Around Their Lake
Summary: When Steve broke up with Eddie he split a lake property he'd brought for them so Eddie could own half of it. Now they run competing camps and have to deal with a camper mix-up
Authors Note: I had this idea near the start of the month, and decided today and tomorrow I'm rewriting Rock 'n' Royals for Steddie, first as the camp owners and tomorrow as Erika / Courtney. I deny wholeheartedly this being an excuse to rewatch the film multiple times.
/\/\
This wasn't what Steve wanted for his life, was never what he'd dreamed of and part of him just wanted to stop enforcing the entire argument. Eddie was constantly saying he wanted the entire lake, wanted to extend Camp Rock and Steve, well, he didn't care.
The only reason he argued was that it was easier, far far easier than admitting that he didn't want to lose this connection with Eddie but if asked he'd probably all too willingly give up his camp for Eddie to share his passions with more kids. Robin sometimes called him out on it but often just agreed they wouldn't have worked out back when the lake property was brought.
She'd been the one to help him split the property deed before his parents ever learnt he'd brought it, and ensured that Eddie knew he had it, ownership of half the lake they'd dreamt of running away to and living peacefully with their family and kids coming to visit. Robin had been the one he'd questioned his parents re-entry to his life and doting after Hawkins was rebuilt and the one who helped him figure out.
The break up had been to protect both of them from what his parents could do and Steve hated it. He hated it even more when Eddie decided he was reverting back to his King Steve days and thought he was above him when all Steve was thinking about was how easily his parents could block Eddie and all of Corroded Coffin from ever achieving anything with their music.
/\/\
“Either you're in the wrong camp or I needed parents like yours twenty years ago.” Steve stated, seeing Erika Juno enter his office. He recognised her, easily recognised her as one of the popsters Max, El and Erica Sinclair were raving about being amazing currently, and knew that she wasn't meant for his camp, jokingly called camp royalty since Steve had focused on his favourite things when setting it up.
“Nope. I'm meant to be at Camp Rock. I was running late and went where I could hear my name being called.” Erika agreed, leaning back and putting her feet on the desk.
Steve smirked at her, doing nothing to discourage it. “Then you get two choices; I can call Camp Rock and try to sort out the mix-up while you stay here for a few days until your transfer is sorted, or you can stay here for the entire time and see whether you like horse riding, baking and ballroom dancing compared to the dance styles you're more used to.”
“As fascinating as that sounds, I'd prefer to go through the transfer. Nothing against you though. This place is flashy.” Erika decided, glancing around as she complimented his camp.
“Robin will direct you to where your room is and I'll try to catch up with you about how the transfer will work tomorrow.” Steve stood, holding his hand out to shake and gesturing to Robin.
/\/\
Camp Rock needed the space.
That was basically the entirety of Eddie's claims that he'd buy out Camp Royalty. He was sure both of them knew there was plenty of space to grow their camps closer together and both of them were avoiding doing so for all their arguments and claims of expansion, but his camp was growing more each year and he needed to extend sooner rather than later.
Except he couldn't subject his students to noise limitations here when all of them faced that at home too and Harrington's had been a family as likely to log a noise complaint as they were to get one when Steve's parents were out of town. It seemed unavoidable that after years in their pockets Steve would be just the same now.
/\/\
“And this is Miss Courtney.” Eddie said, looking at the computer screen rather than looking up at the camper now sat in his office. “Gareth, why is Miss Courtney here? I could swear it usually takes at least a day before anyone is asking for help.”
Gareth scratched his neck, before deciding to just redirect Eddie's gaze. “Well, there's been a mix-up, with Camp Royalty I think.”
“Daughter of a wealthy businessman wanting you to follow in his steps or fulfil traditional gender roles?” Eddie summarised his views of the campers across the lake.
“Something like that, but this was meant to be a fun week away from that.” She offered.
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “Not sure how that camp is getting away from it, but fine. Do you want me to call and sort out a transfer or to rebel a little, stick around here and find out how much fun you can really have?”
Courtney paused, watching him. “I don't think I'd really be much good here, so if it isn't a hassle, please can you arrange for me to transfer to the camp they meant to send me to?” She uncertainly requested.
“Your choice. Gareth will point you to the right note your staying in while I sort that out.” Eddie agreed easily with a wave.
/\/\
Steve was already pinching his nose by the time the phone was answered. “You're through to Camp Rock, if this is family news for the students please only call if it's urgent they know. How can I help?”
“Hey Gareth, it's Steve from Camp Royalty. I need to speak to Eddie. We've got one of your campers here.” He explained, already aware that Eddie rarely was the first to answer the phone.
“And we've got one of yours. I'll find him, but are we really not just letting them swap and skipping the paperwork?” Gareth asked, the sound of a door opening and closing audible through the phone.
Steve groaned, “I wish. It's the insurance paperwork though. We're already paying extra because there's no fence or separation between the borders of our camps. If we swapped campers between them without paperwork to say who is staying where the premiums would inflate exponentially.”
“Oh Stevie, you sure know how to solve a problem.” Eddie replied, chipper and confusing him before he realised the phone had been handed over without him being told. “But seriously? Are they actually charging us extra for that? Because that is idiotic.”
“The joys of things my parents forced me to learn, right? Insurance companies like to be precise over what they protect us from and things that make them more at risk.” Steve muttered, “Anyway, I've got a camper called Erika who should be over at your camp.”
Eddie laughed, “You're not sending the Sinclairs over to me just because baby Sinclair can walk rings around you.”
“Erika Juno.”
“Point to Steve.” Eddie stated, “Okay, well we do have a Miss Courtney who should be over with the snobs too. What forms do we need to processing to transfer them to each other?”
He sighed again, chuckling a little. “Just because I was forced to use computers before you found the need to doesn't mean I'm in charge of telling you how they work.” He said before explaining what the forms should be for, as well as what information would need to be included and agreeing to send copies of them over.
Robin was stood leaning against the door when he got off the phone. “You are still so gone on Eddie, it's almost sickening.”
“Not my fault that I'm a romantic.” He countered, leaning back in his seat.
“This isn't being a romantic, this is pining hopelessly without daring to ask for more than your half confrontational, half weirdly dependant neighbours thing you two have.” She stated, deadpan, “And that's coming from your entirely co-dependant, no borders allowed platonic soulmate.”
/\/\
“Robin, this is how I manage it.” Steve stated the moment he heard Erika Juno actually sing. “This is how we get Eddie to take the rest of the lake without trying to push money on me.”
Robin frowned at him, glancing around in confusion. “By walking through our camp listening to the singing classes masquerading as an acapella choir?”
“No, by making a bet on a singing competition between our camps, making Eddie think we're that confident in the Camp Rock kid we've got being able to win it for us. Winner gets the full lake.” Steve explained, grinning, “She's amazing but with the Camp Royalty campers making cliques just as much as Hawkins High did, she'll be fighting a losing battle to make the song win the contest.”
“Steve Harrington wants to set up a competition to deliberately lose? Did I die in the upside down and this is a very long hallucination.” Robin exclaimed playfully, after a quick glance around to confirm none of their campers was close enough to hear.
Steve shook his head, laughing too. “You know I've not been that focused on winning for years, practically since before we ever worked together.”
/\/\
Gareth and Eddie both stared at the phone in confusion. “That was on loudspeaker. I didn't just imagine that entire conversation, right?” Eddie mumbled after a while.
“Nope. Steve Harrington just suggested a song contest between our camps. Either he's going to fix the judges, or he's literally trying to give the rest of the lake to you for some reason.” Gareth agreed.
“Now come up with something believable for a suggestion.” He glared.
Holding up his hands and stepping back he repeated a comment the entire band had directed to Eddie a million times over the years, “Both are believable and quite possibly he'd fix it in order for us to win. Harrington has been gone on you for-literally-ever at this point. Why else would he have given you this property in your break up as if it was a divorce instead? That and I'm 100% certain his parents never knew that he'd brought the entire thing and then given half of it away.”
“It was the easiest way to get my name off the deed without getting me to agree to him buying it out.” Eddie mumbled back. “Besides he's definitely not now since he wants to get away from me and the lake.”
Gareth rolled his eyes. “Remind me how long you've been asking how much to buy him out? This could easily be just trying to fulfil what you want for the hundredth time. Someone wanting to get away from you would not, I repeat Would Not spend ages teaching you what paperwork or computer filing needs doing to run your camp effectively.”
“So he's still a good guy. He still dumped me so he could play happy families with mum and dad Harrington.” Eddie pouted.
/\/\
With the bet confirmed, Steve had wanted to just let the campers enjoy preparing for it, decide who forms the acapella group and which songs they do. The issue was that the campers didn't seem all that willing to just enjoy the process themselves.
