season 3 part one thoughts:

ok ok i did finish B S3 pt. I and it's GOOD and i was really happy with it but now that my pulse has gone back to normal i'm realizing i have a lot of nitpicks/concerns with the storytelling but ngl the carriage scene was fucking BONKERS and my mind will be in the gutter for the rest of the weekend

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!!! bc i have a ton of thoughts on season 3 so far and have to get them out:

THOUGHTS:::::

-i could not stop smiling. my face hurts still.

-i don't get people whining about colin and the threesome. when the brothel threesome scene was leaked people were losing their goddamn minds about colin not being a virgin on reddit. y'all. he spent a LONG time traveling solo around europe--did you really expect him not to experiment the entire time? the fixation on this was kinda weird i gotta say. also i really liked that in the second brothel instance it served as growth to show colin was realizing it wasn't those women he wanted to have sex with, but penelope.

it seems every bridgerton lad needs a whoring about subplot in their respective season and colin was obviously going to get one if his elder brothers did, so i wasn't surprised at all. i thought the scenes were hot, personally. overconfident and super flirty col galavanting everywhere suddenly being reduced to a pining, thirsty af insecure boy was so gratifying to watch and those scenes had a hand in showing us that.

-i hate portia's costumes this season. hate. hate. hate. she looks like she was ripped right out of DIsney's Descendants set from the costume rejects pile. woof. she was stunning in s1 but s2 were her best looks and now she looks awful. why???

-i think the mondriches are ok and i like them but their story did not need expanding here. i'm happy for them but that storyline was boring and time taken away from more important characters. i know this sounds harsh but this season was already packed with storylines. across these four episodes there was a severe lack of Lady Danbury. one of my favorite aspects of Romancing Mr. Bridgerton was her friendship/mentorship with Penelope. that instantly made her one of my favorite characters. why not keep that in the show??? i'm so disappointed but with part 2 yet unreleased maybe it will still come?

-speaking of lady danbury, something about the way her brother is presented and how she treats him makes me worry for Violet, that he might disappoint her later. idk it's just a vibe i get.

-Luke's acting is fucking incredible. all the microexpressions and the lingering stares and subtle movements. nicola is a great actor in her own right but fucking hell, every time Luke teared up on screen I was mirroring him.

the carriage scene, when he's on his knees in front of Pen and she cups the side of his head and his eyes do THAT thing and the look he gives her? i rewatched that two second bit on repeat for a minute. amazing. (that's exactly the kind of devotion i picture when I wrote dark Dramione in TEOAL towards the end)

-we get it, benedict is a slut. he fucks. i'm over it. i'm not interested in who he's fucking. i know the consensus is Lady Tilley will somehow tie in to Sophie but i just do not care about Benedict rn. he is pulling focus.

-hyacinth's actress is so stunning! all the actors are obvs but every time i look at her i see Brooke Shields. anyone else?

-i had higher hopes for Lord Debling. genuinely kind of disappointed. he's boring and feels fickle. also the abruptness of him going 'i need a wife to tend to my estate so i can go travel for 3 years so be warned that i can't love you' to 'you have feelings for another man? i'm done-zo.' like what. you just said you can't love her and will never be at home with her but it's a fucking problem that she likes someone else? even though she's is clearly willing to get over it by marrying you??? bro. bro.

-hate what they did with Colin's hair for most of his scenes. why flatten it all out and take out the adorable curls he had in the first episode????????????????? episode one hairstyle was god-tier. everything after that makes him look like he's wearing a bad and stiff wig. still hot tho. also on the hair note: please stop giving eloise bangs. please.

-people on reddit were near to rioting when they learned Kanthony was only in the first ep due to leaks. i was bummed but ultimately don't mind it. did we deserve to see more of them thanks to how badly s2 was handled?? absolutely. but if it's only sex scenes bc they're now trying for babies then i'm good for now. also glad that edwina and mary don't come back bc ngl they pissed me tf off in s2 thanks to how badly they were written. plus like i said, this season has FAR too many subplots to keep them in. the writers really should have trimmed things down. violet meeting Lady D's brother was also not necessary imo.

-i went from loathing cressida to actively sympathizing and rooting for her to snatch up debling in the latter half. well done, writers.

-all the featherington scenes were gold. pru and phillipa are incredible when in scenes together and i'm so glad we got more of that. albion finch is a treasure, too. i really think they should have spent more time on penelope and her mother's relationship bc it's a big part of the book with how portia assigned pen to be her caretaker for when she got old and that being pen's burden/reason to want to bug out and marry rather than stay with her abusive mother, not her sisters' heirs taking charge of the house. they leaned too much into the comedy with the featheringtons and forgot to remind us why penelope is so miserable at home too--the problem stems from her mother, too, not only her sisters. we got two tiny clips of that and that was it. not enough to really establish that. the featheringtons are funny yes but they are not good people (sans Pen). Portia is neglectful and rude and dismissive toward Pen and there is not enough of that so far.

-i haven't read fran's book yet so had no idea what to expect and thought i'd be bored. she is adorable and i'm rooting for her. i like john better than the other guy. but i'm not that invested in her plot. i have no true emotional attachment to her. she needed her own season or to be pushed back to s4.

-still don't like eloise but i'm warming to her. a third season straight of her being condescending to almost everyone outside of her family/friends does nothing to endear her to me. she still blames Whistledown for "ruining" her when she ruined herself by ignoring everyone's warnings and running around town doing socially unacceptable things. she still has a right to be upset with Whistledown/Pen but she needs to take accountability for her own shit. but her understanding and patience with cressida was really surprising and i liked that a lot so far. i can see why people are shipping them now!

