siphon it from other trucks onthe way there so if i want to have fun in a crazy spot i have to make tons of amokes in the air and giant black clouds which might be fine for the 🌎 world but lots of the time it kills birds wixh is OK considering its able for me to eat them when they fall and im tryinf to fuep my jetpack on the groubd by sucking up tje desal with my tubes I bring with me,i drink like a straw & anyways the big problem: The liberal "Loonie toonz" that run this shit country trying to take away my diesalpowertrucks make it fewer and until theres no more left so how do i power my jet pack? Its going to be harder for me in the future it means i will have to start gently fellating big hairy country boys that run the gases and diesals stations all around the world and make them feel so good and turn the way they moan and sweat and the smells of there body will make me go wild. Well its not a bad thing but lets get real the "Toms and Jerry's" that run this country are well in it for the power and dont give a fuck about the epople who live here since the "Sjw tweetie birds" of the 🌍 world are stopping everyone from getting a bite to eat and a place to call my home im just so siuck of it and guess what there using "Soler Panel/s" to direct control waves directly to your mind to make U get this feeling in youre crotch that just doesnt go away until U develop a liquid in your pants it works on machines it works on animals it works on humen its not very plesant until the part where you feel really good! I’ll let you in on a little secret: “Pretty privilege” is not nearly as real as Venusian privilege. 🤫 💖
Disclaimer: I’m not speaking on the latter from personal experience, as my natal chart does not grant me the status of “Venusian” in the slightest. But Mars conjunct my Venus has made me very motivated to understand Venus; seemingly especially when I’m going through Mars transits because these two characters can not be separated in my psyche!
Before I even learned astrology in depth, I always noticed it wasn’t necessarily the physically prettiest people/women who get all the offers, praise, and support coming to them. The way I used to term it, “personality privilege” is a lot more substantial than the concept of “pretty privilege” that people like to cite. Because I always noticed the privileges were most coming to those whose vibe felt most warm and open, and/or whose vibe had an aura of knowing and exercising their deservingness when it comes to receiving support or attention.
Now I know that this is Venusian energy in a nutshell. And I’ve confirmed the presence of a strong Venus in the people I had always known that struck me as having a lot of offers and support coming to them and being well-liked and recognized by others, but who weren’t necessarily all that conventionally physically attractive.
What matters more if you wish to manifest people giving more to you is in most cases not a major physical makeover; it’s an energetic makeover. Having “I’m pretty and deserving” consciousness and feeling energetically open to people is where the “privilege” most lies!
I’m not exactly the one to give advice on how to project more Venusian energy, and frankly I’m personally not even really trying to gain more of the stereotypical Venus energy embodied by The Empress. While it would be nice to ultimately have a less conflicted relationship with my own Venus, I’m not conflicted about one thing: She’s in fire🔥♌️, so the interpersonal prowess of Venus truly isn’t my main focus with her; learning to self love and self validate has been. I’m proud🦁 of my emotional independence, even if it can be a little extreme, and the stereotype that Leo Venus needs undue attention from others has never resonated with me! Have we forgotten that fire is individuality and independence? Most of my life experiences have given me no other option than to learn how to self validate if I want more validation. This also is due to having multiple neurodivergencies and having built some walls around me due to trauma, that make me seem less open… but I think that still fits a Venus placement not most focused on social graces, and a wounded Venus from a lifetime of being conjunct a stronger Mars! ❤️‍🩹
Maybe other fire Venuses or Martian Venuses or people that have Venus in any setup where she’s not in an advantageous position to charm people with her social skills will relate. 🤗 Our paths might be different; for us embracing that we’re focusing on self acceptance in our journeys to find peace, and recognizing that we possibly also have very emphasized lessons in our journey on how to keep certain people out of our lives, is likely to be the best way to remain authentic to ourselves while helping our Venuses.
So it appears I do have advice for people who have walked a similar path with Venus as me. 🔥♂ And I have plenty of observations about the energy of Venus that can draw privileges from others to it, even though I think that for a fire Venus, continuing to focus on embracing my authenticity even when it’s in no way popular is how I’ll eventually start feeling more capable with the social sides of Venus, and feeling more others appreciating her too.