“Is everything alright?” He asked, stepping between Olivia and Erika calmly.
“Just an artistic difference of opinion.” Olivia said, sounding stressed and overly polite compared to the ferocity that had been in her voice moments before.
Erika held out the pages he'd thought they were arguing over. “I was just asking if we could try a song I've been playing around with for the contest.”
“Friendship is a more relatable subject to sing about than being royalty, which, I might add, none of us should claim to be. Being rich because of parents successful in business does not guarantee our own success without putting the work in and learning to get along with those around us.” Steve reasoned, repeating some advice he knew Robin must have told him at some point early on in the career his parents pulled and pushed him into. She'd followed along, of course, but neither of them had enjoyed their work until they decided to build and open this camp.
“We've already chosen our performance piece.” Olivia attempted to argue but was clearly now uncertain on how important that was.
Steve nodded, “But you still have a few days left to practice. Plenty of time to learn a new song should the rest of the group want to do so. This shouldn't be a decision made by just the two of you.”
The girls glared at each other for a moment more before turning back to the group. “Okay guys, let's try practising both for today and voting on which we like more at the start of tomorrow session.” Olivia called out, clearly unhappy but accepting his point.
/\/\
He just wanted to rock out with the band, perhaps give a few hints and tips to the future chart toppers.
He did not want to walk into the studio to Sloane screaming corrections at the rest of the group and Marcus claiming no-one was feeling the song they were using for the competition.
“What if we played one of Courtney's songs?” Zia suggested.
Sloane was immediately scoffing, none of them noticing Eddie there still. “A princess can't write songs.”
“A good song can come from anywhere and anyone.” He interrupted. “Looks like you found your skills for Camp Rock. Let's hear whichever song Zia thinks would fit the competition.”
Eddie beamed as he listened to the song and got to rock out to it a bit. This was what music was meant to be about, sharing a story and having some fun together. He couldn't help but declare it able to win the competition, even if he thought he should have tried getting his campers to find a compromise themselves.
/\/\
Steve had headed back to his office, already drafting up the paperwork to sign everything over to Eddie and thought he'd heard something. If it was one of the party surprising him during a camp week he knew he'd have to wait until they decided to jump out, given both Dustin and Mike had kicked up a fuss the times he didn't. Except if it was a camper then he should probably check on them in case there's an issue he needs to help resolve.
Or he could monologue about the bet and see whether the campers react to learning about it at all. “Eddie better have the paperwork ready for when I win that bet. Camp Royalty has this in the bag and Camp Rock should be preparing to close its doors.” He tried to make his words believable while meaning none of them. He never wanted to make his campers doubt themselves or their abilities even when he was hoping they'd lose the competition.
A gasp and the sound of his table scraping slightly along the floor showed whoever was there heard and was trying to hide even more than before. “I better start getting the expansion plans finalised.” He decided, turning around to head out of the room.
Whatever was going to happen could come now, and hopefully that wouldn't backfire on him.
/\/\
The stage and binding lights had never been Steve's place. He'd never wanted the spotlight and had barely dated Eddie long enough to dream about helping them on tour, doing something backstage so he could just watch Eddie perform every night.
It had always been a 'what if' daydream since then, but now he had to co-host, at Eddie's insistence, this entire event.
“Can you believe he's single? I hear opposites attract, maybe you should find someone funny.” The words felt foreign to him, and he begged in his mind that Robin wouldn't be quoting that at him later. She already was mouthing opposites attract at his back, he was sure of it, even more so when Eddie's expression momentarily twisted.
“Let's introduce the judges.” Eddie announced, thankfully ending the stilted commentary they'd attempted making to begin the show.
/\/\
Robin and Steve were jumping around and cheering like mad.
On the other side of the audience Eddie was screaming and whistling, leaping around while Gareth hollered and encourage the rest of their campers to applaud louder.
“Never in my life did I expect this to be the outcome of this competition! I want to commend whichever campers managed to orchestrate this amalgamation, this blending, this meeting of worlds, if only for how much they must have been racing around the lake constantly to organise it.” Steve ran out onto the stage, realising that the applause was slowing down and as hosts he and Eddie were meant to be there. A glance back to the Camp Royalty section of the audience showed Robin laughing at his praise.
Eddie was soon to follow, clearly prepared to argue but pausing just as he was beside Steve, “I entirely agree, but also entirely expected you to be arguing with this. Whatever happened to competition is healthy for our campers?” He asked, clearly attempting to question whether the bet they'd made still stood.
Steve laughed, gesturing behind them, “I think it's pretty clear that even our campers don't agree with that. They've decided that rock and royalty can work together and I long since learnt better than to argue with a large group of teens. Perhaps we should even merge our camps together to see what else they'll create.”
“Hey Steve? You wanted to congratulate us for storming away from camp and befriending each other instead?” Erika called, arm around Courtney and pulling her forward from the rest of the performers.
Eddie burst out laughing then, “Oh I am so glad not to have gotten involved in whatever camp drama caused that reaction. Let me guess, you both struggled to get along with everyone in the camps you ended up in and stood out enough to have confrontations.”
“Just a few.” Courtney admitted.
/\/\
Both camps were saved, and the band had somehow launched into a completely different song Eddie was sure couldn't have been rehearsed half as much as should've been necessary to perform it so well. Except instead of being allowed to just enjoy it, he found himself being pushed away, and lowered into the backstage area by Gareth, with Robin doing the same thing to Steve, on the same lowering platform.
“I get the feeling they want us to talk.” Steve muttered, glancing around to see where the platform control was instead of heading for the way out into the audience.
“Gareth is probably expecting me to ask if this was your attempt to give me the rest of the lake or if we could date again.” Eddie sighed, hoping if he just brought up those talking points they could get back to their celebrating scheming campers quickly. “But I want to know why the campers would have made themselves a supergroup at all.”
For a moment he was just blinked at. “To Gareth's questions, the answer is yes. And to yours, I was pretty sure one was hiding in my office a few days back so spoke aloud about the bet. Not sure who or why they were hiding, but you said it yourself, I'm happy not to get involved in the camper's drama.”
“When the hell did you start wanting this again? You told me we couldn't be together and you had to spend time with your parents if they were going to so much effort for you.” Eddie ranted.
That was the thing that made Steve snap, that brought out the fierce glare Eddie had seen a few times when Hawkins was still treating him like a murderer after the Upside Down was dealt with. “I Never Stopped! I'm still utterly insulted you believed half of the nonsense I said when breaking up with you and infitely hurt you just immediately decided I was reverting back to being King Steve. The Harrington's could have destroyed any chance you had to get this far! Those albums on your walls could have been gone before you dreamt them up if my parents found out we dated! Who cares that I'd have been immediately either disowned with everything they could take from me taken, or trapped in the lowest role of their business with no chance to progress until they decided I was straight and following their orders, you would have lost your dreams! Business owners don't let their kids have room in rockstars worlds.”
“There was always room for you in my life, Stevie. You never asked for it back.” Eddie's voice had softened, sounded comforting now in the face of anger now being thrown at him.
“You immediately called me King Steve when first opening your camp beside mine. Even when Gareth was pretty chill to talk with, you left the wall there. How was I meant to know I could ask for anything?” The energy was gone from his words and his head came to rest on Eddie's shoulder. “So I just took what I could helping and arguing as you wanted.”
Eddie nudged him back from his hiding place in his neck, one hand coming up to tilt Steve's face to his own. “Well what I want now is to date and run one big camp with you. Is that something you think you could stand?”
Steve smiled, nodding, “On 2 conditions. 1. I'm in charge of the filing and paperwork with Gareth's help for the numbers side of it all.”
“And the other?”
“You kiss me already.”

Authors Note: happy new years!!! this is mostly- if not entirely, inspired by THIS fortus fanart by the dear @4tusmylove like!!! holy fuck!!! his titties!!!! also : title from that one gnr song. anyways, this came out a little more intimate and fluffy and just . sweeter than intended but they're my babies sooo :P anyways, thanks for being patient with me sorry it's been like a month!!! im just busy with life but im getting back into my groove
“I look,” Richard paused as he ran his palms over his ribs, “insane. I look fucking crazy, Robin.” With every small movement he made, the bell around his neck rang out a clicker-clack noise. When he inhaled, it dung. At the smallest turn of his neck, it banged. He couldn’t move without the bronze bringing attention to him. “No. No, you look cute.” Robin grinned from his lazy seat on their shared bed. It was the truth! The main outfit was sickeningly tight, leaving nothing hidden in the soft white fabric. His flag was clearly at half mast already, if you get what I mean, but outside of that- every rippling muscle in his body was clear and sharp. The chest of the leotard was open, leaving his breasts clearly out for the world to see. It regrouped at the neck with a prim white collar met in the middle with a bow and the aforementioned bell.