-HOW HAVE PENELOPE AND COLIN NOT EVEN DANCED ONCE YET WHAT THE FUCK jk i'm sure we'll obvs get that in part 2 but i'm so accustomed to them having a dance in one of the first few episodes that this truly threw me.

-colin's wet dream. loved it. ngl i was fully expecting a masturbation scene in his bed and not only bc i wrote one into my fic lmao

-i fucking called it from the start that the first kiss would be in the featherington garden based off that screengrab. everything about it screamed romeo+juliet. that was my favorite scene so far it was so beautifully shot and the way he goes for the lightest kiss at first and then hesitates and then GOES BACK FOR MORE???? when he realizes he's super into it???? i collapsed. i fucking squee'd like it was 2003.

-i've been complaining on reddit that the makeup in the promos was fucking awful and way too heavy. it comes across much lighter in the final product/show and i'm so relieved because i was truly worried about that. nicola is a stunning stunning woman and i can't help but admire her every time she is on screen and the awful makeup they put on her for those promos were overtaking her face.

-two major changes i truly appreciate (bc i'm normally very critical about shondaland's writing)

1: the journal scene. i loved that colin had pen hide in his study. i really wanted them to get caught there. i love that the journal fight wasn't as huge as it was in the book because the book made it go on for too long and colin was unreasonably mad about it. i'm so glad it was a minor thing here and that they still showed that colin was really pleased when pen praised his writing and he said he'd consider letting her read more and left it at that.

2: the carriage proposal. my biggest issue with the book bc colin was borderline abusive when he pulled her out of the carriage and made her fall. hated that so i'm glad here he was pleased and still mischievous and held out his hand for her and proposed and wasn't rude and impatient like he was in the book. also the carriage scene was hot as hell and i did not fucking expect colin to fucking finger her right then and there with the goddamned WINDOWS OPEN. tbh i was expecting boob action like in the book but that was a surprising change.

-pacing. too many storylines makes for a too-quickly paced episode. i feel like we were catapulted into everything and my head was spinning. this is a show that, because it insists on such a large fucking cast, would immensely benefit from a 12 or even 20 episode run rather than eight. but we know netflix is a cheap bitch so that will never happen and shows this dense suffer for it.

-music. i do not care about covers. i just don't. it makes no difference to me who is added to the soundtrack or the easter egg hunt of finding which song was used in which scene. the original scores made for the show are beautiful on their own and don't distract like the covers do and that's all i'll say.

-already seeing reviews online from people complaining polin have no chemistry??? idk what show they're watching but it ain't this one. this has been a slow slow buildup and if you can't feel their chemistry then idk what to tell you bc it is there. (and this is gonna be a hot take and unpopular opinion but personally out of all the main couples so far i found daphne and simon's chemistry to feel really forced and kind of cringey so take my opinion as you will but pen and colin have LEAGUES more chemistry as friends to lovers here)

BUT: one could also blame this on the awful pacing of these first four episodes so far. it really would have been nice to have more filler time of col and pen doing the flirting lessons since that was cut too short too soon.

atm I’m going to say 1. This is a Dark Ride 2. The First Secret but both those episodes are fantastic, some of my favorite pll eps favorite Halloween eps of anything honestly some of my favorite episodes of tv I’ve seen they are so real… and The First Secret could be first depending on my mood and how I felt when I last rewatched, it’s an excellent episode for character work especially for Alison and her dynamics with each liar, but also for Mona and each liar individually. It’s also probably one of the most time capsule episodes of the show what with the Lady G thing which I find charming and then Emily’s costume which is …not :/. But This is a Dark Ride gets the edge to me rn because it’s an episode that just fires on all cylinders great character work a lot of plot movement while also being close to a bottle episode stunning costumes that have such interesting symbolism for the character stuff, the horror elements of the show shine in certain sequences and the goofiness of straight vampire Adam Lambert being at this absurd high school dance and hitting on Aria is just so insane. I also love the through line of both these episodes having Mona in a mask flirting with Alison in the s2 ep and establishing her A face vs almost kissing Hanna in the s3… there’s more I could go into for these eps so I’ll just stop there.

The pllos Halloween episode is good to me! It’s not iconic like the former two but I remember really having fun watching it the slasher elements of the show shine in it good plot movement I love Faran’s costume even if the others aren’t very memorable… I have only seen this episode once so blanking on all the details but my memory is fond liking although it’s not love

Grave New World is the weakest of the bunch to me as an episode, I don’t care about Caleb enough to be into a spin off storyline about him anyway and the concept of Ravenswood is pretty poor, idk if Miranda is a better character on the spin off itself but this introduction makes me think she was miscast. The iconic parts of the episode are really iconic; Alison’s return, the costuming which I actually quite love lol, the set up of some 4b plots which are very compelling like Ezra as A and the liars especially Emily’s feelings on Alison’s return although I think these things are much more interesting in later episodes, and because so much of the liars plot is just the chars running this way and that I can’t say I’m wowed by the character work overall. The like top 3 scenes of the episode I like more than anything in the pllos episode but that episode has a stronger overall plot and nothing annoyed me about it so it gets the edge. Despite my diss I do think this ep has that campy pll charm and is rewatchable for it.