⭐️🪐 Basic astronomical fact I only learned recently: Venus has the hottest climate of all the planets! And the reason she’s hotter than the planet closer to the Sun is because Venus’s atmosphere is made up of gases that trap heat. To me this represents the way Venusians have honed the skill of radiating warmth themselves. All that alluring heat she puts off can really draw in others. But it’s also her responsibility to use the warmth to be reciprocally giving in her relations with others… if Venus doesn’t give much and just takes, her atmosphere can start to feel more like Hell than like inviting warmth.
Wishing a successful journey for all in evolving with and embracing your Venus… however that may look! We all deserve to know comfort and peace. 🌷

Why do dragon breath fire, anyway? Seems like a waste of calories for hunting to spend time cooking your prey instead of just snapping their neck. Frankly I'm beginning to suspect dragons aren't real.
dragons get a lot of flammable gases from their diet that they can't digest. like, yes, technically those are 'calories', but they are not dietary calories, they can't live off them (cf. that joke about how if you drink gasoline you won't need to eat again for the rest of your life).
so instead they store them in a specialised bladder in their neck and release them in a jet while hunting, working both as a weapon and as 'cooking' in a rudimentary sense. theories suggest that it was firebreathing that allowed dragons to evolve their current size; trying to hit small prey with their claws while flying is almost impossible for them if their prey dodges at all, because the dragons mass translates to large amounts of momentum, and a lot of force required to change directions in flight. (plus, they are flying. they can't push off the ground). Whereas firebreathing means they just need to turn their neck to aim, rather than match speed with their prey
this is like dracology 101 anon

I'm back with another sculpture! To be completely honest, this one was a real struggle for me to work out, idea wise. I love working abstractly (see earlier pieces!) but for this one our prompt in class was "objects and identity." We were asked to cast an object from life, and use it to speak to some aspect of ourselves that we want to explore. Not only am I an extremely closed book (pour one out for my therapist) but I'm also really not that interested in replicating objects?
So... I sort of cheated. This isn't *really* a cast of VHS tapes (although I did try to do that, and it failed miserably) but I'm still pleased with the outcome. Sound on for what I think is the best part — the pleasing and/or sinister snick snick snick sound of the tape unspooling and piling up.
If you like long, corny artist statements, boy howdy do I have one for you!
~~ GEODE ~~
My day job is as a journalist, and while I find a lot of the posturing that journalists do about our role as storytellers to be pretentious and often egotistical, I also can't deny that I got into this because I love to see into people's lives. Why do people do what they do? Why do we make the choices we make? How did we get here, as individuals and as a collective?
Much of journalism is about the big moments — wars and chaos and game changing plays. But those don't come out of nowhere. They come from a history, both personal and communal. We are products of our childhoods, our cultures, our teachers, our parents. We come from places that have smells and sounds and textures. And we document those things — and here I don't mean "we" journalists, I mean "we" as people. Humans have, for our entire history, recorded ourselves in one way or another. We write on walls, we tell each other stories, we come up with words that have deep meanings that stretch back into time.
Some journalists see their job as speaking truth to power. Or telling the important stories in the face of chaos and misinformation. Or staking a claim to truth, and defending it. All of that is true, of course. But when I think about my job I don't think about those things. I think about excavation. About telling the story in such a way that you can feel the texture of the people in it. I think of stories like geodes.
Do you know how a geode forms? They start with a volcanic eruption. Lava flows from a hot, angry vent, and mixes with the gases in the air. Most of the time, those gases don't stay put — they escape into the air and go off to become the wind in your hair, or carry pollen, or sweep under a bird's wing. But sometimes, bubbles of gas can't escape the boiling weight of the lava and become trapped. As the lava cools, those bubbles remain. It is only then — held tight and encased in cooling rock — that the crystals characteristic of geodes form.
There is something sad about opening a geode. It can reveal a great beauty, but it is also inherently destructive. You are taking a hammer to something hard and protected and asking it to open, to be seen, to be commented on. Not all geodes want to open. Not all geodes should be opened, perhaps. Not all geodes are beautiful inside. How do you know when to break one, and when to leave it be?
Once you break a geode, you open the crystals up to damage. UV light can bleach the colors inside and the oils on your skin can slowly eat away at the glittering growths.