“Give me a spin, baby.” Robin drawled, drawing circles in the air with his pointer finger. Richard sputtered and fussed, but he obeyed in the end. His feet softly padded against the floor as he gave a slow cautious spin. Robin let out a low whistle as he took in the sight of his lover. As Richard turned, the thin cow tail tacked to his bottom swooshed against his pale skin. “You look so damn sexy.” Robin grinned and gently rose from the bed. The thud of his soft steps was deeply dulled by his socks, which were printed with black spots on a knitted white background that danced up his thighs. “Oh- shut up.” Richard guffawed as he faced Robin once more- this time, his cheeks covered in a scarlet blush.
His arms nervously crossed over his bare chest. The tattoos that normally decorate his arms were covered up to the middle of his bicep, covered by the same print of fabric as his muscular tree trunk legs. “I dunno if I can, not with such a pretty little cow in front of me.” The rockstar grinned, walking up behind Richard and pulling him into his torso. A soft fluttery whine slipped from his lips as he leaned into the man. It wasn’t uncommon for Robin to wander around their flat shirtless- but in this instance, it added so very deeply to their relationship dynamic. They were so different, but the exact same in an odd way. Robin wrapped his arms around the guitarist, swaying the two of them to a nonexistent rhythm. He was always doing this- using his ever-so-fantastic mind to subconsciously create music through the tiniest of actions.
He dragged his hands up across Richard's arms, climbed his shoulders, and rested them upon the beginning of his neck. He didn’t apply any pressure. There was no harm in his actions. He just let them lay there atop the big black bow and push their weight into the cold brass. The man basically purred as he cradled his lover and began to hum into his ear. It was a familiar tune he repeated, one they had performed as a duet many times before. Beautiful, both in the literal naming sense and in a technical sense. He was calculated in his movement, though. Careful not to knock off the headband he had just helped Richard place on his head. Two twin horns jutted out of his black choppy hair, towering over a pair of soft folded ears below them. The unbelievably fluffy pink fabric under the black and white splotched layer on top of it looked impossibly soft, and Robin could easily get lost in the sensation of rubbing them if he would allow himself.
The best part of it all? One little tag pierced into the right ear that proudly read “ROBIN.” It was scribbled in his own messy handwriting, of course.
“You are so goddamn beautiful, you know that? Thank you for doing this for me.” Robin grinned, slowly peeling himself off of him. Richard fussed as he turned to find the man quickly roaming to the bedside table and back. He hadn’t directly seen what the guitarist had grabbed, but everyone knew Robin wasn’t Robin without his camera. “Just sit all pretty for me, please?” He begged, camera in one hand and the other nervously playing with the ends of his big brown waves. Richard stood there and thought about it. Hard. But, hell- you only live once, right? “As long as you promise to keep it to yourself.” He softly smiled while attempting his best seductive walk to the bed. He only had to walk a few steps, but he still strolled with pointed toes and swinging hips.
Robin approached him almost fearfully, palms sweating and a sort of perverted yearning in his features. In a way, everything about the two of them was perverted and they had no shame behind it! It was just in their nature. In a handful of flashes from far too many angles, Robin was finished with his photo shoot. “Yeah- yeah, these are good.” He mumbles, flicking back and forth with the mechanical buttons. “You sound like a total fuckin’ fangirl right now.” Richard snorts, bell ringing out as he was folding one of his legs over the other. “That’s because I am. These are like- amazing. I know you’re loyal to the whole puppy-boy thing but, God- maybe I’ve found your true calling.” He coyly teases, carefully putting his camera down on their dresser.
Their fun had only just begun, but the feeling of lust already sat heavy in the air.
Robin strolled toward him, an air of confidence surrounding him as he approached his lover. Richard was nothing but impressed by his behavior, the usually meek man being turned into this unfamiliar illusion of pride. He stood in front of him, shoulders pushed back and head held high as he gazed down at the flushed man. One of his worn hands carefully floated towards Richard, cupping his head in his large palm. "You look pretty. I think I said that already, but you really do." He grinned and scratched his blunt nails softly against Richard's jaw. He always did shit like that- the smallest signs of intimacy.
Richard let out a low- almost gravely purring sound as he leaned into the guitarist's embrace. Carefully, Robin toed his way around the bed and, in a borderline weightless way, shuffled behind Richard. His folded legs encaged Richards' wide hips. Robin rested his forehead against the slight curve where his lover's spine blends into neck, allowing his slightly greasy black mane to tickle at his skin. He let out shallow hunched breaths- but, he was perfectly calm. “My favorite.” He mumbled, gently holding his thigh and running his fingertips across the bold hem that ran across his femur. “What’s your favorite? My little costume?” Richard snorted through a deep throaty laugh.
“No, you. You’re just- I don’t know how else to say it, my favorite.” Robin stumbled. His normal aura of sexual dominance and confidence was flushed away for a moment of rawness. He was quite the lover and honestly very physically intimate with no shame behind it, but he wasn’t quite the wordsmith that other men were. He preferred to show love in the smaller, less verbal ways- so this bordered on being proposed for Richard. “Oh my God. Hi, yes- you’re my favorite too? I love you so much.” Richard babbled, overcome with such a strange form of pure admiration for his lover. Hell- he was making it hard for him to focus on the outfit when he was just throwing out confessionals like this!
“Thanks.” Robin giggled, tone suddenly much less antsy. Although his face was still blushed and his heart was pounding, he wanted to play! He began to carefully dance his fingers up his body. They cruised against the wide sea of white fabric and paused just below the bloom of his breasts. Everyone who’s anyone knew Richard had big tits, I mean, just look at him! But, very few would acknowledge it to him. Robin would, though. Because, of course he would! Infact, there would be days where he’d grab Richard just before they went on stage and insist that he unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt- you know, to give the girls a little bit of fanservice.
He softly brought up the worn pads of his fingertips to tease around his nipples. Hell, he didn’t even actually touch his areola- just danced around them. Sliding down his fingers, he pulled them back along the bottom line where they meet his ribcage, and pushed forward while beginning to fully cup them. “These are so nice.” Robin grinned. “Thank you.” Richard airly replied, the blush across his cheeks coming out almost verbally. He flexed his clothed arms as he leaned into the little touch Robin graced him with. Robin let one hand slowly wander down toward his groin while keeping the other stationary at his breast.
He gently began to tweak Richards' nipple. It wasn’t painful, but there was a very unique sensation behind it. Really, indescribable in a sense. Like stepping on a Lego but underwater while on ecstasy, almost. The pressure between his fingers grew as he worked closer toward Richard’s cock. It was like the ultimate distraction. He thought everything all at once, yet nothing at the same thing. All of his thought’s rambled in an incoherent rhythm- the kind of rhythm not even Robin could produce. Robin reached between his legs, pushing his torso into his spine, and absorbed the pure warmth radiating off of him. It was lust in the most concentrated way possible.
Roughly, he tugged apart the snaps of his garment that lay hidden between his thighs. It should have brought his attention closer to his cock, but it didn't. Here’s another thing about Richard Fortus- the man’s got unbelievably sensitive nipples! I mean, really, his tits ache like he’s supposed to be breastfeeding something! Robin always held that above his head in their scenes to keep him in a comfortable mushy headspace. His cock fled the tight white fabric like all hell, springing up and plopping against his thigh with shocking vigor.
Robin ignored the sensual part of his brain screaming to tease the hell out of Richard, instead he chose to jump straight into the pure raw sexual part of it all. Foreplay is fun, but they know each other's bodies so impossibly well that they can pinpoint when it’s needed and when it's purely for fun. So, he wrapped his hangs around his cock and gave him a few beginners strokes. That first bit of real contact- God, Richard thought he was dying. “Oh my goodness.” He sputtered, gasping through a moan. “You’re so cute.” Robin grinned as he rubbed quick circles across the bud of his nipple. He peered over his shoulder, still careful to avoid the horned headband, and snickered as he watched the man's thighs tense.
He had been given so little- so few sensations to work off of, and yet he teetered closer to the edge by the second. Why? Because they had been playing this game for a while. Robin would dance circles around him and keep him just on the precipice of success, and then stop touching him entirely. He had done it for the last week or so, and Richard couldn’t handle much more. But, it was so incredibly fun, in a morbid way. “You’re gonna kill me.” Richard huffed out, sweat beading through his bangs. Robin just hummed and continued to flick his wrist. Occasionally, he’d lose tempo and punish Richard by clamping down on his nipple just a little harder- in a good way.