My thoughts on Chainsaw Man episode 9

*anime SPOILERS*

They really had to make us rewatch Himeno's death as if last week didnt tear us to shreds but it did a great job of showing that, unlike Denji, Himeno is GONE and she doesnt have any special powers to bring her back. Screaming crying throwing up rn but anyway

When ghost used its final moments to rev Denji's chainsaw, I was HYPE like hell yea fuck em up Denji and then he proceeds to get cut in half??? Up until this point, Denji has won most of his battles so I wonder if his lose and the complete destruction of all his friends (except power lmao) will trigger him to start training or finding ways to get stronger. Devils keep treating him like he has the potential to be a lot stronger so I imagine theres some growth in his future.

As for Makima, first of all we love women who stay winning but oh my god is she so shady (I'm an anime only watcher so no manga spoilers plss). The fact that Makima specifies that she *didnt* get shot after us seeing (at least something that looks like) her get shot means she didnt heal herself but likely knew something was going to happen and planned for it ahead of time. Her reaction to the Special Divisions all combining under her confirms this as she has no reaction to this but seems suprised when that one of the special division guys resigns.

Did she know this was coming but chose not to say anything so she could get more power? Based on what we've seen from her personality so far, it seems likely

Kobeni...baby girl. She would murder me and then cry about it and I love her for that. She was so badass this episode. She was able to neutralize Katana man in like,,, 30 seconds?? Granted his was probably tired from his other fight and caught off guard from their subordinates dying but damn. Also the moves to completely dodge the snake devil? Immacute, stunning, beautiful. She was out here looking like she just passed the chunin exams.

wow, a lot of people seem to have a lot to say about goncharov rn and let me say - I find that so great

I grew up on this film, just like my parents grew up on it (dad was 4 when it came out, and I remember that we used to have a vhs of it tucked in next to the michael caine films) but I was always so sad when none of my friends knew what I was talking about when I refered to it. I even remember one time when I was about 10 or 11 watching it with my best friend (and ik that we were way out of the age range and I probably shouldn't have, so dont bitch abt it in my replies or anything) because I really wanted to share one of my all time favourite films with her, but she wasnt all that impressed! I dont think i spoke to her for days after that, I'm not even kidding.

Anyway all this to say that this new resurgence has inspired me to rewatch for the first time in a while, and let me just say that I am in mo way disappointed, and in fact i feel so lucky to be able to critically look at this film like I couldnt a few years ago.

So firstly, the cinematography? Stunning. The acting? Impeccable, raw, barely an imperfection. The direction? *chefs kiss* Scorsese and JWHJ 0715 getting the recognition for this film they deserve, especially JWHJ 0715. Like, technically speaking (and I'm no film expert, but I've been seeing a lot of pros agree lately) Goncharov is a great film

But the emotional beats omg I'm obsessed. The sort of bittersweet taste that Katya leaves you with? The way you kind of want to wrap Sonia in bubble wrap and protect her at all costs? The hopeless grief and relief mixed in with the end of the film and Goncharov's death at Andrey's hands? The way that Joe seems so, like, almost comical and out of place at first, only to devolve to a point where it's just so poignant and melancholy to even think about laughing at him? God!

and the fucking queer subtext! I am in awe. I am in shock.i am so weirdly proud of my fave directing duo for being brave enough to make a film like this in the early 70s? bc let's not kid ourselves, no way way any of that *gesturing broadly to apple scenes, three way brunch scene, bridge scene, dance scene, cigarette scene, goncharov death scene* was unintentional

also, Katya Joe and Andrey were definitly some sort of queer awakening for me

oh boy. ok. know ur herstory ! this was written from 2011 to 2012 and it is thee s7 fic, a virtual season written by 17 fans all together. it’s very very long and it suffers sometimes from having being written a decade ago, but im making my way through it right now and it still fucking holds up. i really do recommend reading at least some of it, you can stop around halfway through and you should be fine.

Random JATP Headcannon: Reggie Pep-Talking Julie

 Disclaimer: Hey y’all there’s a lotta negative self-talk and body image stuff in this long and chonky puppy (like a dachshund). Am I just simply projecting in this headcannon? Si señores, señoras, y señoritas ...umm chile anyway so... on to the angst and fluff.

Julie is a bad bitch.

And we love that for her. But every bad bitch has a few weaknesses. Like popping balloons or falling for a ghost who died in 1995 or being afraid that you are going to lose everyone you’ve ever cared about. But there are days when Julie’s biggest weakness is her body. Then again Julie loves her body, she loves how her hair curls and how it frames her, and even though it can be a pain in the ass, she loves it. She also loves her smile and the gap between her teeth and how musical her laugh is. She loves how she can pull off a blazer and a dress and how her eyes sparkle in the sun. She loves how clear her skin is and her brows and her height and everything but some days she doesn't. But some days she looks in the mirror and cringes at what she sees.

Ha, it's funny to think that I can pull this off.

I'm too much of this and not enough that.

I don't really love how I look in this.

Julie grabs an old Orphuem hoodie that belonged to her mom, slipping it on noticing how she still hasn’t quite grown into it. Walking past her mirror one more time Julie scrunches her nose not appreciating how her tight jeans look on her. In fact, she doesn’t like how her nose looks today. 

Fuck I hate when I feel like this. Maybe Flynn is right. I should probably talk to Alex and at least try to avoid Luke. He doesn’t need to see me like this.

Sighing, she makes her way over to the garage. She opens the door only to see Reggie intensely focused on playing the riff he was working on for their new song.