I think a lot, as a journalist, about the stories that we lose when people die. The small things that they knew — the color of a lover's hair, the name of their neighborhood dog, the true identity of a soldier — that go to the ground with them. I have to stop myself from buying home movies when I see them at garage sales and thrift shops — each one, to me, a geode. Inside they might contain nothing, or everything. Wrapped tight in metallic film they recorded things people thought were important, things people wanted to remember. Trapped in plastic and now, broken open.
My piece is a VHS geode. I have broken it, and it is unspooling, and we are forgetting. It is beautiful and terrible all at once.

SEES members react to getting anesthesia: headcanons from a real anesthetist
(Go here for post on Phantom Thieves react to getting anesthesia)
Makoto: the guy who secretly smokes weed, chews through roc every 15 minutes, needs over 1.5 MAC maintenance sevo. (Laymans terms translation: smokes weed so he burns through a ton of muscle paralytic agent (rocuronium) and anesthetic gas (sevoflurane) needed to keep him relaxed and deeply asleep)
Yukari: had her hair and nails done the day before surgery, wakes up from anesthesia asking if she said anything dumb and apologizing if she did. (Complimenting patients on their nice nails is part of my small talk to attempt calming nerves when they're rolled into the OR)
Junpei: would try to fight anesthesia and count past 10 seconds, tries to cheat by counting fast (he loses anyway) (It's so amusing when patients try to challenge anesthesia. Some put up a good fight, but in the end, anesthesia always wins.)
Mitsuru: takes 300 mg of propofol on anesthetic induction, scares the shit out of OR staff when she still reaches for the airway device as the anesthetist tries to insert it. (Redheads tend to need more anesthetic than average. For context, the induction/knock-you-out dose for propofol is about 2 mg/kg. For frail old people, I halve that dose. Most people don't need more than a single 20 ml syringe/200 mg of propofol. I push 200 mg for big tall football/basketball guys. I've seen redheads take at least 2, even 3 syringes. Mitsuru would be a tough one to knock out.)
Akihiko: the extremely athletic ASA 1 guy with baseline bradycardia bordering on need for anticholinergics. Will most definitely wake up swinging fists and knocking out teeth and trying to jump out of the bed if he didn't get enough sedative on board beforehand. (Healthy athletic young patients (HAY patients, I call them) tend to wake up violently and delirious from anesthetic gas. To mitigate this, there's a sedative called precedex that helps smooth out emergence from anesthesia. Good to give for little kids, teenage girls, and big strong-looking guys. As soon as I see I'll be getting an Akihiko/HAY type patient for an upcoming case, I already know to draw up and dilute precedex to have at the ready.)
Fuuka: actually a very pleasant and compliant patient, but has family history of malignant hyperthermia and allergies to practically everything, apologizes for all the trouble. (Malignant hyperthermia is a very rare, but very deadly anesthetic complication if not treated promptly. Many anesthesia providers go through their entire careers without ever seeing MH, but we're trained to know what to do if it ever happens. Anesthetic gases and a muscle paralytic agent called succinylcholine are MH triggers. The anesthesia machine must be completely removed of the gas canisters and flushed through with high flow oxygen for an hour or so, to really make sure none of that stuff is exposed to an MH patient. I like the idea of Fuuka turning out to be a patient requiring an extensive anesthetic plan when she totally wouldn't mean to)
Ken: the rare kid who's cool with getting an IV in preop. (Pediatric patients typically do not get an IV placed before being rolled back to the OR, as most kids are terrified of needles. Induction of anesthesia in the OR must instead be achieved by delivering high flow anesthetic gas through a mask. Once the kid is unconscious from the gas, then an IV can be placed to give medications throughout a case intravenously. Amada seems like the type to be fine with getting an IV placed when he's awake because that's what adults have to do.)
Aigis: is a robot, physically can't process anesthesia. (Probably goes without saying)
Koromaru: Mitsuru or Akihiko, as the oldest members of SEES, act as guardians to sign anesthesia consent forms. Holds out his front leg and rolls over to offer his chest so staff can put on the blood pressure cuff and EKG stickers. Adored by the vet and vet techs for being so smart and adorable.
Shinjiro: the guy you think would smoke weed and drink a lot but actually has a history of post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and prolonged emergence from general anesthesia. (Somehow I like the idea of Shinjiro turning out to be a delicate flower when it comes to anesthetic requirements)