“Robin, ‘m not joking. If you keep going, I’m gonna come.” He chewed out his words through euphoric babbling. There’s this sort of itch that only Robin can scratch inside of him- an itch that’ll never be solved by anyone else's hands. He pushes him to a level of unimaginable euphoria. Every. Single. Time. Robin wordlessly continued to pump away at his cock. It was a sort of silent permission Richard could only assume and hope for the best, because there was no way he could possibly hold back.
There's not enough words invented to describe the adrenaline speeding through his veins as he comes. It hurts- his nipple hurts, but it's such a good hurt. It's bursting pressure coursing throughout every ounce of his being and it's so amazingly too much. He doesn't get to come down. No, Robin doesn't allow him to. He continues to jerk him off until Richard is gasping for air and desperately trying to writhe out of his grasp. Then, he lets go. Richard borderline collapses as he heaves for air, tears unbeknownst to him previously dropping onto the sheets. He's not sad, though. He's so very happy and just overwhelmed with tears. Proof of a good orgasm, really. If there's any drug in the world he craved, it was Robin's touch.
"You okay?" Robin mumbles against the shell of his ear, carefully wrapping his arms around his midsection. He wasn't sure how long it took for him to come down from his high, whether it was minutes or weeks. But, when he did he was filled with a wide appreciation for his lover. Robin didn't demand to get off after him, he never did, instead he busied himself with caring for the hazed man. Richard tiredly nodded, almost too exhausted to keep his head up. "Wicked," He smiled, "do you want me to take this off?" Robin asked as he plucked at the white bodysuit. "I'll keep it on, for now." Richard slurred. "Well, alright. Whatever floats your boat, but can I atleast take off the ears?" He asked, careful not to pop that bubble of post-orgasm serenity.
He, with the most feathery touch he could muster, slipped off the soft headband and discarded to their slightly messy floor. That was a problem for another day. "Do you want me to clean you up right now? We could just lay- if you want, of course." He questioned, knowing even if they laid together now that he'd still end up sneaking out of bed to get a rag and clean off his lover soon enough. "Just lay with me, please." Richard spoke just above a whisper. Robin didn't reply, instead he just pulled him into the plush bed with him and stayed there. His big waves of hair created magnificent swirls and patterns of halos around their heads. He didn't mean to, but soon enough the soft bubbling breaths of Richard succumbing to sleep had him dozing off as well. Maybe he could clean him up in the morning.
This was true peace. Just the two of them, always and forever.

a/n: here it is first chapter, feel free to tell me what your thought are. Enjoy it :)
You’ve been in Hawkins for a week and this was the first time you ever dared to go out of your aunt’s house. It was crazy how you went back to where you started, to this random town in Indiana. You were born there, after all the chaos related to lost kids and rumors about it being cursed, you never saw anything out of normal, the only curse you were sure the town had was the one of boredom.
You and your parents moved out of town in your last year of high school. New York was cool, you met people from all over the country once you went into college. You shared room with two other girls that were really nice, yet no one was like Robin.
The first time you met her was the summer before your freshman year, she was in the same section of the mall you were, where clothes weren’t dresses nor had bows and sequins, you bonded over a shirt of Bowie you and she were planning on buying. Since then you both stayed friends, two beautiful years of true friendship, it was heartbreaking when you gave her the news of you moving out. Either way you called each other every couple of weeks and she was the source of gossip you had in town, not that there was much going on, not until the summer of ’85, she disappeared for a couple of weeks, she didn’t contact you and when you tried to talk to her she was always busy or with her new best friend Steve Harrington.
Steve was a nice guy, you shared English and Chemistry with him for a whole year, he was not the best student but he tried and he was always willing to lend you a pencil when you needed it, since you helped him pass his exams either by helping him study or giving him the answers of the test, he found a way to pay you by inviting you to all the parties he threw at his place and the basketball games, you always took his offer lightly because it was Steve Harrington, besides he had Carol and that nasty guy Tommy as friends, who were absolute jerks, of course you had Robin and you needed no one else. Now he had stolen your only friend left in Hawkins and that was not cool, not cool at all. It hurt like a stab in the back and he was twisting it without noticing.
Somehow Robin found out you were back for the summer to stay at your aunt’s, she had called you nonstop since day one, and finally after a lot of insistence from her part you agreed to finally see her, your ego was bruised by her treason but you loved Robin more than anyone so you basically threw yourself at her when she appeared at the foot of your door, she had that big smile and a pack of skittles with her.
A peace offer.
You were eating the candy on the porch of your aunt’s house when she jumped from her spot and started pacing, telling you about this place called The Hideout and how you should go with her.
“My friend is playing, he has a band and it’d be super fun if you come with me. Other of my friends are coming so you are totally invited… you need to come, promise it’s gonna be fun!”
Her enthusiasm and constant movement already made you feel dizzy, her hand found its way into your forearm, you looked at her ruby-painted-nails and up to her bright blue eyes, you smiled. “Sure. I don’t know where that is but yeah, It's not like I have much to do.”
“Excellent! If you want we can meet somewhere and go from there together.”
You nodded, and soon enough you found yourself walking beside Robin later that day, she had added black eyeliner in her waterline and she looked badass, you only put on some mascara to look a little more presentable. And that night for some reason she made you think that maybe Hawkins had salvation after all.
It was weird to be back, because things changed, life went on without you in the small town.. Your hands felt clammy when you arrived at the place, Robin was suddenly saying hi to almost everyone around her and you only nodded once or twice, no one paying attention to you, no one recognized you.
A group of young teens started to wave their hands once they saw Robin coming in, you weren’t usually an extremely shy person but you were feeling like you were going to have a panic attack when Steve Harrington turned your way and furrowed his eyebrows when his eyes connected with yours.
It was easy to distinguish Dustin, he was very talkative and out there. He once gave you a band-aid when you fell outside his house when you were rollerblading. You saw him hang out with Steve a couple of times after that, you weren’t sure about the rest but they all were smiling at you, welcoming, yet the tension was palpable.
Steve dragged Robin to the side as you obviously noticed they were talking about you, but Lucas and Max invited you to sit with them while they questioned you about what New York was like.
“It’s pretty big and dirty and it’s also very interesting. You should come one day. I'll give you the whole tour and if you are lucky you can see some weird stuff on the subway.” You said, Dustin had just joined you after he went to interrupt Steve and Robin.
“Assholes,” he mumbled, “Steve is upset because Robin dragged you here and now he thinks he has to look after us because Robin is going to be with you the whole time… as if we needed him to take care of us, we’re practically adults.”
“Well, he is our ride home so I guess he is kinda right.” Lucas intervened.
“Yeah but Steve has no other friends his age that’s why he feels left out. That’s not our fault.” Max added and you really felt like you were intruding.
Steve suddenly plopped his body on a chair right in front of you. “Hi y/n, long time no see.”
“Hi,” you answered, he didn’t seem upset but he was definitely not giving you the time of day, he was only being polite for Robin’s request most likely.
Robin arrived a few minutes later with a can of coke for each one of you.
“Thanks,” you said to her over the suddenly very loud music, Ramones playing.
Robin smiled your way and shot Steve a quick glance. “Don’t mind Steve, he is upset because he had a date planned with this girl he just met and I happen to have already invited the teens and you. He thinks I’m trying to ruin his life, basically he’s just being a diva.” She whispered into your ear.
“I still feel bad, you should’ve told me.”
Robin waved her hand diminishing the whole situation, “He'll survive.”
People started to gather around the stage, and you noticed then that there were lots of people, young ones specially, the teens at your table were the youngest but somehow they allowed them to be there as adults drank beer and sang at the top of their lungs.
When Helter Skelter started playing, it was like a cue for everyone to start shouting and get even closer to the stage. You’ve been to a couple of gigs in New York, those were a bit more crappy but the whole vibe of The Hideout felt bigger than what you have experienced before, it was the aspect of community and familiarity, you guessed.
Robin took your hand and dragged you out of the table, you heard Steve grunt at your back but you didn’t care, you followed your friend to a spot on the left side of the stage.
“This is going to be awesome.” Robin squealed when the reflectors turned off.
More shouts and whistles ringed in your ears, at the pit of your stomach blossomed that feeling only live music was able to manifest.
Shadows went up to the stage, instruments got plugged in, a few tried to tune their guitars one last time as the cymbals chimed. The spotlights went back to life to show you the band everyone was waiting for.
“What’s the name of the band?” You screamed as Robin leaned closer to you.
“We are Corroded Coffin!” the guy with long hair said into the mic, answering you.
“Wow.” Your eyes widened, that sounded… aggressive.
“You’re gonna like them.”  Robin said, and you trusted her.