“Is Luke around? I need to snatch up Alex, but I don’t want him to see me and worry,” she asked, starting to giggle when he snapped out of his trace as a small yelp left his lip.

Reggie spotted Julie’s Orpheum hoodie not noticing how much his eyes widened.

Julie cocks her head at the gaping Reginald before realizing he was staring at her hoodie. “It was my mom’s,” Julie whispered as Reggie nodded along, “she used to work there in college. Mom and her best friend, my Tia Maria were waitresses there. But I’m getting distracted, is Alex here? I just really need to talk to him and his dumb emotional availability.” 

“Well, it’s Alex and Willie’s 6-month anniversary, so I hope he’s not around here. But he’s like at the beach with Willie being all mushy.”

“Oh wow, they’re so cute together! He’s definitely seemed so happy since he met him,” Julie said, truly proud of her drummer but not completely masking her disappointment of not having anyone to talk to.

“Yeah, he's more free now. Plus it gives me and Luke the opportunity to rag on him on how easily he flushes when Willie teases him. But you don’t need to worry about lover boy or your lover boy,” he says while waggling his eyebrows at her. 

Julie sadly laughs trying to hide her face from the boy. As Reggie seemingly oblivious continued “Luke is at his parents. He’s been going more often trying to find sneaky ways to leave his song. Some unpublished songs Julie. He has never done anything like that since you went to his parent’s house with him. The closure is cathartic for him,” he whispered, putting down his bass. “He loves seeing his mom’s face light up when she finds another song. But you seem down Julie, what’s wrong?”

“Oh it’s nothing Reggie don’t worry about it,” Reggie cocks an eyebrow at her with a concerned look on his face. Julie looked away sighing, putting on her hood before continuing on, “I’m just a little under the weather and just needed someone to talk to, but it’s fine. I’ll be fine. I will be fine in a few hours. But don’t worry, and please don’t tell Luke.”

“Well Julie you can talk to me,” Reggie pauses puts down his bass putting his hands behind his head, legs cross, frowning slightly, “Believe it or not I can be a little insightful but seriously Julie you’re like my little sister and I hate to see you like this.”

Reggie taps on the spot on the couch next to him motioning for Julie to sit down.

“I’m not going to force you to tell me anything but if you need someone to talk I here when you are ready,” And with that, Reggie picked up his bass and started to work on what seems like a new song.

Together they sit in this calming silence as Reggie starts to pluck away at this melody taking notes of what chord progressions work and what doesn’t while Julie quietly points at chords. This goes on for about five minutes until Julie finally says something.

“Fine okay you need to promise me that you won’t tell Luke because he’ll try and fix this, and he’ll probably make me feel worse,” Reggie quickly nods before putting his fist out giving her a promise fist bump. Julie wetly laughs at this before taking her hood off, running her hands through her hair.

“You know for years I’ve waked up and then immediately looked in the mirror and some days I loved what I see those days are good. I love how I look and how I feel, and I’m just happy. But some days I don’t... some days I look in the mirror and I just see every single flaw I have, and I just want to hide in my bed and not let anyone see me. Some days I feel like I don’t deserve you or Luke or Alex or Flynn or even my family. I just look into the mirror, and I’m like why would anyone stand to look at me. And you know today is one of those days. When Mami was alive she would call a day like today a BBD. It was a code for bad body day or day when we would just wear matching hoodies, cuddle, and binged movies without telling Dad what was wrong. But he understood, he understood that Mami would take care of it and that she understood what I was going through. We did it so often until she you know... that I don’t know how to tell my dad about it. Like him making me hot chocolate like he used to won’t make going away,”  Julie sighed wiping the quickly forming tears from her eyes. Julie turned away from the concerned, so he couldn’t see how close she is to completely breaking down.

Reggie wrap his fettuccine arms around Julie pulling her into a warm hug that smelled like the lemon-lavender bath and body works body wash she bought him for the shower in the garage. The was comforting which led to Julie letting her guard down, shoulders shaking as she heavily sobbed into her undead friend’s shoulder as he rubbed her back. After she was seemingly cried out she looked up at Reggie, who looked wide eyed at her.

“I’m sorry I snotted all over your flannel. God that’s so disgusting. I’m just going to go to bed and just mope and watch Netflix. Thank for being a shoulder I could lean on. I’m sorry that I was just being annoying,” Julie whispered as she tried to wipe away the snot only to make a bigger mess.

"Hey hey hey it's okay Julie I can just wash it or like blame it on ghost ectoplasm. Julie do we leak ectoplasm?"

Julie laughed wetly as Reggie frantically looked to see if he was oozing before realizing that he was getting distracted. She quickly noticed the major shift in demeanor change as he seriously looked at her.

"Julie you are beautiful and I know that you don't feel like that now but you will eventually. And I know that you don't want me to fix you and I won't because I can't. And I know you might want to try to impress Luke with how you look or just think that your looks are all that Luke that think about, but I am his best friend and I know that he would be head over fucking heels gone for you. Even if you look like whatever a Jar-Jar looks like he would see you as the light of his world. He is in love with you and your soul and you deserve that love. But you deserve self love even more. Julie you are not a thing to be looked at then judged. You are a person with feelings and  personality and a story, a story to tell. Your body looks the way it does because of all the things you've experienced in life. Julie I know this all may sound meaningless coming from me but you are literally one of the strongest people I know and I know you can through. You will not be less strong if you reach out for help. You might be my favorite Molina but talking to Ray is smarter than you think and he can help. I just hate seeing my sister hurt like this," Reggie said before yelping as he noticed that Julie had started to bawl again.

"Wait Julie no I'm sorry. Was that too much. God I know you said I shouldn't try to fix things. I should've kept my dumb mouth closed and not bring up Ray. I'm sorry Julie don't cry," Reggie rambled nervously rubbing her back

“No no no no Reggie you didn’t say too much. You just shocked me honestly but like in a good way. I mean I can’t say that I will believe everything you said. But thank you Reg. Thank you I am so glad that you are in my life. You’re my favorite Peters and you are much smarter than other people give you credit for,” Julie says laughing at Reggie’s bright smile.

“I mean need them to underestimate me sometimes. But let’s watch something together to at least make your BBD a little better.”

Julie smilies quickly nodding before putting on the first episode of the Mandalorian and snuggling close to the older brother that she never had. 

Julie felt okay to say the least for the next couple of weeks her next BBD hit her. Julie sighed pushing herself off the bed looking in the mirror that is covered in encouraging notes from her Dad, Reggie, and Flynn. She sighed about to leave her room to go talk to her Dad again about what was going on before she notice a hoodie on the bed. It was a fleece lined hoodie that was left on her bed folded her bed saying ‘Uke I’m your father’ on it. 

Reggie Julie sighed shaking her head smiling as she picked up the little note that was left with it 

‘I knew that you said that you and mom had matching hoodies for your BBD’s so here’s one that we can wear together. I mean only if you want to I know it was something you and your mom did so I don’t want to butt in on a tradition. But it could be like a signal that you’re having a BBD. I don’t know it might be stupid but I hope you like it.’

So basically the AdDeetz (what I'm shortening it to now) universe is an amalgamation of all their respective properties bc there's really a lot for both when you think abt it! The most inspo comes from the cartoons, at least on the Beetlejuice side! A little from the musical in the fact it's more modern and some relationship stuff. Pretty much the important thing is that both Lydia and Wednesday are 12 in this universe, a la the cartoons. Other than that, I guess I'll elaborate by family!

The Deetz (Beetlejuice): So Beej and Lydia's relationship is pretty much like the cartoon, they're besties! Beej is just a kinda trickster demon/ghost that hangs around and causes trouble, not entirely sure how the inciting incident goes down, it's DEFINITELY different from the movie and probably different from the musical as well. Overall a waaay more family friendly Beej, though he's still p flirty with the adults around. He's a fun uncle. Adam and Barbara are also there! They consider themselves Lydia's guardian angels, they hang around the attic/netherworld still and are just part of the family now. Delia and Lydia's dad are a lot like their musical counterparts! Mr.Deetz (cannot remember his name for the life of me rn) is very no nonsense and businessy, kind of a brick wall emotions wise, and Delia is very over the top and try-hard, still a little self centered but she's working on it. Theres conflict in the family but not animosity, at the end of the day they all love each other!

The Addams: Pretty much the classic Addams family! Rewatching the 90s movies I was surprised (for some reason lol) at how much genuinely magical/supernatural stuff happens around them. Like half the stuff in their house has a mind of it's own, Things whole existence, witchiness, seances, etcetera. So this kinda leads into that a little! They are very comfortable with the supernatural/afterlife and therefore are more than welcoming to Beej and the Maitlands! They're a very put together family if a little overbearing at times. None of them are ashamed of anything ever, which can be a little too much sometimes.

The story (so far): So in this universe the events of Beetlejuice just so happen to happen in the towns the Addams live in, essentially. But, the Addams don't go into town much so they just haven't crossed paths. So the Deetz are adjusting to life in the new town bc they have just moved there after all. Lydia goes to a preppy private school and she's having a little trouble making friends, but she doesn't mind too much. She's interested in creepy supernatural stuff as well as photography, and no one seems to share her interests. On the walk home from school one day, she runs into Lydia and Pugsley on a bridge, fishing in an Addams kinda way. She's intrigued immediately, and is a little shy to go up and talk to them. Beej wants to scheme it up but she thinks he'll embarrass her, so she banishes him back to the netherworld for a bit (the Beetlejuice x3 chant can both summon and banish him). He's very bitter about it. Meanwhile, Lydia gets to talking to Wednesday and Pugsley! They're looking for some kind of cryptid fish that was displaced from its natural habitat due to a storm. Lydia is absolutely stoked to find out they 'believe' in supernatural stuff too, and Wednesday makes the comment that if you know where to look 'supernatural stuff' is all around you, sometimes it's just shy. And that's kinda the start of their friendship! I have a lot more but this post is getting p long and I gotta go to bed.

ok so a few months ago I decided to listen to the jagged little pill album and I was like "oh this slaps I love it" so I listened to more of alanis morissette's stuff and then I stumbled across uninvited. which like. fully gave me chills. the whole contrast between really quiet simple instrumental backing the vocals but then slowly building with the strings swelling up is so beautiful and intense and ugh it's just SO good....

but the entire time I kept thinking it sounded super familiar and I couldn't figure out where id heard it before bc like,, sure its from a movie soundtrack but Ive never seen said movie so where did I hear it first, yknow? I spent ages getting frustrated over it until,,,,, I rewatched s6 of glee and realised,,, it was a fucking rachel berry solo all along,,,,,, I guess I just didn't remember it bc by that point in the show I had kinda checked out from all of her solos and the song just doesn't fit her voice like many other songs she's had?