The few songs they played put you in the mood of screaming and jumping, Robin and you had gone mad on the side of the mini stage, dancing and making faces to each other to the point that other people joined you in your little bubble of madness, you were all sweaty and thirsty by the end of their set.
Dustin was laughing at you two when you approached them at the table, Steve was now happily talking to a girl. He kind of smirked when he saw you two all red faced.
“Water please!” you whined sitting down.
Lucas slid a cup across the surface of the table, you almost chugged half of it when Robin nudged you to share the drink.
“Never seen Robin have this much fun at one of Eddie’s shows.” Lucas pointed.
“This is the first show you attend with us, Lucas.” Max pointed, snorting, “Robin and I always have the best time.”
“You should’ve joined us, it was so… liberating!” your friend with red cheeks and a splash of freckles smiled at you. “We need to do it again.”
“I’m always willing to have a good time, you should come to New York though, there are tons of places where they play shows like this, you’d love it.”
“Maybe one day,” Robin said, but you saw her face waver.
“Just pay for your bus and you can stay at my place, all of you!” you even dared to look at Steve who was low-key listening to you all talk.
Dustin shrugged, “we can start saving and go, I want to see so many places, we can even go to Forbidden Planet, they say you can find whatever comic you’re looking for there.” his eyes sparkled longing for the opportunity.
You smirked, “whatever you like guys, just come! Yes, Robin?”
“Come on!” Max insisted, her smile contagious. You already liked her.
“I guess we can try, yeah we can do it.” Robin squealed and side hugged you.
Going for another round of water filled cups and sodas, you left them planning the whole trip, you heard them talk about the statue of liberty, Empire State, the Brooklyn bridge, Queens and Central Park. On your way back to the table you clocked Dustin talking to the guys in the band with the super scary name, right on the far end of the venue, near the back exit. It was funny to you to see how the teens were friends with older guys, it felt so natural to be around them, it was impossible not to notice how strong the connection was between them. You’ve never had that with anyone before, only with Robin.
“That is Eddie, you remember him?” Robin pulled you out of your train of thought. “He went to our school. He’s so cool, and he is going places with his band, they have like a tour coming or something big like that.”
You didn’t remember him really but the name rang a bell in the deep corners of your mind, it was the way some wrinkles formed in the corners of his mouth when he smiled, that was enough to throw you into a loop of memories, he was the one kid that played the guitar better than anyone in middle school, you were jealous because you always wanted to play guitar but unfortunately your fingers were not that long and your coordination was nonexistent.
“I remember him,” you saw how Dustin moved aside to talk to the other band members, Eddie—“what was his last name? Mason? Monroe?”
“Munson,”
“Yeah… Eddie Munson,” you and Robin were watching him, Eddie had straightened a little, he fixed his hair as a girl with big eyes and sweet smile went to him. “That must be the girl he likes.” You nodded towards them.
Robin chuckled, “Good eye. He has a crush on her but he is terrible at hiding it.”
“Yep, he is pretty obvious.”
“You wanna meet him? He seems scary but he is harmless, like a puppy on the inside.”
Letting yourself be guided by Robin you waited for him to stop talking to the smiley girl. You saw first hand how he transformed, he relaxed and his ringed fingers wiggled as he waved at Robin.
“Hey Buckley! Thanks for showing up!” he bowed at her.
“Stop it, we always come! Sometimes we are late but we’re always here for you!” she punched him on the shoulder playfully.
“I know, I know, still it means a lot.” Eddie gave you a once over “hey, who’s your friend.” A smile appeared on his lips, he was definitely not as intimidating as he appeared to be.
“Y/n, she’s staying with the Johnsons.”
“Hi! Oh, you were amazing up there,” you quickly added to avoid the staring.
Eddie chuckled, “Thanks, wow I like your friend Buckley.” Robin only rolled her eyes, a smile still plastered on her lips. “Y/n, right? You seem familiar.”
“I lived here until a couple of years ago. Was in the same year as Steve Harrington.”
“Hmm… no, I don’t remember you from school, must be something else.” His eyes were intense though, trying to scan your face for any trace of information that could trigger his stored memories. “I’ll remember, don’t worry.”
“Shit!” Robin tugged at the sleeve of your shirt, “There’s Vickie! Oh my god, what do I do? Was she here since the beginning? Why nobody told me!” she tried to fix her hair, brushing it down and doing her best to fix the smeared eyeliner, she looked wild.
“I don’t even know who Vickie was ”
Robin was having a moment where she didn’t know if she should hide or run or fix her clothes or cry.
“The one with the short hair, freckles, bandana around her neck.” Eddie whispered near you.
“Oh… wait, that's Vickie as in your crush Vickie?” Now you were looking at Robin, eyes like saucers. “Dude!! Go talk to her!”
“What? No, no I can’t, I look horrible! Oh god no, she looked at me oh no, do I look okay?” Robin showed you her teeth, “Something there?” you shook your head, a thumbs up.
Eddie was smirking, seeing you trying to fix her bangs that were still plastered with sweat over her forehead. There was not much to do but she looked good, as good as one can look after a concert, she could do it.
“Go, Buckley, you look fine.” Eddie intervened.
“But I can’t leave you here, y/n.”
“I’ll take care of her, don’t worry.” Eddie put his arm around your shoulders, a subtle smell of weed reached your nose.
“You sure?” she looked at you.
Shrugging, you nodded, “Just go, you can tell me all about it tomorrow.”
“Oh you are the best! If you want a ride home, look for Steve, he is… somewhere.”
“Sure,”
With that you and Eddie saw Robin walk to Vickie, the red haired girl almost tackled your friend with a hug, you felt happy for Robin, she deserved all the happiness in the world.
“So… wanna meet the rest of the band?” Eddie looked you in the eye, his arm still on you.
“Yeah,”
“Cool, please follow me.”
Jeff and Gareth were the ones around, the fourth member of the band had fled before his ex could find him. As soon as you approached them, they involved you in a conversation that got you discreetly laughing, it was absurd really, starting with what was the best dessert they’ve had; croissant with whipped cream, black coffee with submerged Oreo cookies, fries with McDonalds ice cream, after that it jumped all the way to what beer they liked most, Eddie was the only one debating if he liked the lagers or the ales best, but for desert it was definitely a good double scoop of chocolate peanut butter cone.
“There’s gonna be this afterparty at Jordan’s. You’re coming?” Jeff asked Eddie specifically.
“Nah I don’t think it’s a good idea, I should head home. I’m drained, man.”
“We heard Chrissy and her friends are coming.” Gareth added, with wiggly eyebrows.
Eddie’s demeanor changed in a millisecond, “uh, I guess we can stop by to see if things are good, I could get one last drink.”
You wanted to laugh, his cheeks were rosy.
“Want to come?” Gareth asked you.
“No, thanks. I’m going to find Robin or Steve and go home, but thanks. You guys did amazing today, I had a really great time. Have fun at your party, though.”
“No, thank you for coming, always nice to have cute… I mean pretty… I—it’s good to have new people around…” Jeff went all red.
A chuckle escaped your lips. “Well… bye guys.”
You turned on your heel, the small venue was still packed and pretty loud too. You heard your name being called, the moment you turned there was Eddie and his friends waving at you goodbye but they were being… guys, pushing each other and laughing.
“See you around!” he shouted, saluting you. Eddie had a lopsided grin that somehow didn’t leave your mind. You noticed how beautifully his doe eyes were.
Looking for someone was hard. You pushed past so many people that you ended up all sweaty again. After what felt like twenty minutes of searching, you came to the conclusion: Robin left, she had disappeared from The Hideout without telling anyone. And the teens, they were gone, Steve and the girl gone too.
Great.
Lucky you, you were not far from your aunt’s place and you actually paid attention to the turns you made to get there. Grabbing your keys a little tighter between your fingers, you walked down a few streets, some places were still open with neon signs washing the streets with colorful lights..
At least this gave you time to think, think about life, and how maybe you could come back to Hawkins after college, become a teacher or something and keep being friends with Robin forever, maybe you could win over Steve again and be friends with him with both of them, become the three musketeers. Now that you could actually mull the thought, you weren’t sure why Steve was so annoyed at you, you could only guess it was because of the same reason you were a little annoyed at him, for becoming your replacement in Robin’s life, now it was your turn to regain your spot as the best friend.
A few cars passed by every now and then, mostly drunk people, causing your hand to grip the keys against your palm with too much force.
Being alone was something you enjoyed, you needed to recharge after long social interactions but being lonely was the one feeling you didn’t like, it was when intruding thoughts happened to find a way out, and it provoked crying sessions out of nowhere, and the overthinking was unbearable; was it so hard to keep a friend around? Were you the problem? Was that the reason you had to try harder for someone to like you?