anyway my point is... if anyone should've sang uninvited its miss quinn fabray..... I usually associate alanis songs with santana but lets be real quinn would nail this one! I love her soft vocals sm and they would absolutely pair well with this song... like imagine her alone on stage with a single spotlight on her, and then as the intensity of the song grows/peaks the rest of the stage lights up and there's a wholeass orchestra back there.... its what she deserves!!

no this is definitely one of those rachel solos i just Forget exists… rewatching s2 rn and was shocked to learn abt the existence of what i did for love… miss berry sure sang a lot good for her hope she got a chance to rest her voice!

but i just listened to the original and okay wow this is an incredible song!!! one of those songs that just. u can feel its meaning and weight in your chest even before you get to considering the lyrics… wow !!! good job on this one miss alanis morissette…

but!!!! i do love it for quinn!!! a powerful moment like this would’ve been fantastic for her… something to rly wrap up her character yk. those visuals sound stunning and i do think she’d sound beautiful on this song. it’s what she deserves!!

also the lyrics i think work rly well for quinn and her complicated relationship to love…

another rachel solo ive seen ppl say should’ve been a quinn song is lovefool… i rly like rachel’s version but i think it fits s1-s2 quinn so well!! vocally and lyrically it’s such a quinn song tbh…

my top 10 series of 2019~

aka i gush about shiz i watched this year for waaaaaay too long lol... 

i watched a lot of stuff this yr (well... it felt like a lot? there’s a lot more i wanted to watch but i’m terrible at time management lol...) so let’ssss explore that in a ~numbered list~ lol

(spoilers - there’s a lot of gay shit here lol... what can i say, twentybiteen really pulled thru lol)

10 - Stranger Things (series 3) 

i know some people didn’t like this series, but i legit thought it was really good lol... i felt it had gone back to the style of the 1st series a lil more? (whereas series 2 had felt a lil disappointing in a way??) & i loved all the new characters introduced (robin is a personal fav, obv), & the whole splitting off into the lil groups was really effective in not just feel like it’s always the same group together, and it also allowed for some interesting character moments!

visually, stranger things always looks amazing! but i thought the whole summer/july 4th vibes really made it especially stunning tbh... as most things on this list, i’ve only seen it once, so i would like to rewatch it at some point (actually wanna do a full stranger things marathon tbh i was trying to explain what had happened in the show to my friend who stopped watching it early in series 1 & it was so difficult to remember exactly what had happened in it lool... ) 

there were obv things about it that i wasn’t as big on, like the whole evil russian-invincible guy was v cliche and kinda silly, & some of the actions scenes were a bit awkward(?) feeling... but i’m a sucker for any 80′s style media so those things just reminded me of the goonies or some shit lol

9 - Ghosts 

actually the funniest & cutest series ever tbh!!! as someone who grew up with horrible histories with the original cast, this just made me immensely happy to see the whole team together again! the humour style is v similar to horrible histories too btw, though i feel they let themselves have a lil more ‘dark humour’ than in that (since this is more a general audience, whereas hh was definitely more aimed at kids tbh... tho they still won a comedy award for it lol! actual legends lol anyway...)

only downside is that it’s only 1 series atm & it’s pretty short... but i know there’s gonna be a new series at some point so i’m v excited for that!! i feel there’s sooooo many places they can go with the concept (i.e. exploring how/when the other characters died (like kitty!!! i need to know her story lol i love her!), maybe introducing another character who can see ghosts?? like a medium/psychic or something/etc ...) but legit, please watch this if u haven’t!!! 

8 - Good Omens

this pretty much took over the internet this year lbr lol & tbh i’d def say it was worthy of the praise!! ineffable husbands aside, the main story is super engaging and enjoyable, with some really awesome side characters (& some of my fav character designs in anything ever tbh!!) but definitely the biggest draw was the ‘6000 years mutual pining’ romance which they did so well lol & it was something that was genuinely so lovely to watch tbh!! i also really loved the ending message of the show! i really hope to rewatch this next year when i think it’s gonna be aired on british tv at last????

downsides would be that the plot can be a bit confusing at times? but maybe that’s just me being dumb lol... but i imagine it’s a lot easier to understand if u’ve read the book lol?? i don’t have a problem w/ aziraphale & crowley not being “explicitly” gay or whatnot (i know i’ve seen some people annoyed with this?), since the whole idea of their relationship is so much larger than just them bonking or whatevs lol? (in general i think more media should have less focus on kissing/intimacy as an indication of love/romance... which is something i’ve already talked about lol)

oh, and the title sequence is INCREDIBLE lol i seriously loved it so much!!

7 - Killing Eve (series 2)

finally finished this the other day & it was so good!!! i really love the dark comedic tone of the show tbh & i def feel there was more of it in the 2nd series then the first! i also liked the further development of villanelle & eve’s relationship, which is obv the highlight of the show tbh! there was also a nice lot of twists tbh, though i’d say it was a lil less intense than the 1st series? (overall i’d say i prefer the 1st series, but the 2nd was a fab continuation... btw i also watched the 1st series this yr lol)

negative points are that the plot wasn’t quite as interesting as the 1st series... i think cos the focus of the murders was taken off of villanelle that we lost some of that drama from the 1st? i thought the ghost was gonna be a more integral part but she was kinda weirdly pushed aside once we learnt her identity? & the creepy son dude just annoyed me lol (but i suppose that was the point lol...)... so like yh there were lil things that didn’t engage me as much as the first, but overall i still really enjoyed it lol

this is def fulfilling the hannibal-shaped hole in my heart tbh... (another series i finished this yr...)

6 - Dark Blue Kiss the series

look, it’s no surprise this is on my list lol... i was hella hyped for this series when it was announced last yr, even though my expectations were VERY LOW after kiss me again the series (which, lbr, is a massive mess lol... like it’s My Mess tho)... but for real, this series really exceeded all my expectations... & then some! like i’m legit shook at how good it was ngl! especially morksun’s storyline, which was by far my fav in the show (as much as i’m petekao trash lol...) also, i was surprised by how genuinely pretty this show is! esp in comparison to kma (like i know i keep going on about the goddamn bruise makeup but it is so ugly in kma, but they really did a great job in dbk tbh!)

ok so there’s a lot of flaws lol... like... a lot (i’m already complained a lot so i won’t bore u with that rn lol...) but for real, the thing that i love the most about this is the discussions of coming out/homophobia/general young people struggles/etc etc which is so refreshing to see in these series! like i love that despite the cheesy tropes, it still knows when to be serious & genuine...

5 - He Is Coming To Me

another thai series, i believe this has the same director as dbk? (don’t hold me to that tho...)... legit one of the best, if not the best, thai series i’ve ever seen tbh! so adorable, so well acted, so funny & heartwarming like... legit it’s so good!! i was already excited about it from the trailer, but the way it really delivered on the emotionality, whilst keeping it lighthearted, was truly wonderful tbh! the main actors did a brill job i gotta say, and all the side characters were amazing too (there really wasn’t a character i didn’t like i’d say tbh? i need to rewatch tbh... there’s a lot i’ve forgotten since this came out p early in the year lol)... also, visually it’s so pretty!! i swear the cinematography in these thai series just keeps getting better & better & it def improves the watching experience tbh!

a down point would be that the first ep is a bit slow/awkward to get in to... & i think it def could put someone off? but i’d say to stick w/ it since it just keeps getting better & better! i’d actually say there isn’t really anything else i didn’t like about it ngl? it’s just so good guys... u really need to watch it!

4 - Russian Doll 

probs the only series on this list that i actually actively went to rewatch straight away lol (didn’t do a full rewatch btw)... it was SO good for real! i already loved the premise lol (it’s basically groundhog day, which is already such a great film, but they explored those ideas even more in this which i loveeeed) the leads are fantastic, and the story is generally so interesting!  plus the editing & song choices are really brill tbh... 

my one complaint would probs be that the series loses a lil momentum at certain points (esp later in the series), but it still keeps ur interest, and the ending is really well done too! i know there’s gonna be a 2nd series, so i’m really hoping it’ll be able to live up to this one, and also explore more of the characters/concepts/etc! i’m def hyped for it tbh!  

i feel like this series is simultaneously underrated and also v well known lol?? like i know everyone sees that ‘thursday! what a concept’ meme but i feel like i didn’t see as many people talk about it as much as other series this yr??? 

(for my top 3, i’d say i love them all equally/for different reasons... so the order they’re in is changeable lol)

3 - Gentleman Jack

one of the greatest bbc series of the year, maybe even the decade lol! actually a masterpiece of cinematography, incredible acting, gorgeous costumes, beautiful depictions of love and intimacy, hilarious characterisation & just generally a wonderful series!! like i can’t praise it enough! it’s literally everything i could ever want from a series, and more!!!!!!! like everytime i think about it i just feel like ‘!!!!!’ constantly lol... like... what did we do to deserve such a series for real?? something that i esp loved was that i vividly remember not that long ago w/ people complaining about the bbc for having minor lgbtq characters in things, so to have a actual main lesbian couple series be on prime time bbc telly is kinda mind blowing lol... like.. i know we’ve got a long way to go, but it does make me immensely proud!! 

i have no complaints lol... other than - needed to be longer (i think we’re getting a 2nd series right???? i hope so tbh!!)

2 - The Untamed 

look, i don’t make 15 piece series’ for nothing lol... this show really got to me ngl... like i knew it was gonna be amazing from seeing tonnes of mutuals start watching it & praising it.. .but ohhhhhhhh boy i wasn’t reading for the angst and heartbreak and just generally how invested i’d be in all the characters lol... like genuinely there’s so much to praise about this show! it may not be as super ‘polished’ as some of the other shows on this list, but it really has so much heart and hard work and dedication put into it which really shows in the final  product!

there’s obv issues with it, but i feel like it’s kinda unnecessary to go over them lol? there’s so much more of this series that has brought me genuine joy, the biggest being the fact they were still able to depict a really beautiful, loving and /romantic/ relationship despite the strict censor is truly incredible lol!! like w/ good omens, it just shows what you can do to depict love/romance without having to over-sexualise something...

i feel like i’m saying less for these top 3, but it’s just cos i’ve already gush to high heavens about how much i love them lol... 