A honk startled you to the point of making you jump.
“Woah sorry.” Eddie popped his head out of the window of his van, “Want a ride?” he smiled, that big smile showing you his almost perfect teeth.
“Yes, yes, thank you.”
Unexpectedly Eddie got out of his seat and helped you open the door, offering you his hand to get inside the back of the van.
“Please buckle yourself up, don’t want Buckley to murder me if something happens to you.” He glanced at you from the rearview mirror. He only started moving when you put the safety belt on.
“Weren't you going to the party?”
“I am, but forgot my guitar at The Hideout. Can’t leave her there all alone.” To your right there it laid a guitar case. “Weren’t you going to get a ride from Harrington?”
“Yes, but he was gone and Robin too… so I walked.”
“It’s not safe to walk on your own at night,” He gave you a stern look from the mirror again.
“I know, but I had no other option.”
He nodded, “do you want to come to the party? Just for a while, promise not to take long, I need to pick up Jeff’s bass. He can’t drink and have his bass around. Last time he threw up on it, he had to buy a new set of strings. It was gross and funny but mostly gross.”
You scrunched your nose, “yeah, thanks for the details,”
Eddie laughed, “so you want to come with this poor bastard to keep his friend’s bass safe from disaster?”
There was something to Eddie’s whole existence that didn’t let you say no to him, it felt wrong to say no, so you sighed.
“I guess so, I mean you are giving me a ride after all, I owe you.”
“That’s enough for me.”
The party was literally around the corner, the house was huge, and there were people already passed out on the grass.
You jumped out of the van with Eddie’s help.
“This is quite the party.” He said.
You followed Eddie inside, the music was too loud to even try and talk over it. Teens dancing over tables, broken glass on the wooden floor, couples kissing here and there and the intense smell of weed mixed with alcohol and something else made you gag.
“Not a party person I assume.” Eddie was handing you a glass of what you expected was water.
“Yeah, not really my scene.”
“Same, I prefer to be at mine playing the guitar.” You found a quieter spot in the garden. Gareth was on the grass smoking a joint and Jeff… well he was either dead or asleep. “Look at these fuckers.”
You waited as Eddie approached them, kicking Gareth softly. Eddie started making tons of hand gestures while Gareth waved a hand at him, you didn’t hear a thing about what they were saying so you drank from the cup you had in hand, it was water,  you chugged it down and left the cup on a window sill. A moment later Eddie turned around, heading back inside the house again, with a nod he made you follow him. If you thought it was crowded before, now it was twice as bad.
“No, definitely not a party person.” You stated to yourself, still you heard Eddie laugh behind you. His hand found your shoulder, your eyes couldn’t help to give a quick look at his fingers, rings adorned them nicely.
“Here,” he guided you to the living room. The bass was resting against the wall. You almost sighed in relief. “Can you hold it, I’m going upstairs to find the case. Meet me up front. Yeah?”
Dark eyes again found yours, you nodded. Feeling shy all of a sudden.
The fuck’s your problem with his dark shiny eyes. Keep it together.
Legs moved fast against glass, wooden floor and grass. You had to sit down on the sidewalk when Eddie took more time than necessary. Even asked a very drunk dude what time it was; past midnight. Good, you were going to be grounded if your aunt was still awake.
You hugged the bass close to your chest, people went in and out of the house, the waiting grew longer to the point of seeing someone throw up near a three, you barely held it in, it was disgusting. The limit to your patience was wearing thin, Eddie was a lucky guy, because you were a minute away from leaving the bass and head home, you knew where you were so why wait for him?
But of course he showed up at the last second. The girl from the venue at his side, both were talking lively, his cheeks were red and her whole expression was of amazement, almost adoration. It felt wrong to be looking at them like that. The thing was that neither noticed you were there.
It was better if you left Eddie alone, you were actually intruding in his plans for the night. If it wasn’t because he saw you walking alone he probably would’ve been with that girl all night. You put the bass on the side of his van, hopping no one would notice the item leaning there.
Your head turned to look at them. Eddie had his back to you, but you perfectly saw his rings shine under the ugly yellow light from the lamp posts, he was playing with the ends of his hair, you laughed lightly at that.
That night you walked back home alone just as it was supposed to happen since the beginning. Keys between your fingers. What was different was how lonely you knew you were.

Different Lives
Summary: Prince Steve is being forced to go to camp by the king in an attempt to make him learn his duties. Eddie has been talked into going to camp by his band. What happens when their camp places are reversed.
Authors Note: I think this is the longest fic I've written in one day for a while. My brain is tired and you're lucky I didn't just write out conversations with no tags or indications over who was speaking cause that's how todays started off being. I could've left the camp leaders the same as in the film, yes, but Jason being trapped in the same way clive was in the film was just too funny to miss
/\/\
Steve had always expected that going to summer camp would be fun. In all the films and stories it was a reward or adventure for the kids, a good thing in the views of all children. As his mother explained going to Camp Royalty it definitely didn't sound like a good thing.“We just think this will be good for you Steve.”
“Don't coddle the boy, Alison. This camp will give you the skills to take to work and you will have to impress the people you work under because I'm not helping you more than that. This is your last chance to prove you are worthy of your title.” King Richard of course made it sound even worse than his mother had done and the only reason Steve wasn't arguing over going more was that he hoped being away from his parents he could actually make it enjoyable.
“Yes Mother and Father. I understand. I'm not going to disgrace the kingdom at summer camp.” The promise was one he'd recited a hundred times at least, practically every time he went anywhere he had to reassure them and usually still managed to fail in some way that never got explained.
“You better not.”
/\/\
It was kind of amusing to watch Gareth try to find an argument that would work. In all honesty that was the main reason Eddie wasn't already agreeing to going to Camp Rock.
“Eddie, we need a break man. Let's just try this Camp Rock and see what it's like, make friends with some new musicians.” Gareth complained. It was definitely the truth, even Eddie was feeling worn down and as if they needed more friends into music than the four of them.
Still he pointed at the calendar, and the other reason he wasn't accepting the idea immediately. Every time they changed plans and had to reschedule anything they pushed that onto him, claiming it was the front man's job to do, rather than one of theirs, or even Seymore's as their agent. “We've already booked tour dates for that week. Do you want to be in charge of rescheduling it all?!
Jeff snatched the calendar from his hands and replaced it with multiple envelopes that were clearly fan mail from the doodles on some of them. “I'll do it. Hell I bet some of our fans would thank us. There've been a few fan letters that ask if we're okay or mention how stressed our recent albums have seen.”
“Fine, fine. Guess I'm overruled. Just book the camp tickets. I'll be there.” The pout and crossed arms was easy to do, and Eddie hoped enough to get him some more leeway in what he took part in at camp.
/\/\
Steve could manage this. In fact it was better than anything he'd hoped would happen because at Camp Rock there was no Princess Nancy or her brother ready to let their parents and by connection his own anything he did that she didn't agree with. As soon as Barb offered to let him stay instead of fighting for a transfer unless Camp Royalty requested it he jumped at the choice but now he had to find a place with the Camp Rock kids and the two ladies entering the room he'd been directed to stay in.
“They're allowing mixed gender rooming now? Who are you? And why are you dressed so... so like a prat?” The first woman was immediately in his face, looking him up and down and clearly judging him.
“I'm Steve, a prince apparently caught in a system mix up which swapped my camp around.” It definitely wasn't the time to bow, or kiss her hand, but he hold his hand out to shake as he introduced himself.
While his hand was taken it was used to spin him around and carry on watching his expression. “You know what the normal people in your kingdom live like?” she asked.
“Planning to find out after camp. The King has dictated that I get a job and I'm going to do everything I can to ensure it's not one he decides. But before we carry on talking might I know the names of the lovely ladies I'm addressing?” The explanation was probably too much to share, but it at least seemed to pass whatever judgement had been directed at him
“I'm Robin, Vickie is the one still hovering in the doorway. Do you know when you have to go and save some tragic princess? Also why can't the princess be the one to save you?” Laughing at the questions was easy. Steve had heard that a lot of working people, even up to the Lords and Ladies that sometimes visited believed the fairytales were actually true.
Now he shallowly bowed, marking Robin his equal if she knew anything about bowing etiquette. “Delighted to make your acquaintance. Also, those are myths and I think the media prefer to twist any story so the man is the hero. It's annoying. Princess Nancy is far more likely to save someone than I or the commoner she's recently made the acquaintance of.” The formalities felt stilted but necessary, especially given how unusual and uncomfortable he was to realise he was indeed staying in the same room as these girls. It was a situation he'd always been warned against allowing to happen.