1 - HIStory 3 - Trapped

you - *pretends to be shocked that this is my number 1*

yeh... no surprises that this is in my top 3 lol... what can i say that i haven’t already screamed about for months??? this series truly surpassed any expectations i could have had for a HIStory series... the story line is complex & pretty well done (it’s not perfect... but nothing is so....), the characters are wonderful & also brilliantly acted! i think the thing that i love the most is that the director wanted to create a series that wasn’t just a cheesy gay series (don’t get me wrong, i loVE cheesy gay series’ lol... ) but also would have a more interesting, well developed & more ‘mature’ story line (i think esp in comparison to other HIStory series’ which are usually school/uni based)... it’s also one of the few lgbtq series i’ve seen that isn’t just about ‘first loves’, and doesn’t place a big emphasis on a sexuality/identity crisis... it’s just so unabashedly a mystery-romance drama, which is just so refreshing to see! & i genuinely hope we can see more series like this, where gay characters don’t need to ‘prove’ themselves in order to be in a series or to be in relationships (which it often feels like, where writers need to explain /why/ characters are gay...)...  

phew... that’s a lot of text lol, just like w/ the untamed, i feel like i’ve already talked about the negative points of the series (plot holes, awkward moments, weird editing/sound choices, bad tropey plots), but the positives of this series seriously make it worthwhile, and i’m just so so SO happy this show exists lol...

all 3 of these series have a special place in my heart of inspiring lots of my own exploration of art, as well as writing, which has been really crucial in me understanding what i wanna do with my life (i know that sounds kinda weird, but at the start of the year i really didn’t know what i wanted... and i wasn’t even sure what i was good at lol... so thru these shows i was able to discover a lot more about my own style of working & thru all of them i was able to meet some wonderful new people on here which has made 2019 actually one of my most enjoyable years on tumblr! 

this has been an...... interesting year lol... but definitely these shows made it just a lil bit better!!!

i doubt i have any followers that really care abt sharp objects and i’m just kinda yelling into the void here so it’s cool but just. i have thoughts and i’m like desperately wanting 2 rewatch it because holy fuck that show is, like, absolute art so here’s me lazily screaming abt it under the cut. spoilers, obviously

fucking. okay. idk if i even have WORDS for it because, just, oh my god. like.....outside of the ridiculously stunning acting from everyone (amma, camille, and adora are genuinely haunting and relatable and so real it’s. insane.) the detail and pacing and feel of the show is So Much. they took the small southern town feel and they ran with it, hard, and it feels real. it feels like the awful small town i know, to a total T, the people, the look of the house, how deeply ingrained every -ism you can think of is. all of the bit part characters feel like someone i know and it’s ridiculously stunning, but the town itself - the houses, the shops, the park, everything, they have The Feel. it’s a lot.

and then the pacing, the exploration of everyone camille knows and everything that happened to her and all of the little details of it are so. so fucking good. camille’s life is utterly fucked and she’s been through a lot, her family is fucked, the town she knows is fucked and she’s totally buried in it and just barely holding her head above water with it all and she’s Fucking Miserable. and fuck if she’s not relatable for it, she’s self-destructive and trying to cope and she’s got these massive lapses in her memory, she feels guilty for everything, she’s fucked up (and fucks up) plenty.

and god i just??? it’s a show that really just left me feeling kind of raw the entire time and it was set up so beautifully and deliberately and paced in just the right way and it feels like so much more than just a whodunnit or a standard family drama. it gets you attached and shows everything it needs to and not a bit more (though i wish we’d gotten more of the last bit with amma - i Need to hear amy adams recite the ‘child weaned on poison’ bit, i wish they’d added just a little more but as it is the ending still hits like a suckerpunch anyways) and it’s near fucking flawless. honestly this is probably gonna be my favorite show Fucking Ever and i need every frame tattoo’d on my person rn.

also if this show doesn’t get At Least One emmy (i dont. i dont know if those happened yet or not? i’m sorry i don’t fuck with award shows that much.) i’m gonna personally riot at the show myself bc holy fuck everything abt it is so so so good and i’m in love

15. Favourite movies: Ooh there are so many, right I’ll start with Notting Hill, then The full Monty, Labyrinth, Hot Fuzz and grease  Although I watched The Man who fell to earth yesterday and y’all it was a religious experience

16. Favourite books?: Maurice by E. M. Forster (and his short story The Machine stops), Jamaica Inn by Daphne Du Maurier and I’m reading Andy Warhol’s autobiography at the moment and the whole thing is beautiful, it’s just a stream of consciousness.

17. Favourite pastime: I love reading and listening to my favourite albums, I suppose I do a lot of things, I also really enjoy playing all of my instruments too but I wouldn’t say it’s a favourite

18. Do you have any regrets?: of course, but the list grows longer every day so there is no point keeping track of them or dwelling otherwise I’d spend my whole life doing it

19. Dream job: Philosophy academic, maybe a politician if I feel like it’s worth my time, I’d quite like to be very active in my activism so any job that allows me to do that would be brilliant 

20. Would you like to get married someday?: I think so, but probably not legally, just an emotional thing with a celebration, and definitely not with such a big fuss about it

21. Would you like to have kids someday?: I don’t think so but that might all change

23: Do you like shopping?: Sort of?? I like looking good and having things I enjoy but I don’t like spending money or being surrounded by consumerism so I mainly go to charity shops and second hand so I can at least feel a bit better, I don’t buy much more than clothes.

24: What countries have you visited?: France, Switzerland, Wales, Greece and Spain. I don’t really remember the last two but France was beautiful, I stayed with my friends in Lyon and it was stunning!

25. What’s the scariest nightmare you’ve ever had?: I had reoccurring nightmares about the Queen from snow white as an old lady in various different scenarios until I was about 11. I still can’t look at her, she’s the reason I’m scared of the dark and I shit you not sometimes she makes me panic so much I almost go into an attack??? It’s so random and I have no idea why?