“Dingus, we're going to have to get those manners dropped and quick. Come gossip. Vickie, get over here and join in.” Robin used the hand she'd never dropped to drag him over to one of the beds, hand waving rapidly to beckon Vickie over.

So far Eddie thought Lady Chrissy was pretty cool but Jason was definitely a social climbing creep to some degree. He also wondered if he could convince Gareth to book there next trip to camp to be for Camp Royalty to deliberately cause chaos here. The other campers his age had all turned away from him or iced him out of their conversations when they weren't acting too good to look where they're going and frankly Eddie would be calling them out on it if he wasn't definitely outnumbered.
Now there was another possible issue considering the room he'd been directed two had quite definitely got two children already settled as if it was their own room. Eddie might not have been to camp before but he was pretty sure they usually separated the kids and teens by age range.
“Are you sure Will is going to DM for us when we get back? Nancy only just introduced you two.” At least that sounded like the kids didn't think they were above having some normal fun.
The second kid rolled his eyes exaggeratedly, “Lucas, the Byers have been close advisors to our family for generations. They're one of our connections to our people. If Will has said he'll DM and help teach us DnD then he will.”
“Or I could. You know, when Jason told me I could stay here, I wasn't expecting to be rooming with children.” Eddie offered, alerting the pair to his presence and shaking his head at their momentary frowns over his different style to everyone else in the camp. At least they were quickly replaced by curiosity from the second kid and a serious nod from the first, seemingly called Lucas.
Lucas was the one to reply also, “It's a ridiculous supervision thing they brought in last year. Apparently if a King requests that their child learns more responsibility while at camp they're asked to supervise some of the younger campers. You however do not seem royal.”
He couldn't resist looking down at himself and circling as if to find out where the suit all the other men were wearing was before grinning, “Because I'm not. There's been a system mix-up with Camp Rock. I'm Eddie, and you are?”
“Prince Lucas and this is Prince Michael. I assume you have headphones even if you weren't informed that whichever prince you've swapped places with was acting as a kid supervisor.” Lucas countered, and Eddie definitely understood that it was as much from an assumption that Eddie would want to play his music as well as that they wouldn't be changing anything on how they behaved at camp for him.
Michael however was staring at him with the unmistakable gaze of a fan and darted to his bedside table to grab a magazine with Corroded Coffin on the cover. “You're Eddie Munson! Will you sign my magazine? Can you teach me how to play guitar? Have you ever smashed a guitar on stage? I saw it in a movie once and it looked like so much fun. Call me Mike”
“Was going to say yes, but if you're wanting to try smashing a guitar lets stick with no. Nobody gets to hurt my sweetheart.” Eddie was very quick to pick his guitar case back up and move away from Mike, smile definitely forced as he refused the request.

“Oi! Princey! Where the hell is Eddie?” The call made Steve pause and turn from where he'd been following Robin to the dance class. Vickie was meeting them there after stopping in wardrobe for a bit.
He knew it was him being called to but had to frown at the question, trying to remember if he'd met an Eddie yet. “Who's Eddie? I'm not sure I've met an-”
The man who'd yelled was already coming closer, followed by two other guys. “The guy who is actually meant to be at this camp. Why'd you swap places with him?”
“The guy from the dock?” He guessed, remembering the person who'd bumped into him definitely had a style similar to the group he was talking to, “I think that might have been the name the doorman for Camp Royalty was calling when I was trying to get on the right ship to come to camp.”
One of the other men looked sceptical, looking Steve up and down as if he'd be able to spot a lie. “You mean you had nothing to do with this and are just as confused over why your here as Eddie definitely has over being there?”
“Guess so. I'm Steve, who are you three?” He shrugged, then held his hand out to shake, this time having it properly shook. At least Robin's reaction was a thing only she seemed to do.
“Jeff, Gareth and Grant, three quarters of Corroded Coffin since apparently our singer and lead guitar is at the wrong camp.” Jeff gestured to who he was introducing and stepped back so Gareth and grant could also shake his hand.
Since they still didn't seem entirely happy, Steve soon stepped back again, “I feel like you want me to apologise for a mistake the camps made.”
“Ah – Um, you have a point there. We're just a bit annoyed since this was meant to be a trip for us all to relax.” Gareth seemed to want to protest before nodding at his point.
A cough coming from behind him made Steve glance over his shoulder to see Robin waiting for him to follow her again. “Okay, well... Robin and Vicky have convinced me to tag along to some of the activities so I'll probably see you later?”
“Later Princey” Gareth called, turning to wherever they'd been going before again.

Eddie had struggled to believe the unicorns were really. He'd doubted half of the things included as activities could actually be necessary for royalty to learn, but this, seeing sceptre training actually including magic was what finally made him comment on it to the kids he was basically trailing around camp. “The sceptre thing isn't just a legend? That could make for some awesome stage effects.”
“Exactly! Erica has been trying to argue that her friends should get them too but for some reason the world's countries agreed to keep this magic hoarded for the royal families.” Lucas nodded rapidly. Mike had wandered over to one of the older kids when she waved and was yet to return. Lucas didn't seem concerned by it and so far every interaction Eddie had had with the teens closer to his age had been negative at best.
“Can I try yours?” He asked with a cheeky grin.
“No you can't. The way you've latched onto the kids you're meant to supervise is unnerving some of us. What are you doing here still?” And there was Mike back again, just behind the princess pushing Eddie's hand down as if he'd have taken it from Lucas without permission.
Eddie met her gaze directly, gesturing around them. “Waiting for Lady Chrissy to get Camp Rock to transfer me mostly. Who are you and why get angry when you and all the other royals our age have scorned me to the point these two are the only half decent people here?”
“Princess Nancy. We weren't scorning you.” She seemed so certain of her words that Eddie could hold his scoff back.
Lucas looked like he would have scoffed too if he hadn't been trained differently already. “You really were, Princess Nancy. Everyone has been scowling at him, and scoffing anytime he shows his passions for music and storytelling. You keep lecturing Mike and I about not judging those who aren't in the royal life but have been doing just that ever since Eddie ended up at our camp. Are we only meant to accept the Princess Wheeler approved commoners?” He stated, clearly referring to connections that Eddie only had vague ideas about based on things Mike and Lucas had already said around him.
“Lucas, that's not true. I'm just trying to look out for you.” Nancy's tone suddenly gentled but her actions were still speaking more than loudly enough for Eddie and Lucas
“Then you should have spent time with us, with Eddie over the last 2 days, not just glared before coming over with accusations.” Lucas stated, before handing Eddie his sceptre. “This is how we do the rainbow display.” He began instructing, clearly ending the conversation with Nancy by turning his back to her.

Eddie had tried. He had tried to get involved and join in, especially since the competition had been announced and Lady Chrissy had seemed so delighted by his singing during one of their small conversations about failing to transfer him to the correct camp. The issue was it seemed that none of the royals involved in the acapella choir was prepared to actually accept that he knew how to sing.
Eddie hadn't meant to storm away and he was sure that once he calmed down he'd go right back to keeping an eye on the last half decent royals present But for now he was walking and smiling at how much he could relate to the song he could hear.
“That's a great song.” The words left him without thinking, and it was only when the song broke of that he realised the singer was someone walking around the lake similar to himself.
“Sorry, I wasn't expecting anyone to be out here.” The singer said, one hand coming up to adjust his hair.
Eddie nodded, understanding exactly what he meant, “I know what that's like. Getting so lost in music is wonderful, especially when you're upset. Why do I recognise you?”
“Are you the man from the dock? Just before I was called for the wrong boat?” He asked in reply, squinting a little as if that would help his memory.
“And I got on the wrong boat cause Jason was yelling my name. I'm Eddie.” The agreement came easily, now smiling and holding his hand out.
It was taken and shook easily. “I'm Steve, and yeah, your band told me. Gareth apparently thought you swapped with me as a prank until I explained the mix-up.”
“Bet he wasn't the nicest before getting told that. He's only confrontational when annoyed or worried and my disappearance probably had him feeling both.” He laughed, already having imagined their reactions since he realised a prince must have ended up at Camp Rock.
Steve smiled back easily, “It wasn't so bad and we got it cleared up fairly quickly. Why are you out here?”
“A Princess Nancy has decided I'm, I don't know, grooming her brother or something. Did you know your parents had you set to be supervision for a couple of camp kids?” Eddie stated, smirking a little when Steve clearly recognised the name.
The reply confirmed that connection, with a small roll of his eyes. “No, but I can believe that. Was it Dustin or Lucas rooming with Michael? I never got told if all three were allowed to go this year.”
“Lucas. They're pretty great kids, especially with how hostile the rest of them are.” Eddie couldn't help but grin. Looking after the pair was reminding him of his days before quitting school to focus on his band when he'd try to look out for younger kids who didn't fit in.
“Royals don't much like change. It's scary if something disturbs their views of superiority over the people they rule.” Steve offered a commiserating smile.
“That explains why I'm sending them insane then.” Eddie's replying grin was full of mischief. He thought that going back to camp knowing there was at least one prince he could get along with would make getting the rest to question their views more worthwhile.
/\/\
“Metal is what we're best at.” The argument didn't seem to have a point to Steve but Grant was repeating the comment for the third time since a few of them had mentioned feeling unhappy with their song choice.
Robin was shaking her head, pulling out a board and starting to right pros and cons columns out. “It's a niche. The royals aren't going to go for it and we need the song to be liked if we're going to win.”
“Steve literally just said it was a good song.” Gareth pointed out as if that would convince her to let them stick with the Corroded Coffin song
Vickie immediately stepped up to back Robin's argument for changing songs saying, “And you started this practise claiming his songwriting was metal even if the song itself wasn't in that style. Why can't we sing one of his?”
“Robin, we're the ones who know how to rock a concert or have you forgotten how big our band actually is?” Gareth stated, gesturing between the three band members.
“Yet you're learning along with the rest of us.” Vickie stated.
Robin quickly added onto that with, “Experience does not mean you know this camp or Camp Royalty's tastes to win the competition and I'm not throwing it just because you want to play a metal song that's not even a camp original.”
“Steve, do you want us to use one of your songs for the competition?” Jeff finally sighed, looking over to him and making him blink at apparently being given the power to choose what they played.
“If you think it could help you win then sure?” He replied, uncertain if this was some sort of test, “Which one though? I've not had the chance to play much of them before.”
“Which makes it even more impressive how metal they are. The one from this morning was pretty great actually.”
“Everyone okay with that being our song choice?” Vickie asked, looking around the room.
“Agreed.” was chorused back to her.
/\/\
Eddie had actually been getting into the song. It was fun even if he'd had to fight to get them to change and only managed with with Lady Chrissy's intervention. If they wanted to win the competition then he'd do his best to help.
Unfortunately that didn't seem to be how any of the rest of the choir was taking it, proven by Nancy coming over to him when they took a short break. “Mike and Lucas aren't here, you can stop showing off now.”
“Two things: 1st Lady Chrissy literally asked us to highlight my voice in our entry.” He began, getting a goblet of water that he'd insisted be provided if they were to practise outside for hours. “2nd It's not showing off, it's showmanship which is necessary when performing. You're the one desperate to win but if you want me to just mimic you, then I shall.”
Princess Nancy scowled, folding her arms and visibly settling in for what she wanted to be a one sided argument. Eddie copied the gesture and waited for her to speak.“That's entirely not what I meant.”
“That's entirely not what I meant.” He recited the words back in the most dead inside voice he could achieve.
“I'm just saying we work as an ensemble, don't you know how to work with other people.” She scowled, a finger coming up to gesture before she caught herself.
“I'm just saying we work as an ensemble, don't you know how to work with other people.” He intoned, maintaining near perfect stillness, even as he watched Lucas and Mike come over to them.
Mike was already snickering when he asked, “Why is Eddie coping everything you say?”
“Just what have you been lecturing him about this time?” Lucas was quick to correct the question, knowing it would be a reaction to something.
Eddie relaxed into his normal posture again. “Oh just that I've been showing off and taking over. Maybe she'd be happier if I just got out of here.” As he said the words he suddenly thought that was a great idea.
“Eddie? You're joking about that, right? Eddie?” Mike sounded uncertain, gaze following as Eddie just grinned, turning and walking away, ignoring the attempt to call after him.
He was just close enough to hear when Lucas replied, “I don't think he was joking about it.”
/\/\
For saying this was Camp Royalty and should definitely have some decent security, Eddie found none as he headed into Lady Chrissy's office and dialled the number for the bands agent, impatiently listening to it ring. “Come on, Seymore, pick up.”
“Hey, Metal is here to stay, but I am out! Leave a message-” Getting the voicemail recording was soon overshadowed by hearing Jason coming through, talking aloud to himself.
“Camp Royalty has got this in the bag! Poor Barbara Holland, what are you going to do when you have to close your camp and leave? Don't care! Why Lady Christine, of course I'm not the most intelligent man in the world, top 5% maybe.” Jason singing love songs to himself as he left the office was an image that would stick with him. Now Eddie wasn't one to judge anyone's music taste, but he would judge the type of simping that Jason seemed to do every time Lady Chrissy did anything.
/\/\
“You two up to invade Camp Rock and snatch Prince Steve to plan to save both camps?” Eddie announced as soon as he was back in his room, getting a visibly fretting Lucas and Mike spinning to stare and run over to him as if checking he was actually there.
Mike's expression twisted with distaste a moment later, at a guess when everything Eddie had said registered, “Steve was meant to be our supervision? I am so glad this mix up happened. Hang on, what's going on with the camps?”
“Prince Steve is nice. Just because Nancy was just as judgemental towards him as she's been to Eddie this week doesn't mean you need to complain about him for all eternity. Focusing on the issue though, we'll help.” Lucas shook his head, admonishing his friend slightly before refocusing, “What's going on?”
“I didn't hear all the details but there's some kind of bet which means whoever loses this competition has to close down.” Eddie gave the shortest explanation he could, already sure he'd be repeating it all night and trying to herd his sheep out of the door.
Thankfully they easily went, only glancing at him to know the way to walk, “Let's go then.”
/\/\
“Eddie, Twerps, What's going on?” Steve barely glanced at the kids before focusing on Eddie, concerned.
Once again Eddie decided to avoid giving a full explanation to them, his mind still trying to plot the evening the way he would a D&D game, “Nothing good. You said the rest of Corroded Coffin is in Camp Rocks band? Can you take me to them so we explain this just once.”
“Sure. We've got a rehearsal soon anyway.” Steve nodded behind him, only smirking as the kids and Eddie dodged behind and around things to try and stay hidden as they followed him.
/\/\
“Eddie Munson!” Everyone waiting in their practise room gasped, hands going to their faces to enhance the drama of the moment.
Steve looked them all over unimpressed before saying, “Why are you acting surprised? Gareth, Jeff and Grant have all been practising with us from the start. Wait, why are you three acting surprised too?”
“Felt like it. What's going on that you only sneak into the right camp now?” Gareth shrugged, straightening and looking Eddie's expression over as if it would tell him everything about what was happening.
/\/\
All of them were exhausted. They'd rehearsed late into the night, straight after about a million arguments because Princess Nancy and the other royals weren't ready to just trust, in their words, a washed up wannabe rockstar and a couple of kids barely trained in the royal life.
And then to perform with as much energy and in the moment adaptions as the merging of their two groups took left Eddie impressed they were all still standing at the end of their performance. It really made the show unpredictable and difficult to be unable to perform all together even once before the actual show.
He was only just following the argument going on between Lady Chrissy and Barbara Holland, and really wished he could believe it wasn't a scheme entirely motivated by Lady Chrissy wanting to shut down Camp Rock.
Steve nudged his arm as he twisted his sceptre to point at the floor under the feet of their camp leaders, making Eddie realise they'd stopped atop one of the platforms. He hoped Steve had also included something to prevent them from just walking out of that area and back onto the stage to carry their argument on. “Bold move.”
“Honestly, I can cope with the music but their arguing would give me a migraine.” Steve muttered back, frowning at Jason's appearance on stage.
“I'm pretty good at head massages if that'll help.” Eddie offered quietly, leaning into his space and finally letting himself flirt a little. Here on the stage, with Mike and Lucas in the audience and his band all around him he finally felt safe enough to do so, even if the royals that were only just beginning to accept he wasn't horrible could be watching.
Steve wrapped an arm around his waist, whispering, “I bet we could both do with a few massages after this is all over. Want to visit my kingdom before you get back to your tour?”
“I think I can schedule that in.” He agreed, turning at the collective noise of disappointment to see Jason now gloating on the stage. “But I guess we didn't manage to save the camps even with you shutting Chrissy away.”
With a sigh, Steve pointed his sceptre back at the area Barbara and Chrissy were shut in so he definitely had ensured they'd remain there.
Nobody was expecting the pair to be cuddling, pecking at each others lips as they were raised back to stage height.
“I'd say that might be hope for us yet.” Steve smiled, distracting himself and Eddie by pulling the other into a kiss a little deeper than the ones their camp leaders had been sharing.
The distraction was broken once again, this time by Jason screaming “I BRIBED A JUDGE FOR YOU!”
There were at least 3 glows of sceptres being activated in the vague direction of Jason, enough that Eddie doubted he'd manage to escape the stage platforms for at least a day without help.
